Loring Park's Dandelion Fountain To Be Reconstructed

The iconic Berger Fountain, more commonly known as the Dandelion Fountain, was installed in Loring Park in 1975. In 2020 the fountain ceased working and reconstruction was prioritized by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Concept design work began in spring 2023.

"Iced chocolate nirvana at Dunn Brothers, near the North Loop neighborhood, with Diana Krall on a Sunday morning. Last night I saw the biggest conglomeration of birds I've ever seen. 4th of July Weekend Watermelon

Like this year, July 4, 1949 fell on a Monday. LeRoy Bolduc, 13, and James Haverty, 11, started celebrating early. On Saturday, the boys bought a watermelon and decided to eat the whole thing. They staked out a spot in Loring Park and started chewing. James gave up on finishing his slice, but the Minneapolis Tribune left the story with LeRoy still "munching on his portion of the melon, although the bites were smaller and farther between."

Hennepin County Libraries will be closed Monday, July 4.
