"Oh dude she's gone."
"You shouldn't have smoked her out man."
"She wanted me to!"
You can distantly hear the three of them arguing. Han is, once again, thrown under the bus as Felix and Chris blame him. To be fair, everyone's high out of their mind. Whatever Felix bought back from California hits.
Han is warm as you snuggle against him, his heartbeat irregular as he keeps defending himself. When you told them you get a little excited when you're super high, they thought you'd be bouncing off the walls. Instead, they had to keep you from clawing Han's cock out to bounce on that.
"I'm not even that high," you speak up for yourself. "I just want a little fun, that's all."
Chan scoffs, bloodshot eyes looking at your droopy ones. "You are that high, actually. The sober you that I know would punch Han before he even thought about touching you."
The image of slapping the man you're sitting on makes you laugh hysterically. You're gasping for air, clutching at your chest as you cackle. Your exaggerated laughter makes Felix chuckle, and it doesn't take long until all four of you are on the verge of throwing up from giggling.
"But I like the way he feels," you manage to speak after your chest heaves. "Hannie's so soft and warm, it feels so good." It's not smart of you to talk like that when Han's cock is underneath your ass. You can feel like twitching in response.
You softly grind your ass against it, humming. "You like it too, huh Hannie? Do you want to touch me?"
"Hey. That's enough," Chan's voice is stern, but you don't miss how his eyes drop to your bare thighs. Han freezes under you, scared that moving might make his cock hard.
You roll your eyes and grind against Han again, hearing him hiss. "For fucks' sake Chan, I'm high, not drunk." There's not a care for the aftermath in your head. It feels as though there'll be no repercussions, that time has frozen still for you. For this moment.
Still, Chan shakes his head. "Doesn't matter, you're not in the right mind."
"If you don't wanna fuck me Chan, Hannie will." You turn your attention back to Han, who's struggling under you. He's hard now, but his hands stay placed on the cushions. "You'll play with me, right Han?"
His eyes dart from yours to Chan's, unsure. "I dunno. What if you get mad at me in the morning?" You coo at his uncertainty. Reaching for his hands, you place them on your hips. His fingers dig into your soft flesh, pulling you closer to him.
"I would never be mad at you," you promise. "Just touch me."
That’s enough permission for Han. He parts your thighs while Felix and Chris are front-row viewers. Getting high was just an excuse, you've always wanted him to touch you. For all of them to touch you. It's why you didn't wear any shorts under your skirt. A black thong barely covers your cunt, and Han is quick to play with it.
His fingers slip behind the material, finding your clit easily. He gently rubs you in circles, moaning in your ear. Han slips his hand out and places it over your underwear, rubbing that instead.
It makes you whine, bucking your hips in protest. You're about to complain when you catch the other two boys staring. Felix is on the edge of his seat, staring at where Han touches you. Chan is the opposite, crossing his arms over his chest as he leans back in his seat. He looks irritated but there's dark arousal in his eyes.
You let Han make a show of you, getting you to drip down your ass.
"Fuck," you hear Felix swear. His voice sounds deeper if that was even possible. His lips are wet from how constantly he's licking them, but he makes no move towards you.
Han pinches your clit. The sudden grasp makes you whine, hips lifting in the air before he forces you back on his lap.
"I don't have a condom," he whispers in your ear. You shake your head aggressively, "I don't care. Put it in."
Chan opens his mouth to say something but snaps it shut. His jaw clenches as he watches Han slips his hand between the two of you, releasing his throbbing cock. He doesn't want to hear you complain in the morning about this, it's your fault.
Han pulls your panties to the side and slides his cock against your folds. You arch your back into him, moaning. You look down to watch his dick collect your juices, lewdly making noise. Then he angles his cock down, catching your entrance.
You have to slightly lift your hips when his tip goes in. The stretch is far from painful, and it feels like you're on cloud nine. You slam your hips down on Han impatiently. He whines behind you, body shaking and his arms wrap around your waist.
It's a struggle to keep your legs open for the other men to see, but you hook them over Han's legs for support. Han starts slow, unused to the feel of your cunt. He groans in your neck, biting your skin. "Fuck, that's good pussy."
You only hum in response as you feel Han fuck into you harder. It sends overwhelming shocks of pleasure throughout your body. Your mind grows hazy, vision blurring. You've touched yourself while high, and that alone was a trip. To have someone bury themselves deep inside you, to feel their hot dick slip in and out of you, it feels like you're at a constant high.
Felix is the first to break. He stands to his feet quickly and takes long strides toward you. Han slows his thrusts, unsure if Felix wants a turn with you already. He grips you a little tighter, possessively.
Both of you are shocked to see him fall to his knees in front of your pussy. He pushes the thong further out of the way with his thumb, looking up at you.
"Can I?"
You're nodding before he even finishes, "Fuck yes."
You cum at the feel of Felix's plush lips. Your walls clench and grip Han's cock tightly, making him thrust into you deep. Felix has to keep his hands on your thighs to keep you still. It's obvious you came with the high-pitched moans and convulsing body, but neither of them made a move to stop.
"Shit, I can feel her creaming on my cock. Fuck, Felix lick me too," Han rasps out.
Felix is quick to comply. You feel his tongue dip past your pussy presumably only onto the few inches of Han's cock that isn't in your pussy. Han trembles behind you, hips stuttering into yours. Felix reaches back up to your clit, running his lips over your nub before he lightly sucks.
You don't have much energy to grind on his pretty face, so you lay there pliant as Han fucks into you earnestly and as Felix gently eats you out. You bury your hands into Felix's green hair, desperate to grip onto something.
The hot sensation builds in your stomach again, this time much more intensely. Han can feel the clenching of your walls, the added wetness your pussy drools out. The pressure in your tummy feels different, hotter, and unstable.
"Felix!" You cry out. "I'm gonna cum again! Fuck, I think I'm gonna squirt!"
You think he might back away, but he buries his face deeper, sucks a little harder. "Give it to me baby, I want it all over my face."
The force of your second orgasm makes Han's cock slip out. Felix's face and Han's thighs are victims of your release. You coat them sheer with your orgasm, watching how Felix keeps his mouth open to drink your release.
He gulps down the remaining spurts of your pussy, a smile on his face. "Yeah, Han. That's good pussy alright." Felix stands, looking down at your wrecked state. He bends down and kisses you roughly, making sure you can taste yourself on his lips. Then he moves behind you to kiss Han who already has his tongue out. Both of them moan in the kiss, making your pussy throb even more.
Felix unbuckles his belt and pushes his pants just down enough to reach for his cock. You drool at the sight, moaning softly. He pumps himself a few times, then taps his tip on your swollen clit.
"Think you can handle two at a time baby?"
Before you can even think to answer, Han butts in. "You should be asking me that. I don't think I'll last much longer." The two of them laugh, and then Felix looks back at you. "Can you?"
Biting your bottom lip, you nod. "Yeah, just go slow." Han and Felix nod in unison, "Of course baby."
The two of them angle their cocks into your slightly gaping entrance. Han pushes the tip of his cock in first. Felix follows quickly after, pressing his tip against Han's. You let your head fall back between Han's neck and shoulder, relaxing your body. It's quite easy since you are already elated, but there's still a painful stretch as they slide in.
You hiss when they stretch you out, their cocks halfway in. Han tightens his grip on your waist and pecks your forehead. Felix soothingly runs his hands against your thighs and kisses your exposed neck. "Doing so good, you're almost there."
Their comforting touches encourage you to try harder. They sink further in and you gasp.
"Chan," Han calls his hyung who's been overly silent throughout the whole thing. You almost forgot he was there.
"What?"
"Think our baby needs a bit of help. Come on."
Chan shouldn't help. He told you many times this was a bad idea, but no one listened. Still, watching your teary eyes get to him. The way your face contorts from discomfort. You looked so pretty cumming over Han's cock, he can't imagine what'd it be like to cream over both.
He finds himself standing and walking over to you three, standing beside Felix.
"Mate, you need to Han bottom out first. Here." Chan hands one hand on Felix's waist while the other guides your stomach downwards. Han moves his hips up, slowly filling your walls. You squeal and tremble, but it's bearable.
"There you go," Chris coos. "Make sure you go deep Han. Felix needs as much room as he can get."
Han obeys his friend, making sure to bury himself to the hilt. You feel him push past what you thought was possible. Your legs threaten to snap shut, but Felix's iron grip keeps them open. Han can feel how tight your pussy is, how good it feels to rub against Felix's cock.
Chan taps the green-haired on the waist, "You're good to go."
"Oh," your eyes roll back to your head. Your lips spread deliciously when Felix pushes the remaining inches in. You can feel how your clit slightly rubs against his girth, making extra warmth flow out of you.
Your reactions make Chan chuckle, smiling for the first time in what seems like hours. "Feels good huh? Taught him well." He playfully slaps Felix on the ass.
The two of them feel heavenly in your walls. All three of you are a moaning mess, content with staying still. It's not until Chris clears his throat that Han begins to move. Shallow thrusts into your pussy that make the trio whimper.
Felix moves with longer strokes. They don't match each other's thrusts, but the speed is the same. One goes in while the other goes out, then sometimes it's at the same time, then it's everything in between. Your walls loosen after a few testing strokes, and they're fucking into you roughly in no time.
Chan tucks a strand of hair behind your ear, getting a good view of your face. It's then that you notice his hard-on, how painful it must be in his jeans. Wordlessly, you open your mouth, tongue lolling out. Chan laughs at your directness, "You sure?"
You respond by using your weak fingers to unzip him, "Yesssss."
He laughs again and helps you undress him. His cock is the biggest of the three, in girth and length. You're thankful he isn't in you, there's no way you could've handled it. Chan taps the head of his cock on your lips, smearing his pre-cum.
Then he pushes in gently, not to disrupt the boys using you. He's hot and heavy on your tongue, slightly salty. Truthfully, getting as high as you did always leaves you with a dry mouth. You find it difficult to provide enough spit for Chan's cock.
