I'm gonna take a stab at creating an alternate definition of the word delusion, since I'm not a fan of the one commonly used in a medical context. This is gonna deal with some unreality and paranoia-inducing stuff, so read at your own risk.

The definition most commonly used for delusion is a false belief that a person can't be persuaded isn't real or true, even if they're shown evidence to the contrary. This is a flawed definition for a number of reasons, chief among them that sometimes people are just wrong and stubborn about it. We know that it can be incredibly difficult for people to change their minds once they're personally invested in an idea, but that's not the same as being delusional. A person who still believes vaccines cause autism probably isn't delusional, they're just personally invested in the idea because it validates their view that autism is bad and gives them a scapegoat to blame for the existence of autistic people. That's an ideology, not a delusion.

Another flaw is that some things can't necessarily be confirmed to be untrue. One of the most well-known (and commonly mocked) delusions is some variation of "the government is spying on me". This isn't something that's easily verified as either true on untrue, and it's also something that literally does happen to people. I live in the US, where we know the government spies on people. We know that in the wake of 9/11, US intelligence agencies undertook a massive campaign of surveillance of Muslim and Middle Eastern people living in the US. So "the government is spying on me" might not actually be a false belief, and you probably can't know that for sure.

Attempting to rely on a belief being false can be dangerous, too. I remember reading the story of a person who was labelled as delusional for saying Obama followed them on Twitter, and was incarcerated in a psych ward until they lied and said they'd realized they were delusional and Obama didn't follow them. The thing is, he did. It was true and verifiable, but the medical professional evaluating them refused to check if it was true so they didn't "encourage the delusion". Sane people tend to believe they have an absolute and correct understand of reality, and a lot of them would rather call you delusional than adjust their worldview. And if that person is a medical professional, they can completely turn your life upside down and stick you in conditions that the UN has called torture.

So here's my proposed alternative: a delusion is an involuntary belief that isn't rooted in logic or evidence, and that a person can't stop believing even if they know it isn't true.

Let's break that down. The involuntary part is important. Delusional people don't have control over our delusions. We don't believe them because we want to or because we think they're true, we just believe them. It's true that delusions can draw on voluntary beliefs, including bigotry, but believing the delusion isn't a choice. We can't just stop. In the case of delusions rooted in bigotry, the person is still responsible for holding those bigoted beliefs in the first place, even though they don't have control of the delusion that came from them. This is an important caveat, because people love to call bigots delusional for things they chose to believe.

The second part is that it's not rooted in any kind of logic or evidence. If a person believes something untrue due to faulty logic and/or misinformation, that's not a delusion. That's called being wrong.

Lastly, I chose the wording "even if they know it's not true" very deliberately. Some delusional people know, either always or sometimes, that our delusions aren't real or true. I personally always know, but that never stops me believing them. If you've never experienced this, it can be hard to imagine what it feels like to know something isn't true and still be unable to stop believing in it. It's contradictory and confusing and really hard to put into words. Of course, there are also delusional people who don't know their delusions aren't true, or who're confused and can't figure it out. It's not the same for everyone. This part of the definition also covers being presented evidence and being unable to accept it as true.

For some people, being told their delusions aren't true can also be extremely distressing and even push them further into it. Never reality check a delusional person unless they ask you to, or it's part of a crisis plan you made with them. The same goes for playing into or confirming a delusion. Do your best to remain neutral on whether or not their belief is true, and try to focus more on their emotions and how it's affecting them. If you know a psychotic person, it's a good idea to ask them (preferably while they're not having a psychotic episode) how they'd like you to handle it.

I'm open to critique from other psychotic people, but if you're aggressive or mean I'll probably just ignore you. This is just an idea, a rough draft, and I'd like to know what the community thinks. Nonpsychotics can reblog, but keep your thoughts to yourself

How do you think the yandere turtles would be if they were raised by draxum? Like how would their yandere tendencies be different? (Totally not asking this bc I have a request around the draxum au and I have no idea what to do)

Okay i sometimes wonder about the same thing actually. Like sure, their violent tendencies would be increased tenfold (or even more, who knows) but they might face their human darling with a little disdain and condescension. It would take quite a bit to get them to not only want to protect a human, but love and cherish them despite having been raised to want to destroy them wholly.

Raph would definitely be more temperamental and violent, but he'd have a stronger love for yokai-kind and animals in general. Instead of wrestling, he might end up being very invested in the Battle Nexus and the violence that goes on in there, being the most likely to partake in tournaments for the 'glory and victory' aspect of it, but also because he thinks fighting in general is fun. His darling might either be a yokai or generally, a really weak human. He's the most likely to infantilize his darling, oftentimes babying them and insisting they can't do anything without his help (this applies especially if y/n is a human) He would respect them a little more if they were a yokai, but he'd get overprotective and jealous rather quickly.

Donnie would be the most invested in Draxum's work. He easily grows to become his lab partner, and his ego is only worsened by Draxum's praise and validation. (I secretly think that Draxum would be a slightly better parent than Splinter but I digress) His brothers hate him being quote on quote, Draxum's boot licker. but eventually he grows out of Draxum's validation and tries to find it from other sources. So when he finds y/n, he's pretty desperate for recognition, and even more so if they're a human. He doesn't imagine a human could ever be as capable, smart or talented as him or his kind, and he believes they should act accordingly. He essentially tries to get his darling to be his boot-licker (figuratively and maybe literally :3) He's a pretty patient yandere as well, but he becomes rather sadistic and violent when he's constantly having to force his darling to love him. Overall, an unpleasant yandere unless you're a total masochist.

