Sam’s Instagram Story, August 19th 2022
Tumblr media Tumblr media
EXCLUSIVE: In the wake of Sony minting the start of a cinematic franchise in its big-screen take of the PlayStation game Uncharted, which made close to $402M WW, we hear the movie division of its videogame arm, Sony PlayStation Productions, is developing the feature rendition of Days Gone, which Outlander‘s Sam Heughan is circling and Oscar nominated scribe Sheldon Turner is adapting.
The Bend Studios -reated game, which has sold 9M units, is set in the Pacific Northwest after a devastating global pandemic. The game chronicles former motorcycle club member, Deacon St. John, as he fights to survive against the forces of despair and mutated, predatory humans in his quest to find the long lost, presumed dead, love of his life. Heughan will play Deacon St. John. I hear Turner’s script will be a love ballad to motorcycle movies; the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be, modern-day western.
Jennifer Klein and Turner are producing through their production company, Vendetta Productions. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan are producing for Sony PlayStation Productions.
Turner shared a Golden Globe screenplay win with Jason Reitman and an Adapted Screenplay Oscar nom for Up in the Air. He has a story by on X-Men: First Class, and wrote Doug Liman’s upcoming Everest, which Klein is also producing. Turner just did a rewrite on Liman’s Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor for Prime Video. Paramount Players recently bought the original pitch Man of War from Turner and Klein. Vendetta is repped by Kevin Marks at Gang Tyre Ramer.
Scottish actor Heughan stars as Jamie Fraser on Starz’s Outlander. He is cast in the upcoming Liman Everest movie and Jim Strouse’s It’s All Coming Back to Me. Heughan’s feature credits include the Kate McKinnon-Mila Kunis comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me and Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot. He is repped by UTA.

Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant (2023) Review
Tumblr media
This movie opens with an aerial shot accompanied by the song ‘A Horse with No Name’. The use of that song immediately gains this film extra points. Well played Guy Ritchie!
Plot: Guy Ritchie's The Covenant follows US Army Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Afghan interpreter Ahmed (Dar Salim). After an ambush, Ahmed goes to Herculean lengths to save Kinley's life. When Kinley learns that Ahmed and his family were not given safe passage to America as promised, he must repay his debt by returning to the war zone to retrieve them before the Taliban hunts them down first.
I really enjoy Guy Ritchie films - especially his geezer-gangster flicks that feature kinetic high-octane action shots, British dark humour and noir-style chutzpah. It’s only certain directors that you watch their films and you immediately recognise its their film without even needing to know beforehand their involvement. Guy Ritchie’s style is signature to his characteristics, and the recent Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre that came out earlier this year exhibited those qualities with a delightful Statham bang in the middle. However in cometh The Covenant - a strong departure from Ritchie’s prior works. Away with the rough East End and grizzly jokes, and instead what we have is a very reserved and straight-faced war thriller.
The Covenant is very much two films meshed into one. The first half is a solid action war film, as we’ve thrown right into the midst of the Afghan war and the US troops taking down Taliban outposts, with amazing sweeping shots of the desert terrains and the tensions that come between the two sides. It was riveting, suspenseful and interesting, and honestly if that was the whole movie it would have been a very satisfying viewing experience. However the last hour is more so a separate recon and rescue mission mostly undertaken by one soldier - another epic film on its own. That second part is really what makes this film stand out from other war movies, as it really reiterates the central theme of a reality check on bond, pledge and commitment. This is accompanied by very focused non-nonsense directing to the stellar screenwriting (minus a couple of awkward exchanges between Gyllenhaal and his wife played by Emily Beecham - their dialogue during their calls felt as if they were written by a computer AI); excellent cinematography; a steady pace that knew when to take things slow and when to amplify the action in accordance with the story beats; spot-on music score by Christopher Benstead which especially in the final 15 minutes really underlined the emotional journey we’ve just been through; and finally some excellent performances.
The two actors that carry this movie are Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim. The bond between them and the emotion they manage to deliver, something simply through their facial expressions without even saying anything, was truly impeccable. This isn’t the kind of film that will be remembered when the Oscars come around, but honestly both deserve some acting nominations. But both are on top-form, with Salim’s portrayal of Ahmed especially managing to captivate the audience with caring for his character’s fate. Very well written and superbly acted. Appearances by Jonny Lee Miller and Antony Starr work well too.
Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant is a very straightforward story of survival in a war landscape, and there is haunting feeling of knowing that elements of this story are true to many people’s reality. I applaud Ritchie for evidently coming out of his comfort zone and delivering such a serious film with such a heavy subject, but also managing to make it so engaging by getting us to care for these characters. This is a well-made movie, a true army flick, made by real men for men! War is never good, but friendship and valour are always worth of admire.
Overall score: 7/10

most movie scenes of all time (1/?) ↪ nose-breaking kiss scene from BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
“Heath almost broke my nose in a kissing scene. He grabs me and he slams me up against the wall and kisses me. And then I grab him and I slam him up against the wall and I kiss him. And we were doing take after take after take. I got the shit beat out of me. We had other scenes where we fought each other and I wasn't hurting as badly as I did after that one." (2004, JAKE GYLLENHAAL) “Late in the afternoon, thunder growling, that same old green pickup rolled in and he saw Jack get out of the truck, beat-up Resistol tilted back. A hot jolt scalded Ennis and he was out on the landing pulling the door closed behind him. Jack took the stairs two and two. They seized each other by the shoulders, hugged mightily, squeezing the breath out of each other, saying son of a bitch, son of a bitch; then, and as easily as the right key turns the lock tumblers, their mouths came together, and hard, Jack’s big teeth bringing blood, his hat falling to the floor, stubble rasping, wet saliva welling, and the door opening and Alma looking out for a few seconds at Ennis’s straining shoulders and shutting the door again and still they clinched, pressing chest and groin and thigh and leg together, treading on each other’s toes until they pulled apart to breathe and Ennis, not big on endearments, said what he said to his horses and daughters, 'Little darlin.’” (1997, ANNIE PROULX) ENNIS: Jack fuckin' Twist! JACK: Son of a bitch. (2005, LARRY MCMURTRY AND DIANA OSSANA)

C-cowboy starker? What if cowboy starker, I mean? I think... cattle driver Tony maybe, and ranch hand Peter,,, always wanted to write about this but I’m shy 🙈
mid-writing edit: i’ve spent half an hour on this and my computer is literally lagging with how fast i’m typing. i really hope this makes sense because holy shit, i love cowboy starker. anon, i need you in my inbox every single fucking time you have an idea about starker. idk if it’s in passing, idk if it’s super fleeting and doesn’t make sense. anon, you are my muse
ohhhhh my god anon i ,, love this idea so much i’ve actually thought about this a bit ngl you don’t even know how much i like western aus
okay so hear me out:
i’m thinking brokeback type shit, right?? but just a tad different like be honest who doesn’t like the whole bbm trope yfm and twink jake gyllenhaal is my baby okay okay okay sorry babe i’m still crossfaded as fuck and i could talk about that movie for days anyway back on topic
- no okay but think of it - tony, he’s recently divorced and morgan, his baby girl, his one and only daughter, she’s 19 now and seeing this absolute gentleman of a roughneck. his house is empty, he isn’t paying child support anymore, he doesn’t have this bitchy redhead on his ass 24/7 about getting a job in the city
- because tony hates the city, hates that his father dragged them away from the mountains and prairies he remembers from his childhood. hates what the city gave him - black eyes and mean names and disappointed parents
- so tony high tailed it the fuck out of dodge the second he turned 18. abandoned school, abandoned his family, took his beat up ford out to montana and disappeared. married this nice girl, virginia pepper, worked construction to support her while she went to school. had a pretty baby girl a year or two later. moved both of his girls out to a ranch he bought with their tiny savings, got a couple’a cows and a horse and made friends with a neighbor with a bull
- but eventually, pep had bigger dreams. they were both young when they got married, didn’t look past the immediate sexual compatibility to see that their futures were well and truly not going to go well together
- so she left the ranch, took morgan with, and made her way to the city. became some big lawyer or doctor or businesswoman or something, tony didn’t know. didn’t really care because the child support invoices still came every single month like clockwork.
