CSIR Developed Herbal Decongestant Spray
Tumblr media
CSIR Developed Herbal Decongestant Spray The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI) developed herbal decongestant spray The spray is used to prevent COVID-19 infection and to ease wearing masks. Importance of this Spray Wearing mask for a long time creates difficulty in breathing and congestion in respiratory system. The herbal spray will help to address this problem. Why masks are difficult to wear? The main issue of wearing face mask is Carbon Dioxide, which is accumulated in the inner cavity of the mask The accumulated carbon dioxide goes back to the lungs when a person breathes. This creates difficulty in breathing when a person wears mask for a long time. Decongestant Spray The spray has been created by blending four plant-based oil The CSIR has not disclosed the names of the plants due to issues related to intellectual property rights The spray has been prepared based on the guidelines of Ministry of AYUSH. The spray clears windpipe and thus helps in removing mucus or cough that helps to ease breathing. This will also help to reduce the stress caused by excessive decongestion. CSIR-NBRI The NBRI is a Lucknow based laboratory that mainly focuses on botanical research work The institute is to transfer technology to Indian companies for commercial production The masks then produced with the spray are to be sent to the front- line workers fighting against COVID-19

What are Immunity Passports? Immunity passports are given to persons those recovered from COVId-19 and has tested positive to hold antibodies against the disease. The presence of antibodies according to immunity passports say that the person will not get infected by COVID-19 again. What are the issues? Though the idea of immunity passports has not been implemented widely, several organizations are opposing on adopting the idea This is because, it is unknown that how long the antibodies formed against the COVID-19 lasts in human body Also, it is unknown if this strain of virus is similar to that of the other strains such as MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory System) Also, immunity developed helps to protect the person from developing the illness but may not prevent from getting infected. Why Immunity Passports? The countries that have imposed lock down are now trying to return to normalcy It would be convenient for the countries when the citizens hold such a pass like that of the immunity passport This will help in restricting movement of people actually infected and allow others to lead a normal life
Ball Tampering considered by ICC recently What is it? How it works?
Tumblr media
Ball Tampering considered by ICC recently What is it? How it works? The International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering to legalize ball tampering. Why in News? The ICC is considering to use an artificial substance under the supervision of umpires to polish cricket balls as applying saliva risks the spread of COVID-19. The use of artificial substance has been banned in cricket. What is ball tampering? Ball Tampering is an action in which the player of the fielding team in cricket illegally alters the condition of the ball It is done to achieve favourable bowling conditions against the batsman Using sweat or spit to remove the mud or to polish the ball is common and is allowed. Why is sweat or spit used? The sweat or spit is used to make the ball look shiny. The technique is used by the bowlers after the ball gets older, mostly after 35 overs. The sweat or spit is used to make one side shiny and the other side rough. Logic behind it The swing of the ball depends on three factors namely climatic conditions, shiny side and behaviour of the pitch. The science of shiny side is applied in using sweat or spit. The cricket ball creates turbulence as its swings. In conventional swing, ball moves towards the side of greater turbulence. On the other hand, during reverse swing, it goes other way. Therefore, the bowler polishes one side of the ball to make it reverse swing. This is done to create challenging conditions for the batsman. What law says? According to the Laws of Cricket the subsection 3 says the ball shall be polished without use of artificial substances It can be dried with towel to remove the mud in the ball

The findings, published in the journal The Aging Male, revealed that, as men's testosterone level at baseline decreases, the probability for them to be in the intensive care unit (ICU) significantly increases. While it has already been reported that low testosterone levels could be a cause for poor prognosis following a positive SARS-CoV-2 test, this is the first study to show that Covid-19 itself depletes testosterone. "Testosterone is associated with the immune system of respiratory organs, and low levels of testosterone might increase the risk of respiratory infections," said study author Selahittin Cayan from the University of Mersin in Turkey, "Low testosterone is also associated with infection-related hospitalisation and all-cause mortality in male in ICU patients, so testosterone treatment may also have benefits beyond improving outcomes for Covid-19," Cayan added.12:14 PM 25 security personnel among 50 new Covid-19 patients in MizoramMizoram's COVID-19 tally rose to 1,958 on Tuesday as 50 more people, including 25 security personnel, tested positive for the infection, a health official said. Ziqitza Limited: The Second Wave of COVID-19 is Coming in Winter
The first wave of the Corona Virus has stricken the world with poverty, unemployment, and hunger. The economy is at an all-time low and the world has lost close to seven hundred thousand people in the pandemic. Europe is in shambles and the United States of America is number one in the total number of people infected. So it can’t possibly get worse than this, can it ? Unfortunately, yes it can.
