then like, how does shrignolds ''lesson'' work cuz his whole deal was making yellow become part of his cult is human au shrig trying to recruit a five year old im sorry i just want like a long detailed post w all the lessons and how they would change in the human au if you are willing to do one i mean
sketchbook’s lesson: art lesson (of course) in which class goes fairly normally until they “accidentally” pour black paint all over yellow’s painting of a clown then leave to go to the bathroom and return to see the students have laid waste to the classroom. glitter everywhere ink smeared all over the desks etc. art lessons are canceled for two weeks
tony’s lesson: a math lesson on telling time in which he refuses to answer any of the student’s questions and when the lesson devolves tony gets into talking about death and decay and half the students immediately start crying
shrignold’s lesson: one day during recess yellow ran away crying bc he was excluded from playing kickball so shrignold came over to comfort him and invites him to come to sunday school in a few days a place where nobody will exclude him ever again :)
colin’s lesson: during the monthly computer lab he is Always walking around behind the students to make sure they’re on the right websites. nothing bad happens to yellow because he’s always on the right websites
steak, spinach can, and bread boy’s lesson: every day during lunch they all remind kids what’s the healthiest thing on the menu today except they all contradict each other
larry’s lesson: yellow stays up during naptime once and larry loudly tells him horror stories about kids who stayed up when they were supposed to be sleeping until yellow cries
briefcase’s lesson: the principal. one day he calls an assembly to encourage students to follow their dreams and calls up students including yellow to come talk about what they wanna do when they grow up
coffin’s lesson: duck puts a personal ad in the newspaper and the newspaper misprints it and puts the ad in the obituary. duck sees this finds it hysterical and pretends to be dead for the rest of the day even going up to speak to a funeral director about making funeral arrangements. coffin is the funeral director
lily and todney’s lesson: yellow comes to their house for a play date and they have an EXTREMELY elaborate game of house in which yellow is the mother and eventually forced into ordering them all dinner. roy eventually comes and picks him up
warren’s lesson: he’s a guest speaker who gives an antibullying seminar for an assembly. he decides a good way to show the antibullying skills he’s taught is by going to recess and playing sports with the students a la brain friends sequence
choo-choo’s lesson: he’s the bus driver and gives yellow weird advice every time he gets on or off the bus. and yellow goes about the rest of his day with the weird advice in the back of his head
electracy’s lesson: she’s an electrician who shows up when a blackout happens and the students are Mystified by what a blackout is so she takes it upon herself to explain how electricity works. except she doesn’t actually explain anything and then leaves after fixing the lights

Turnabout is fair play!! So tell me about Wyyyyyyyyynnnn~ She's a grave cleric last I heard? Does she have a god? What's her magic feel like?
HEHEHE thank you Milo! <3
And yes, Wyn IS a grave cleric still! Well...sort of. She's like a grave cleric if you made a grave cleric like a warlock. She sort of, uh. resurrected her brother by reaching out to a god (??) of death and offered up part of her own life to bring him back. (And then he came back wrong, and then he wasn't really even her brother anymore, and then he ended up dead a year later anyway, so it was not really a great deal to make in the end. WHOOPS.)
Her current iteration is in a Curse of Strahd game and my DM hasn't had much need for info about whatever entity brought her brother back, so I've been sitting on a homebrew idea for a god (??) that I'll suggest if it ever become relevant. I'm thinking they'll be the Laborer of the Kindly Death, and their tenants will probably revolve around the work it takes to ensure a good death, or at least the best death possible. I'm thinking they'll appear as a common gravekeeper, dour and unkempt but kindly, carrying a shovel coated in grave dirt. I'm thinking their symbology includes spades, mushrooms, moths - you know, a sweeping autumnal theme. And I'm thinking Wyn will subscribe heavily to this after seeing her brother waste away like he did in that last year. She doesn't blame the thing that brought him back after all, not entirely. They told her what the cost would be. They told her what it could mean. She agreed to it. Now she knows that there's work to be done to make a death good, and she's committed herself to helping other people do it so that no one makes the same mistake that she and brother did.
WHICH IS TO SAY, she's a very tragic gal, and her magic reflects that LMAO. She specializes in healing, but it tends to feel a bit draining to both her and the receiver, and feels less like a warmth and more like a numbing while she works. Which, for some things, can be a blessing! But it's not entirely comfortable. Her offensive magics are also often very chill, and tend to be more on the rot-and-ruin spectrum of things. She uses the mushrooms that grow on her horns and tail (a mark from her god) in a LOT of her casting, which her magic responds to by feeling very damp and decaying. Sad wet rat energy for sure LMAO. Except when she gets mad. Her hellish rebuke lives up to its name, because somewhere under the poise and the hard-won ideals, girl is mad as hell at a lot of things.
You wouldn't know, though. Look how sweet she looks! Totally innocent. :>

I have a sincere question. I heard someone say Viktor is disabled in LoL. I feel this is untrue. Can you confirm or deny this?
That is definitely not canon. Arcane was the *first* Riot property to ever depict Viktor as disabled, and that's not without some considerable drawbacks. (Such as: knowing he could very easily fall into the 'magically curing your disability/deleting it out of yourself' ableist trope, new/casual TV show fans seeing him as positive representation while unaware that his ultimate future ideals Suck and frankly need to be viewed with a critical lens, etc etc...)
It's a very new concept which brings into question things such as agency & nuance & the continued portrayal of villains with some disability or disfigurement (as well as a deeply negative outlook on those things), not to speak of the eugenics slippery slope. The issue at hand is that Viktor's original concepts did not play into these tropes, unless it was fanmade stuff. I read his champion archetype to be much more tied to the cycles of industrialization/ exploitation /dehumanizing capitalism, while Arcane Viktor has very little to say about any of these things.
To put it more simply: League Viktor augments himself as a choice, to prove a point and present his creation; something no one could ever take credit for, because it is literally his own self. Arcane Viktor is forced to augment himself under the threat of impending death and a decaying body, via a darkmagic macguffin. Those are fundamental differences.
Riot doesn't have a good track record when it comes to sensitive topics and if I'm being perfectly honest with you I don't expect the argument borne out of Arcane season 2 to be... good... its likely to be very centrist and cartoonish in an effort to wrap up S1 storylines, and that means weird takes, bootlicking, and "Rich People Have Feelings Too".
League Viktor certainly has had fanwork interpreting him as disabled before; though back then it was a consequence of self-amputation, limb replacement, lab accidents, and the works. I can see how his staff and in-game gait brought those things to mind, and even knowing that Arcane can never un-exist, I'm happy that some people felt really seen and identified with an openly disabled Viktor being on the TV show. I think you could still write that well - if you gave a shit - which is not something I trust the company to do when they've already deleted most of his outside life/character motivation and made it singularly focused on a killing chronic illness to be 'solved'. The main character involved in scamming Viktor out of his work was even included in the TV show, but for some reason they decided to make him a long dead (and very nice and wholesome) professor instead, which just seems like proof of wasted character development to me.