- so instead of focusing on his distant daughter and his ex wife that wouldn’t listen to him and his family that just... didn’t understand, he threw himself into the wildlife around him
- became closer with those neighbors that had a bull. eventually came to an agreement and let him free with his girls
- built a very solid herd of highlanders in a handful of years, slowly attracting the attention of more and more owners wanting to trade, to buy, to sell
- and maybe one year, he realizes, he’s in a bit too far over his head with this. he has 100 of these four legged fuckers, he has 50 acres to take care of by himself, he has horses to feed and shoe and groom. he has fields to plant and water and harvest if he wants to feed any of the animals mentioned above
- so he reaches out to his neighbors, puts feelers out and sees if anyone knows a farmhand who’d want to help him out, maybe live on the property full time for a bit. and when he gets a call back his heart breaks a bit, because oh my god he wasn’t prepared for this
- a kid, can’t have been more than morgan’s age, has responded to him, and he’s good with his hands mr. stark, and he knows his way around animals mr. stark, been takin’ care of ‘em for his whole life now mr. stark
- and this kid is ,, he sounds so innocent and sweet there’s no way tony’s gonna say yes before he actually meets him
- so tony gives the kid his address, tells him to come out and give things a once over before he makes his mind up
- so peter does. he comes out, introduces himself, looks around the property with tony. and tonys heart hurts, because this kid, this kid that’s standing right in front of him, is almost skin and bones and looks like he’s about to crumble into dust and blow away in his hands
- he brings peter into the house, brings him coffee, offers him food. even after peter politely declines he brings over some bread to share, maybe a slice of pie?? maybe tony can cook and bake. he has a sweet tooth after all, and he’s been on his own for the better part of two decades.
- and he really gets to know peter. they sit, they talk, until the sun dips down and the open mountain chill takes over them
- and peter tells him that he’s been on his own for a couple of years, that his parents died when he was young and that his aunt and uncle took him in on their ranch. that he grew up around animals, working, helping out
- but when they died the property was repossessed by the bank and peter’d all but ran with ben’s keys and the clothes on his back. he’s been on the road ever since, going from missouri to texas to wyoming to montana, all in search of work, never staying in one place longer than a few months.
- he doesn’t tell tony that he’s secretly so, so tired of life on the road. doesn’t say how elated he was when he heard someone was looking for a fairly long-term live in farm hand. because that’s something he knew, something he was good at.
- he also doesn’t tell tony that his heart skipped several beats in a row the second peter laid eyes on him, and that he really wants to work for the gorgeous man in front of him
- it’s finally dark, his coffee cup is long empty and abandoned and peter’s just spilled nearly every single deep dark secret he’s ever had. tony’s closing the windows, and peter makes for the door. he’s taken up enough of this beautiful kind man’s time, he should leave before he stays even further past his welcome
- but tony’s stopping him, blocking him from the door, lightly grabbing his wrist and turning peter to face him fully
- and he’s asking begging pleading  telling peter he should stay, that the spare room upstairs is warm and not going to be used anytime soon. that he still needs a farmhand and, as he sees it, peter’s already here
- secretly, tony can’t stand to see him leave
- he couldn’t handle letting his man this... kid, really, leave. not when tony could provide for him. not when he could feed him until his edges soften and his cheeks round out and his tummy gets squishy. not when he could work him into a sweat outside, watch that paperwhite skin turn a rich tan under the summer sun
- not even when he realizes the sudden care for the orphan in front of him is slowly becoming less familial, less platonic, and more... instinctual. base. greedy.
- because who better to make sure this kid is looked after than tony? tony, who has work-worn hands and time-softened eyes and cooking skills any bachelor would die for
- it’s honestly not even that shocking to him when peter says yes
- not when he takes his hand off the doorknob and immediately turns, immediately breathes out a “yes, yes of course mr. stark, thank you so much mr. stark, i’ll do whatever you need me to, you’re incredible mr. stark”
- and it all immediately goes to tony’s dick head because fuck, that was not the intended reaction but it was absolutely welcome, what the fuck
- so tony takes him upstairs, gets peter settled in the guest bedroom right across from his own
- and when he goes to bed that night he absolutely does not touch himself while thinking about the barely 20something thats maybe 10 feet away. doesn’t think about what peter said earlier, with tony’s hand wrapped around his wrist
- absolutely doesn’t cum with peter’s name on his lips, biting down on his knuckles so peter doesn’t hear
- and peter absolutely doesn’t cum with three fingers in his ass, tears streaming down his face, listening to the creaking mattress springs and heavy breathing from across the hall. of course he doesn’t
- and of course they don’t get along well. of course not. of course they don’t work together like they’re telepathically connected, not even needing to speak to know what the other is thinking. it’s like peter can read his mind, knowing exactly what needs done when
- but it’s not just tony. peter can tell before anyone else when the farrier needs to be called. when one of the girls is pregnant, even before she starts showing. knows when one of the cattle dogs has a hurt paw without even seeing him. can tell when it’s going to rain, so he knows whether or not it’ll be a good day to cut the alfalfa fields
- it’s a little freaky to be honest but tony doesn’t hate it. it’s really useful with everything on the farm, and it’s... it’s nice. having someone that can so effortlessly understand him.
