Stamford Botanics, Lincolnshire, Uk, has a diverse range of houseplants displayed over two floors in one of Stamford’s oldest buildings with an impressive beamed ceiling. Included in the foliage plants was the distinctive Calathea ‘Vittata’, a native of South America, with ornamental leaves having white stripes which appear hand painted.

The cacti and succulent window display at Stamford Botanics, Lincolnshire, UK, included Kalanchoe humilis 'Desert Surprise' (flaming Katy). This tender succulent is easy to grow developing large light green paddle shaped leaves with distinct maroon stripes and having long lasting flowers.

Complete Roman horse brooch.

I went to the lovely, historic city of Lincoln recently and saw this beautiful Roman brooch in one of the museums there. It's made of bronze and would have had coloured inlays, possibly around the saddle.

It's one of only two complete horse brooches ever found, this one was found in Lincolnshire by a local detectorist right at the end of the day's search. It's not very large and difficult to photograph through the glass case it was in!