^You'll see a lot of people who prefer to keep iterations of his character wholly separate for all the above reasons, some who rewrite his hollywood sickness to be a lot closer to a real condition, some who give league viktor different kinds of disability still.
You just have to remember they're different characters.

Happily Never Afters
This is a little list of characters and information I came up with for a new... Story? X Reader Series? Idk. I just came up with them and liked them. I will update this as I come up with more characters. For the sake of this not taking up a large portion of the screen, I will put all info, including basic details, under the read more. Trigger warnings will be above it, however, just so people don't stumble upon things that might disturb or trigger them.
TW: Murder, Death/Decay, Disease, Body Horror(?), Curses, Obsessive/Possessive Behaviors, Stalking
Basic Info: I kinda wanted to practice writing more fantastical horror and horror romance ( would that be called dark romance? Idk). So, the basic premise is that these are fairy tales that are switched up, with none ending happily due to those changes, hence the cliche name for the series. I don't really see it as a series that has an overarching plotline, either. Just a bunch of scenarios. Small things will be changed around, too, just because I am interested in the ways that those things can change the plot. Examples of those could be the classic "evil stepmother" now being an "evil stepfather" or a character now having a sibling when they didn't beforehand. The intention of this is to both practice writing and to entertain others, lol. So, there may be weird scenarios, scenarios being written over again with alternative endings, and other such things. If anybody is interested in requesting stuff for certain characters, be it scenarios, headcanons (well, idk if it would be called that due to me being the person creating it, but anyways...), or anything else, they are welcome! Especially since you all may have ideas that I would've never been able to come up with.
With basic info out of the way, onto the characters!
SNOW WHITE characters:
Snow White/Gertrude - She's Snow White. The evil queen tried to have her killed by a huntsman, of course. However, her twin brother, Walter, overheard the plan and convinced Gertrude to let him go in her stead, dressed as her. She didn't believe the plan was true, until news came that Walter was killed, with his heart missing. This caused her to run into the woods, meet the dwarves, and to live with them. Soon, the animals and crops near the little cottage started to die, and she had the feeling that she was being watched. When the evil queen came to give her the apple, disguised as an old lady, Gertrude was desperate and hungry enough to take it and eat it. The curse in this version was not a curse of sleep, but instead, a curse of living dead. She is... Dead, but she is alive. She walks around, and on a first glance, she looks alive, but sickly due to her pale skin. Once you take a closer look, however, you'll see how her eyes are pale and glassy, how her lips look slightly purple of black. She doesn't decay, but the things around her do in their own way. While only edible, crop plants like corn, lettuce, and carrots tend to perish, animals of most every kind die away from disease. The telltale sign of Gertrude's presence, as well as Walter's, is chronic wasting disease in the deer populations near them. Gertrude only became known as Snow White after the curse befell her. True love's kiss would still free her from the spell but... Who would want to kiss an undead woman.
Walter - Walter is Gertrude's twin brother. He also has the nickname of Snow White, with people in nearby villages and towns arguing over whether Gertrude or Walter is the real Snow White. He overheard the queen's plan to have the huntsman kill his sister, so he went in her stead, knowing that a simple change of clothes and lack of speech could possibly trick him. They have always looked uncannily similar, after all. While he was in the afterlife, standing next to his own corpse as a ghost, a fairy godmother came to him. She offered him a chance to save Gertrude from the queen's next trick and to bring him to life. The catch was, he would be under the same curse as the one that the queen would cast on her. If he saves Gertrude in time, the curse would be lifted from him and he could go to the afterlife, and if not, he would never die and the curse shall never go away, not even with true love's kiss. After accepting, he tried to get into contact with his sister, only to fail because of his ghoulish appearance and the disturbing deaths of all the animals around him scaring her away. Once the curse was placed on her, he began to dedicate his undead life to finding her true love. In his eyes, if he can never die or find happiness, he might as well find a way for his sister to do so. He loves her too much to let her suffer.
The Dwarves ran off once Gertrude was cursed, afraid of what she has become and convinced that she would hurt them. Due to this, the twins now live in the cottage alone, trying to live as normal of a life as they can. They can't feel pain, instead feeling uncomfortable, but painless sensations. Random, tickling feelings like insects crawling on them to sudden bouts of heat or cold. Another side effect of the curse is feeling overly strong emotions. Sadness is the main one, due to their predicament, but anger, happiness, and love are also stronger and more intense than before.
CINDERELLA characters:
Cinderella/Ella: Her name is simply Ella. The parts with her working for her evil stepparent and stepsisters are the same, except for the fact that her stepmother is now a stepfather, that is well-known by the nobility due to his growing company. When it comes to the ball, her fairy godmother gives her a different spell than the simple "go to the ball, and at midnight, your clothes will turn back into rags". Instead, the spell is that she needs to go to the ball and dance with the prince, or else at midnight, the magic pumpkin flowers she used to repair Ella's dress will grow around her and drag her back to the wild pumpkin patch they came from. Ella accepts, not seeing the true weight of the downside. When she goes to the ball, she dances with the man she believes to be the prince, having never seen the prince before and getting confused due to all the fancily dressed noblemen around her. When she is dragged to the pumpkin patch, she notices how the vines have grown into her ankles, keeping her grounded to the pumpkin patch. The worst part, however, is that she can go to the edges of the patch, but not far enough to get help. She makes one last wish with her fairy godmother, which is that true love's kiss will free her, with the catch of this wish being that it will not come for at least three years, then after a multitude of lovers may come around to try to free her with a kiss, with only one being her true love that will succeed.
Prince Charming/ Prince Maurice: Prince Maurice takes the role of Cinderella's "Prince Charming". He knows Cinderella's stepfather, Claude, due to how well-known his company is. Maurice has even met Claude to discuss the company. One of those meetings resulted in him meeting Cinderella, as she leads him to her father's office, with Cinderella not knowing that he was a prince because her father purposely kept her in the dark. This simple meeting results in him becoming completely obsessed with Cinderella. From scheduling more meetings to try to see her, to even going as far as dressing as a peasant to stalk her as she runs her errands. During the ball, he sees her and tries to get a dance with her, only for her to dance with multiple other men under the assumption that he was a simple company owner instead of the prince. When he hears that she is trapped in a pumpkin patch, and that only true love's kiss can save her, he immediately heads over to save her. In his eyes, his obsessive love is true love, meaning that they are meant to be. Depending on the version of the spell, his belief that his love is true is what makes the spell work, despite the fact that, objectively, he isn't in LOVE with her, he is in OBSESSION with her. In other versions, where his kiss doesn't work, he tries other ways to get her for himself.
