Kienna Hargreeves
FANDOM: The Umbrella Academy
ENTERS: Season 1
FACE CLAIM: Kylie Bunbury
Age: 33
GENDER: Cis woman, she/her pronouns
SEXUALITY: Bisexual
LOVE INTEREST: Elyse Hargreeves
Tumblr media
Kienna was not one of the 43 babies born on that fateful day when women suddenly became pregnant. Kienna was not adopted by Reginald Hargreeves and she did not have powers. However, she did have the fortunate-misfortune of living right next door to the Umbrella Academy. Every day she would watch from her bedroom when the Hargreeves were allowed their time outside, curious about the kids who never left the house. Kienna had finally resigned herself to the fact that she would never meet the children when Elyse Hargreeves did what they were all afraid to do - she scaled the wall between their houses and knocked on Kienna's window, changing her life forever.
A midnight friendship blossomed between the two girls that lasted for years. Then Ben died. And slowly, one after the other, the Hargreeves children stopped appearing outside until, finally, Elyse stopped appearing at her window. And then Kienna and Luther were the only ones left.
Life went on - Kienna moved out, went to university, got a degree in psychology, got a job as a therapist. Everything was normal. Until the fateful day Elyse showed up at her day, asking for a place to stay while she tried to get sober. And, well, she'd never been able to say no to Elyse.
Time passed, and before they knew it, they had fallen for each other. Dating, engagement, marriage, insemination - it passed in a wonderful blur. They were finally happy and looking towards their future as a family. That is, until the news of Reginald Hargreeves death reached them and they decided to go to the funeral. And then Elyse's missing brother showed up, not looking a day over thirteen.
Well. Kienna knew what she was getting into marrying Elyse, but man, if she'd known her family was this bonkers she would have had a whiskey before dealing with the end of the world.

What are your top 5 shows that you would recommend to someone??
AHHHHHHHHH!  I love talking about my favorite shows.
Okay, so I’m going to exclude most anime (since most of the anime that I would slide onto this list are ones that most people who follow me have probably watched!)  I’m also going to exclude a lot of shows that I would classify as ‘tumblr darlings’–Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, Queer Eye, Stranger Things, etc.
So, in no particular order (other than the order in which they come to mind!)
1. The Umbrella AcademyProbably no surprise to people who have been on my blog recently.  But what can I say!! I’m a simple person!  I like superheroes!! I like family dynamics!!! I like clean, snappy writing!!! I like well-choreographed fight scenes set to cool music!!  I’m easy to please.  For the unfamiliar, TUA revolves around the premise that on October 1, 1989, 43 women give birth–43 women who had not been pregnant when they’d woken up that morning.  A billionaire, Reginald Hargreeves, sets out to adopt as many of these children as he can.  He gets seven.  He trains them to be superheroes, and 30 years later, they have grown apart from other, only to be reunited by his untimely death.  It’s obviously a lot more complicated than that, and I could talk about my TUA feelings for AGES, but if it sounds like it might be up your alley I think its worth checking out.
2. A Series of Unfortunate EventsAnother Netflix show!!!  The plot for this one is basically self explanatory (it is, if you haven’t read the books or watched the show…a series of unfortunate events, as experienced by our poor, dear, orphan protagonists–Violet, Klaus, and Sunny).  In many ways I find it a lot heavier and darker than, say, TUA, but it’s a genuinely good show and I’m very attached to the main characters.  Of course, I acknowledge that I might be biased–ASOUE was a major part of my childhood and I love it very much.
3. GalavantThe people who cancelled Galavant? COWARDS.  FOOLS.  I mean, medieval musical sitcom??? With a racially diverse cast???  The birthplace of such bops as  “Off With His Shirt” ft. Kylie Minogue, and My Dragon Pal and Me. Please watch it.  Fun fact: sometimes I just sit on the ground and feel sad that this show only got two seasons and eighteen episodes.
4. Schitt’s CreekI’m currently making my way through it, but it as underrated sitcom along the same lines as The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, about a rich family from New York who go bankrupt and are forced to move to a small town that they bought as a joke.  It improves in quality as the seasons pass, and has been bringing me a great deal of joy!!
5. Mob Psycho 100The reason why I said ‘most anime’  is because I knew that I absolutely could not get through this list without mentioning Mob Psycho, regardless of its popularity.  From it’s, quite frankly, absolutely ridiculously high quality animation, to its character work, and its writing, and its themes, MP100 is destroying my life and means more to me with every passing day.
Honorable mentions that didn’t quite make the list but that you can also interrogate me about or that are also worth checking out if you haven’t watched them already: RWBY (overall amazing, though the most recent season had some issues that kept it off the list), Killing Eve (I’m loving it but only halfway through season one!!), Legion Season 1, and the Runaways!