He doesn't complain though, and never pushes you past your limit. Chan uses his hands to jerk what you can't fit in your mouth. You want to protest and say you can do it yourself, but with how good Felix and Han are fucking you, it seems impossible.
Han's cock twitches inside you, a warning for his orgasm. "I'm gonna cum. Fuck baby I'm gonna cum in you."
You hum around Chris's cock in response, and soon enough you're filled with Han's cum. It's warm in your stomach and you feel it pool onto the sofa. Felix moans at the extra lubrication, finding it hot to see him fuck the cum out of you.
Han's cock stays inside of you. He likes to think Felix and you help ride out his high. He turns his head to watch you suck off Chan, groaning. Han opens his mouth and sticks his tongue out, looking up at Chan expectedly.
The eagerness in Han's eyes has the older man raising an eyebrow, but he indulges nonetheless. Chan slips his cock from your mouth and places it on Han's tongue.
Han is in a better condition to suck. He even does the honor of spitting on Chan's dick. He licks and takes his cock almost to the hilt before gagging. The sight makes Chan moan, and he puts his dick back in your mouth. Your lips are much softer and your mouth is hotter. Han's is wetter though, and much more usable. Chan settles for using both of your throats.
You're thankful for Han helping, it's hard to focus with Felix still pounding away. His fingers are for sure going to leave a bruise, and your pussy may not be the same after this. With your warm pussy and Han's cock, Felix can feel his balls tighten and how his hips lose their momentum.
He doesn't warm you when he cums. There's just his deep, consecutive moans as Felix fills you to the brim. Your legs tremble, and you're cumming before you're aware of it. Chan has to use Han's mouth more often as you moan and whimper through your orgasm.
Felix rides his high out when Chan forces your head to face his cock. He jerks himself quickly, tapping his tip on both your and Han's tongues. Chan cums on both of your faces, hot spurts landing on your cheek and lips.
Your tongue pokes out to get a taste, moaning.
Felix finally pulls out, making you whine. Han follows suit, letting his soft cock leave you empty. Chan lets you give his cock extra kisses while Han unwraps an arm from you to wipe his face.
Chan has to pry you away from his dick, chuckling when you protest. He tucks himself away despite your complaining.
The four of you untangle from each other. Though the couch is small, all of you manage to snuggle against one another with you and Han in the middle. All of you are shining in afterglow and cum, with complete disregard for how you might react in the morning.
Han picks his head up to overlook all of you, a playful scowl on his face. "And you were mad at me for smoking her out."
a/n: man i...I dunno what to say. this is totally self-indulgent. the way I need this to happen. thank you anon 🍃, I truly needed this

Hey jade, I hope you had a good Christmas,
Love your writing so much it brings me so much serotonin 🤣🤣 I have a request for hotch if you’d be up to it, I just love this man’s patience and understanding and would love to see him interact with reader who struggles with sex? Or just sexual stuff in general, like maybe she feels really embarrassed about it and doesn’t know how to talk about it with him? Idk if this is something you’d be interested in just thought I’d throw it out there. Regardless, I can’t wait to see what you post next ♥️♥️♥️
hotch lends you some comfort when a certain topic flusters you, 1.1k
cw adult themes, mdni
“It's almost cheaper to have kids.”
You scoop your gaze from the deodorants. “What?” you ask, looking first to Hotch, and then to his eyeline. “Oh.”
The grocery store boasts a few rows of contraceptives. Condoms, dental dams, and under that, lubes and stimulants in candy rainbow colours. Thirty one ninety nine for silicone-free, aloe vera flavoured lube. Twenty seven for o-gel.
You avert your gaze without fact-checking him on the condoms, laughing awkwardly as your heart races. “Right.”
“I'm kidding. Just feeding Jack is a surprising expense.” He says surprising like it's delightful. “Good thing we have cushy jobs.”
Oh, he's feeling funny tonight. Your laugh is authentic as he takes your arm, the basket in his other clinking as he starts forward again. You finish your quick stock up and Hotch pays for your things despite your protests, packing you and the bags into his ‘cushy’ car.
You're a little embarrassed in the passenger seat. Your relationship with Hotch is complicated in that while you're in the official early days, you pined for a long time. You're undoubtedly in love with him, and though he's your boss and your senior, he seems to have taken a similar liking to you, hence another chilled out date night upon his invitation. And you've you've messed around like teenagers with kisses too hot and hands wandering, but you haven't fucked, and it's a problem, because your usual awkwardness around the subject grows bigger the longer you wait.
Hotch can wait forever if he wants, you're not trying to rush him. If he wanted to fuck you tonight you'd probably be too nervous anyhow.
You can't talk about condoms. How are you going to cope when you have to use one?
Your stomach churns the longer you think about it. Hotch doesn't react at first, but you know he's figured you out when he covers your hand atop your knee and gives it a squeeze. You okay?
“Can we turn on the radio?” you ask.
His hand lifts away slowly. He turns on the radio, and you think, oh, he's mad. No, not mad. Irritated, maybe, or confused. That's not fair to him. You think it anyway, sick to your stomach as he parks in the parking garage under his building and you make your way up.
He doesn't pull any punches —as soon as you're inside with your shoes off and the door locked, he puts the groceries on the counter and looks at you until you meet his eyes.
“I'm sorry,” he says.
“What for?” you ask, startled.
“I made you uncomfortable. I didn't mean to imply anything before you're ready.” He's handsome like this, earnest, his eyebrows raised and an inviting palm held open on the counter beside him. “It was a poorly judged joke.”
“No, no, I,” —you bring a hand to your mouth, cover it, uncover it— “don't mind if you want to joke about it. It would be weird to care, right?”
He hears an insecurity in your tone you don't mean to reveal, and he pieces it together swiftly. Understanding lines his eyes. “I don't think so,” he murmurs.
You're embarrassed beyond words, but he is your boyfriend. He asked with a little expensive bracelet and your favourite baked treat from the bakery near work. You'd only ever mentioned it once, but he remembered. He knows you well, and he's never given you reason to be afraid of his reactions.
“It's just so embarrassing,” you mumble, staring down at your socks.
“What is?” he asks, crossing the kitchen to take your hands. “You don't have to be embarrassed about anything, you're perfect.”
Your breath catches, your neck cracking uncomfortably as you look up. “I– I don't know how to talk about it. I know it's childish.”
“No, it's not. It's a big thing, and it comes naturally to some people, but not everyone.” His brow furrows a little, the warm depth of his voice working to unspool the tight panic you'd been clinging to, “I'd never push you to do something you're not ready for.”
“I know that. It's not you. And I don't know if I'm ready or not, it's just–” Your face is hot enough to boil rain. You shake your head. It's too difficult to explain.
Hotch ushers you into his solid chest. “It's okay,” he says, patting your back gently. “Don't worry about it.”
“I want us to be like everyone else,” you confess.
“We are. You're not the first woman to get nervous about the idea of intimacy, sweetheart, I promise. And I'm not the first man to make a bad joke about contraceptives.” He laughs as you laugh, two huffing chuckles as he presses his lips to the top of your head. “You can take as much time as you need to get used to the idea, and if it's still weird when you're ready, does it matter? We'll be weird about it together. Or we won't be. Okay?”
“Yeah, okay… thank you, Aaron.”
“I waited a long, long time for this,” he says, giving your back a pointed little squeeze. “And it's more than I ever thought I'd get. I'm not worried about the rest. I'm in no rush, and you shouldn't be either.”
You hide your face in his chest for a while, somehow more embarrassed than when you'd started. He draws lines up and down your back with his palm patiently. “It's okay,” he says again, kissing the side of your face. After a moment, he encourages your head back with a hand on your cheek, checking your expression carefully before leaning in for a kiss. His hair tickles your forehead.
To your relief, it doesn't make you nervous. He probably never could, not when he's touching you so softly.
You're feeling a hundred times better when you pull away. A tad mortified still, but relieved to know your struggle with talking about it isn't a turn off. If he can stick with you through this bump in the road, you can try, at least, to overcome it.
“Is lube really thirty two dollars?” you ask in a whisper.
“I don't know. I've never needed it.”
He spends the next ten minutes laughing and apologising sincerely as steam pours out of your ears.

a/n: highkey i recycled this idea from myself b/c jealous Joel is like...so hot to me. i love this trope, my favorite variant is when he gets aggressively possessive however i don't think i can top some of the amazing fics out there that have gone that direction so i took a softer, fluffier approach to it. also, happy tlou finale day everyone, we'll get through it all together
Jackson, Wyoming
Winter 2024
“Before you head out for patrol, I just wanted to say that I had a great time with you last night.”
Joel’s blood boiled hot in each and every single vein in his entire body as he watched the scene that was unfolding before him just outside of the horse stables. It was late in the evening, and Tommy’s group was gearing up to head out for tonight’s patrol.
You had just finished saddling up your borrowed horse, Daisy, when Owen had sauntered up to you. Joel didn’t know the man, aside from his name. He had been placed in Owen’s patrol group once or twice in the past several months since returning to Jackson, but for the most part, he’d never spoken more than two words to him, and even when he had, it was only when he really didn’t have a choice. Though he didn’t know Owen, one thing was for damn fucking sure—he didn’t like the way that he was looking at you.
And he definitely didn’t like the way that you were looking at him, either.
In the decade that he’d known you, Joel had never seen you lay your eyes on another man before, not until this very moment.
And it was bothering the fucking shit out of him.
“Yeah, I had a really nice time too,” You replied, flashing him a warm and friendly smile. It was in your nature to be sweet and kind to just about anyone you felt you could trust, that was nothing out of the ordinary, but seeing you interact so effortlessly with him only made Joel’s anger bubble even hotter.
Owen reached out to take your hand in his and Joel angrily clenched his fists the moment he touched you. “We should do it again sometime. Maybe on a night when you’re not stuck with patrol duty?” he suggested.
You nodded, smiling once again. “Sure, I’d really like that.”
Joel couldn’t fucking take it anymore.