Leo however... he is still the voice of reason in the team, but he's more likely to venture out into the human realm to 'know more about what he's going to wipe out' compared to the others. He's of course, the least favourite but we all know that. Draxum hates his cockiness, and so he'll tone it up to the extreme just to spite him. He is however, very compliant and lenient to his darling. In the Draxum au, he'd be the most bearable and highly recommended yandere out of the four brothers (imo) He'd purposely treat his darling well and keep them alive all for the sake of going against Draxum, so it's best if his darling manages to pit the two against each other.

Mikey? He's still a ball of sunshine and the loosest cannon in the family, probably being the reason why Draxum hasn't killed Leo yet. Knows how to get on Draxum's good side, and ultimately takes advantage of this when he obtains a darling. He's the most confident in bringing his darling home knowing that somehow, one way or another, the family will just accept it. The kidnapping would happen pretty quickly, and he's just as delusional as he'd be with splinter. He's somewhat tolerable as a yandere, but he is the most likely to dish out the worst punishments if his darling ever misbehaves. He did learn from Draxum after all.

That's all I got for now, I think I could expand more on it, but my shoulder is sore from my massage appointment earlier and I'm going to need a teeny tiny break for that :))

Could you explain a bit better what you meant with this sentence about your thoughts on jikook?

What I meant was how can I be absolutely convinced that my perception and understanding of what I see is right when there's so much information that I don't know. Big puzzle pieces missing because I don't have access to them and I shouldn't anyway.

I too see what so many people who ship/support Jikook see. Of course I can say that I'm not blind, it's so obvious that both of them leave a certain impression that leads people to believe they are/might be in a relationship together. And we say that based on what we see and our own understanding of relationships. Wether we are in one ourselves or maybe we recognize the romance signs from those around us or from fiction. The point is, most of us are able to identity certain markers that can indicate that. I'm starting to sound way too technical by using this language, ugh. Anon, we all know what love is or what it looks like. The same with attraction. That's it. It's that simple. And we see it when we look at other people, be it on the street, in a cafe, at the cinema or on the screen.

But does this mean there are no chances of us being wrong? Of course there are. We show our social self to the world and we perform our own self and in connection to others. And it differs depending of where we find ourselves in private or public spheres.

In that case, Jimin and Jungkook have this entire life outside of what we see and most importantly what they want us to see and what not. They have friends and acquitances we have no idea about. Maybe they spend their day with those people on an almost daily basis and we wouldn't know because perhaps there are no photos. You see what I mean?

Nevertheless, shipping within common sense is fine. It's about having fun and getting giddy at seeing how they are together and thinking there is more to it. But of course it's not always like that. It's more of an ideal situation in which not many people find themselves in. The rest are invested. Which on a surface level would be easy to criticize or mock, but aren't all fans invested, regardless of their interests in BTS and their role in the fandom? There's that common understanding that the group showed up in people's lives when they needed it. And while it is true in a positive sense, it also showed up when people are having some unfulfilled emotional needs. That's not something to feel ashamed about. We humans can be so miserable and unhappy and depressed more and more and we see it everywhere. That's another facet of getting into the fandom and consequently going down the shipping/supporting road. Because whether we are sad or happy with our lives, we are still sappy and in love with the idea of love. And we go down the rabbit hole and it feels so nice. Until it doesn't and suddenly it's ugly and some people want out. They get miserable and instead of making their peace with it, they send anon asks that start with "I'm an ex-jikooker" and so on.

Anyway, bear with me, I'm close to having a conclusion to all this. So, what does this mean? Should we all have or always express some doubt because we have to be anchored in reality? So we don't find ourselves being called delusional or sick for believing something so simple as two people who might be in love? No. And you know why I don't feel guilty? Because I'm not the one doing it. I'm not the one behaving in a way that makes people believe I may be in love with my bandmate. I'm not the one ok with having that being made public or have flirty conversations on public platforms. And they are also not idiots. Let's be very clear about that. They are not. If we can draw conclusions so easily based on everything we see, rest assured they too are aware of how they come across. They are not some rookie idols six months into their debut at 15 years old. They are adults and this is the image they are fine with projecting. Be it real or not. Me or you and everyone else who is interested in them will see it. And if turns out we were wrong, two things to have in mind. Some people will feel shitty for various reasons. Some selfish and crazy, but a more common one would be having to accept that our beliefs are wrong, that we spent time and time again talking and thinking about something that made sense, based on logic and all of a sudden, it is not. But that's something each has to deal with.

What it is very important to note though, is that this is not a one way street. Opinions were made based on content and things those two people have said to each other and about each other. If one is delusional for drawing conclusions it's also because Jimin and Jungkook had their contribution to it. What we do with that is entirely our own responsibility. Some go bat shit crazy, like a group did when holding hands on the street of Paris was the rave for a few days and others will have other reactions. But let's not demonize fans completely and diminish the role of those who are actively offering the "material".

Seeing so many people in the fandom holding their breath waiting for "jikook to be debunked" is a lot more pathetic than those who ship them. I wonder if that same expectation is there for all the other ships that involve Jimin and Jungkook. My guess is not, which tells you a lot. It's a waiting game that is done through sending the same ill intentioned ask to bloggers to rile them up. It's making blogs or turning them into spaces for ex-jikookers. It's about making polls to have shippers and ex-shippers talk about how they would react when/if it ends. It's a game in which there is the need to win. Those who are not enjoying or aren't directly involved are not only eager to participate, but they are the ones who create the games, which says a lot more about how this one damn ship can really affect people from all corners of the fandom.

Update on my anti-Byler bestie

Here's the post if you missed it.

First of all, thank you to everyone who shared their favourite Byler evidence, it made me very happy and it was funny sharing it with my friend.

