Throughout the Bible, the Lord Jesus was given many names. He was called the Light of the world, the Lamb of God, the Good Shepherd, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Son of God, Christ, Jesus, the Promised One, the Bright and Morning Star and many more. Each of these names reflects a different facet of His character and helps us understand who He really is. Of all the names that were given to Him, though, none brings more comfort to my heart than Immanuel—God with us. What a comfort to know, Jesus is with us in moments of rejoicing and in moments of great pain and sorrow.
Prayer: Father in Heaven, thank You for the comfort that comes from knowing You became flesh and lived among us. I find comfort in knowing that You are God with us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Joseph's Dream
20 But after he had pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

It has been SUCH a happy season in our family! We've celebrated 5 birthdays -- me, Iva, Jannes, Hosanna, and Immanuel! Isn't it sweet that my two sets of twins have their birthdays so close? And I'm a twin too -- my family truly has been blessed!
Little Immanuel and Hosanna are still so sweet! Hosanna is so servant-hearted, and when she's not playing with her siblings or helping out, she loves to learn about animals or even go outside and find some little critters to care for! I'm sure she'd love to marry a vet or a farmer when she's older, so she can help out! And with all that gorgeous blonde hair and her sweet nature, he'll be a lucky man! Immanuel is going to be such a strong leader when he's older -- he's just like Natan at his age! He can be a little challenging to manage, but it's always good to have another proper little boy running around outside.
Jannes, on the other hand, still hasn't grown out of being too shy and timid for a boy. He likes to sit inside and read, and we have to keep a close eye on what he's reading, to make sure it's all God-fearing and appropriate. He's also too eager to help out with things that really are women's work - it's very good-natured but he'll not be a good headship with an attitude like that!
Iva is still our problem child, but I think the Lord has done some work on breaking her spirit, and she's now much better at being obedient and helpful than she was as a little girl. However, she still struggles with having a cheerful spirit, and she isn't good at putting other's needs above her own. We'll have to pray that this changes or she'll never get a husband (she also needs to lose some weight for this same issue). We're also praying that she'll develop a less vain and immodest spirit. She was allowed to buy her own clothes as a birthday present, and the skirt she picked was far too short, and needs a underskirt. She's not too happy about this, but mothers need to protect their daughters' dignity and countenance.
And I've turned 40! While entering a new season of life is always bittersweet, I am so excited to see what God has planned for me in my next few years. We pray every day to be blessed with a new baby, but I'll be content with however many children God decides to bless me with, as my mama years are going to soon over. Even though this is a sadness, having grown-up children means weddings and grandchildren soon enough. And nothing makes my heart happier than knowing my children are on the path the Lord has for them.

More Narnia thoughts!
Now, take this with a grain of salt because it’s been a few years since I’ve read the book, and I only saw one of the movies once in the past few years, but anyway.
I’ve always wondered why C. S. Lewis decided to make Christmas a thing in Narnia. Like... it’s not our world. They don’t share our history. And yeah, there’s Aslan, but Aslan doesn’t have a birth story like Jesus.
I’d figured it was just a C. S. Lewis thing; he really does like to mix mythologies and whatnot. But it just struck me that it might be something more.
Because Aslan had been away for awhile. He wasn’t with the people. It was always winter... but never Christmas. There was no hope of God with man.
But then, hope! And with hope came Christmas. You might say, “What is Christmas to Narnia?” Ah, but what is Christmas to us?
Immanuel.
God with us.
Aslan had returned and was with the people again. And maybe that’s why C. S. Lewis included Christmas.

In the light of certain events - on the first Advent.
Long time ago the biblical prophet Zechariah foresaw the coming of a king promising true peace and justice.
One who renounces external power and chooses a donkey to show himself to his people.
Show, what he stood for... (Zech 9:9-10)
Centuries later a man named Jesus connects to this word and enters the state capital on on the common man's mount. (John 12:14-15)
An unworldly, hopeless idealist?
A dreamer?
A detached visionary?
Well, what would this world be without ideas and dreams and visions?
This world needs people who take a stand against war and weapons.
Against the power of money, against elbow mentality.
This world needs a revolution in thinking.
This story is a demonstration against the age-old will to power.
It's an old story - but highly topical.
Have a good time everyone.

Immanuel our best ever Christmas gift
Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23
Isaiah 7:14 says The Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.
Permit me to explain
These gracious words were spoken by the Hebrew prophet Isaiah about 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. This prophecy like some other old testament prophecies seemed to have a double fulfilment.
That is the prophecy was fulfilled in the days around when it was first given for King Ahaz.
However, its second and much greater fulfilment came several hundred years later when Jesus Christ was born.
We know this Immanuel prophecy about was about Jesus because the Gospel of
Matthew 1:23 quotes the Isaiah 7:14 scripture as follows
Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Please note that both spellings are acceptable that is Immanuel and Emmanuel.
So, what does Emmanuel or 'God with us' mean?
Emmanuel in a sense is an overview of God's full plan of salvation for mankind.
First God becomes a actual man of flesh and blood, he can feel pain and the full range of human emotions.
This brings God in a new way into a full identification with mankind.
He now knows exactly what it is like to be a human being.
This baby born in a manger, grows up to become the Messiah the Saviour, who at the end of his life saves mankind from our greatest foe...not the Romans, not the Egyptians, not the Russians… mankind's biggest foe is sin or we could say acting against God's wishes.
This unique baby went on to provide a way back to God for mankind for all of us have gone astray.
Imagine that, God the Son was with us and is still with us!
What does that mean to you?
Yes, that little baby in the manger, grew up to become the suffering Messiah who has provided a way back to God for all who want it.
We can rejoice in Emmanuel
We rejoice that God is with us.
We can rejoice in God’s greatest ever gift Christmas gift- Immanuel, Jesus Christ who came to take our sins. If this is new to you then check out the teaching below 'How to be born again'.
