PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting as COVID-19 cases continue to spike
Covid and Influenza cases are increasing in the country at a rapid rate. On Wednesday, PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the spike in the cases.
During the meeting, the prime minister urged healthcare providers and governments to maintain a strict vigil against covid-19. He also asserted the importance of genome sequencing at this time and said that it should be done more. Addressing to the meeting members, Modi also said that the Covid situation is ‘far from over.’
The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday stated that India recorded 1,134 new Covid cases, while the active cases increased to 7,026.  The situation is continually getting worse.
The meeting was held to brief the Prime Minister about the rising Covid cases in the country and to update that the average daily cases are 888 and weekly positivity was reported as 0.98 percent in the week ending March 22.
Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Kerala have registered one death each which increased the total number of deaths due to Covid to 5,30,813.
Maharashtra remains at the top of the Covid-19 spread as the state recorded 334 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday. The total number of COVID-infected people in Maharashtra has now reached 1648 with one fatality recorded.
The Prime Minister asked people to follow Coronavirus safety protocol and maintain respiratory hygiene. He urged them to follow appropriate behavior in crowded places.

Aperçu of the Week:
"Music is a language in which you can't lie."
(Hubert von Goisern, Austrian singer-songwriter and founder of alpine rock)
Bad News of the Week:
The El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is upon us again. This weather phenomenon of the equatorial Pacific happens at irregular intervals of two to eight years and refers to the occurrence of unusual, non-cyclical, altered ocean currents in the oceanographic-meteorological system. Without going into detail about Walker cells, trade winds and surface waters, let's just say that the weather between South America and Southeast Asia is tipping. With worldwide effects.
Plankton dies en masse and leads to the collapse of entire food chains, e.g. there are no more fish off Peru, seabirds die in the entire Pacific. Unnaturally heavy rainfall on the western side of the Andes causes landslides and flooding. In Southeast Asia and Australia, the lack of rain causes huge bush and forest fires, and the Amazon region and southern Africa dry out. Huge hurricanes develop in Mexico, the monsoon intensifies in India, and coral bleaching increases significantly worldwide. Everywhere it becomes noticeably warmer.
El Niño has already been documented by the pre-Columbian Incas and is even believed to have led to the extinction of the Moche civilization. It is therefore a natural phenomenon for which, for once, humans are not to blame. However, since man-made climate disasters such as floods, hurricanes and forest fires have increased dramatically in recent years, more than a few experts expect a reciprocal amplification that could be devastating due to its cascading effect. In the best case, humanity gets a temporary taste of circumstances to come, hopefully leading to more immediate action to mitigate climate change impacts. At worst, this heated combination pushes climatic tipping points past their very tipping point. Which, as we know, is irreversible.
Good News of the Week:
The annual G7 summit is over. This time under Japanese leadership in Hiroshima. This cooperation format of the seven economically strongest Western nations (Japan, USA, Canada, France, Great Britain, Italy and Germany) with the participation of the European Union originally saw itself as a forum for discussing issues of the global economy. And in recent years, it has evolved into a hub that also has security and sociopolitical relevance. Therefore, an unsurprising item on the program this year was the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenski to promote fighter jets.
Just as predictable as the condemnation of Russia's war of aggression was the theme of economic cooperation with China while distancing oneself from its geopolitical and human rights positions. The same applies to concerns about climate change, declining biodiversity and the too-slow expansion of renewable energies - albeit without any significant breakthroughs. Also, security of supply in globalized trade and cooperation with emerging economic powers. So no surprises at all?
Yes, in my opinion there are. After the delivery chain issues at the time of the Corona pandemic, the grain exports from Ukraine and fertilizers from Russia, which have been stopped in the meantime, have thrown another spotlight on the global food situation. Which is shitty to say the least. Among other things, because it is precisely the poorest countries that are most affected by the effects of climate change that are already being felt today.
Last year, under German auspices, the G7 and the World Bank founded the Global Alliance for Food Security (GAFS). According to its statutes, the alliance is committed to an agile, targeted and rapid response to food crises, which at the same time takes the right path toward sustainable agricultural systems. And pools the corresponding resources of its members: Germany, for example, has already been giving 2 billion euros annually for years to fight hunger in needy countries.
Now, according to a communiqué, the G7 have decided to provide a further 21 billion U.S. dollars in emergency aid. German Development Minister Svenja Schulze, initiator of the GAFS, commented: "The fact that the G7 are now united in their commitment to a further and holistic commitment one year later is a strong sign of solidarity with the Global South."
Of course, this is not enough. Oxfam, for example, points out that the UN has put the financial requirement in this regard at 55 billion. The G7 would have therefore failed in terms of development policy. But if you take a look at the bare figures, you will see that the G7 are contributing their fair share according to their economic performance. I am not aware of any corresponding initiative by China, India, Russia, Brazil or the Arab world. So we are on track so far. At least we are. And at least on a topic that too rarely makes it into the headlines.