Now, unfortunately my friend cannot be convinced. I'm autistic and have trouble understanding people's intentions and feelings, so I can't tell if he's being fully serious, half serious, or completely unserious, but to me it seems most like half serious. He's strongly in denial and won't really give me a reason as to why, he just says, "No, not happening."

So there's no getting to him, he believes without a doubt that Byler isn't happening (and said he'll start a riot if it does happen, but Idk if he was serious). And he says he's going to find evidence, but his only proof so far has been, "Nooooo." XD

So I've been dealing with that. It's kind of frustrating because I feel like he's not really listening to anything I'm saying, he just denies everything. And I understand sort of because he actually bet me $50 Byler won't happen in season 5 (I didn't bet anything, he just gets to keep the money if he's right). So he doesn't want to admit defeat to that, which is fair, but it was a stupid bet to make in the first place since he didn't have all the information (the proof for Byler).

Additionally, at lunch today we were talking to a girl who's also in our anxiety support class, and I was talking about Byler stuff (Mike's official playlist songs, the way he looks at Will, their flirty scenes in season 4, Mike using the "we're friends" trope, etc.). She agreed with my friend that Byler isn't a thing and said Mike is so straight.

I can argue with them as much as I want but it gets really frustrating and even kind of annoying that they just don't understand all the evidence. I'm just venting here, so absolutely no hate towards people who don't believe Byler is canon, but as someone who cares so deeply about it, it can make me kind of emotional trying to argue that I'm not delusional.

In the end we agreed to disagree, which is fine and valid and I respect that. But with my friend, it's kind of a big deal, because to me Byler is a big deal. I admit I'm obsessed, Byler has been my biggest special interest since I watched season 4 and found out it was a thing. I can't really help it, I'm just so passionate about it and it gets stuck in my mind. You could say I'm hopelessly devoted to Byler, one of my friends online has even said they think it's unhealthy, but how can something that brings me so much joy be wrong?

Ok this has devolved significantly, but what I'm trying to say in this whole rant/vent thing is that yes, I'm very invested in the relationship between fictional characters, because it's important to me. Representation matters, and even though I'm not a gay man, I still love seeing other groups be represented, especially in a show this popular, with a story this deep. The beauty of Byler's story transcends everything.

So it's frustrating trying to argue for something I care so much about. Byler makes me happy, it motivates me, it inspires me. I'm not going to apologize for loving the things I love and being passionate about my interests. Of course I try to be open minded, respect different opinions, and listen to other points of view. If my friend actually had evidence against Byler, I would listen and respond as constructively and respectfully as I can.

Basically, shipping Byler is valid, and not shipping or even being anti-Byler is valid (unless it's just for homophobic reasons, homophobia is not valid). But I love Byler and it does kind of hurt to have something I care about be adamantly denied and torn apart. And you know, as I'm writing this I'm actually empathizing with Milevens. This doesn't just go for Byler, it goes for all ships (as long as they're not messed up obviously), people should be able to enjoy what they enjoy without others trying to tell them why they're wrong.

There's nothing wrong with analyzing Mileven, talking about why it's unhealthy or not going to be endgame, etc. But that should stay in the proper places, we don't need to constantly remind Milevens that they're ship isn't going to end up together. Just let them be happy, and I'd expect them to do the same for us.

Idk how this turned into talking about Milevens and respecting different ships, but it did somehow. Anyway, back to the point, my friend may be wrong about what will happen in season 5, but his beliefs on it are still valid. I just wish we could talk about it in a way that doesn't make me feel bad about shipping Byler and believing it's endgame. Does that make sense?

This isn't that serious or anything, and take everything I said here as just a random vent/rant, I'm just getting out all my thoughts and feelings, because I need to after all the arguing with people today.

If Byler doesn't happen, I'll be sad, but I know I won't be alone because I have my fellow Bylers, my Byler family and community here. We can all be sad together, and support each other. When I feel bad about something, I like to remember this quote:

That's how I feel about Byler not being endgame.

But on a lighter note, I'm pretty sure Byler will end up together, it just makes sense. So yeah, feel free to share any of your thoughts and feelings about this, I'd love to hear them. :)

I just needed to share some Byler positivity at the end because I'm tired of being surrounded by Byler negativity in my class.

Donatello was used to his brothers not giving him the attention he feels he deserves. Not many people understood him or wanted to talk things out with him. April did, yes, but other than her not many enjoyed his intellect and chat.

Then he met you, purely by chance when he was going undercover, and he started up conversation. He was surprised when you showed fascination and wanted to know more about his tech. Nothing malicious like his encounter with the Purple Dragons, genuine curiosity even if you didn't totally understand it.

"Woah, you like this stuff!?"

"I can see why you'd enjoy it. Honestly, you're quite talented."

"... You have no idea how much that means to me-"

You compliment him and his genius. He barely gets compliments from his brothers and his father, so hearing you so invested gets in his head. He's never shared contact info with someone so fast.

His family was happy he made a new friend once you passed a background check. April was too. You seemed to make Donnie very happy.

Chats between you two would go on for hours. Voice calls, video calls, video games, in person visits.... It was weird to not see Donnie talking with you.

"(Y/N) totally gets me, April! We talk nonstop!"

"That sounds great, Donnie! But, you are taking breaks, right?"

"Why would I need breaks? I adore all the texts and calls we share-!"

Donatello's behavior around you screamed crush. He wanted to impress you to get more of your praise. He went into withdrawls when you couldn't talk with each other.

His brothers thought he was being obsessive. They tried not to worry too much about it as he gets like this with video games too... although this felt more and more like an issue as time went on. He wasn't even like this with idols.

"It needs to be PERFECT! This little device is sure to impress (Y/N)...."

His brothers knew they had to do something when Donnie started putting work into drones and trackers. It was obvious what he was about to do. It was not going to be pretty....

