The art is lovely and now I'm gonna ramble because that's what I do when I care about something.

For the love of women, please PLEASE can fan artists remember to add muscle to their Shadowhunter ladies? I'll commend Bowater for cleverly giving James that sculpted and lean look without making him a beefcake (nothing against beefcakes, I'd love to hug them), but Cordelia is once again suffering from Arms And Shoulders Too Slender It's Hard To Even Imagine Her Picking Up A Sword. There is some there, yes, but artists shouldn't be afraid of giving particularly Female Main Characters weight and toned muscle. Cordelia is supposed to be nearly the same height as James as far as I can remember, and she's curvy, and full, and she wields a sword like it's second nature to her. Please explain why she looks so tiny in James' lap.

Also I'm pretty sure marriage runes are supposed to go over the heart whenever possible (thinking about Will's parabatai rune being over his heart instead -- he didn't get Tessa to draw over the scar, did he??) and... either I'm looking at the picture wrong or James' rune is not over where his heart should be.

For the matter, where are their other runes and scars?? James' Voyance rune isn't even on his hand. And I'm pretty sure he's right handed. I could have that wrong though.

Another thing: no one can ever decide what Cordelia's hair looks like and it's the funniest thing to me. This is what happens when all you do is vaguely say the colour is like fire but also like rose petals but also a flowing river of those things but also is Red (probably for redhead, but then from there I never understand where the rose petal analogy comes from considering the typical rose is a deep bloody colour -- I do acknowledge the existence of those light orange varieties though which might more closely resemble red hair). In the end, I'm glad readers can infer what they want and imagine the characters how they like.

Anyone else think James looks like he's built like a tennis player? Oddly specific, maybe, but it was a thought I had. Mostly the arms and somewhat narrow body.

James' hair is nice, his eyes are an interesting take on gold in the shadows. Bowater managed to also make him look closely related to his father, so bravo for that.

In the end, the focus is obviously on the marriage runes and not other physical aspects outside of it being clear that this is James and Cordelia. Bowater's style is very beautiful and elegant. Love the way fabric and lighting is done too. I'll add also that it is possible to be a smaller person who is slender but still strong so I mean Cordelia's not necessarily done wrong, I just interpret her appearance differently. Obviously, they're both hot and they're both attractive and I have my qualms with the series, chronicles, and author -- the fandom I am so-so on, though I'm still here, aren't I? And I'm taking the time to ramble about my thoughts on a piece of fanart -- but this is good. Gorgeous, even. Both James and Cordelia are beautiful.

my place to land. What is UP SIGNET/ECHO NATION, ALL FIVE OF YOU! I wrote a novel for my rare pair because i am actually three bodyguard AUs in a trench coat captaining the good ship I made up. Twilight Mirage is still my favorite fatt season, because it is exactly my aesthetic and also, Signet is there. This is still one of my favorite fics, even though I can think of many things that i would change upon a rewrite. I got a lot of amazing gift art from friends when I was updating it, too, and I treasure everyone who came to read it!! It is currently still the longest fic in the fatt tag, but not for long it does look like there is someone rapidly catching up with 74k on a 6/14 chapter fic. It was fun while it lasted! Unfortunately, twitter moments went kaput so I will have to figure out some other way to put all the wonderful fanart everyone made for me!

'til my lungs burn bright. Affectionately called my "regency magic spies AU" for Ace Attorney, specifically this is for AA4/Klapollo!! This is a sequel to a fic I haven't finished yet! (Someone encourage me to finish the main fic! it's what i'm supposed to be working on this month!!) I love this setting SO much and I loved making all the little references to in-game moments. Honestly I love everything I write because I am an audience of me first. Sharing my review on Sodor Fallout

Disclaimer: I'm not a reviewer, I've never tried reviewing any games, stories or TV shows before so buckle up and enjoy my cringe review. Please do not witch hunt harass the creator of the story.

It's been the past two in a half years since the Sodor Fallout fandom has died down (sort of). Yes, I may have drawn one piece of fanart of the AU (Donald's boiler explosion of course). If you want to see it, then it is here on my account, or you can go to my channel to watch my speedpaint. But I still have thoughts I want to share about the story. This will be one time I review this AU so starting off with the story.

