So, sometimes this Sonic AU idea pops on my head, appearing all of a sudden and disappearing just as fast.

The idea is pretty simple, pretty sure it's not even the first one, but I wanted to get this off my head.

The idea is basically to remake the old Sonic manga as a Shonen series, trying to adapt the Sonic cast to a teenager superhero series, with Sonic being the protagonist and having to balance between his superhero and civilian lives.

Basically Sonic, but Spiderman/Danny Phantom/Kamen Rider Fourze.

I don't know why my brain keeps going to this idea, but I made a giant wall of text about it, so I wanted to know if anyone would want to see that thing. Maybe I could even try and draw this idea.

But then again, I'm not that famous, so I doubt that prople would even find this. Oh well, I guess I can have hope.

Hello!! I followed you for your absolutely amazing Twisted Wonderland comics (thank you for making them, by the way-) but I saw you posting about something called Ride Kamens? Ride Kamens is still doing prerelease marketing and isn't out yet; it's set for "early summer 2024", so a bit yet to go! similar to Twst, it's a mobile game about anime boys loosely based on an existing franchise (Kamen Rider), although it seems like it's going to be more standalone/won't require familiarity with Rider going in.

the (very) basic premise is that your player character has just taken over their late father's role as a secret agent, supporting the city's superheroes by running a secret base disguised as a cafe (plus you have a personal butler for some reason) (the reason is because it's amazing). you also have to help the heroes regain their lost memories, and it looks like it'll have a bit of a route/choice aspect there (not romance, just different endings to the character episodes depending on what you do). the details are kinda hard to tell at this point but the characters seem like a really fun bunch; there's definitely big "idiots with emotional problems" energy which I am extremely into.

all the official info is in Japanese only at the moment, but here's the website and the ride_kamens twitter! (though the twitter is sort of overtaken by posts about the AnimeJapan exhibit right now, whoops.) and I believe some people are already planning on doing translations for it too? lots to look forward to! :D

my watch group has gotten behind (alas, scheduling tomfoolery), but I'm hoping to catch up on it soon! :D what I've seen has been fast-paced but really cute; the lighter tone and premise are a nice breather after the last few series, and the Chemy are just adorable. I want my own Hopper1!

Shinji, the Idea vs. Shinji, the Man

Everyone knows Shinji is cool as fuck (horrible opening). but who knows what he's thinking? Who knows why he fights the riders? (because he's in a death game?) And why do we think of him as fondly as we think of the mythical (nonexistent?) Dr Pepper? (???) Perchance. (You can't just say perchance.)

I believe it was Kant who said "Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play." Shinji exhibits experience by fighting mirror spideys (stop.) all day, but he exhibits theory by stating "eeeehh?!" Keep it up, baby! (?????)

When Shinji leaves his place of safety to kill a spidey, he knows that he may Die. And yet, for a man who can fight with cards, a life becomes a mere transaction. (OK?) A tax that can be paid to continue using a contract monster, much as Shiro feels any law with a fine is a price. We think of Shinji as a hero, but he is simply a one percenter (why are we saying this.) of a more privileged rider variety. The lifekind (Who). Perchance.

Could be cool to have boots that incorporate some kind of metal or stone that sparks when experiencing abrasion so that when a character slides their shoes against the floor in a certain way they can cast a shower of sparks.
