Random facts about my Au pt.2

Mobius is divided into 7 kingdoms. They are divided into zones that are governed by the dukes.

Each kingdom has their own time stone and those are connected to one of the 7 moons around the planet .

Also each royal family of each kingdom gets powers from the respective time stone.

The kingdoms are:

Verdena - kingdom of electricity (green) - the Hedgehog dynasty

Aqualis - kingdom of water (blue) - the Aqueste dynasty

Girrispia - kingdom of light (yellow) - the Acorn dynasty

Violia - kingdom of darkness (purple) - the "Blackarms" dynasty

Rubris - kingdom of fire (red) - the Sol dynasty

Ciana - kingdom of air (cyan) - the Aria dynasty

Terracia - kingdom of earth (orange) - the Peacock dynasty

I looked for map references and fell back on Avenza again: they really are a valuable vintage map resource. Cannot recommend highly enough. (Also their digital maps are georeferenced!) They don't have geological maps, but they do have a few styles of world maps. I'm going to hop back into SSkies to get a better idea of where the climates, orientations, and geological formations are~

A Wedding Crashing Odyssey

Today's story starts off like a lot of others in the Mushroom Kingdom. It was a peaceful day and the citizens were enjoying the weather and even chatting amongst each other. Though for the Mario Bros., they were just hanging out with their good friend from the Cosmos Kingdom, Brandon Astral. As Brandon was telling the bros about his latest adventure with his friends from Mobius, where they had to basically put together a planet sized puzzle to defeat an ancient dark deity

"Mamma Mia, that sounds absolutely crazy" Luigi said

"No kidding. I mean I heard of shaking the planet to its core, but not busting it open into seven pieces... But despite the whole incident and even having to get used to being a girl for most of that adventure, it was really fun to explore the planet in its entirety! It makes me want to do the same in our world someday" Brandon said

Maybe it’s an odd time to bring it up, but it is Valentine’s Day. Sonamy and Sonally have been one of the biggest ship wars in the franchise. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be as much of a thing as it used to be, but there is still occasional bashing or something. After some deep thought, I think I came up with an answer to make both sides happy.

It has nothing to do with Amy or Sally. It depends on the VERSION of Sonic.

When you think about it, Archie/SatAM Sonic and Mainline Sonic are actually pretty different. With SatAM and Archie, Sonic was born in a monarchy and had a steady home, even when fighting in a war. He’s used to being in one place. He also fought Robonik/Eggman because he had to, freeing the planet and restoring the kingdom. As for the games and IDW, Sonic travels the world and fights Eggman because he wants to, not because he has to. It may not seem like much, but they are key factors. These different lifestyles show more of who would be a better partner for him. Sally has responsibilities as a princess and leader. Even if Eggman is defeated for good, she will still be bound to these duties. Amy, on the other hand, is more adventurous and loves trying new things. She may settle down at times, but she still loves to travel. Both girls are compassionate and ready to help others and can even take the lead when they have to, but go about it in different ways. Sonally is a case of opposites attract and Sonamy is more kindred spirits.

While Sonic and Sally clash at times over how to plan, they work together to pull them off. They are more at ease when they don’t have to be on missions, and more overt about dating. They are also childhood friends in these continuities, knowing each other longer than their other friends. This led to their feelings becoming stronger over time. Sally has grown more into being on the battlefield, but usually works more behind the scenes or deals with the more technical or planning while Sonic takes most of the action.

Sonic and Amy both love adventure and sometimes act before they think. They also go out of their way to help others without a second thought. Amy may be a big romantic, but her relationship with Sonic nowadays is more on the subtle side and no less important and sweet. She used to chase after Sonic, but wasn’t so blinded to put her own desires ahead of others. Amy is also one of the first people Sonic met in his fights against Eggman. Amy also trained herself to be stronger to stand by Sonic’s side so she could protect him like how he protects her.

I do want to talk about the X Years Later/Light Mobius arcs in Archie. In that timeline, Sonic and Sally are married and rule as king and queen. While at times he’s not always happy with being king, he loves Sally enough to accept it. He was even willing to be her royal consort until they could be wed in Archie issue #124 (which is probably the most out of character moment compared to his game counterpart ever). And while we never see Amy in those arcs, Ian Flynn has said a few times on the Bumblekast he thinks Amy would be traveling around with the Time Stones. I thought that was a cool idea, and that feels more like the kind of life the mainline Sonic would want to have.