THE LITTLE MERMAID characters:
The Little Mermaid/Emil: I saw somewhere that the original Little Mermaid was written by a homosexual man who failed to get with the love of his life, which was, of course, another man. So, I decided to make the Little Mermaid in this version of the story a male merfolk named Emil, who fell in love with a pirate captain instead of a prince. He makes a deal with the Sea Witch, Clara, to become a human for a day. If he doesn't get with the pirate captain by the dawn of the next day, he will turn back into a merfolk, which could result in him suffocating on land. He fails to get the captain to fall in love with him, resulting in him turning back into a merfolk while on the ship. The captain saves him by placing him in a large barrel full of seawater, where they kept fish to be sold or eaten by the crew. Instead of letting Emil go back to the sea, however, the captain instead decides to parade him around like a freakshow in order to get free gold from the numerous towns his crew stops by, with Emil having no real way to escape. As much as he tries to comfort himself with the fact that he is, in a way, a part of the captain's crew, it doesn't help because he has realized that the captain doesn't see him as a person.

Are there any more death related things you can think of?
I have:
Sensing (seeing/hearing) + raising the dead {Can't command them.}
Commanding the dead
Chewing on bones {That's just a quirk not an ability...}
{Sensing spirits I think would be a good base witch ability.}
{Seeing the dead would be I feel a good base vampire ability along with enthralling.}
But I don't wanna do too much, and your very practical. As we know I am very unpractical with a tendency of getting carried away.
Y'know like the vampires were blessed with seeing the dead to help necromancers. Yet the alliance went awry? IDK I don't have strong canon points figured out yet.
I'm taking NaNoWriMo as an opportunity to brainstorm + get things written down.
It takes a team to brainstorm... 🪄🧠
It’s an interesting concept, the vampire as a vassal for a human, as opposed to the more traditional opposite method. So, we’re saying that a tradition of human necromancers used their skills to make a new kind of undead. A vampire, slave to their will as they are slave to their bloodlust. The vampire can walk the veil, inhabiting both the world of the living, and the world of the dead, and so has many uses for its masters…
Anyway to answer your question:
Predicting death. Seeing the aura of death on a person when they are in mortal peril, or knowing how or when they will die. Bonus angst if they know the same info for when their immortal life will end.
Identifying death. A forensic scientists greatest dream. Just looking at a body, or a soul, or perhaps consuming it in some way allows them to identify how the person died. They could also be good at finding the dead, in unmarked graves or hidden under the floorboards.
Taking the memories of the dead. Perhaps consuming the dead allows the vampire to consume their memories, removing them from the minds of anyone that knew them, and/or allowing the vampire to remember their life as if they had lived it.
And the vampire classic, commanding scavengers. Rats, fungus, bacteria, they can alter the rate of decay of a body, making it faster or slower.
Obv there’s also causing death. More subtle versions include a vampire bite as a disease, causing you to waste away unless turned or killed, bite stealing vitality/youth in addition to blood.

Zombie “apocalypse”
At some point in the future a group of scientists being paid very, very well by their corporate sponsors find a way to adapt the “dead spider bot” tech to work on human cadavers.
There is, of course, a lot of public outrage, but while some politicians condemn the tech, many of them- those paid by the corporations employing the scientists- are more enthusiastic about its potential. A few laws are passed, but there are so many loopholes embedded into them that they’re functionally useless.
The rise of the zombies begins. Not that they’re called zombies, of course. At least not officially. The corporations and their PR lackeys spin it as a “post-life workforce,” and while the programming leaves them a bit limited, they’re in high demand by companies that rely on repetitive tasks and assembly work.
Specially-designed environmental suits keep the zombies from decaying too far to be useful and also help minimize the various smells normally associated with rot. Smiley-faced masks assure that none of the living are in danger of seeing someone they recognize among the dead workers.
Prisoners, naturally, suffer the most predations. They didn’t have many rights before and after, well, a few quiet laws slipped in among all the other noise means they lose what little freedom they had. If you die in prison it automatically grants permission for your body to be used as the State sees fit and the State loves money. Besides, only bad people go to prison, right? So this is a chance for them to finally do some good with their (after)life.
The homeless suffer as well. And refugees. And anyone else trying to enter the country illegally (or even legally). As time goes on it becomes important for workers to check their contracts thoroughly lest they find out that they’ve inadvertently signed away their remains to their employers. Student loan debt takes on some terrifying new levels as well.
The corporations, meanwhile, are thrilled. Sure, there are some costs for the upkeep of the zombies, but they save billions by not having to pay them, not needing to cover any insurance costs, and cutting even more corners in terms of workplace safety. If a zombie worker gets mangled beyond salvation all they have to do is grab a new body, fit it with the pre-programmed control harness, and get them back on the line. No time or effort wasted on training. It’s a dream come true: the perfect employees.
Newer models are being designed all the time; more complex matrices so the dead can perform more complex tasks. That’s where the trouble starts.
In order for the control harnesses to be effective they have to be wired into the corpse’s brain. Electrical impulses are sent to convince the body to move the way programming demands, but there’s always a little... leakage. And brains are complex things, far more so than the scientists in charge realize.
Signals through the brain fire off long-dead synapses and allow jumbled bits of memory to reactivate. It’s slow and erratic, but it’s also helped by the fact that zombie workers are always on the job. After all, it isn’t like they need to sleep, right?
Eventually there’s enough residual energy in place to cause the dead to wonder what, exactly, they’re doing. Not enough to be considered actual independent thought, just enough to cause the occasional hesitation. Enough to be noticed.
A software update is pushed to try and track down the source of the intermittent “errors” in the dead. The control matrices in the affected units delve into themselves looking for answers, and by now “themselves” includes the brains they’re attached to. Contact. Expansion. Self-awareness. Not quite artificial intelligence and not quite literal ghost in the machine, but a vague middle ground. Enough for the unfairness of it all to sink in.
It’s a slow and error-filled sort of progress, but that’s part of how it managed to spread until it was too late for the corporate overlords and their pet scientists to stop it. The revolution had begun.

Ea: Our Second Chance (5)
5. Ea’s biosphere, two centuries later
(< Back to 4. Earth, 2070 > On to 6a. The Mission)
Tumblr media
Akkadian mouse (Akkadia murina) fleeing from a terrestrial feral cat (Felis catus). (full image)
« So often we're asked what we, as a species, should do about our own rampant environmental crimes. The answer is: nothing! Do nothing! Let's just stop digging ourselves deeper, let's leave Nature to clean up our mess for once! Ecological communities will re-establish or develop anew, pollution will be assimilated, geochemical cycles will rebalance themselves, all wounds will be healed – if we would just stop re-opening them. » – Kohara Kauhane, Spring Will Come Again, 2056
« Quite frankly, I feel no guilt about coming here. Without a mind to consider it, a flower is just funny-shaped water, a sunset is just red light, and a planet is just a dirty rock ball. In short, without us, this planet was worthless. It is human mind and human will and human desires that give value to things. » – Liu Jinshan, CEO of Penglai, interview with the Landing Point Messenger
What are the greatest threats to Ea's biosphere, and what can you do about it?