Personal happy moment of the week:
My two children are getting older - and on their own feet. First, my daughter, who just turned 20, was in Budapest with the political science department of her university. Although only in her first year of study already as a group leader. And then my son, who just turned 15, was at the partner school in Paris. As the only one from the 8th grade and the youngest participant of the student exchange. Both not only completed their trip with aplomb, but also took the opportunity to present themselves as cosmopolitan, curious, self-confident young people. And made their dad proud.
I couldn't care less...
...about the voting behavior of Turks in Germany. Because they are allowed to vote in their home country, even if they are resident abroad. And they do. In large numbers. Unfortunately, two-thirds for Recep Erdogan. That was the case in the regular presidential election a week ago and that will be the case in the runoff election a week from now. I do not understand that. People who live in a well developed prosperous democracy should actually appreciate its canon of values - and not keep an autocrat in power.
As I write this...
...I am sitting on the train to Cologne. As I or my employer had booked it. Which is no longer a matter of course in view of the frequent strikes lately. The next round of negotiations between the union and Deutsche Bahn is scheduled for the day after tomorrow, so my return trip should also work out that day. On schedule. Which is tantamount to being late. Right now, we've been theoretically on the move for 12 minutes - but we're still standing on the platform in Munich. So everything is completely normal.
Post Scriptum
The Arab League has welcomed Syria's ruler Bashar al-Assad back into its midst - with a brotherly kiss. Those who were still waiting for proof that human rights do not always feel at home in the Arab cultural area (to put it mildly) now have it. The greeting "Salam alaikum" means "(May) peace be upon you". Yeah - but some terms and conditions apply.

COMBATING SKIN PROBLEMS CAUSED BY CONTINUOUS USE OF FACE MASKS
Before the onset of Corona Virus, face masks were a rare sight in cities. They were worn in India mainly during the months of October and November due to a surge in the air pollution levels but were not seen anywhere after this period. The has comepletely changed now. Many healthcare experts across the world are advocating that one has to continue using the mask untill the end of 2021. Some even prognosticate that face masks will become a necessity in the future, just like mobile phones and the internet. Ministry of Health has also advised using face masks. Face masks are now gradually making a place in our daily lives.
A few weeks ago on social media platforms, one could see images of doctors and nurses with severe redness and marks on their faces due to prolonged use of face masks. The Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in USA has also advocated use of face masks or to wear a cloth covering the face to prevent the spread of corona virus. These masks prevent us from touching our face with hands. They also prevent the spread of droplet infection caused by sneezing or coughing . The Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in USA has also advocated the use of face masks to prevent the spread of corona virus.
Face masks & skin
A team from Universityof Huddersfield’s Institute of Skin Integrity and Infection Prevention did a study published in the Journal of Wound Care in which one may find that skin can suffer great consequences from constant face covering. The study states that most face masks have tight facial fit which forms a seal around the mouth and nose area. The tight facial fit feature prevents the air-borne virus to enter the respiratory system, however; it creates friction and pressure on the skin. This “intense and prolonged” pressure leads to several skin problems.
This is how the skin responds to it –
1. Moisture and vapour, alongwith secretions like saliva, mucus and sebum are trapped inside the mask.
2. These secretions disrupt the natural lipid layer of skin. It causes pH imbalance.
3. Humidity and heat from the environment further accentuates perspiration.
4. The material of the face masks also have certain chemicals that can cause allergic reactions As a result, the skin gets red, flaky, itchy and swells up.
5. Breakouts and acne problems also arises for people with oily skin.
Once we remove the mask from face, the sudden gush of air often over dries the skin. Dust particles suspended in the air also cause skin rashes.
The question arises; should one avoid using face mask? The answer is, absolutely not. Face masks, hand sanitizers and social distancing are the safety measures necessary for fighting Covid-19. However, some skincare tips can be followed to tackle this effectively.
Tips for Before and After face mask use
Skin experts and dermatologists have recommended a few guidelines for combating skin problems while wearing a face mask.
1. Wash face before and after using a mask – It equally important to wash your face as well as your hands. Use a mild “sulphate-free” facial cleanser to remove sweat and grime from your face. People with oily skin should look for ingredients that controls excess oil and help balancing the pH of your skin. A good facial cleanser will effectively remove bacteria and unclog pores. It reduces the risk of breakouts and acne problems. Ingredients like Neem, Aloe Vera and Turmeric have excellent anti-bacterial effects. They also control excess oil and soothe skin. Sulfate-free formula will not cause over-drying of skin after face wash. Massage your face with a cleanserfor atleast sixty seconds.