"Donnie, you are NOT using those on (Y/N)."

"I wasn't going to!"

"Really now? Why else would you be making a tracker and drone while muttering about (Y/N)?"

"I want to impress (Y/N)...?"

"No, dude. You're being creepy. For (Y/N)'s safety, you need to chill out."

In response to their purple brother's creepy behavior, they do whatever they can to keep you away. Although, when you love someone, something like this does the opposite effect. It only drove him closer to you....

Instead of making Donnie re-evaluate his choices, it made him panic. His own family removed the one person who understood them. Did they not want him happy?

Not understanding what he was doing was wrong, he snapped.

"I've been waiting too long for this...."

The purple gear around you prevented you from moving. Cuffs were wrapped around your wrists, while something was wrapped around your neck to keep you still. Donnie doesn't show any sympathy, only a look of adoration.

"My brothers feel we aren't meant for each other... but I've calculated EVERYTHING."

"Why would you do something like this, Donnie?"

"Isn't this tech amazing!? I made it comfortable enough to not hurt you, just for you. It took me weeks ever since they said we couldn't talk anymore. Then, of course, I have this to keep track of you!"

Donnie holds up a small tracking device, your eyes widening.

"That... didn't answer my question- Where am I, anyway?"

"Oh... my lab. It's all sound proofed though, so, no one's getting in."

"Alright... can you please answer my question, Donnie?"

You're trying to stay brave, not wanting to set him off. Clearly, you made friends with a psychopath. Someone driven to the edge with obsession....

"Hm? Oh, right... well-"

Donnie leans closer, holding your head in his hands.

"No one else understands me except you!"

"Is that why you kidnapped me!?"

"No need to panic, my dearest! Think of this situation like... Romeo and Juliet!"

He backs away and stands up dramatically, grinning.

"My family wants us apart! However, our love is too strong! We're meant to be together! No one can tear us apart...."

"Please, Donnie, you have to know this isn't some play or fairytale fantasy!"

You shake in your restraints, trying to emphasize your point.

"I'm in restraints, in your lab, while you play out delusions. If anything, this is closer to those tales of dragons kidnapping people!"

Donnie gives you a strange look, like you destroyed his fantasy for a moment. His eyes then narrow and he crosses his arms.

"I thought you understood me!"

He screams, looking hurt.

"I thought you'd understand this is how our love story goes! One of drama! One of passion! One perfect for US!"

"You KIDNAPPED me, Donnie!"

Donnie refuses to listen, delving into a sad state. Then he sighs before looking towards you again.

"I... I know but I promise it's the first step to make things work between us! Just give me a chance. The restraints are temporary. You'll be living here for a bit. Do not worry, either! I have all your favorite things ingrained in my head to care for you!"

He steps closer again to hold your head, kissing your nose before giggling. This was clearly not the friend you knew. You had no idea he was this... unstable-

"You have no choice, anyways. There's no running... and I'll find you anywhere."

The Truth About Venus and Why it Can't be exalted in Cancer

My retake on the Cancer vs Pisces : Who should Venus really be exalted in? post.

I've read almost all the responses under this post talking about how Venus makes more sense exalted in Pisces, and although I still stand by some of my previous claims, I do have to say I may of had a change of heart.

Yall brought up some really good points, it made a lot sense and fit the narrative I didn't see before, which is what Venus actually represents in a person's chart.

A lot of you guys worded it a lot better than I could, but to basically give a summary of what everyone said that I agree with is that while Venus does represent relationships of any kind, money, art, indulgence, ect, Venus is about what we want, not what we need. It's about things that make us happy in the moment and we crave more and more of it because we can never get enough of it and it's not truly fulfilling, it's just things that give us cheap thrills.

In this light, I can see how Venus is a lower octave of Neptune because both are related to addiction, art, indulgence and idolization. Pisces is ruled by Neptune the planet of addictions, what our generation dreams and fantasizes about, what kind of art and symbolism our generation enjoys, and what we're delusional about. It's about what makes our generation happy, but not fulfilled. Venus relates to a singular person at a time in this regard, where as Neptune has to do more with a generation, but both are essentially about the same things.

Venus is about what makes us artificially happy in the sense that Venus is like candy and sweets; Yeah it taste good and we want more, but it's not bringing us much nutritional value or anything, and in big amounts it's harmful to us. Where as the Moon is like a full course dinner, yeah we like it, maybe not to the degree of the candy, but it fills us up, satiates our hunger, and keeps us more fulfilled than the candy.

Cancer, as a sign, strives for that longevity of nourishment and emotional happiness, it will go through unpleasant times, trials and errors until they found the one. They do not love freely and only invest their time and emotions into something they know will pay off for them in the long run. If you just so happened to be the one, they will love you what seems like endlessly and show a devotion like no other, however it is likely if you did not match up to their ideals or check off the boxes for them, they would not love you the way they do, which like someone said in the comments, it's conditioned love, it's love at a cost.

Venus loves freely without attachment to anything, taking and loving freely as it pleases and doesn't want to worry about the longterm consequences, it's all about satiating that urge in the moment. Something Cancer is not about, they are worriers of the future and things will impact them later.

I never really looked at Venus in this light before but it does make sense, and I'm surprised I didn't see it sooner. Either way, these are the main reasons to me now why it isn't exalted in Cancer, and why Venus is not all it seems.

Y'know, it's odd, this is my first week in like a year and a half where UU is the only review I need to write for Jump, so I figured it would be a lot easier for me to motivate myself to do it

And yet, this has been one of the hardest to get myself to start

I wonder if it's because I'm sad about the loss of Cipher Academy and Martial Master Asumi? Or do I just feel like I don't have much to say on this chapter? It's hard to say, but I've found that when I'm feeling down on the idea of doing something I know I enjoy, simply getting started on it usually helps reignite the enthusiasm, so here goes nothing!

