Last Minute Trick or Treat! 🍬🍬 -
What Halloween party games (like apple bobbing, pumpkin carving etc) do you think Everlark absolutely excel at?
Happy Halloween!
This has spun off into a very quick, rough fanfic--some THG characters play the party game "Werewolf" (also known as Mafia).
"What roles are we doing again?" Clove asks. I shift in my seat, glancing at the random bunch assembled here in Caesar Flickerman's basement. From the popular Gale to Thresh and his little cousin Rue, we have nothing in common but that for some reason, Caesar invited us all here for a game of Werewolf. I hadn't wanted to come, but Prim claimed she was too old for trick-or-treating and Gale insisted we come.
The party, hosted by the senior Caesar, mostly consists of high-achievers, do-gooders, and Thresh who had to watch his little cousin Rue. Basically, those not the type to get drunk on Halloween night. And as Gale knew I was one of those, he lowered himself to come to this party with me. Although this smaller group is more my speed, I'm lost in the rules of their game. I understand we have three werewolves to kill and we have to guess who they are, but I don't understand all of the different names people are tossing out for other roles in the game. I sit back as others discuss the particular minutia of this particular game.
"Three werewolves, a witch, a seer, a hunter, a little girl, four villagers," Caesar says, then gives a wide, toothy smile. "Oh, and cupid. They'll pick the lovers."
"Can the witch save someone each night?" Marvel asks.
"No," Caesar said. "One potion to save and one potion to kill the whole game. If they die before they use it, that's never used."
More questions fly at Caesar as he clarifies the roles and what each one does. I try to keep them in mind because I'll end up with one of them. The seer can find out if someone is a werewolf or not each night. The hunter can choose one person to kill alongside them if they're killed. The little girl can peek during play to see who's who, but if they get caught, the werewolves will surely kill them. And the two lovers, chosen by the cupid, will die if the other one does, too. The villagers do nothing but get killed and join in the accusations of who the werewolf is.
"Let's have everyone pick out their roles now," Caesar says as he jostles a bowl of torn-up paper with the roles jotted down. He starts with Glimmer, then goes around the circle of us to hand out the slips of paper. I'm halfway into the circle and I pick out my role.
Witch.
Two potions the whole game. One to save and one to kill. Easy enough to remember, but I don't care for that responsibility.
"Now that everyone has their role," Caesar says, "we can get the game started!"
He steps outside the circle and turns off the lights, so the only light comes from the LED color-changing lights, which Caesar sets to blue. Shadows form around the circle and makes everyone now just a little harder to read.
"Welcome to our little village," Caesar says as he takes center stage in the middle of the circle. "All of us have lived quite peacefully together in our village on the outskirts of the forest. But lately, something's been happening. Sheep and pigs have gone missing, only track marks of being dragged away and finally splatters of blood giving any clue to what this bloodthirsty monster must be. Now, after a long day toiling at your crops and spinning wheel, you retire to bed. Everyone, close your eyes."
I follow the instructions and settle into the darkness behind my eyelids.
"First, cupid will have to choose the lovers. Cupid, open your eyes." Caesar pauses, then says, "Cupid, point to the two lovers." Another pause. "Thank you Cupid, you may close your eyes. As for the rest of you, I'm going to walk around in a circle and if I tap your knee, you're one of the lovers. When I tell you to, you'll open your eyes and see your true love. And remember, if they die, you die, too."
Not me, not me, not me, I chant in my head. It might only be a game, but the thought of being anyone's "lover" makes me uncomfortable. My eyes still shut, I wait as Caesar takes a loop around the circle and then feel a strong tap against my knee so that I can't deny I've been chosen for this.
"Lovers, open your eyes and discover who it is you will die without," Caesar says.
I open my eyes and immediately make eye contact with Peeta Mellark, who is possibly the nicest boy in my grade. The whole school, probably. He gives me a shy smile and my insides become runny and I can't help but smile back and hope I don't ruin his game for him by getting accused first of being a werewolf thanks to my resting bitch face.
"Lovers, close your eyes."
I shut them again. Caesar runs through the werewolves, who make their first decision on who to kill, then offer the seer an insight into whether or not someone's a werewolf, then the witch. I open my eyes and decline to use either potion.
"The sun rises red in the east, you wake up and discover that blood has been spilled this night," Caesar says. "Madge and Cato are on their way to the town's bakery only to discover in the middle of the town square, slashed and gutted: Delly!"
Delly lets out a groan. "The first one!"
"Who were you?" The red-headed Kit asks.
"Cupid," she says, showing her slip of paper. Caesar holds out the bowl an she tosses it back in. I narrow my eyes at her for a moment. So she's who I have to thank for this extra job of keeping Peeta safe.
"Any accusations?" Caesar asks.
"I've noticed in this game," Gale says, "that the first person to die is often closer to one of the werewolves."
I already know where he's going with this. Delly and Peeta are good friends, have been since we were kids since they live next door to each other. And I have to stop it.
"Delly's friends with everyone," I say. "Even me. That doesn't help much."
"But there are some people she's closer to," Gale says.
"You know, I heard Glimmer moving around during the werewolf part," Clove interrupts.
Glimmer gasps and says, "I was scratching my arm!"
"Or you could have been moving your arm to point at someone," Peeta says. He clearly knows what Gale had been thinking, too.
"Are you accusing Glimmer then?" Caesar asks.
"I am," Clove says.
"Seconded," Peeta agrees.
"Anyone else?" Caesar asks.
"Marvel," Cato says.
"What?!" Marvel asks.
"I don't know," Cato says, shrugging. "Gotta have at least two and you're just as likely as any of us."
Glimmer and Marvel have their opportunity to defend themselves, Glimmer giving an impassioned speech about this being just like the Salem Witch Trials, and Marvel shrugging it off with a "Whatever. I didn't do it and Cato's an idiot."
The vote's close, but in the end, it's seven to five, not in favor Glimmer.
"Villager!" she says, showing her paper. "I hope you're happy now!"
Madge gets killed off by the werewolves next, and the accusations around that fly around. Kit ends up on the chopping block, but that was bad news, since she was our seer and now we have no insight into who might be a werewolf. She didn't even get to share with us what she'd learned the first two nights.
The next round, when I open my eyes, planning to turn down using the potion, Rue's little hand waves at me from around Thresh's huge body on the chair next to me. She gestures to herself and I understand she is, aptly, the game's little girl.
"Would you like to save anyone tonight?" Caesar asks.
Rue looks at me with wide eyes. I look at Caesar, nod, and gesture toward Rue. He points at Rue in confirmation.
"Would you like to poison anyone, witch?" Caesar says. "And as a reminder to the little girl, they cannot communicate during the night. Only peek."
With Rue unable to aid me, I shake my head.
"Well, last night was quite an adventure," Caesar says. "Rue was out of bed and spying on the werewolves when they spotted her and ripped her open with their teeth. Leaving her to die, a witch came by and used a potion to revive our Rue back to life. No one has died tonight, and the witch's saving potion is used up. Now, any accusations?"
"Marvel!" Rue says, pointing her finger at him. "I was peeking and he saw me and pointed to me! I didn't get a good look at the others, but I know he's a werewolf!"
"Seconded," Thresh says, the first time he's talked all game.
"Any other accusations?" Caesar asks. No one brings up any other names and Marvel groans, accepting his fate.
"I was a werewolf," he says and puts his slip back in the bowl. Everyone cheers the first successful werewolf kill.
Next round, all I have left is a killing potion, which I don't use. I wish for more saving potion, because clearly the werewolves will be after Rue now, and sure enough, come sunrise, she's the one who's dead.
Now with the accusations, things are desperate.
"Katniss has been quiet," Clove says. "Hasn't talked since the first round."
"Katniss is always quiet," Peeta says. "You can't accuse her because of that. You'd have to throw Thresh in as well."
"I think it's Clove," Gale says. "She's been making bad accusations this whole time."
"Shut up!" Clove says. "Actually, I think it's you. You only voted Marvel because everyone else was and you've been bossing everyone around more than us, but we've only gotten one werewolf."
"I second Clove," I say. She is acting a little too defensive.
"And I second Gale," Cato says.
Gale and I are the only one who vote for Clove, and everyone else votes for Gale.
"Hunter," Gale says. "And I'm taking Clove out with me."
Clove gives a low growl and flips her paper around. "I was a werewolf."
"So there's one left." Cato looks around. "Who else? The witch and two villagers?"
"And the lovers," Thresh says.
I try not to look guilty, but Thresh clocks my expression and squints at me. Oh no, he thinks I'm the werewolf.
"All right, remaining players, close your eyes," Caesar says.
With my eyes shut and Caesar telling the remaining werewolf to choose their kill. Based on the look given to me, Thresh must be a villager. Which means that either Cato or Peeta is the werewolf. If Peeta dies, I die. Even if he is a monster. But maybe, if it's Cato and I take him out with the poison, Thresh won't have to die, too.
"Witch, you may open your eyes," Caesar says. I look up at him, his skin and hair illuminated blue in the light. "Do you wish to use your potion?"