2. Use a light moisturiser – Apply a gel-based moisturiser at least 30 minutes before using a face mask. This light moisturiser will reduce the friction on skin. Choose ingredients like Sandalwood oil, Avocado and Aloe Vera which are cooling in nature and light on skin as well. Use this moisturiser after using a facial cleanser. For oily skin, a moisturiser with antiseptic benefits is a must. These ingredients will help hydratinf skinand balancing the skin’s oil production.
3. Avoid makeup under the mask – Manhattan based dermatologist, Dr. Hadley King suggests not using makeup on the entire face. One may resort to eye makeup like kohl, eye liners and mascara. Foundations and heavy concealers are made up of harmful chemicals like silicones and petrochemicals. These ingredients react with skin due to increased humidity under the mask which could affect sebum production and eventually causing breakouts and acne problems.
4. Do not skip Toner – After washing face with facial cleanser, use an alcohol-free toner on skin. Toners help to minimize pores and maintain the pH balance of skin. Some ingredients such as Rose and Cucumber help in calming irritation on skin. Allow your skin to absorb the toner naturally. Apply a light moisturiser after after toning. Avoid application of astringents on skin as this would cause excess drying and irritation.
5. Exfoliate  – You may use a gentle scrub on face at least once in a week. Exfoliators help in removing dead skin, blackheads and whiteheads. Exfoliation helps in cleansing pores and minimising the risk of bacterial growth. Use a scrub for at least 6 to 7 minutes with gentle massage either in upward direction or circular motion. Ingredients like rock salt, turmeric and apricots are great for exfoliation purpose. Make sure that the scrub has mild granules that doesn’t harm skin.

COVID - Condition Of Viral Infectious Delusions
Sitting at home during the COVID lockdown having nothing to do can be quite challenging. Those were the days when we were literally afraid of stepping out.
We were regularly bombarded with a ton of information (useful and useless) via the newspapers, TV news, and the social media each claiming in their own way that the end of the world was near… well, almost near.
No one exactly knew how to cope with this pandemic. Most people, however, were debating as to whether this COVID was natural or man made, an accident or a conspiracy gone wrong. But, what was beyond debate was the tragic loss of lives. The number of lives lost all over the world was catastrophic.
Human nature is such that it strives to see the funny side of life. It seeks comic elements in the throes of despair. No wonder – ‘life lives in spite of death and to spite death’.
Those were the days when my mind would wander and my imagination would flounder (if that is even possible). I began to think more about bacteria, viruses, and the micro-world. My imagination was working overtime. I began to imagine what would be going on in their netherworld, and I fell asleep…zzzzz…
000-000-000
“Good morning, India! And welcome to the SOS News. My name is Carena Vidis. Today, we bring you the latest on Carona Virus.
The corona virus pandemic has been, so far, winning the battle. In fact, it has taken the entire world to ransom. We’re forced to give it the royal treatment it has been demanding.
It’s the Trojan Horse we didn’t know, that entered our body, until it was too late. And, these tiny warriors have found and opened the chinks in our armour for others to enter and play COVID with our immunity.
We were too lazy, and drunk with our own infallibility, like the City of Troy. However, we have escalated the war against this unseen enemy and hopefully, unlike Troy, we shall win”.
Miss Carena Vidis presses a key and a song comes on…
We shall win no matter what
Never ever say we shall not
It is in our mind and our heart
We look cute but are so smart
We shall win no matter what
The fun nights are about to start
After a long fight I'll have a tart
Fighting with germs is a rare art
I’ll sleep after I tear them apart
We shall win no matter what...
Suddenly, the song is interrupted by a flashing sign…
Breaking News!
“It’s not as if we humans are the only ones saddled with this pandemic, news is trickling in that there are problems in the germ world too”.
Deep in the netherworld of microscopic pathogens; the home of bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms, things were not looking good. Even acute life threatening agents like Cancer, Hanta Virus, Ebola, AIDS etc., were beginning to feel jittery of the new kid on the block.
“Our reporter says…
An emergency meeting was called for and held at the highly secured, fortress like, headquarters of ‘Free The World From Humans’ party.
Cancy Onco, from the Cancer faction and General Secretary of the party, spoke at length about the new threat to their hegemony. The party has a presence in every country and, therefore, it is important to know what transpired in the meeting with regard to recent cataclysmic developments.
Mr Onco, in his opening address, opined that they should all remain united despite the factions in the core committee. He also spoke about the long haul that lay ahead. He requested all factions to bury the hatchet and join their RNAs and proteins to fight the new imposter who was threatening to take over the microbe world.
Onco advised all party members to tune in to the macro world to understand the gravity of the problem facing them. He said the humans were panic-stricken and locked themselves in their houses. Nobody was taking liberties; they also adopted a strict regimen of hygiene and cleanliness. That, according to him, was bad business for the microbe world”.
“We thrive in filth, and the recent focus on purchase of hand sanitizers and house cleaning liquids by humans is driving us out of business”. “We can’t allow that to happen”, he stressed with authority.