I have no issue with chapters from March 5th to July 7th. It all started great. But there is something I want to speak about in chapter March 5, 1973: So according to the entry, the writer of the journal writes about Sir Topham Hatt signing an agreement about the nuclear power plant. But I want to be real here, specifically when the nuclear power plant was first built and when it was finished. In my personal opinion, Topham should have signed the agreement years ago, and then the construction started afterward. From my research, a nuclear power plant takes 5-7 years to build. Because it was built on a tiny island on Brendam, I don’t think a conventional reactor would ever be suited.

Again, I am skipping the whole thing to July 8th because I want to talk about Toby. Dear God, where do I begin? He is awful and ridiculously out of character. By the time I first read about him in SF, I was so confused about why he was like this? I get where the writer is coming from: making him completely scared, tearful, and worried for Henrietta. But it was way too horribly executed. When he told the story about the blast, why didn't he return back to Tidmouth with her? He knew where he put Henrietta and went to her towards the blast, but the fact that he wasn't in Tidmouth without her is ridiculous, which makes him a terrible partner or friend to Henrietta About fireface, why didn't anyone do anything to stop it or kill it when it was tormenting Toby and encouraging him to game over himself? Sidney, Charlie, Leonard, Topham. They're all cowards for not doing anything to stop. Where was Toby's crew at? Did they run away after he went off trying to find Henrietta? Nowhere to be seen. Toby's death is really pathetic and really pointless when Henrietta is confirmed to be okay when, in this chapter, it mentions that engines made of wood are not affected by radiation. Trucks who are made of wood are affected by the blast, except Toby and Henrietta don't make any sense. Again, Toby's death is very pathetic and pointless , and it was so much wasted potential from him.

Skipping to the end of the chapter where Topham interrogated the person who was one of P.T Boomer's guys, the guy mentioned that the nuclear explosion was a hoax this whole time and the real truth was that bombs were placed around the power plant which creates explosions with injections that will mutate engines with grey faces: This plot twist right here, killed the whole plot and the title of this story as well as killing the reader's hype about the future chapters. This is what I hate everything about thThe hoax reveal. The reader wants to read the whole thing about Fallout. It's not “Sodor Mysterious Chemical” or “Injection.” It's “Sodor Fallout” is what the reader was reading about.

Stuff I want to point out: This story has a lack of emotions except for Edward’s reaction to Trevor's death and Topham mourning for Toby. But Edward and Henry’s reaction to Percy's demise is bland. When they found him suffering, they were like, “oh… okay.” Even nobody didn't inform Thomas and Topham that Percy was long gone. You know, Thomas' closest friend. I love how Thomas and Edward didn't get any reaction to Toby K wording himself except Topham. All of that was over when Mavis and Daisy arrived at Tidmouth and they had no time to grieve for Toby so forget him! They have shit to focus on next!

When the war on Brendam Docks happened before the blast, how come Donald (before he died) and BoCo were completely okay when there were chemicals around the area. When James and Gordon ran into the chemicals in the wrong direction, they got mutated, but Donald and BoCo also didn't make any sense at all. Speaking of Donald, I wonder how he survived the crash on July 4, then went to Brendam Docks with his boiler dry completely fine before he died. When BoCo saw James completely derailed, how did he pull him on the tracks without a breakdown crane? Magic I guess lmao. It's so funny how Edward and the beast never encountered each other. The beast only appeared once only to kill Fredrick, who we don't even know who he is. His name is just mentioned, and he dies. Never to be seen. Cedric and Jem Cole were never mentioned as well. Gordon speeds past by and never to be seen and probably dies from the crash. From the beginning of the July 4th chapter, how did the sky turn red when the power plant exploded? I have no clue.

Pros: Cons I dislike about Sodor Fallout aside, there are some pros that I really like.