I point at Cato. Caesar confirms, but the pool is so small now it'd be impossible to misunderstand where I'd pointed. I see the "dead" look at each other in despair and realize my mistake. Cato isn't the werewolf.
Peeta is.
"Very well, everyone open your eyes," Caesar says and claps his hands in delight. "Oh, this has been quite an interesting round! Last night, a pair of lovers slipped out in the dark together to commit a double-murder. First, the werewolf ripped Thresh's throat out and ensured his death, while the witch poisoned Cato's beer and he died choking on his own vomit."
Cato throws his hands up and glares between Peeta and me. "Which one of you killed me?"
I raise my hand. "I was the witch."
"And I'm the werewolf," Peeta says.
"So the werewolves won?" Clove asks, holding her hands to her chest in hope.
"No, the lovers won," Caesar said. "It's rare that neither of them gets killed off, but it helps that Peeta, as a werewolf, deterred them from killing Katniss and they stuck together in the game without the rest of you realizing it. With the other two dead, in the end, the lovers prevailed and get to live in their little village in the woods peacefully, with no one to bother their supernatural lives."
I can't help but cheer and when Peeta gets up from his seat and offers me a high-five, I do one better and give him a hug. We are lovers, after all--it's the least I can do.

earlier I was thinking about the way my dad would constantly demean my interests and thoughts and feelings and clumsy or inaccurate contributions to conversations when I was a kid – and all kids are prone to clumsy or innacurate contributions to conversations – and how he doesn't do that to me anymore and instead does it to my little brother... and it isn't that he got more relaxed because i got older it's that i stopped initiating or contributing to any conversations i have with him beyond doing little bits or responding in a way i think he wants me to. and truthfully i don't think he's noticed this and i do not think he ever will. i'd love to speak up when he belittles will, but any challenge to anything he says, even when he's discussing something he's proposed as a "thought experiment" or a "hypothetical" gets you argued with and/or blamed and/or belittled and/or passive-aggressively made fun of. and then he has the gall to wonder why none of us want to tell him how we feel or what we think about anything. like. at the end of the day he has never been a consistently safe place for any of the three of us emotionally because he'll either give a really minimal reaction / attention or belittle our feelings or end up self-referencing.... which is sometimes a great route for connection and relating to other people but whenever he does it i just feel like i'm being spoken At rather than spoken to. you can try to connect with him intellectually but if you're wrong there's a 50/50 chance your idea or comment gets either a small nod of acknowledgement or dismissed/ripped to shreds. and you can try to connect with him emotionally but there's a 50/50 chance your feelings either get an "i'm sorry dude, that sucks" or told that they're not reasonable/are too much. and things with him and my mom keep getting worse and worse -_- my therapist was like . It Sounds Like Your Parents Are Codependent and also your dad has been behaving in some emotionally abusive ways . and I just need to tell my mother these things and support her in setting boundaries and sticking to them. because I'm like 70% sure that if I told my dad what my therapist said he'd go straight to "oh so your therapist who knows Nothing because you know Nothing thinks I'm abusive and a bad husband and a shitty partner, and now you think i'm abusive and a bad husband and a shitty partner even after all I do for all of you?" and it's like GIRL you're proving my point RIGHT NOW . but whatever you're too fucking damaged to see it but that's fine because me and my mom and my kid brother are all more emotionally mature than you and if you don't change eventually then we're all going to choose to protect ourselves from your manipulation and disrespect and hurtfulness. and by the same token I love him and I want peace and happiness for him and I wish I could be closer to him but it isn't within my power to make any of those things happen. it's only in his. so i'm going to write him a letter and tell him kindly and honestly and intentionally and thoughtfully the patterns I've been seeing in his behavior, and when he blows it off I'll be able to accept that he'll never be what we all, himself included, wish he was and settle for relating on the grounds of distant decency. and if my mom hasn't left by then, i'll talk her into it.

everyone is always saying things like "it gets better!/be positive!/you need to believe it will get better and it will!/look forward to/wish/hope for a better future!/etc" you know, those type of things? maybe they mean well, but sitting here hoping and wishing for things to get better doesn't necessarily mean it will. especially if you don't have the ability to physically do anything about it. "thinking positively" doesn't mean your life will positively turn around suddenly on its own.
if you can't put in the work because of obstacles and barriers you can't do anything about, or because of consistent parts of your life you can't simply cut off because it's literally part of you, you can't say "things will get better" and they just do. you can't tell someone wotj chronic migraines that last for life that it will "get better" and give them false hope that their migraines will get better. it's better to encourage them to find ways to work around them such as finding a job that doesn't trigger them as much or something like that.
or if I put it more relatable to myself, telling me things will get better when i'm dealing with people and generally struggling due to being autistic and adhd. it won't ever "get better" because i'll always be autistic and adhd and struggle with people and life. I can only try to work around it to *maybe* make it a little easier *sometimes* but it won't ever get noticeably and consistently "better" because the world isn't built for me
when does this hoping and wishing become toxic positivity? when does it reach the point where it's more unhealthy to keep thinking "it will get better" when everything points to that not being the case? when does this positivity start blinding you so you ignore your problems and avoid them in order to appear positive outwardly even if you're obviously still struggling? when does it reach the point where accepting how things are and finding a way to work with or around it is healthier than blindly looking into an uncertain future, claiming it will get better, with nothing to show for or prove it?
people constantly yelling at me to "be positive/stop being negative/stop giving up/etc" when i'm being realistic and trying to find a work around when there's no solutions have forced me into this toxic positivity of "it's fine! i'm fine! everything is fine! nothing to worry about!" where I need to hide and ignore my problems to appear positive to them and make them shut up and happy. this always leads to more problems on top of the already ignored problems. I don't see how this is sustainable and why it's what everyone wants you to do???
if you dont have the means to change things, I feel like there needs to be a point you realize this and need to be realistic. staying positive can be a negative thing at some points. it can stop you from working with what you have currently and become detrimental in the long run if things ultimately don't get better. no one ever talks about what happens or what to do if it *doesn't* or *cant* actually get better. if you don't work on a foundation because you were waiting for that magical "better" moment to come, you won't be able to ever settle. you also may neglect your current self in the present, which won't ever help your future self.
besides, even if things "get better" they can even easier get worse again. if you had built that foundation, you won't fall as hard when it gets worse again. that foundation can catch you. you've been there and set up things to help you get through it, even if it's not ideal. if you waste your entire life away hoping or believing it will "get better" but it never does, then what? you could have found a way to realistically make it more bearable and live a little better life, rather than regretting in the end that it never did better
this is why I have issues with the whole idealistic "it gets better" rhetoric. it angers me that anything other than that toxic positivity outlook is seen as "negativity" and therefore bad. I prefer the neutral realistic and present approach to things. i'm just tired of that getting miscondtrued as "negative" all the time by literally everyone

"DETENTION!" shouted a rather angry Snape as you froze on the spot, staring into his dark eyes.
You had just messed up a potion. Again. And it had just exploded. Again. And it had hit Snape, something he didn't quite appreciate. He wasn't very fond of you to begin with but now he surely despised you.
You gulped down nervously as you watched his face contort in anger, cleaning up the mess your failed potion had just made.
"You'll be serving detention for three weeks, miss y/l/n. Every day after the lessons."
"What? Every day?" you asked incredulously but you immediately regretted it upon seeing the scowl already etched on his face getting prominently deeper.
"Every. Day. Starting from today, i'll see you here at the end of your lessons and you better be on time."
The bell rang and you made your way outside of the class not once looking up. The rest of the day went by without mishaps, but the constant fear of Snape's detention was enough to incessantly haunt your mind.
Your feet seemed to walk on their own as they brought you back in the dungeons, the fateful moment having arrived.
You entered the gloomy classroom and saw Snape sitting at his desk, a foul expression painted on his face.
"Sit." you did as you were told and sat down without a single word, looking at your table.
Just then, another figure entered the class and you looked up to see. You didn't know him personally but his reputation preceded him: Draco Malfoy.
The boy nodded to Snape who simply acknowledged his presence and returned his gaze to you.
"You'll be organizing every single item in this room without making anything explode. Although i'm aware it's a very difficult task for you, miss Y/l/n."
The blond boy snorted lowly while making his way to the cauldrons present in one of the corners of the room, but you couldn't retort, having way more serious matter at hand at the moment.
"Is it clear?"
"Yes, professor."
Much to your surprise, Snape made his way outside of the classroom, his robes floating after him.
"If i see you slacking around, i'll be sure to detract points from your house as well. Get to work." and with that he exited the class, leaving you alone with the blond boy.
You were quite dumbfounded but a snooty voice reminded you of your task.
"You better get going, these vials won't rearrange themselves."
You shot him a glare and he simply smirked, turning around and settling his cauldron on one of the tables.
You got up and reached the first closet, analyzing the items present: a bunch of ingredients, many you'd never heard of.
You began dividing them in alphabetical order, it being the most logical division, but that same arrogant voice resounded in the room once more.