I kind of feel obliged to bring up Elise. Most people may not like it, and I prefer them as friends, but she was also written as a love interest. Anyway, in one scene Elise asks Sonic if he’ll leave after Dr. Eggman and his plans for Soleanna are stopped, which the hedgehog confirms. Despite what feelings he may have for Elise, he’s not going to give up his lifestyle just to be with her. And I do not mean to make it sound mean, it’s just who he is. A free spirit, free as the wind. And in Sonic and the Black Knight, he is revealed to be the true King Arthur, but he doesn’t accept it. He’s uncomfortable with how the other knights bow to him. I find it hard to believe this Sonic would want that kind of life for anyone, even if Sally was part of the main continuity. She wouldn't give up her duties for him either. A steady relationship or royal lifestyle just isn’t for Sonic’s game counterpart. In issue #2 of IDW, Amy knows Sonic can't be held down and respects his decisions. She loves Sonic for who he is and doesn’t want to change him. Instead, she’s fine with just going on adventures with him. Living in the moment. It’s not the life she initially wanted with him, but it’s enough for now. It does feel like they have become closer after Forces. The game was far from the best, but the premise of spending six month apart is a good way to build something up for them.

The reboot in Archie kind of proves this point about the relationships as well, albeit unintentionally. While the main reason is the new mandates were that game characters could not date, Sonic and Amy felt a lot closer than before. Sonic and Sally were also confirmed to only have a platonic relationship in the new timeline. This is due to Sonic’s past now being closer to his game counterpart rather than SatAM. He’s still part of the Freedom Fighters, but still has his world traveling roots. For example, he came to Mobotropolis after Eggman took over instead of living in the city at the time.

Sonamy and Sonally are both valid ships and deserve support. But don’t hate on the other when it’s the version of Sonic that truly matters for deciding who is the better match for him.

Charlotte was a sailor who split her time exploring and fishing with her crew

she may or may not have been a pirate

Maurice was a skilled carpenter who worked from his home workshop in Port Mobius

he was just a humble, if a bit on the quiet side,

the two met by chance when Charlotte was exploring the area while Maurice was trying to get groceries

instantly charmed with one another, they kept in touch and she made it a point to always come back to see him every chance she could

after about 5 years of this she proposed to him and the two were married the next day

Chuck was born shortly after (honeymoon baby)

he mostly stayed on the mainland with his father while Charlotte continued working on the high seas

Julius was born when Charles was 12, and Pauline Pauli when he was 19

Chuck left for college early at 16, so he wasn’t particularly close with his younger brothers until they were practically adults

Jules ran away when he was 13 to join the circus, completely cutting off contact for nearly 5 years

At 17, he and several other members of the circus (including Argus) were arrested in Casino City after being framed for treason by a rival performance troupe. Due to their age however, the two were given an alternative to jail time: enlistment, which they begrudgingly accepted (this was HIGHLY illegal btw, as both were underage and therefore not qualified to be enlisted)

around 3 years into service, Chuck got wind of the bullshit charges placed on his brother and threatened to raise hell if the two were not brought back home immediately

Jules and Argus were then hired as a part of the Royal guard where they were charged initially with guarding King Max’s son, Crown Prince Nigel

Pauli avoided trouble growing up, having taken more after his father than his lovely, impulsive older brothers

Ihe developed a passion for piloting and decided to start his own delivery business, which would be how he would meet his future wife Bernie

Hatshe is the matriarch of a powerful magic guild, the Rising Sun, though she has retired from any official position

the Rising Sun was formed by Aman-Rapi long ago

Hatshe met Olgilvie when traveling through the Kingdom of Mercia when the then King requested the aid of the Rising Sun’s strangest magician (they had meant to request “strongest” but their had been a slight typo, luckily for them Hatshe was both)

Bastard son of a a duke, Olgilvie was knight renound for his skills with a blade as well as the strings

he was assigned to aide Hatshe in her assignment

the two did not get along initially, as both were headstrong individuals who had their own way of doing things, but eventually became friends, and later lovers

He ran off after her once her assignment had been completed and continued courting her back home

Layla is Aleena’s older sister, as well as the current leader of the Rising Sun

Though she may appear calm, collected, and regal, outside of official appearances she is a very much a dork who is not above a little mischief

she met Terios when the were children during the family’s travels

more specifically, she found his half dead body lie partway out of a river bank

he was taken in to the guild, where he showed strong promise in healing magic

despite some initial mishaps, the guild has been thriving under her leadership

"You're a tourist in the mushroom kingdom when as the final destination of your tour around the country, you decide to visit the castle, where the country's princess "peach" lives and works. As you go to the castle peach greets you and a couple of other tourist like you, you're lucky that you've arrived in the castle's short time period where it's open for the general public(it's useally for 4 hours in the afternoon) You guys see many parts of the castle, just wondering in awe by the infrastructure, but as you do this you accidentally go away from the tour group, now you try finding your way back when one of the doors you open leads to the enclosed backyard which functions as a garden. For a minute you forgot that you just got lost and look around, many type's of wonderful plants are here, although it's mostly flowers and fruit bush's, as you look around you see a pink rose-like which has a crown on the top of it, you can't believe that flower has a crown on the top of it so you lean closer, but as you do the rose suddenly brusts out pollen, and that makes you cough and barely take in oxygen, but after that inital shock, you begin to feel differently, sweet aroma's take over your sense's and your vision becomes blurry and colorful, and then your mind completely blanks out…