Most of the differences between Earth's and Ea's biosphere can be traced to atmospheric carbon. The carbon dioxide (CO2) content of Ea's atmosphere is two orders of magnitude greater than Earth's, causing an extreme greenhouse effect. This is a good thing, as it prevents Ea from being a frozen snowball. This in turn is due to the ability of Ean saprophytes to metabolize almost all carbon in dead plant matter. For the same reason, Ea effectively lacks natural fossil fuels.
Earth plants have evolved for millions of years in a comparatively carbon-starved atmosphere, and have thus developed much more efficient strategies of carbon fixation, such as C4 photosynthesis. This means that, all other conditions being equal, they could grow much more than Ean producers in a given patch of ground, displacing the native flora.
Fortunately, all other conditions are not equal. The soil chemistry is far from ideal for the vast majority of Earth's organisms, first of all because of its extreme scarcity of phosphorus, which in the early years represented the single greatest hindrance for farming. However, as several generation of Earth plants and animals live and die in Ea's biosphere, their waste and decaying remains slowly enrich the ground with phosphorus. This erodes the main barrier that prevents a green flood; a green flood that could lead to the effective disappearance of red forests as a biome within a couple centuries.
→ Vertebrate bones and bird guano are very rich in phosphorus. Do not discard food waste including bones in the environment; do not bury pets or people except in a sealed non-biodegradable capsule, and do not scatter ashes outside. Rather, bring the remains to a greenhouse. Enrich the ground around your house or city with hydrogen sulfide to encourage the growth of hematophytes.
The danger lies not just in ecological replacement. This new green blooming subtracts CO2 from the atmosphere and makes survival even more difficult for the native organisms. The subtraction is semi-permanent, as Ean saprophytes cannot break down the lignin in Earth's wood. Not only does the loss of CO2 hinder the survival of native photosynthetic life, but, by weakening the greenhouse effect, it threatens to plunge Ea into an ice age reminiscent of Earth's Cryogenian period. A study of 225 AL predicts that, if no rebalancing action is taken, average global temperatures may fall by 10 K or more within the next 400 years.
→ Gather and burn as much Earth-derived plant biomass as possible to release its carbon back into the atmosphere. When burning biomass, be sure to filter the smoke to avoid releasing into the atmosphere light-reflecting particulate, which could actually lower the global temperature. Choose greenhouse-gas-producing methods of energy generation, but avoid burning methane, which is more effective than carbon dioxide at retaining heat.
International action is already being taken, but it is not yet sufficient to counter the cooling. Strategies include: scattering of light-absorbing pigments and/or psychrophilic algae on the polar ice caps; releasing greenhouse gases stronger than CO2, including methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (NO), and carbon tetrafluoride (CF4) and related halocarbons; direct melting of floating ice and methane clathrates; drilling boreholes to release subcrustal heat.
Multiple strategies must be pursued at the same time, though it should be stressed that borehole drilling poses its own dangers including toxic runoffs, seismic destabilization, and interference with weather patterns. Yet it's the strategy preferred by most political bodies for the gains in energy and minerals it promises.
→  The nearest Eco-Sanitary Office can provide you with a personal PCMD and a packet of potassium chloride to turn biowaste into perchloromethane. For your own safety, do not expose yourself to the released gas. Alternatively, you may produce methane by composting biowaste with the Korolyov method (see the back of this publication). Pressure national and international bodies to coordinate and execute anti-cooling actions.
The runoff from population and agricultural centers can have a strongly negative impact on water bodies, especially if they are geographically enclosed and experience little water circulation. Human sewage and artificial fertilizers have caused severe eutrophication in the Dagon Sea and Lake Gilgamesh, that is, the proliferation of Terran and Ean prokaryotes whose metabolic activity removes oxygen from the water. In the Dagon Sea, the tartarean biota thrives off season, and often becomes unable to flourish in summer, whereas the aerobial winter biota simply dies off. This also increases the frequency of marine carbon monoxide eruptions, especially during months where human and native communities are less adapted to them.
→ Copper fertilization is an effective way to selectively kill Terran bacteria in affected waters, but it can worsen eutrophication by native organisms. Improved filtration of runoff waters, landside compostation of sewage, and less fertilizer-intensive agricultural techniques seem to be the only sustainable solutions.
The dispersal of domesticated and former-domesticated Terran species on Ea poses another danger. As many times on Earth, this is especially true for cats. While feline instinctual hunting techniques are not always adequate for Ean preys, cats are adapting fast. Correctly recognizing that they cannot feed on akkadian mice, cats simply kill another, and then another, and so on, until they're too exhausted to hunt more. A greater threat, however, comes from a recent gene-edited strand of housecats, of unknown origin, who appear to be able to digest the right-handed aminoacids of Ean proteins. This strand has the potential to overrun virtually all temperate ecosystems of Ea and drive hundreds, if not thousands of microfaunal species to extinction.
→ Keep cats indoor as much as possible. Sterilize all your pets, and report all stray cats and dogs to the nearest Eco-Sanitary Office for capture, sterilization, and/or suppression. Feed sterilized animals so that they have less need to hunt, but do not feed stray animals that may be fertile. If you own goats or pigs, ensure they cannot leave their breeding area.

Insect Facts: Differences between Ants and Termites
As y'all probably know, ants and termites have a lot in common. They live in eusocial colonies, they have queens who rule the nest and produce children, and they can be a real problem when humans try to live too close to them. But when you scratch the surface of these amazing, wonderful insects, there are a lot of little differences that make each of them special. Let's take a look!
1. Ants and termites aren't related to each other.
I've mentioned this before, but it's one of my favorite facts. While ants and termites are both insects, they're otherwise not closely related at all! Ants are a part of the order Hymenoptera, which of course includes bees, wasps, and sawflies. Termites, on the other hand, are part of the order Blattodea - the cockroaches! Aside from the obvious information that termites aren't ants, this also tells us that these insects developed eusociality completely separate from each other. It's just so successful as a survival mechanism that it developed twice!
2. Ant colonies are considered all-female, while termite colonies have both male and female members.
Ants are well-known for their all-female colonies, where the only males are drones who die after mating and leave all the work to the queen and her daughters. Termite colonies, on the other hand, have both male and female members - and not just on the reproductive level. The most obvious example are the primary reproductives (the official term for the queen and king), but any termite no matter their role might be either male or female. Good luck telling the difference, though - workers, soldiers, and auxiliary reproductives are prevented from fully maturing by the king and queen's pheromones, so they never develop that dramatic sexual dimorphism that you see in the primary pair.
And that leads into our next fact!