The concept of the power plant seems good on paper, but it could have more potential. I love how in Topham’s story, he finds Thomas mutated in his shed and was beside him. He even cleared out the trucks from the turntable by using a breakdown crane for Thomas to let through. And I love and absolutely love how Topham was lying in his cab just shows how much he cared about him. On April 10th, I loved how Thomas felt comforted by his driver, Edward, and his crew, which was a touching moment! I heard there was Douglas’ sacrifice from the old SF videos I watched on YouTube, and even though that wasn't canon, I actually loved that. He was grieving over the death of his twin, and then he wanted to use fuel tankers to put an end to the beast. Not only that, Douglas wants to be with Donald, which was really heartbreaking, and I loved it from someone whose favorite characters are the Scottish twins!

Well that was my review. I don't like it. The first 6 chapters start off good until Toby's appearance on July 8th and the interrogation scene. The hoax plot twist is extremely stupid, defeating the whole title and plot of the story. The good ones I only liked were Thomas’ wholesome moments and Douglas' non canon sacrifice.

I'm so grateful and I have no idea why there is so many of you since I have no talent in drawing, I don’t talk about any top 5 main character from Naruto, I love an old 90 years grumpy guy with unkempt hair and eyes bags, I have ZERO interest in ship, fandom drama makes me sleep... but here you are, thank you so much ! A lot of amazing people from literally the 5 continents with so many talents, I enjoy every conversations in public, in private or anon. Let’s carry on for an other year. We can double that number, let’s reach 800 people for december 2023 !

321 posts I’ve written in a year. Mostly analysis. Solely focus on Madara’s canon, the Warring state Era period, the cultural background, Kishimoto’s possible source of inspirations. You know the most funny part, last year when I started this blog from scratches, I thought that considering the small amount of informations about the founders, I won’t make more that two or three posts, 5 MAXIMUM. How delusional I was...

31K words. 6 chapters. That’s where I am now with my fanfic Madara golden age. It’s a personal pride to have gone so far considering english is not my mother tongue. It still asks me tremendous efforts to be able to convey ideas in my head into a grammatically readable plot. But I’m passionate about it, I love what I did so far, and I want to do even better next year.

What's coming next?

More fanfictions! I've realised this year that writing story is what I love the most. Madara Golden age is my top priority in 2023. You know by now that it takes me a month or two to write a chapter. It's a slow machine but don't worry I'm hell-bent determinate to finish it. And also I can already announce that I have in mind a trilogy. MGA is the seinen, the second book will be a shojo/romance, the third one a shonen. So I'll be busy writing for some years ahead !

More fanart. I know I talk about it often, but I really want to draw. that's a new challenge because I have no idea where to start but I'm seeing so much beautiful fanart of Madara I'm curious if I'm able to do something. Wish me luck !

Fictional astrology birth chart. You remember I did it first to Madara? I would like to do it for the founders Hashirama and Tobirama and some important Uchiha members like Sasuke, Obito and Itachi.

Less analysis of the canon. I think so far I've analysed in details most of Madara's life and plot holes. I might add some stuff about tiny details now and there but most of what I needed to say are here in my Madarapedia page. So 2023 is less blabla on tumblr, more silent creative content!

More discord events. If you want to chit chat with me in daily basis, you gotta come in the Madara protection squad. It's like entering a pub with other drunk Madara addicts talking about the same stuff over and over again and never being bored. We also have a writing club, where everyone is invited if you need a place to share your fanfic, having some feedback and some advices. Can we talk about how much Ngozi’s art changed just over the first year??

YES, we can.

ngozi's art style changed a lot over all four years (by which I mean... seven years, irl). it matured the most throughout year 1, became sharp and fine-tuned between years 2 and 3, and then became more efficient throughout year 4.

it's literally impossible not to notice what drawing hundreds of comic pages did to her lines. they're much steadier, finer, and she has a lot more control over her movements, which makes the characters look less bulky [left], and more fluid and natural-looking [right]. but maybe the BIGGEST change is in the coloring. the first half of year 1 was flat and unsaturated, with minimal play of shadows and depth. in the second half of year 1 the color palette for each character was finalized, and is a lot richer than in the beginning.

this skill set also extends to angles: while on the left blurry lines are utilized to mimic perception, bitty still looks more or less in the same dimension as the background. on the right the angles, shadows and proportions do that work, and it's clear that bitty is standing closer to the viewer than the window.