Miss Carena Vidis, “We provide you with further specific details received just now through our mole, Mr Gene Marburg, and we believe they are authentic.
Here is rest of the transcript of the meeting…”
Gun Chigun, from the Chikungunya faction, “Sh-t, where did this guy come from, how dare he usurp our territory?”
Jon Den, Dengue faction, “Oh, he jumped parole and hitchhiked from Wuhan”.
“How come, we didn’t know of this dude before”, asked Miss Mos Anophelia of the the Malaria(India) faction. “ Was our intelligence compromised?”
Mr Onco, “No, this guy is adept at disguises, first he appeared as SAARS, then as MERS and now as Carona or COVID.”
There was a collective gasp before an uneasy silence took over. All the members looked visibly shaken.
“How do we deal with this jerk, can’t we send some sharpshooters, maybe snipers, to liquidate this scumbag?” volunteered a confident looking Tubercool Rao of the Tuberculosis(India) faction, also a senior party member.
“No!” said Mr Onco, “Like I said before, he is good at disguises. Our intelligence says that he has many duplicates, as well. He also has access to 1200 WMDs, Protein Bombs, that could destroy the microbe world. So, one mistake could lead to a microbe world war, and we can’t afford that.”
Hiv Aiden, of the AIDS faction and President, “Mr Onco is spot on, we’re hiding with great difficulty from the humans. We must not give away our hideout, even if we have to bear the pain of drugs and chemicals dumped on us”.
Mr Onco’s heart surged with pride as he remarked, “In addition, people from my faction also have to bear the ignominy of Chemo and Radiation. It’s not something for the weak hearted”. He never lost an opportunity to inform the committee of the sacrifices they had made.
“The way the humans are seized with a fear psychosis, I fear they could do something covidiotic and direct their war against us instead of this duffer”; said an enfeebled Scrach Luper representing the almost defunct Leprosy faction.
It was a genuine concern and the old Luper knew a lot more about human behaviour. He was also a highly frustrated relic from the middle ages. He never forgot the fact that if it hadn’t been for a certain Jesus Christ, his faction would have been all powerful and he could have been elected the party general secretary. Now, all his supporters do is scratch.
The atmosphere in the hall was filled with trepidation, but there was also an eerie silence. All the members were lost in their own thoughts. After an eternity of self-introspection, someone dared to speak.
Histos Enteb, head of the ‘Bloody’ Diarrhoea faction and reeking of stale blood croaked, “Why can’t we wait in ambush until this douchebag enters the human body, and then attack him from all fronts?”
Mr Onco, displaying his great knowledge and capabilities, which was one of the reasons why he was successful in clinging to the all-important post, negated the suggestion “Mr RNA Covid, I believe that is his real name, has trained his followers to enter the nasal passage and immediately occupy the lungs.
There, they sit in hiding and multiply and build up an army before they are ready to strike. By the time we realise, it’s too late for us to besiege his bastion. All we can do is sit and pray, this guy can infect humans at an alarming rate”.
Clostros Bots, Vice President FTWFH and also Gen. Secretary of ‘Anti Human Party’ and belonging to the Botulism faction, is a ‘bacter’ who loves isolation and solitude. He seldom speaks, unless there is something worth speaking about. He had been observing the proceedings with a sense of detachment only he could summon. At last he spoke.
“Why do we have to fight this guy and his legion of followers?” He said. “Really, we don’t need to. The humans are doing a good enough job. They are using up all their resources in their war against this Covid bloke. It looks like they’ll succeed in the long run. That’s good for us too, in the meantime, we can lie low and continue to add to our stockpile of weapons.
We also need to develop a reliable defence against the Protein Bomb. After the battle drags on for a year or two, both the parties will be weak and lacking in resources. That will be the time for us to grab the situation to our advantage. If this guy is smart, as I think he is, he will surrender and forced to join our party. Additionally, we can dangle a carrot for him to take the bait, we can offer him the post of Party Spokesgerm”.
“In my opinion, it is good for our business to have him on our side rather than have him working against us”. Saying this, Clostros Bots took a deep breath and slowly sat down in his aluminium can.
The entire committee was struck by the simplicity and clarity of thought. They were wondering why it didn’t occur to them before.
Cancy Onco sprang to the dais and without further ado seconded the proposal. “Has anyone any objections to this brilliant idea?” he roared. All the members stood up in unison and kept on applauding. Cancy Onco took that as a unanimous approval and the motion was passed 121 to nil.
The satellite link from Gene Marburg was lost as he quietly and surreptitiously slithered away from his vantage position moving out with a sense of pride that was not misplaced. He had done his job, now, it was left for us humans to take the war to the nether world of microbes. However, first we had to deal with the immediate job on hand - COVID 19.
