One time I went to get an autograph from Oliver and James Phelps, and it was a panel. You had to pay for the autograph but the photos were free. So I took my photo with them but they were the most popular, so my friend and I had to move down the line. At the end of the line were two guys nobody was talking to so my friend and I stopped to talk. One of them was Ray Park, who played both Darth Maul in Star Wars and Toad in X-Men. The other was Lawrence Makaore who plays several people in Lord of the Rings, including Lurtz (the orc Aragorn fights with) and The Witch King of Angmar. I also found out he was inside the suit for Sauron during the opening battle, but went uncredited for it. Dude was huge. They were legit the nicest guys on the face of this planet. My friend and I stood and talked to them for quite a while and NOBODY else stopped. But they missed out. Lawrence Makaore is like a foot and a half taller than me, but he was a big old teddy bear with a big old smile. And Ray Park was hilarious, he was wearing a Star Wars t shirt with little chibi characters on it, including Darth Maul. I wish I had paid for one of their autographs now, but I was a poor college student and could only afford one. I did get photos though. Seriously a moment I will never forget.

Synopsis:

Natural Discoveries photographer Alex Anderson (Jill Wagner) isn’t particular about organization and deadlines, but she does have a passion for adventure and is willing to trek around the world to get the best shot of an active volcano, a wild animal or an exotic coral reef. Now if she can come up with the best cover idea for the magazine’s 30th anniversary issue, Alex has a chance to become the creative director and catapult her career. Discovering that pearls are the traditional 30th anniversary gift, Alex finds an article about a mysterious blue pearl lost in the Fijian rainforest. She pitches the idea of going to Fiji to photograph the pearl, which she plans to locate by interviewing the author of Pearl in Paradise, who claims to be the only person to know where the pearl is. Intrigued, her boss gives Alex the go-ahead on the condition that she photographs the pearl, but Colin Page (Kristoffer Polaha), the author, guest writes the article.

On the opposite end of Alex’s approach to creativity, Colin might write thrilling adventures, but it’s his main character, Blake Montoya, who does all the globetrotting. Organized to the hilt, Colin meticulously researches his books but ventures further than the library. In fact, while Pearl in Paradise has upped tourism to Fiji, Colin himself has never set foot on the island, opting instead to do phone interviews with a woman whose great-grandfather wrote in a journal about finding the pearl. Consequently, when Colin’s agent suggests he meet a photographer in Fiji to write a magazine article, Colin is less than enthusiastic. Not only doesn’t he want to traipse through a rainforest he’s also reluctant to admit he might have exaggerated about knowing the pearl’s whereabouts.

Nevertheless, with book sales dropping and wanting to draw back readers, Colin makes plans to see the journal, and is off to Fiji. Unwittingly meeting at the airport where they grapple over bags and she accidently steals his cab, Alex and Colin don’t get off to a great start. Still, it seems opposites do attract and when they realize who each other is at the resort later, the flirting begins. In fact, while shopping for survival gear the next day, they’re mistaken for a romantic couple hoping the legend is true – that those who find the pearl together will marry.

The next day, led by Fijian local Malakai (Rob Kipa-Williams), Alex and Colin trek through the bush when she slips on a rock trying to get a photo and he falls down an embankment acting macho. Their vulnerabilities exposed, Alex and Colin discuss why they’re still single. She admits she’s always traveling after the next great photo; and he admits every woman expects him to be Blake Montoya. He also admits he doesn’t know exactly where the pearl is and while she’s upset at first, Alex finally concedes that even if she’d known before the trip, she’d have still asked Colin to help her find it. The next morning, as the two head off to continue their search for the rare pearl, neither is aware yet that finding love could be the rarest adventure of all.

Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa (2018)

Synopsis:

After many years, retail designer Lisa Palmer (Jill Wagner) revisits her hometown in Evergreen, Vermont over the holidays. Upon arriving to Evergreen, she meets Carol and Joe Shaw (Barbara Niven and Malcolm Stewart), who share that the beloved general store she remembers from her childhood has closed. While chatting with them, Lisa runs into Kevin (Mark Deklin), the handsome stranger who she had met on the road to Evergreen.

Carol and Joe introduce Lisa to Michelle (Holly Robinson Peete) and the town mayor, who is struggling to sell the general store before the bank repossesses it on Christmas. Lisa offers to spruce up the store and hires Kevin as her contractor. As Lisa and Kevin work, chemistry builds. But Lisa and Kevin aren’t the only two experiencing a holiday romance: Sparks fly between Michelle and Thomas (Kevin Lawrence), a single dad visiting Evergreen with his son.

While cleaning, Lisa finds an old letter to Santa asking for a perfect Christmas like the ones before Kevin’s mom died, and assumes a young Kevin wrote it. Lisa and Kevin visit Kevin’s dad Henry (Darryl Shuttleworth), who has struggled to communicate with Kevin since his wife’s passing. Lisa shows the letter to Santa to Kevin – who doesn’t quite know how to take it.

After a store buyer falls through, Lisa realizes that one of her clients may be interested and invites her to town. Lisa’s best friend and business partner, Oliver (Andrew Francis), also arrives, surprising Lisa. Although their friendship is platonic, Kevin misinterprets Lisa and Oliver’s closeness when he sees them together. Lisa clears up the confusion, though, and both Lisa and Kevin contemplate moving to Evergreen full-time to pursue their relationship. Thomas also considers expanding his business down to Evergreen to pursue a relationship with Michelle.

Lisa’s client decides not to purchase the store but offers Lisa and Oliver full time jobs. Instead, they decide to purchase the general store and move to Evergreen. However, Kevin overhears part of the conversation and, believing Lisa is moving back to Boston, decides to move to Maine. As Lisa tries to catch him before he leaves, she receives encouragement – and a ride – from Dr. Allie Shaw (Ashley Williams), who found love in Evergreen herself last Christmas.

As Christmas approaches, the town uses the inspiration from the found letter to Santa to create a memorable Christmas surprise for the its unexpected author. With true love at stake, budding couples Lisa and Kevin and Michelle and Thomas look to Evergreen’s Christmas magic to help their new romances prevail far beyond the holidays.