He was mere seconds away from losing his goddamn mind. Though he had every desire to go up to Owen, snatched his hand away from yours and give him a piece of his mind, Joel had to remind himself that the last thing he needed to do was cause any kind of trouble in the settlement—Maria wouldn’t have any of that in her community, even if he was her husband’s brother.
After taking a minute to somewhat calm himself enough to a point where he knew he wouldn’t throw a punch, he stiffly walked towards the two of you, calling your name. “Hate to interrupt,” he practically sneered, “But we’re startin’ to lose our time. Tommy’s waitin’ for us at the gate.”
Owen grinned sheepishly, squeezing your hand. “Sorry about that, Miller. I didn’t mean to keep your patrol partner, here.”
Ignoring him, Joel narrowed his dark brown eyes at you. “Get on the horse and let’s fuckin’ go. Now.”
Your smile faded, your mouth falling open slightly in shock at his tone.
Though you knew Joel had always been rough around the edges with other people, he’d never spoken to you like that before. For a brief moment, it almost felt like he’d just slapped you across the face.
Without waiting for your response, he whirled around on the heel of his leather boot in the snow and stalked off towards his waiting stallion, his rifle hanging over his shoulder.
Owen frowned, letting go of your hand. “Jeez. What’s his deal?”
“I don’t know.” Your voice wavered slightly. “But I’m certainly going to find out.”
After bidding a quick goodbye to Owen, you quickly walked over to Joel just before he could climb up into the saddle of his horse.
“Excuse me, but what the fucking hell was that?” You asked fiercely as you approached him.
With his back still to you, he rigidly replied, “What was what?”
“Get on the horse and let’s fucking go. Now,” You mimicked him, crossing your arms over your chest. “How dare you fucking talk to me like that! What’s your fucking problem?”
He remained silent.
“Joel?” You waited for a moment, but still, he said nothing. “Hello? Joel, I’m talking to you! Answer me!”
Slowly, he turned around to face you. His eyes had gone stone cold.
You’d seen him give those eyes to others before, but he had never given them to you.
“In case you’ve forgotten, we have a lot of work to do around here. Tommy and Maria expect both of us to pull our fuckin’ weight if we want to stay here. You understand that?”
“But Joel—”
“We don’t have time for you to stand around flirtin’ with your little boyfriend over there and wastin’ time.”
Despite being angry, you could have laughed—you almost did.
Not wanting to add fuel to the fire, you managed to hold it back.
“First of all, we’re not fucking teenagers, Joel, so cut that shit out,” You said, letting your arms drop back down to your sides. “I hardly know Owen. We met at the Tipsy Bison last night, we had a few drinks and we were just telling each other that we had a good time, that’s all.”
Joel snorted, rolling his eyes. “Well, ain’t that fuckin’ sweet.”
You raised your eyebrows at him, taken aback by his behavior.
“You know, if I didn’t know any better, Joel Miller, I would say that you were jealous or something,” You accused him. You felt a shiver go up and down the length of your spine. It was hard to tell if it was because of the frigid, negative degree temperatures outside—or was it due to the fact that there was actually a possibility that the man you had been helplessly in love with for almost ten years now was bothered by the idea of you being with someone else?
He scoffed in response. “Don’t fuckin’ flatter yourself, sweetheart. I ain’t jealous.”
“Then why the hell are you so upset?”
“I ain’t upset, either.”
“Okay, then why else would you be acting like such a damn asshole towards me?” You challenged him, causing his jaw to clench tightly. “If you’re not jealous, then why do you look like you’re fucking ready to murder Owen with your bare hands?”
Joel groaned out of frustration. “Jesus, can you just fuckin’ drop it? We have to leave before Tommy—”
You reached out and grabbed his arm. “We’re not going anywhere until we talk this out, Joel. I need to know what’s going on with you. Please. Just fucking talk to me.”
He snatched his arm out of your grasp and took a step back. “What the fuck do you want me to say? That you’re absolutely right? That I’m fuckin’ jealous? That the second I saw that prick take your hand, it took every single ounce of strength I had inside me not to walk over and knock his fuckin’ head off his shoulders?”
You exhaled the shaky breath you hadn’t even realized you’d been holding back. “Joel, you have no fucking right to be jealous. You know how I feel about you, you have always known how I fucking feel about you. But you were the one who told me that we couldn’t be together, that we could never be together.” Your voice began to tremble, and you paused for a brief moment, trying to collect yourself. “You’re the one who said that we’d never be anything more than smuggling partners. Even after everything that’s happened with us, what we’ve been through with Ellie—you still keep me at arm’s length, now more than ever before.”
“So you finally found somebody else,” he stated, bitterly. “That it? You tryin’ to move on from me?”
“Yes. No.” You let out a small groan, knowing that if there was one thing you could not do, it was lie to Joel. “Yes, okay? I’ve been trying to fucking move on from you.”
Joel’s stomach sank at your admission. “And he’s the guy, huh?”
“Owen is a nice guy. And I really liked spending time with him—” You looked up at him, seeing the hurt flash in his eyes. “I’ve been so fucking lonely, alright?” You continued quickly before he could say anything. “You’ve been avoiding me for months now, Joel. Ever since we came back to Jackson, things have changed. Do you think I haven’t noticed that we only ever talk when we’re sent out on patrol together? That we don’t eat our meals together anymore like we used to? That whenever I even try and approach you, you make up some excuse to leave, even when we’re in our own fucking house?” Hot, frustrated tears blurred your vision. Not wanting to cry, you furiously blinked them back. “Ellie asked me the other day if something was wrong with us. Even she notices the way you’ve been treating me these last few months, Joel. How you avoid me like I’m the fucking plague.”
Joel opened his mouth to speak, but then clamped it shut, not knowing what to say.
“You can’t be upset with me for trying to move on, not when you’re the one who’s been pushing me away—and I don’t just mean here in Jackson. For ten fucking years you’ve been pushing me away, Joel.” Your voice cracked, and a tear finally gave way and slipped down the side of your face.
His expression suddenly softened. “I had to push you away, darlin’.”
You subconsciously stepped closer to him. “But why?”
“Because, what I felt—what I’ve been feelin’ for you, it’s somethin’ that I didn’t think I could feel for someone ever again. It’s so strong and runs so fuckin’ deep that it scares the shit out of me,” Joel confessed, a trembling edge to his tone. “Before Wyoming, it was so fuckin’ easy not to think about it. We were too busy fightin’ to survive, to protect Ellie—now that we’re here and every goddamn day isn’t a fight for survival, things changed, alright? What I feel for you runs through my mind all fuckin’ day. There ain’t no avoidin’ it.”
“Joel—”
He cut you off. “I never meant to hurt you. When we got here, I thought it’d be best to put some distance between us. I thought that maybe if I spent less time with you, what I feel would just go away somehow. But I was wrong. Wrong and stupid to think that what I’ve been feelin’ for ten fuckin’ years would just disappear.”
“What do you feel for me, Joel?” You whispered, looking up at him.
Your eyes widened in a slight surprise as Joel reached up and gently cupped your cheek in the palm of his gloved hand. He put his other hand on your hip and pulled you as close as he possibly could to him. He looked deeply into your eyes as your arms wrapped themselves tightly around his neck. Joel leaned down into you, and the both of you stood absolutely still, each waiting for the other to make the final move.
Finally, it was Joel who closed the remaining distance between you and him.
He softly pressed his lips to yours. Any and all hesitation that he might have had before vanished completely as you parted your lips, allowing him to deepen the kiss.
“That,” he said breathlessly once he’d pulled away, “Is what I feel for you.”
“Never thought I’d see the fucking day,” You murmured against his lips, a tiny, joking smile tugging at the corners of your mouth.
Joel leaned his forehead against yours and sighed, his warm breath tickling your nose. “Look darlin’, m’real sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that. It’s just that seein’ you with that prick, the thought of you with him, or with any other man that ain’t me, I just couldn’t fuckin’ handle it.” He paused briefly, taking a look around. Part of him hoped Owen was still around and watching his every move. “I’m gonna have to find a way to make sure every man in Jackson knows you’re mine.”
“I’m yours,” You assured him, gently. “Believe me. You are the only man that I could ever want. I’m all yours, Joel.”

“what the fuck is wrong with you Dean? I had that!” I seethed.
Once again Dean had got in the way.
“yeah okay, you’re lucky I was there to save your ass…again!” He huffed throwing his bag down.
“hate to break it to you Dean but acting like a dick won’t make yours any bigger.”
I could see his eyes cloud over in rage.
“at least I’m not acting like an ungrateful bitch.” He jabbed.
“a bitch wow really? well then in that case I guess that means you’re not the only dog in the room.” I said rolling my eyes.
“maybe with all that eye rolling you’ll actually find a brain in that pretty little head of yours.” He smirked his words laced with anger.
“awe Dean I think you’re pretty too… pretty damn annoying.”
It was no secret Dean and I butted heads. I was sick of him treating me like a child. It was bad enough he treated Sam that way but now he was constantly looming over me too. I walked in to the study but of course he followed me. He always had to get the last word in any argument.
“how about we just skip right to the makeup sex.” Dean sneered.
“I’d rather set myself on fire.”
“oh please I know you think about me naked.” Dean said.
“why can’t you just drop things Dean?” I asked pulling a book out to research some lore.
I always calmed down faster when my mind was distracted.
“you didn’t deny it.” He smirked.
“please Dean feed your own ego, I’m busy”
“Oh come on just admit it, you want to have sex with me.”
“please, if anyone is having wet dreams it’s you about me.” I huffed flipping a page.
Dean smirked before ripping his shirt off.
“so then this doesn’t bother you at all?” He asked looking at me.
I huffed closing the book. I turned to Dean, he had a shit eating grin on his face that made me want to punch him.
I couldn’t deny though, his toned chest was gorgeous, especially the way it glistened with sweat after our rough hunt. My eyes traveled down to his abs, god they looked good too and… wait what am I saying?
“nope doesn’t bother me at all.” I said maybe a little too quickly.
“really cause it took you a minute.”
I quickly pulled my shirt over my head leaving me in just my bra. Dean looked shocked by my action.