Fake title - You Should See My Knife Tricks
fake fic title ask game!
pulling out an old fandom for this one but without a single doubt in my mind, Diego mf'ing Hargreeves. it's too fitting.
perhaps one night, when a new journalist shows up to write about an event he's boxing in, the fresh meat getting the worst jobs, he catches her eye. she feigns a disnterest in his skills, prompting him to drop his knife skills. (and skills elsewhere)

Kylie Hargreeves • Zero: The Bomb • Ignite Me
On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began.   Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.  Kylie Hargreeves was one of them.
Gifted with the ability to manipulate energy, Ky was given the highest honour; number Zero, the Bomb.  While she was treated better than her siblings, she saw the suffering they endured, and did her best to defend them, but after Number Five disappeared, nothing was the same.
She tried to hold her family together, but in the end they still fell apart, and she never thought that she would see them again.  But then their father dies, and the siblings are forced to reunite.  But they aren't the same as Ky remembers them, and frankly, neither is she.  She can handle temperamental siblings and a lifetime of resentments, but can she get them to cooperate long enough to stop the apocalypse?

Randomestfandoms-OCs’ first batch of Umbrella Academy OCs
Tumblr media
Name: Alice Hargreeves
Alias/Number: 8, The Heart
Story: Six Impossible Things
Face claim:  Sophie Cookson
Power: Empathy
On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began.   Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.  He got seven of them.
And then, an eighth.  Five years after the mysterious births, Alice's parents died in an accident, and she was quickly taken in by the billionaire.  Unfortunately, she turned out to be even more useless than Number Seven. An empath, not only were her powers useless, but they made her weak and unreliable.  On the day they turned eighteen, Alice parted ways with her siblings, moving across the country to become a licensed psychologist, using the same powers that had always been mocked.  She's finally happy, when her father dies and she has to return home. But when Number Five shows up, not looking a day over thirteen, Alice has to help stop the apocalypse, and learn the truth about her own powers along the way.
Tumblr media
Name: April King
Alias: The Siren
Story: Siren Song
Face Claim: Cara Delevigne
Power: Uses her voice as a means of controlling people (especially when singing)
In 1989, forty-three women simultaneously give birth, despite showing no signs of pregnancy prior to each birth. Seven are found and adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who raises them as a superhero team.  April King is not one of those seven, but she grew up only two blocks away from them.  She befriended Diego at a fairly young age, and by the time the siblings drift apart, the Kraken and the Siren are an unstoppable team.  But when April accompanies Diego to Reginald Hargreeves’ funeral, she finds herself caught up in the Apocalypse and, even worse, family drama, and even she might not be able to talk her way out of this one.
Tumblr media
Name: Kylie "Ky" Hargreeves
Alias/Number: 0, The Bomb
Story: Ignite Me
Face claim:  Brie Larson (Kiernan Shipka & McKenna Grace for younger ages)
Powers: Energy manipulation

Name: Lindsey Hargreeves
Alias/Number: 0.5: The Void
Story: Colder Than This Home
Face claim:  Holland Roden
Powers: can shut off (“void”) or amplify others' powers
On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began.   Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.  He got eight of them.  Lindsey Hargreeves was both the most useful and useless of them all. Known as 0.5, or The Void, she had the power to shut off or amplify her siblings' powers, but could do nothing for her own.
She left the day she turned sixteen, planning to never look back, ready to live in a world without superpowers.  For over a decade, she lived in peace, until her father's death forced her to return home and face the life that she swore never to return to.
Tumblr media
Name: Virginia West
Number/Alias: N/A
Story: Written In Stone
Face claim:  Melissa Benoist
Power: Can write things into reality
On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began.   Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.  Virginia West was not one of them.
While her parents loved her, they were often away, and Virginia found solace with her beloved books.  A love of reading quickly turned into a dream of writing, but when she started her first story, at only nine years of age, Ginny learned that she was different.  As she wrote, her characters and stories came to life around her, and the more she wrote, the more real they became. Desperate to understand her own powers, Ginny found her way to Reginald Hargreeves, and to the Umbrella Academy.

Kylie Hargreeves • Number 0, The Bomb • Ignite me
Powerful, controlled, and a leader, she has more than earned her rank.  But she cares too much about her siblings, and challenges my decisions. (x)
