Oh my gosh, ya’ll...I just had kind of a sad thought regarding something with Hunter from the newest Bad Batch episode.
Spoilers for episode 6 below!
I saw someone make a comment on how Hunter didn’t argue against helping Gungi in this episode. My initial thought was because Gungi’s just a kid and there’s no way he would say “no”, but then I had a thought about the last time Hunter was around a kid who was a Jedi...
What if Hunter remembered Caleb and how he couldn’t help him? And maybe he still feels guilty about that?
He knows the Jedi aren’t safe because of Order 66; he even said about Gungi, “He’s a Jedi. He’s not safe anywhere.” And he has no idea what’s happened to Caleb! (Of course, we all know what happens to him, but beside the point) Hunter doesn’t know if he’s dead or alive somewhere, but the last time he faced a Jedi kid, he was unable to help him.
But with Gungi, he knew he could do something and get him somewhere where he’d maybe have a chance at surviving. He had already failed a young Jedi once...he wasn’t going to let that happen again.
If you now feel like you’ve been hit in the feels by a semi-truck, then I’ve done my job. Cuz that’s how I’ve been feeling since I had that thought.
(Seriously, though, loved this episode so much!!)

Why Omega Matters in TBB
I've seen many instances of people exclaiming that Omega is a useless part of the show. I initially agreed. Its hard not to start the show after TCW and think who tf is this random girl clone. Blonde hair, a girl, the secret clone experiment who is the head scientist's assistant that no one knew about?? Sounds like a self insert fanfiction. However, as the show progresses you can't help but like Omega (at least I couldn't). She's funny, cute, always trying to prove herself, and just trying to find a place in the world that is just as confused about her existence as the viewers. No matter what, however, you have to ask yourself, what's the point of having her in the show?
My first line of reasoning I want to point out is pretty surface level; from the standpoint of developing a children's show, it makes sense to make the show center (or at least include) a child or teen that the viewers can relate to. While it isn't necessary persay, (many kids shows don't have a child lead (think superhero shows and such)), with a show that has a pretty dark atmosphere/tone as TBB or TCW, it makes sense to include a child for balance and relatability. This is probably a pretty similar reason as to why Ahsoka was put in TCW. There really is no point in giving Anakin an apprentice except for a younger character the viewers can latch onto and learn things along the way with. And as we all know, after years Ahsoka has become a fan favorite. A mid character can be made great with good writing.
Jumping off my last few points, a new member of the batch allows the viewer to learn new things/context without a weird info dump. The batch literally has to explain what is happening to a kid: Omega and the viewers.
I also want to point out benefits to the plot that come with having Omega around, which I think is pretty important to the themes of the show. While TBB is about this squad fending for itself in a galaxy ruled by the empire, it is also about the relationship dynamic between members. I think the fandom has picked up the "found family" aspect, but it is also about family in general, loyalty, friendship, and what being a team means. Before O66 the squad was so efficient and trusting to each other, that they had a 100% success rate on missions. With the introduction of Omega, their priorities no longer align. Hunter wants to go into hiding with Omega, Echo wants to help Rex, Tech just wants to keep them alive, etc. As well as this, their team doesn't function as well. Omega throws them for a loop and leads them, mostly Hunter, to take paths they wouldn't normally take. This makes for an interesting show.
You're probably wondering why I haven't talked about Crosshair. Especially since his splitting from the group would definitely throw their dynamic into turmoil without needing Omega there. And, you're right. The Crosshair plot probably could have sustained the conflict throughout the season as they try to get him back while also fending for themselves. That is what leads me into my final point.
Omega fulfills the role of "the heart" that none of the other members really fit into. While all the members have morals, obviously, they have been shown to be picky with the missions they take. They avoid missions that are too risky, keep to themselves, and try not to make trouble where it isn't immediately needed. Omega is always the one who pipes up first when someone is in crisis. She was the most visibly concerned about "Muchi", she made them hear Hera out on Ryloth, she heard Gungi and refused to leave without rescuing him, and she was always the most vocal about trying to get Crosshair back. While the batchers may share some sentiments with her, obviously they don't want children to die or be ripped from their family, we can't say for sure that they wouldn't have abandoned these people unknowingly without her to be so unendingly caring about everyone she meets.
And also Omega is just adorable and we all like them being forced into the role of father and uncle and killing it.
Sorry for the long post....This is also my first post so forgive me if I don't know what I'm doing hehe

Luthen must be a Jedi 🤔
👀👀👀 I read something about this after his speech in last week's episode and how it was like Jedi brand™-jaded. but initially, I was like nah it can't be because tony gilroy has consistently said how he wanted to keep andor grounded and like separate from some of the more fantastical elements of star wars. like, i read a quote that said "it's a political-spy thriller that just happens to be set in the Star Wars universe." so I was like... he can't be an ex-jedi... right?
but then he had that speech!!! and then he had the thing that looked like a wooden lightsaber hilt!!! (like the elemental nature ones you can build at disney or gungi's lightsaber in tcw!!) and then he piloted his ship with anakin-level precision and ease and destruction!!!!!
so i'm like. so confused LMAO. if he is an ex-jedi, maybe he'll only allude to it passively. and, to keep the show grounded, maybe he won't tap into the force (i've read a theory that said he may have cut himself off from the force — similar to cere junda in JFO) and won't use the saber. also tbh i'm kind of confused why he would have brought the alleged saber anyway??? like as an ex-jedi, that would just expose him?? but maybe he's obvi-wan kenobi lmao. he's also a collector 🤔 so maybe it was just a piece he had in his shop that he brought to throw ppl off or defend himself??
anyway, idk lskdjflskdj but i'm so excited for the finale next week!! WE WILL BE CRYING IN THIS HOUSE 😭

20, 28, and 32, if you’re still doing the Bad Batch ask game?
