Managers👏fucking👏communicate👏challenge!👏

I've asked many, many, many times that if managers are going to ask me to come into work on my days off to provide the necessary information. They refuse or "forget" or only provide partial information. So if I'm not given all of this information initially, I am not responding.

1. What time do they want me to clock in at? "ASAP" or "whenever you can be here" can sometimes be acceptable answers, in instances where I'm extending my already scheduled shift, not coming in on my day off. But if that is the answer, then I definitely need to be provided with more information. Such as...

2. How long will the shift be? I will accept answers in two forms: "from x time to x time" and "come in at x time for a x hour shift" This is actually a surprisingly big one, because I learned the hard way that if I didn't confirm ahead of time, I got suckered into a 2 hour shift. A complete waste of time. Or the opposite- I end up getting roped into an 8 hour shift but wasn't given the information ahead of time and couldn't pack a lunch and now I have to waste half of my lunch break buying food during lunch rush.

3. What department? Ok so I clock in and go....where? At my store, we are all cross-trained in all departments (or we're supposed to be- I am at least- so we can fill in wherever needed) I need to know what section of the store to head to. And depending on the department, I need different tools. For example, if I'm a cashier, I usually don't need to grab a box cutter. But if I'm stocking, I need one to open shipping boxes. Also, I hate register and I want the option to decline ahead of time.

I just received a text that simply says "are you available to come in?" which meets 0/4 of the necessary information requirements, so I will not be responding.

(Just to be clear- I have repeatedly explained to all members of management over multiple years that I need ALL of this information in order to determine if I can cover a shift. It's not like I made up secret rules in my head and magically expect everyone to read my mind. I have been very clear and consistent about needing this information. So no information=no coverage from me)

Dunno why I remembered that just now but

I remember the day my great uncle Guy died, because on that day I came into my paternal grandparents' kitchen and found my grandfather sitting on a chair and crying, my grandmother standing beside him with a hand on his shoulder. I remember asking what was going on, and my grandmother saying "Uncle Guy died"

And I didn't know who he was. Couldn't even remember hearing the name before. My grandfather lost a sibling, admittedly one of eight, and I had no idea who the guy was. I left, feeling more ill at ease for my lack of knowledge than mournful at all.

I remembered this, and I remember the day a few weeks ago when one of my students came into homeroom, sat down, and proceeded to cry on the table for an hour. I remember squeezing their shoulder a couple times, feeling so fucking impersonal, because my instinct would have been to hug it better.

I wonder if my grandparents felt this at all, that day. If my grandmother wanted to hug her husband but couldn't because of so many things. If he wanted a hug but couldn't ask for it for the same reasons. I'm thinking of that post I saw here a couple days ago, pointing out that men in movies get hugs when they're dead or dying—how extreme violence is the price men on the screen have to pay to be treated with tenderness.

How it's too close to being true in reality, too.

I hope, if I do manage to become a father, I'll be able to build a relationship with my child where they won't be afraid to hug me if they see me crying, even as an adult. At the very least, a relationship where they'll know the people I'll end up mourning for, even if from afar. I hope I can build a life where I can ask for a hug and have someone willing to give it to me.

my more in-depth answer is sets 100, the set design did not have to do all that but i love that they did. i have to say from the jump the dog made me so nervous but i really did think the dog thing would serve as a catalyst instead of the sawatari thing but they got me, double whammy.

i understand the ryo beef and i'm with you on it he really entered yuka into the competition, did all that, and then got mad about the consequences of his own actions...

i also can get why ppl would say it doesn't have a lot of rewatch value because it was fairly low-stakes and not too bombastic, but i also think there could be a lot to take in from future watch throughs anyway so...