The big thing about this chapter is definitely the worldbuilding. I think we all suspected that the Creation Story of UU started with man and expanded out from there (we once saw Victor standing alone in an empty wasteland at what was presumably the beginning of time), but the visual of countless souls simply floating around a molten rock paints such a striking picture of this world's origin

My favorite part of that visual though has to be the Sun and Moon looming in the sky, a grim reminder that both of them are above humanity in the pecking order. Even with the Moon standing between the Earth and Sun, shielding the Earth from the blinding and burning light of the Sun, the idea that the Moon is "protecting humanity" is of cold comfort when you consider that we still don't understand Luna's motivations, and she seems to be just as if not more sadistically invested in the struggles of the humanity

I think it's worth noting too that Beast never says "Sun" added the Rules; he says "God" added the Rules out of boredom and curiosity. For all we know, the worldbuilding itself was a collaborative effort between Sun and Luna, and it was only much later that the two of them decided that the only way to truly kill their boredom was to compete with each other. This is supported by Beast's statement that he was added to the game because God tired of seeing man vs. man and wanted to see a new enemy type (which, interestingly, apparently was done repeatedly since new Beast sub-Rules had to be added in over time like Tyrannosaurus, Shark, and of course, Crab), suggesting that the conflict between Negator and UMA came later

There's also an interesting little contradiction in Beast's story: God added the Rules to torment humans and "find what they desired; the greatest life of them all." Why does God care about that? If the Rules are meant to instill suffering and nothing more, what interest does God have in knowing what it means to live well? Is this a Darkseid "Anti-Life Equation" deal where God wants to know what makes humans happiest so he can take it away and maximize despair? Or is it a Komaeda situation and God believes that happiness is found through suffering, and is setting up the ultimate despair in hopes that it will allow the ultimate hope to shine brighter? I could really see it going either way, but I kind of hope it's the latter cus I think that it'd be more interesting if even the UMAs have the wrong idea about God's ultimate goals

Actually, if it is the latter, that would imply that Ruin has the right of it, wouldn't it? "I'm sure there's meaning in the suffering brought on by the Master Rules." While it currently seems like Ruin is delusional and justifying the cruelty of God, it's possible that he's the only one who actually understands what God wants: to create the ideal and happiest form of life on Earth. That might even be the core of the conflict between Sun and Luna, that they both want what they think is best for man, they just fundamentally disagree on what that is. If I had to guess, it's similar to One Piece in that the dichotomy is between Order and Freedom, where one believes that rigid adherence provides happiness through security while the other believes that choice at the risk of regret is more satisfying. The City Mouse and the Country Mouse, for my Chainsaw Man fans

Despite how close we seem to be getting to the story's climax, it's still too early to draw any conclusions on that front, but Tozuka definitely seems to be sprinkling those themes throughout the story. While they may be overwritten later with more context, it's never too early to interpret the themes as they're presented

On a more immediate note, I love the implication that Beast was added as the Seventh Master Rule and ended up getting demoted to Ninth later. This really speaks to the prevalence of Time (identity pending) and Language to the human experience; man eventually conquered Beast as the apex predator, there are no animals that man cannot kill, and in fact it's widely accepted that we are the objectively bigger threat to them, but the Language barrier? That's a direct impediment to human communication and solidarity, so while it may not be as damaging as Justice, it's undeniable that it's a bigger threat to us as a species than any animal could be. And of course, Time has always been a major enemy to the human experience; no matter what diseases you overcome, what animals you conquer and eat, what languages you learn, your time will come. You can delay it, but the longer you do, the harder it becomes to do so; your bones will weaken, your mind will slow, and even your very genes will fray and fail you one day. Time isn't the real killer, so War and Death are obviously worse, but just because it isn't as bad doesn't mean it isn't cruel, and much more so than Beasts. Beast's desire to reclaim "the Era of Beasts" is proof enough that the advancements of man have cost him his former rank

Beast also said that the Rules are not designed to benefit man, but that's either his own shortsightedness, merely a taunt to obscure the truth, or a testament to the strength of man. Beasts are food, clothes, and even companions. Language is an obstacle, but also a tool and an art. Time is an inevitability, but one that carries with it the benefit of experience even at the expense of longevity. We don't know much about the top 6, but at least these "weaker" Master Rules carry a very clear set of benefits along with their impediments. If God truly didn't intend for these benefits, then man is that much more impressive for bending the Rules to fit their needs, and if he did in secret, then that reinforces my earlier point that the suffering is merely meant to push man to greater heights

Maybe I shouldn't be putting this much effort into analyzing these points now since they're likely to either come up or be disproven later, but half the fun is following the breadcrumbs that Tozuka leaves for us over time. Much like Ruin's faith in God, I have faith that Tozuka's words are meaningful to the final message of the story, so ignoring them as they come just because they don't show the full picture is like missing the trees for the forest

What I am going to wait on though is talking about Top's decision to pit Unbreakable vs. Unbreakable, as that's going to be developed and possibly resolved in the next chapter. While I'm sure I could come up with a lot to say now, I get the distinct feeling that this is a tree that's better served being given time to grow

Phew! I had a lot more to talk about than I thought, and I was right, I feel a lot better now. Hopefully the suffering of losing CA and MMA was just an obstacle I needed to overcome to reaffirm the happiness I feel from reading UU, and that going forward I'll be able to continue to use that as motivation to keep bringing you all fun analyses like this!

Finished Chapter 3. My thoughts on this Atelier Gacha Mobile Game so far!