- it’s also like peters... totally unaware of it. like he doesn’t even know he knows things he shouldnt know. which blows tony’s mind even more.
- it kinda turns him on, and he finds himself with his hand around his cock wondering if peter knows he’s getting off thinking about him. like, more than once. maybe even more than once a week. definitely more than once a week.
- and maybe peters kind of catching on, a little. that maybe his feelings toward his employer/landlord/new friend are shared
- it also doesn’t help that he gets uncontrollably aroused every time tony goes to bed. like. every... single... time...
- peter always knew he was.. attentive. but he didn’t know it would manifest as literally feeling tony’s arousal through the fucking walls
- and it doesn’t help that peter’s filling out. he’s getting darker as the months get warmer, he’s getting significantly more meat on his bones now that he’s eating more and working more
- and it really doesn’t help that tony is getting eyefuls of the half naked ranch hand almost 24/7. it’s really not his fault that peter works better without a shirt on
- and maybe it comes to a head one day. maybe they’re picking up alfalfa bales from one of the fields and they stop to take a break and tony just ,, can’t handle sweaty, tan, barely-a-twink-anymore peter.
- and peter can feel it, with his ,, unique senses, that tony’s watching him. like, a lot. like, way more than normal even
- so he decides to play it up a bit. he takes his shirt off, he throws his gloves in the bed of the truck and balls the tee in his hands, wiping his face off with it and sighing deeply
- and he knows tony saw that because he could fucking hear tony’s breathing change and he smirks a little bit, because that’s enough confirmation for him to know for sure
- so he looks up, and he meets tony’s eyes, and they’re wild and feral and tony looks like one of the wolves that tried to take out one of their cows last winter - hungry and ready to devour what was in front of him
- and peter just looks at him, a little incredulous, and finally speaks up: ‘you gonna get over here ‘n kiss me, or what?’ - and tony fucking breaks
- he turns the truck off and slams the door when he gets out, grabbing peter by the neck and fucking dragging him against tony’s clothed body
- “do you know what you’ve been doing this whole time?”
- of course peter does, tony, you fucking moron. he knows and he’s been trying to get you to rip him to shreds, dumbass. you’re just oblivious
- but tony still can’t help but see the tiny young man that walked up on his doorstep those years ago, can’t help but want to protect him and keep him safe and warm and fed
- so of course tony wanted to go slow, and wanted to be gentle with peter
- but pete was having fucking none of that, because oh my god tony i’m not 19 anymore please just fuck me already and been wanting you for way too long and please tony just--  and he grabs tony’s hand and makes him squeeze even harder
- and it’s hot, and it’s messy, and it’s not even really sex, just them rutting and grabbing and jerking each other off up against the door of tony’s truck, belt buckles undone and jeans just barely tugged down
- and tony’s basking in it, watching peter’s eyes screw shut and his pretty plush lips open and the little ‘aah, nngh fuck, tony’s that push their way from his throat
- and he knows, the second they’re done here, they’re abandoning their work for the day and he’s taking peter back to the house and he’s going to show him what this is like for real, what it means to be touched with intention and love and emotion behind it - not just a quick handjob standing in the hay field
- and he does. he worships peter’s body when they get back to the house
- he kisses every single part of him, nips at the tiny bit of excess fat on his stomach and thighs and hips, relishing in the fact that peter is his, his to take care of, his to keep safe and healthy and happy
- and eventually, the guest room opens up again. peter’s stuff slowly moves into tony’s room. he stops getting paid, but that’s okay
- because why would you get paid to work on your own farm?

