The lovely chaps behind the FANTASTIC Interregnum fics loved my ✨PRACTICAL SPACE FASHION MARA✨ so much that they asked if we could get a companion piece to celebrate the completion of their latest work.
AND WHO THE F*CK AM I TO SAY NO??!
Rogue Squadron jacket Luke? Non-black wearing Luke? Blaster-wielding, badass Luke? Slightly-older, lines-across-his-forehead Luke? YES.
Oh, also, I updated Mara's face a bit as well, so it would match more with the lighting and shading I did for him.

Mara Jade Skywalker
Star Wars Legends
I'm emerging from my Star Wars art block to draw my queen, the most badass, the woman so out of Luke's league but he somehow still managed to land her, the perfection that is Mara Jade.
I love her with my whole heart you guys. Always have, always will. She's one of the reasons Legends is my Star Wars in my heart of hearts.
She isn't canon anymore and New Republic is an era I haven't touched yet so I struggled. I struggled with colour palette. I struggled with background. I struggled with corners. All of it. So finally I said fuck it, let's just have some fun and this came out.

Cover art by Tsuyoshi Nagano. “Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology,” Japanese edition. February, 2006.
The Japanese edition of “Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology” depicted a saga-spanning collection by artist Tsuyoshi Nagano. In the Christmas 2015 issue of ImagineFX magazine, Nagano had these memories, “I like Mara Jade a lot, so my drawings of her tend to be full body. Her costume was created using the comics as a reference. Grand Admiral Thrawn’s skin and Mara Jade’s lightsaber match, while Qui-Gon Jinn and Yoda’s lightsabers are the same green, to keep the painting engaging.”

How familiar are you with Star war legends?
not very but I think this is how a crossover between legends and (my) canon and would go down:

ID: three drawing of Mara Jade from the star wars expanded universe. She is portrayed as a Black woman, with midtoned skin and dark red curly hair. In the first drawing she is smiling and tilting her head slightly to one side, as though she is endeared by something off screen. Her hair is in a puff in the back, with curls visible from the front
In the second drawing she is in profile, looking at something to the side, she has a neutral expression and her hair is in dreadlocks.
The third and final drawing is the largest, it cuts off at her knees. She has a focused expression on her face and has her body turned to the side, as though she is turning away from the viewer, while her head is still in 3/4s view. She wears a black tank top, beige pants, and a belt with several layers, along with two white necklaces.
All three drawing are somewhat messy, with many halftones, cross hatching, and white outlines around each drawing.
END ID
Woah!? Mara Jade!

Thinking again of how, in the Star Wars Legends continuity, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade are all but stated:
to have had an enthusiastic sex life;
to have used every available form of birth control, including a few Force-based ones;
to have become parents of a little Ben anyway because the Force willed it.

Cover art by Munehiro Uchimichi. “Star Wars: The Last Command,” Japanese edition. May, 1993.
The Japanese edition of “The Last Command” boasted original cover art by Munehiro Uchimichi, featuring a bad-ass Mara Jade! Until recently, only sub-par thumbnails could be found online. I managed to track down a physical copy of the book and scan it, so we could all enjoy!
