Someone tell me why my main dnd characters I have (there are like 7 of them, whether they're in a campaign rn or not) all fit different major arcana tarot cards without overlapping.
You can't just let me learn this, I'm gonna want to make a whole batch of dnd characters just to draw them as major arcana cards-

When they say "be there or be square", today's Wet Beast Wednesday subject chose "square". I am referring to boxfish. Also known as cowfish, trunkfish, and cofferfish, these real-life Minecraft fish are bony fish in the family Ostraciidae, sometimes called Ostraciontidae. This makes them close relatives of pufferfish and file fish in the order Tetraodontiformes. While all the Tetraodontiformes are weird-looking fish, the cowfish are easily the strangest, they don't even really look that much like fish.
Tumblr media
(image: the yellow boxfish Ostracion cubicum. They literally named it "cube")
The squarish shape of the boxfish comes from their unique skeleton. They have a carapace made of overlapping, hexagonal plates called dermal scutes that are the equivalent of scales in other fish. Each plate is composed of a soft and bendable collagen layer and mineralized surface layer. This carapace is very sturdy, with holes in it to allow for the eyes, mouth, fins, and cloaca to pass through. In game terminology, the cowfishes are stone walls. Because of the composition of the carapace, boxfish are fully rigid and cannot bend their bodies in any direction. This, combined with their not-overly hydrodynamic shapes, makes them slow and weak swimmers. When they filled out their character sheets they went all-in on defense and neglected speed and offense. A boxfish won't be winning any races, but the carapace is extremely hard to bite through or puncture, giving an effective defense. Despite their small sizes (the largest species can get up to 50 cm/20 in long, and most species are much smaller), adult boxfish have almost no natural predators. It's worth noting that while boxfish are slow swimmers, they are very maneuverable. They have the ability to create small vortices around their bodies to help maneuver.

Not satisfied with having an impenetrable shell, many species of boxfish developed another defense mechanism. When stressed, they can release poison into the water. These poisons are surfactants, substances that break up surface tension, that can damage the cell membranes of other animals. While each species has their own specific chemical and not every species is poisonous, these toxins are collectively called pahutoxins. Poison is a pretty common thing in the Tetraodontiformes. Famously, pufferfish, close relatives of boxfish, are highly poisonous. Most poisonous boxfish species are brightly colored. This is called aposematism and is used as a warning to potential predators that the animal is dangerous. A famous example of aposematism is the brightly-colored poison dart frogs. Young boxfish are typically more colorful than older ones.

Boxfish are voracious omnivores that will eat just about anything that can fit in their tiny mouths. The majority of boxfish species live in coral reefs and their diet consists largely of algae that they scrape off of coral. Additional foods include sponges, tube worms, mollusks, and small fish and invertebrates. Some species can spit out water to blow aside sand and search for buried food.

Boxfish are typically solitary, but occasionally come together in small groups. These groups typically consist of one male and a few females. Scientists speculate these groups are formed for reproduction. They are known to reproduce by swimming to the surface of the water, releasing their gametes, and quickly swimming away.

Because of their unique appearances, boxfish are popular in aquariums. They are recommended for experts only because of their ability to release poison. Boxfish are easily stressed and can kill themselves and other tank-mates by releasing toxin. Aquarists usually say they should be kept in solo tanks or with smaller, mild-mannered tank-mates. In addition, they need to be in tanks with minimal water flow as even the current of a decently-sized filter can blow them around uncontrollably. People who keep boxfish have called them shy, but highly inquisitive and even playful. They have been reported spitting water and their handlers, apparently in an attempt to get attention.

"The Fool is a naive, optimistic, and carefree character. He represents the earliest stages of life or the infancy of a new life phase. The Fool still has challenges yet to come, as indicated by the mountains in the background, but he doesn't worry about them." - the Pictorial Key to the Tarot
Pronto saunters through life without much worry so he lives the life of a fool
Also excited to announce that I am working on Slugterrian Tarot cards of the Major Aracana

