Hi, I’ve really enjoyed lotr as far as I’ve played, and since you seem pretty advanced in it, I was wondering if you know anything about where the Jorthkyn came from lore-wise? I don’t remember anything like them from the books
SO ESSENTIALLY the Jorthkyn and wood trolls are answering expansions to the often mentioned TYPES of troll and giant and ogre. A lot of the enemies and creatures in LOTRO come from like one or two throwaway lines within the books, the giant worms coming immediately to mind. But essentially there is this curious vague reference every now and then to a variety of giant, often evil, secretive elemental peoples who inhabit the wild areas of middle earth. Wood trolls are actively mentioned by treebeard, but ents themselves are ALSO compared to trolls, so theres this unexplored area around this possible race of creatures with stoney skin who all grow to massive heights. The Jorthkyn are an effort to create a more unique culture around that idea, personify and bring more complexity to the idea of ogres and trolls.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the game! :D

Arathorn nodded grimly and gave the grey mare free rein, a silent signal to run. Most of the horses were Ranger trained and they followed the one eyed man easily, cutting time off the Rangers' travel.
"How are you with Dwarves and the Jorthkyn?"
