I liked their conversation and he was..It's the first time I've seen him really light up because he wasn't with her, so he could glow a little bit, and he was excited. He was so turned on and he was so happy and I've never seen him like that and that was the first time. And he's like and when he said "I'm gonna hold you that," there was so much hope and longing and love and that statement "I'm going to hold you to that" and because he knew he had her now, or he had at least he had a chance, you know, he was he was going to get a second chance. Do you ever wonder how Jess would have felt if he knew that Luke essentially chose him over Lorelai once? Jess knows Luke would do anything for her most of the time, and yet Luke basically gave Lorelai the silent treatment for an entire summer because of what she said after the car accident. And yet I don't think Jess knew that. How bowled over would he have been? I don't think he could even fathom the idea that Luke (or maybe even anyone) could care about him that much, until maybe years later.

Do you know I really think the whole 'gilmore girls rewatching is just pure comfort food' take isn't quite ... it...

I think the whole 'it's just rewatched because it has a pretty town with fairy lights everywhere' thing reduces what I think brings a lot of people back to watching the show. To me, it's because you can see new things, new perspectives with every watch- and sometimes it's even to do with how your own experiences and what you've just learned in your own life and the values you take from it all can be explored alongside it like a really great book. It's not just entertaining but I genuinely feel like it says a lot about life, especially from the perspective of realistic women. Women who are ambitious, women who make mistakes, women who love their friends and didn't get the life they wanted but love it so much anyway. I don't want to be too pretentious on tumblr dot com but I just have so much love for this show.

Do you ever just think about the fact that Jess wrote a whole book, and then comes back and tells her "he couldn't have done it without her"? The fact that she was his whole inspiration to write...to write his very first book, his love for her was so deep that it moved him to write a whole book! It just hits me sometimes how deep that is! That is the most romantic gift ever he dedicated a whole ass book to her! Then he has ONE talk with her and inspires her to continue working towards her dream! Then later he inspires her to write her very own book! I know her mother is her biggest inspiration as Rory even said at her graduation, but Jess so is Jess, he is her muse! They are each other's muse like there is something so intimate about that! Ugh I'm losing my mind right now, the way they inspire each other I can't, and people have the audacity to say that Rory didn't love Jess as much! If anything that says that she loves him so much more and plays cautious with her heart when it comes to him because her love for him is overwhelming and scary! He was her inspiration to start writing her very first book he's her whole muse! The fact that they just have this understanding of one another they connect so deep it's on another level and ugh it absolutely destroys me!

oh my WORD YES. Seriously both of them with their abandonment issues, but you're so right about Jess's leaving made Rory's even worse.

Rory's whole family, really even the entirety of Stars Hollow, disregarding her valid opinion of Jess and refusing to acknowledge that she actually knows him when she's really the only one that actually knew him.

All the what-ifs, from Jess's declaration of love and then leaving, him asking Rory to run away with him, what could have happened if Logan hadn't shown up for dinner in Balalaikas, the kiss in The Real Paul Anka.

Just... so much of this song fits. Jess picked Rory up and made her feel special after Dean made her feel like trash. And,

It’s so frustating to me when the girl in love triangles chooses one guy and then she wants the two to be friends and obviously the guy who's left out doesn’t want to... like girl how could he want to be friends with the guy “responsible” of losing you, of course it's noone fault cause this things happen, sometimes it’s the guy himself, cause there’s a reason she didn’t picked him or simply just the girl’s feelings, but still I believe it’s no fun to be friends with the new boyfriend....Just listen to Don’t you by Taylor Swift. I'm trying to figure out why I have such a knee-jerk negative reaction to any fic that describes Jess as wearing the leather jacket in the "wrong place" (as in, at a time when he never wore it in the series). Because, in theory, that's such an insignificant detail, right? But I think it's because Jess's leather jacket is so overwhelmingly associated to me with the "bad boy" image/stereotype he has, which I feel very strongly is a misunderstanding and oversimplification of his character. And that jacket only represents the worst point of his character! He has NEVER worn that jacket at a time when he was with Rory! He never wore it when they were falling in love, he never wore it when they were dating, but only when they were separated! And he has NEVER worn that jacket at a time when he was happy!!! Only ever when he was MISERABLE and at his LOWEST! Like, WHY would you feel nostalgic for that specific point in his life?! And if the answer is just "I think he looks hot that way," I feel like... if THAT'S your "favorite version" of Jess, that's FINE, it's whatever... But I don't think we read the character in the same way or like him for the same reasons, and well... that makes me doubt I'll be able to enjoy it.

playful bickering had filled the room for the better part of five minutes as you practically ransacked your room in pursuit of jess' missing jacket. it was here somewhere, but where, you had no idea.

it was almost frustrating. your room wasn't even that big, and unless jess had gone out of his way to hide it, there was no reason the search should have turned into an all out scavenger hunt.

"this is worse than that time kirk lost all of those eggs," you groaned, pushing yourself to stand after searching underneath your bed.

"so dramatic," jess quipped, though his search in your wardrobe also proved futile.

"what did you even do with the thing?" you questioned, unable to hold back your laughter as even the most odd places were found empty.

"i hadn't seen you in four days, i'm sorry that my priority was-" jess cut himself off, dark brows furrowed as he scanned something on your desk.

"what are these?"

after a moment, jess held up his hand, a few loose sheets of paper clasped between his fingers and confusion written across his face. you, too, were confused for a moment before you realised.

"oh, uh," you scrambled for words, feeling your cheeks heat up as you realised exactly what he'd found. "they're nothing."

smart.

"nothing?" jess repeated, clearly amused. "well, 'nothing' looks an awful lot like some poetry. pretty good poetry, by the way. you write these?"

there was no point trying to deny it. not when he was looking at you with a slightly crooked smile and a soft gaze reserved only for your company.

"i guess, yeah." you shrugged, still embarrassed. "they're nothing special, scribbles, really."

"no? they seem awfully romantic," he teased, though there was something else behind his words. "are they... y'know. are they about me?"

you could have laughed at his question, the answer being so obvious, but the moment between you both seemed so vulnerable, a bubble that could easily be popped by even one wrong word.

"of course they are."

with great care, jess placed the sheets back down onto your desk and made his way over to you. warm hands found your own, lifted until they were held between yours and jess' frames. he gave you another gentle smile before his lips were on yours.

each movement of his mouth was poetry in its own way, conveying every small thought and feeling jess wished to tell you. every sigh was a confession, the trace of his tongue against your lips his pen upon paper.

the search for jess' jacket could wait. jess had found something far more precious.
