Lancelot knew a great many thing about a great many thing, and above all, he knew better; better than to be the way he currently was. His close friend and the king, had recently sent for his niece to reside in the city of Camelot with him to be better guarded from the dangerous that faced her now that her uncle was king. It had started with him stealing glances on occasion, but now the glances had grown longer. He yearned to speak to her, they’d yet to do even that, the most words exchanged being Lancelot’s greeting of “my lady” when initially introduced to her. He didn’t know what to do with himself or the feelings growing, only knowing that he knew better than this and today, he funneled that energy into training, unknowingly in the courtyard visible from the woman’s window, him shirtlessly parrying with another knight as the sun took its place in the sky.

HISTORY.

lanslot's father was one of uther's generals, having connected while trying to fend off the holy roman empire. though fighting for two different goals, mac conmara eventually decided to stay with the welsh army in an attempt to help protect against roman advancement.

unfortunately, lanslot's mother died during childbirth. a mere four years later his father was felled by a sword during a skirmish just outside tintagel's borders. despite being an orphan, little lanslot was far from alone. igraine took him in with her other children and uther took him under his wing just like arthur and myrddin.

lanslot was the youngest and most gentle of the three. he was also the only one who took more to a spear style of fighting as opposed to sword and shield.

the problem of Mordred

I don't know if someone has pointed it out before, but when I was watching the show for the first time, I didn't understand how come nobody remembered that Mordred was a druid when he was being knighted and why he forgot and forgave Emrys after season 2. Now I noticed a parallel between him and Lancelot. Lancelot is the "good" one and Mordred the "bad" one, but they have something in common: they say Merlin’s secret is safe with them and they cover up for him, because they know that Merlin / Emrys is doing something because he has his reasons. Maybe this is why Mordred in season 5 let things go: Emrys has to do things to fulfil his destiny and his deed in Witch’s Quickening came from lack of trust for Mordred so he tries so hard to prove himself to Merlin. And saving Arthur’s life granted him the knighthood despite being a druid, which at least Merlin, Gaius, Arthur and Gwen knew of, like it was granted to Lancelot, despite him being a commoner.