I'm in love with the music and writing of this game. Takahiro (writer) and Shinichi Yoshiike (writer, creator of Atelier) won. Also love that I don't have to spend anything to get through it, even 1 star units are helpful as long as you can invest time upgrading them.

Just wish they made the original characters other than Resna playable... It's very weird to see them in cutscenes wielding their weapon but end up as cutscene material (at the time of this writing). Hopefully whenever Steam version comes out, Izana, Valeria, Roman, and Saskia are available. I understand the decision to do so though (Having all 4 of them available as free units will fill out all 5 party slots immediately. Even though Shallistera is a free 1 star unit and a really useful one at that).

Cutscenes are very much a huge upgrade than any Atelier game you've seen. Team NINJA did a tremendous job with the motion capture work and the scripting of facial & body expressions.

Visuals-wise, my only nitpick is just the background blurring being too intense since the environment looks a bit non-existent (even though it's all 3D modeled and not a flat background image). Otherwise, everything is really great!

This game is fun, still not for everyone, but it's not as terrible as Atelier Online JP. You might hear people online putting out hate towards this game while clearly seeing that they haven't even checked out its mechanics (to the point that they're putting delusional statements about Atelier Online being better) but really, this is a huge upgrade to the Mobile Game Design this IP has experienced.

There is still room for improvement, regardless. Yes, the game is eye candy but the room for improvement lies within the external factors of the game (and by that, I mean the monetary side of things. And no, it's not about the pricing, it's about the lack of a Monthly Pass so far at the time of this writing)

I'm hoping for an offline release for Console and PC though. I love all the characters so far, but it still makes me sad that this is a Live Service therefore rendering all these well-written characters as a temporary occurrence. Since this has Atelier characters from past games, maybe there is a chance for the next Atelier anniversary milestone? Fans would need to raise their voices that they want an offline version too, of course.

I don't think a canon daddy for one would be pleasant like the fanon daddy for one majority enjoy. I think too many people may be getting their hopes up on him being a father and husband who cares and may be setting themselves up for disapointment. I think we should be prepared for anything. I'm fine with a more callous hubby and dad afo, but I don't think others would be.

Fair point and I agree with you! Thats the danger personal headcanons and theorys bring with! If people are really invested in something and form their own headcanons how the story should go but doesnt, the dissapointment can destroy the whole story for you and people will even lash out at the author for not writing the story they want him to write it. In the end, no matter how dfo will play out, its horis story and we all need to accept that. Not gonna lie if things dont turn out the way I would like them to, I will be dissapointed too, but in the end I know its not the end of the world and its horis story.

And I just want to remind you that not all dfo fans actually believe that afo loves/cares for his family. There are many of different kind of dfo fans. A lot of them dont believe in "good" dfo in which he loves his family. There are dfo fans who think everything he does is for his family, then the ones who believe he cares to some extent but in the end would still choose his demon lord persona, the ones who believe he only sees izuku as somekind of extention from himself and inko as a pet and also people like me who think he DOES love them (because thats what the hints and evidences are telling me) but its a twistet and toxic kind of love and borderline obsession, in short what afo feels for his brother.

I think in the end most dfo fans will just be happy if dfo is FINALLY confirmed no matter what afo will feel for his family in the end! The dissapointment will of course be there no matter how it turns out, but at least dfo fans will finally have the confirmation that we did read the evidences and hints hori put in the story the right way and that we never were stupid or delusional for believing in it.

"This is your final lesson, Julie. Do not mess with the teacher." Oh, this one was fun! The kid that played a sixteen year old didn't look like one, of course, but an interesting story overall. The teacher was so delusional. Medieval times and marrying at 12 years old. Sure, Jan.

I gotta give it to the actor, though. He's so awkward with her. The dynamic portrayed here is exactly how it should be portrayed. The actress is good, too.

I love it when the cases they show get me actually invested. Definitely much more interesting than Kevin/Penelope/Derek drama. (yikes)

Family, family, family. I want to see them hanging out together. I mean, really, Dave, Spencer, and JJ? It's like a dad with his kid and his friend, which, ultimately, means dad with his kids.

They're hilarious but also so sweet. Sometimes they give off totally platonic best friends vibes, just like this. They're so comfortable with each other.

I was about to say that maybe that's their difference & that's why they are platonic and maybe should go separate ways. I don't see Penelope becoming a full time mom. A fun aunt, maybe.

However, what if Derek was that person that could change her understanding of marriage? I mean, let's say he could've proposed (they're such an interesting couple that she could've beaten him to it with "I would never, ever want to marry, but it's different with you.") They're soulmates & let's say they'd marry & nothing would've changed. And she suddenly realizes that "Wow, that's how it should be."

Because I don't see Derek proposing to her the same way Kevin does: out of nowhere. Derek would make sure they are on the same page about this. He wouldn't want to freak Penelope out. He would never push her into something she doesn't want. I can imagine a situation where he proposes to her, she's not ready, and he goes, "Baby, it's okay. We don't have to marry if you're not ready." But at the same time he knows her so well that I think he'd see the right moment to do it?

Him wanting a kid is a different thing, but I can imagine him living without it (maybe getting a pet with Penelope or spending more time with Jack and Henry). Or maybe Penelope realizing that maybe it's not such a bad idea & then the idea of being a mother growing on her. Though I am, too, child-free & I understand that if your mind is settled on something, no matter how much you love a person, you should stay true to yourself. And I'm not sure exactly whether Penelope is more scared to end up alone or she genuinely doesn't want to be a mom. She was pretty warm toward Henry so maybe she actually would become a mom if she felt that kind of stability with Derek & was sure of it. Idk, many thoughts about that.

Either way, I can imagine them working out as a romantic couple (since they are often behave like one).