Firstly, I love your work so much - everything, from the hideous dialogue in the opening scene of One and Done, to all the muggle AUs (socialist firebrand Hermione in Party Lines 😍), to vignettes like Tommy Plays Guitar and Les Pèlerins (one of my go-to first fic recs), they’ve given me so much joy. Thank you.Q: how do you come up with your premises and pairings? Especially uncommon ones like Luna/Tom, Draco’s friendship with Charlie in Field Guide, Narcissa and Percy at a summer camp?!
My first rare pair was Pansy/Neville, when I was new to fanfiction and fandom and had never heard the term "rare pair" or read any. I just thought Rights & Wrongs Pansy deserved to be unequivocally centered by a partner, and Neville would be really sweet to her. I remember having to look up what "rare pair" meant when someone expressed their surprise. In 2020-2021, I started to dig into HP rare pair writers and was hooked. At that time, I was in a rare pairs group on Facebook, and had the best time dreaming up and writing rare pairs with my close friends. I also did a number of Wheel of Doom prompts, where my friends or I would open a prompting period on Tumblr and then select pairs and prompts via picker wheel.
Luna/Tom was a Tumblr Wheel of Doom fic (ship and song prompt, which was Girls Just Wanna Have Fun), Draco + Charlie in Field Guide was a pairing from the 3rd round of the 2020 Death By Quill HP writing competition (my three surviving entries from that comp are Tommy Played Guitar, Field Guide to North American Dragons, and Major Aracana), and Percy/Narcissa came out of the joyful creative confluence of the summer camp collaboration and our hilarious, unhinged group chats.
It was all so so so fun. I miss those times.

So, a big part of rpm roses story is the tarot card theme. Mainly, certain characters are associated with the major aracana. For team rpm, they are:
Rose: the fool
Scott: strength
Flynn: the chariot
Summer: the high priestess
Ziggy: the sun
Dillon: the hanged man
Gem and gemma: the lovers
Dr.k: the hermit

This is only my theory and what I've been building on.
I believe that in the ritual that all Major Arcanas needed to be present, but the humans don't know who each representative is but the Aracanas do. Otherwise, The Arcana has to be present, which I believe that's why The Devil tried to talk to each of the Arcanas.
I believe that the ritual was to combine The Devil and Lucio while also making a rift in the realities. I have an inkling that the Devil either knew that the first ritual would fall apart and let it happen, or it was a beneficial accident for him because he was able to witness the MC get another body from The Fool. From this he was able to plan the second ritual and that’s why he started to show up and mess around (such as bringing ghost Lucio, and being present in the real world)
I like to think that The Devil approached The Fool and The Fool said yes to this. In my story they’ve accepted the proposition because it was some new adventure or maybe The Devil did not tell them the full extent of what would happen.
In this theory my Fool Arcana is alive but after the ritual The Fool’s existence was rewritten so that’s why in the card and everyone’s memory The Fool has “never existed” (i.e. why the fool is not present in the tarot card.)
The original ritual was probably doomed to fail considering that The Devil would definitely know that the first ritual did not have everyone present. Which is probably why he let Asra sabotage it.
The reason why The Devil needed everyone in one place is kind of like a focus point to rip the realities. And, perhaps The Devil knew this either before the ritual but definitely after the ritual, but by combining mortal and Arcana he's able to have control of both realms even when they've been mixed.
With my story: I have planned not only this, but that even before this ritual that The Devil used Jin as a test subject, which is why a part of their spirit is connected to The Devil’s realm (other than the fact that they are a Capricorn and their parents traded them).

Hmm... how about Emperor, Hermit, and Moon? 👀💚
Thank you! I'll go with my special boy, Salem 🤭
[major aracana questions]
04.  the emperor  :  how much respect does your muse have for authority ? why is this ?
Little to none. Not only does he just generally hate when people try to tell him what to do, he's fully aware of corruption those in power have over others (either first hand or through others' experiences). He is extremely anti-authority, a theme that often appears in his lyrics or performances. Any time he has to interact with an authority figure, Salem becomes guarded and almost hostile. He shows zero respect--either by talking back, lashing out, or just making the interaction as unpleasant as possible (such as resisting arrest). He cannot stand people that use their power to control or silence others.
09.  the hermit  :  how introspective is your muse ? how often do they self - reflect ?
While he wasn't really at first, as he grew older and began to experience more in his life, the more prone to self-reflection he became. It's a lot more prominent now post-recovery/rehab. He's far more willing to sit with himself and examine why he feels the way he feels, why he thinks the way he thinks and why he does the things he does. Though, it's not always a good thing. Sometimes he dwells too much on the bad. Sometimes his self-reflection offers light, but he doesn't always see all the time.
18.  the moon  :  what does your muse long for ? is it a realistic desire ?
Salem wants stability and calmness. The entirety of his adulthood was plagued with misfortune and tragedy. The chaos in his life was painful, and he has inflicted far too much harm on himself (and sometimes, onto others as well). He's tired of it and wishes to rid himself of bad habits and unhealthy lifestyles. He wants to heal and he wants to finally live. Luckily for him, he does manage to meet this need. 🥰

the magician?
major aracana asks
the magician  :  how does your muse feel about fate ? do they believe they can change their own destiny ?
Antoine very much feels that we are given the cards we are dealt for a reason. He hates fate, but he does respect it. Just as much as he does believe you can change your own destiny, you only need to make that jump.
