People keep asking me if Biden's gonna win again

Important to note here that American parties usually do not allow for serious primary challenges when an incumbent is still in office. The only times it's happened in recent memory were against Carter and George H.W. Bush, two presidents with waning popularity who were defeated after a single term--even then, the primary challenges were mostly symbolic.

But there's a twist. For the third straight election, American Democrats are subverting their own primary process, and they've gotten more and more brazen about it with each successive election. In 2020, the Dems simply refused to report results from the Iowa Caucus (the first primary), were very obviously in cahoots with political media to ensure a left-leaning candidate did not win, and orchestrated a mass exodus of all other candidates aside from Biden, Sanders, and Warren immediately before the biggest day on the primary calendar. This year, they are straight-up disallowing candidates other than Biden from appearing on primary ballots in several key states.

Biden is unpopular among independent voters and much less popular than is usually necessary among the demographic groups Democrats count on to win. Obama got something like 90% of the black American vote and 75% of voters under 30 years of age. Democrats have long counted on these demographic advantages to ensure viability at the national level. Even a modest decrease in the support of these groups bodes very poorly for the party.

However, Biden has the full and unqualified support of our political media and of our security state. And the Democratic party has learned they can pretty openly break the civil rules around our elections without facing much criticism, let alone any consequences. It's not technically illegal for a party do intracine cheating, nor for that party to rely on media allies to aggressively smear their opponents, nor for them to partner with federal law enforcement to make sure that bad news about their favored candidates gets censored. This might result in conservative handwringing and meaningless congressional hearings, but that's not enough to overturn an election.

More importantly, the Dems have decided that defeating Trump is more important than maintaining any pretense of our elections being free or fair.

Because of this, I'd say Biden has a very strong (but not certain) chance of getting reelected, in spite of the fact that very few of us Americans are dumb enough to think he's anything other than a senile warmonger.

And, yes, I'm in your boat. I've lost all patience with this NOT VOTING IS FASCISM TRUMP WILL KILL US ALL bullshit. It was annoyingly melodramatic in 2020. In 2024, with the Biden administration pouring tens of billions of dollars into an explicit genocide even as they acknowledge Israel's genocidal intentions--after years of inflaming racial tensions to their worst state in my lifetime and dragging us pointlessly to the brink of World War 3--this hyperbole is fucking sickening.

But, again, it probably won't matter, because we're not really a democracy and we probably never really have been.