Hello hello! Thank you for asking my friend 😁
20. “Which Batcher has the weirdest taste in music” - this is a bit of a tough one. I’ve seen answers for both Echo and Tech and while I get those reasonings, I’m not sure. I think it might depend on what would be considered weird. I also have a hard time talking about my own musical tastes bc they are neither extremely uncommon but nor are they extremely mainstream, so it’s just not something I think about a lot. It honestly could surprisingly be Wrecker, bc I feel like he would listen to anything and therefore might end up stumbling upon really unique things that he then shares with his brothers. Tech probably listens to things that can’t even really be considered music, but I’m guessing there’s also a lot of genres that highly aggravate him. Crosshair would think he’s listening to ultra cool underground punk and heavy metal when in reality he’s just listening to the same punk music everyone else does 😆 and Echo might have a more eclectic taste as well but I think similar to his food preferences he would also have some very specific preferences both for and against certain genres or bands.
28. “Random headcanon I have about Wrecker” - slightly tough one also, as I think about Wrecker the least out of all the Batchers. (Please don’t hate me @wreckers-wife). But, I always am impressed by how selfless and emotionally aware he is. I think his character is often used for laughs or jokes about being hungry or slightly behind on what’s happening around him. But the ways that he is emotionally attuned to his family and takes the initiative to do things especially for Omega—like giving her Lula, or he setting up her bedroom in the gunners nest—I think he knows what it’s like to be without and to not have everything you need, bc very few environments have given him everything he actually needs. So he’s very attuned to other people as best he can be while also sometimes being overwhelmed by his own needs (such as how often he complains about being hungry in season 2).
32. “What is your least favorite episode” - so, I may get some flak for this. I didn’t get that into Tribe this season, DESPITE the fact that I love Gungi, love trees and nature and seeing Kashyyk, and loved the first few minutes where they find and rescue Gungi, and the thrill of getting to see a Jedi and clones and in action together again. But after that….it just didn’t hold my attention. I know that objectively Entombed is a “worse” episode, but at least it gave us a little setup for Phee’s relationship to the Batch in Pabu, even if the rest of its plot went nowhere. But Tribe didn’t really tell me anything about any of the characters that I didn’t already know. It didn’t seem to move the plot forward. Some aspects of it were a little contradictory to things we’ve seen before. It just felt very filler that was trying to be meaningful and somehow fell flat for me. I’m very happy for Gungi and that he’s home safe for now. But otherwise it’s the one I forget about the most, at least from this season.
Hope you enjoyed these :)

Talk of Pouf and Komugi parallels beneath the cut.
Or more specifically, a brief overview of the similar scenario(s) they find themselves in and the ways I believe they've been mirrored.
Pouf and Komugi at some point both become engaged in a competition of sorts against Meruem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of which yields high reward, prizes offered proxy of Meruem himself:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And high risk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What further draws parallels between Komugi and Pouf aren't just their respective situations but their ideologies in this regard. I'd like to highlight a remark from Meruem here of which I believe captures Pouf and Komugi's likeminded approach in their dilemma:
Tumblr media
Meruem mentions that Pouf behaves as if their competition is more than just a game, and for all intents and purposes, he's right.
Much in the same way that Komugi confesses chapters earlier that Gungi matches carry such a weight for her (in that if she loses, she gives her life), Pouf's match with Meruem isn't just a match- though both characters operate within the dimensions of a game, they view their competition as something wielding a greater gravity, and furthermore both believe that to lose is to ultimately die. It should be noted that the stock they place into their matches and its outcome are largely self imposed- Meruem indeed claims high prizes, but it is clear that which he wants (Komugi's arm and Pouf's secrets) fall drastically short of the wagers that Komugi and Pouf are (also) prepared to give. Nothing he ever initially demands as reward implies that they must die if he wins, but both simultaneously take a step further and believe their lives are forfeit should they lose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Komugi and Pouf have risen the stakes for themselves- they both quite literally play their respective matches having put their lives on the line.
Likewise (in Komugi's case, a deviation from she and Meruem's bet, a scene that occurs earlier), both find themselves in similar situations when cornered with a palpable threat from Meruem during their game. Confronted with a question that draws their conflict away from the confines of the match, if they cannot provide a proper answer with which to satisfy him, they will die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When all is said and done however, their challenges never reach their natural conclusion- though Meruem technically continues to play his match with Komugi, he calls off the bet shortly before injuring himself and days later during the invasion, Welfin, wildcard that he is, divulges Pouf's secret to Meruem before either can win the challenge by means of the conditions set for themselves.
Conflicts that have played out pages prior with Komugi see themselves in repeat during Pouf's desperate struggle towards the twilight era of the invasion and I find them to be terribly similar in these aspects. The depiction of these two's extreme approach to how they both meet Meruem's challenge to be both intriguing and a nice tidbit in their overall character arcs.

Hi im here to ruin your evening:
Had Order 66 not been enacted, had the war ended with Republic victory, had everything gone right, Plo Koon would’ve taken on Gungi as a padawan. Gungi, who was a Wookiee like his own Master had been.
He would have taught him the same things that his Master had taught him about being a Jedi, and about Wookiee culture, he would have taken him to Kashyyyk and celebrated Life Day with him, with Sha, and with Plo’s Uncle.
Gungi would’ve been accepted into the Wolffepack by the boys, and would’ve learned the ins and outs of the rest of the Jedi world though Bultar, Lissarkh, and Ahsoka. He would’ve been able to bypass the Trandoshan vs Wookiee stigma.