and perhaps inevitably - ngozi just became a better comic artist. bitty's facial expressions in the beginning are exaggerated and unrealistic (to serve a specific goal), but as the year progresses ngozi managed to express micro-expressions far better, and tiny shifts could suddenly convey fear, or shock, or pain.

the changes between year 2 and year 3 are the least obvious. I'm almost tempted to throw in here the matter of technological advancements - there are exactly two years between these two updates, and things like photoshop versions or new editing apps can mean a lot in art quality.

but regardless, you can see those same things still getting better (albeit less dramatically). around year 3 ngozi stopped color blocking and started using more gradients, which gave even more depth to the characters' appearance; her lines were still getting finer; and drawing even MORE comic pages means the characters' fluidity is now perfected, and their poses are less comic-y and almost completely natural.

if it isn't obvious: year 3 is my fave, art-wise.

in year 4 we see a reversion. if you look closely (or even not that closely) you can see ngozi went back from using gradients to using color-blocking, and the lineart is more reminiscent of year 2 than it is of year 3 (heavier, less integrated with the coloring). still, the quality of the art makes it clear that this is not a reversion of skill; this is a conscious choice.

I have some theories about this choice - all revolving around the fact that coloring is incredibly time-consuming, and omgcp was already taking longer to complete than probably anticipated. maybe people who were here before me heard about it on patreon and could correct me, but my guess is that either she was working on other projects at the same time, and this art style is quicker, more efficient and requires less laser-precision to complete, or, possibly, she hired someone to help her do the coloring (which isn't unheard of nor unreasonable, when you're putting out SO MUCH art), and it'd be nearly impossible for them to get close enough to her style so she had to simplify it. this possibility is reasonable, but considering that she was still doing fanart for fun in other fandoms, also less likely.

all these changes mean that year 4 is neater and cleaner in appearance than year 2 or 3, and some slight changes to the color palettes also help smooth things out.

Thank you for all your kind words. And lol when I said I rarely read RPS fics but I do sometimes, I was basically referring to Annie Vi. Her fics are amazing! I was sent Like Everything Glows by a friend saying I know you don't really read a lot of jikook fics, but you HAVE to read this one. It's right up your ally and it's so good. And I fell in love with her writing style and storytelling. Lol it's never too over the top. I actually even sent it (Like Everything Glows) to a friend who isn't ARMY in my book club and said, ignoring the fact that it's RPS fanfic and you don't even know the fandom, tell me that she couldn't just change the names/characterizations a tiny bit and publish this and do VERY WELL. She agreed with me, it was excellent. So I read Annie's fics when they are completed (I like to binge read my fics/books, not wait for a ch a week lol) so I do like her stuff. People created so much fanart for her too. I swear, I'm just waiting for her to decide to delete all her stuff off AO3 and it start popping up changed into OG Chatacters and start selling in bookstores. I'd buy some of them for sure.

also idk if you know this but emily and murph are married! they have a separate dnd podcast called not another dnd podcast (naddpod) where murph is the dm. sometimes they have the d20 cast guest star. super fun and it’s free, but not actual play!

other seasons of d20 i’d recommend are fantasy high (it’s 2 seasons and it has 2 spin-off series: the seven and pirates of leviathan. brennan’s wife, izzy, is among the cast of the seven!), tiny heist, and starstruck odyssey (based off a comic series of the same name that brennan’s mom wrote in the 80s).

I don't think many people here know that I have an on going NaruIno fic on ao3, but in case anyone is interested, it's called Loud Affairs and it has a tiny dash of SasuSaku in the background:

I think I should answer your question though, just to give some insight why I like to add NaruIno in my fics and how it started.

The first ask:

I don't mean this in a mean way, but why do you and a lot of other sasusaku ff writers like naruino?😅 the ship is kinda random to me but I more often than not see them paired together in various sasusaku fanfics. (I mean I get their best friends with sasuke and sakura but I just don't feel there's any chemistry between the two). It usually throws me off a bit bc of the immense amount of hate other crack ships like sasuhina get from our fandom.

I don't know about other writers, but my interest really started with a thread on Twitter one day a couple years ago. Before that, I've read many fics where they were side-paired and enjoyed the outcome, but that was about it then.