full thoughts on the chaos walking movie? I want to hear more about it lol I haven’t seen it yet
it just...it felt like TKONLG but without EVERY GOOD PART, you know?
scene-wise, the closest individual scene we had to anything in the book was maybe the scene where Viola read Todd’s mother’s book to him? (even that wasn’t the same bc that was also the scene where we find out he’s illiterate, and he lets her read it right away, so there was no deep-rooted embarrassment about not being able to read). also it happened in Farbranch. BUT, like it captured the emotion of the OG scene a little, where Viola is reading to Todd and he’s hearing his ma’s words and getting emotional about it.
but all the stand-out scenes from the book, i.e. saying goodbye to Ben and Cillian, meeting the girl and getting hit in the head with a branch and bandaging her anyway, ALL of the Aaron fights, the bridge, the massacre of Farbranch, the song of Here, the Spackle, Todd’s illness, the waterfall scene, Haven, NONE of that was in the movie. so imagine all the really important and powerful moments gone
also all the overarching themes? those are gone too. todd becoming a man is  HUGE deal in the books. even in his horrible awful town he just wants to feel like he BELONGS and he’s the one person in the entire town being ostracized. two of the biggest secrets in Todd’s whole world are kept from him for the majority of the book because he’s “not yet a man”. it’s important to him. and once todd realizes the connection between Prentisstown maturity and murder, he spends the rest of that book WISHING he could be a killer. wishing he could have that kind of strength and seeing himself weak for not being able to kill.
all of that?? gone. movie!Todd often chants the familiar “I am Todd Hewitt” (and sometimes “be a man”) when he’s nervous or trying to cover something in his Noise, and has a little tiff with Ben and Cillian at the beginning of the movie bc the Mayor sees Todd as a man while Ben and Cillian do not. (that’s a weird little bit though bc the movie never really explains why the Mayor had such an interest in Todd). but that’s about it in terms of coming-of-age material in the movie. and about murder. seeing as he doesn’t. kill. the. Spackle. let that sink in.
also like. the Noise is shown as a CONCEPT but not as a theme. the THEME of Noise is that, and I quote
“In this world of information overload, the ability to feel, my boy, is a rare gift indeed.”
or perhaps
“Knowing a man’s thoughts ain’t knowing a man.”
or even
“Knowledge is dangerous and men lie and the world changes, whether I want it to or not.”
in this movie, Noise would be described as like. a nuisance at worst and a superpower at best. you can hear most of every man’s thoughts in the movie, though not a constant, never ending stream. just just bits sporadically at either plot-convenient or comedic times. the Mayor (and at one point Ben, and at one point Todd) uses his Noise to construct illusions around people kind of similar to that Jake Gyllenhaal villain in Spiderman: Far From Home.
but neither of these two main examples really SHOW the themes that Patrick Ness showed us in the books. that Noise is powerfully ANNOYING; that it can quickly break down relationships between groups of people; that it can be manipulated making large lies still possible.
like, remember when in the books, Todd and Viola get to Farbranch and poor Todd is absolutely GOBSMACKED that 1. the women are ALIVE and 2. the men and women are living together?? in harmony?? what the eff?? and you see Hildy in Tam’s Noise and just how much they genuinely love each other and Todd is like “damn we ain’t in Prentisstown anymore Manchee”. and you can just see based on the contrast that Prentisstown people are a whole different breed compared to the kindness of Farbranch?
in the movie Todd has a few moments of inner dialogue where he’s like “oh man that’s a woman. that’s nuts” and then we move on. his world should be turned upside down here and its not. and the difference between the two towns is that they kinda just made it seem like, yeah, Noise is annoying so we have the men sleep separately from the women so we all get a little peace, and it’s fine. that’s how Farbranch deals with it. it all just feels very blasé
(i can’t remember specifically where this happens, probably either in Farbranch or cutting back to the Prentisstown men getting ready to march, but at some point a leader ends up saying something to a crowd of people and you can see how just one sentence spreads through an entire group of men and how they all start amplifying it and getting more and more panicked and i did think the mob mentality was cool. it reminded me of the beginning of The Ask and the Answer were the Mayor is addressing the citizens of Haven and you get that moment where the whole crowd flinches over the words of one man.)
and in all of this I’ve barely mentioned Viola. my wonderful girl. how they’ve massacred her story. god.