Miss Carena Vidis was back on the screen, her face radiant as the morning Sun. She knew it was one of the most important scoops of her ten year career, and she was working non-stop for the last 14 days to get this scoop, if everything went right, she could get a substantial raise.
“This is the SOS News, this was an exclusive scoop we brought to you. Please stay tuned for further updates… and now, the headlines…”
As she was reading out the headlines, she felt a tightness in her throat that wasn’t there a few moments ago. The itching in her throat too was growing… and then, came the first of many coughs. All at once, pandemonium broke loose.
000-000-000
In the pandemonium, I could discern a continuous beeping sound, it kept growing like the horn of a car approaching me. I was groping in the dark to locate the source of the sound, which was now more like ringing. I found something, the ringing stopped. I feebly opened my eyes, my hand was holding a table clock and my forefinger on the alarm off button.

long live the good samaritans, god save the samaritans
12/5/2021

With my father in hospital for a few days the doctor suggested that we go for plasma treatment. For a disease or virus that is still largely unknown, there are these eXperts, and there are these methods of treatment. A lot of it is just trying out things, that make sense to that particular eXpert. Somehow, in just over a year we have covid experts. Experts who not just have the pressure of having to deal with so much of the unknowns of the virus at hand, but also to play the role of the eXpert. Because we need to know. At every point, it seems there are things that we just know. And then one after another things that we know gets obviously disproven.
The amount of information that Indians seem to know of about corona is astonishing. OXymeters have really become household thingies, and people all seem to understand what SPO2 percentages mean. When you can’t trust the state to take care, you have to take charge of it yourself. So the headlines and discussions are revolving around specific medicine shortages, around treatment plans, and this is true for the general discourse also.
A lot of coverage in the media, is also revolving around the heroes of this fight against corona. This is true not just for domestic media, but I have realised is true for international media coverage of the situation in India as well. Of all these people who are out there doing good. You will commonly find messages, about home food tiffin deliveries for covid patients. So when I searched for plasma sourcing, of course there was a plethora of websites, groups, that popped up. Some of my friends figured out telegram and whatsapp groups that were helping people find plasma and other necessities.
And so began the hunt. The first few phone calls to some of the blood banks listed in some of these support sites, didn’t deal with this at all. They just didn’t even do plasma eXtraction thingy. Contacting friends there were few prospective donors that emerged over the neXt few hours. The next morning the dozens or so sites where I had left a request for plasma started calling back. And re confirming I needed the same, blood group, hospital, so on. A particularly enthusiastic donor was contacted through one of the groups. Another advantage was that he was very close to the blood bank where the process had to be done. So I requested him to head over there, and sent him a copy of the requisition from my father’s hospital. There was a requisition that was already made last evening, but when I asked the duty nurse of the ward, she asked me to wait, and made me another one, with of course a test tube of papa’s blood. And then I got the one that was made the previous evening, with another test tube of his blood of course.
The system wasn’t very clear, and the nurse was telling me the process, since I wanted to arrange the plasma myself. I didn’t want to do it! but it seemed to me that there was no option! Anyway, by the time I reached the blood bank, I had around 10 missed calls from different people including the donor I had requested to head towards there. Most of these calls were from people giving me leads, or reconfirming my requirements. On telling them that I was already reaching this blood bank to check the availability there, the question was almost always as to if I needed plasma or not. And of course I did, and there was nothing certain at teh bank I was in.
Another person told me that some plasma had been booked and blocked for me at another blood bank. But I needed to decide soon, so that if not needed then the plasma could be released for someone else. I had NOT asked for the plasma to be blocked. I told this person my situation, that I had just arrived to this hospital’s blood bank and that they would need to check the sample and cross match it with their availability or figure out if they could give me the required sample.
I gave in the sample for processing and the same would take over an hour or so. Through this hour, there were several others who called me offering me for donating, that there is plasma availability here or there or something, and of course that guy who had blocked it out for me at this other hospital. I needed to decide and decide soon, because otherwise what if other people need them. But how in the world am I supposed to make that decision. I had no sense of how critically this other patient needed it, or even if there was such a patient needing the same.
And I was supposed to make this decision?
On what should I make that decision…
should I toss and see?
How critically was the plasma needed?
for my father?
or for this abstracted notion of a patient…
And meanwhile my really helpful and generous donor in his enthusiasm was calling and updating me every 2 minutes. He was now waiting after having given a sample to check the haemoglobin and so on. Because the situation was seemingly so dire, I had of course contacted many lists, many websites, and all those calls were coming in, checking in with me as to if i still needed plasma. Of course I did, what if the cross matching that has to happen didn’t work out in this blood bank.
I was trying to be as honest about the situation as possible, but it was only annoying a few ppl. They were getting confused as to if I needed or not. Some others were more understanding. But of course all of them wanted to help.
