Published in January 2019, Jordanna Max Brodsky’s ‘The Wolf in the Whale’ is set in Northern Canada and tells the story of an Inuk hunter called Omat and their interactions with gods and spirits, both those of their own people and those of the mysterious invading Vikings. It was inspired by the fact that the Inuit and the Norse are thought to have reached Canada at similar times and though the two groups are not thought to have had much interaction at this time, the novel queries what might have happened if they did. Though Omat’s people are inspired by the Thule, the author takes inspiration for their traditions and myths from multiple sources, including Greenlandic and Alaskan cultures.
Born biologically female, Omat is said by their grandfather, and the tribe’s Angakkuq (or spiritual leader), to hold the spirit of their recently deceased father and as such is raised male. Omat is raised to be both a mighty hunter like their father and a mighty Angakkuq like their grandfather.

28. Sedna 👐🏽
Sedna is a goddess of the sea and marine animals in Inuit mythology, also known under various names such as Mother of the Sea or Arnakuagsak. There is probably as many variations of her legend as there is villages. In a certain amount of them, she's taken away by her father from a disastrous wedding (with a "fulmar" or a chaman for example) by kayak on the sea. But her angry husband uses his power to enrage the waves and kill them. To save himself her father throws Sedna to the water ; she tries to cling to the kayak, so the man cut off her fingers that fall off and become the creatures of the sea. Sedna sinks as well and so she becomes a vengeful sea goddess. When she's angry she may order animals to hide from hunters and thus causing famine.

A long, long time back (back in the distant year of 2009), a DeviantArt user by the name of "jisuk" put in place a collaborative project about Dark Fairytales for charity.
The idea was simple: gather several DeviantArt artists who would create together illustrations for a "dark fairy tales" card game titled "Broken Spell". It was a really cool project, and I still quite love it. Since it has been drowned since by years and years of DeviantArt growing into the strange mess it is today, I will copy-paste below some of my favorite pieces of this online deck with ther references. If you want to check the full set of art, check the folder jisuk created for the project right here.

Sedna
Don't mind me I just learned about Sedna and I'm having NORMAL thoughts and feelings about this.
Sedna is the name of a goddess in Inuit mythology, right, and according to Inuit legend, Sedna is a sea goddess who resides at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean. She's mermaid-like, and it's said that when Sedna is angry, she withholds the sea animals from hunters, causing starvation????
Such as badass move????
Sedna's story varies but it seems like a common version sort of agrees that she was tricked into marrying a spirit or bird creature, then betrayed by her father who tried to rescue her. Her fingers were chopped off, and each segment turned into a different sea creature.
THE PINTEREST BOARDS ARE CRAZY GOOD?

