Open my eyes, dear Lord! ...but not like that.
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY: The verse in this comic is summarized but essentially unchanged.  However, while the verse meant "their eyes were opened" in a figurative way (as in "they came to understand suddenly"), I depict the opening of the disciples' eyes very physically. Their old eyes peel open like eyelids to reveal newer, more understanding eyes within.  Don't worry, I'm sure the old eyes end up shedding like scales (like with St. Paul).  They won't be a permanent second pair of eyelids -- that'd be gross!

LUKE S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 24
Thursday, 3/28/24
Closing out Luke before heading into John 19 tomorrow...
SCRIPTURE:
They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. ~ Luke 24:2
OBSERVATION:
How many times to I come expecting to find something I can't move...
...an obstacle to service, prayer, or worship...
...only to find He has already "rolled" it away?
How many times it that obstacle the "stone" of my heart, my selfishness, my willfulness?
How often do I "roll it back" out of that same selfishness and willfulness?
...out of shame and embarrassment?
But it never completely covers the opening He's made...
APPLICATION:
Leave the stones where they stand...
If (when) He moves them, enter and discover His miracle, resurrection power...
From verse 8: Remember His words...
From verse 15: He comes near and walks along with me...
From verse 45: Let Him open my mind to understand - and apply - the Scriptures - His Word...
PRAYER:
Strong Father - roll away the stone of my will that keeps me trapped in my own tomb of selfish willfulness... In Jesus's Name and for Your praise and glory...
Yours, in Him and His strength...𝖌

It’s All About Jesus (Luke 24:44-53)
Likely, you have experienced the feeling, even many times in your life, of being ungrounded, lacking a solid foundation under your feet – not quite knowing what’s up or down.
“Road to Emmaus” by He Qi Jesus said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law from Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures. He said to them:  “This is what is written: the Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and a change…

LUKE S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 24
Monday, 12/12/22
SCRIPTURE:
Then they remembered that He had said this. ~ Luke 24:8
OBSERVATION:
After the fact...
The ultimate, "Oh, yeah..." moment...
How often do I remember - after the fact?
How often does it take the Holy Spirit to remind me... well after the fact...
How often is my, "Oh, yeah..." said not in wonder but in guilt and shame?
APPLICATION:
Don't wait 'til "then" to remember...
Remember what He said - and did - before doing... "before the fact..."
Remember why He said and did what He said and did - for me - even (especially?), after the fact of my disobedience...
PRAYER:
Speaking Father God - I ask forgiveness for having to remember Your Word and Will for my life, instead of always having You before me in all I think and say and do... Thank You for Your Holy Spirit's promised presence, keeping me on and returning me to Your Way when I wander off... Thank You for what Jesus said and did - speaking into my life and saving it from my selfish disobedience... In His Name, and for Your glory and honor...
Yours, in Him - gratefully...

The Resurrection
Luke 24.1-12 The women have a front row seat to the miraculous events of that first Easter morning. Though all hope seemed to be lost…the Hero was dead…God is not finished yet. God’s the Author of this Story, and when God tells the Story, there’s always hope. An astounding twist to the plot…the Hero is alive. Death is conquered. Sin is atoned for. The way is made available for us to return back…

The Anointed One is the exclusive Lord of the Kingdom
The Anointed One is the exclusive Lord of the Kingdom
1 John 2:21-23 – I have not written to you because you don’t know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie comes from the truth. Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Yeshua is the Messiah? This one is the anti-messiah: the one who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; he who confesses the Son has the Father as well. The apostle John…

"For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found." Luke 15:24
Though it's not about the birth of Jesus necessarily, The Parable of the Prodigal Son is my favourite passage so I wanted to try to illustrate my favourite moment from it today. Merry Christmas guys! 💛