That day on Twitter, there were a few fanarts shared around and other SasuSaku accounts commenting positive things about it, and those tweets reached me and a few other friends. The fanart was hot and made me think about their aesthetics together. Eventually that week, we were all discussing things along the line: "Two blue-eyed, loud, blonds together, that are best friends with Sakura and Sasuke, and would probably meddle in their relationship and bicker a lot."

From that + more fanarts popping up after, I thought, how can I make this work? Can I make this hot and fun? And then I tried and it worked well enough for me haha. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I really enjoyed dabbling with these two blonds, bestfriends of my OTP. It's a lot of fun! I enjoyed writing a different couple dynamic and interactions, play with their backgrounds and how their friendships influence the relationship. Since then, it became second nature to add them in my stories, like a sister ship. 😉

In the end, I wouldn't say that I really ship NaruIno, at least not like actively reading fics or being extremely dedicated as I am with Sasusaku. I just like them together as a side pairing. They look good - they are aesthetically pleasing together - and are fun!

Anyway, I'm a ship and let ship person, and I hope this doesn't throw anyone off here. 😊

Tbh that shit I was ranting about in the tags of that one post, about why I feel alienated from artist communities online, is a huge part of why I hate the way the word "entitlement" (derogatory) has no set meaning

Because on the one hand, in fandom spaces especially, there are a lot of people who act...for lack of a better term, super fucking entitled to an endless stream of free content that caters to their exact specific tastes and get really pissy if you dare to create anything for YOURSELF rather than for THEM and excuse you how DARE you make an AU or have a different headcanon--

On the other hand, holy fucking shit, online artist communities...I've been in and out of them for over a decade and the level of drama and blatant hypocrisy I've seen is off the fucking charts. Love how many FANartists are so aggressive about copyright that they'll accuse someone of stealing their OC for having a vaguely similar and very common color palette. Who will talk about all their influences and then stick "DO NOT TAKE INSPIRATION FROM MY WORK" on their profiles - and that's not hyperbole, I've seen it, verbatim! If I had a dollar for every fucking artist I've seen who thought they were the sole true owner of an extremely generic composition...well, I'd definitely have a nice set of ring splints by now. Dare I even mention the omegaverse lawsuit?

And the thing is, the people who take these attitudes to these extremes are a tiny, TINY minority - but...they're loud enough to have an impact on others. Even if it's not to such an extreme as "I can't believe I have to stop my pirated movie marathon to file another DMCA, how could this person really think they could get away with it, an OC with blue hair and angel wings is MY idea!" there's still a pervasive attitude of "copyright maximalism for me, but minimalism for everyone I can argue is Bigger than me" that really goes unquestioned in a lot of these spaces. Similarly, between that horrible loud minority in fandom and corporate Astroturfing fandom spaces, it really feels like a lot of non-fanartists see fanart as being part of the actual canon, that just springs forth fully formed from the ether, even in spaces where people...nominally know better

So some people will treat hobby art like a side hustle in the sense of "well with the state of the economy today everyone could use more security so if you're gonna act like I'm here to provide YOU a service, fuck off, pay me" which is honestly totally fair, and some will just be hopeful that people will be generous toward people who make them happy but not have any expectations or demands thereof which is also cool, and some will sell actual goods and services which is totally fine, and some people will press the fact that if you want other people to make fan work that caters to you personally then commissioning them will be a lot more effective than just complaining that you're right and they're wrong and just generally being a giant penis, which is also completely true and fair, but others will indeed have every ounce of leftism just leave their bodies when you point out that drawing blorbo from your shows doesn't make them uniquely MORE deserving of survival than anyone else/that the people they're complaining about "stealing [their] jobs" and even the "lazy consumers" need to eat too, or ask them to examine their beliefs about IP law for internal consistency and stop equating legality to morality whenever it benefits them, or even just come up with a meaningful set of standards for what constitutes small enough to be "sacred" vs. big enough that derivative work is inevitable (ask me about what I call the Mario Kart model of copyright, that I propose until art is no longer a Market under capitalism)