How much do you know about seal and selkie mythology? Do you have any Strong Opinions on parts of it, or a favorite?
I know a fair amount and my main opinion is it's unfair the only one people ever know is The Seal Wife. Like, did you know in some places selkies have very powerful weather magic and are greatly feared because if they're disrespected (aka if you kill a seal needlessly) they'll call up storms? There's a legend I think from the Shetlands where once upon a time on a remote island someone killed a seal pup and every time the islanders sent their boats out the selkies would call up a storm to sink them, and they weren't satisfied until all the men on the island committed mass suicide by jumping off a cliff. Selkies take debt and obligation very seriously, like in The Seal That Did Not Forget where an islander is about to take a seal's two pups to make a coat when he hears the seal make a human sobbing sound and sees her crying tears (seals do actually look like they're crying sometimes), so he takes pity on her and brings them back to her, and then years and years later his children are out on the sand bar gathering welks and don't notice the tide coming in, but just when they think they''re trapped and will be drowned a huge seal comes out of the water and carries them safely to shore. Everybody knows there are families in Scotland and Ireland that have a female selkie ancestor (The Seal Wife again) but did you know that it was also common for fishing families to have usually a young uncle or cousin who everybody knew hadn't really drowned at sea, but had gone under the water to live with the selkies? The idea that seals and humans aren't just related but can change places is actually pretty common. It's not just the folklore about Pharoah's army not drowning in the Red Sea but turning into seals, but also there are Alaskan Native legends about a boy who gets sent under the ice to live with a family of bearded seals so he can become a great hunter (and obviously seals have a whole society under the ice that mirrors human society above it), or about a young woman who everyone thought had died coming back into the village but actually she was a seal who had transformed into a human. Plus of course seals are the children of Sedna, goddess of all the marine mammals, who is greatly feared because if you displease her by not upholding traditions or by wasting the body of a seal you have killed she'll call all her children under the ice to her and humans will starve. There are a few versions of Sedna's story, the one I know best is the one where her father threw her out of the kayak to try to appease an angry spirit, and when she clung onto the side he hit her fingers until they fell off, but every time they hit the water they became a different kind of seal. Eventually she couldn't hold on any longer and sank down to the bottom of the ocean, where she lives, tended by her seal children, and because she can't hold a comb without her fingers they comb her hair for her. What's interesting is that around Lake Baikal people say that there's a Master who lives at the bottom of the lake and is in charge of all the seals, and when you kill a seal, because it wasn't raised by you but given to you you have to share its meat with other people, or the Master will be angry. So that's actually considered evidence for there having been some kind of either migration or cultural exchange between Alaska and Siberia way way wayyyy back because they're so similar.
Also in Celtic mythology selkie men are really really sexy, they're just so sexy no human woman could ever be expected to resist them.

Top 6 characters from my childhood/teenage years that shaped me more than I care to admit
Thanks @smalltownfae for tagging me and sorry for the delay! I had a lot of fun doing this, it brought back a lot of core memories ✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Athena - Greek mythology
Morgan le Fay - arthurian legends (+ Mordred)
The Morrigan - Celtic mythology
Mariel ("Tempête") - Redwall
Senna ("Sedna") Wales - Everworld
Mulan - Disney's Mulan
One of my first special interests as a kid were the different mythologies. I also loved Isis (Egyptian mythology) a lot. I still do, tbh. I also loved Redwall (as a kid) and Everworld (as a teen). And Mulan may be my first introduction to gender non-conformity 👀
I've already tagged a lot of people in other tag games today, so please do me a favor and consider yourself tagged if you actually want to do this? No pressure, of course!