I mean, c'mon. This might as well be a conversation from Grey's Anatomy of two dating people.

Yeah. I think Derek would've understood that before proposing to her. Kevin's role in this show is very unclear. He pops up so rarely, there was a period in the show where he was completely absent. Now they kind of brought him back & he proposed? Meh.

I'm very curious about what he did that the fandom hates him.

Jerk move, especially since it shows that he doesn't love her & just wants to get married, no matter to whom. Still not worth hating though. He's whatever. Next, please. Or back to Derek, I'm not that picky.

I am absolutely so baffled as to why anyone cares about who Matty or who Taylor or any celebrity for that matter is dating THAT MUCH. Like it get finding out who they’re dating being like ‘oh interesting’ and moving on. But how does anyone care further than that??? No body knows anything about these people further than what they want us to know and so many fans are just delusional with it. Just curious as to your take on this… personally it’s baffling.

I can't really explain fans on Taylor Swift's side, so I won't try to do that.

Speaking of myself, and I'm guess some others on the 1975 side, unless, of course, I'm weird and alone in this, lol, I think it started out as real confusion and shock. Cuz, for me anyway, it came out of nowhere. And the idea that it might be PR when he first flew out to see her was kinda irking me. So, I wanted to know enough in order to figure out if it was or wasn't PR. Cuz I hadn't thought of matty as the sort of person who would do PR relationships and stuff. So, I was like, wait, is this a thing? am I wrong? just wanted an answer.

After that settled down, now I'm not invested in stuff like how long they have been dating, whether Taylor cheated on Joe with Matty, if he's more in love with her or she's using him, etc. None of that really matters to me and I don't believe we will ever truly know. Now it's just normal gossip. Obviously, if a pap picture of him surfaces I'm gonna roast the shit out of him for still wearing the same fuckin shoes and stuff, cuz I'm a fan and thats what i do, lol.

But I think some of us are genuinely upset (and i do feel like im one of them but i try to distance myself from it) because of the way that Matty is being talked about online outside of the fandom and because we are seeing media outlets capitalize on it. It hurts to see one of your favorite artists, and, in my personal case, the sole person responsible for me not offing myself, be called these horrible things. so, it feels like every time we try to turn a blind eye, there is this reason to continue paying attention. And for a lot of fans, knowing the nature of the relationship is maybe a comfort to see if its worth battling it out with idiots online, if this is a fling that'll end soon and we can put it in the past, if this is even real, etc. cuz its taken over our fandom soooo much that it's alarming.

But, yeah. The bottom line is that we shouldn't be this intense about it. Our opinion doesn't matter to them, nor should it, and it's not productive to engage with the hate generating machines out there. So, for me, they're adults, they've made their choice, and thats that.

Yeah, I think coming from the perspective we do, looking at things through a “larrie lens”, it’s easier to see why some things may happen. Easier isn’t really the best word but it helps the puzzle pieces fit slightly better, maybe. Like, I look at this TMZ thing and my thought process is: Well, the movie got release today. Harry hasn’t been seen in weeks but conveniently he’s papped being overly affectionate with his business associates standing around him to make sure they’re not in the way of TMZ getting their exclusive shot.

Of course this happened. It’s so obvious it’s painful. There are other things at play here, primarily financial investments from multiple sources, that are behind this. I don’t even think that’s crazy to say, it seems like a reasonable, educated guess at this point to see how much the studio, Olivia, Harry’s het image and marketability for future acting projects, HSHQ, etc stand to benefit from all this.

But I can consider all of that and still choose to take a break and choose not to consume pictures, merch, movie tickets, etc. so it doesn’t drive me absolutely crazy. Because I hate it. I can consider this is a hard decision they had to make and not swallow it like a “good fan.” Fuck that, you know?

I know another explanation is we’re being played. To some extent, I see how both Louis and Harry do this because it’s just good business to appeal to as many demographics as possible. I hate when people who aren’t larries call us delusional or say we don’t consider that we’re being strung along. I’m not dumb, I know when I’m being thrown a bone. But I just said it in another ask, I don’t feel it in my gut that they are those people that so carelessly keep us trailing behind, taking punch after punch, for their own amusement. If I really thought that, I would’ve been gone long ago. I’ve dropped artists/interests/FAMILY MEMBERS ffs for way less. 😂

for real have been living under a rock all this time because I actually only really got into the vocaloid/utaite scene only about 2 years ago. I REALLY think I missed out during it's peak.

Love or hate vocaloid, you cannot ignore the herstory and impact it has on the world

The beginning of the end

I still recall in highschool some of my friends were really into it and as a matter of fact I was constantly reminded of the fucking kagamine twins just because I have a twin lmao. I thought it was all super cringe though and I would actually get creeped out if people mentioned it and shamed them for it. oh how the tables have turned.

cringe or not, it was impossible to ignore it or deny the yass slayery it has. Some songs I either pretended it sounded like shit and/or listened to in secret was:

it really wasn't until I discovered reol did I actually give in to it all. Initially I thought reol's voice was unbearably high and giga's intense beats hurt my brain, but luvoratory is too good to be played once and after a few thousand listens before i knew how i felt i was hooked.

things probably spiralled out of control for me with it all because fast forward to around 2019; miku expo begins and she ACTUALLY has a show in my city. I actually cop VIP TICKETS to go see her. This would've been the craziest shit ever to ever happen to me if it didn't get cancelled because of covid aadjasdsaldlaakl it was supposed to be my first concert too. (on a slightly lighter note; I got tickets a little while ago to go see gumi live in my city!!!!!!!!!)

thoughts on the genre as a whole

I think the most irresistible thing about the whole vocaloid/utaite genre to me is there is no consistent genre to it. It works so well with my personal philosophy of having no favorite music genre of course I have to be so invested in it.

