It's so funny seeing people people joke about reading TLH and found "Where's Percy??? Who's this Jason guy???"

Cause that was not my thought process when started HOO

I went in thinking "Oh! Percy will be a background leader type character like Firestar was! :D" (because, despite people joking about it, Firestar really was just leading his clan after the first arc. He was not getting dragged into prophecies left and right until right before his death)

I was wrong of course- but I was going in use to different protagonists each series. especially in the dynamic Rick wrote HOO in versus how he wrote pjo.

You know what I WAS thinking for a good bit there before it became bluntly obvious he was a son of Jupiter/Roman.

I was considering the theory that Jason was a monster that had his mind wiped for some reason? Like that Couch Hedge was suspicious of him because of that but Jason just didn't know about his background or anything.

I even was like "oh, could he be one of those wind spirit things their fighting???" When he start flying during that fight and all that...

Yeah. That was my thought process. Let me tell you I was not bored with Jason's first few chapters, whether it was because of that or just in general I couldn't tell you.

Anyway. I'll defend my boy to this day.

I love humans and habits

I work at a hospital on a peninsula separated from the city. Most people live on the peninsula and commute to the city, meaning that about 90% of the people commuting at the time I do to the peninsula are hospital people. And every single day we get on the same boat, sit in the same seats, and then get on the buss to the hospital, sitting in the same seat. Today we almost held the bus back because someone weren't in their normal seat and we were worried they'd be stranded

#it was fine #there was a pencilcase on their seat so naturally it was occupied and no one can use that seat moving the pencilcase is unthinkable #basically what im saying is we somehow have assigned seats on our way to our adult jobs as actual real medical personnel #which is WILD but also kinda sweet particularly when next of kin or visitors are on the bus #not space

I worked a new type of freelance job this week! I'm slowly doing more freelance interpreting work than I used to, and one thing that comes up frequently in the freelance world is hospital inpatient shifts. I've never taken them before, because they intimidate the hell out of me, and the concept of interpreting something wrong and fucking up someone's healthcare is terrifying. But I took a few shifts this week and they went so smoothly, and I'm really proud of myself for the doing the hard thing scared 😊

ted lasso season 3 was more muddled than anything. i mean it was less ted focused, which is fine but then there were too many plot lines that didnt get to shine and i feel like the show wanted to do more but was limited with the short run time of the overall season. 

like the payout for a lot of the plots didn’t land and you are left feeling untethered for a lot of the characters where the previous seasons were laying foundation for their arcs. and a lot needed to be shoehorned in at the end to close up some loose ends. and it left some plots and characters just not concluded well because the ensemble wasn’t utilized well. 

i enjoyed the bit about football but the rest is eh for such a show that had so much foundation for more 

#like jamie tartt and his dad which was like a whiff from left field #and nate and ted's reconciliation didn't feel earned #and way too much was spent with rebecca and her ex husband #which was fine but then there is just like a scene with her and bex and then nothing?? #and ted gosh like nothing was done with him and his ex and her new beau??? #like no growth??? #i am just at a loss #like i enjoyed the bit about football but the rest was eh #it was fine #which in this day and age is pretty good i guess #i guess meme #ted lasso

I think the issue with a lot of western horror movies is the monsters usually stop being scary once they become known. Like sure the thing lurking in the dark is spooky when it’s just a glowing set of eyes but once you have a measure of it--usually it kind of loses its edge. Movies that can make the monster still feel threatening and scary once you’ve seen it are really awesome.