And some people will be critical of the Patreon/Ko-fi/etc. economy and the flaws of the culture in online artist spaces for those reasons...but others will be critical of it because they're really really mad that those uppity snobs don't know their place and need to just make pretty things for them to mindlessly consume without even so much as a moment of basic human connection beyond hitting a button, or that they themselves aren't popular enough on the internet to get any kind of mutual aid...in the kind of way where they'd throw everyone like themselves under the bus just as hard if their own internet identity became Marketable enough; the problem isn't that PEOPLE in general get left out of this "merit"-based model but the fact that THEY PERSONALLY do

And all of the above will call some or all of the attitudes across the gap "entitled" and from that word there's no way to fucking tell whether the complaint is rational or not

And it's honestly one of my least favorite things about internet culture

Phew, that one really is a tough question. Because of the nature of the small fandom and the pairing all of the comments that are shared are very special on their own.

The comments on the very first chapter of "Last Chance" though will probably have a very special place in my tiny heart.

Just because of the fact that I have never posted anything before storywise in my life, only ever wrote things down to get them put of my head but never shared them. But then the Tatort Hamburg episode "Schattenleben" touched me so deeply that I just wrote a piece of something. And did not expect to receive anything. But what I got back through the comments was so much more treasured. I re-discovered the joy of wroting that I had lost for a very long time as well aß the courage to post it online and see how others like the ideas that are constantly Rundung theough my head. And for that I am very grateful.

I'm just very thankful for all the lovely words.

@caromitpunkt @disappointingsalad @MJ & you always leave so generous words that keeps the re-found passion alive and going.

I got a comment from a person who mentioned that they usually just read and don't comment but couldn't resist because they enjoyed "Last Chance" so much, that was very lovely and really made my day 😊.

It's really cool when people point out their favorite lines or scenes or some of the details I put in (longer) stories once in a while.

If someone comnents they like the writing style that is allways nice because I really just write what I think and comes to my mind but never really had any education about it.

I love your comments @except4bunnies and input, because you are always very encouraging and share point of views that I probably haven't considered and I like to see stuff from another angle (your angle) and the open exchange that developes through that. For example if storylines or scenes that I decided on are realistic for certain characters. Not only about stories but also all FW things considered. I know you are quite alright with the canon version of Julia as it is and so I really apprecite that you still bear with my Tinia madness 😊.

The comments of @kuestenkindimherzen are always so heartwarming and escalating and I really love and am happy to have someone to share the Tinia madness with 🥰🙈.

In general I'm just very grateful for every single comment and everyone who shares their thoughts on stories, just because I like my ideas doesn't neccssarily mean they are awesome. So its nice to see if I can catch one emotion or another in a reader that I definitely had when writing scenes.

I would so love to see a fanvid of Julia Grosz to the music of Sigur Rós 😊. It would be even more perfect with Tine Geissler 🥰. That would really make my day, okay probably my whole year 😅✌🏼.

There is one scene from "Happiness" right at the beginning when Julia wakes up in the morning with Tine in her arms, their hands resting intertwined over Tines stomach. Kuestenkindimherzen commented that she would love to get a painting of that exact scene. And I can only agree wholeheartedly to that, I would very much love that too 🥰❤️.

Then there is that dance scene between Julia and Tine in "Last Christmas" at a police christmas party to Scalas version of "Last Christmas" that felt very special to me while writing it. I don't even know if that sparked as much joy for readers as it did for me while I imagined it in my head 🙈.

In the end, I would just be happy to get any Julia & Tine content at all 😅🥰❤️.

I agree with most thing you say, and I think you address many important points, however, there is one thing that has been annoying me a little recently.

Why do you always accuse people who dislike Nadia of being sexist and racist?

Look, I understand that a lot of the time this is the case, but I'd like to maintain at least a tiny spec of faith in humanity and assume that this isn't the majority.

Using myself as an example, I do have to admit that Nadia was never one of my favourite LIs and yet I will still keep saying that she IS an absolute badass! She's powerful and determined and so so cool!