"You have to catalogue them first."
"I didn't see him putting you in charge of this place." you retorted under your breath, hoping he wouldn't hear you.
"You're the one in detention, not me. I was just trying to help." helping obviously wasn't what he was trying to do, however annoying you seemed a much more plausible answer.
"I didn't ask for your bloody help, did i?"
He chuckled darkly as he reached you, taking some of the ingredients for himself and knocking down a few in the meantime.
You managed to catch them in mid air, but he didn't seem too bothered. You simply ignored him, silently rolling your eyes and deciding that that would have been the best way to endure the long hour that was awaiting you.
"What did you do anyway?" he asked once he had returned to his table, setting the containers on the wooden surface.
You ignored the question and he just laughed, obviously amused by the whole situation.
"Did you speak during his lesson? He usually assigns detentions for that." he commented.
You kept on organizing the colorful bottles, keeping your back to him.
"Did you cheat? I saw one try and they say he never came back from here alive." you rolled your eyes at his attempts at getting you to speak and continued with your task.
"Did you try to seduce him to get a better grade? I didn't take you for the type but i'm not judging." he chuckled to himself. You took a deep breath, the urge to just turn around and choke him very strong but having an already lengthy detention was enough, you didn't need Snape catching you while trying to kill your annoying schoolmate.
"You put the Asphodel in the wrong place." you finally turned around, visibly pissed off, and saw him slouched on his chair, arms behind the nape of the neck as he looked at you with a pedantic air.
"And why would that be?" you asked, annoyance audible in your voice.
"You put it with the liquids when it should obviously be with the powders."
"I'm not dividing by consistency."
"Well, you should." you rubbed your temples in an attempt at calming yourself while turning around towards the shelves once more. "Did you hear me? I said-"
"I heard what you said and i do not care. Will you be talking the whole hour?" you asked marching towards his desk and slamming your hands on the table.
"I don't know, will you do something right and arrange them the correct way?" you were fuming. A scowl planted on your face while a grin appeared on his.
"I don't know, i usually don't take advice from arrogant know-it-alls."
"And i don't usually help oblivious girls with anger issues but i was feeling nice today." he grinned, inching closer to you with the same smug smirk on his face.
"Oh you stupid little-"
"Miss Y/l/n, i thought three weeks were enough for you but apparently they aren't." Snape barged in right at that moment and you quickly stopped, jumping backwards and back to the shelves.
"I'm sorry, professor. It won't happen again."
Snape sat at his desk, picking up some pieces of parchment you imagined were essays and began analyzing them.
The hour passed by agonizingly slow and when Snape finally released you, he stopped you before exiting the room, making you walk up to his desk.
"How did you organize them?"
"Alphabetical order, professor."
"You'll be rearranging them tomorrow afternoon. I want them divided by categories." and he waved his hand dismissively, signaling for you to go without even a second glance.
You walked past Malfoy's table and he whispered, "Told you."
"Shut up." and you finally made your way out, exhausted, relieved, mad and already tired at the prospect of the next detention.
The following day, you got ready as always and sooner than you expected, the dreaded hour had arrived. The only solace: not having to hear Malfoy's tiresome remarks every second.
"Good afternoon."
A complacent smirk greeted you as you arrived in front of the classroom. You couldn't help but stare and narrow your eyes at the bothersome boy that sat on one of the tables, obviously waiting for Snape to arrive.
"Do you live here perhaps?"
"Do you, princess? Or were you just missing me?"
You passed by him and sat down at the farthest desk from him you could find, setting down your bag.
He got up from his previous place and sank down in the chair next to you.
"Oh come on, do you still think you can ignore me?"
You remained silent and simply side-glanced at him, uninterested in participating in his games.
Draco was about to say something when Snape finally arrived, causing him to get up and set his cauldron just like he had done the former day.
"Miss Y/l/n, i suppose you already know what to do?"
You reluctantly stood up and started reorganizing all the products you had so neatly arranged the day before, but unlike then, you worked in complete silence, Draco obviously not commenting with Snape present.
When the hour finished, you started to get out but Snape stopped you once again. You turned around, already fearing having to change the order for the third time.
"I decided you'll be practicing from tomorrow afternoon in order to prevent another... accident. Mr Malfoy here will tutor you."
"What?!" you shrieked and Snape didn't seem to appreciate it.
Draco seemed as dumbfounded as you for he had a rather shocked look plastered on his face.
"But-"
"Yes, Mr Malfoy?" Snape raised an eyebrow inquisitively and Draco shut his mouth after muttering a single "Nothing."
"But professor, he's-"
"He's at the top of the class so you'll finally learn how not to make everything you touch explode. Hopefully."
You rushed out of the room after seeing Draco's lips curling the slightest bit upwards and made yourself a mental note to curse him right after Snape whenever you had the chance.
You long pondered about not showing up, faking a sudden cold, but you wouldn't have been able to avoid it forever so the next day you presented yourself. You sat down at the table and took out your Potions book from your bag, opening it in front of you.
Snape eyed you, displeased as usual, but said nothing as you waited for Draco to arrive. It didn't take long and when he did enter the room you didn't even glance up at him.
"I suppose that won't be needed today." Draco had moved to pick up a cauldron but Snape interrupted him. "We don't want the class to blow up just yet."
You were expecting a laughter, a chuckle, but it never came. Draco sat down next to you and took out his own book.
"I have more important matters to attend now. By the end of the week, I expect you to actually learn something, Miss Y/l/n, or detention will be the last one of your problems." and with that he stormed off, his usual black robes swinging behind him.
"I didn't mean to laugh yesterday, just so you know." there was almost a hint of remorse in his voice, but you knew better than to trust whatever came out of his mouth.
"I don't care."
"Are you always this sour? I was apologizing to you." the usual contempt came back.
"Are you expecting me to be happy about this situation? Oh my! My dream of being tutored by Hogwarts' most arrogant twat has finally come true!"
"Do you think i asked for this? We are in the same circumstances!"
"You can walk out of that stupid door whenever you like, i can't!"
"Just because i'm smart enough to know how to brew a bloody potion doesn't mean i don't have to stay here!"
Your cheeks were burning with anger and after his last comment with embarrassment too. You returned your angry gaze towards the book sitting in front of you.
"Where are we starting then?"
"I didn't-"
"Where are we starting?" your tone was firm even though in your head all you wanted to do was collapse on your bed forever.
"Which one have you had the most difficulty with?"
"Every one. Every. Single. One." you replied through gritted teeth, angrier than before.
"I'm just trying to help you but i can't do it if you don't cooperate!"
You closed your book shut and shoved it inside your bag, slinging it across your shoulder and striding out of the classroom.
"Where the hell do you think you're going? You can't go out!"
"Thanks for the information, Mr Obvious."
You knew you would have been in great trouble with Snape but you couldn't bare Draco Malfoy for another minute, not like that.
You considered just telling Snape you couldn't do it, that you would have preferred to fail than have him tutor you, but knowing Snape, he was already aware of that and assigned you Draco Malfoy exactly because you couldn't stand him.
"Miss Y/l/n, Mr Malfoy here has told me you made great progress yesterday and I expect the same thing today. I give you permission to make practical work but i want everything in order when i get back. Can i trust you on that, Mr Malfoy?"
He nodded firmly while you still tried to figure out how in the world the conversation you just witnessed could have happened and Snape left you and Draco alone.
"Well, we better get to work and get that progress done or else we're both doomed." he waved you over impatiently but you were still staring at him, brows furrowed as you tried to understand his logic.
"What game are you playing, Malfoy?"
"Do you really think Snape would have appreciated it if i told him you decided to ditch detention?" he asked raising his eyebrows at you. "Oh, don't flatter yourself, i didn't do it for you. Come here."
You sat down at the table, still suspicious, and started to skim over the pages.
"Amortentia."
"What?"
"That's the one that made Snape almost blow up."
"How did you manage to make an Amortentia explode?! That's impossible!" he exclaimed while laughing, but there was no superiority in his tone this time.
"Not for me apparently..."
Draco stopped laughing and the two of you began studying.
He was actually more bearable than expected, still a little vexing, but you finally began understanding Potions. Suddenly, those concepts that you thought you could never grasp became completely comprehensible.
And his personality was a surprise too: you and him actually talked together, without any sort of malice.
"Do you think you're ready to brew it?" asked a slightly smiling Draco as he looked up at you from his book. He wasn't the obnoxious asshole you thought. Well, he was, but not entirely.
The two of you were relatively nearer than you were before due to the fact that he had come closer to read with you and explain carefully every single passage. You were so close you could feel his warmth. You were so close you could see that there was a light tinge of blue in his otherwise grey eyes, making them appear almost silvery.
"I suppose we can try..."
He stood up to gather all the materials you'd need and you did the same to collect the ingredients, making sure you picked the right ones, reading carefully the notes you had just taken.
He set everything on the table and looked at you, waiting. You placed the ingredients and looked at him, waiting.
"Well?" he asked, crossing his arms in front of him. "We don't have all day, you know."
"I have to do it?!"