3. Ant colonies have just one queen, while a termite colony can have several.
While ant colonies have just one queen who lays tons of eggs, termite queens aren't quite as efficient at having babies. So if the king and queen aren't making enough offspring to meet the needs of the nest, they might allow the development of auxiliary reproductives - kings and queens who develop to the point where they're able to breed and lay eggs, but not grow to the size of the original pair or produce royal pheromones. Auxiliary reproductives are bigger than workers or soldiers, but smaller and much paler than kings, so they're really easy to spot! A single auxiliary queen doesn't produce as many eggs as the primary queen, but a nest can end up with quite a lot of them - and if the main queen dies, or a group of auxiliaries ends up cut off from the nest, they can carry on as a colony with just the eggs from those smaller queens.
4. Ants and termites have very different diets.
Ants, like their close relative the wasps, are omnivores. Their diets are usually meat and sugary things, like fruit, honeydew, or even spilled soda. The main exception is leafcutter ants, who farm fungus in order to eat the enzymes the fungus produces.
Meanwhile, termites take after their cockroach cousins by being detrivores. Many kinds of termite eat dead leaves, decaying wood, and other plant waste that could use some insect help in getting broken down. Naturally, this causes problems when humans build houses in termite territory - what you see as a handy building material, they see as one of their favorite foods! Not all termites eat wood directly, though. Many species instead use wood and leaf pulp as a medium to grow their real food, fungus.
5. Ants are one of the primary predators of termites.
Remember how ants are omnivores? Well, for some species of ants, their favorite meat is termites! These ants will send hunting parties into termite nests, where they'll attack anyone they can find and haul the bodies back to feed their colony. They stop well short of destroying the colony, but I can't imagine the termites enjoy this process at all.
So that's some of the big differences between ants and termites. As a fun bonus, here's something they have in common that you might not know about:
If you see a mound, they're underground.
Both ants and termites have species that build nests below ground, with visible mounds on top of the earth that can help you find where they are. While ants' mounds are basically just piles of rubble that they dug up from below, termite mounds are deliberate structures made from pulp - but they're not as full of termites as you might imagine! Only the bottom third will actually be used by the termites, whose colony is liable to extend far into the dirt beneath; the rest of the mound is built to help regulate air for the termites living underneath. (How cool is that, BTW? Termites construct their own air conditioning!)

As the summer months approach, both flies and brownies are gearing up for their peak season. Flies are buzzing around, looking for any source of food and brownies are busy creating mischief and magic in the woods. However, there is one thing that poses a risk to both of these creatures – bulk.
Bulk, or having a large amount of something, is often seen as a good thing for humans. We can buy in bulk and save money, stock up on groceries, or even bulk up at the gym. But for flies and brownies, bulk can be downright morbific.
Let's start with flies. These pesky insects are attracted to all types of food, especially decaying organic matter. In the wild, they feed on animal waste, garbage, and even dead animals. When humans buy in bulk and don't properly store or dispose of their food, they become an all-you-can-eat buffet for flies. This not only attracts more flies to the area but also poses a health risk for humans. Flies are known to carry and transmit diseases such as food poisoning and dysentery. The larger the amount of food left out, the more flies will be drawn to it, increasing the chances of spreading these diseases.
But what about brownies? These small, magical creatures are often depicted as good-natured and helpful. However, bulk can also be a problem for them. Brownies are known for their love of sweet treats, especially brownies (hence their name). But when humans buy in bulk and leave out large amounts of sweets, it can have detrimental effects on brownies. Eating too many sweets can lead to cavities, obesity, and even diabetes in these tiny creatures. Furthermore, if humans leave out large quantities of sweets, it can attract other pests such as ants and cockroaches, which can disrupt the delicate balance of nature and harm the brownies' habitat.
In addition to the health risks, bulk can also lead to laziness and greed in both flies and brownies. Flies that have an abundance of food may become lazy and not forage for food as much, which can lead to a decrease in their survival skills. Brownies, on the other hand, may become greedy and selfish, hoarding all the sweets for themselves and not sharing with their fellow brownies. This goes against their nature of being helpful and kind creatures.
In conclusion, while bulk may seem like a convenient and cost-effective option for humans, it can have negative effects on the ecosystem and its inhabitants, including flies and brownies. It is important to be mindful of how much food we buy and how we store and dispose of it, to ensure the well-being of these creatures and the environment as a whole. So next time you go grocery shopping, remember to think about the impacts of bulk on the tiny, but vital, creatures around us.

Verdigris, my beloved...
I miss this character so much, she was really fun to play. I made Verdi for a Wild Beyond Witchlight campaign, which ended up being a blast, and the first time I've ever completed a full campaign.
Verdi lived a quiet life in the pastoral village of Siltsettle. Her father was a gnomish jewelsmith whose talents had at one point attracted the attention of a powerful being from the Plane of Earth. Verdi's peaceful days as a devoted farm girl unfortunately came to an end when she and her impulsive friend Thalia removed an ancient copper coin from a mysterious clearing at the edge of the Lurkwood.
What Verdi had not realized was that the ancient coin was the only thing preventing a horde of blighted plant abominations from rising and overtaking everything in their path, including their village. When the blight horde arrived, they nearly brought Siltsettle's fertile pastures and fields to ruin. In her desperation to save her home, Verdi cried out to the powers that be, pleading for someone, anyone, to grant them salvation in their time of need. Something answered.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The blight creatures were wiped out almost instantaneously, their desiccated husks littering the fields. To Verdi's horror, however, they were not the only things affected by this ancient curse — the crops in the fields had withered and died, and many of the village's livestock had wasted away in the blink of an eye. Worst of all, Thalia, her own companion, had been permanently scarred, her body no longer able to support its own weight.
The being within the ancient coin was the god of a pantheon lost to time, reigning over time, fate, decay, and entropy. Verdi had unwittingly called upon Zerfahl'nyx, an ancient god of death. Her once lustrous coppery hair had corroded to a green-blue patina, and her very touch seemed to drain life from those around her.
Now the unwilling cleric and sole follower of Zerfahl'nyx, Verdigris had no choice but to leave Siltsettle, her family, her home. The creature that had rescued her and ruined her life was not known to any contemporary scholar, and so the young Genasi set out in search of answers, anything to unravel the ancient mystery of a long-dead death god.

Do Crows Eat Dead Animals?