Tumblr media
What is the second wave of COVID-19?
Every global outbreak or a pandemic has subsequent waves of the spread of the disease. We are right now in the first wave of the Coronavirus in which the original virus that causes the Corona disease is starting to spread around all over the world. The disease will spread as much as it can until it is weakened by the weather conditions (high temperatures in summer) or due to strong resistance by the hosts (humans).
But when the winter season comes, the mutated virus returns stronger than before as it now has the appropriate weather conditions and mutations developed against host resistance to propagate even further.
This cycle is noticed in every pandemic that has occurred during human civilization and generally the second wave is fiercer than the previous one.
What does History say about second waves?
Well, the most common and relevant example to compare with the 2020 pandemic would be 1918’s Spanish Flu outbreak.
Though several other reasons made the Spanish Flu spread through Europe like wildfire, the biggest one was World War 1. Soldiers were not given proper treatment because there was none, the famous ‘flu shot’ wasn’t yet developed which resulted in the enormous and uninterrupted spreading of the disease through squadrons.
Due to all of the above reasons the second wave of the Spanish Flu was the deadliest wave of any disease humans have experienced. Since we don’t have a world war going on right now but we still rock our lack of awareness, there is still the effort of spreading awareness and caution that the government is imposing on people which might help us out in surviving the second wave.
Will the second wave be deadlier than the first wave?
It’s hard to say at this point because most countries are still fighting the first wave of the virus. India itself has seen no significant decrease in the first wave so it would be hard to differentiate between the first and second when the second wave hits.
However, because of the above reason, we can be sure that it will be as dangerous as the first wave. The second wave will hit an already battered, diseased human population through which propagation will be easier as the number of cases will be extremely high. Also, the Corona Virus flourishes in lower temperatures experienced in winter. But then, on the other hand, there will be increased immunity and more cautious behavior exhibited by humans.
For now, the final statement would be: if you’re drowning in a well, it doesn’t matter if someone pours another bucket of water. So wear your mask and exercise social distancing.
How to curb the onset of the second wave of Corona?
It is being believed that the second wave of Corona will be harder to control than the first wave, partially because we still haven’t effectively stomped the growth of the initial spread. Hospitals, doctors, paramedics, emergency services providers and medical workers will still be overworked due to the high number of cases making it even more difficult to register the patients afflicted with the second wave. And as time wears on, people will start becoming more and more careless than they were when the pandemic started.
But it’s not all bad news. India has a high rate of recovery for CoronaVirus cases and that means a greater number of potential donors of plasma for Plasma Therapy. Read more about how a high recovery rate helps in the treatment of Corona on this Ziqitza HealthCare blog post.
More and more companies are shifting completely towards online/ work from home jobs which will result in less human interaction. Masks and other personal protective equipment have become common which brings down social infection rates substantially.
Follow the government prescribed guidelines and be cautious. Avoid social interaction as much as possible. If you are a person who is eligible for plasma donation please do so. Prevention is better than cure, but keep in mind there is no cure for the CoronaVirus yet.
How is Ziqitza helping in curbing the Corona waves?
Ziqitza HealthCare Ltd provides several services including emergency ambulance services 108 and 102, patient transfer ambulances to corporates , mobile medical units, and medical helplines in the pandemic for any sort of medical emergency. Ziqitza Limited also provides free transportation to the nearest hospital for pregnant women under the JSSK (Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram) program. The JSSK program aims at providing ambulance services to pregnant women for free so that the infant mortality rate in rural areas that have very little access to ambulances goes down.