"Yes? I already know how to do it." he replied, chuckling lightly.
"Because you're smart enough to do it?" you asked raising your eyebrow playfully. His smile faded slightly but you quickly changed the topic. "It'd be better if i just watched you do it, don't you think so?"
"I'll be here all the time and believe me, i do not intend on visiting the hospital wing because of second degree burns." you sighed softly and filled the cauldron with potioning water, setting it on a low flame.
You began adding peppermint flower heads, neatly pestled, and peppermint leaves under the watchful gaze of the blond boy.
You went on slowly with every passage, looking up at him from time to time only to receive an approving nod until the bell rang and you had finished.
"We'll have to leave it here overnight and stir it every day. It should be ready in a week or so..."
"So it's ok? It's a potion and not a potential weapon?" you asked gleefully.
"It should be once done, if you've done it correctly." he raised his eyebrow defiantly and you smirked, gathering your things and getting ready to leave the classroom.
"Are you sure it's the fifth time i stirred it?"
"Positive, just two more and we can work on another one."
Working with Draco was incredibly easier: he wasn't as strict as Snape and he was by far more enjoyable now that he didn't act like a prick. You could even say you were becoming friends.
In these few days with him, you learned more about potions than you had ever had in years and years with Snape. You were able to recognize the different ingredients just by looking at them and remembered all the passages clearly. You learned an awful lot about your tutor too: his interests, his friends, his family and the meaning behind his name, which was as fascinating as the boy that bore it.
It was now the thirteenth day of detention, which meant that the brewing time had passed and that the potion was most likely ready.
You felt slightly uneasy at the prospect of uncovering your Amortentia and discovering whether or not what you had learned was effectively correct. Nevertheless you made your way to the Potions classroom after the lessons like every other day.
Snape wasn't present: he would have tested you at the end of your three weeks detention, but you still felt nervous at the thought of disappointing Draco. He had helped you immensely and it would have been highly dismaying for him if you hadn't been able to brew an Amortentia after all his teachings.
Still, you pushed those thoughts aside and joined Draco, who was already in the classroom. His face lit up when he saw you and stepped closer, but stopped himself from hugging you.
"Are you ready to see whether you made a potion or a bomb?" he asked playfully, successfully breaking the tension.
"You're hilarious, really. You know that, blondie?"
"I've been told. Come on... princess." he added the last word with a smug smirk displayed on his face and you couldn't help but roll your eyes.
"Finally asserting my superiority, are you?"
"You wish."
He set the cauldron on your usual desk and stared at you, signaling for you to uncover it. You took a deep breath and removed the cloth that was shielding it, revealing a smooth liquid with a mother-of-pearl sheen. Spiraling fumes started rising from it and you quickly covered it with the cloth once more.
"What are you doing?" Draco asked, confused by your reaction.
"It's fuming. It's not a good sign in my experience." he giggled slightly and took the cloth from your hands, brushing them in the action.
"It's supposed to be like this, in fact, i think you just brewed a perfect Amortentia."
He removed the cloth once more and at his words pride took over your features.
"Smell it, it's different for-"
"It's different for everyone, i studied." you eyed him proudly and inched closer to the exhalations emitted by the draught.
"So? What is it?" he asked impatiently and you smiled widely at his eagerness.
"Mint... something similar to shoe polish i think... and honey..." you looked up at him, his eyes never once leaving yours. "Your turn."
He leaned in, placing his face closer to the brim of the cauldron and inspired deeply.
His eyes met yours again.
"Tell me, what are you smelling?"
You had moved closer to him, itching to know what he most desired. The distance separating the two of you almost inexistent.
"I told you, you have to-"
He cut you off by grasping your face in his hands and connecting your lips together. You melted in his touch but something inside you made you pull away.
"What are you doing?"
He looked at you with panic in his eyes and started to back away. You tried to grab his arms but he receded even more.
"I'm sorry."
And he ran out of the classroom, leaving you alone with one question: why did you pull away?

Hello! I just wrote my first ever plan for a story - before now, my writing has been mostly improvised. I’ve outlined it chapter by chapter with key details and points that I want to connect.
How did you plan out Cough Syrup? What structure did you use? Would you be comfortable showing?
Very curious and I’m HAVING FUN!
WOOHOO!!! SUPER HAPPY TO HEAR UR HAVING FUN :D
okay i would actually LOVE to talk about this but bear with me because this is kind of a lot.
so DSMP is not the first fandom i've written for, but it's the first fandom i've successfully had ongoing multichapters for. so i was pretty well versed in the whole multichapter planning gig but i was not... Good. at it. what i had done then was plan things out pretty meticulously, not every detail or anything but i had the whole plot settled before i even started drafting. and what would happen for me back then is that i would write a fic outline for a fic i didn't want to write. so it would just be an outline.
when i started cough syrup, i decided the plan (will be identified as Plan A for this) was just to Go For It. i had characterizations sorted out, vague plots, but not a ton of details hammered out. i'd go with it where i wanted to go with it, and that got me pretty far.
now the problem that arose from THAT is that i have a shitty memory. so i didn't want to retcon a lot of shit.
at around chapter 7 i think, i started assembling Planning Doc #1. Planning Doc #1 consists of: locations in the town of the fic; titles from song lyrics for chapts; fanart links; vague descriptions of cast i used a lot more earlier on than i do now; link to some character reference sheets; common misconceptions (AKA where a lot of the specific plot details i fuck up on go to die); plot points and scene ideas (i never use this anymore really); chapter summaries (no longer use post chapter 15); and where i keep the next chapter draft until it's completed.
now, something you can REALLY tell if you look at the first few chapters of CS to now is that my earlier plan of just Winging It caused a lot of weird inconsistencies. these fix themselves by like chapter 3-5 but they're still sort of odd. so this is when i started to think that i should give myself gentle suggestions for each chapter (Plan B) but still largely go with the flow
by the time i hit the draft of chapter 16, i hit ANOTHER problem, being that CS has several subplots that are really fucking hard to keep up with if you don't have chapters planned out, because i was writing things with no clear idea on where and when they would be going. Plan C involved the creation of Planning Doc #2, which i'll spare you from the details of but essentially includes numerous revamped (a fresh one as of yesterday has been added!) chapter outlines plus other random shit
so all this to say, as of right now, the way that I'm approaching the planning for CS is to have at least one scene planned per chapter-- some chapters have a LOT of details sorted out and it's more a matter of executing it + throwing extra scenes in there, some are really undetailed and i just fucking wing it. through this i can keep general track of how the plot lines are progressing and where each event falls so i know where to fix pacing errors or where things are progressing normally
i also leave a lot of room in my planning for, once again, random scenes. what used to stop me from writing fics with similarly detailed structures to CS at the moment was the fact that i didn't allow for scenes that i wanted to write for the sake of it. CS has the perk of me wanting to write 90% of the scenes i come up with, but i always allow for some space in case i want to tweak something (and remake my entire outline i digress), or just write something fun. also helps keep chapters balanced and not way too heavy or light when they need to be both at the same time
this is super super rambly but yeah ^-^ each fic has slightly different frameworks so i just stuck to CS bc it went through the most revamping, and also cos ive been talking for a while. super excited to potentially see this fic :O

"Initiate phase one," I added a growly undertone to my whisper, holding my phone inconspicuously, as if I was making a simple phone call. There was no answer but I didn't expect one: I was testing the voice recorder app that I had downloaded for the sole purpose of documenting and relaying the inevitable fall of one Flash Thompson.
Making my way through the crowd of students during the busiest time of the day, I made the most intrigued and outraged facial expression I possibly could. Spying my targets, I leaned against a nearby wall, putting a hand over my mouth in fake outrage, keeping my eyes wide and trained on the opposite wall. Just as I had predicted, the two sophomore girls started giving me side-eye by minute two of my staring and finally approached me as I contemplated the wall for whole five minutes.
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" The brunette asked, her blonde friend hanging a step back.
"Yeah, totally," I mumbled. "I'm, like, shook beyond imagination, but nothing, like, bad."
The girls traded a curious look, seemingly coming to some sort of conclusion. The greedy gleam in their eyes had me internally cheering. "What happened?" The blonde one asked, coming closer.
"I'm not sure if I should tell that to anyone," I stammered, watching them bodily move forward. "Well, okay, I can't keep quiet. But you must never, ever speak of it or I'll get expelled or something," I said nervously. They both nodded so rapidly it reminded me of Funko Pop figurines. "You know the senior guy, Flash? Brown hair, kinda hot?" Again, they both nodded, conspicuously grinning. "I think I just saw him in the closed girls bathroom on the third floor with, like, some brunette from Ms. Johnson's History class," They both gasped. Predictable. "But that's not the worst! They were like, y'know," I made an obscene gesture with my hand and they instantly covered their own mouths with their palms in shock. "And the chick was like 'is it in yet?' and he was like 'yah' and I just closed the door and ran, oh my god I hope they didn't hear me," I squealed at the end, playing the part of a mortified teenager.