“so this doesn’t bother you at all then?” I smirked.
I watched Dean’s pupils dilate as his eyes raked over my chest. He cleared his throat, forcing his eyes to meet mine again.
“nope doesn’t bother me at all.” He spoke.
“so it wouldn’t bother you if I did this?”
I quickly grabbed the waistband of my pants sliding them down my legs painfully slow. Dean watched me with a lustful stare. I could see his jeans getting tighter around the crotch area. I didn’t know what had gotten in to me. I just wanted Dean to see I wasn’t this helpless child he had to look after.
Dean looked at me before taking his own pants down. We were now both stood in the study in just our under garments. There was a pause of silence as our eyes devoured each others body.
Dean crossed the room in two quick strides, crashing his lips to mine. I immediately kissed him back my hands going to his toned chest starting to explore. His hands made their way to my ass, picking me up and forcing me to wrap my legs around him.
He backed us up so my back was pressed up against the bookshelf. His lips left mine and traveled to my neck and down my collarbone. I could feel him throbbing against my leg. In one swift action Dean unclasped my bra letting it fall to the floor.
“Fuck.” He whispered mouth traveling further down to my uncovered breasts.
I let out a moan as Dean took one of my nipples in his mouth, sucking gently. My hands ran across his broad shoulders and down his muscular arms.
“you want this?” Dean growled, his hands squeezing my ass.
Of course I thought about having sex with Dean. He was undeniably gorgeous, even after a hunt.
“Please Dean.”
His hands left my ass, pulling his boxers down. I gasped as his full length sprung out. I had seen Dean in his boxers once before but now he looked much bigger. Without warning he pulled my panties to the side slamming himself in to me. I choked back a loud moan as I stretched around him.
He started to thrust, pressing my back harder against the bookshelf. He brought his lips back to mine taking my bottom lip between his teeth. I whimpered as he bit down lightly, his thrusts getting more rough as he went.
“Fuck Dean.” I moaned.
I gripped the bookshelf trying to steady myself.
Dean growls thrusting harder. It was rough but tender at the same time.
“maybe next time you’ll listen to me.” He groans, thrusts becoming sloppy.
“not likely.” I pant.
Dean groaned as his legs started to shake. He was close, as was I.
“Dean I’m gonna.” I started but he cut me off.
“Fuck, let go for me sweetheart.” He groaned.
I came undone, his words mixed with the pleasure being too much to bare. As I clenched around him, it brought his release too. I could feel the bruising already forming as my back was slammed against the bookshelf repeatedly. Once we rode out our high, Dean gently placed me on my feet again.
I took me a second to get my footing, my legs feeling stiff.
“you’re fucking stubborn, you know that? He growled, cleaning himself off.
“and you’re an overprotective asshole so it kind of evens out.” I smirked.
I quickly grabbed my clothes throwing my shirt back on and pulling on my pants.
“I’m going to clean up .” I said walking out of the room.
“wait..” Dean said making me pause.
“this..” he pointed between me and him “we shouldn’t tell Sam.”
“there’s nothing to tell Dean, we fucked, that’s it.” I said walking out of the study.
Dean
I watched her walk away, quickly throwing on my clothes. I’ve had sex with a lot of women, but something about it this time felt different. I shook it off, hearing the door opening signifying Sam had made his way back to the bunker.
“why do you look all sweaty?” He asked giving me an awkward look.
“I uh was, I mean it was uh a rough hunt.”
What the fuck? Why was I fumbling over my words? I never do that?
“wow what happened to the bookshelf? Sam asked pushing past me.
The books from where I had her pushed up against the shelf were in complete disarray, falling out on to the floor.
“I was looking for something.” Her voice spoke up from the doorway.
“I’ll fix them.” She added walking over and picking a book off the floor.
“I’ll help.” I offered leaning down next to her.
I studied her face as she focused on putting some loose leaf pages back in a book.
Did she always have light freckles over her nose? Were her eyes always that color?
“Why are you staring at me?” She whisper yelled so Sam couldn’t hear.
I cleared my throat tearing my eyes away from her.
“I’m not.” I defended even though I totally was.
I picked up another book putting it in its place. I gulped as I stared at the bookshelf.
The sounds of her heavenly moans filled my head. I could still see her naked body pressed up against it. I could feel myself getting harder just thinking about it. I quickly walked out of the study not wanting to get caught by Sam.
What the hell was wrong with me?
“Dean where are you going, I have more information about a case?” Sam asked annoyed.
“Uh I’m starving I’m getting us some dinner and then I’ll be back.” I said hurrying away from her.
I stopped by my room, trying to control my breathing. I ran in to my bathroom, splashing some cold water on my face.
“get it together Dean.” I said to my image in the mirror.
Normally when I had sex with a girl, it was forgotten after I came. Why couldn’t I stop thinking about it now? I decided I needed to go for a drive, get some food and then maybe I’d be able to face her again.
Reader
“what’s his problem?” Sam asked as we watched Dean hurry out of the room.
I bit my lip shrugging my shoulders.
“did something happen on the hunt?” He asked scratching his head.
something definitely happened, but it wasn’t on the hunt.
“nope, hunt went perfect.” I lied as I finished arranging the books back to their original positions.
“I’m confused Dean said it was rough?”
Fuck.
“oh yeah, just a little, but nothing we couldn’t handle.”
It was amazing how easily I could lie to Sam.
“well are you okay?” Sam asked placing a hand on my back.
I flinched at the contact, my back sore from being slammed against the bookshelf by Dean. I bit my lip as the memory replayed in my head. I never realized how strong Dean truly was.
“I’m great.” I said giving him a thumbs up.
He looked like he didn’t believe me but thankfully he didn’t push any farther. I sat in the study looking over a book. My eyes were reading the words but my mind was too preoccupied.
Why did Dean leave so quickly? Why did I care?
It was around an hour later before Dean came strolling back in, food for all of us in his hand. He swallowed hard as he came closer to me handing me some food. He turned away from me quickly, taking the farthest seat away from me.
Sam started to tell us the information but I wasn’t really listening. My eyes traveled to Dean. His hands gripped the arms of the chair he sat on.
God have his hands always looked that nice? I imagined them wrapping around my throat making me bite back a moan.
Why am I thinking of Dean in this way?
I felt my cheeks flush as I tried to focus on what Sam was saying. I glanced at Dean as he spoke, I noticed the way his adams apple bobbed up and down with his deep voice. I could feel the heat pool between my legs. I needed to get away from Dean, I needed a drink.
“Is that all?” I asked, noticing both men had stopped talking.
“uh yeah I’m finished if that’s what you mean.” Sam said slightly offended by my outburst.
“Sorry Sammy rough day, I’m going to the bar for a drink.” I said standing up.
“I’ll go with you.” Dean spoke.
“NO” I spoke too quickly.
“I mean uh maybe I’m trying to meet someone.” I said mentally facepalming.
Why did I say that?
I could see Dean’s eyebrows lower as he stared me down. I quickly walked out of the room, throwing on my leather jacket. I couldn’t control my thoughts around Dean, I had to get away from him. I walked to the local bar having a seat and ordering a straight shot.
Why was Dean suddenly controlling my thoughts?
“excuse me, this seat taken?”
I turned around to see a handsome stranger staring down at me. He wasn’t Dean but, maybe a distraction would be nice.
“it is now.” I said pulling it out for him.
Dean
“I mean uh, maybe I’m trying to meet someone.” she spoke.
Meet someone?
I couldn’t help but feel the anger boiling up to the surface. It wasn’t even twenty four hours ago that she was wrapped around me and now she wants to meet someone?
Wait why did I even care if she met someone else. She said it herself, we fucked and that’s it.
“okay what the hell is up with you two?” Sam asked as she left the room.
“nothing, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I grumbled.
“you’re both being extra weird today, leaving in a haste, she’s flinching when I put my hand on her back..” he says but I cut him off.
“she flinched?” I asked in concern.
I knew I went rough, but I didn’t think I’d actually hurt her.
“did something happen to her?” Sam asked.
oh something definitely happened to her.
“nah, she’s tough.” I said standing up.
I don’t know why, but I needed to get to the bar. If she really was meeting someone, I had to make sure they weren’t some type of creature who was going to hurt her.
“come on Sammy, let’s go.” I said grabbing my jacket.
“where are we going?”
“to the bar.” I simply said.
“but she didn’t want you there.” He spoke crossing his arms across his chest and looking at me suspiciously.
“we’re going for you, you need to get laid, you’re way too uptight.” I said slapping a hand on his shoulder.
He shrugged following me to baby. It was a quick drive to the bar. Once inside my eyes scanned the room for her. She sat at the far end of the bar, a man sitting beside her. I glared at him as she laughed at whatever bullshit joke he was telling. I could feel my blood boil as he placed a hand on her knee traveling up to her thigh.
“yeah we’re definitely here for me.” Sam joked.
I flicked my eyes to his but instead he was looking down at my hands. I didn’t notice but they were clenched into fists as I watched her flirt with him.
What am I feeling?
“it’s called jealousy.” Sam spoke beside me.
How did he read my mind?
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I scowled ordering a beer.
I tried my best but I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her at the end of the bar. I noticed she removed his hand from her leg instead holding it with her own. He leaned down whispering something in to her ear making her laugh again.
“what do you think he’s saying?” I asked looking over to where I thought Sam sat.
Sam was instead sat a few feet away from me, a cute brunette all over him.
“I’ll be damned Sammy.” I laughed watching her kiss over his neck.
I looked down at my beer chugging the rest of it down. I felt a hand slide across my shoulders, I flinched looking up to see a blonde in barely any clothing.
“what’s a handsome guy like you doing all by himself?” she asked, her fingers grazing my neck.
I pulled away gently.
“I guess I was waiting for someone like you.” I flirted.
This was the type of girl I usually picked up at the bar. She was more than willing to throw herself at me. She put her hands around my shoulders, wasting no time in kissing my jaw line.
