Description de toilettes (Bibliothèque Forney):

Toilette de promenade. En taffetas glacé gris de lin et crêpe de Chine pareil. Jupe de dessous en taffetas garnie de trois volants plissés découpés en feuilles de rose. Le corsage, fait en forme de polonaise, est froncé devant, à l'encolure et à la taille où le retient une ceinture de ruban. La polonaise, fermée devant, est drapée jusqu'à la taille de façon à dégager la hanche, pour former un triple pouf derrière. Le corsage et la polonaise sont faits en crêpe de Chine, sans aucune garniture.

Robe en gaze-crépon crème et foulard broché Pompadour sur fond crème. Le devant de jupe, en gaze, disposé en deux bouillonnés-sacs, se termine en dents carrées retombant sur un large volant plissé. Redingote en foulard broché, tout à fait ouverte devant, retenue à la taille par une ceinture de ruban fixée par une boucle de métal (vieil argent). Les pans de cette ceinture se terminent par des ferrets en vieil argent. Le devant du corsage est rempli par un plastron froncé fait en gaze. Manches demi-longues. Gants très longs. Chapeau en dentelle crème doublé de rose.

Walking ensemble. In gray glazed linen taffeta and similar crepe de chine. Underskirt in taffeta trimmed with three pleated flounces cut out of rose leaves. The bodice, made in the form of a polonaise, is gathered in front, at the neckline and at the waist where it is held by a ribbon belt. The polonaise, closed in front, is draped up to the waist so as to release the hip, to form a triple pouf behind. The bodice and the polonaise are made of crepe de chine, without any trimmings.

Cream gauze-crepon dress and brocaded Pompadour foulard on a cream background. The front of the skirt, in gauze, arranged in two bubbled bags, ends in square teeth falling on a large pleated flounce. Brocaded foulard frock coat, completely open in front, held at the waist by a ribbon belt fastened by a metal buckle (old silver). The sides of this belt end with old silver studs. The front of the bodice is filled with a gathered plastron made of gauze. Half-length sleeves. Very long gloves. Cream lace hat lined with rose.

Habitat- Northern Argentina; Bolivia; Southern Brazil; Paraguay

Size (Weight/Length)- 58 kg; 3 m

Diet- Fish; Crustaceans; Snails; Mollusks; Mammals; Birds

Cool Facts- Nicknamed the piranha caiman, the yacare caiman sports an impressive 74 teeth. These caiman live in slow moving rivers and wetlands with plentiful vegetation along the banks. While yacare caiman prefer cracking open snails, large males are capable of taking down prey as large as capybaras. Most Alligatoridae have a large amount of parental care towards their offspring, yet yacare caiman moms ditch the nest as soon as her babies hatch. In the 1980’s, it was believed these caiman were on track for extinction due to overhunting for their skin. Luckily, in 1992 a ban was placed on trading crocodilian skins and over 10 million individuals survive in the wild today.

Robe de foulard blanc uni. Le bas de la robe est découpé en dents pointues qui sont bordées avec un étroit ruban de velours hoir, lequel se continue sur la robe de façon à former un treillage en losanges; au centre de chaque losange se trouve un bouton en velours noir. Paletot pareil à la robe, garni comme celle-ci sur son bord inférieur, sur 1 entournure, sur l'extrémité de la manche et sur les devants du paletot; l'encolure est bordée avec un ruban de velours noir, noué par derrière, de façon à former deux longues bouclettes et deux pans très-longs. Chapeau Lamballe, en tulle rose, de chez Mme Aubert, rue Neuve-des-Mathurins, n° 6; le contour du chapeau est bordé avec des festons de perles blanches; brides roses en taffetas; très-larges brides en tulle rose.

Jupe en taffetas vert coupée à pointes, sans aucune garniture; corsage montant, formant un péplum coupé en pointe, comme les robes princesse; ce corsage est carré par devant et dépasse de beaucoup la ceinture; il forme ensuite des pointés aiguës, plus longues sur les côtés et par derrière que devant. Ce péplum est garni avec des galons de soie noire, disposés en brandebourgs sur le corsage, en deux lignes parallèles sur les contours; entre ces lignes, des étoiles en jais noir; sur le bord, une étroite frange noire. Chapeau en paille blanche.

The bottom of the dress is cut into pointed teeth which are edged with a narrow ribbon of black velvet, which is continued on the dress so as to form a diamond-shaped trellis; in the center of each diamond is a black velvet button. Overcoat similar to the dress, trimmed like this on its lower edge, on the armhole, on the end of the sleeve and on the front of the overcoat; the neckline is edged with a black velvet ribbon, tied behind, so as to form two long loops and two very long tails. Lamballe hat, in pink tulle, from Madame Aubert, rue Neuve-des-Mathurins, No. 6; the outline of the hat is edged with scallops of white pearls; pink taffeta straps; very wide straps in pink tulle.

Green taffeta skirt cut in points, without any trim; high bodice, forming a point cut peplum, like princess dresses; this bodice is square in front and extends well beyond the belt; it then forms sharp points, longer on the sides and behind than in front. This peplum is trimmed with black silk braid, arranged in frogs on the bodice, in two parallel lines on the contours; between these lines, jet-black stars; on the edge, a narrow black fringe. White straw hat.