5 Hours Later

Peach strolls into the garden to water some plants and to calm herself down for a bit and forget the international relations conflic about fruit export with the mobius country,and as she does that she hears moaning sounds. "Wh-who is it" - says as she handles the watering can into an attacking position, looks around and sees a fellow human completely delirous, just knocked out on the gravel "Oh your poor thing" - says as she runs to you "What happened over here?" - says again as she looks to the plant you where sleeping by. "Dang it, it's those peach flowers again that e.gadd gave me for my birthday, i mean i appricate his efforts to create some flowers based on human liknesses with science, but they are causing me way too much trouble in the spring time when these emit pollen daily. I mean the amount of guys i needed to have sex with just cause the flowers makes them extremely horny for me and the only way to counteract it is to fuck them are way too high for someone like me", she then sighs. "And you're gonna be one of these lucky bastards don't you?", you proceed to respond nothing but with more moaning "Gimme your leg, time to get peachy hihi" says in a kinda cute voice as she grabs your leg and drags you across the garden into the castle."

The cruelest part is its introduction. Did you realize [Nabokov] killed her off? I didn’t. Who reads an introduction? But it is true. Right away, without ceremony, he undoes her. He anticipates any attempts on the part of her readers to help her, to free her, to resist the text by imagining her beyond its borders, by allowing her, perhaps, an adulthood. He withholds this—the great gift of any fiction—the margin beyond which characters may persist. Before we ever meet her, he nails her down in her coffin. The book is her tomb—she’s walled up in it. He knew what he was doing; he was no fool. He bricks her up with offhanded casualness in the masonry of the book. The only life she is allowed is the life he gives her. Dolly Hayes tries and tries to break through, she is a scintilla in the book, a bright rebellious flicker in the margins. But he is so tightfisted, so malicious—that he will not allow her to draw a single breath in another person’s imagination, let alone her own. ^ i don't think this is fair on nabokov and i think this desire to rescue dolores from the narrative and imagine her outside of it or whatever is fundamentally at odds with a coherent engagement with the book -- the attempted totality of humbert's narrative vs the moments where dolores can 'break through,' so to speak, is stronger for that scarcity -- like sorry but i think dolores dying is one of the strongest choices made in the book lmao. i can see what it does for people but personally i find the reluctance to confront dolores' death and account for it as a narratological device rather than a real thing that happened to a real person kind of silly.

Sol Dimension theories:

Cosmically speaking more stable. This effects everything and nothing due to some convergant evolution. The stars take longer to die, and there are less comets, so the sky is more peppered with gentle stars than Mobius/Chaos Dimension which has fewer but they're brighter.

Hotter. Heat energy rules supreme and is the basis of all chance. Hotter places have more living things in them. People are built to withstand heat.

The mobius equivalent planet has a name that translates to Sun-Worshipper, and the belief was that the Sun doesn't rise and fall, but the planet eternally bows, so turning itself around. That's nothing to do with anything, I just think it's cute.

'Guardian Princess' is originally a warrior title, not a poltical one: it is typically the person with the most connection to the Sol energy, and who is therefore entrusted by the previous guardian to take care of the Sol Emeralds, which naturally drift to the place of most heat, so the Sol kingdom/ Empire (it's been through changes) was decreed as also belonging to the Sol Emeralds, and by extension the Guardian, because that's where they are most stable. This is different to the Chaos Emeralds, who whizz around to Chaotic places, which are often volcanoes and haunted graveyards, and other such inconvenient spots.

The above governing system of the most powerful things in the world has caused major problems in the past, because Most Powerful ≠ Most Good and Righteous. As such, a lot of people inherently oppose this system and therefore Blaze. Blaze herself wouldn't be in favour of it if she weren't the current chosen one, and is very cagey about the will and testament she has left, which might detail how she'd like to change it, but currently she sees it as her duty.

It's as culturally diverse as mobius, but the vast majority live between the equivalent tropics. Like Mobius, there isn't much of a religious culture exactly, but Blaze has some responsibilities of a pope. She has far more responsibilities than a person could reasonably do, but mostly she goes out and fights stuff; it is expected that the guardian is a fighter first, and only un-delegates the other stuff when they are old or there's nothing going on. She does however have to spend a lot of her free time catching up on missed letters etc.