And yet, she does have character flaws that bother me a little more than the flaws of other characters, such as:

- her initial hatred towards her sisters (I know this changes by the end of her route, but it really did bother me in the moment and created somewhat a distaste to her, I will admit this might be because I am an eldest sibling and she sounded exactly like my younger siblings).

and

- her almost pedantic perfectionism (yes, once again, this changes by the end of the route, but only slightly in my opinion. I still felt like she had a need for major control over every situation, which is understandable considering her position in society, and yet is simply a pet peeve of mine).

I don't believe these things annoy me because she's a woman of colour in a position of power but rather because they are simply character flaws that I dislike no matter which character they belong to.

Just to reiterate the main thing I am trying to get answered here is why are you so persistent about these theories that racists and sexists don't like Nadia? I'm not trying to toot my own horn or be a 'its not all...' type of person. I am simply saying that you really are trying to push this idea across and I'm not entirely sure I can agree. I haven't seen many- if any at all- post putting Nadia down because of her race and gender, or at least I have never interpreted them that way. By no means do I mean to belittle or disregard what you're saying, because I do believe that problems like this should be tackled, but perhaps you are interpreting most of the Nadia hate as something it's not. Or perhaps I am not reading into it enough and try my best to maintain some belief in this community, causing me to miss the blatant racism and sexism.

Hi there, thank you for sending me this question. I appreciate having the opportunity to better explain some of these issues. The first thing I would like to point out is that it's okay to not prefer Nadia compared to the other characters, or even not like her. That's fine. Having preferences is not the issue here. The problem is that Nadia is largely ignored compared to the other love interests. Knowing that Nadia is a woman of color (the only WOC love interest), it's very telling that she is always the one who gets excluded and sidelined. I know that this fandom has issues with racism and sexism. When you spend enough time looking at the patterns of how characters are treated, you see it. Take for example, how many times people whitewash Asra in fanart.

The other thing is that a lot of people dislike Nadia for reasons that link to stereotypes and biases against women of color. People tend to paint her as mean, stern and bossy. I strongly suspect that people who mischaracterize her like that are leaning into stereotypes about women in power and further, women of color in power. Think about how from young ages, girls who take leadership roles are called "bossy" while boys are praised for being assertive. People seem willing to make these sweeping generalizations about the kind of character she is without really backing it up with evidence from her route. It's more subtle than "I dislike Nadia because she's a woman," it's deeper and more insidious. She always seems to fall into the background, too. There's a major lack of interaction with her character and interest in her route.

I recognize that there are times where perhaps I have been too aggressive in calling out racism and sexism without explaining why I feel the situation warrants it. However, to myself and others in this fandom (particularly the people of color who do a lot of work in calling out this behavior, whose example I always strive to follow), it is abundantly clear that these issues exist in all fandoms and it's not surprising that it affects us here in the Arcana fandom too. I recognize that it may be helpful for me to elaborate on these issues more but my goal has always been to help people confront their personal biases when they see my posts. I hope that seeing something like my Nadia character sheet allows people to understand how complex and flawed she is. She's not a one-dimensional girlboss or a passive victim of Lucio. My goal is always that people will look at my page and start to think beyond the stereotypes that surround the fanon discussion of Nadia.

Just for the sake of brevity, I decided to not address the specific issues you have with Nadia. However, please know if there are things you (or anyone else) want to talk about, my inbox and DMs are open. I hoped this helped.

I feel DY is the only hyung JH is consistently, simultaneously cheeky with and looking out for all these years 😩 JH is a kind person ofc and he takes care of other hyungs too and teases them sometimes but with DY, it's just *more*. I agree with you that if we compare, JH still keeps some Neos at arms length. I'm not underrating their friendships and they range from good colleagues to good friends but yeah that's how it is?? And even when JaeDo were more low-key a few years ago, no bad kind of tension?? Some Neos flirt and tease a lot like JHNNY and HC but the fact JH is consistently like this only to DY does it for me. Wish more fans would stop underrating JaeDo's friendship (regardless of shipping them or not) and consider the big picture. Not just looking at their certain ships without observing and comparing dynamics with others'.

Many people are bad at reading situations. They notice only certain moments or character traits and make up everything else. Plus, there are 9 members in the unit, it's impossible to look at everyone at once, pay attention to all interactions, memorize them.

