#OTD in 1919 – Dan Breen and Seán Treacy rescue their comrade Seán Hogan from a Dublin-Cork train at Knocklong, Co Limerick; two policemen guarding him are killed.
In one of the most dramatic events in the Irish War of Independence, a handcuffed young Tipperary volunteer, Seán Hogan, was rescued from a train while sat between four armed members of the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC). Two RIC were killed in the attack and a number of the volunteers wounded. The rescue was undertaken by three of Hogan’s comrades from the Third Tipperary Brigade of the IRA and…

Claire Scanlon There's just too many wonderful moments. It's an impossible question, but my personal relationship to a scene and a moment would have to be Niagara. And the reason why, it had such fun and comedy in the walking down the aisle to the song that was such a moment in the YouTube history of people doing that and the comedy there, but intercutting it with the footage that Randall shot at Niagara Falls with Pam and Jim when they actually got married versus the one where everyone else thought they got married, intercutting that and finding that last shot where Jim is holding Pam and they're looking out over the water and then he turns to the camera... That shot. It was like one of those (UNCLEAR) he knew to do it. You probably felt it. It was such a magical shot. And then getting to show you and John in my edit bay. You guys came in, just like we were talking earlier. Actors would just come in and be like- and you both wanted to see that scene cut. You know, it was your wedding scene. You wanted to see it. Like, show us. And being so nervous for you to see how I did it and then turning around and seeing you guys were both crying.
Jenna I remember that.
Claire Scanlon It was great. And I was like,  and I knew it was that last shot. It was that last moment where he turns to the camera and he's like, I did it. Like in his face. Oh, my God, it's such a great moment. It's perfect.
Angela It was a perfect moment. I mean the appreciation Jenna and I have now, in a I think in a deeper way for all the departments of the show that made it come together. But just really seeing how editors are such beautiful storytellers and you're such a beautiful storyteller. I'm like, teary. Why am I teary?

Joan McCarter at Daily Kos:
After months of House Speaker Mike Johnson dragging his feet, the House finally voted 316 to 94 to advance the foreign aid bills for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Democrats made that happen—again. In fact, Democrats have been responsible for passing every key funding bill during Johnson’s tenure, a fact that continues to enrage the far-right Freedom Caucus. That, in turn, makes Johnson even more reliant on Democrats to keep his gavel.  The importance of this week’s success in the House is hard to overstate. For the first time in decades, the minority party bailed out the speaker in the Rules Committee—the most powerful committee in the House—to advance the aid bills to the floor. In fact, it’s called “The Speaker’s Committee” because it’s the vehicle the speaker uses to send their priorities—which are typically the priorities of the majority party—to the House floor. Three Republican extremists on the Rules Committee, the group former Speaker Kevin McCarthy installed in his negotiations to get the job last year, rebelled, leading all four Democrats on the committee—Reps. Jim McGovern, Mary Gay Scanlon, Joe Neguse, and Teresa Leger Fernández—to do the previously unthinkable and approve the package, sending it to the floor.
Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters that Democrats were united—this time—in helping Johnson. “Once we made that decision, it was clear that we would do what was necessary to make sure that national security legislation was considered by the entire House,” he said. They did just that, ensuring that the legislation moved forward Friday morning with Democrats in the majority—165 Democrats and 151 Republicans in favor. Which means that, at least for the purposes of this critical package, Johnson shared control of the floor with Democrats—a quasi-coalition government, for the time being. That will be cemented Saturday, when the House votes on final passage for the individual components of the package, and Democrats will undoubtedly hold the majority again.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA)'s job has been bailed out by the Democrats, infuriating the House Freedom Caucus nutters.