I glanced back over to the end of the bar but I didn’t see her anymore. My eyes furiously looked around the room, finally catching a glimpse of (y/n) leading him out of the door by his hand. I quickly stood up causing the blonde to fall on the floor.
“what the hell is your problem.” she whined fixing her skirt.
“sorry I gotta go.” I said rushing out the door.
I didn’t want her to go home with him. She couldn’t.
I ran outside whipping my head around to see where she went. My heart sunk as she was nowhere in sight.
Fuck I was too late. She was gone.
“Fuck.” I growled running a hand through my hair.
“are you looking for me?”
Reader
I laughed at another joke he told. It wasn’t actually that funny but I didn’t want to bruise his ego. Too quickly his hand was placed on my knee traveling up to my thigh. I glanced up, my eyes catching sight of Sam first due to his height. Dean stood right beside him glaring in my direction.
you’ve got to be kidding me.
“did you hear me?”
James asked, or was his name Jake, I couldn’t remember now.
“sorry no I missed that.” I admitted.
James/Jake started to tell his story again but my eyes were on Dean who now took a seat at the bar. James/Jake’s hand was still rubbing my thigh making me slightly uncomfortable now. I grabbed it off, holding it in my own hand.
“so yeah I’m kind of a big deal now.” He whispered in my ear.
I laughed at him again. I didn’t know if it was an appropriate reaction to what he said but it usually worked for these types of situations. I glanced up at the other side of the bar, seeing a brunette ferociously attacking Sam’s neck with her lips. I laughed to myself. I noticed a blonde with minimal clothing making her way over to Dean. I felt the jealousy creeping up as she ran a hand across his shoulders.
“you’re not in to this are you?”
I flicked my eyes back to James/Jake. He was staring at me with a slight smile.
“i’m sorry Jake.” I said guessing on his name.
“it’s uh James.” He laughed.
“fuck right, sorry again.” I muttered.
“it’s that guy isn’t it?” James asked nodding his head towards Dean.
I didn’t know what it was about Dean though. It’s as if I was starting to see him in a whole new light.
“something about him yeah.” I replied biting my lip.
“I should go then, and you should talk to him.” James said offering me a smile.
I glanced back over seeing Dean giving his attention to the blonde girl all over him.
“I’ll walk you out.” I offered.
James smiled gratefully and walked with me out of the bar.
“uh I’m really sorry again.” I said dropping his hand finally.
“it’s okay, really. I hope you can sort out whatever it is.” he said offering me a small wave before getting in his car and driving off.
I sighed moving to lean against the side of the building. I sighed running a hand through my hair.
Why was I feeling this way?
Suddenly the door flew open, Dean came running out. He was furiously looking around, his eyes widening as he looked around the parking lot.
Was he looking for me?
“Fuck.” He growled running a hand through his hair.
“are you looking for me?” I hesitantly asked coming off the wall.
relief flooded Dean’s features as he spotted me.
“you didn’t go home with him?” he asked unsure if he was actually seeing me now.
“he’s not really my type, plus I don’t have sex twice with two different people in the same day.” I joked taking a step towards Dean.
“oh yeah, what about twice with the same person? Dean asked.
I could feel my cheeks heat up as he stood in front of me, cupping my cheek with his hand. He looked down at my lips before meeting my eyes again.
“It depends on the person.” I smirked.
“Me?”
“I think I could make an exception for you.”
At my consent Dean attached his lips to mine. I didn’t realize just how much I missed this sensation. Dean picked me up bridal style not breaking the kiss. He walked over to his car, depositing me in the back seat before climbing on top of me.
I reconnected our lips, tugging at his shirt. He pulled it over his head, dipping down to kiss my neck.
“Dean, wait.” I said pushing him off.
I could see the hurt flash in his eyes.
“I don’t know if I can do this.” I said biting my lip.
He gave me a confused look.
“I don’t know if I can have sex with you and still maintain a friendship afterwards.” I explained biting my lip.
“fuck a friendship.” Dean said.
It was my turn to give him a confused glance.
“I don’t want a friendship, I want so much more than that, I want to be the one you laugh at, I want to be the only guy who gets to touch you. I want so much more.” He confesses.
I felt my heart burst at his words. As a hunter, love and relationships weren’t a luxury we were afforded.
“if I’m being honest, it scares me to death and I tried to stop it, I tried my best, but I can’t stop thinking about you.” Dean added looking in my eyes.
He was saying everything I was thinking.
“fuck a friendship.” I said pulling him down for a kiss.
love and relationships were a luxury, but so was Dean, and this was one luxury I’d let myself afford.

“Where are you going bitch?” Luke scowled from the sofa. He had another beer in his hand now after I’d kicked the other one all over the floor trying to get away from him.
“Somewhere your not” I sniffed through the pain my body was going through. “And where are you going to go” he laughed out loud throwing his head bad. “No one wants you, you don’t matter to anyone” my dad spat at me before taking another slip. He slapped his lips together and put the glass on the table, getting up.
“She’s had enough!” JJ stormed out of his room to stand in front of me. “J don’t” I winced but he put his arm out to block me. “I decide when she’s had enough” luke chuckled getting closer to us. He violently grabbed JJ by the neck and threw him on the floor.
I tried to get out of the door but Luke gripped my ponytail pulling it backwards hard. I grunted as he slammed me into the wall. A second after he landed a gnarly punch to my stomach.
Repeating his actions from an half an hour ago. “You do it to yourself you know that, by just talking you do it to yourself” he screwed up his face before his fist drove back again. Using my knee I pushed him backwards before kicking him in between the legs.
He cried out in pain and I ran for the door. “You’ll get what’s coming for you one day” I slammed the door in his face and bolted from the house. Of course it was raining. In fact it was pouring down. I did hear something about a storm on the news earlier.
As much as I hated to admit it luke was technically right. I had no place to go, no safe haven. But running through the rain, crying my eyes out and being in so much fucking pain led me to one idea. It was a long shot but it was the only idea I had. And off to figure eight I went.
-<3-
I knocked on Rafe’s window after climbing up biting back the screams from the intense pain all across my body. He was laying on his bed when he rolled his head over to sus out the noise. When he saw me sitting on the seal he grinned and bounced up tossing his phone on the bed.
“Well Well Well, look who it is showing up at my window” he swung his arms smugly walking towards the window to open it for me. He lifted the glass up and I climbed in.
“Hi” I breathed awkwardly looking at him, as I did his face dropped. “What the fuck happened?” He strode forward like we were magnets and held my face in his hands. Softly his thumb ran over a bruise that was forming on my cheek. He turned my face to the other side seeing another on my jawline. “You never seen a bruise before?” I smirked leaning forward into a kiss.
Rafe softly planted a quick kiss on my lips before pulling away from my face shaking his head.
“Just help me forget it rafe” I stepped closer to him again. “Not this time y/n- sit down” Rafe ordered pointing to his bed letting go of me.
He wondered off into his on-sweet while I didn’t know what to do with myself. “You going to tell me what happened?” He asked when coming back out. “I fell” my Shoulders shrugged awkwardly.
“Well your clearly lying, will you sit down please?” He asked again with a small medial kit under his arm. “Rafe this is not necessary, it don’t matter! I don’t matter!” I raised my voice slightly feeling my eyes prick with tears again.
“Y/n” he whispered shaking his head coming over to hug me as my chin wobbled. As soon as he did I broke down crying into his shirt balling it up in my fist just to keep him close. Rafe guided me to the bed where he sat and pulled me onto his lap. “You matter to me” he whispered squeezing me gently.
“Ive seen bruises on your body before- i think I was scared to ask in all honesty, but never on your face y/n never this bad”. I pulled away from his chest to look up at him wiping my face. “This isn’t your shit to deal with Rafe” I shook my head vigorously.
“Does it really look like I mind?” Rafe interrogated raising his eyebrow up. “Why is it so hard to believe I just want to help you” “I’ve told you how to help” I whispered moving my hand up to his face. “Don’t be stupid your clearly hurt, you need to rest” Rafe took my hand off his face holding it.
“And you need to change out of these wet clothes I can’t believe your dad let you out there in a storm”. My face dropped when Rafe mentioned my dads name and he picked up on it.
“I’m going to get you some of Sarah’s clothes from the utility room- your welcome to use the shower there’s towels in there” Rafe kissed my hand before getting up and leaving the room. It was tempting, rafes shower was the best feeling in the world. “Fuck it” I shrugged and headed to the kooks shower.
I was only in there for ten or fifteen minutes before coming back into rafes room with a green towel wrapped around me. My hair was brushed out now too so I looked less of a mess. “Hey” I smiled weakly, Rafe watched the bruising on my chest and on my thighs as I walked round to him.
He didn’t say anything just got up and put his arm out to hold my face. I flinched. I don’t know why I didn’t mean to I know Rafe wouldn’t ever hurt me. “I’m sorry I…” “…Is it luke?” He whispered pulling back and cutting me off, looking into my eyes. Now I didn’t say anything, just stared up at him.
“I’m going to get changed now” I shut down the conversation and reached over picking up the pile of clothes rafe laid out for me, walking back into the bathroom. My heart pounded against my chest. Rafe had gotten me some grey jogging bottoms, a white crop top and a matching grey jumper for over the top which I didn’t put on because I was boiling, unfortunately that left on show the worst bruise that Luke landed on me before I left.
When I came back into rafes room he was laying in bed with the TV on. He patted the other side not looking at me.
Hesitantly, I walked over and climbed in under the warm covers next to him. The boy scooped me up landing my head on his chest while his arms were wrapped tightly around me.
“He’s a piece of shit” rafe whispered to me after a second, almost like he couldn’t hold it back. “I know” I replied with a minimal response. “And so Is JJ for letting that happen” “don’t say that” I snapped shaking my head. “JJ gets it worse because he’s always protecting me”, Rafe hummed watching the tv but not listening to it. He was thinking.