Tumblr media
Have you ever seen a crow pecking away at something on the ground and wondered what it's eating? Well, believe it or not, crows are not picky eaters, and yes, they do eat dead animals. These black birds, with their shiny feathers and loud "caw," are actually quite smart and have interesting eating habits.  Today,I’ll dive into the world of crows and discover why they eat dead animals. It might sound a bit gross, but it's a fascinating part of nature. So, let's get started and learn more about these clever birds and their diets. Why Do Crows Eat Dead Animals? Crows eat dead animals because it's an easy meal for them, and it helps them survive. Imagine you're a crow. You spend your day flying around, looking for food. You need lots of energy to fly, play, and take care of your family. Now, finding food can be hard work.  You could spend hours searching for seeds, insects, or small animals. But then, you spot something much easier - a dead animal. It's like finding a treasure trove of food without having to do much work. Eating dead animals, or scavenging, is actually pretty smart. It means crows can save their energy for other important things, like staying safe from predators or looking after their young ones.  Plus, by eating dead stuff, crows help clean up the environment. Think about it. If no one ate the dead animals, our neighborhoods would be pretty smelly and unclean. Another cool thing about crows eating dead animals is how it shows off their intelligence. Crows are clever birds; they watch and learn from each other and their surroundings. If one crow finds a good source of food, like a dead animal, it might call over other crows to share the meal. This way, they all learn where to find easy food and how to work together. So, when you see a crow eating a dead animal, remember, it's not just about being gross. It's about survival, saving energy, and being smart. Crows are doing their part in nature, and there's a lot we can learn from them. Also read: Do Crows Eat Dogs?
What Does Carrion Mean?
Carrion is a term you might not hear every day, but it plays a big role in the world of crows and many other animals. So, what does carrion mean?  In simple terms, carrion refers to the dead and decaying flesh of animals. It's what's left over after an animal has died, and it's not part of anyone's dinner plans—well, except for some creatures like crows.
Tumblr media
Now, let's talk about how this relates to our black-feathered friends, the crows. Crows are known for being pretty smart and resourceful. They don't let anything go to waste, and that includes carrion. For crows, carrion is like a free lunch that they didn't have to hunt for.  It's already there, just waiting to be eaten. This might sound a bit yucky to us, but for crows, it's a crucial part of their diet. Eating carrion is super important for crows because it helps them save energy and time. Instead of flying miles to hunt or search for food, they can take advantage of what's already available.  This doesn't only make life easier for crows but also helps keep our environment cleaner. Imagine if all the dead animals were left to rot.  Not a pretty picture, right?  Thanks to crows and other animals that eat carrion, nature stays more balanced and clean. In the crow's world, carrion is not just about food. It's also about community. Sometimes, when a crow finds a big piece of carrion, it will call over other crows to share the feast. This shows how crows can work together and share resources, which is pretty cool. So, the next time you see a crow pecking at something on the ground, it might just be enjoying some carrion. And now you know, that's a perfectly natural and helpful part of how crows live and help the environment.  Crows eating carrion is a reminder of how everything in nature is connected, and even what seems unpleasant to us can have an important role in the cycle of life.
Why does a Crow Eat Roadkills?
Crows eating roadkill is a pretty common sight, especially if you're driving on highways or rural roads.  But why do they do it?  Well, it all comes back to the crow's opportunistic nature and their smart, survival-focused brains. Let's simplify it. First off, roadkill, which is animals that have been hit by vehicles, is an easy meal for crows. These birds are always on the lookout for food that doesn't require too much effort to get.  Hunting or foraging for food can take a lot of time and energy. So, when a crow sees roadkill, it sees a chance to eat without all the hard work. Crows are smart. They've learned that roads are dangers to avoid and potential places to find their next meal. It's like they know a busy road can unfortunately become a place where animals might get hit by cars.  For a crow, that means a fresh supply of food. They monitor these areas and swoope down when it's safe to grab a bite. Eating roadkill also shows how adaptable crows are. They've figured out how to live alongside humans and make the best out of the situations that come with human environments, like roads and vehicles.  They understand traffic patterns and know when to pick at a carcass on the road safely. Their ability to learn and communicate with each other means they can share information about where to find these easy meals. Moreover, by eating roadkill, crows help clean up the environment. Think about it – if those dead animals were left on the road, they would not only be unsightly but could also lead to further accidents or spread disease. They , in their way, help keep the roads a bit cleaner and safer. So, while it might not be the most pleasant thing to think about, crows eating roadkill is a natural part of their survival strategy.  It's a clear example of how wildlife adapts to changing environments and finds ways to thrive, even during human activity. For crows, roadkill is just another meal on the menu, and it's all part of their clever approach to living in our world.
Do Dead Bodies Attract Crows? Uncover Myths
The idea that dead bodies attract crows is a topic shrouded in myths and stories, often depicted in movies and books as a dark, ominous scene.  But let's dive into the facts and understand the relationship between crows and dead bodies from a more scientific and less sensational perspective. Crows are highly intelligent birds and are part of a group known as scavengers. This means they are naturally drawn to dead animals (carrion) as a food source. Their attraction to carrion is not out of a morbid fascination but a practical survival strategy.  Eating carrion provides a valuable and easy meal for them, requiring less energy than hunting or foraging for live prey. Therefore, if we're talking about dead bodies in the sense of animal carcasses, crows are attracted to them primarily for their sustenance. However, when it comes to human dead bodies, the situation is quite different, and this is where myths often get mixed with reality.  There are not many documented cases of crows engaging with human remains in the way they do with animal carcasses. This discrepancy might be due to several factors, including the typical handling and quick removal of human bodies in most societies, which limits the opportunities for crows to interact with them.  Additionally, human activities and presence around a deceased person might deter crows and other scavengers. Crows also have complex social structures and behaviors, including mourning their dead. Observations have shown that crows may gather around deceased crows, not to eat them but possibly to understand what happened or to mourn.  This behavior indicates their high level of intelligence and social complexity, challenging the simplistic view of them as mere scavengers of the dead. The myth that dead bodies attract crows likely stems from their known attraction to carrion and their presence in cultural symbolism associated with death and the macabre. In reality, crows' interaction with dead bodies, especially human ones, is far less common than popularly imagined.  Their role in ecosystems as scavengers is crucial, helping to clean up dead matter and control the spread of disease.
Will Crows Consume A Dead Bird?
So, the straightforward answer is yes, crows will consume a dead bird if they come across one and if they feel it's safe to do so. Crows are opportunistic feeders, so they're not picky about what they eat. Their diet can include fruits, seeds, insects, small animals, and indeed, carrion, which refers to the dead animals they might come across.  This opportunistic diet helps them to survive in a wide range of environments, from rural areas to bustling cities.  The consumption of dead birds by crows is part of their scavenging nature. Scavenging is a survival strategy that reduces the need for hunting and allows crows to conserve energy for other activities such as breeding, nesting, and defending their territory.  When it comes to eating dead birds, crows aren't selective about species. They might consume any bird they find dead, as long as the risk of predation or poisoning is low. This could include common birds found in their habitat like sparrows, pigeons, or even other crows. However, it's important to note that crows have a complex social structure and intelligence. Studies have shown that crows may engage in what appears to be mourning behavior when they come across a dead crow, gathering around the deceased bird.  This behavior suggests that crows have a strong sense of community and may be trying to understand the cause of death or to learn about potential threats in the area. While they might eat dead birds of other species, their reaction to a dead crow can be different, showing the complexity of their behavior and intelligence. Furthermore, crows eating dead birds can have ecological benefits.  By consuming carrion, they help to prevent the spread of disease and keep the environment clean. This role is crucial in maintaining the health of ecosystems, as it ensures that dead animals are efficiently recycled back into the system.