But that never happened, because Order 66 did hit, and Gungi was one of the children killed in the temple, Plo and Lissarkh werw killed by their own men, Bultar was killed by another Jedi, Sha was killed by Vader, Ahsoka went into hiding, and the unnamed Uncle’s fate is unknown.

Chrollo Headcanons
✰ - Personally I think Chrollo would really love people watching while pretending to have his nose stuck in a book. You likely met in a public setting of some sort. A crowded coffee shop maybe, or you might have even felt him watching you from a bench at a busy park on a nice day. While the foreign gaze initially feels invasive, for most people when they notice they’re being looked at by a handsome stranger who flashes them a confident grin the strange feeling of being watched is washed away. The slight elegant curl of his lips when your eyes meet would send almost anyone’s stomach into a fit of butterflies.
✰ - He loves lending you old copies of his favorite books. It’s apparent that he’s thumbed through each volume he gives you many times, and loves hearing your thoughts as you read. Sometimes he’ll lend you a book and then spend his entire “business trip” itching to hear your commentary on it when he gets back. Although occasionally he’ll purposely lend you something way above what he considers to be your ability. A lengthy philosophical book or the like. While he’s pleasantly surprised if you come back to him understanding it fully, he’s a bit happier watching you struggle through it a bit and come to him to ask questions.
✰ - He equally loves it when you indulge his late night ramblings about whatever bizarre hobby he’s been looking into, book he’s been reading, or that time he got really into gungi but decided 4am was the best time to explain all the rules and best strategies to you. By the end of the week he was totally over the game entirely.
✰ - He has trouble falling asleep and won’t be coming to bed until very late at night. Even then he usually takes a while to wind down as he lays there next to you. Enjoying the sound of your gentle breathing and trying to match his own to it. Eventually he’ll drift off, but it’s always a dreamless sleep.
✰ - His favorite date is a dinner date. Simple with good food and better conversation. He doesn’t mind a comfortable silence on a peaceful night though.
Tumblr media
NSFW
✰ - Generally his favorite thing to do is tease you until you have to beg for it. He likes a lover who’s either very embarrassed to have to beg, or a completely shameless whore who’ll just unravel beneath him. People who are just neutral about it are less fun for him.
✰ - Contrary to popular belief I don’t think Chrollo’s favorite position would be missionary. It’s a really low doggy position with you stretched out underneath him. His chest nearly on your back and his hot breath against your ear as he thrusts into you. Occasionally giving you praise in between low grunts and moans.
✰ - He’s also a big fan of pulling you into his lap and holding you against his chest as you grind into him.
✰ - Not into any one kink, but he loves to try new things in the bedroom constantly. Like getting you an anal training set for stretching you out a bit until you can take the largest one. Trying out different types of vibes and slings. Just general exploration, but he never gets into anything particularly kinky. Without switching things up every so often he’d be pretty bored.
✰ - Likewise he enjoys it not only when you wear lingerie, but when you introduce several new sets. He’d prefer seeing you in something new each time, and if you’re not supplying it on your own he may just start picking some out for you.

ione and gungi weren’t together when order 66 happened, and ione cuts herself off from the force in the initial aftermath to keep herself (and dylan) hidden, so for years she just assumes gungi was killed in the purge. it kills her that she doesn’t know for sure, that she wasn’t there to protect him. he was like a little brother to her.
but then she eventually opens herself back up to the force, and their training bond from all that time ago flares to life again. she and dylan track him to kashyyyk, where she finds the young boy she remembers but older, stronger, no less stubborn but just as dedicated to helping those around him. he’s taller than her by then, but when he hoists her in his large arms and hugs her, ione can almost pretend he’s that little boy who fondly grumbled whenever she ruffled his hair.

I wonder at what age can a Jedi be allowed to leave the Order? Like, obviously a full grown Knight/Master can do it (Lost Twenty), Obi-Wan and Anakin were considering it as Padawans, but what if, hypothetically, and Initiate/Youngling wanted to go back to their bio family? Leaving is not a decision to be made lightly, but kids don't have that maturity/thought process developed yet. Would anyone even take them seriously over, say, a bout of intense homesickness? Or is that considered attachment?
I think it would depend from case to case. We don’t have all that much to go on from, but I’ll try my best to answer.
I’m not taking into account the JA books (because they aren’t canon, haven’t been canon in ages and imo Watson and Wolverton had no business creating so much worldbuilding when Lucas wasn’t done with the PT yet) or any other Legends stuff, because it can be contradictory, confusing, and it often doesn’t reflect creator intent for the movies and TCW.
So, let’s see: Ahsoka’s choice is respected even though she’s only 16 or 17, with s7 and the unreleased crystal arc really emphasizing that it was her decision as a young adult trying to find her way. In s2, Obi-Wan states that he would have left the Order for Satine had she asked, when he was only about 16 at the end of the Mandalore mission. Maybe he would have had to wait a few years? Maybe the Masters would have first talked with him for some time, to try and understand if it was really what he wanted? But he would have been able to leave. In s6, when he talks with Anakin about Padmé and Clovis, he says again that acting upon one’s feelings is a matter of personal decision, so it’s not like he and Satine couldn’t be together because he was forced to stay. He says he chose to stay.
So clearly, Jedi teenagers are considered mature enough by the Order to understand what they want in life.
As for the Younglings, hmm... Several key things here.
One, the Order doesn’t disapprove of wanting to connect to one’s birth culture. (Evidenced by the very diverse clothing, Barriss’ Mirialan prayer statue, Ahsoka and Shaak Ti’s headdresses, this long post on Jedi views on blood families, Byph and Gungi speaking only their native languages instead of Basic, etc etc...) So I think Jedi kids experiencing serious homesickness would be encouraged to connect with their heritage to try and understand if it’s really what they are looking for.