“You can’t go back there y/n” he exhaled sounding worried. “I have to go back rafe there’s no where else for me to go”
“You can crash here” rafe suggested clinging onto me tighter. “He’s my dad Rafe, i cant avoid him forever and I can’t stay here forever” I rubbed his hand with my thumb. “But it’s cute you care” I smiled to myself. “of course I care” he replied quickly, “you just need to know that your welcome here when ever you need- AND that you do matter y/n, you do”.
“thank you Rafe” I whispered looking up at him. His face was so close to mine. All I had to do was close the two centimetre gap between our lips. It was tempting, have you seen that man? Of course it was tempting.
He looked down at me with his piercing blue eyes and smirked after a few seconds. “Get it out your head it’s not happening yet, your still hurt” “yet is the key word there Cameron” I grinned shrugging. Rafe chuckled hugging me tighter.
I found my safe haven. It wasn’t a place after all, it was a person. It was Rafe Cameron.

All This Time - Hangman x WSO!reader
summary: the one (and only) time you fly with Hangman, your plane goes down and you’re forced to rely on each other for a lot more than moral support.
WC: 4.2k
a/n: forced proximity, forced proximity, forced proximity.
warnings: slight mention of blood, swearing
Tumblr media
If there was one thing said about you around North Island, it was that you rarely held animosity for others. You were a nice person. Sure, people managed to piss you off occasionally and you may have a quick temper but, holding grudges? It wasn’t really your style. That being said, you’re convinced it’ll take years if not centuries to forgive Lieutenant Jake Seresin for this.
You’ve lost feeling in your toes, there’s warm blood trickling down from your nose, and your one ride out of enemy territory is a fiery ball of scrap miles away but, all you can think about in that moment is how good it was going to feel to finally punch this guy.
He deserves it, really. If he had just listened to your instruction, broke right instead of left, remained above 1000 feet, simply did anything you told him to do ... you’d both be back on the USS Voyager by now. But, you’re not. You’re on the side of a snowy mountain with popsicle feet and a bone to pick with Hangman.
With your fists clenched tightly at your sides, you get close enough to make out his face and falter slightly. He looks concerned? Helmet long discarded, his forehead is wrinkled and his shoulders are hunched in. This is the first time you’d ever seen Hangman look so ... small. He would always carry himself with so much confidence, so much swagger, to make it seem like not even the biggest guy in the Navy could take him down.
But now, it’s like one strong gust of wind could come by and he’d topple over. And that in itself jars you enough to freeze you in your warpath and just stare. He must have caught sight of your movements or heard your crunchy footsteps because his head whips in your direction and his whole demeanor changes. He lets his head fall back and tilts his face up, muttering something to the sky before locking his gaze back on you.
Then he’s moving, quickly, with a determination you’ve seen from him so many times before. He’s getting closer, you open and close your fist a few times, mentally hyping yourself to take the swing. But before you can get the nerve, his arms are encasing you against him, so tightly it almost knocks the wind out of you and you have to let out an involuntary ‘oof’.
What the hell is happening? Yeah, you’d crash landed in enemy territory, but the world was not ending. Your beacons would signal the ship your whereabouts and Search and Rescue would come (hopefully with warm ass blankets and a stiff drink) to grab you. The world was not ending.
So, why was Jake Seresin holding you like any second the ground beneath you would give way?
And why are you enjoying it?
He’s warm and solid and there. And for a split second, you succumb to the comfort of those facts. Just as quickly, your mind reverts back to the other facts. Hangman disobeyed orders and ignored your guidance; this is his fault.
So you push against his chest, hard. You break away from him with a huff and throw your hands up.
“Are you insane?” You bark at him, trying to catch his eyes as they roam over your figure.
“Are you hurt?”
“I told you to fly away from the peaks and brace right! You did the exact opposite-“
“Are you hurt?” His tone is much firmer now, cutting you off and shutting you up instantly. He’s taken a step closer too and his eyes can’t seem to pick a place to rest, still scanning, scanning, scanning.
“No! I’d say I’m fine, but I’m stuck on a mountain with you!” You can see the insult doesn’t even stick because his face goes slack again with a look of relief. “Explain yourself, Bagman. Because you said you’d be able to handle flying a two-seater. You said you could handle having a WSO in your back seat, yet ...” You break off, flailing your arms around to emphasize your predicament, you know, in case he forgot.
“Okay, I get that you’re upset-“ you roll your eyes, “but, as the pilot, I saw the open opportunities in front of us. I had a window and if it wasn’t for that SAM Rooster missed with his flares-“
“That I told you how to avoid!”
“then we would have been fine.” He’s grinning and the urge to punch him is back and stronger than ever. It was risky, to allow Hangman to step into the box as a replacement for your usual front seater who had been sick for weeks. But, leadership was insistent that you, a heavily trained and highly accomplished WSO, needed to be on this mission.
And Lieutenant Seresin rarely backed down from a challenge.
You two had never gotten along, not really. There wasn’t an open hatred, or too many overly heated exchanges in your past. It came down to some small comments made here and there, some sharp insinuations that you weren’t as good or as valuable to the squadron. Or at least, that’s how you took it.
Your history and lack luster personal connection with Hangman was all you needed to know to be sure that you two would not make a good team. One test flight, one mission simulation, and you’d both be grounded from the assignment. For the first time since you’d known him, Seresin proved you wrong. You ended up making good numbers during the sims, hitting the target more times than not and with a lower risk mission, that was all the Navy needed to green light the change and to seal your fate to his.
And fate had brought you here.
You wipe the blood from under your nose and avert your eyes from his figure before actually getting violent to survey your surroundings. There was nothing but snow and trees and your broken down parachutes. A ways away, you can see smoke rising, the sad result of the crash but a beacon of hope for potential radio communication.
“Well, Seresin, because you ever so gracefully did not avoid the SAM, we need to hike to the crash site and see if any part of the jet is recoverable.” You gather up the line and disconnect his parachute before starting up toward the jet.
“If we hike at a brisk pace to keep warm and conserve our energy by not talking, we’ll make it there in no time!” You say loudly over your shoulder, not waiting for your partner to catch up.
You don’t even have to see his face to know there’s a grin on it, it’s dripping in his tone when he replies, “Yes ma’am.”
——
The jet is utterly destroyed, though you can’t say you’re surprised. The radio is far too gone for any chance at sending out a message so, you have to assume the beacons on your suits will provide enough of an exact location for a helicopter drop.
The dwindling twilight from the sun setting is outlining the peaks of the mountains surrounding you, casting your figures and the tundra in an indigo glow. Complete darkness is enviable and with darkness comes the cold.
You and Hangman had been trained on this throughout your careers, basic survival strategies. Both of you agreed that even though Search and Rescue would come, they would take a bit and freezing temperatures plus wet clothing can be a lethal combo, even for a short period of time. So, you scoured the land and the trees before collecting and creating the most pathetic fire a couple of US Naval Lieutenants could manage.
But a fire was a fire and you almost bent over to lay one right on Jake when he finally got the flame to catch. The sudden desire to kiss Hangman was almost as unsettling as the whole concept of being stranded in enemy territory. Almost more unsettling was the fact that you couldn’t say it was the first time the desire had come over you ... that didn’t make it any less unsettling every time it occurred though.
Just like all the other times, you averted any and all eye contact with him and shoved the thought away deeply in the back of your brain. Just like it never happened.
Sitting across from him now, both huddling dangerously close to the open flame, it’s almost impossible to not look at him. You manage to avoid it until he opens his mouth, of course.
“Is your nose okay?”
“What?”
“Your, uh, nose?” He shifts, raising his hand to wipe under his own nose. “It was bleeding earlier.”
“Oh.” You self-consciously raise your hand to your nose and feel nothing fresh. Then you blanch because you’d forgotten about that situation. You’d forgotten about pretty much everything other than your anger at him and getting out of there asap. It wasn’t uncommon for your nose to bleed when you change altitudes rapidly. Pretty shitty circumstance for a fighter pilot but, you’ve always managed. You go to tell him it didn’t even hurt but, then you blanch again because you didn’t even ask him if he was hurt.
He had to eject from a rapidly descending jet just like you, probably took an equally rough landing from the parachute, and you didn’t even check if he was okay?
Some partner you are.
Guilt floods your system, almost as shocking and uncomfortable as ice beneath you. He had messed up, yes, but that didn’t make him less of a teammate, less of a person. And suddenly you remember why you don’t hold grudges. Everyone made mistakes. In the end, you’d both be okay.
That’s if he doesn’t have a life-threatening injury that you brushed over.
“It stopped bleeding. I get them occasionally while flying, no biggie.” You clear your throat. “Are you hurt at all? I should have checked before, I’m really sorry. I was slightly blindsided by our situation and well, some rage ... but I’m over that now and I realize I should have asked you that question way earlier but-“
“Y/N.” Jake cuts you off, stopping your rambling short because he used your name. Not your call sign. Not Lieutenant Y/L/N. Y/N. It’s rare to be called by your first name around the base, around all of North Island really but, it’s nice to hear it once and awhile. Nice takes on a whole new meaning when Jake uses it. It’s like a shot of espresso, waking you up and sending a jolt of awareness that spreads to every inch of you.
You like the way it sounds rolling off his tongue.
There’s another thought to tuck so, so deeply away.
“I’m okay,” he continues “no harm done.” Your gazes settle on each other and there’s a lull in the conversation spent simply looking at one another. You shamelessly let yourself drink in his features while you can only hope assume he’s doing the same. He has skin so smooth and tan, you wonder what it’d taste like. The lines that stretch across his face when he smiles are so prominent you wonder what it would be like to feel them under your fingertips. His hair, sun streaked and a little tussled from his helmet looks inviting, like he’s begging you to pull your hands through it and fix it.
The thoughts are as intrusive as they are all-consuming. You know there’s no place deep enough, no corner of your brain dark enough to hide them away.
“Can’t say the same for the F-18 and my pride though.” His grin grows and you’re forced to refocus.
“I think you could use the ego check.” You try to grin back.
“Just a reminder that it takes two to tango, m’dear. As a WSO, I thought it was your job to defend incoming threats.”
And he’s back.