Algol Rhythms ~ 9 Feb 2023
Algol Rhythms ~ 9 Feb 2023, Philip Sedgwick
The fixed star Algol currently deserves rumination. True, Algol stands out as a dreaded, even feared star with its mythological backstory. Also true, Saturn in Aquarius squares Algol’s zodiacal claim of 26 Taurus 27 (approximately the 2023 position). Saturn says Algol deserves attention for what can be extracted from its longstanding legend and lore.
Tumblr media
True, Algol rules decapitation. Astrologers claiming a past life in France during the guillotine heyday seemed more concerned about the lunar phase for placing angelica in white wine to maximize the bouquet. As such, research on the charts of those beheaded is lacking. This association is derived from the most evil star’s namesake’s decapitation after she was violated by Poseidon. As a result, injustice is also one of the keywords for the star.
Algol (Beta Perseus) is known by many unflattering names, including but not limited to: Gorgana, El Ghoul, the Demon Star and Satan’s head. Algol appears in the third eye location of the head of the once beautiful goddess, Medusa. She was a beauty with long, flowing hair. She erred by getting on the wrong side of Pallas-Athena, who arranged for the mayhem Medusa endured, including changing her gorgeous tresses into venomous snakes.
Algol is actually a three-star system in the constellation Perseus, the hero. Perseus, often depicted riding Pegasus, retrieved the head of Medusa for weaponization - whoever gazed upon the dreadful head of Medusa would be turned to stone. Perseus, equipped with gifts from the god - a reflective shield, Mercury’s winged sandals (he could fly with these without needing Pegasus) and Pluto’s helmet of invisibility, successfully retrieved the head of Medusa. As a result, he was formidable in battle, turning to stone and immobilizing foes.
This three-star system because of the orbital relationships of its components displays optical variability occurring every 2.87 days. Symbolically, one connected to Algol benefits from a conscious reset of personal luminance every three days or so. This may serve as an integral and vital component of transforming the negative interpretive portrayal of Algol.
Also contributing to a major reframe and upgrade of this star’s influence stands the consideration that Algol is now in the hands of a heroic god, who demonstrates extreme skills in applying all gifts of the gods. Ah, so one who knowingly and cleverly applies all god-given talents may thwart opposing efforts by adversaries by literally and figuratively halting their advance, and stunning them with the wonder of ones talents. That’s a very cool remedy to malefic assessments under a Saturn transit.
Given the work I’ve been doing to put my films on streaming channels, a heap of work is being done to get on the right side of appropriate algorithms. Sounds like the variability of the fixed star Beta Perseus... you know, Algol’s rhythms.
Those who got on the wrong side of an algorithm and now are bombarded by posts that are nonsense... and they can’t get out... not easily that is. For years, the intuitive appearances of ads and articles related to a most recent Google search can be infuriating. Respect cyber space!
Sedna in Taurus, for years now, has been influencing Algol by conjunction. (Soon a post on Sedna’s initial migration over the border of Gemini come mid-May). Could Sedna to Algol in delineation be the rampant use by cyber tech of Algol-rhythms?
Sedna, according to her node (Leo) and perihelion (Cancer), stresses the need for complete manifestation of real world well-being, then onward to soulful satisfaction. As part of this quest she insists upon accepting ones participation in current life conditions and ultimately their circumstances. Upon such realization, Sedna supports and urges followers to engage every and all effort for life and self improvement.
If one aligns symbolically with the resources Perseus demonstrated, perhaps Beta test remedies for the 2nd brightest star in Perseus, Algol, can be placed in conscious scrutiny and application. Perchance, life gets better.
And these symbolic resources consist of:
Perseus wielded the head of the gorgon as a weapon. So in the real world post and present only your stunning brilliance. Keep other in awe of your wonder. Post no ailments or insecurities online. Be bold, applying the fullest reach of you knowledge and wisdom. Let your talent be the declaration of your faith.
Perseus was granted a helmet of invisibility to secure the head of Medusa. Apply this concept to know when you need to clear your cache, both in cyberspace and within your psyche. Know when to be invisible. Verify than any post or life action most likely results in a positive life result before transacting. Know how to pick battles and understand the wisdom of not engaging with unnecessary nefarious circumstances.
Perseus possessed Mercury’s winged sandals. Be light on your feet, keep your balance. Avoid tripping hazards and becoming a tripping hazard for others. Stay smoothly in your lane. Ensure all footwear is comfortable. Shoes that hurt can certainly slow progress.
Perseus held a mirrored shield so he did not need to directly look at Medusa’s head. In the world of evil online Algol rhythms, this is a virtual private network (VPN). Get a good one! Put in on all computers and phones. Scan your devices for malware daily. In the real world imagine clear psychic defenses against negativity and shield yourself well. The old adage, “I’m rubber, your glue...” comes to mind.
Finally apply the rhythm of Algol. Every two to three days reset your psychic fortification against negativity. At the end of every three days assess all life circumstances. Those that do not head in a direction you seek, terminate immediately. Clear your memory of any recent event you might lambast yourself for poorly handling. Instead, apply the thought “I am more mature, wiser and henceforth apply all my life experience in an efficient and evolved manner.
As this all settles in, realize life is what you make it. Agree that you’ll be the best utilizer of all the tools in your skill set and affirm those attributes to the source of your creativity.
Continue to do this as Saturn wraps up the square to Algol, and more than likely, your refreshed mindset aids in creating a world of good. Remember, Perseus, the hero, has control of the gorgon’s head.
More soon.

