days 10-15 of my reading challenge:

i finally finished reading the first book of lotr yesterday!!!! and i lllllllove it!!! i have actually been reading it ever since my last post but because i only can read when i’m on the subway, i didn’t post anything. yesterday i was at the campus as i had three classes (*sobs*) and while waiting for them, i got to read and finally finished the book!!

i’ll read the second book of lotr!

11. do you remember the first book you read?

i don’t remember the name but it was a series for children where a little girl was going on adventures.

12. share the playlist you listen to while reading.

even though i asked the question, i don’t have a certain playlist i listen to so why did i ask this? i can listen to anything while i’m reading because i use music to block people’s talking. ever since i started listening bts, i guess i listen my k-pop playlist. it’s here if you want to take a look at it!

13. what is the best weather to read?

chilly! rainy! cold! autumn! winter!

14. which book quote would you use to describe yourself?

not a quote, but a poem: melankoli by sabahattin ali. i’ll try to translate my favorite part.

15. okay, share one of your unpopular opinions on a book/trope/author.

are you ready? i hate it when people use liking enemies to lovers as an excuse to read poor, toxic romance. and for me enemies to lovers is overrated too because i don’t get it. personally i don’t think i’d be able to love someone who tried to hurt the people i love or me. so i really don’t get it. and i hate it when there is a guy who is so toxic but everyone loves him oh because it’s enemies to lovers. and i don’t get liking “morally grey” men. i usually hate them. i mean i’m not saying you shouldn’t like them or read that kind of books but i simply don’t understand the hype. so, yeah.

The Dawn Will Take You

~A spell to bind those wishing you harm in their tracks~

What you need

Quick drying clay, mod podge, glue (even play doh will work)

Representation of those wishing you ill will or harm (I used Lego figures) a friend used rocks with faces drawn on them.

Paper to work on (to minimize mess)

A white candle

Cleansing Incense

DO THIS SPELL IN THE MORNING IF POSSIBLE, BEST AT SUNRISE

What to do:

Prepare yourself and your work space as necessary. I had to clear my head with a long meditation before this one, as thinking about the people in question threw my emotions out of balance

Sit for a moment and (if you can see or feel the sunlight) take a moment to let its energy fill you. Feel the heat, the light, absorb it until you’re ready.

Now, light the candle, breathing deeply for a few more moments, continuing to gather energy. Set out the representations of the aggressors on the paper. Followed by the clay, glue or mod podge.

As you think about the actions against you slowing, then ceasing altogether, press the representations into the clay, cover them in glue or mod podge and say “The dawn will take you, from flesh and bone, to earth and stone, and from now on, leave me alone.”

Keep them on the paper until they dry. Keep the items on the paper somewhere where the sun (or any light) will reach them.

Continue with more layers as necessary until they are solidified.

Repeat the chant above every time you add a layer. When it comes to it, unbind the objects. If they start the actions again, repeat as necessary.

Afterwards, cleanse yourself and the space of any negative energy. Meditate, ground, center again if your emotions are out of whack.

Upon rewatching TLotR: Rings of Power, I realised it's not as bad as when I watched the first time. There are many decent moments in the show, and it has the potential to be an even greater series if given the chance.

I consider RoP to be a draft. An essay of what the producers are trying to do. If the production team step up their game and try to keep at least the series' context more tuned to the books, then it would pave the way for more LotR series' in the future.

For example: the HalbrandxGaladriel (implied) alliance/romance was unexpected, but it was a nice touch for a portion of the audience. It doesn't have to be removed from the continuation, but it'll eventually have to fit in with the book lore.

Also, making Sauron look so damn attractive was a smart move. He IS a handsome Maiar, talented and brilliant at convincing people to folow his ideas. So even if his "romance" with Galadriel isn't canon, the essence of the character, his main traits as created by J.R.R. Tolkien, although not entirely faithful to the books, respected the lore and derived from it.

On the other hand, Mithandir's (Gandalf's) introduction was lame. His arrival to Arda had no meteor and no hobbits in it. Instead, he arrived by boat from Aman and was welcomed by Celebrimbor, the guardian of Narya, the Ring of Fire, capable of giving great courage and strength to its wearer. I wish they had remained faithful to that, at least. It would be interesting to see their conversation. And also, to see Celebrimbor explain the state of Arda to the Istari and offer him some advice as he was about to embark upon his journey.

1.) I love books. I am a book nerd. I love libraries and the smell of old books.

2.) There is nothing more soothing than a good cup of tea.

3.) Not only did I grow up reading Sherlock Holmes, I love the show Sherlock. I love John Watson. My English capstone was on Sherlock.

4.) I am a proud Ravenclaw and Potterhead for life.

5.) This is a two parter. A.) In high school, my friend group was called "The Hobbits", because we were unapologetic nerds that loved the books and movies. B.) That line resonates with me. I heard it and thought, "Oh wow. That is profound. I weirdly relate to that. Yeah, I would take those words and put them on my skin."

6.) I get my name from the glowly Goddess in the night's sky. Why not celebrate that?

7.) For Quentin.

You know, without the crippling fear of needles. And my family loosing their shit.