Here's my poster of my official version of my version for my DisneyElseWorld's Pixar's...
INSIDE OUT 2!
Tumblr media
I saw the new Inside Out 2 trailer, and they made Anxiety, Ennui, Embarrassment, and Envy bad by betraying the old emotions. Lots of crazy stuff is about to happen! We don't know what's going on, lots of details are there too. But what would the ElseWorld version be like?
SO!
For my idea. I have 6 new emotions, the OC emotions like, Courage, Surprise, Pride, Trust, Shame, and Frustration.
MAIN VILLAIN
I am using on of my oc's Ego de Spite, to be the main villain of the au second movie.
OTHER CHARACTERS
Characters like Zee, the assistant of Ego, she runs the business with him but she tries to avoid him to help others. Bud, Courage's blood cell buddy, he doesn't speak but he's sweet, nervous, cute and got some attitude. And Brain, the big boss of Riley's mind, and the emotions need his help to stop Ego. And Mother Esteem, sweet old mind lady but very big (Disclaimer: Not in the poster).
Returning Cast like...
Amy Poehler as Joy, Bill Hader as Fear (YES! I'm bringing Bill Hader back! He's so much funnier then I expected), Lewis Black as Anger, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Kensington Tallman as Riley, Diane Lane as Mrs. Andersen, and Kyle MacLachlan as Mr. Andersen.
Recast Alert!
I actually like Liza Lapira playing Disgust. After what Mindy Kaling did in Velma, it wasn't enough for me. Because the show and her are piles of shit to me.
With All-Star Cast like...
Chris Pratt (The LEGO Movie 2) as the new outside leader emotion Courage, Sam Richardson (Hocus Pocus 2) as Surprise, Kate McKinnon (Ferdinand & Saturday Night Live) as Frustration,
Andrew Rannells (Trolls Band Together) as Trust, Randall Park (Ant-Man And The Wasp) as Pride, Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh) as Shame, Nicholas Hoult (the X-Men films & Underdogs) as the villainous and hilarious, Ego de Spite,
Aubrey Plaza (Monsters At Work) as Ego's sarcastic female assistant, Zee, Michael Cera (Barbie & Superbad) as Ego's nerd assistant, Yes Man, Peter Sohn (Ratatouille & Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse) as The emotions new blood cell buddy, Bud, Wanda Sykes (the Ice Age films) as Mother Esteem,
with David Wain (The Bob's Burgers Movie) as Chairman the Mind Councilman, Yvette Nicole Brown (Drake & Josh) as Riley's middle school P.E. coach, Ms. Roberts, Brady Noon (TMNT: Mutant Mayhem) as Jordan, Jack Bright (The Good Dinosaur) as Riley's bully, Francis, & Alfred Molina (Monsters University, Gravity Falls & the Spider-Man films) as the smart, wise cracking, and big-headed mind boss himself, Brain.

The Hornet's Sting: "Hornet, Save Thyself"
"HORNET, SAVE THYSELF" AIRED: MARCH 3, 1967
Britt is accused of murder after he kills a former employee in a room full of witnesses.  Now, he must break ranks with Scanlon and go rogue as the Hornet in order to prove his innocence.    John and Jim use this episode as an example of a point they've been making since the very beginning of the podcast, the missed potential in only making these episodes thirty minutes in length.  Despite this, one of the two ranks this episode as one of the best in the series, plus Jim does a wicked impression of Roger Corby from Star Trek.
The Green Hornet: A History of Radio, Motion Pictures, Comics and Television by Martin Grams and Terry Salomonson is a reference work we're consulting as we move through the series.  Pick up your copy by clicking on the link and getting it today.
Take a listen and then let us know what you think of the episode by writing us here or at [email protected].
Check out this episode!

The Mystery of the Missing 1986 Masters Putter
Jack Nicklaus: Unlocking the Mystery of his Missing 1986 Masters Putter Jack Nicklaus’ famous MacGregor Response ZT 615 putter – the one he held high in the air wearing his bright yellow shirt after sinking the long, slightly wiggling, iconic putt for birdie on the 17th green at Augusta National in 1986 – had been missing for 10 years or more. Now he knows where it is – but he’s still seeking its return. How the putter got there is a story of twists and turns – and now the MI Golf Journal is the first media to share Jack’s perspective on it, which he voiced at a sponsor’s event at the recent Ally Challenge in Grand Blanc. The situation troubles him because Nicklaus said it’s the one and only golf club he doesn’t have out of all 18 majors he won: six Masters, five PGA Championships, four U.S. Opens, three Opens. The only club. “I don’t know if people have noticed in the paper, but here in the past week that Irsay (owner of the Indianapolis Colts) bought my putter from the ’86 Masters,” Nicklaus said. “It’s kind of a funny story. I was playing tennis for about 10 days with Ivan Lendl, Tony Roche, and Billy Scanlon. They came to my house; they wanted to get ready for grass court tennis … so Ivan and I would play Billy and Tony, and we won a few sets too. “Anyway, we’d play tennis in the morning and play golf in the afternoon. And Billy was putting terribly. I said, ‘Billy, try this; just use it while you’re here.’ “But he never gave it back. It was the putter I won the ’86 Masters with. I didn’t know about it, I didn’t know where it was. Finally, Ivan told me, ‘Jack I know where it is. It’s in Billy’s rec room in a trophy case.’” By now, the small gathering of Ally guests were laughing, but some a bit nervously. The topic came up because event moderator Chantel McCabe – the only other media in the room – had previously asked Jack what he might donate to the World Golf Hall of Fame Museum. Jack replied that he would not give anything – “except maybe this” as he tugged on the shirt he was wearing that Saturday at the Ally – which drew many laughs. Nicklaus explained that his method is to retain ownership of special items for the Jack Nicklaus Museum in Columbus but that he does have loan programs with other museums for special exhibits. “Anyway, so, I said, ‘Ivan, I don’t know Billy well enough, but he should give me my putter back,” Nicklaus continued, with no real animosity heard in his voice. “Or if he doesn’t want to he can donate it; it’s fine with me.’ Unfortunately, Billy got cancer and died (fairly suddenly, according to tennis media reports in June 2021). “And now I’m dealing with his wife,” Nicklaus continued, “who wants to put it on eBay as fast as she can. She doesn’t own the blasted putter. It’s my putter. I never gave it to anybody. He just took it.” The eBay statement elicited some laughs and some groans as Nicklaus told the story mostly, but not always, with a slight smile on his face. “So, anyway, I’ve been trying to get the putter back, and she wouldn’t donate it. I tried to get Augusta (National) to buy it,” Nicklaus said. “And Augusta negotiated with her, I don’t know how long; they wanted to buy it because they wanted the putter, and they would take it for 6 months, and then I’d take it to Muirfield (Village) for 6 months. “Augusta said they wouldn’t pay the amount of money she wanted for it. I read in the paper that (Jim Irsay) ended up buying it; she put it on eBay, and he bought it. Now I’ve got to call Irsay, and I know Irsay so I can call him. I’ll call him and figure out some way, and somewhere we’ll end up getting it back. “That’s the only golf club that I don’t have that I won a major championship with. Irons, woods, putters, everything.” Here is hoping for a successful phone call between Columbus and Indianapolis. Read the full article