As Empires Fall Chapter 16: End Note
So. My end note got REALLY long. So. I wrote this instead, so I could ramble on to my heart’s content.
****MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR AS EMPIRES FALL CHAPTER 16 BELOW THE CUT*** (Chapter 16 in my chronology, listed as chapter 17 in Ao3′s system)
I’ve mentioned before this chapter has been through a lot of iterations. Famously, I have a cut draft of it posted as part of 2022’s Azula Week. And that was probably the most dramatic variant, but it was definitely not the only one. So let’s go through them.
2022 edition: The climax of this is as previously mentioned posted as an extra, but essentially the plan was that, in close resemblance to canon, the fish would live and Aang would merge with La while Tui possessed Yue. This was a very early draft that became entirely obsolete once I started working on the Northern arc in earnest. This version also involved Azula’s rampage being triggered by Zhao attacking Zuko and any disturbances to the fish being largely accidental because… idk fam this was like 8 months ago I really don’t know where my head was at. I’m pretty sure this was the most boring version of this chapter where everything went perfectly- Yue fine, fish fine, all is well in the world
Throwback Thursday Fish Edition: I initially had Aang’s communion with Tui and La involving a series of visions of past forms they’d had, including orca-La + wolf-Tui (meant to invoke imagery of the Ahklut, which I also brought up as being engraved on the door of the room Arnook is in when Azula warns them about the invasion), both humans influenced by the mythology of the Māori and related groups (man La in canoe + woman Tui with a water bucket), human woman La + rabbit Tui to invoke Chinese moon rabbit legends, and an armless selkie/mermaid La meant to resemble the Inuit goddess Sedna + A dark skinned & haired feminine figure with silver freckling and one silver eye and one black eye for Tui (they’re lesbians, Harold). This didn’t end up making it in because it didn’t fit with the rhythm of the scene, but I still really love the idea and wanted to share it, so here
Yue Lives Edition (Generic): In the versions where Yue survived as a mortal, I had her staying behind in the North as opposed to joining the Gaang for the rest of the story. Her and Sokka would separate on good terms, as wartime when either of them could die any day isn’t a great time to start a relationship. It wouldn’t be a dedicated ‘I’ll wait for you’ but the consensus would be that they’d reevaluate after the war ends, but if they met someone else in the meantime that was completely fine. Yue would stay to help her people/promote feminism and would also be who Azula addressed DoBS letters to as political shade to Arnook + they’re friends + ‘Princess outranks chief’
Yue Lives Spirit Water Edition: This was the version where Yue’s survival was a result of Magic Spirit Water, because the water Katara was using did come out of the fish pond. But I wasn’t sure of the exact mechanics of Magic Fish Water, so I put it to a vote among a number of my mutuals and the consensus was that Spirit Water Healing, while powerful, is still dependent on the skill of the healer. And Katara is still an apprentice. So this option was dismissed fairly quickly.
Yue Lives Bloodbending/Divine Intervention Edition: This version had Yue surviving as a result of Katara accidentally learning to bloodbend, with this ability more accessible as a result of proximity to the moon spirit. In some versions this was influenced by La intervening a little to tell her what to do, probably influenced by Yue’s mother’s soul. In this version it was less an easy fix and more bought time for a more experienced healer to arrive and fix things, although it still would have taken time for her to recover.
So how did we get here, to the final version, exactly?