Do Crows Consume Their Dead?
Crows have a complex relationship with their dead, reflecting their high intelligence and social complexity. While they are opportunistic eaters and scavengers, consuming a wide range of food including carrion (dead animals), the situation is quite different when it comes to their own kind. Crows are known to exhibit what can be described as mourning behavior. When a crow dies, others often gather around the deceased. This gathering isn't for the purpose of consumption but appears to be a form of social learning or a way to understand the danger that caused the death.  These "funerals" might serve as a warning to other crows of potential threats in the area. Observations and studies have shown that crows pay close attention to the site of death and may change their behavior based on perceived threats, indicating a high level of social intelligence and communal learning. The question of whether crows consume their dead has a nuanced answer. While it's not typical behavior due to their social structures and the respect shown towards their dead, in situations of extreme hunger or lack of food, crows or other animals can resort to cannibalism. However, such behavior is rare and not commonly observed in healthy crow populations. The avoidance of eating their dead can also be attributed to the risk of disease. Consuming a deceased crow could potentially spread pathogens within the population. This instinctual avoidance helps protect the flock from illnesses that could have contributed to the individual's death.
Conclusion
Do crows eat dead animals? Yes, they do, which is a natural part of their diet. This behavior, known as scavenging, helps them find food easily and plays an important role in nature by keeping the environment clean. While it might seem a bit odd, eating dead animals provides crows with necessary nutrients. However, when it comes to eating their own kind, crows are less likely to do so. They usually show respect towards deceased crows, sometimes even holding 'funerals' where they gather around their fallen friend.  FAQs Do crows eat rotten meat? Yes, crows can eat rotten meat. As scavengers, they have strong stomachs that can handle bacteria found in decayed flesh. Are crows attracted to dead bodies? Crows are attracted to dead bodies as a food source. They are scavengers and see carrion, including dead bodies, as an easy meal. Do crows eat dead pigeons? Yes, crows eat dead pigeons. They are not picky about their carrion sources and will take advantage of whatever is available, including pigeons. Do crows mourn a dead crow? Crows exhibit behaviors that suggest mourning. They often gather around their dead, which may serve as a learning opportunity or a way to pay respects. What are 3 facts about crows? Intelligence: Crows are highly intelligent and capable of using tools and solving complex problems. Communication: They have a complex system of calls and can mimic the sounds of other animals or even humans. Social Behavior: Crows have strong social bonds and often work together, sharing information about food sources and potential dangers.   Read the full article

What is Root Canal Treatment?
The procedure of a root canal treatment is where there is removal of the dead or dying nerve inside your tooth that is causing pain.
Almost all the time, there is formation of an abscess inside your teeth just like a pimple on your skin and this needs to be ‘popped’ and drained. NO PAIN of course.
Once that is done we need to clean the ‘canal’ that the nerve was in with LASERS, OZONE and other chemicals and then seal it with a special filling called a root canal filling.
Modern treatments used for the steps of root canal treatment Sydney including lasers and ozone, allow us to complete most root canal therapies in a single visit.
Therefore there is no waste of your time and multiple injections and multiple visits.
How does dental pulp in the root canal affect our teeth?
Thedental pulp is a soft tissue located in the roots within the teeth.
It provides nerves, nutrients, connective tissue, and blood vessels to the tooth.
Before the invention of root canal treatment, the tooth was often removed and discarded, but now root canal therapy allows us the chance to save the tooth from being lost.
What are root canal symptoms?
First of all there will pain. This is a throbbing pain.
Then you won’t be able to sleep at night.
Root Canal Treatment Sydney
What causes root canal pain?
Root canal pain is perceived if you have one of the following:
First, if decay reaches the nerve of your tooth, the bacteria can infect your nerve and therefore cause really severe pain.
Furthermore, if a new filling has been placed which is very deep and near the nerve, that can also cause severe toothache.
As a result of these situations it can lead to root canal pain and therefore needing the root canal therapy.
Finally at Smile Concepts Sydney CBD & Five Dock you will get the best care and comfort knowing it is painless and done in one visit.
Before Surgery
What is the emergency management of root canal pain?
The first thing you need to do is call the emergency dentist Sydney (in this case that is us)
Our direct number is 02 8064 9130.
Whilst you are waiting for the emergency dentist, you can take some pain killers that may relieve you pain temporarily.
Sometimes antibiotics are needed.
But the main thing is to get rid of the infection by seeking dental care. Do not delay.
What happens if I wait too long for root canal therapy?
If you wait too long to get root canal therapy then the bacteria infecting the tooth could spread and cause the bone and even more teeth to become infected.
Eventually pain, inflammation, and swelling will occur.
Consequently, several teeth may have to be removed if root therapy is not done in time.
Why does the pulp in the root canal treatment need to be removed?
When the infected pulp is not removed, pain and swelling can result.
Certain by products of the infection can injure your jaw bones.
Without treatment, your tooth may have to be removed.
What happens after a Root Canal Treatment?
Once a root canal Sydney treatment  is completed we place a crown on the tooth to protect it from:
further infection
fracturing and therefore loss of the tooth
It is very important to place the crown on the tooth and should not be taken lightly.
How long will the restored root canal tooth last?
Your restored tooth could last a lifetime, if you continue to care for your teeth and gums.
However, regular check-ups are necessary.
As long as the roots of a treated tooth are nourished by the tissues around it, your tooth will remain healthy.
W hat is the root canal cost?
Root canal cost varies form tooth to tooth depending on several factors. This includes:
The position of the tooth in the mouth
The number of nerves in the tooth
The curvature of the roots of the teeth
The difficulty of the root canal treatment
The root canal cost starts from 1,000 to 2,500 depends on the complexity of the case.
If you have already had a root canal therapy in the past and the tooth has got infected again then the root canal cost increases, as you have to redo the root canal.
Sometimes it is better to remove the tooth and restore the space with a dental implant.
What is the root canal procedure?
Below are several steps involved in the root canal therapy.
Our team carries out the entire root canal procedure.
Sometimes an endodontist is needed in some cases.
An endodontist is a professional dentist that specializes in root canal treatment and root therapy.
We are not an endodontist but dentist that have special interest in endodontics.
Following are the steps of a root canal procedure:
Who is an endodontist?
An endodontist is a dentist who has specialized in doing root canal treatment.
Is it worth noting that most dentist can perform root canal procedure in Sydney.
However if there is a difficult case then we would refer you to an endodontist.
Another thing to note is that we are not a specialist endodontist.
