Phantom Azul makes me so ill... 😵‍💫 he's just so fine. HIS VOICE!!!!!! Tako has such a pretty singing voice. T^T like the melody of a siren. I would let him lead me to my death uuuwaaaaa. I want to say Riddle is Raoul because childhood friends trope with Riddle is so delicious and also to keep the Azul and Riddle rivalry alive and well here on merakiui blog. But maybe childhood friend Vil......... 👀 there is potential.

I think Azul in gothic horror/romance concepts in general is so wonderful. I saw this meme recently and thought it would be so perfect for a Victorian gothic au in which you're recently widowed and mourning; you take a trip to the seaside in hopes of curing your melancholia, only to find comfort in the embrace of the coastal town's local terrors (sea monsters)!!!!!!! orz orz orz there's something about Octavinelle railing you in a nice dress that's just so *chef's kiss* to me (if I had a Madol for every time I wrote Azul fucking you in a wedding gown in his mer form, I'd have two Madols. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange it happened twice. LOL). I know what I'm about. 🫣

fun tcwg fact but one of the hardest opponents lime has ever fought is actually corven, murdas (taller but younger) brother. because post-timeskip lime has zero magic attack capabilities and corven has a broken defense stat

#highest solid defense stat in the whole story #corven is the kind of character to get hit with a car and stand up without a scratch #lime beats his ass and thinks (heh easy) and then the guy stands up and only took 2 hp damage #an AWFUL fight for lime #i actually dont think he even wins i think mochi has to step in #(corven is ass against magic attacks just like everyone else) #but DEFENSE?? #naw #especially since his attacks also while technically magic are VERY physical damage based #rock fists essentially #think wriothesley but instead of iron gloves its stone #not a good day for lime #luckily this was a one-time fight and also was more of a (fight first ask questions later) type fight #they werent enemies its just that the first instinct in the magic community is beat the other guys ass if you dont know them #arrogant ass lime is like (watch this mochi...i got this one) and then struggles #(this guy is a monster) they say after beating his ass like 10 times and he still gets up #growing up as a worker in a mining city means you get rocks dropped on you for a living #insane nat defense build-up

How did we choose our recs?

Participating staff members picked five titles and ranked them. The only rule was that the series or season had to be complete as of December 2022 or been on the air without a break for over a year. This meant that split-cours and shows that began in 2022 and are still airing (like Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) were NOT eligible. They’ll be rolled onto any 2022 lists.

We always want to emphasize that our recommendations are not meant as a rubber-stamp of “Feminist Approval.” Rather, we aim to highlight shows we found valuable and think might appeal to our readers as well, with any content warnings or caveats that might apply.

How are they ranked? 

They’re not, really. We’ve highlighted our “top picks” that received the most staff member votes, but otherwise they’re just organized alphabetically. The team has varying tastes, as do our readers, and we didn’t want to try to put those tastes in a hierarchy.

I haven't finished the book but The Shining movie did Jack Torrence so fucking dirty. It's like they didn't even know the story, like they were given the synopsis for it and slapped some shit together calling it a day

I’m gonna make an insufferable fictional band called the Lamplighters that absolutely everyone worships except the MC to the point they question reality and some kind of wacky psychological horror stuff ensues. It’s a plodding band with tinny, dry-sounding production and a singer who sounds like he’s doing that “stupid voice” universally used to make fun of people. There is just nothing to defend about them, even cover bands who sound less actively bad are still anemic, empty, and bland just because of how the songs are. But insulting them is like insulting Beethoven and people will act like you’re some blasphemer out of your mind. Blah blah, some kind of reveal about the MC losing their mind, living in a simulation/alternate reality, or revealing a government psyop proceeds.

It’s all a parody of how I feel about Black Sabbath. It genuinely breaks my brain how absolutely disparate my perception is of them vs everyone else’s. There is just no way we’re possibly listening to the same band here. I can go on and on about the exact reasons why I despise them on basically every level musically but I’ll just be crucified and people will only think I’m more insane. So I’ll be positive. The only redeeming thing is Dio, and he could probably make even My Pal Foot Foot sound good.