Two, it’s implied that even little children have some say in whether or not they become Jedi in the first place. When Plo finds Ahsoka, we see him holding out his hand and waiting for her to take it while the Togruta adults stay back. They don’t just drop her into his arms and wave bye-bye. The Rodian child in the Holocron Arc in s2 is shown to be super precocious - super eagerly floating toys around when Anakin himself didn’t display fine telekinesis when he was untrained - and he is in a transitory period. His mother has met with Jedi before, but says he’s still in her care “for some time.” That might indicate there’s still time for a change of plans. In the newest Mandalorian episode, Ahsoka tells Din that Grogu will be the one to decide his path, even though he’s a toddler. Similarly, Qui-Gon asks both Shmi and Anakin before taking him to the Temple.
Three, we have no idea if there is such a thing as “being a minor” in the Galaxy, tbh. It would vary between species, obviously, and probably between planets. I mean, Padmé was Queen at 14, and her handmaidens/bodyguards were her age. Leia was involved in politics at 15. Jedi Padawans were considered mature enough to teach academic subjects - like politics - to kids older than they were (see Ahsoka being asked to teach older Mandalorian teenagers at age 14) and mature enough to be Commanders within a very strict chain of command.
From what we see in AotC and TCW, it’s never in line with Jedi teachings to just dismiss any kid’s thought process as “too immature.” Yoda values the little children’s contributions in AotC, and in Lightsaber Lost (TCW s2) Jocasta and Tera Sinube respect Ahsoka’s decision not to go to Anakin about her lightsaber - and they help her figure it out by herself and grow. And while Aayla forces her to come along and leave Anakin behind in Jedi Crash (TCW s2) she does take the time to explain to her why it’s important, Ahsoka does choose to obey, and they do have a very serious talk about it as they walk. Luminara does dismiss Ahsoka as inexperienced in s1ep9, before fighting Ventress, and then takes it back and apologizes. Obi-Wan frequently asks Anakin and Ahsoka their opinion, and even lets them make the plans. In Yoda’s vision meant to tempt him with his deepest desire, he sees Katooni (who is like 11, maybe?) as his guiding figure. Younglings go alone in the caves of Ilum and Yoda trusts them to understand that his warning about being trapped was just a trick - he doesn’t want them to take everything he says as gospel, he wants them to think, and he praises 12-year-old Petro for just breaking the ice door. Throughout canon, we see that Jedi see children as people, with a mind of their own and the ability to understand what’s going on around them and make informed decisions.
Based on all of that, I think that younglings wanting to leave would be taken seriously. I think it would be extraordinarily rare (because as I’ll show once I finally manage to finish that analysis of the Ilum arc, Jedi kids appear to love their lifestyle and their community, and to be emotionally healthy), but it might happen - and I think the Masters would really take the time to talk with them, try to understand why, and provide them with solutions - and possibly help them return to their birth families, if that’s what they decided in the end.
About the attachment thing, I have another meta in the works that’s been sitting in my drafts for months x) And it shows that the Jedi aren’t paranoid about it, merely cautious. Attachment (which is very different from love or healthy connections to other people and/or a culture) is a very really danger for psychic people so vulnerable to their emotions, but Jedi don’t spend their days scrutinizing every single aspects of their relationships and their intentions trying to determine if there’s even the faintest shadow of attachment lurking behind. It’s not some frightening taboo thing. They discuss it freely (again, Aayla and Ahsoka in s2). If a kid was attached to his birth family and wanted to go back, then all the more reason to seriously consider his opinion and let him go. (Just like with Grogu and Din). Because the path of a Jedi isn’t for everyone, and that’s perfectly okay.
Anyway, hope that’s good enough of an answer. I know there are older asks in my inbox I haven’t answered yet, sorry. I promise I’m working on them.

JEDI FAMILY HEADCANON
Shaak Ti is the mother of both Ahsoka & Ashla (the Togruta youngling from attack of the clones), and all of the clones including Boba & Omega.
Depa Billaba is Caleb Dume/Kanan Jarrus's mother.
The youngling from Ki-Adi's species, that Ahsoka saved, is his son, but neither of them know it.
Luminara is Barriss's mother.
Either Adi Galia or Stass Allie is Katooni's mother.
Gungi is from the same tribe as Chewbacca.
Aayla Secura sends Quinlan father's day cards.
Plo Koon always receives father's day cards from Little Soka, even after she left the Order.
Ahsoka considers almost all of the younglings to be her younger siblings.
Ezra Bridger gave Hera and Kanan mother's day and father's day cards.
Meetra Surik regards Master Kavar as her father, and Vima Sunrider as her mother.
Revan considered Arren Kae like a mother.
Atris thought of Meetra like a sister before the Mandalorian Wars.
All of the younglings and initiates think Yoda & Yaddle are Grogu's parents, which the two Masters find hilarious.
Galen Marek thinks of Kota like a drunk uncle.
After Revan & Bastila's marriage, there was a petition to change the Jedi code to allow such things for all Jedi, but the colder members of the Council punished everyone who signed it instead of listening to them.
Revan considers Mission Vao like a daughter, which is the real reason he refused to bring her along when looking for Mandalore's mask.

hi!!! could you maybe recommend me some books/sources of information on how jedi order works?? wookieepedia is a little overwhelming to me lmao, and i kinda wanted to plan a fic about crèche master anakin, but that requires a lot of information about how raising younglings and clans work, more than i know at the moment!! thank you!