PM Modi wishes Chouhan a speedy recovery, CM listens to ‘Mann Ki Baat’ in hospital
Tumblr media
BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday spoke to Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over phone and wished him speedy recovery. Chouhan, who is currently in a Covid-19 dedicated hospital after being tested positive on Saturday, also listened to PM’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ and appealed to the people to take precaution and follow the rules strictly. “PM Modi spoke to chief minister Chouhan over phone on Sunday before his `Mann Ki Baat’ radio show and wished him speedy recovery. The chief minister has cautioned the public to follow safety measures and also attended the Covid-19 review meeting late in the afternoon,” disclosed a senior official at the chief minister’s office (CMO). The chief minister also listened to Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme and also posted a photograph watching the show on television from his hospital bed as he retweeted messages from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). In the programme, PM Modi talked about several things, including Kargil Vijay Diwas, coronavirus, Vocal for Local, and Bihar floods, among others. “Today PM Shri Narendra Modi discussed many important topics with all of us through ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Today is Kargil `VijayDiwas’. The country salutes our brave soldiers whose courage is higher than the highest mountains of the world and will always be indebted to them,” tweeted Chouhan. The chief minister also retweeted PM Modi’s observations made to the public that people feel tired of wearing a mask but should also think about the Covidwarriors and their exemplary efforts. “It is true that a select few are not taking precautions. They are not only putting their lives in danger, but also threatening the lives of others. Our Corona warriors are much less praised. I urge everyone again, you follow the rules strictly and praise our warriors,” said Chouhan in a series of tweets in Hindi. Earlier, providing an update on his health, the chief minister said that he is fine and saluted the corona warriors of the state for their services. He also urged the people to inform health officials if they develop any symptoms of coronavirus. “Friends, I’m fine. The dedication of Corona warriors is commendable. I salute all the Corona warriors of the state serving the Covid-19 victims by risking their lives selflessly,” said Chouhan. The 61-year-old chief minister said people must use the major weapons against the viral disease to ensure they do not contract Covid-19. “Instead of being afraid of Covid-19, we should fight it with full confidence. Keeping two yards distance, washing hands and wearing masks are the biggest weapons to save yourself from coronavirus. I appeal to all the people to use these weapons for yourself and your loved ones,” said Chouhan adding that he was praying that everyone is careful and stays safe and healthy. Apart from PM Modi, senior BJP leaders including national president JP Nadda, union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Dr Harsh Vardhan and former chief minister Uma Bharti also spoke to Chouhan over phone and wished him speedy recovery. Uma Bharti said that after Chouhan’s message she also got herself tested for Covidand detected safe. “On Saturday, chief minister Chouhan in a video message had asked all those who came in contact with him during last few days to get themselves tested for Covid-19. I went toShyamla Hills on July 22 to meet CM and his family members. Now, I have got myself tested for Covid-19 and detected negative. I wish him a speedy recovery and waiting to welcome my brother at home,” tweeted Bharti on Sunday. The Congress however, took a dig at chief minister Chouhan for posting his hospital videos and subsequent tweets. “If no one is allowed to meet a Covid-19 positive patient in the hospital, who made a video of the chief minister? The hunger for publicity will not increase immunity, so don’t search for an opportunity in a disaster,” alleged Congress state spokesperson, K K Mishra.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a press conference that the coronavirus was tested by taking a sample of 529 media persons. But the joy is that out of so many, only three media persons have been found infected. Let us tell you that on April 21, Arvind Kejriwal had said that his government in the national capital would conduct a probe in the media to find out the corona virus infection. CM Kejriwal said this after 53 mediapersons in Mumbai were found to be infected with the corona virus. In response to a tweet urging media persons in Delhi to investigate, he said, "We will definitely do it." Only after this, Corona test was done for journalists of Delhi. Kejriwal said that best wishes to all of you, because you are doing your duty well even during this infection of corona virus. He also said that three people who have been found positive, wish God for their speedy recovery. Let me tell you that in Mumbai, 53 media persons have been found to be Corona positive, most of which are related to electronic media.