To be honest? I really don’t have a conclusive answer. I started out this story with the intention that Yue would live, and that was the mindset I had all the way up until like halfway through the Northern arc proper. But as things went on I started to waver on that. I literally didn’t know which way I was going to go until I wrote out the first thousand words of this chapter. And at that point… it felt disingenuous not to follow through. It just felt so off to me tonally, to have that scene be that deeply tragic but somehow magically end up fine. Sometimes a story needs tragedy. Things don’t always turn out okay. To win, often something has to be lost. At the end of writing this chapter, I realized that this whole time I’d been heading for this point. So many little moments and tiny details I’d threaded in that could only end one way, and to ignore the groundwork I’d laid would just be bad writing. Could I have gone back and changed it? Maybe. But I kind of like it better this way, even if it hurts. It feels more honest. More meaningful. It’s often tragedy that teaches us something about ourselves. It forces us to reflect, to really look at what we’re feeling. At what we might have done better. To find what needs to change. And maybe we find that there’s nothing that could have been done differently. But at least we can move on knowing that. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll know what can be done the next time.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT DAWSONS CHRISTIAN
I LOVE THAT SONG-
@nsfwitchy (you have good music taste pls gimme the rest of ur narrative songs)
IT'S SUCH A GREAT SONG. Also a favorite for singing along to, it can be so much fun in that telling-a-story kind of tone.
Man, where do we start, I love narrative songs nad I have way too many. XD Let's see, I might be stretching the definition slightly, some are more "songs clearly about a character in a way that sketches a story around it" if that makes sense, but --
Heather Dale does a lot, most is based on mythology/legends, but some favorites: Sedna, The Maiden and the Selkie, Joan, Skeleton Woman, Up Into the Pear Tree
SJ Tucker also does this a lot, often based on books. Seanan McGuire also does this a fair bit, but it's hard to find her music online. I am under the impression Talis Kimberly does this a fair bit too, but the only songs of hers I know well enough to recommend are Still Catch the Tide (which I REALLY REALLY do), Archetype Cafe, My Lady of the Underpass, and Small Mended Corners
Vixy & Tony: The Girl That's Never Been, The Collars, Ladies Don't Do Those Things, Thirteen, Persephone, Siren Song, Anna
Dessa also does a lot in a MUCH different tone; If and When is maybe my favorite, but also Mineshaft 2, Children's Work, Dixon's Girl, Skeleton Key, I Hope I'm Wrong, and if you don't mind some intense subject matter, The Lamb and Annabelle
Vienna Teng: 1br/1ba, Say Uncle, Shasta (Carrie's Song), Homecoming (Walter's Song), Passage, Grandmother Song, Radio
The Doubleclicks: Wrong About Gender, Now I Am the Fastest, Lasers and Feelings
Radical Face basically has like. a narrative career. at least three albums (the Family Tree albums + The Bastards) form the stories of various characters, starting with one family and sprawling from there. there are charts. the songs are beautiful alone and scratch this itch as well, but when you see the narratives develop it gets even better. special mentions: The Dead Waltz, Holy Branches, Secrets (Cellar Door)
Relatedly, Jordan Reyne's album Children of a Factory Nation tells a story through the album, and Mama Gina's album Nine-Toes the Bard is told in-character, giving the title character's life story and things that have happened around her
Dar Williams: The Christians and the Pagans; The Ocean; When I Was a Boy; The Babysitter's Here; This Is Not the House That Pain Built; The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of a Co-Ed; Mortal City
Sleeping at Last: Next to Me, Mars
Kat Flint: London Lullaby, Ohio, Saddest Blue Dress
Ani Difranco: Both Hands, Fixing Her Hair, Two Little Girls
I feel like I could name quite a few comedy songs that do this? Easier to make a joke from. XD But I'm specifically gonna go from the Brobdingnagian Bards for now, not all of which are original: Do Virgins Taste Better Medley, A Prudent Theif, A Fairy Story, The Unicorn Song, The Orange and the Green, Oor Hamlet
Misc:
Come On Eileen (Dexy's Midnight Runners)
A Better Place, A Better Time (Streetlight Manifesto)
Winter's Carol (Tori Amos)
Next to Me (Alan Cumming)
One Last Drink (Enter the Haggis)
Brother (Murder by Death)
My Manic and I (Laura Marling)
Anywhere On This Road (Lhasa de Sela)
Space Girl (The Imagined Village)
Home (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros)
Fairies Stole My Keys (Emerald Rose)
Taylor, The Latte Boy (Kristen Chenoweth, but also the Alan Cumming version is adorable)
Hit and Run (LOLO)
The Wintry Queen (Coyote Run is my favorite of the available covers)
Pierre (Ryn Weaver)
Magic Man (Heart)
The Way (Fastball)
Your House (Alanis Morissette)
Larissa's Lagoon (Idina Menzel)
-- I feel like I'm gonna hit post and immediately think of like twenty more but that is probably. way more than enough. XD