Hi!  I have a meta guide for everything we know about the Jedi in canon here: Taking a Closer Look at the Jedi Order in Star Wars Canon [Meta/Reference Guide] You’ll find the most in chapters 3 and 4, which is really only a handful of mentions about the creche (you can just ctrl+F for mentions, if you want)--the problem is that there really isn’t any book or source of information on how the Jedi Order works. This area of worldbuilding has really been done almost nothing with it, especially because there are two separate continuities, where you have Canon and you have Legends.  Legends probably has more details, but it’s always been non-canon to George Lucas’ Star Wars and so it really just kind of did its own thing (which often led to some amazing stories! Legends is a continuity that has a ton of value and meaning to people! but it also often contradicted what the Jedi were actually like because much of it was created pre-Attack of the Clones, so there weren’t even the three main movies out yet, much less The Clone Wars being out), which means you’re absolutely free to use it, but be wary of how it’s not always consistent. There’s not really even a source of information on what the Force feels like or how it works, aside from the interviews George Lucas has given on these things, which likely informs how canon attempts to treat these things, as they’ve said they’re trying to stay true to his themes now (for example--Legends often had “grey Force users” being stable, but canon now works according to George’s statements of how that’s not possible, the dark side corrupts, you have to actively resist it or you’ll fall to it), because not much worldbuilding has been done on this aspect of them. Instead, you have to piece together what we get in bits and bobs in the canon, which is what I’ve done with the above.  If you want, you can read stuff like the Jedi Apprentice books, but they’re pretty firmly not canon anymore (like they had an age limit of 13, which has been overwritten by canon, where Ahsoka was 14 when she became a Padawan, there was a youngling in Dooku: Jedi Lost who was 16 and indicated they’d have to wait another year, there was no indication of impending age limit, even in Legends there was a book that had a 17 year old initiate who would have to keep trying) and so, again, you’re pretty free to make up whatever you like about the way Jedi creches work. The few things we do know, as mentioned in the above link: - On arrival at the Temple, Initiates are sorted into clans to help them foster trust and kinship. [Dooku: Jedi Lost] - When a Jedi youngling becomes a Padawan, they seem to go from the creche to partnering with their Master, though, first there are conversations with the crechemaster and the Master at some point:    Obi-Wan said, “You know, I never had problems with that as a youngling. Being independent, I mean. I broke rules right and left. They even called me rebellious. Probably the Masters were surprised anyone was willing to take me on as an apprentice.”  In fact, Qui-Gon had been warned about this very thing. He’d long since assumed that the crèche masters’ concern was overcautious. [Master and Apprentice] - Yaddle spends at least some time in the creche, whether regularly or they have rotating ones, is anyone’s guess, but she was there when Qui-Gon was a youngling:       “Only yesterday, Dooku had chosen [Qui-Gon] as Padawan. He’d spent his last night in the younglings’ crèche laughing with his friends, imagining all the adventures he would have, and practicing with his lightsaber in the sparring room until Master Yaddle ordered him to bed.“  [Master and Apprentice] - They teach the younglings about the Force there:    “Qui-Gon whispered, “The dark side?” He knew it was a thing all beings carried within them, a part of himself he would learn to guard against—the crèche masters had taught him all that. But it still sounded a little like some kind of ghost or monster, a mysterious thing that would leap out from the shadows to get you when you weren’t looking.” [Master and Apprentice], which is a direct echo of George Lucas explaining the Force: “ Only way to overcome the dark side is through discipline. The dark side is pleasure, biological and temporary and easy to achieve. The light side is joy, everlasting and difficult to achieve.”  (George Lucas, Clone Wars writers meeting) - These bonds do seem to be significant, to at the very least some degree, as Obi-Wan thinks of his “creche-mate” even when he’s 17, indicating that possibly they’re often lifelong friends:       Obi-Wan’s crèche-mate Prie, for instance, had been partnered with a Master who was expert in two things [....] [Master and Apprentice] - The younglings in the creche seem to sleep near each other (I have a personal headcanon that they sleep in piles, all cuddled up with each other, because Space Psychics) because they seem to often gossip with each other night by candle droid:  In Dooku: Jedi Lost there is a gossip story passed around about a possibly expelled Padawan long ago, one that keeps getting passed around by Initiates telling stories by glow lanterns at night, which indicates that it’s considered juicy enough/surprising enough that it doesn’t seem to happen much/if at all. - We do see Yoda and Tera Sinube teaching classes of younglings as well, so they’re probably familiar to almost every youngling who passes through the creches.  Whether these classes are based on the younglings’ clans or if they’re randomized, we have no idea, though.  I’m assuming that at least some of them were based on clans, because we see Yoda teaching Bear Clan in Attack of the Clones, which also gives us an indication of the size of them--probably somewhere between four and eight.
Tumblr media
We also see in Dooku: Jedi Lost that Dooku was part of the Hawk-Bat Clan, which often did things together, that Dooku spent time with Thranta Clan, while Tera Sinube spent more time with Heliost Clan. It’s probably reasonable to assume that the Jedi younglings from “The Gathering” are a clan as well, showing that they do things together fairly often:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though, we see two other younglings there and Ganodi doesn’t seem to be part of the group, assuming that that’s Gungi, Byph, Petro, and Zatt with her.  But we do see Tera Sinube spending time with them here and again later, when they’re practicing with their lightsabers:
Tumblr media
Though, again, we see more than just that one clan--unless the two other younglings are part of their clan and just weren’t on that specific trip to Ilum with the others?  Entirely possible there, too. But that’s it, that’s all we know.  Anything else isn’t canon/never really was and can be fun to use, but I often find it doesn’t really fit well with what we’re shown in The Clone Wars or with George’s themes for SW. I think it makes sense, though, that it works like a communal society, where there are crechemasters who look after the children in their little mini-family clans, helping shepherd them to their classes, who shoo the children to bed at night and take care of them, talk with them about the things they need to know, work to help ease the transition when they become apprentices, etc. (As a note:  If you’re reading Wookieepedia, even on the canon pages, they’ll reference The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force sometimes, but be wary, as that book is very firmly not canon.  Elements of it may be recanonized, but only what appears in books like Dooku: Jedi Lost, Master and Apprentice, Choose Your Destiny: Obi-Wan & Anakin, Age of the Republic: Obi-Wan Kenobi, etc. are actually canon.)