#FALL FALL FALL FEST FULL#
Our rain date, if needed, is 9/18/22.Īs in 2021, Fall Fest is returning again in 2022 as a full capacity event. We hope you join us for our 37th Annual Fall Fest, held on Saturday, September 17th, 2022, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. There are a limited number of food truck sites remaining. Any applications received will be placed on a wait list. Fall Fest is filled for Craft and Information/Education vendors. I'd be down for a panel discussion of a group of them, or just hearing from some of them, especially, say Scanlon, or some of the important short-term players like Bush or Rodgers.*** Updated 7/12/22. The Hanley podcast has shown how interesting interviews with many of those folks can be. Riley, if he can still sing/play, Julia, Jim Watts, Presley/Barbato, etc.) could be interesting. I suppose I could see a case where having The Hanleys as a house rhythm section, fronted by various singing-songwriting Fallen (e.g. So if the Fest's entertainment could include sets by (say) Imperial Wax, Eleni with NoHe/NoShe (or whoever), whatever live band Bramah is fronting, whatever Brix is doing, and whatever Una is doing, that would be a nice evening of music. In looking at the long roster, there's not a lot of the Fallen (in relative terms) who are still making music, but those who are, tend to be pretty interesting. Which, for example, drives my interest in Imperial Wax. I don't think I'd particularly be thrilled to hear any certain historic Fall line-up play their instrumental hits, but I would be interested in seeing/hearing various members of the family tree doing whatever it is they do now. Those are a combination of things, including lectures (and a lot of folks here get excited about various academic talks on Things Fall), appearances/interviews with various members current and historic, and some live performances, featuring various members of the Tull Family Tree, or groups likely to be liked by Tull fans. I'd do a Fall Fest, if it was curated like one of the Tull Fests. I last saw The Fall at the Prestatyn ATP so I'm definitely clutching at flimsy straws for a live Fall fix but I also think something beyond album reissues, live bootlegs and the many mostly grand books would be justifiable in tribute to the group's incredible body of work.ġ1:31 AM - Feb 25I highly doubt this is an original thought but I also couldn't find a relevant topic to add to. Also it would be inevitably lacklustre and disappointing compared to actually seeing any genuine lineup of The Fall at any point in history but in my mind it's still preferable to almost any other festival 'experience' I can contemplate. I highly doubt the notion would have pleased MES himself. There are a couple of obvious objections to this. SHanley and The Eagle together at last, etc You could nick The Fallen Women's idea and have different guest vocalists across the lineups. You could have different lineups of the group representing different eras interspersed with ex members current projects, and some talks and interviews on the side. Could a promoter skilled at organising and mediating use that as the basis for a Fall Fest? The Oh Brother podcast seems to demonstrate a certain amount of cordiality across ex-members of the group. I highly doubt this is an original thought but I also couldn't find a relevant topic to add to.

This all leads to this beautiful talking head by Jim. Greg shared with us that he assigned the talking head to Danny Chun. It's so lovely. I think we should hear it. "I bought those boat tickets the day I saw that YouTube video. I knew we'd need a backup plan. The boat was actually plan C. The church was plan B. And plan A was marrying her a long, long time ago... Pretty much the day I met her." And Claire Scanlon, our editor, shared that she fought really hard to keep this talking head in. And she's shared maybe if it would have been one of the guys, it might have gotten cut. Because everyone did think the wedding ended on such a high note. But she just loved this talking head, and I think it's so great that it stayed in. I get goose bumps every time. I just absolutely love it. -Angela & Jenna