Legendaries, Manners, and a Not-Wendigo, oh my! Adding to Coldlun Region #2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let’s start with the non legendaries
————
Wendiboop, the scary child Pokémon
Wendiboop are rumoured to be small children who died of starvation alone in the forest. While nothing exists to confirm this, Wendiboop are quite childish. They are constantly looking for food to eat, and will startle other Pokémon to take their food
Type: Grass/Dark
Note: This Pokémon is not meant to be a literal interpretation of a wendigo, just loosely based off of it. It is inspired mainly by the original Native American tales of men becoming wendigos, but I did mix a little of the Hollywood version in for the design since I think the Hollywood version works just a little bit better for a Pokémon design.
———-
Smerci, the Thank You Pokémon
Splease, the Please Pokémon
Legend has it that a powerful Pokémon scarred these critters, as well as their descendants, for being impolite. Nowadays, these Pokémon are known for being meek, grateful, and polite. Parents use their tale to teach children the importance of manners.
Type: Grass
Note: These are inspired by the Iroquois tale of the Bear and the Chipmunk.
————
And now the Legendaries
———
Sednami, the Ocean Terror Pokémon
Sednami is widely feared across the region, especially by sailors traversing the northern waters. It is tradition to make a sacrifice to this Pokémon, lest you wish to be dragged into the dark depths where it lives. Legend tells of Sednami once being slighted by another Pokémon, which caused it to rage and nearly tear the land itself apart. It is said that the day Sednami once again attacks the land will be the end of the Coldlun region.
Type: Water/Steel
Note: Sednami is inspired by the Inuit legend of Sedna, ruler of the sea and, in some stories, the underworld. Her decapitated fingers turned into seals hence the seal like fins here. Sednami’s design is also inspired by artwork and sculptures of Sedna
————
Nanoho, the Life Bringing Pokémon
Nanoho is credited with bringing life to much of the Coldlun region, and there are many tales of it defending the region from various threats. However, Nanoho is also well known to have a devious streak, and it is most famously said to have slighted another powerful Pokémon, which almost resulted in the destruction of the region. Nowadays, Nanoho is said to slumber deep in the mountains of the mythical shell island, a island said to move on its own around the region.
Type: Fire/Flying
Note: Nanoho is inspired by various creation myths, but draws a lot from the Métis heroic figure Nanabozho, a heroic character with a trickster side. Nanabozho is said to be able to shapeshift into a hair, a coyote, and a raven, each representing a different stage of life, which is what inspired the design of Nanoho here.
——-
Opinaitaka, the Water Gatekeeper Pokémon
It is tradition to offer up a bag of food to ensure safe passage across the lake where this Pokémon resides. Its tail is said to conjure up massive storms that drag its foes beneath the waves, never to be seen again. This Pokémon is very elusive, but after a lucky photographer got a picture of it, its become a bit of a tourist attraction to try to photograph Opinaitaka. This has, unsurprisingly, resulted in many lives being put in danger
Type: Water/Dragon
Note: This Pokémon is inspired by Ogopogo, a serpent said to live in Okanagan Lake + Native American tales surrounding it.