Some concept writing! I originally wasn’t planning to post this (because self-indulgent), but it seemed popular during the daily snippets so here it is.  This is a similar base universe to this concept, but Caleb got rescued soon afterwards.
About 2.4K below the break. Please note I don’t warn.
***
Hera didn’t have to ask to know that the Jedi were uncomfortable with her being here, but she wasn’t rude enough to comment on it.  She followed Master Unduli through the wide, airy corridors of the Hidden Temple, trying not to sneeze at the heady, unfamiliar scent of the massive tree it was built in.  It had been an impressive sight on approach; if Hera had had the luxury she would have been happy to take half an hour or so to fly around it, inspecting it from roots to canopy.  Inside, it felt solemn, temple-like, but without the heaviness Hera had half-expected before coming inside.  There were very few people about for its size, but she didn’t know if it was because most of the surviving Jedi were absent or because there had been fewer survivors than she had assumed.
“Caleb’s hurt?” she asked eventually. “How?”
Master Unduli paused, then turned back towards Hera.  Hera stopped obediently, looking at the other woman – they were nearly of a height. “What did Master Windu tell you?”
“Just that Caleb had been hurt during the – the Purge.”  She stumbled over the word, self-conscious about mentioning it in front of a Jedi. “But that was months ago –”
Master Unduli bit her lip, hesitating over the words.  When she finally went on, Hera suspected that it was less because she actually wanted to talk about it and more because there was no way not to say.  “The traitor Jedi – they’re starting to be called Inquisitors now – took prisoners, mostly younglings, some initiates.”  A muscle in her jaw worked silently before she went on. “Caleb is the only padawan we know of who was taken; one of the traitors had an – an obsession with him.  His master was killed.  We were able to rescue some of the younglings and Caleb a few weeks ago.  The physical injuries are one thing,” she went on. “Except for the broken bones, they’re mostly healed now.  But he’s hurt inside, very badly, and nothing any of us can do can get through to him. Master Billaba said that you two had a connection during their last mission to Ryloth.”
Hera hesitated, uncertain if Master Unduli’s delicate phrasing meant she knew that they had had an affair. “I’m not a Jedi.”
“He doesn’t need another Jedi,” Master Unduli said, sounding very sad and very tired. “He needs a reason to live.”
Hera looked up at her, horrified.
The Mirialan gave her a weary smile and then started walking again.  Hera followed her, feeling a little sick. “I love him,” she said to Master Unduli’s back, glad that she wasn’t looking at the woman’s face; she knew it wasn’t the sort of thing that the Jedi approved of, though Depa Billaba had never protested it. “Maybe he loves me.  We didn’t talk about it when he was on Ryloth.  I didn’t ask him to leave the Order; I wouldn’t have.  I know how much it meant to him.”
Master Unduli looked back at her. “That doesn’t matter anymore,” she said wearily. “There are enough of us dead that if something will keep one of us alive, then we’ll take that chance.”
Hera swallowed and kept following her.
Master Unduli led her to a room in an outer fold of the trunk; a tired-looking teenage Wookiee was sitting outside it, mostly asleep.  He got to his feet as they approached and crooned a question.
“I’ll take over, Gungi,” Master Unduli said. “Go get some rest or some food.”
The Wookiee nodded and bowed, then trotted down the corridor the way they had come.
Hera swallowed uneasily, then made herself ask, “Is he – did he hurt –”
“No,” Master Unduli said immediately, not having to ask what Hera meant. “But we would rather be safe than sorry.”  She put her hand on the door and it slid silently open.
The room beyond was bright and airy, with light spilling in through an open window.  The bed was empty, sheets and blankets pulled off it into a knot on the floor; it took Hera a moment to see Caleb, sitting on the floor with his back against the wall where the sunlight could touch him.  His eyes were closed; he didn’t look up as the door opened.
“Caleb?” Hera said.
His eyes snapped open, wide with shock and surprise.  His lips shaped her name silently before he pushed to his feet, bracing himself against the wall; he was barefoot, and Hera could see the splint on one ankle.  Hera crossed the room to him quickly so that he didn’t try to walk on what was clearly a broken bone, feeling him flinch for an instant as she put her arms around him.  Then he hugged her back, burying his face in her shoulder.
Mindful of his injured ankle and the bandages Hera could feel beneath his shirt, she helped him sit again and sank down beside him.  He put his face into her shoulder, weeping silently as she held him against her.
“It’s all right,” Hera whispered to him in Twi’leki. “It’s all right, it’s me, I’m here, you’re all right.”
Master Unduli slipped silently out of the room, letting the door slide shut behind her.
Eventually Caleb straightened to look at her.  Hera cupped his face in her hand, touching the fresh scar on his chin, the small one that cut through his left eyebrow.  There was another scar around his neck, a pair of them on his wrists, all with the slightly raw newness of bacta and recent healing.  Hera touched them gently, then kissed him.  It was only when she drew her fingers through his hair, loose around his face, that she realized his padawan braid was gone.