After about two hours or so of doing this, and really being on the edge of the seat, and feeling under immense pressure to make a decision if the plasma that had been blocked in the other hospital was needed or not, they finally told me that the cross matching had happened and it worked out. Phew. So before asking them to release the plasma from the other place, I just wanted to check once more with the administrator at this blood bank. She was like wait for a bit more, because there’s still no clarity on the amount of plasma that could be given.
tick tock. tick tock. tick tock.
One blood bank guy called me and told me that he had found some more plasma at some other place. And I told him that we already have cross matched here and so on. His suggestion was to get as much plasma from as many places as possible. Because one never knows. And then later it could be returned back to his bank, so that it’s not wasted also. And I was like, really?
Another set of calls that came in, would start inquiring me about the situation at the blood bank I was in, and of course I would try and help them and give them the info I could. But finally after all of this, they gave me the required amount of plasma. And message was passed on to all of them that were holding on for us. The sense of relief was manifolds, because all the plasma could go on to other people, and we were not blocking it out for other people.
Of course the last guy who had asked me to collect as much plasma as possible, was like ‘but what if more plasma is needed later’. And then we will see then, is all I could think.
Rushing back to the hospital with the plasma, was such a sense of relief. It felt like that was the aim, that that was the ends, whereas it was just the means. Each of these tasks becoming a herculean task also makes you myopic to just focus on them. And at the end of the day, you are dead tired and then thinking what will you have to do neXt.
As I was reaching back home later that evening, and really tired ready to crash out. I noticed a number of missed calls I had got while I was riding back. I was pretty sure that these were all donors, or well wishers whom I could simply tell the situation finally, and thank them. As it turned out, the good samaritan groups, somehow my number had been swapped to a blood bank’s number. Maybe it was because I had helped out some such queries while I was at the blood bank. But it took me straight to the day before, when I had started calling on the list of blood bank numbers, in many of these groups, most of which didn’t even deal with corona plasma thingy.
Some phone calls have continued to come in. One in fact came in right now. It is not so many and not so annoying, but each of the calls is just heart breaking. People looking for plasma for their loved ones. And in desperation calling any number that is given to them. And the process goes on.
Am really grateful that there were people were around to help me and others like me. That these networks have emerged. I was chatting to a friend, who is in delhi who was talking about the same thing - about how there have been so many people who have risen to the occasion, and it is on them that things are still running a bit. And of course we love to celebrate these narratives.
Reminds me of the annual Bombay flood. I was stuck in the great one in 2006, (or was it 2005) and I remember the celebration of the great bombay spirit. We love to do these every year. Of people who would distribute food, of people who will give shelter. But why don’t we work towards a system which is capable of dealing with it in the first place.
Why is it okay for the whole medical infrastructure to basically rely on all these people doing volunteer work of all these people. The Maharashtra CM correctly pointed out that we are relying on infrastructure built by nehru. But why hasn’t more been done.
I got a call the day before at 2 in the night, of a person looking for plasma. I apologised to this person that they had gotten a wrong number. And they were apologetic of course. But why is it okay for this to be on benevolence of others. And each of us feeling the need to be obliged to the good samaritans. When the state can not be relied upon we build these networks ourselves. And it’s a pity, and a joke when you then talk about the great Indian spirit. It’s not because we are generous, but because we have no option.
I wonder if this model good samaritan is so different than the model moral vigilante.

I was the fortunate plasma recipient, and am indebted to the Good Samaritan, the donor. The panic, the confusion during the second wave is very well expressed by Ujjwal.

The word “sexually transmitted” is preventing people from taking the vaccine.
In India Cervical Cancer kills 1 woman every 8 minutes
In India Cervical Cancer is the 3rd most common cancer affecting both males and females. Around 53 million Indian women aged 13 years and above are at risk of developing cervical cancer yet the percentage of vaccination per year is not increasing.
Cervical Cancer is caused by the HPV virus, the human papillomavirus. This virus is only transmitted sexually. In a country like India where sex is taboo, it’s difficult for parents to accept that their children could be sexually active before marriage. This is one of the main reasons that the vast population below the age of 26 is unvaccinated. The HPV vaccine is most effective when administered between the age of 9 and 15.
There is a lot of misunderstanding regarding the virus and the vaccination. Many believe that their children would become more curious about sex or indulge in sexual activity after being vaccinated which is absolutely false. Some are of the opinion that if a person is monogamous (has only one sexual partner) they will not contact the virus which is again not true. The virus can infect anyone.
The vaccination is not recommended after the age of 40 since research indicates that most people have already been exposed to the HPV virus at least once in their life span and have developed antibodies.
Contacting the virus does not always lead to cancer. Usually, the human immune system fights back and with the help of medication the virus dies out. It is when the virus does not leave the body or even after symptoms subside a small amount of virus still lingers on in the body this causes the cells that line the cervix mouth and throat, anus, penis, vulva, or vagina to grow abnormally, these are called pre-cancerous cells. If these cells are not killed, they will continue to become cancer.