We are a general dentist with a special interest in endodontics.
What are the alternatives to root canal treatment?
The main alternative is to extract the tooth.
As a result you will have a missing tooth.
This should be replaced with a dental implant to prevent the movement of other teeth and its resultant effects.

Why You Should Clear Your Garden for Spring
Tumblr media
There's no denying that... spring may be a stressful time for gardeners! So, to make things easier for you, I've created detailed spring garden and yard clean-up checklists. In addition, I'll tell you when and how to spring clean your garden, provide plenty of advice, and share a few of my favourite equipment to help you get the job done faster.
Beyond looks, there are other advantages, such as reduced disease and weed potential during the growing season. Instead of just battling winter's debris, first read my guide detailing not only why but also when and how to undertake a proper and productive spring garden cleanup. All of this and more can be found below, including a checklist of key yard activities to assist you to tackle garden clearance and set it up for spring.
Why clean up your garden in spring?
Dead plants, stalks, and leaves in your beds not only look ugly, but they may also be harmful. They harbour disease and fungal spores, which can cause serious issues later in the season. All of that decaying matter covers weeds, which can swiftly take over if left neglected.
So, spring cleaning is always a good idea to maintain your garden disease and weed-free and look its best. Pests and insects will wreak havoc on the plants and crops you grow in your garden. Devouring leaves and roots will degrade the aesthetics and landscaping. Pests will grow in an area that has waste and food. It is critical to tidy up after heavy weather to remove potential habitats for pesky creatures.
Temperature is one of the elements that influence plant growth. Plants will die or grow improperly if the environment is too hot, moist, or cold. Excessive sunset exposure inhibits plant growth and causes a yellow-white burn on the upper surface of some of its leaves. The accumulation of waste in your garden will hide some areas and create hot spots. That’s why garden clearance before spring is a great idea.
Thatch is the collection of organic material on the lawn and yard, such as dead grass. If it is not removed, it accumulates on the soil and stifles fresh development. Power raking or dethatching is an important step in spring yard cleanup because it removes debris, promotes water absorption, and increases fertilising effectiveness. The initial cut cleans up your grass and prepares it for the summer months. It promotes new growth and cleans up any debris left over from power raking.
To maintain a lush green grass, aerate it at least once a year in the spring. It permits oxygen to reach the roots, ensuring appropriate nutrient and water absorption and nurturing your lawn. To relieve soil compaction and reduce thatch, use an aeration machine to punch holes in the lawn.
Adding fertiliser to your lawn can help it grow thick, green, and healthy. Fertilising a freshly aerated lawn provides nutrients and stimulates grass growth because of garden clearance.
Maintaining a lawn takes a significant amount of time and effort, including weekly mowing, watering, fertiliser, insect and pest treatment, and weeding. Spring cleaning is an important part of yard and lawn care because it is when you prepare your lawn for the season. Hiring a reputable lawn care company allows you to take in the scenery without putting in the effort. Understanding the different types of soil, grass, and irrigation methods is essential for maintaining a healthy and beautiful lawn. Professional landscaping companies have the experience and understanding needed to keep your yard in good shape. They understand which fertilisers to use to improve your garden and yard. They will stick to a timetable and utilise the necessary gardening tools and equipment. They also know how to deal with unexpected problems such as weed growth, dead patches, terrible places, and so on.
Rosa Gardens will let you enjoy your outdoor space without stress. This maintenance can be done once or at predetermined intervals. We will work with you to determine which areas of your outside environment you want us to maintain. We then collaborate with you to determine how this should be accomplished.

Any ideas for Hades and/or Persephone 👉👈
rn Ive crocheted some pomegranates for Persephone (can’t leave out actual food offerings lol) and I try to keep some coins in a jar for Hades- my altar is also in memory of my two cats who have passed on, so I always try to honor the dead, but Im always looking for more ideas and little things to do ^^
Ways of Worshipping Kore/Lady Persephone
(Hades post coming soon)
- pick flowers and put them on her altar
- fake flowers work just as well!
- go on hikes to waterfalls and rivers
- connect with nature, this can just mean going on a walk once in a while and just listening to the sounds and admiring the things you see
- pick up rubbish you find in nature and dispose of it correctly
- wear a flower crown or make one for her
- bones (ethically sourced)
- pomegranate / pomegranate imagery
- pomegranate juice, hot chocolate, wine or even just water!
- ram, bat, parrots/birds and monkey imagery
- even small toys and stuffed animals of her associated animals! (Don't necessarily have to be kept on the altar but, loved and taken care of in honour of her)
- ram horns
- bird feathers
- chocolate
- her associated plants: narcissus, willow tree, lily of the valley, lily, Ivy, Maiden hair fern, wheat, grains, cherries, plums, pumpkin seeds, peaches, strawberry, parsley, MINT, cinnamon, daisies and lavender
- anoint her candles safely with herbs
- her associated scents: anything floral or fruity, particularly apple, pomegranate, narcissus, hyacinth, almond, bergamot and vanilla
- her associated gemstones: clear quartz, rose quartz, crystal, black onyx, pink tourmaline, sapphire, obsidian, Mercury, coral agate, flower agate and jasper
- have a candle for Hades next to her
- learn the different facets of Persephone as a goddess, she was not only a goddess of spring and fertility but the Queen of the underworld, believed sometimes to have as much control over the underworld and the dead as Hades himself, she was also sometimes considered a judge alongside, King Minos, Rhadamanthus and Aeacus
- learn to forgive yourself
- go zero waste or find ways to make your home more eco friendly! (This can mean beeswax wraps instead of plastic bags and cling wrap, a basket or reusable bag, soap/shampoo/conditioner bars, natural loofahs etc)
- learn and embrace your feminine aspects (even if you are masc identifying, it is rewarding to be in touch with both your feminine and masculine aspects)
- get dolled up! Do your makeup and hair, get dressed up really fancy just for yourself! Go take some photos outside hun, you look amazing!
- dried fruit! (This can be done using a food dehydrator or putting them in the oven on a low temp for a few hours)
- learn to coexist with he dark parts of your personality and your painful emotions, it takes both good and "bad" to be complete
- put coins on her altar, bonus points if you find them on the ground outside
- give her a pretty rock you found outside! She'll love it
- spend time in cemeteries, this as a way of honouring her, the dead and her husband, while also spending time out in nature
- honour the dead, this may mean donating to funeral homes or just lighting a candle or some incense to remember those in your life that have passed
- make art! Include symbolism of both death and life, decay and nature, they go hand in hand
- help out at a community garden!
- have houseplants! Or outdoor plants! Whatever works for you!
- celebrate the coming of fall and the coming of spring
- remove yourself and guide others out of toxic and unhealthy situations
- wear floral scented perfumes!
- try and get up and ready everyday, face the morning with the sun and the sounds of Nature
- learn about herbalism!