All three of us giggled uncomfortably for a moment. The blonde girl stared at me suspiciously. "And what were you doing there?"
I faked a nervous stammer, looking around briefly and showing them my lighter for a moment. They both gasped and nodded in recognition. "Don't tell anybody or my mom is going to have kittens," I pleaded. Both of them nodded solemnly, noticing their own group of friends approach. I used the brief moment to get lost in the river of pupils and by the time they turned around to introduce me, I was already at the opposite part of the hallway.
For the time being, everything seemed peaceful. There were a few giggles and side-eyes directed towards Flash Thompson but nothing out of the ordinary. He was disliked by most of the student population even if nobody dared to admit it outright. I took care to walk around without my earbuds for the day and pulled out my phone to record the most interesting conversations around me whenever I caught the tell tale signs of a gossip mill beginning to run its course around the school.
"Oh my god, I heard about this girl that was caught fucking Flash in the girls bathroom and she literally said 'is it in yet', can you imagine the shock, jeez!"
"Some chick literally just rejected Flash because his dick was too small."
"Rebecca from AP chemistry told me someone saw Flash's micropenis. Poor guy!"
"I wonder if his girlfriend dumped him because he can't do shit, I mean, he doesn't look like the type to eat the kitty."
Those were just the highlights of the Friday afternoon. Come the weekend and the news of Flash's unfortunate condition will make the rounds through every single group chat that the school has and by the time Monday rolls around, nobody will have a clue who started the rumour in the first place. I had to carefully select the girls who were to distribute the rumour and I was happy with the outcome: Marissa and Layla with their squad of chatty, bored rich girls were the perfect choice. I thought they would jump at any opportunity to cause drama and I was right.
It was sufficient to say I was bristling with pride as I cut and compiled the audio track from today's school day before sending it to the group chat.
Clint, Peter and Natasha appeared online as soon as the message delivered and I was delighted at their response. Romanoff's kind words, specifically, made me all warm and mushy inside. I didn't resist the feeling, basked in it even as I did a happy dance around my room. Peter's nonsensical string of emojis was another point of laughter for me.
It wasn't exactly the smartest way to go about killing Thompson's reputation... Alas, simplicity is the way to success when it comes to large crowds of teenagers. That tiny little vindictive part of me was very much looking forward to the weekend and the results of the inevitable distortion of the rumour I had started. Who knew, maybe by Monday Flash Thompson would not only have a micropenis but horns and hooves as well.
Near bedtime, I had all the avengers send me their regards and thumbs up. I answered the flurry of texts as quickly as I could but there was no point in keeping up with ten or so people constantly streaming their questions, opinions and comments.
I settled on a single easiest response: pulling my dad's old uni sweatshirt over my tiny lacy pajamas to preserve some modesty, I settled in front of my mirror, turning on my Bluetooth speaker to play "Boss Ass Bitch". In true gen-z fashion, I put on my best resting witch face and solemnly lip-synced to the song's eponymous chorus. My eyeliner was sharp enough to cut paper and my prismatic highlighter glittered enigmatically in the cold light of my blue lava lamp.
The response was, once again, delightful and I genuinely belly-laughed at the adults' attempts to meme after Peter. His blushy face emoji started a whole nother conversation that I didn't participate in but watched from the sidelines with glee, snorting every time his friends and mentors gently teased him about the very obvious crush he harboured on me.
Seeing Peter starting to go absolutely nuts, I interjected with an offer (more like a dare) of a lip sync battle. He jumped on the bandwagon, immediately going offline to undoubtedly film an epic video of what I thought would be dorky-dancing to some hipster song. I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a pre-recorded tik tok video of him and Ned fighting with lightsabers while mouthing the words to Fergalicious that played over the Imperial March.
Weirdos. I still followed him on the app, though, it was pretty funny.
Bucky interjected with a very well executed rendition of "Bring Me to Life": he was wearing his full Winter Soldier get-up, complete with an AK-47, dramatically serenading Steve who looked seventeen shades of done with his partner's antics. Wanda's following twenty second voice message consisted of nothing but pure hysterical laughter, summing up everyone's reaction to the video. Bucky was going to go viral one of these days...
Obviously, I had good competition and nobody else seemed to want to participate so I rearranged my surroundings a little bit and stood up at my full height and swapped the old sweatshirt for a cute crop-top hoodie. My thigh-highs were on display and with my make-up, I looked like a proper internet e-girl. I leaned against the mirror as I mouthed along to the song with my best interpretation of the famous Lucifer smirk, seasoned with a tiny bit of angelic innocence: "Doctor, doctor, give me the news, I got a bad case of loving you..."
Needless to say, I won the competition. Eventually Wanda joined in, looking menacing and ominous with her dark clothes and Natasha's red hair flashing somewhere in the background; even Tony did a round (AC/DC as his soundtrack of course) with one of his Iron Man suits but nothing beat my stunt and the reaction that it caused.
I had accidentally called out Bruce with the choice of my song and his teammates gave both of us a lot of cheeky comments about it. We relented and flirted with each other a bit as the conversation flowed into more mundane discussion; I said my good nights somewhere between Tony's bitching about the hobbies of my generation and my nightly skincare routine. The little green heart that I'd become accustomed to over the past few weeks greeted me just as I was about to lock my phone.
Tumblr media
Bruce was really too precious for this world. My crush on him was different than the one on Tony, it mellowed out in comparison. I wanted him to hold me, to stroke my hair, to call me his darling and wrap me up in one of those dorky button-ups that he insisted on wearing in spite of Tony's unwanted, however very valid, fashion advice.
For all that's worth, the scientist probably knew or at least suspected and had the good grace to play along just enough to satisfy my deep need for attention... Without crossing any actual lines. It was frustrating, it was disappointing but I had virtually nothing to complain about. Besides, I didn't want to lose the quirky friendship that we had. Banner was, probably, the least judgemental person I knew and I wasn't about to trade that for an awkwardly stolen kiss.
Monday and Tuesday passed in a flurry of giggling and snorting every time Flash walked by. His girlfriend broke up with him, very publicly, accusing him of cheating and he didn't even deny it - just insulted her and stormed off, leaving even his friends looking lost and clueless. I started dragging Peter and his two pet nerds along with me just about everywhere I went in case Thompson decided to do something stupid again. If judging only by the looks he was throwing our little company, he was on his way to figuring out who began nibbling at his reputation.
The week was coming to an end and the rumour began dying off, slowly. That just didn't sit with me, I wanted the fucker gone. Due to the obvious time constraints, I approached MJ regarding Peter - after a brief argument, we came to an agreement regarding Peter's safety should I need to leave him alone in the hallways or at lunch.
I needed to do this alone so if I got caught, I won't drag them down with me. Granted, I would probably get something like a suspension and the school will attempt to call my mother (she never picks up) but that's about it. That's where her reputation comes in handy-people consciously avoid dealing with her, she can be that unbearable.
But first, I needed to get a teacher that's on my side. After carefully considering the candidates, I settled on my Social Studies professor - he taught the college-level classes and was overall a very chill, nice dude. And he disliked bullies with a flaming passion. So it didn't take me long to work him into a righteous fury - just a quick chat over a cup of tea in his homeroom and a few pictures of Peter's bruised face, complete with my own pleading puppy eyes. We agreed Mr Davies would "accidentally" leave the teacher's lounge unlocked during third period and I would sneak in. The plan wasn't foolproof but if it worked, not only Flash, but also his whole misogynistic, bigoted family would go down.
As I was leaving, Mr Davies looked up at me with a bright smile: "Give them Hell, alright?" And I suddenly noticed he was, in fact, very attractive. The smile brought out the fine wrinkles around his mouth, the crow's feet around his eyes - he smiled a lot. Silver strands mixed in with the wooden brown of his hair.
I let my eyes slide over him briefly before baring my teeth in return. "I owe you one," I don't know what possessed me to say that. My mouth really had a mind of its own sometimes. The room suddenly became hot.
"Sure," He replied, totally oblivious.
On Friday, I made myself a small nest in the empty classroom opposite the teacher's lounge and sat waiting for the signal from Mr Davies - he'd tap on the door once and I'd quietly go inside the teacher's lounge, retrieve Thompson's file and make my way back to the empty classroom to grab my backpack and carry the file to my locker for further examination.
The first part went successfully and I managed to snag Thompson's file. It was heavy and hefty, all the evidence of his rowdiness compiled into one flimsy plastic folder. There were A LOT of pink slips and I rejoiced internally: at least there was a paper trail of his exploits. The principal didn't do anything about it which was... If not against the rules then at least frowned upon; the plan was to take copies and anonymously submit them to the school board prompting at least an investigation into the blatant disregard for Flash's immoral and illegal behaviour.
On my way back I stumbled upon the principal herself which got me not only a stern talking to, but a whole detention for skipping class. Whatever, I was too elated from potentially ruining the life of a dumb fuck who ruined my friend's face.
Surprise came in the face of Mr Davies, who, having heard the commotion in the hallway, stepped out of his class and saw me being lectured by the principal.
