19. kisses meant to distract the other person from whatever they were intently doing

It had been a long journey since they originally left the city. So much had happened in between then and now. But Keith had been excited to get back to Kima, and more importantly, see Rak'ass again. He had so much planned for the time the group had decided on staying, and he had written to Rak beforehand so the man was prepared.

Though once they had gotten back to the hunter's guild, Rak and his team had just gotten back from a mission. They looked worn out and tired, but Rak still greeted Keith with some enthusiasm, obviously excited to see his boyfriend. Keith smiled and hugged the other man, giving a kiss to his cheek. “Rak! I missed you so much!” He said, his arms still lightly wrapped around Rak's shoulders.

Rak chuckled, his hands resting on Keith's hips, “I missed you too, Keith… you look well.”

“I am.. you look… tired.” Keith gave him a small smile, his fingers idly touching one of Rak's braids.

Rak just nodded, “I am very tired… I'm sorry, I know you had things planned for us today and I--”

Keith immediately perked up and smiled brightly at the other, “Don't worry about it Rak! You should rest up, we can start everything tomorrow.” Rak seemed to relax at that, and honestly it was dumb for him to be worried in the first place. Keith was very understanding.

The bard kissed his boyfriend’s cheek once again before letting him go, “I'll see you tomorrow, rest well.” Rak nodded and followed the rest of his team inside, who had previously been busy talking with Keith’s party.

So starting tomorrow actually meant, starting after Rak hit a training dummy multiple times. Keith wasn't complaining, no, he was enjoying watching his shirtless boyfriend swing a sword at things, who wouldn't enjoy that? But when it had been going on for hours, with no clear breaks in sight, it had gotten a bit worrying.

Keith shifted on the spot he was sitting, on the ground, before leaning forward a bit, “Uh.. Rak? Don't you think it's time for a break? We could go get lunch like we planned?”

Rak just nodded but didn't stop, “Just a few more sets…” Which was what he had stated the last couple times Keith had asked about stopping.

Seraphina had told Keith earlier that this would happen. It sometimes happened after a mission if something slipped and Rak felt as though he needed to get stronger because of it. The slip this time, was Seraphina almost getting trampled by a horse because Rak's attack swung a bit too wide at a beast and almost hit the horse instead, sending it charging. Keith gathered this training now was Rak trying to practice control on his sword.

Either way, it had been hours and Keith could tell Rak needed a break. But that damn half-orc stubbornness was getting the best of him. Lucky for them, Keith had that same stubbornness, but his was directed at getting his boyfriend to calm down.

Keith got up, waiting a bit for the cooldown moment that happened before Rak started another set. With speed that most people wouldn't expect from a man of Keith's size, Keith moved himself in between Rak and the training dummy, his hands grasping the sides of Rak's face and pulling the other into a kiss.

The sound of Rak's sword hitting the ground was loud but neither of them paid any mind to it. Keith felt Rak kiss him back, a pair of arms wrapping around his waist. He smiled into the kiss, keeping the pace until finally they pulled away to breath. They kept their faces close and could feel the other’s breath on their skin, both wearing matching soft smiles.

“Alright, okay… a break..” Rak spoke, his words coming out breathless as he opened his eyes to stare at Keith.

Keith just smiled brightly, “Good.”

Rak snorted and rolled his eyes before leaning in to kiss Keith again, almost pressing the other against the training dummy. He pulled back, releasing his grip on Keith’s waist but taking his hand in exchange and picking up the fallen sword with the other. Together they headed back to the guild, planning to wash up and finally start on those date plans they had.