Common Mobian culture where Sonic is has women wearing clothes mostly, but men not. In the Sol dimension, it's really uncommon to be unclothed, because of the damage it does to your skin and fur. This is also entrenched in culture - it's seen as reckless.

Their food is quite savoury and earthy - even their desserts are more bready and creamy than sweet. They do have sweet things naturally occurring, but they just aren't really given to adults.

At one point I had different dynasties plotted out for the Sol kingdom succession, but thats a big topic nobody needs right now. Perhaps another day.

gonna drop a silly little happy auau idea i had since its prob gonna be a while until i feel pog enough to actually draw it- ujhhhhh ok so like, metal is an active threat in Happy Auau, swearing vengeance on Sonic and Co (Shadow, Silver, Tails, and ghost Knuckles) after they whooped his ass back to mobius (he has completely dominated the Sol until they arrived, also omg hi blaze!!) So obv Metal is a lil pissy about having all his work ripped out from under him by his horrible flesh counterpart, after he HAD ALREADY WON. So hes trying to fucking kill the shit out of them, for real this time. Hes causing so much terror that sonics the one to put forward the notion that they need to shut him down for good, which is how u know its serious sdbhfhjds. its been a long time since sonics had a real rival challenge him like metal, and part of him wants to keep the adrenaline and fight- but as a wise(r) old man he knows that metal is too much of a greater danger to a kingdom hes trying to protect. Metals also REALLY been getting on his fucking nerves. lmao the gang are collectively trying to come up with a way to shut him down for good, a way theyre positive they cant come back from, but mfer keeps escaping containment, so thats a whole other problem anyway, shadow has (in his opinion) a brilliant idea and he doesnt tell anyone BSHFHBD. so he takes the 7 chaos emeralds and inbeds them into sonics crown, and puts it on him in the middle of the night hes trying to mind control sonic BHJSABHJDSBHJDHBJ and it works!!! next morning sonics head is fucking EMPTY

so shadow, in typical fashion decides to see how far he can take this! bc he is a strange strange man. i think it turns into real comedic shit like shadow has him put on like. the MOST emo thing hes got in his closet. makes him say no to being offered a chili dog, makes him tell tails hes Cringe!!!! the funniest one to me is shadow using this to make sonic fawn over him bc shadow can never get enough ego boosting!! i wanna have sonic break the mind control over the actual DUMBEST reason, smth rlly goofy like shadow tells him to call him "the coolest" either way after it breaks uhhh shadow gets fucking werehog punched thru a wall!!!! sonics fucking SEETHING. like steam is coming outta the mans ears. shadow is COMPLETELY unfazed and ive been rotating dialogue in my brain along the lines of 'took you long enough' or 'its about time' they start an actual fight (its mostly just shadow gracefully and nonchalantly dodging whatever attacks sonic sends his way) and sonic is chewing him out for Whatever The Fuck that was. So I recently watched The Marvels and (spoilers ahead) I can't stop thinking about what would happen if in an AU Loki and Mobius went to the water planet Aladna? 🤣 

Like omg, srsly... what if in this AU, Loki figures out a way to fix the Loom in Episode 6 and the timelines are restored once more. Loki and Mobius get to spend some quality time with each other cause they have 'all the time in the world'! <3

And one of the places they visit during their travels is a planet called Aladna (water planet and singing planet), lol and it turns out Loki is seen as a deity there, lol and he is... married?

Mobius is clearly jealous of this, even though Loki and Mobius haven't really become 'a couple' yet despite all the major crises they went through and managed to avoid.

So hearing Loki start singing in perfect chorus, dressed up in his beautiful Asgardian/Aladna-esque style suit outfit and then dancing with a strange Prince ('Silly little man...' Mobius whispers irritably under his breath as he watches his Loki dance with the Prince of Aladna) causes a major fight between Loki and Mobius later on after the formalities are done.

Loki was trying to show Mobius around this beautiful planet, oblivious to the notion that his 'marriage of convenience' would somehow bother Mobius (cause when he first mentioned it, Mobius said he 'didn't mind it at all'). But now he knows Mobius clearly was bothered by it and tries to show Mobius who he really cares about.

Meanwhile, Prince Yan notices the schisms he had unintentionally created between Loki and Mobius. And he tries to make the matter better in his own way by making their stay in his kingdom the best thing possible...

So on day 2, Loki surprises Mobius with a jetski. And they go around the planet riding the jetski and making Mobius's dreams come true <3 And they finally have the chance to tell each other how much they love one another!