He kissed her back, touching her face gently with the backs of his knuckles. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice hoarse.
“Master Windu asked me to come because you were hurt,” Hera said, a little hesitant.  She kissed him again. “I thought you were dead.  I’m so glad you’re not –”
He sighed, tipping his forehead down against hers. “I wished I was, for a while,” he admitted.
“I know Master Billaba is dead,” Hera told him.
Caleb nodded, shutting his eyes. “He killed her,” he said eventually. “In front of me – because of me.”
“Who is he?”
She felt him start trembling and kissed him again. “It’s all right,” Hera told him. “I’m here, you’re here, there are a hundred Jedi here.”
“More than that,” he said absently, his gaze going unfocused for an instant. “He’s a Knight,” he said eventually, his voice hesitant; Hera had the immediate impression that for the rest of his life there would only be one he. “A Temple Guard.  He…hurt me. He killed Master Billaba and he hurt me.”  He looked down at his hands as if he had never seen them before, tracing the scar on one wrist.
“Do you want to tell me about it?” Hera asked gently.
“I don’t even want to think about it,” he said.  “Except I can’t stop, even here.  He’s – he –”
Hera took his shaking hands. “You don’t have to talk about it.”  She kissed his knuckles gently, silently noting the scars there, as if he had battered his hands bloody against some hard surface.  “I can talk, if you want.  What do you want me to talk about?”
Caleb shrugged. “Tell me about the temple?” he said eventually. “I was unconscious when we got here.”  When Hera frowned at him, concerned, he said sheepishly, “They had to sedate me when we left Mustafar – where the Inquisition headquarters are.  I haven’t seen anything here except the halls of healing and this room.  I’ve heard the Hidden Temple is beautiful.”
“It is,” Hera agreed. “I don’t know if the Jedi would let me fly around it for a better look, since I came straight in when I landed.  Everything is forest, all around – not the whole planet; there are plains and mountains and at least one sea that I saw – but around the temple it’s all forest, with trees as big as this one.  I think this one is at least the size of a star destroyer.  Everything outside is all shades of green, even the light, because it has to filter in through the forest canopy.  Some of the branches are almost wide enough to land the Ghost – my ship – on, and there are platforms where smaller branches have come together as supports for gardens, even pools and waterfalls that come from other parts of the tree, I’m not sure how –”
“The roots draw up water from beneath the forest floor,” Caleb murmured.  “It’s like wroshyr trees on Kashyyyk, a little, but different.”
“I’ve never been to Kashyyyk,” Hera admitted.  She had been off Ryloth a number of times, but never that far afield.
“It’s pretty,” Caleb said. He sounded a little sleepy, leaning his head against her shoulder.  “You’d like it.”
Hera touched his hair gently.  She was still a little fascinated by it; it was as soft under her fingers now as it had been all those months ago back on Ryloth. “I thought the halls here would be dark, but they’re full of light.  There are windows –”  She nodded at the one in the room’s outer all, “– some big, some so small I couldn’t see them except that they let in light, and glowing flowers and moss. Everything is decorated with carvings, sometimes inlaid wood or gems or shell.  I didn’t see anything painted, but they brought me straight here from the hangar.”  She hesitated, then asked, “Why haven’t you been out of this room?  You’re not a prisoner?”
“I could if I wanted,” he said. “They’d probably keep someone with me in case I fell over.  And I’ve got a cracked collarbone and three broken ribs, so the healers aren’t thrilled with the idea of me wandering around even without the broken ankle.”  He turned his gaze downwards, studying the scars on his hands.  “Usually we heal faster than that.  It’s not…working very well for me just now.  They’re worried about that.”  He ringed his left wrist with his right hand, fingers overlaying the shackle galls there.
Hera turned her head and kissed him gently.
Caleb kissed her back, mouth warm against hers and surprisingly delicate.
“How did you get hurt?” Hera asked him. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” she added when he hesitated.
“The ankle was an accident,” he said eventually.  “I fell badly when he was knocking me around.  The rest is from him knocking me around.  He had me chained up most of the time,” he added, rubbing the scar on his wrist before he gestured vaguely at his face and the unfamiliar scars there.  “Lightsaber, from the Temple.  I’ve got some others.  Everything else is healed already.  It’s just flesh,” he added wearily. “It doesn’t matter.”
“I think by definition bones aren’t flesh,” Hera said mildly, and was rewarded by seeing his mouth quirk for a moment in a smile.
“You know what I mean.”
Hera didn’t, not entirely, but she curved her hands around his face and kissed him anyway.
“I thought about you,” he breathed against her mouth. “I thought about you all the time.  About talking with you, about being with you, about –”  He bit her lower lip gently.
Hera smiled.  She was a little disoriented by the sudden change of subject, but not opposed to it; she also thought that Caleb was probably desperate to think about anything but what had happened to him. “About what?”
“Guess.”  He kissed her again.
Hera kissed him back, sliding her fingers into his hair.  After a moment she climbed into his lap, bracing her knees against his hips as he pulled at the hem of her shirt, undoing the fastenings from bottom to top.
“I thought about your breasts,” he said gravely once he had her shirt open.
“Good,” Hera said, grinning as she shrugged her shirt off over her shoulders.  She shivered a little as Caleb kissed the top of each breast, his lips slightly chapped despite the planet’s relative humidity. She reached to draw her hands up over his chest, meaning to pull his shirt off, and accidentally put her palm against his cracked collarbone.