all of Viola’s development for the first half of the book is tanked from the start bc you SEE the crash, you see her stealing food from Ben and Cillian’s house (that’s the inciting incident of the movie), she talks to the Mayor in Prentisstown almost immediately after Todd finds her and his Noise helps everyone locate her, she talks to Todd a lot before getting to Farbranch after they escape Prentissown. the book does a LOT of work for Viola by having her mute and scared for the beginning and slowly showing how she comes to trust Todd. and how even after their incessent bickering in Farbranch they still choose to escape together because they know the army is after them specifically and they’re all the other has. that progression is really important in the book, as well as afterwards when we see how snarky Viola can actually be when speaking, how she thinks this entire planet is BACKWARDS and she can’t wait til her ship comes and shows them a thing or two about how to live.
movie Viola, well. she wants to find a way to communicate with her ship. she’s under the impression that since her scout ship crashed they’re gonna assume she’s dead and leave her behind. even though the Mayor brings up the settlers a lot after he learns about them, Viola curiously never really brings them up in any other context besides they need to come and get her. like it really made it sound like she planned on calling them, having them scoop her, and then they’d all just fucking leave, i guess. i don’t know what her end goal was besides CALLING HER PEOPLE which became the main point of the movie. the Mayor trying to find Todd and Viola so he could....use her to contact the ship?? that was also kind of unclear. and Viola trying to get to a communicator possibly so she could get the hell out of dodge. idk if that was her actual plan, but it was certainly what Todd was thinking, enough to where I was wondering if he was going to sabotage her mission in order to force her to stay (yeah. yeah. he had that energy about him and it was grosss)
and quickly, since all the animals couldn’t talk the way they do in the book, Manchee was more of a cute prop than anything. i could have gotten over it if he was useful in any way, but he never even like attacked a dude to save Todd or anything like that. so when he died it was sad on a dog-level but not a character level, since besides sitting next to Viola like twice while she cried he really added nothing to the story. also the shock of animal death was greatly reduced already since Todd’s horse that he used to escape Prentisstown from got a broken leg after he rode him off a cliff, so Todd used the knife (off-screen, thank god) to put him down. so Manchee getting killed was kind of lessened a little since my man Whiskey got nixed like 40 min earlier in the film.
this is getting long so I’ll cut it here since I’m gonna probably post about this a thousand more times. but yeah. if you watched it completely divorced from the books you would probably think “that was a cool concept but also what was the point of any of that” which is basically what most people thought based on the review headlines i’ve read. and if you are an avid book fan you’re gonna think you’re watching something else entirely.

Season 3
Self care:
Not going on a fitness journey -I though that getting slimmer and stronger and all the other things would bring me happiness. But sometimes that is not the case. And what I needed right now was t not be on a fitness journey. To not have a weight goal or any other expectations of my own body
Herbal teas -I love black tea but sometimes all I need is a warm cup of herbal tea to soothe my stomach
Not working -I’ve been going full speed ahead for a very long time and what I truly need
Tumblr media
Blogs and youtube channels:
@lavendersage -Very calming and uplifting content
Linda Sun -Her content about learning to love your own body and intuitive eating are almost soothing to watch. Watching her work out and struggle and be real motivates me in my own life
Eddy Burback -I ran out of Drew’s and Danny’s content and so I found Eddy. Eddy is friend shaped and funny
Crushes of the month:
Ewan McGregor -Sometimes I remember his existence and just.. you know... fall in love a little bit
Cate Blanchett -I watched Carol so I feel like you understand
Jake Gyllenhaal -Honestly I’m not quite sure whether he’s hot or not since he’s a little... crazy but that’s half his charm right?
Tumblr media
Series:
Adventure time -If cartoons are supposed to be for kids, why are they so funny then?
Movies:
Brokeback mountain -I’m a sucker for a good ending. First parts of the movie where quite long and dragged out but the ending really sold it for me
Prisoners -This was an absolute 10/10 experience. I hated and loved every second. Amazing performances, thrilling story
Mad Max -I didn’t like the beginning but again, loved the ending and how the references back to its own story

Not she putting 1989 Wildest Dreams TV in a horse movie where Jake Gyllenhaal is a part of as a Red TV easter egg...
This is my villian origin story
17 notes · View notes
Note
Do you think 1989 is done because she gave Wildest Dreams to the horse movie or was that just a one off thing?
I truthfully have no idea what the status is on 1989 (Taylor's Version) anymore. But I've of course seen the thoughts that putting a song in a Jake Gyllenhaal movie was a RED (Taylor's Version) E*ster E*g.

