It's late as hell but I needed to like throw out my Ralsei headcanons. I'll probably draw them later but like not today.

Mainly it's that I don't think Kris is put off by how much Ralsei looks like Asriel but more how little Ralsei looks like anything they've seen. I like to imagine that Ralsei just has a weird combination of human and monster features that leaves Kris on edge, a sort of uncanny valley thing.

Also I think it'd be funny if in chapter one Ralsei does kinda look like Asriel, just in silhouette. So when he takes off his hat Kris is kind of surprised by how different they look from each other.

There’s an animatic making its rounds in my mind too!

What’s an animatic you would want to do for Imogen?

Well first of all: I WANT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR ANIMATIC IDEAS PLEASE. 👀

And for the Imogen animatic! It’s “Do You Want to Play” by Starkid Productions (I binged a bunch of Starkid musicals a few weeks ago lol), and it’s specifically for moonsters!Imogen. In that au, there’s a moment where 10-year-old Imogen is trying to run away from home, but gets followed by Liliana and Otohan. Imogen finally wolfs out and attacks the two before running away. I thought the song would fit the lead-up to it (Liliana and Otohan trying to convince Imogen to play with them - in the moonsters au Imogen has a stuffed elk toy that Otohana tries to convince her with), and the end part (laugh/screaming) being flashes of Imogen attacking them.

(Okay overly detailed lyric-by-lyric shit below the cut because I am not normal about this silly lil au 😅)

If you’re just looking at the lyrics, the song starts out super sweet (“sweetheart” “my lovely girl” etc), although in the musical the context is super creepy. The animatic would start with Imogen hiding behind a tree as Liliana tries to lure her out. Imogen is (rightfully) scared of Otohan, but doesn’t fully know Liliana is a werewolf, so by the line “Some funny games today”, Liliana’s persuasion has worked, and Imogen peaks her head out from behind the tree. She sees that Otohan is also there and immediately goes back to hide, but not before they notice her (“Becky, look, over there”)

Liliana and Otohan sing together as Imogen is covering her ears, trying to block them out. Liliana starts staggering as she walks, and at the “Do you want some candy” line, she falls to her knees as she starts transforming. The next line (“I want you to come here so we can play”) is sung by Otohan, and is also the mental image that first made we want to animate this! They’re literally just in a dramatic singing pose lol, but then there’s a cut to both werewolf!Liliana and Otohan together, with red highlights.

And then finally, with the loud “HAHAHAHA” at the end, that would be more fully rendered drawings of Imogen attacking then running away. After that, there are (and here’s where I reveal I know nothing about music because idk how to describe it) two sweet-sounding things of music, which would be a lil animation of Imogen sleeping with her elk toy and slowly turning into a werewolf (which I actually sorta drew hehe). Anyways thanks for the ask and for bearing with this kinda long explanation!

Brand Mew Future: Toriel takes the role of Undyne. She isn't exactly the Toriel you know and love as she is much more stern, aloof, and detached from everyone due to certain events that struck both her family and friends altogether. Not to mention, she resorts to unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with her anguish which ultimately distorts her temperament.

Hands of Reality: Toriel takes the role of Papyrus. She's that type of grandma who makes a lot of cookies to make her grandchildren happy. The reason she looks so old is because her son Asriel is still alive and growing. Nevertheless, she is happier and is living the life she's always wanted! In a way, her character feels complete with a lot of development done in the background. Especially with the fact that she and Asgore have a healthier relationship here.

So, in Water Under the Bridge (the underswap take by Moonster) Goner Kid is swapped with Ralsei. Is that also the case in your Underswap take?

ooh I'm not familiar with that take but that's a cool swap :0

it's not one I'm using though; an idea I had pretty recently (haven't properly thought it through yet, it is just an idea right now) is that since I leave Gaster unswapped (because there's so little character to work with while Deltarune is incomplete, so until then I'm avoiding committing to any designs or headcanons for him) and most of the fun value events are in some way connected to Gaster, it'd probably make more sense to leave those unswapped too? aside from minor differences like referring to Undyne as the next Royal Scientist instead of Alphys, of course

in this case Goner Kid would remain unchanged, which I like more than making a Goner version of Asriel just for the sake of it when I don't have any inspiration to do so. plus if Temmie had access to some of those events during their resets, the thought of them potentially having encountered Goner Kid is fun :] (for me. incredibly not fun for them)
