A sunny Tuesday in March finds St. Paul & Pacific 1500 contending with motorists on Walker Street in Watsonville while engineer Kevin Hill keeps a light hand on the throttle of the GP15-1. A lone centerbeam released from Big Creek Lumber heads to the Union Pacific yard at Watsonville Junction. Impaled by steel for decades, Walker Street hosted stubby spurs that fanned out from the main line to various packing sheds and canneries on either side of the roadway. Thousands of carloads of perishables were shipped annually from the Watsonville area as Southern Pacific reaped the benefits of its proximity to the fertile Pajaro and Salinas Valleys. Improved trucking practices sliced into SP's agricultural base beginning in the 1960s and the railroad never fully recovered. Now all that can be seen in the pavement on Walker Street are scars from the past.

I've noticed those issues for years my Love/s.
I'm not saying that Hitler was good, but his was targeted genocide. Of nine million Jews.
And ABSOLUTELY heartbreakingly tragic. Still makes my soul ache & shiver at the absolute unnecessary evil of it all.
Wereas Mao[~30], Lenin [~30], Stalin [~56], etc killed indiscriminately. I think all totalled was something like 100 million combined??? Can't remember my dang numbers! Sorry.
Where is the horror & drive to restore the cultures they destroyed...it isn't talked about!!!
But that is still talked about & going on today against the Holocaust...
All those destroyed cultures matter! Not just Europe as been decimated by genocidal mad men! It's still happening, across the globe!!!
Lest we forget, human trafficking.
Shuddering.
There's something like 4 million pieces of art of the 10 million stolen from the Polish culture that the Monument Men & other such organizations are searching & finding across Europe.
[I read, watch discovery channel & disseminate information the best I can with looking on my s8+ phone. I like 'Mysteries of the Abandoned,' Josh Gates, & the like. I used to watch Scott Wolter's show & others such as that but they aren't "entertaining" enough for the masses. 🙄🤨🤦♀️🤷♀️]
I wish that Hollywood would care about such things as finding history fascinating & stop remaking everything before the 1990s. Like they no longer have any imagination left so they are reinventing the wheel.
Also is distressing as most technology has grown from Hollywood. Cell phones= tricorders. Internet=military intranet.
Gene Roddenberry did more for advancing humanity than anyone since him!!! His last show was "Andromeda" with Kevin Sorbo. I love that show!!! But Hollywood hates him. Sigh.
