How the Hitman Stole Christmas by Katie Reus
Holiday with a Hitman #1
Over the top but fun with a dash of steamy romance that was a romp and a half in spite of being a stalker-ish, killer-y, hitman love story.
What I liked:
* I am sitting here smiling after finishing the book
* Elliana: grumpy, anti-Christmas, ex-Marine, wealthy, explosives expert in the security business who keeps a CLOSE EYE on her neighbor using drone and binoculars
* Theo: upbeat hitman, in a family of hitters, ex-navy, knows that Elliana is the perfect woman for him, protective, lethal, a bit of an exhibitionist
* The chemistry and dynamics between Theo and Elliana
* Theo’s family and how close they are while also being willing to welcome Elliana
* That the man who put the hit out on Elliana was rather easily found, as were the people he employed, and all were dealt with
* That there was murder but nothing graphic
* That it was a fun way to escape for awhile
* That it was quick and complete in the pages with the possibility of more in the series at some point in the future
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Wondering if a person would REALLY put a hit out on someone like Elliana for the reason the person did in this story
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes

I recently read a lot of silly fantasy/ romcom books so here are a couple I have enjoyed quite a bit:
- Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross (Werewolf x Witch, not a literary masterpiece but it was fun to read! also part 1 of a larger series but with different protagonists, also contains smut)
- Masters of Death by Olivia Blake (immortal creatures gambling against each other, it’s set in modern times, writing style gives me slight Neil Gaiman vibes, romance/ flirting involved but not the main theme, lots of twists & turns & a murder mystery too)
- and also read the mead mishaps series by Kimberly Lemming (black protagonists, contains smut, the storyline itself is a bit flat, but her writing style is super funny, most of books are quite short 200-300pages, read them just for funnsies to get my mind off the horrors)