Dune Part 2: Major Actors They Could Cast in the Sequel
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This article contains Dune mythology spoilers.
After some uncertainty as to whether admired French Canadian director Denis Villeneuve would be able to complete his mission to adapt Dune into more than one movie, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have struck a deal for Dune: Part Two, and there are now three major roles that need to be cast for it: Emperor Shaddam IV, Princess Irulan and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, who will all be key to the next part of the story when it’s released theatrically on October 20, 2023.
Though no casting news has yet been forthcoming, we’ve got a pretty good idea of the kind of actors who could slip into those three roles with ease…
Emperor Shaddam IV
Jake Gyllenhaal
During his relatively short and spectacular career thus far, director Denis Villeneuve has developed a small rotating troupe of actors he likes to work with. One he’s returned to several times is the star of his first Hollywood movie, Prisoners. That 2013 film came out as Jake Gyllenhaal was pivoting away from traditional leading men roles to some of the darkest and most fascinating work of his career, which included that nihilistic noir as well as Gyllenhaal and Villeneuve’s follow-up, the equally bleak Enemy (2013).
Teaming again with Gyllenhaal as the Padishah Emperor of the Imperium and head of House Corrino thus seems apt. Folks tend to forget that the spice melange slows aging and expands a lifespan, which might explain the youthful appearance of Paul’s parents as played by Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson. Gyllenhaal could continue that trend and bring a preening arrogance and sense of entitlement to the most powerful man in the Known Universe. After all, he already embodied peak grievance culture in Enemy and Nightcrawler (2014). Now imagine a whole galaxy having to bend to that neediness! – DC
Michael Stuhlbarg
The soft-spoken Michael Stuhlbarg often opts for troubled or anxious characters who could flip on a dime, and that’s just one of the reasons we think he could be in the running for the plum role of Emperor Shaddam IV in Dune: Part Two. We heard a lot of talk about the dastardly Emperor in the first movie, but one of the major ways that Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation differed from David Lynch’s version of the story was to have the character be spoken about but never seen, leaving the audience to assume he’ll show up with gusto in the sequel as Paul Atreides begins his rise to power.
Like Gyllenhaal, Stuhlbarg has worked with Villeneuve before in 2016’s Arrival and also, crucially, Timothée Chalamet in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name, where the two actors shared an unforgettable scene in a masterpiece of cinema that garnered them a string of awards nominations. Though it seems more likely that Dune: Part Two will cast a more A-List actor as the Emperor, don’t write off Stuhlbarg just yet. He may be the sequel’s dark horse. – KH
Princess Irulan
Elle Fanning
Princess Irulan is a difficult role to cast because she’ll likely have very little screen time but must communicate a lot in it: a regal sense of superiority, an ethereal otherworldliness, but also a cunning, scholarly intellect. There are several leading actresses who could inhabit that but perhaps because of her recent work on Hulu’s The Great, Elle Fanning springs to my mind as among the best choices.
As with her depiction of Catherine the Great, she can bring an internalized intelligence to the screen in short order while certainly also playing a character who expects she’s worthy of ruling the universe. Additionally, should Villeneuve ever be able to direct an adaptation of Dune Messiah, Fanning could quite easily portray the rising sense of anxiety and cracking fragility that will eventually come to the universe’s great historian. – DC
Maya Hawke
Twenty-three-year-old Maya Hawke shows no signs of slowing down, and the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke may well be on a path that sees her achieve roles beyond those that either of her parents have managed to snag over their long decades in the industry. Hawke tends to stand out in whatever film or TV show she shows up in, and although she’s best known to most as the sarcastic, ice cream-slinging Robin Buckley in Netflix’s flagship sci-fi series Stranger Things, the fact that Quentin Tarantino is championing her burgeoning career will likely work in her favor as she begins to strategically select meatier roles.
As Princess Irulan, Hawke would bring a brittle, cunning and thoughtful touch to the woman who may be required to marry Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides as he ascends to power in Dune: Part Two. Should the story continue beyond the upcoming sequel and Paul commits to starting a family with his beloved concubine Chani, Hawke’s increasingly desperate and envious Irulan could also sway the audience to grant some sympathy for the character, despite her twisted deeds later in the Dune series. – KH
Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen
Tom Holland
The hardest of the three major new roles to cast, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is essentially Paul Atreides’ dark doppelgänger; the man he could’ve become if raised under the vile Baron Harkonnen’s tutelage. And given his predilection for indulging in gladiatorial fights where his enslaved foes have been handicapped to lose, one half wishes they could de-age Gladiator’s Joaquin Phoenix for the part.