"I'll take her for the detention," I heard the familiar voice behind me. The principal nodded solemnly and I had no choice but to sigh in resignation. "Three thirty, be here," He nodded to me, walking back, looking way too smug for his own good. So I wasn't the only one excited about the successful completion of stage two of my nefarious plan. Cue evil laughter.

The weather outside was definitely frightful. The blizzard was building in strength and it was making your body build up with worries. The boys had left almost two hours ago to get some last minute supplies. No matter how hard you begged and pleaded they promised they'd be more then careful and be back within the snap of a finger. Two hours ago and your lovers had yet to walk through that big wooden door.
You could feel your nails growing thin from the numerous amounts of times you've slightly bitten them. The blanket around your shoulders was providing little warmth as you stayed glued to the window sill. Just hoping and praying that the familiar black Cadillacs would pull into the driveway. You could feel the slight tears swelling up in your glossy eyes. Terrible thoughts clouded your already messy mind, just adding to the stress. Images of car wrecks and the boys heavily injured made your stomach drop.
You just wanted your boys home and you'd do anything to see them walk through that door. The time flashing on the clock was just slightly away from striking midnight. Your chest was getting tighter as the minutes passed. Even though you eyes were growing heavy, you never left that small sill. You needed to stay because you hoped they'd be home soon.
Just as your weak eyes were about to finally close for the night, blinding headlights shot through the foggy glass of the window. With a mind still in a sleepy haze the source of the lights never registered in your head until loud knocks banged against the wood. Hastily throwing the purple blanket against the floor, you ignored the sting of the cold tiles against your feet. You yanked the door open and was greeted with the sight of three red nose and puffy eyed men. Without thinking you raced through the snow and towards the trunk of the cars. A tight grip around your waist pulled you back as quickly as you stepped one foot in the snow.
"Baby, stay inside you'll get sick." Jimin spoke as he teeth chartered wildly in his mouth. His lips practically shaking as he wobbled into the house. "They're fine, just getting some bags."
You gripped tightly at the yellow bags in his hands and set them down in the kitchen floor. A small gasps left your lips the moment I've cold hands sneaked underneath your shirt.
"You're gonna freeze the poor girl!" Jin chattered as well as he blew hot air into his hands. His red nose running almost wildly as he made his way towards the fire place.
You gripped Jimin tightly as you buried your face in his shoulders. You wiped underneath your eyes as you pulled away. "I thought something horrible happened I was so worried. Now go get those snow covered clothes off and put something warm on."
He nodded his head as he passed the simple message on. The moment all the boys made their way up the stairs to their rooms you started pulling out the containment's in the bags. Wrapped a little sloppy, but nonetheless wrapped gifts stored within the bags. A small smile graced your face when a few gingerbread house kits were spotted as well.
"Those idiots risked their lives for a gingerbread house." You smiled as your fingers traced over the gumdrops decoration on the box.
"You wanted it so we went and got it!" Hoseok sniffed as he wrapped his arms around you. His icy body finding comfort in your soothing warm presences. "Yoongi was up for the idea, in fact he even suggested it."
"What about all the wrapped gifts?" You questioned while trying to fix the boys the hot chocolate. Turning the stove down to let the milk simmer.
"We...um about that, we knew you didn't want a lot of things, but we all found so many pretty things that would look absolutely amazing on you!" Hoseok rambled as he quickly dismissed himself to find the cups. An uneasy smile came over his face as he watched you. Not a single sound coming from you.
"You guys buy me enough stuff as it is, I couldn't get you all a lot this year." You sighed, and down casted your eyes. Guilt coated your body like a blanket, they spoiled you with anything and everything. You wanted new shoes, done, new clothes, done. You on the other hand worked at a small department store and it didn't pay very much. Hence the reason you could only afford two gifts for each of them.
"Princess, none of us care if you got us anything or not, all we ever want is you. Holiday or not you're always our present." An embodied voice called from the other room. Before you knew it a hand was spinning you around to face them. A gentle kiss was soon given to your waiting lips as well. It was almost deepen if a cleared throat didn't catch Namjoon's attention.
"Me and Joon got the cups go get settled in with the others. We'll try not to drop them." Hoseok nudged his head towards the living room where the rest of boys were longing to have you back in their arms. "And I'll make Jungkook put the presents under the tree."
"Already on it." Jungkook softly smiled as he placed a chaste kiss to your temple before grabbing the multiple bags. Who new the boy was strong enough to carry so many. You laughed lightly at the thought of him taking on so much exercise just to show off with some shopping bags. "Go and sit down the Christmas movies are already playing."
You gave a quick nod before making your way towards the four boys scattered about in the living room. "Who decided to go out and do some last minute shopping."
Everyone's eyes widen as they were sudden more interested in the movie then your harsh glare. No one spoke up as they forcefully laughed as the character slid through the snow on the tv. You tapped your foot impatiently as the room grew stiff with uneasiness. They said this was a last minute food run and return with hundreds of dollars worth of gifts apparently all of you. "You guys know I how I feel about this."
"We know baby, but -" Jimin tried to explain before you cut him off.
"I know you guys care, but I saw the tags! You went to a freaking Gucci store this late for a gift!" You rambled, upset simply by a Christmas gift. No ill intentions were thought when they got the gifts, they just wanted to see that gorgeous smile on your face. And they thought in order to see that smile on Christmas Day they'd get you something you wanted so dearly.
"We didn't mean to make at us." Taehyung said, his eyes clouded over in what looked like sadness. He fiddled with his fingers as he scooted further away from you on the couch. His movements stopped midway when your hand clasped over his big ones. "Baby...I."
The moment his voice crack you threw yourself in his arms. Taehyung was always a bit more sensitive when it came to you. He done everything in his power — they all did — to make you the happiest women alive. The thought of you being mad at him broke him entirely. "I just thought a smile matching gift would make you happy."
"Honey I'd be happy with a homemade card if it was from you. I don't need expensive things all I need is my precious is my boys. I cannot stress that enough." You mumbled into his neck as he held you tighter. His lips ghosting over the smooth skin in an attempted to keep him calm. "I love you."
He only wrapped his arm tighter around you as he pulled your body up to straddle his waist. The fact that this was a normal position no one batted an eye as they watched, neither did Hoseok or Namjoon when they finally entered with the warm drinks.
"So are you still mad at us?" Yoongi spoke as he reached for your hand. You rolled your eyes playfully as you let he intertwines them together. "Take that as a no."
"Of course I'm not mad, I melt the moment any of you put your hands on me. I just ask that next year you don't go so over board." You suggested as you pulled yourself off of Taehyung and settled between him and Yoongi.
"We make no promises, Love." Jin smiled as he happily slipped on his beverage. "Can't wait for tomorrow!"
"I noticed the gingerbread houses." You smiled as you tried to change the atmosphere.
"We'll work on those later today, but for now let's just watch our movie." Yoongi smiled as he rubbed his hands up and down your arms. "I love you so much, Y/n."
"I love you so much." You smiled as you pulled his head towards you. A seemingly sweet kiss soon turned heated the moment his hand slipped to your neck.
"Get a room."
"Don't mind if we do."

You didn't remember falling asleep or how you wound up in the soft confinement of your bed. With a heavy arm, more like arms, draped across your body. The heat radiating from their body with enough to almost smother you. You gave Yoongi and Jimin small pecks on their forehead before maneuvering underneath their iron grips. It was a miracle they didn't pin you down in their sleep, it's happened multiple times before.
"Geez Louise, look at the bottom of the tree." You gapped as you looked onward to see the stack of gifts practically multiple from last night. There were so many that the small space underneath the tree was so full the rest of the gifts were piled in stacks beside the tree. Stacks meaning definitely more then more.
"Come on, we're making the gingerbread houses!" Hoseok enthused when he spotted your figure at the doorway of the kitchen. His hands grasped your and pulled you swiftly towards the kitchen. "Not so fast."
"I didn't even do-" The sentence was cut short as soft lips were hastily placed against yours. You didn't protest as you wrapped your arms around his neck. His hands rubbed small circles against your clothed hips as he brought you closer. If that was even humanly possible. Sadly, you had to pull away due to the lack of oxygen. Before you could even asked Hoseok pointed a finger upwards. A small little treat was hung right in the doorway.
That little treat was something the boys loved to place around the house, in every place they possibly could. It was a tradition, they'd like to say. While you believed it was an excuse to kiss you every
Mistletoe.
Before you could even step another foot a soft hand cupped your face. Those familiar dark brown eyes that always held a mischievous glint, were staring lovely at you. "I'm next." Compared to Hoseok, Jungkook's kiss was more slow instead of a rush. A nice change, but you loved the feeling of both their kisses either way. Besides they both always left you with a longing feel for more. It was an effect all of them has over you.
"Okay time to see if we understand what we're doing!" You smiled giddily as you dragged him closer.  The next hour consisted of many mishaps with icing which resulted in your hair having more then just frosted tips.  "Yay! We're done!"