Caleb flinched back, hissing through his teeth.  He didn’t dislodge her, but his hands tightened where they were braced against her thighs.  His eyes were wide with shock and pain, suddenly unfocused – thrown out of the moment to somewhere else.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Hera gasped.  She touched his face, trying to drag him out of whatever nightmare he had suddenly been forced back into, and said, “Caleb – Caleb, it’s all right, it’s just me –”
For a horrifying moment, longer than Hera liked, there was no comprehension in his eyes, just blind terror.  Then he blinked, shuddering; his lips formed her name before he tipped his forehead down against her shoulder, shaking.  Hera held him against her, feeling him weep silently, his tears briefly warm against her bare skin before they cooled.
“It’s all right,” she breathed. “It’s all right, Caleb, you’re safe, you’re not there, you’re here, you’re all right –”
He shook his head, not looking up. “No,” he said eventually, his voice utterly flat. “No.”
Hera held him until he finally cried himself out, murmuring to him in Twi’leki.  When she thought she could, she got up to fetch a blanket from the tangle of sheets on the floor by the bed and brought it back to him, wrapping it around his shoulders.  She pulled her shirt back on and sat down beside him, her arm around him.
“Can I help?” she asked him. “What can I do, love?  What do you need?”
Caleb shook his head wearily, his expression so tired and so hurt that he looked a decade older.  He leaned his head against Hera’s shoulder, turning his face down so that she couldn’t see it.
“All right,” Hera said gently. “I’m here.  I love you, and I won’t leave you.  When you need me, I’m here.”  She kissed the top of his head.
He didn’t say anything, but after a moment his hand found hers.

This post is gonna be hella damn messy but bear with me.
If I had to choose my personal favorite arc in hxh, it would be Yorknew city arc. I rewatched chimera ant arc and I love it really. But if I had to compare the pacing, ost and how much it kept me on edge then I would definitely go for Yorknew city arc. Yorknew city arc was about comparison between the characters while Chimera ant arc was about the contradictory within the characters + questioning humanity on the basis of class discrimination which they did brilliantly.
There are some things that I actually wanted to talk about Chimera ant arc.
Shoot and Youpi.
If you go to see, the character that fought Youpi head on, although did extremely minor injury, was Shoot. The biggest worrywart of the arc was even ready to fight the monster all alone even while barely being able to move. He made sure he wouldn't faint because if he fainted, hotel rafflesia would deactivate. I fucking LOVED this man for what he did. Youpi also was my favorite Royal Guard. Youpi was a definitely hard to deal with character considering how much he kept on evolving and I fucking loved that.
Knuckle and his ability.
If only Knuckle wasn't such a softie for everyone and everything, Chapter 7: Bankruptcy would have turned out to be the best ability in this arc. He deactivated it against Youpi simply because Youpi complimented them and showed a sign of being humane, completely forgetting the fact that Youpi almost butchered and humiliated Shoot. His ability is so amazing, I truly loved it. What I noticed was however, contradictory to Shoot, a worrywart, who faced head on against Youpi, Knuckle was the one of the only ones uninjured because he kept escaping from one place to another. This contradicts his confidence.
Knov and Morel.
Knov alongside Morel insulted Killua when he was introduced initially however he was the one with the weakest willpower. I felt pathetic when I was watching his breakdown. Morel on the other hand had no morals.
Shaiapouf.
Annoying as fuck. Literally. I hate this guy with all my heart.
Neferpitou.
I liked how they're character kept on changing and fluctuating while still being how they were but nonetheless, I didn't like their character. I will have to admit tho, Dr. Blythe is an amazing ability.
Palm.
One of the other characters I loved during this arc was Palm. Unlike her mentor, Palm wasn't afraid. She got scared, got caught, was turned into a Chimera Ant, her memories were operated, she became their experiment yet she broke through it. Not only that but above all, she kept Komugi safe and was one of the only three people that got Mereum's respect. She saw through Pouf's plan and honestly I wanted her to defeat pouf after what they did to her.
Gon.
The most contradicting character of this arc. I can't explain how I felt watching him. Him losing all sense of reasoning, disregarding Killua. Like you are just stuck in between when you think about Gon in this arc.
Killua.
The only character that actually wasn't contradicting was Killua. He had an amazing character development in this arc. He was the in between of the whole YinYang going on in the arc. The one who had valid sense of reasoning and went on to save whoever and however possible.
One thing I noticed during the fights against Royal Guards was, if you are fast or have teleportation ability or can go invisible, then you are able to defeat them. Knuckle escape not once but TWICE from Youpi's explosions without being injured because of how fast he was. Invisibility isn't as much effective as being fast or having teleportation is. This can be seen during when Meleron was taking away Morel and Youpi could identify them because Morel was bleeding.
I saw a lot of comments and stuff on videos that Phantom Troupe wouldn't have a chance against the Royal Guards, which I think is overestimating the Royal Guards because 1) none of the members in the Phantom Troupe have shown their full capacity and 2) like I stated before being fast or having teleportation can be a huge plus point in the fights.
So, if it were Phantom Troupe vs Royal Guards, then it would have been.
Youpi vs Feitan; Shaiapouf vs Machi and Neferpitou vs Phinks.
All three fights in Presence of Chrollo.
Mereum and Komugi's last scene killed me and ripped my heart apart. Throughout the Chimera Ant arc that was the only scene I cried. I cried myself to sleep and I still can't stop thinking about it. But if I had to choose my personal favorite scene from the arc, it would be hands down the scene where Mereum remembered Komugi. The scenery, them playing Gungi with no one around. That whole scene symbolises that for Mereum, only him and Komugi mattered, he didn't see anything else and the scenery indicates that whenever he is with Komugi, he is at peace, its his most peaceful time. And I think, thats truly beautiful.
I think I am finished with the mess I have written lmao anyways—
"Komugi, are you there?"