FAVORITE VOICE BANKS

I really want to say it's Rin Kagamine because I'm delusional as fuck and think we're the same person and most of the vocaloid songs i listen to happen to use her vocals. Some years ago during a very boring and so forgettable con I cannot remember what it was called, i was just sitting idly by my table as my friend played songs a little on their speaker. One of the songs they played was Meltdown by iroha and ever since then I can't stop playing it almost every single day and everytime even the slightest inconvenience happens to me; I will blare this song so loud in frusturation.

Vflower is somewhere way up there with fav vocaloids. VERY unique sounding voice and I really like how producers are able to tune her very differently from each other. She's really dominating the scene lately and at this point its IMPOSSIBLE to ignore her. which is exactly why I'm so aggravated at companies and such for not letting her play live or even put her in fucking project sekai!!!!!!! how the fuck are you gonna keep putting her songs in it but not have her in it! i don't care if she's not in the same company theres no way you don't have the money to do it!!!!!!!!

i feel like there isn't a lot of songs by Gumi by herself; i really wish there were more bangers for her. She duets extremely well with mostly rin or miku though. Her voice provider is half-filipino therfor gumi is half-filipino and my only representation in this awful world so i really like her. Very nice sounding voice, theres a lot of opportunity to use her for most things really. I have the exact same issue as i do with vflower, PUT HER IN PROJECT SEKAI AND LET HER DO MORE CONCERTS YOU COWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Megurine Luka has the most prettiest sounding voice for sure. I would group her in my top 3 vocaloids in no particular order with vflower and rin. LOTS of nice range and there isn't much to say i can say other than shes a fucking legend and she's kind of sexy lmao.

THERE REALLY IS NO SONGS FOR MEIKO AND IT FUCKING SUCKS CAUSE SHE HAS SO MUCH UNTAPPED POTENTIAL. Very nice almost silkyish mature sounding voice. Personally i think no one knows how to harness her voice the best than oster project. Maybe it's just because they're the only producer who makes shit for her, but I feel like maybe meiko's voice is best used in dramatic type songs with lots of classic instruments. I'm actually angry at the world for not producing her enough my god

Ms Hatsune Miku; what can i really say except she's literally the bitch of all time. Obviously the vocaloid with the most impact for sure with what i would say is the most balanced type of voice from all the voice banks which gives her lots of opportunity to do literally any song which is exactly why she has so much motherfucking power.

Honestly, anon finds these discussions about "which deaths we would swap" to be kind of creepy. It's like we have a god complex, talking about who we think deserves to live and who deserves to die. It's one of anon's biggest pet peeves about the Danganronpa fandom; we talk so much about "who we think should have died" that it's kind of ghoulish. It's like what Gandalf said in Lord of the Rings: many dead people deserve to live, but we can't give life to them, so we shouldn't decide death either.

I think we can drawn a pretty thick line between rewriting scripted, fake deaths and having a morbid, delusional fixation on rewriting the deaths of actual people. At the end of the day, every fictional game or movie or tv or book franchise is still something someone had to write. To start the whole thing off, someone had to just type up a text document and store it on their computer, y'know? Which means that some regular person or people really did decide who was going to live and who was going to die in the story.

In the case of Danganronpa, Kazutaka Kodaka is the "god" who got to determine the course of all these characters' lives for as long as we'd know them. The same is true of any writer. To use an example you referenced: Tolkien had to decide to kill that one child of Denothor (yes I'm seriously going to dance around naming the character just in case it'd spoil LotR for somebody). Then he had to write down the details of how it happened. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was just some mortal, but he had total control over that fictional reality. Yet I wouldn't fault him for killing a character for dramatic purposes, y'know? When you write fiction, you are ultimately taking those fictional characters you create/adopt and deciding upon the path their lives will take. And you make those decisions based on what's best for the story - not based on whether you like the character or whether it's the most satisfying possible time in their lives.

And none of that is even accounting for the fact that in fictional works, we often want to see or follow very different rules for who lives and dies than anyone would ever want to see apply to reality. For example: Just because you might expect any teenager who drinks alcohol in an old slasher movie to get killed, and you even might write those kinds of deaths if you had to create some kind of '80s throwback horror movie, that doesn't mean you'd EVER wish that kind of thing on real people of ANY age.

So to me, to sit around and talk about how you'd change someone else's written work isn't really any different than writing a fanfic, or from being anyone who writes anything that's made up. It's interesting to note, though, that Shuichi would agree with you on this whole point due to the horrific meaning of "fiction" in his reality. The idea of viewers in the world of V3 contemplating how they would've written a particular season differently? I guess it'd be like if a bunch of Americans sat around together, discussing who they personally would've liked to see escape and/or get killed during that week's most recent mass shooting. ................ And although that sounds pretty fucked up, I'm just realizing that it ALSO sounds like a way of working through that third stage of grief.

Ultimately, I guess what I'm saying is a long-winded way of delivering a simple "Don't take it too seriously, because we all know that nobody is actually getting hurt here; it's just a discussion about writing." But even so, I think it's natural to sometimes find a fictional world that gets you SO invested that the deaths and the drama hit you like a truck. So maybe you're simply trying to say that this kind of thing feels painful to you because of how invested you are? Maybe it just gives you a feeling of the macabre in some loose, undefinable way... and maybe that's just because you care that much. And I'd say: There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But if we really had godlike power and the world of DR actually existed in some multiversal sense, I assume most of us would opt to stop all the deaths entirely. We're not psychos. .......Or maybe we wouldn't all choose to stop Junko's or Korekiyo's deaths, because they're essentially serial killers. But you get what I mean.