The HPV virus infects both boys and girls, men and women therefore it is equally important to vaccinate both girls are boys.
A large part of Indian society is unaware of this virus and the need to vaccinate against it. In fact cervical cancer can be largely prevented and the number of deaths can be decreased drastically with the help of the vaccine.
Today India has 3 vaccines - Cervarix, Gardasil and the latest Gardasil 9. Serum institute of India is already making its own vaccine Cervavac which has got approval from the government and will be commercially available by the year-end. Cervavac will be priced at a much lower rate and the medical fraternity is hopeful that this will lead to a decrease in cancer caused by the HPV virus.
The need of the hour is more awareness and acceptance that physical intimacy is part of human existence. By ignoring or choosing to disregard this fact we are only putting our younger generation at risk of developing cancer.
2 doses spaced out with a gap of 6 months between the age of 9 to 14 years and 3 doses spaced out between the age of  15 to 26 years can save individuals from cancer.
Schools, colleges, and community centers need to accept this as their duty to spread awareness and organize vaccination camps. With more doctors recommending and informing patients about the effects of the HPV virus, the country hopes to see a fall in the number of cases.

The story is based on true events and on very important people, which makes Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri draw in a prominent star cast for the characters and has kept them a secret.
India, just like the rest of the world has undergone trauma in the last two years when the Pandemic hit the country to the core. Several Indian scientists and doctors gave their sweat and blood to make sure that the patients are treated and a vaccine is made. While people were busy celebrating the conquest over corona,
A few agencies, parties and media houses were constantly working towards defaming the win we had achieved. Since then, Vivek Agnihotri has been fighting against those naxels, and has been exposing them. Microbiology Courses
After your 12th grade year, do you intend to take a microbiology course? If so, you should learn everything there is to know about microbiology, colleges, tuition, and job prospects after this course.
Microbiology Courses After 12th: Overview
Depending on the degree level, this program's duration changes after the 12th grade. A UG degree in microbiology takes three years to complete.
After graduating from high school, a postgraduate microbiology course lasts typically two years, but some colleges also offer a three-year postgraduate (Master's) degree in medicine.
A Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Microbiology would be the best choice for you if you have already earned your BSc and MSc and wish to pursue a higher degree, as there is a great need for microbiologists in India's research and development sector. A doctorate in microbiology takes three to five years to complete.
We have covered every aspect of microbiology studies after high school, including career prospects, colleges, tuition costs, and salaries. To learn more, keep reading this article.
What is Microbiology?
The study of microscopic living things like bacteria, fungus, and viruses is known as microbiology.
It is a branch of biology and is further subdivided into virology, immunology, bacteriology, nematology, parasitology, and many more fields of study. Speaking of the study of microbiology, this field of science requires a basic comprehension of how cells work as well as the structure of each and every subcellular component. One must complete their 10+2 higher secondary education, with Biology as a required subject, in order to become a microbiologist. After finishing high school, one may choose to enroll in a BSc. course in microbiology. Undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels of these courses are all available, however in order to enroll in a microbiology course, a student must meet all eligibility requirements.
Who is a Microbiologist?
A scientist that examines the traits of microorganisms including bacteria, algae, and fungi is known as a microbiologist.
They typically concentrate on learning about the characteristics of organisms that are more likely to cause disease, have an effect on the environment, or have connections to commercial or agricultural interests.
Microbiologists also investigate the pathogens' non-living mechanisms. They carry out their daily activities using cutting-edge microscopes and other complex equipment.
What does a Microbiologist do?
Because of the Corona-Outbreak brought on by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, we now fully understand how a tiny germ can devastate the global healthcare infrastructure.
Health experts, scientists, and microbiologists were the ones who studied and tried to comprehend the structure, mechanism, and other characteristics of this virus while the entire world was suffering in order to develop a cure or at least a vaccine. In the fight against the Coronavirus, they are the unsung heroes.
This complete scenario from today provides you with an outline of what a microbiologist performs. If you're still unclear about a microbiologist's duties and obligations.
Just read the points below and you’ll catch up on everything you want to know about what does a Microbiologist do?
Plan and rehearse difficult operations, including developing new medications to treat an illness brought on by a bacterium.
Determine, distinguish, and categorize the microorganisms present in samples taken from living things, water, food, or any other source.
Analyze the microorganism's growth and keep an eye on how it affects people, plants, animals, food, and the environment.
Create an environment where the microbes can thrive and be used for future research by isolating them and preserving them.
Follow the results and most recent advancements achieved by other research teams.
creating technical reports, academic papers, and suggestions in accordance with their study findings.
guiding additional biology students and assessing the veracity of their findings.
