The Playboy 4
“Hey Mate, you got a Playboy?” Joe whispered to Sav as they waited for sound check to begin.
“Excuse me?” he nearly spat his water through his nose. “You that worked up?”
“No! I just need to see something.”
“What, read an article?” he teased as Rick walked into the room.
“Rick,” he whispered into his ear.
“No,” he answered slowly. “You might check with the crew.”
“Thanks, Mate,” he patted his shoulder before bolting for the door.
“What was that about?” he asked Sav.
“Guess he needs a pre-gig wank?”
Both men were laughing as Phil walked in with Steve close behind him.
“Are those three goddesses out there with you?” Sav asked Phil.
“Well, the brunette is. The others are just taggin’.”
“Ah,” all of the men in the room smiled.
“Mind if I tag?” Rick asked.
“Sorry. Steve ‘an Joe ‘ave already called dibs.”
Steve grinned as the others flipped him off.
“Thank you!” Joe quickly opened the magazine and skimmed through the first few pages. He finally came to the publishing staff and ran his finger down the list of names. “Riley… Riley… Riley… Riley Hefner, Editor,” he grinned from ear to ear.
“What is it?” Steve’s guitar tech, Malvin looked over his shoulder.
“Just realizing that there is a God, and ‘e loves me,” he winked before walking off.
“Hey!” he called out after him. “Come back with me Playboy!”
.
The three ladies sat in one of the many front rows, and listened as the band warmed up. After realizing they couldn’t see the stage very well, they walked toward the back of the convention center.
“So,” Brenna finally decided to ask. “When are you planning to tell him who you are?”
“You don’t think he’s figured it out?” she crossed her arms.
“I’m not sure,” Samantha answered.
“I’m not really in a rush,” she flipped her hair over her shoulder. “It’s nice to be treated as a person and not ‘Hef’s Daughter’ for a change.”
“So you’re gonna wait until you sleep with him and then spring it on him?” Brenna pushed the issue.
“Who says it’s even going to go that far?”
“The look in your eyes when you talk to him,” Samantha laughed. “You’ve got it bad.”
“I hardly know him,” she waved them off. “Besides, my last… mistake, only wanted me for my father’s parties. And I caught the one before that in the game room with two centerfolds. I have to make sure I can trust him first.”
“But he’s so sweet,” Samantha cooed. “Did you see the way he was staring at you throughout lunch?”
“Yes,” she smiled. “I may just have to throw my ‘No Rock Star’ rule out the door.”
“About time!” Brenna gave her a high-5.
.
“What is up with you?” Sav asked Joe while handing his bass guitar to his tech.
“Me? Nothin’.”
“You’ve been walkin’ around with a fuckin’ boner all afternoon!”
He leaned in and whispered into his ear.
“No shit?” he stopped and looked out into the empty seats. “That is so cool!”
“What?” Steve and Phil looked up from wiping their guitars down.
“You ‘ave to get us into a party, mate,” Sav grinned.
“Sav!” Joe slapped the back of his head.
“Party? What party?” Steve looked at Phil. “You holdin’ out on me?”
“No,” he frowned.
“Just… if you should ‘appen to get invited to a party, be sure to let us in,” Joe covered for him.
“Yeah, right,” he looked at Steve and made a swirl with his finger over his head.