Alas, that is not to be, and one has to find the anti-Timothée Chalamet for the role. In terms of appearance that wouldn’t seem to immediately suggest Tom Holland. However, the pair have an amusing shared history having gone after the same roles in the past, including Spider-Man, and they’ve both worked opposite Zendaya. Holland would obviously bring in an even larger young fanbase to the sequel, and one can speculate that the actor would enjoy playing a right sneaky bastard after so many years as a happy-go-lucky do-gooder in the public zeitgeist. Portraying a nasty piece of work in a major franchise would be a good way to shake off the pop culture cobwebs for the actor, and give Dune: Part Two an interesting dynamic between two of the more popular leading men under the age of 27. – DC
Fred Hechinger
Many wouldn’t have been able to pick Fred Hechinger out of a line-up before the young actor exploded onto the scene this year. But the combined releases of The Woman in the Window, the Fear Street trilogy and HBO’s The White Lotus have catapulted him into the spotlight, and that’s set to continue in 2022 with the highly anticipated and much-contested Pam & Tommy on Hulu, which charts the relationship between Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) following the release of their infamous sex tape. Hechinger is playing grimy porn king Seth Warshavsky in what’s sure to be a revoltingly memorable role.
Having broken out in Bo Burnham’s acclaimed indie Eighth Grade, Hechinger has an acute softness to him tinged with a certain edge that’s hard to pin down, but that some have described as an “old soul”, and he most reminds us of Michael Pitt in his Funny Games and The Dreamers era. He could be an unexpected but perfect choice for the twisted and arrogant Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two. Plus, he’s really mastered the old “curly fringe in the eyes” look, so he could go toe-to-toe (or hair-to-hair) with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul in the sequel. – KH

I’m sorry, but I can’t get over how funny it is that Wildest Dreams went from having its own romantic, cinematic music video.......to being used in Bridgerton...and then to being used in an animated horse girl movie......STARRING Jake Gyllenhaal AS THE DAD.............IT’S JUST AGFHFHGMGK. THE COMEDY? THE VERSATILITY? Absolutely golden.

Spirit Untamed had some fun things that coincided with Taylor:
Main character, Lucky, catches her mother's scarf floating on the wind and it ends up being her last thing she has from her mom...."and you keep my old scarf"
Also in the same scene and another, Lucky's mom sings a song revolving around the word Fearless.
One of Lucky's friends is a quirky, upbeat girl with a blonde bob who loves to play ukulele and sing while they ride. She is also arguably the most endearing and interesting character in the movie. Sound familiar?
Tumblr media
"leaving like a father": Lucky's dad leaves her life after her mother dies.
"Stepping on the last train"/"u know that my train could take you home": there's a lot of train action, including Lucky's dad coming at the end on a train he built (there was a lot of suspension of disbelief required for this film) to help Lucky.
When you are young they assume you know nothing: Lucky and her friends go on a perilous journey to rescue the wild horses on their own and essentially their parents underestimate them (but also don't let your children try to defeat burly sociopaths strongarming wild mustangs.)
Tumblr media
Linger like a tattoo kiss: Spirit kicks the main goon in the face when he is trying to kidnap the herd. When the main characters encounter the goon again, he has a bruise from the kick and says, "thanks for the tattoo"
Chasing shadows in the grocery line: Lucky is leaving the grocery store when she first sees Spirit in the corral and goes over to meet him
Knew you'd miss me once the thrill expired: is this a spoiler for Spirit 2? Will Spirit show up at Lucky's house and stand in her anachronistic porch light?
Lucky and The Lucky One
Jake Gyllenhaal generally being a sucky human.
Now you know
Tumblr media
Overall I'd say it was a decent children's movie that was enjoyable if you want to escape the house! I had fun and we even got sew on patches free with our ticket but sadly my sister and I got the same design...
Throughout the movie, we kept looking at each other during the movie and mouthing FEARLESS? ... THE SCARF!! ... TRAIN!!! etc 😂 good times. The period/historical element was unexpected but fun!