Let me know what you guys think of these fakemon

Let’s start with the sea.
No.
Let’s start with a storm on the sea.
Black waves rising high like the curve of a skua’s wing. Grey clouds, light for all their anger, twisting back against themselves, petrichor in the air. White snow, a slurry, swirling down to mix with the angry foam – both white, both dancing – until the waters of the sea and the waters of the sky were indistinguishable as each other.
Against the water, a small kayak, bobbing up and down in the surf, the cries of its two occupants drowned in the cries of the spirit bird – his wide wings beating up the storm as he calls for his run-away-bride.

About the War of 1812 and the rescue of the remaining Native tribes at Canada and Unites States borders, for sure.
F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.
Oh, well... there are three at least, it would be so much to paste here! I can tell you that one of my favourite is the dialogue between Mary and the old peg-leg man at the dock, the one about the desperate sirens legend. The other one is probabily when Shay tells Gist about the myth of Inuktitut goddess Sedna. Oh, wait... also the dialogue Shay has with Van Der Meijden the first time at the brothel in New York. I cannot say I'm proud, I never am, there's always something to fix or add, even after I read it 10 times, but I think I like how the characters behaviours, emotions and reactions turned out spontaneous and realistic in those occasions ^-^
J: Write or describe an alternative ending to AC Defiants.
Oh my goodness, this is hard! I guess I never imagined an alternative ending... Mmh... Maybe... Connor or Shay getting corrupted by the helmet and killing a part of the crews, so they (both Templars and Assassins) need to co-operate to free him/them. Just throwing ideas to the table xD it may make no sense actually, but thanks for letting me think about it anyway!
K: What's the angstiest idea you've ever come up with?
Believe me, all those I had thought about, I've written them in the FanFic!! =P
Q: How do you feel about collaborations?
I'm fully open to them *-* They represent a great opportunity to grow as a writer and interesting things may come out when you mix ideas from different minds and points of view!
T: Any fandom tropes you can't stand?
Honestly no.
Z: Major character death—do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can't tolerate?
I wrote about some deaths, but not about major characters so far. I think I can tolerate most of them, as long as they provide a good development to the plot or other characters. The only deaths I would despite would be when they happen only to add some random senseless plot-twists.
I hope you enjoyed and had a deeper look at my FanFic n_n
Fly back to me whenever you wish to!
Love you dearly <3

Sedna, the goddess of the sea and marine animals, comes from which ancient mythology?
Tumblr media
According to Inuit mythology, Sedna is the goddess of the sea and marine animals. Several versions of the myth exist, recording Sedna as the Mother of the Sea and the ruler of the underworld. In one legend, Sedna grew so hungry that she attacked her father, the creator-god Anguta. Angry with her behaviour, Anguta banished Sedna to the underworld. In another version, Sedna disapproves of her father’s choice of men for her to marry, so marries a dog instead. After angering her father, she suffers the same fate and lives for the rest of eternity in the underworld.
There are several other versions of the Sedna myth, all ending in the same fate. In each story, when Anguta banished his daughter to the underworld, he took her out to sea in his kayak and threw her overboard. Attempting to save her life, Sedna held on to the edge of the boat, but Anguta cut off her fingers, forcing her to sink into the deep waters. Most legends agree that her fingers became the seals, walruses and whales that Inuit hunters regularly sought. If Sedna thought the hunt was unfair, she hid the creatures in her hair, forcing the Inuits to admit defeat and return to shore.
Inuit mythology or religion is the shared spiritual beliefs and practices of the Inuit, an indigenous people from Alaska, northern Canada, parts of Siberia and Greenland. The Inuit people do not always regard figures in their mythology as gods or deities but as important figures that represent the mysteries of Inuit history.

The mermaid had heard stories about vampires, werewolves, and demons the supernatural creatures that stayed on land. This made her interested in learning about them as she read about their legends in the historical artifacts she found and then restored. The female was excited when she rumors about a vampire that lived in a castle near the shoreline in the upper North. Other merfolk talked about it, but none had bothered to go look. This caused Sedna to gain interest in the rumor then decided to venture towards the castle to see.
She knew that her size was large even among normal merfolk, but this was not going to stop her. Nonhuman creatures were slowly vanishing from the world or were going into hiding. Finding other non-human species was extremely rare, but not unheard of. So in the middle of the night, the mermaid crawled to the shoreline to the point she would not get stuck in the sand. Glancing around, the castle appeared to be a few miles away higher up on the cliffside, but she would not be able to reach there.
So, Sedna decided to sing a song she learned through the historical records about songs that were sung to summon the creatures of the night. Her voice could be heard so well that even humans within a certain mile radius would hear her voice clear as day, but she hoped that the vampire might be able to come.
🎶 Ayy-oh, ayy-oh, ayy-oh, ayy And the voices rang like the angels sing We're singing Ayy-oh, ayy-oh, ayy-oh, ayy And we danced on into the night (ayy-oh, ayy-oh, ayy-oh, ayy-oh) And we danced on into the night. 🎶
