It was perfectly quiet in such a spacious room aside from the occasional servant and the hired bartender minding the drinks and cleaning glasses. The only other time Reiju had seen this place put to use was by the boys and mostly Niji when he was on a binge. Something of which Reiju might as well warn Nami of.

“We might be the only ones here right now, but I’d be careful coming here on your own, Niji has a tendency to sniff around this place for a drink or two.” Likely more but her brothers’ personal issues were not hers to disclose to anyone let alone that of a guest Ichiji had brought on board their floating kingdom.

Choosing a seat and gently kicking out Nami’s own, Reiju crosses her legs serenely as it would take mere moments for a servant to come tumbling head over heels to serve the girls.

“So you want to hear a couple anecdotes on my brothers huh? Sure, but it’ll cost you a few stories of your own.” She teased as she raked her mind for something particularly delightful. Her brothers made finding any weaknesses nearly impossible and finding humor about them even more so. And yet still, there were specific incidences that come to mind that she didn’t mind sharing.

“I’ll start with Ichiji, as perfect as he likes to think he is, there was one time before a very important meeting that he’d run late for and no thanks to Niji and Yonji’s hijinks. It was only afterwards that anyone bothered to tell him he had put his pants on backwards and it’d been as close to seeing him go fully red as anyone had ever witnessed.”

i don't think people really understand what's happening in gaza. with each passing day that sees more and more palestinians dead, it's becoming easier and easier for those in the west to perceive them as nothing more than a statistic. they might engage w the occasional palestine post, sure, but it's just as easy to scroll right past that moments later w no real outrage for the genocide retained.

it's vital to stay reminded that palestinians who are with us today won't be with us tomorrow. it's happening every second of every minute of every hour, and it's relentless. somewhere in gaza a little girl is losing her mother, a little boy is watching his siblings bleed to death, elderly people are infirm with starvation and illness, palestinian women and girls are being sexually assaulted and kept in cages, fathers are leaving tents to find food for their families and not coming back. this is all happening right now, and it's a direct result of the west's complacency. it's a direct result of their not seeing arabs as people worth saving.

it might be hard to compute as a westerner, but this is real. don't let your privilege blind you to your humanity.

it drives me bonkers the way people don't know how to read classic books in context anymore. i just read a review of the picture of dorian gray that said "it pains me that the homosexual subtext is just that, a subtext, rather than a fully explored part of the narrative." and now i fully want to put my head through a table. first of all, we are so lucky in the 21st century to have an entire category of books that are able to loudly and lovingly declare their queerness that we've become blind to the idea that queerness can exist in a different language than our contemporary mode of communication. second it IS a fully explored part of the narrative! dorian gray IS a textually queer story, even removed from the context of its writing. it's the story of toxic queer relationships and attraction and dangerous scandals and the intertwining of late 19th century "uranianism" and misogyny. second of all, i'm sorry that oscar wilde didn't include 15k words of graphic gay sex with ao3-style tags in his 1890 novel that was literally used to convict him of indecent behaviour. get well soon, i guess...

my absolute favourite thing about the kirk and spock dynamic is that the whole time you’re watching the show spock is gaslighting you into thinking that kirk is this loose canon and spock is paragon of logic keeping his captain on the straight and narrow when its very clearly the other way round. aside from being turned on by everyone and fighting like an old-timey boxer…. kirk is just like.. quite a logical, stable guy. like yeah he rules with his emotions but he’s rarely reckless or erratic, even in situations of immense pressure he’s always calm and measured. sure kirk is unhinged and insane, but we knew that right off the bat. spock on the other hand tries to hide how insanely balls to the walls crazy he is by standing next to jim and hiding all his derangement with logic. i think the reason bones beefs with spock so much because he is the only one who has noticed that spock is an absolutely unhinged individual. (jim is too busy doodling <3 mr jim spock <3 all over his briefings to notice)