Getting to know a group requires a lot of commitment. I listen to Dream's music and watch their dance practices and some interviews/shows here and there, but I don't know Dreamies or their dynamics well. It took me several years to see Taeil's "black hole" charm and start to like him (in part, thanks to some of his good stans). NCT has a lot of fans, from kids to grown-ups. And many fans are in the fandom for the fandom (socializing, fanwars, scandals, fanfics, fanart), not for the music or even the members. Idols are means to finding similar-minded people or people with the same interests, a common topic. Fans with this mindset spend more time talking to each other and drooling over pictures or cracking up jokes, than contemplating about the idols' characters or observing the relationships they have with their co-members. After all, all idols are "a lie" and "we will never know their real selves", so why bother?

I guess we expect people who are very opinionated, proclamatory, active to well know their biases, their "subject". Alas, the loudest people are usually the least knowledgeable. And loving something/someone doesn't equal knowing it/him/her. Some vegan people want to feed their cats with vegan food despite cats being obligatory carnivores (they can digest only protein and just a tiny bit of carbohydrates, i.e. they will die without meat).

There are millions of fans, they can't all be the same. You also can't change most of them. I think the only way is to be active oneself. Make your own narrative, insist on your approach. Take @nctdaoying, when there is a scandal or accusations, she retwits old interview bits to remind people about the truth. What Do really said, what members really think about him. 100k of people follow her acc for her translations and news, the impact of her "reactions" is much more than a one-on-one squabble with an anti.

Have I finished my reorganization? *shifty eyes* No, but! See... *shuffles feet* I got distracted by the shiny dopamine and... well... I’m still working on it. 😝 Have some more orb WIP!

I'm working on how to display it... and this is still definitely a rough/1st draft, though the only one that will weigh this much (2.52 lb. / 1.14 kg)... and yeah, I've got plans for at least one more (I want to be able to make a mold of it so I can also make bookends) and already have an aluminum foil core ready.

I know "they” say “the DA fandom is dying” because it’s been so long since the last game was released but... y’all... Y’all are putting out so much great fanart and fanfic and screenshots and fanvids and the volume is simply astounding.

I read fast... I read A LOT... and I can’t keep up with just the Solasmancing side of the fandom.

I think “they” are full of shit.

On Commenting

I used to be one of those readers who just left Kudos on fics and very, VERY rarely commented.

Then, because of some of the posts I’ve seen here (and on Twitter), I started trying to at least leave a heart, or other, emoji comment on chapter updates for fics I subscribe to; sometimes using gifs, occasionally leaving longer comments, and commenting on one-shots.

I'm still mostly at that point but, thinking about those posts more, I am starting to try to leave comments on multi-chapter fics as I go (struggling, but trying); even if some of the chapter comments I leave are “just heart emojis,” when my spoons are low or I have no words (I’m not usually good with words). The feedback from writers has been, honestly, both heartwarming & heartbreaking.

Fanfic writers, of every caliber, are sharing a gift with us every time they post. And they are so appreciative of, what feels to me like, tiny crumbs of feedback. It blows my mind a little.

I mean, long comments filled with “I loved x” or “that phrasing there was so amazing” or “so and so tied back to y chapters and xyz and I can’t believe...” have got to be even better to receive, so if you can do that... please do.

But I’ve seen, firsthand, that even tiny, consistent, comments can make a big impact on someone’s day.

So toss a heart to your writers.

I am honestly not that invested in actor/discourse drama but I am more sensitive when it comes to covid stuff which is why I asked.

I'm glad I was able to clarify! And yes, sadly I did mean it quite literally when I called him an idiot. Obviously I don't know him, I've never spoken to him or anything, so I could be completely wrong in my "interpretation" of him. I don't know.

Trust me when I say that I am quite sensitive when it comes to covid as well. I'm tripple vaccinated, I still wear masks, I still social distance as much as I can, and I get horribly annoyed with people who just act like this is nothing or "just a tiny flu" and take no precautions at all.

But I also try not to get too sucked into the drama of actors or the fandom anymore, because I know it makes me very anxious and deeply unhappy. In previous fandoms there were times when I was way too involved in it all and it left a very bad aftertaste in my mouth and now I just try to protect myself against it.