“Believe me, I tried my best. But you were pretty insistent on flying however you deemed fit. My input meant little to nothing.”
“It was a little hard to focus with your constant corrections. Do this, not that. Maneuver left, your other left-”
“That’s my job!”
“If you had just trusted me-“
“I trusted you with my life!” The volume of your voice startles both of you into silence. You don’t mean to raise it but, it was always the same game with Hangman. A push and a pull until something snaps. You exhale a small, sharp breath and force yourself to look at him.
He’s watching you closely, a glassy look in his eyes illuminated by the orange lick of the fleeting flames that separate you.
“The minute I got into your backseat, I trusted you. Flying a two-seater, it means being a part of a team. And you’re right, at the core of any team is trust. I gave you that, completely, but you didn’t do the same.”
Jake opens and closes his mouth a few times and you wait on batted breath for what he might say. You know you’ve stumped him, thrown his words right back in his face and he had nothing left but to admit that you were right. At that point you didn’t care about being right. All you cared about was going home and never stepping foot outside the warm San Diego climate again.
“Why’d you even take this mission? It was out of your comfort zone. You probably could have even flown a solo dagger if you really wanted in.” You take your eyes off him and focus them on the fire, picking at it slowly to try to keep it alive. You know what he’s going to say, you weren’t even sure why you asked. You’re sure he’ll say, ‘I wanted to push my comfort zone, prove I’m the best, most versatile pilot they’ve got.’
What you do not expect him to say is, “I wanted to be close to you.”
The words have your snapping your head up to look at him directly only to find his eyes still glued to you. His stare is unnervingly strong, you feel yourself start to crack under the weight of it mixed with his words.
“...what?”
He scoffs, a sarcastic, annoying, how-do-you-not-already-know scoff.
“Ever since I’ve met you, I wanted to get to know you.” You furrow your brows, open your mouth to respond then just as quickly close it because ...what? All he’s ever done is bicker with you, poke fun at your quirks and taunt your skills. You may have not hung around him long enough to give him a chance to do anything else but, why would you?
Maybe because you secretly longed to be in his presence. A sensible person would take his seemingly negative attitude regarding you and stay far away. Instead, you found yourself drifting back toward him only to be pushed away time and time again. Clearly you lacked sensibility when it came to Hangman. As much as you wanted to blame the pull you felt to him on his undeniable attractiveness, you knew it had more to do with your desire to impress him, to prove him wrong. He was a painful cavity yet, you constantly caught yourself wrist deep in the candy jar, craving the sweetness of his validation.
At your prolonged silence, he continues, “All you ever do is give me one word answers or roll your eyes at my presence. I get it, you hate me and I’m pathetic for hoping that if you ever gave me a chance, you’d change your mind about me. So yes, I volunteered for this god awful mission just so I could spend some time with you in the box.”
No way. “You belittle me at every chance you get.”
“I admire you. I push you because I want you to grow, to be better and because you always push me back.”
“This is not elementary school where you pull a girl’s pigtails because you think they’re pretty. We’re adults, you could have just told me!”
“Would you have listened?”
The answer ‘yes’ dances on the tip of your tongue but your mouth remains clamped shut.
“Like I said, I was taking any chances I could get.”
It’s all too much at once, you start to rethink every conversation you two ever shared, relive every look, pry open every feeling - was it always hate or something else? It never truly felt like hate, but it was an unknown feeling that bloomed beneath your breastbone, an uncomfortable one.
“Search and Rescue will be here in any minute. We should conserve our energy, try to find a way to stay warm.” At this point you’re shivering (and pathetically trying to divert the conversation), wrapping your arms so tightly around yourself to persevere your own body heat before anymore can seep out.
Jake’s lips look blue and you’re sure yours look similar because they prickle when you release a deep sigh or run your tongue across them. He’s shivering too and your fingers twitch involuntarily, desperate to reach out to him. Not because you want to feel his body pressed against yours, thank you very much. It’s simply a survival instinct, in weather like this, to huddle for warmth.
“You okay?” You must have been staring at him, cause he’s looking at you with slight concern.
“Just cold.” You nod weakly, the condensation from your warm breath against the stark temperature around you displays itself in a puff of grey before you.
“Come here.” His voice is thick as honey and coated in so much tenderness it sends a quiver down your spine.
You’re still staring at him, hesitating even though the offer is so tempting. Just the mere thought of becoming a couple degrees warmer in that moment has you aching for the contact.
Wordlessly, you shuffle your way over and plop down beside him. Your bodies connect, from your shoulders to your toes, and instantly you feel the heat emanating from him persuade you to lean closer. You feel a hand dip in-between your clasped ones and let it pull them apart because it’s warmer than both your hands combined. You keep your eyes glued in front of you, worried if you turned to face him, he’d see an additional heat creep across your cheeks. Not a heat from sitting too close to the fire or potential frostbite. No, this heat was a pure, instinctual reaction to having your skin grazing against his.
God, how is he so warm?
“God, you’re freezing.” He murmurs before the hand pulls away. His body disappears from beside you and immediately, you miss the force of him against you and the relief it provided. You watch questioningly as he rises and moves behind you before dropping down into the snow. Before you can look over your shoulder, his legs are spread out on either side of yours and his hands wrap tightly around your shoulders.
He guides you back, pulling you flush against his chest. It takes all of your willpower not to moan at the connection of your back against his front and the immediate rush of heat that the new position provides. He shifts closer, if that’s even possible, trailing his hands down your arms before wrapping them securely across your chest and around you.
“Is this okay?” His hot breath cascades over your ear and down your neck, leaving a ripple of goosebumps in its wake.
“Yes.” You breath back, raising your hands to wrap around his arms. You let your head fall back, cheek nuzzling into his, desperate to get closer. You’ve never felt such a desperate urge to be close to someone. It’s like no matter how close you do get, it’s not enough. You want to burrow yourself into his skin and into this feeling. You don’t know why you’re doing it, if it’s again, your survival instincts, or something more but it’s like you’re drunk off of his heat, intoxicated by the molten feel of his body on yours.
He’s quiet, tentative, like he’s worried one wrong move or word and reality will seep back into your peripheral.
“I admire you too.” You whisper, this comfort coaxing the words out. “You’re stubborn, annoyingly confident ... but you’re so brave. Nothing seems to faze you.”
“Not nothing.” His grip seems to unconsciously tighten around you.
“You’re intimidating, almost unapproachable, even when I thought I wanted to, it seemed like you didn’t want me around. Just a WSO ...” His words from one of your first interactions bounced around in your head constantly. You feel him lean his head heavier against yours in response.
He huffs out a laugh, “Believe me, I wanted it.” He shook his head. “And I never should have said that. What you do is important, so important that they’d send you out with me just to ensure that you’d be out there.”
“You’re not so bad.” You snicker and squeeze his arms lightly.
“I’m sorry if I ever hurt you.” His voice grows quieter, heavy with sincerity.
“It’s okay.” You shake your head thinking about it. “In the end you did,” You shift in his arms, turning to look up at him. Your faces are so close it takes almost all of your inner strength to finish your sentence “make me better.”
His stare is dizzying, it simmers on your skin almost as much as his body heat itself. It’s dark and it’s deep and you never want him to stop looking at you that way.
“Maybe next time, if you want me to know that you like me, just tell me.”
A smirk breaks out across his lips and it’s so him that it makes you want to simultaneously punch him and smash your lips against his.
He nods ever so slightly before replying, “I like you. I like your drive and your refusal to take shit from anyone, including me.” You bite your lip to hold back the wide grin threatening to burst out as his hand rises to cup your cheek. “I like how you’re effortlessly beautiful and take my breath away. I like you so much that I’m afraid I’ll burst if you don’t say you like me too.”
For a second, you’re worried you may have actually caught on fire because your insides feel liquified. There’d be a puddle of your former self in the snow if it weren’t for Jakes arms keeping you together, upright.
“But, I’d understand if you didn’t, I was a dick to you and I’m so-“
Without giving it much thought, because fuck that, you tilt your head up and connect your lips to Jakes with enough force to both shut him up and to convey a clear message - you like him too.
He reacts immediately, kissing back with an equal amount of force. His lips tenderly yet hungrily engulf yours as his other hand digs its way into your tight military bun to cradle the back of your head. A strangled noise escapes from your throat when he swipes his tongue along your bottom lip, prying to dive deeper inside of you.
You oblige, allowing him to swirl your tongues together while he greedily swallows any whimpers his hands illicit from you. He’s pulling, pushing, skimming, squeezing every square inch of your body that he can reach. From your jaw to your neck, down your hips, to the tops of your thighs while you sit in between his. He can’t settle, seemingly wanting to take all of you in.
“You have no idea,” he grumbles as he pulls his lips from yours, quickly reattaching them to the sensitive skin under your ear, “how long I’ve thought about this.” He sucks and nips his way down and across your throat, causing you to dig your nails deep enough into him to leave half-moon marks through his suit. “This skin,” he drags his bottom lip up until it reaches the corner of your mouth before pulling away just enough to peer down at you through hooded eyes.
“That smile.” He rubs a thumb over your mouth, eliciting a grin from you which he promptly returns with one of his own, “that’s the one.”
“All this time? You did a shit job of showing it.” You let your own fingers dance across his face, selfishly giving into your own longing. “If you really wanted to see me smile, you could have let me win at pool or not always ate the last of my favorite fruit in the cafeteria, or I don’t know ... said good job.” You snicker as he rolls his eyes playfully and buries his face in the crook of your neck.
“Fine, so the hard-to-get, bad boy persona didn’t work the way I hoped it would.” Except, it totally did. He pulls back and gives you a natural smile, his eyes twinkling. “When we get back, I’ll hand feed you those strawberries,” he pauses to kiss your cheek, “the next game at the Hard Deck is yours,” another kiss, “and you’ll receive endless praise from me. Okay, sweet girl?”
He never intended to hear your reply, not giving you time to before capturing your lips in a searing kiss. Screw the fire for warmth, screw your clothes for warmth, you suddenly had a very good idea of a new activity that would keep you both plenty warm. If it weren’t for the blinding white light of the helicopter prying you apart, you were certain your F-18 wouldn’t be the only thing to get wrecked on the edge of that mountain.

