Hello! Sorry to bother, I had this question in my mind for quite a while and it's starting to bug me a bit. I love Heartlabyul but there's things that I seem to have missed (or maybe the game never talked about them). Did they ever talk about Alice and/or the Mad Hatter? And also, who is the King of Hearts that Riddle talks about?
Tumblr media
The main story scarcely has the NRC cast talking about Disney characters beyond the Great Seven. (The only ones I can recall off the top of my head are when the group visits the Atlantica Museum at the end of book 3 and when Idia mentions a hero diving into Tartarus to save his love; there are obvious references to King Triton, Sebastian, Hercules, Megara, etc.)
Most mentions of Disney characters are relegated to additional content (vignettes, events, and/or voice lines). The Platinum Jacket line vignettes in particular contain comments on various Disney characters, both heroes and villains. This is true of instances on which Heartslabyul talks about Alice in Wonderland characters besides the Queen of Hearts.
Cater comments on Alice’s plight in his Platinum Jacket vignettes; he says that she seems troublesome or like the type to not look before she leaps. In White Rabbit Fest, (an event yet to come out in EN), Deuce and co. go to a museum where they experience many of the same things that Alice did; they even make specific reference to a lost girl (Alice). Trey’s Platinum Jacket mentions the Cheshire Cat, Ace comments on the oysters the Walrus ate in his own Platinum Jacket, Deuce tells the story of the White Rabbit for his hometown event, etc. These instances are scattered around and take some digging to find if you’re seeking a reference to a certain Disney character.
The King of Hearts is brought up via a voice line. More specifically, Riddle’s Suitor Suit card. He says that the Queen of Hearts had a happy marriage with her husband and that he wishes she would share the secret of a happy marriage with his own parents, which implies the Mr. and Mrs. Rosehearts have marital issues. If you’ve seen the Disney film, the King of Hearts is depicted as a small and timid man who cannot stand up to his wife, the Queen of Hearts. In the original book, the King is more juvenile and reckless than timid. When Riddle talks about the King of Hearts, he is referring to that.

Your friendly reminder that the original Mad Tea Party, which the Mad Hatter is famous for, was held at the March Hare's house

once upon a studio but awesome
Panchito and Jose are there
The Mad Hatter and King Candy quip about how similar their voices are (hi guys Peter Griffin here to explain the joke. Mad Hatter was voiced by Ed Wynn and King Candy's voice is an impression of Ed Wynn. Candy was voiced by Alan Tudyk, who voices Hatter in the short)
On that note, more voice actor related jokes, like how Pooh, Kaa, and Cheshire Cat all have the same voice (Sterling Holloway)
Someone, anyone, gets to punch out Frollo
Peter and the Wolf (Make Mine Music) characters show up
Johnny Appleseed (Melody Time) shows up
(they acknowledged none of the package films except for Ichabod and Mr. Toad and Fun and Fancy Free (saw the golden harp girl there) 💀
now I loved the short, don't get me wrong, I'm just sick of the three caballeros erasure 😤
EDIT: I was wrong, Jose and Panchito ARE in the movie, in the group picture at the end, along with Johnny Fedora, Alice Blue Bonnet, Casey, Pedro, and that ice-skating couple

This was why she enjoyed baking. A good dessert could make her feel like she’d created joy at the tips of her fingers. Suddenly, the people around the table were no longer strangers. They were friends and confidantes, and she was sharing with them her magic.

I bought a book called ‘Batman: Mad Hatter’s Movie Madness’ and it’s such a cute little book that features my favorite rat bastard. Here are some of the pages from the book.

Actually I lied, first a request from @diamond-punk0963 as a warmup !! I'll use your actual submission message later for one of the other requests (or if I ever revisit this concept)
But yeah ! Lil Mad Hatter inspired Spencer, ended up rolling with "scene"/gauge era bc in my heart that felt more fitting

When the villians are more sympathetic than the hero, you've failed. They should be at least equally sympathetic. For example: let's look at Spiderman. Despite me not liking Steve Ditko's Spiderman, I've seen Spiderman tv shows and movies and games. And you know what? I like the villians (I like Doctor Octopus, Mysterio and the rest), but Spiderman is a sympathetic character. His school life, his family life, he's relatable. So you can root for both him and enjoy the villians.
Not the case with batman. With possibly two main exceptions (Adam West's Batman and Batman: The Brave and The Bold), Batman puts me to sleep. His villians are compelling. Batman beats up the mentally ill for a living, and we call him a hero. What have Scarecrow, Riddler, Joker, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face and The Mad Hatter all have in common? Oh, yeah. Clear signs of mental illness!
And don't tell me batman can't fix this! Arkham could be replaced with a functional care facility, but batman doesn't want to fix it. I honestly think he gets some sick pleasure from beating up the mentally ill. I really do think that. And that's why I want batman dead. I would not trust him if he were a real person and I don't trust him as a fictional character.
PS: Also, Stan Lee gave marvel a better "voice" than DC. DC is boring and hard to want to read. Marvel feels fun, bombastic and exciting! DC just shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. Their characters back in the 50s and 60s mostly feel like cardboard cutouts to me. Not the case at marvel.

You show up to first day of art class and this is the color wheel. You end up learning how to commit tax fraud instead of what primary colors are.

‘We're all mad here!’ 🐰🎩
The Mad Hatter’s tea party is one of the most iconic scenes from Lewis Carroll’s (1832–1898) surreal story, "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865)." 🃏
This magical illustration is the work of Sir John Tenniel (1820–1914).