Microbiology Course Certificatification After 12th
The majority of foreign colleges offer certificate programs in microbiology online. More and more people are choosing to enroll in online Certificate programs in microbiology since the trend of online and remote education began to gain traction.
These kinds of programs are appropriate for students who don't want to enroll in a full-time program because of time, financial, or family commitments. Online certificate programs can range in length from a few hours to several months.
This course is also appropriate for students planning to enroll in short-term courses after their senior year of high school.
You can always enroll in a certification program to further your education, which usually aids in better understanding the various facets of microbiology and offers you an advantage over other applicants when you go to a job interview.
Anyone can enroll in a Certificate Microbiology course after high school, regardless of their 10+2 stream.

Covid-19 Antibody Test - How it Works And What it Means?
The most puzzling thing about Coronavirus is that it affects folks differently. Sometimes, you exhibit symptoms, whereas other times, you don't need to any symptoms at all. Therefore, Corona Antibody Testing in India is the best way possible to learn whether you'd past experience the coronavirus or otherwise not. There are 2 types of tests that will check if you've got developed antibodies contrary to the virus or otherwise not. One is really a laboratory test, which requires professionally trained healthcare to draw a blood sample in the patient, which can be then shipped to a lab to draw in the inference. you can find out more is applying COVID-19 Antibody Test Kit Near Me, which is a finger-prick blood test that will be taken at home. So, if you're still wondering in the event the vaccine has worked for you or otherwise not? Do you've got covid-19 antibodies to tackle it the next time? First, consider how covid-antibodies work and why you need to go ahead and take IgG Antibody Test for COVID. What are antibodies? When SARS-CoV-2 enters our bodies, your body's defense mechanisms creates antibodies that really help fight the herpes simplex virus. However, these antibodies have become specific for their intended target, and therefore antibodies utilized to fight one virus cannot protect the body from another. In other words, if you've got chickenpox, your antibodies will develop the antibodies for chickenpox, but chickenpox antibodies cannot protect you from the covid-19 virus. The coronavirus antibody test doesn't search for the herpes simplex virus itself. Instead, it checks whether your immune system-your body's defense system from the disease-has responded effectively up against the infection. How does the Covid-19 antibody test work? Of the key five forms of antibodies, a Covid-19 antibody test looks for two immunoglobulins, M (IgM) and (IgG). IgG antibodies will be the most popular kind of antibodies within our blood. They play a significant part in conferring immunity to bacteria or viruses. After the first experience of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, IgM and IgG antibodies are usually produced between two and three weeks. However, it's not at all yet known just how long these antibodies continue in the blood. Corona Antibody Testing in India helps with learning in the event the body is promoting antibodies you aren't. A positive result may indicate that certain might have antibodies from your previous infection. You may even test positive if you've never exhibited coronavirus symptoms as a result of asymptomatic infection. Sometimes, an individual can test positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies once they have no particular antibodies. This is known as false positive. However, an adverse result points too anyone hasn't been around the coronavirus. And even should you be, the testing timing was too early in your case to produce antibodies or below how much antibodies test's limit of detection. Typically, your body takes one to three weeks after infection to produce antibodies. Types of Covid-19 Antibody Tests as well as their Accuracy There are two types of Corona Antibody Testing in India to determine if someone has evolved antibodies against the herpes simplex virus. Spike Protein IgG Antibody Test IgG Antibody Test for COVID detects IgG antibodies that develop each time a person has gotten a vaccination or has been have contracted the Covid-19 virus. This test confirms that anyone has developed antibodies to guard him/her from obtaining a severe covid infection. Spike Protein IgM Antibody Test IgM Antibody can persist in humans for weeks to months following infection. These antibodies' persistence is apparently shorter than IgG. When an IgM antibody is detected, it suggests a relatively recent infection. Corona Antibody Testing in India has extremely high sensitivity and specificity. In addition, they exhibit high accuracy and expected predictive values when administered at the very least 3 weeks following a start of illness or vaccination. Does Positive Result Signify You are Immune To Virus? This is really a fundamental question that most researchers are searhing for. In some diseases, the presence of antibodies signifies that you are immune or protected against future infection. That implies that your body has recognized herpes and may fight chlamydia if the virus enters the body again. Vaccines comprise weakened or inactive areas of the pathogen. Vaccines assist in the process of building immunity and also the generation of antibodies. Covid-19 antibody tests or serology tests are accustomed to determine the IgG and IgM proteins manufactured by the disease fighting capability. The test helps detect in the event the body stood a past infection with COVID-19 and the body is promoting defensive antibodies in place. Coronavirus antibody tests indicate if you've got developed antibodies after getting a vaccine or from past infection. But sometimes, the immunity can fade over time. In addition, a survey remains starting with find if the antibodies on the coronavirus might shield you from a far more severe case of Covid-19. Therefore, even if you've got antibodies to Covid-19, you ought to still follow all precautions.
