Magpie-1 Lemon Curd, and 1 Pie of the Month.
Maybe this receipt was from Geryon and Herakles. Geryon, of course, got the lemon curd. It’s the only pie he eats and he wouldn’t dare try a new pie, especially a pie they only have for one month. Herakles, however, is more spontaneous and easy going. He is up for new things and does not get as quickly attached and obsessive, so he tries the pie of the month. Despite their internal differences, they were a very compatible pair, and every time Herakles passes Magpie, he thinks of lemon curd and a small part of him sinks. (Autobiography of Red)
Found near 15th and South Street.

Anyway violence warning <3
[Lawrence Nighy died decades ago, and he took his anger with him. His violence, and the ache under his fingernails to claw at someone until he rips them apart.
But in spite of that, Lawrence Nighy stalks the woods, a too-familiar sword held in his skeletal grasp. He’s silent, through the brush, and he’s aware, now, in a way he never was when he lived.
Oh, what a hunter he would have made, like this. It’s almost a shame, that he went and raised a family instead.
The thought isn’t his own, but he can’t find it in himself to care very much. The sword may do as it pleases, until Geryon is dead and down for good.
The sword is aware of this. And it feels almost giddy about the fact.
There’s movement, in the rubble of the office, and he spins, taking a moment to let his bones settle back into place before he sets off again.
He can feel the ever-slow heartbeat of a dead man. And he doesn’t have the nose for it, but he can imagine the stench of rot that the man must carry.
Geryon Amnes is a foul man. He’s honestly surprised that it took him so long to accept that. He could have done quite a number of people a favor, if he just… didn’t stay his hand. Any number of times, he could have killed him.
It would have been so easy.
Much easier, perhaps, than having to hunt him like a beast.
But this is certainly much more fun.
Geryon starts speaking, once he seems to notice the skeleton’s presence, but Larry can’t listen. He’s not sure he could even if he tried. The thrill of the hunt clouds his thoughts, to a degree, and… he briefly wonders if it’s the sword that wishes he could watch as he tears this man apart, or if that thought is entirely his own. But there isn’t time to piece it apart, before he’s throwing himself forward.]

i AGREE! world building is amazing. anyways whats up with Arson Lawrence?
Sorry for not seeing this until now!
So! Arson (they/them) is a cursed flavor of shapeshifter where they can turn into beasts, but like, instead of a magical transformation it’s like. Horrific. Bones breaking and stuff and it generally hurts.
They also have an ability to channel magic over long distances very well, so for the first portion of their career, they were making a living acting as essentially an extension cord for people that are drawing magic from more powerful entities, because sometimes a patron wants their warlock to go do something but said patron can’t reach that far.
Through this line of work, they met Geryon Amnes, a generally shitty dude who was at the time a fairly big villain (he still sort of is but his title and command has been passed on by now), who gets all his magic from outside forces. And Gery has a temper and a bad habit of setting people on fire. So Arson was in some shit, and a local demon ‘took care of them’ for him, because said demon wasn’t exactly a stranger to murder, although his adopted kids had given him a change of heart by this point.
So Arson has to lean into faking their death or this villain is gonna throw a whole fit. So they go to a friend for help, and the fact that said friend is Aljena Cole, the right hand woman to the villain in question, is mostly a coincidence. They bond over the time it takes for Arson to settle into a new life, and they’re pretty good friends by the time Geryon gets murdered (twice) and Aljena takes over as Noren, at which point, she promotes Arson to second in command.
Aljena is trying to take the power of this villain role and kind of make other villains generally less shitty, and Arson is more than happy to let out a bit of pent up rage. They’re tired of being nice, and they want to go apeshit. They realize they’re nonbinary a little before Aljena takes over as Noren, so they find their new name in a joke about suggesting they just burn everything to the ground. Also they set several houses on fire, but they’re the houses of other villains, so it’s fine. Probably.
They are very loyal to Aljena, and at this point, she’s their main moral compass. They’re spending most of their time with generally evil people, so they don’t super mind where they sink their teeth, as long as it helps. …also sometimes there’s a bit of personal motivation behind it, but… the end result is the same.

[Geryon has Lawrence in his arms, and the man is curled into a ball. They’re sat on the couch, and there’s a blanket around Geryon’s shoulders, and some old clock chimes in the distance that it’s far too late for him to be awake.
This is the third time, now, by his count, that Lawrence has been brought back.
He hadn’t expected their dance to go on this long. And it can only last so much longer, before Erellise gets bored, or Lawrence caves, one way or another, and... Geryon can’t have that. When this ends, he needs to make sure the cards fall in his favor.
He leans into Lawrence’s shoulder, closing his eyes. He could sleep here, probably, if he tried. Which he fully intends to do.
“I’m going to kill you, next time. This... is an exception.”
Lawrence’s voice is low, little more than a shaky whisper, and Geryon gives him a gentle squeeze. He’s hopeful, in a morbid way... that that would be when Erellise would let him stay down. If he killed him. It wouldn’t be, of course, but now isn’t the time to tell him that.
“I know you will.”
Even if it would end his pledge, Geryon knows that Lawrence doesn’t have it in him to kill someone he cares about. Least of all, Geryon, most likely. He probably never will. But now’s not the time to tell him that, either.
Lawrence sighs, and pats one of Geryon’s hands.
They can only dance so long... and Geryon knows he’s going to have to be the one to end it. And he knows how he’ll have to do it. But... he doesn’t want to think about that, now.]