For once the three of you made something decent instead of a horrendous mess. A simple gingerbread house decorated with many pink and purple gumdrops, as well as the occasional candy cane. Most importantly the little iced gingerbread men. You all would've had more if a little brat would've kept his hands out of the treat bag.
"I love how this is what I wake up to." Jin said, sleep still evident in his scratchy voice. His eyes still drooping as he walked towards the fridge. Not before giving a peck to each of you. "By the way Namjoon is about to come in here, I'd clean up that icing if I were you."
"I'll go get the cleaning supplies." You stated as you rushed towards the bathroom. You quickly searched through the bottles underneath the sink and hastily grabbed your towel. You loved Namjoon, but the boy was practically a walking disaster. Having that icing on the floor would only add to the chaos that he could cause. "Oh come on!"
"I swear it was an accident!"
You softly sighed to yourself. The gumdrops were scattered about, the small little splotch of icing on the floor was accompanied by a lot more then the white icing that glued the pieces together. The gingerbread men as well as the entire house was in shambles on the floor. A whole hour and a half of work down the drain. Good thing they bought more then one kit.
"I told you to clean it up." Jin protested as he got his water and bolted out of the kitchen. He saw his chance to avoid this mess and he knew better not ignore his chance of escaping.
"Get the other one?"
"Get the other one. And make sure he stays out of the kitchen!"
                  »»————- ✼ ————-««
"I'm still so sorry about the house." Namjoon glumly said. A sad smile plaguing his soft features. The expression alone made your heart strings pull with guilt. You know he didn't mean it and you should've been nice when you asked him to leave.
"Honey it's fine. I know you didn't do it on purpose, besides we still had at least three more kits!" You tried to cheer him up and so far it didn't seem like it was working. You laid him across your lap as your small fingers made laps through his silky hair. The contentment in his smile made it clear is enjoying this. "I'm sorry I got upset."
"I'm not that little egg killed our gingerbread men!" Jungkook stated with a scoff as he stared at the two of you. A small glare delivered by you seemed to do the job of shutting him up really quickly.
"Enough with the tension who's ready to open a gift!" Taehyung suggested as he slid his way over to the bottom of the tree. His eyes gleaming with joy when he noticed one with his name on it. With a second he grabbed random names and passed them all out. A small smile of happiness grazed everyone’s face.
“Tae, are you sure something like this is for me?” Namjoon questioned as he raised his eyes a him. At the same moment Taehyung’s eyes widen comically as he took another quick peek at the back of the tree.
“I’m sure it’s for you, Hyung.” Taehyung breathed a sigh of relief. The action making you slightly suspicious and worried. You should’ve know Namjoon wouldn’t like such a small gifts. “Well what are you waiting for open them!”
Everyone tore into the gifts without hesitation and awed at each and every single one.
“My knight and shining armor?” Namjoon laughed as he read the incrusted words on the inside of the ring. It didn’t seem like a laugh of amusement, but a laugh of mere happiness. “Princess?”
“I just thought it would be a cute gift, since your only nickname for me is princess. I’m sorry I should’ve gotten you something more flashy you probably think it’s stupid.” You stifled a heartbreaking sigh as you looked down at him in your lap. His familiar touch was felt on your face as he cupped your cheek.
“This is the most sweetest gift I have ever received. I love it.”
“You’re not just saying that so my feelings don’t get hurt are you?” You accused while smiling softly at him. He smiled that heart melting smile and suddenly you were putty in his hands.
“I can now have a piece of you whenever we’re gone.” He spoke in mellow voice sounding like heaven in your ears.
“I hope mines from you, but we all know what I really want.” Jungkook beamed as he ripped out the package. His eyebrows creased in confusion as he stared at the small, empty brown box.
“You’ll get yours after the storm settles down.” You smiled. The bunny smile he was so lucky to have shines brightly. “But no huge ones.”
“Wait you’re actually getting the tattoos with me!” Jungkook bellowed as he races towards you. His hands cupping your face as he planted multiple kisses across your forehead, cheeks, nose and finally your mouth. His teeth grazing yours slightly due to the speed at which he delivered those chaste kisses. “I thought you hated needles! Please don’t do this if you’re only doing it to make me happy.”
“Kookie, I’m doing because I want to and getting cute matching ones with you would make it even better.” You said, trying to calm his worries. “I love you, bunny.”
“I love you, baby. Now open your gift.”
Namjoon raised straight up as the other began to form a small crowd around you. A small laugh of amusement echoed sounded like music to their ears when it passed your lips.
“Diamond earrings, wow they’re gorgeous.” You stated amazed at the sight of the lights sparkling off of the surface. The small glimmer making flecks reflect on your eye. The sight alone made all of them fall deeper in love with you. You were stunning in every aspect according to them. “Who bought these.”
“I did, also comes with something that matches.” Yoongi raised his hand slightly. His gummy smile becoming wider when you placed a kiss to his cheek. The boy with a sucker for all those sweet kisses you gave him. “I hope you like them.”
“I adore them, Yoongi, now where’s the matching item.” You tried to get up only for a hand to push you back down. Many protests were sounded through the room. “Humph, why can’t I have the matching item guys!”
“Our tradition is one present before Christmas that is your one present.” Hoseok stated. “Remember you’re the one who made the rule.”
“Well I didn’t think anyone would actually follow it.” You huffed as you crossed your arms and flung yourself back on the couch.
“You always got onto us if we even looked at another gift!” Taehyung added as he rubbed small circles on your thigh. His nails giving your skin a pleasurable scratch. “Besides only a few more hours until Christmas is here!”
“We can pass the time by watching those movies finally.”
    »»————- ✼ ————-««
They all stared at your sleeping form with peaceful smiles across their faces.
“Should we wake her up?” Jimin asked as he ran his hands through your hair. “After we go over the plan.”
“We leave the present for last and tell her it’s from all of us.” Jin stated as he took the familiar red, velvet box and hid it in the back of the tree. They really hoped this question didn’t take you off guard, and made you say no. That small word would absolutely send all their worlds crashing down in despair.
“Princess, wake up its Christmas!”
“It’s about damn time.”
You rubbed the cold from your eyes as you pulled yourself up. Eyes almost immediately darting towards the present filled floor. They gave a knowing smile as you quickly got in front of the lit up tree. Hands just grabbing away at random presents.
“I still can’t imagine how much money you all must’ve spent on these.” You softly spoke as you pulled the paper from one of the gift bags.
“For you, we’d spent a lot more then this.” Jungkook stated without hesitation as he pulled you between his legs. You softly leaned into his touch out of habit. “You still have one more gift to open.”
“I don’t see anymore.” You strained your neck to look over the couch and noticed nothing. The sight before you when you turned your head back around made your heart drop.
“Remember how I said the earrings had a matching item, well it matches, but it had a different purpose.” Yoongi cleared his throat as they got down on the floor. You couldn’t help the tears that were starting to gather in your eyes.
“Listen I know the seven of us are a handful, you have ever right to say no. But y/n we’ve all come to the conclusion that you mean the entire world to us and we want you as something more then a girlfriend. We want to establish the fact we’re a family. Would you complete our family and become our wife.”
The sob in your throat escaped before you could retain it. You launched yourself forward into Yoongi’s arms and he wrapped you up without a second thought.
“Oh god, I hope that’s a good sob.” Jin panicked, when it suddenly got loud. Everyone took a cautious step towards you. They were worried you hated them now, they were worried you were gonna pull away from Yoongi and declare those whole thing to be madness in the making.
“Nothing would make me happier, yes absolutely.”
“We love you.”
“I love you all with everything in me and nothing is going to change that.”

Synergy - Part 2
Part 1
Tumblr media
This is Part 2 of the first DamiRae I ever wrote... And it is long overdue. @ravenfan1242 Happy belated birthday!!!
Prompt List
---------
Figures.
A dark brow flew up as Damian motioned for Raven to board the plane ahead of him. Therein lay another poorly packaged excuse to check out her ass or legs. She had already caught him tonight.
Twice.
Ignoring a prickle of panic, the heels teetered her up the stairs. But moments later, the blinds drew up around a pale face at the window. Narrowed blue-violets scanned the tarmac, observing the animated conversation in Arabic. After he finished up with the attendants, long legs lifted him onto the jet with an irritating amount of ease.
Instead of taking a seat, Damian excused himself to prattle on some more. This time with the pilot.
A slew of impatient texts rapidly fired off to Beatrice. As more time was allotted to Damian, Raven increasingly relied upon her assistant. Since the initial meeting, they'd had over a handful of dinners. Accounting for flights and travel time, she'd probably been with him in the last month more than she had anyone.
As she typed, she glanced down at her blue-black nails with concern. Another side effect of breaking out of usual patterns - a lot of time between nail appointments. Although her veneer was overall impeccable, there was but the slightest crack breaking through to the surface.
An alabaster neck craned subtly in the direction he had disappeared to. She wasn't eager for his return or anything trite like all that.
But really, where was he?
He was certainly taking a while.
Did he think his time was more valuable than her own? They had barely discussed work when they were together. So what was to be accomplished between them, really? What was Damian trying to do - actually get close to her?
Suddenly, the familiar shuffle of Brioni loafers left her to ponder these deceitful thoughts no longer.
Finally.
Raven gave his olive-green sweater and black trousers a once-over. The hue managed to contrast with his dark skin in a distracting way, while simultaneously bringing out the color of his eyes, an arresting vert.
It was undeniable and utterly unfair for someone so aggravating to look like that.
Stupid, sexy Damian...
"Wayne. Thanks for dinner. You do have great taste." Raven noted. "I was skeptical about the use of your plane to take me to a ranch in Montana, but it was the best burger I've ever had..."
A hardened jaw slackened at her assessment. "Glad it was up to your standards, Roth."
"So far." Raven backtracked. "The best burger I've had so far." She couldn't concede completely.
"Tch..." He clicked his tongue in the way he did. "Next time, we'll swing by the coast and maybe get some ceviche..." Damian began, telling her what her future plans would be with an air that stunned and excited her. And he sat beside her, all the while moving closer to her, her hand laying on her cheek. "Or we'll do a weekend trip. Get some poke at this little stand on the side of the road in Hawaii -"
"Wait..." Raven held up a hand, recoiling slightly. Her indigo eyes flashed. "Damian?"
Damian let out a humorless laugh. "Is something wrong? Is it the fish? We have had sushi twice."
"No, not wrong...exactly." The pale girl worried the rose-colored skin of her lip.
"Alright, then." With that, Damian leaned back in his seat.
"What are you doing?" The man turned to her as if she was crazy.
"I thought I was having a good evening." His jaw was no longer loose, it tensed. Twitched. "What is it now, Roth? Do you have a problem? Or an itch?"
That patronizing attitude only confirmed her need to keep their distance.
"Just one." A pale finger gestured to the top of the sleek, white leather and polished cherry wood cabin. "Why are you sitting so close to me?"
His lips pressed into a hard line. "It's my plane. I'll sit where I want." Damian said definitively, offering no other explanation.
He was so irritating in that way.
"It's a large enough plane to comfortably seat twenty - at least." Raven tried. "Surely you can sit somewhere else besides next to me?"
The deep voice was barely inflected and unwavering. "I want to sit here."
"Your legs are longer than mine - that one has more leg room." Raven pointed across the aisle. "And you'd have the adjacent seat for even more room."
"Hmm. Still, no. I'm sitting here." The calloused hand tapped the arm of the seat, slowly, one thick finger at a time.
Raven gritted her teeth. "Damian, please."
"Make me."
"Make you?" Raven blinked rapidly.
She could barely believe the words she was hearing him speak aloud.
"Yes." The white teeth sparkled brilliantly against his deep skin. "If you want me to move so badly, why don't you make me?"
"Oh, I see." Raven smirked. "Are you finally making the change from a man-child to an actual child?" She retorted with her arms folded. "Long overdue, if you ask me."
"Yes, Raven," Damian echoed. His tone grew steadily more self-righteous. "I'm a child. And this child can sit anywhere he wants on his "PJ"."
"No. I am not going to stand for this." There were some things that were inexcusable. And this was one of them. "I know it's yours, but please - never call it that again. It's a private jet. It is not a PJ -"
Damian continued his tirade, as if she hadn't spoken. "And this child wanted his apartment, but of course you had to have your way there, as well."
Here we go.
Was this whole maneuver some ploy to seek petty revenge? "Fine." Raven retorted. "You like your planes and your cars, but Damian: Why won't you just find another apartment?"
"I'll have you know, I do have other things I desire - things that are not solely materialistic." Damian appraised her openly and received a series of smoldering embers. "And for the record, I have found a place..."
"Well, good." Raven mumbled. "That's great..." She tried again, but she was overtaken by an odd sense of loss. "Really great." The apartment was a source of guaranteed discord between them; it was something they bickered about consistently. And though she was happy for him, they had built up a rapport on top of this (supposed) slight. What would become of their banter without a collective source of contention? "Was yours also your first?"
"My first...?" He curiously searched her. "The first apartment I bought on my own - yeah." With the lessening of crackling static, the air in the cabin had begun to shift.
"Congratulations..." Raven offered. "Our firsts, they're always milestones..." And she swallowed. "So, I guess we can move on."
Damian repeated wistfully, "you want to move on from this?"
"Yes." The pale girl exhaled, relaxing her posture a fraction. "You lost the place you wanted initially, but maybe this one will be better?" She flicked the arm of his seat coyly. And Raven couldn't resist the compulsion to get one last dig at Damian. "Though, I doubt it." She hissed. "Second. Place."
"There." Damian growled, as if she had proved his point. "It's because of that..." He paused. "You say you want to move on, but you don't." Then he sighed, carving a rough hand harshly through his hair. "I - want so badly to like you, Roth. But, you just can't resist pushing my buttons. And gloating."
"I don't gloat, I'm confident." Raven spat. "And confidence comes from knowledge and experience, not arrogance." She was a CEO after all.
"Alright, bravado is good in business..." Damian licked his lips. "But, does that over-inflated ego satisfy you at the end of the night when you're alone in your office?"
Her dark bob shook at the lecherous undertone. "What are you getting at, Wayne -"
"You alone in your office, Roth..." His voice, it had gone dark and decadent. "Sliding off your Jimmy Choos under your desk and sinking back into your chair... To slip a hand up your thighs under one of your tight pencil skirts..." An angry flush was rising on a pale face. But her body warmed at his words, as it, like her eyes, found Damian a pleasurable point. And it too betrayed her. "Or how about in bed? I bet when you finally lay yourself down on top of those thousand thread count sheets, it's just you and your bloated ego. Does it manage to keep you warm at night?"
"Actually, yes. It does. But, thank you once again for your overly-invested concern." It was true about her ego. But if it ever didn't, she had a steady rotation of men to do it for her. "If you think you're going to shock me, you can't." She deadpanned. "Think about me alone, quite a bit, Damian?"
"You didn't answer my question..." The beautiful smile was cruel. "Raven, I'm not talking about the... uh, toys you've collected to keep you warm. I mean, have you ever had a real relationship?"
"Are you prying to prove a point?" Raven raised a brow. "In case you were asking "for a friend", you should know that, I have."
"I find that hard to believe." Damian scoffed.
As if.
"I think you're... projecting." Her heartbeat surged as she countered. "Wouldn't be the first time."
"There's that misdirected overconfidence making you assume things again."
"Misdirected? No, I think... you've never been in a relationship." Damian glared, she could even see his nostrils flare. "No... I know you haven't. You wanted to find out if I had been though... You've also mentioned, what did you call them... my toys - several times before now. So the question is why?"
"It's not as a big deal as you're making it." He rolled his eyes and settled back into his plush seat, facing away from her. "You're delusional."
Damian wanted to end this; he knew he was going to lose. But Raven was not going to end this. Not yet. She faced him. "So you're obsessed with my love life? I think I know why."
"I'm not doing this with you," He growled. With a click his seat belt came undone. "You're off base, Roth. You're not as perceptive as you think." Damian motioned to his temple.
Raven realized faintly that she did indeed "make him". But she no longer cared about that.
No. This had become so much more.
"I'm every bit as perceptive as I think I am." Pale hands unbuckled her own seat belt and inched closer. Damian started to rise, pulling out his phone, suddenly finding it fascinating.
"Sit down, Damian." Raven forced him back down into the white leather, and his phone clattered to the ground. Damian probably could have overpowered her, but he allowed it, just like she knew he would. "You wanted to sit here, this plane is your real estate, so don't change seats on my account. I'll accommodate you."
"You're - crazy." Wide emeralds darted around madly.
"Yes, I am." She leaned on either side of his arm rests. Raven had caged him in. "You knew that already. And yet you keep inviting me out."
"What are you doing?"
"Proving my point." She gripped his hair in a fist. As his cool façade cracked. The faintest hint of pink rose up his cheeks, as he glared at the floor. Damian refused to meet her eyes, but she wanted to see it. The seconds leading up to the break, when he gave in to her. Raven pulled his hair back with a devious, self-satisfied smirk, forcing him to look up.
In what was so obviously a last ditch effort to keep his pride, he growled, "Roth, I'm warning you. If you don't get your highfalutin manicured talons off me -"
"You'll what, Wayne?" His Adam's apple dipped down again. Damian was all bark and no bite when it came to her.
They both knew that.
"Do it, Raven. By all means, test me..." Underneath, she could hear a faint plea masked by his harshness.
"I bet you'd like it if I did." And Raven knew he longed to see what she was up to.
Raven concentrated on the widening stare of deep jade, finding herself transfixed. That unique shade, so much darker and more dangerous than dollars. Damian's dollar bills... She could recall to mind a certain photo shoot. But in her mind, it was decidedly less philanthropic.
Damian Wayne. Hard and sculpted under taut, rich caramel. Supine and outstretched. Enticing with nothing but dollars sliding down his decency. Down and down they fell... Raven licked her lips, feeling famished after that huge meal. But in a way that was more carnal.
"What the hell are you staring at anyway?"