can you please do a younger sister fic where reader is in videos and gets a lot of hate comments?
Hate
Sturniolo Little Sister (SLS) x The Sturniolo Triplets
Warnings: Hate, body shaming, eating disorder, crying, etc.
SLS/N’s POV
“Oh my gosh Chris! Stop! That’s so gross!” I yelled at my brother as he burped in my face.
He laughed in return, trying to shield himself from my solid punch in the arm.
“Alright guys! That has been today’s video, I hope you all enjoys having our special guest in our video today-“ Nick started to say, giving the video it’s usual outro.
I waved to the camera before turning back to Chris and continued beating him up. Matt laughed and joined in while Nick finished talking to the camera.
-
laying in the darkness of my room at 1:30 in the morning, I opens my lap top and went to my brothers YouTube channel.
The video from earlier already had 500k views. Getting happy, I scrolled through the comment section to see what people thought of the video.
Omg yay!
Ew why’d they bring her??
Oh my lord Matt and Chris are so hooooot!!!
wow what a fatty
worst special guest ever
boring next
3467 more ⬇️
I could feel the tears well up in my eyes as I slammed my lap top shut.
I scrambled to the bathroom, trying to forget the feeling of sadness and dread pool in my stomach.
But I was instantly reminded when I made eye contact with myself in the bathroom mirror.
Wow you really are huge, I thought as I turned to my side, examining myself.
I quickly ran to my bed, desperately trying to fall asleep and get the thoughts out of my head.
-
“Woah, you look rough.” Chris said as I walked into the living room, sitting in the couch and pulling out my phones.
I rolled my eyes at him and shrugged, trying to hide my face behind my hair.
“Hey, sis. I made you a bagel.” Nick said, walking into the living room, sitting next to me, and handing me a paper plate.
I took it and mumbled my thanks to him. My brothers dug into their breakfast, but I just looked at mine, not being able to bring myself to eat it.
Do you know how many calories is in cream cheese?!?
-
“Hey, you okay?” Matt asked me, seeing how I had only taken about 2 and a half bite of my bagel.
“What- oh yeah…I’m good.” I say, nodding my head, trying to sound convincing. He gives me a suspicious look but I quickly play it off.
“I’m not very hungry today, I had snuck early this morning before I went back to sleep.” I lied. Matt looked reassured though.
I only had to keep this up till I was skinny and perfect, shouldn’t be that hard.
The only problem would be keeping this from my brothers.
-
it been a week.
A very, very long week.
Keeping this secret from my brothers just kept getting harder and harder, but I was learning.
“SLS/N! Dinners ready!” Nick yelled up the stairs.
“I need to finish up my project, I’ll be down in a second!” I yelled back. It was a complete lie, I finished the project three days ago.
This excuse would usually work, and he’d save my dinner on a plate. I’d then take it up to my room, and throw it away.
I sat on my bed, computer out, acting like I was doing work.
-
“I need to go switch the laundry, I’ll be right back okay.” Matt said as I started to unpack my dinner about an hour later. I nodded and he went into the laundry room.
I had to be quick.
I chucked my plate up side down into the trash, then covered it with wet paper towels so Chris wouldn’t get suspicious when he took the trash out.
I heard Matt begin to walk upstairs, so this gave me even more time to finish the dishes and clean the kitchen.
-
“SLS/N! Come up here please!” I hear Matt call.
he didn’t sound happy thought. I quickly rush up the stairs and walk to my room.
I open my door to see Matt standing there with his arms crossed over his chest, a disappointed look on his face. Chris was sitting on my bed, leaning forward with his head in his hands. Nick was holding my trash can in his hands, looking at me with a scared look in his eyes.
I felt dread pool in the bottom of my stomach.
“SLS/N? When’s the last time you ate?” Matt asked slowly.
he looked up at me and I could see tears in the brims of his eyes.
Then I broke.
“I-I can’t do I-i’t!” I said, crumpling onto the floor in sobs.
Matt rushed to my side, kneeling in front of me. “Shh, it’s okay I’m right here.” He says, whispering sweet word in my ears as I calm down.
“SLS/N…What happened?” Chris asked when my breathing had gone back to normal.
I told them all about the hate comments on the video, how they made me feel, and how they hurt me.
“I just hate the way it made me feel. So I thought that I change, it would be easier.” I rambled, tears still flowing out of my eyes.
“SLS/N, starving yourself is not easier, I promise. You’re not perfect, nobody is, so we can’t always have least everyone. Next time we need you to talk to us.” Nick said, coming over to join us, sitting on the floor.
I nodded my head, my lip quivering, afraid if I said a word, the sobs would come back.
Chris came over, wrapping his arms around us all in a great hug.
“We’re always here for you sis, no matter what.” Chris whispered.
omg I’m so sorry if this was shitty. I think I wrote it 30 mins 😭 I promise better content will be coming starting Wednesday.

Tipsy, smutty headcanons w/ cevans characters (pt. 2)
(aka: how Ransom Drysdale would fuck you after a family dinner goes south)
Tumblr media
He raises the subject on a lazy Sunday morning, over toasted English muffins and runny eggs on his sunny kitchen island.
Throws out the question like it’s a casual suggestion, but you know it’s a bigger deal than he’s letting on—in the short time you’ve known Ransom Drysdale, you’ve managed to pick up on a few of his tells: a quick tug at his collar, tongue darting across his bottom lip as he glances off to the side.
You know I’d rather die than sit through dinner alone.
And when it finally sinks in that your boyfriend of barely 2 months was asking you to dinner at his family’s house, you have to take an extra long sip of coffee to process what it really means.
Though you barely knew anything about Ransom’s family, you’ve heard enough horror stories about the Drysdales and Thrombeys to last you a lifetime.
Yet, you can tell from the way Ransom’s avoiding eye contact, and the way he’s been nudging the food on his plate for the last half hour, that this means something to him (and that a lot of other things mean something to him too, despite his indifferent exterior). So, you respond with a sweet ‘I’d love to, Ran,’  leaning over the marble island to seal your promise with a kiss.
Dinner at the Thrombey manor is about as pretentious and droll as you’d expected. From the tactless queries about your family’s tax bracket to the seemingly light-hearted jabs at your career—a PhD, huh? So that must mean kids are out of the question?—the evening is littered with tense moments from the first course right up until dessert. Yet, you evade every invasive question with a breezy answer and sweet smile, reaching under the table to squeeze Ransom’s hand whenever you see him stiffen in your periphery, lips twitching with simmering rage.
Promise me you’re not gonna let them get to you.
You’d reminded him at the entrance of the mansion, straightening out the edges of his collar with a calm smile.
And Ransom keeps his promise for the entirety of the dinner, refraining from sarcastic commentary to the point where Linda Drysdale starts eyeing her son with an inquisitive brow.
It’s not until after dinner, when Walt Thrombey ceremoniously suggests drinks and cigars in the drawing room, that things start heading south.
You should’ve seen it coming—all that jealously and insecurity brewing inside Harlan’s youngest son, always walking on eggshells around his dad just to keep his job at the publishing company. Forever envious of the potential that Harlan only sees in Ransom.
So, how’s my favorite nephew doing?
Walt sighs, sinking back in his armchair with a Cuban cigar between his lips. Uncorks the extravagant 40-year old Cognac he’s been saving—anything to get a rise out ofthe black sheep of the family.
And surely enough, it only takes a couple drinks before the backhanded comments start flowing faster than the alcohol. A snarky jab at Ransom’s car, his job.
How’s that freelance… writer thing going, Ransom?
Then rubs the latest best-sellers from his publishing company all over your boyfriend’s face.
And when none of that manages to get a rise out of Ransom, Walt’s gaze shifts over to you. Grins smugly around his cigar he takes a long puff.
He shrouds the room in smoke, directing a slurred question right over at Ransom as if you aren’t even there:
So. Another flavor of the month, huh Ransom?  How long do you think this one’s gonna last?
Even Richard Drysdale bristles in his seat, startled.
And you swear you see red flash across Ransom’s face as the room falls silent.
You murmur Ransom’s name, reaching over to squeeze his arm. But he beats you to the punch—grabbing your hand in one swift moment, lurching out of his seat and nearly tipping the couch over.
Eat shit, Walt.
With those words, he storms out of the room, you in tow. Slams the door behind you both, sealing the frenzy of bickering that erupts from the rest of the family:
Jesus, Walt, you really had to say that?
Ransom, honey, please—don’t go.
Really, Walter?
Oh come on, Lin, you know I was kidding!
Ransom remains silent the whole drive back, gravel crunching under the wheels of his beemer as he pulls up to his driveway. Instead of asking him to talk, you decide to let him have his space, slipping upstairs for a warm shower. God knows you needed it, after all the dirty looks Joni and Donna were flashing your way when they thought you weren’t looking.
When you walk back downstairs, you find Ransom hunched over the kitchen island, nursing a bottle of beer.
Because despite all the top shelf liquors paraded around during dinner tonight, you know Ransom’s drink of choice has always been beer.
Craft beer, to be more precise. In fact, he’s a little bit of a beer geek—growlers lining up his shelves, his fridge stocked with bottles from the best microbreweries around New England.
He pops open the top of what looks like his third drink, tossing the cap alongside the empty bottles of Treehouse littered atop his counter.
You approach him, feet sliding quietly across the wooden floor as you let your hair down, toweling off the wet ends.
Ran.
He remains silent, gaze fixed on the marble countertop as he takes another swig of his beer.
Ransom, are you still upset about what Walt said?
When he still remains motionless, you sigh, pursing your lips as you take another step forward.
He was just drunk. It didn’t bother me, really.
Slowly, he glances over at you. And when his blurry eyes come into focus, they flit down your frame. He finally opens his mouth, voice barely above a whisper.
That my sweater?
Hmm?
You pause, frowning at the question, and glance down at the knitted beige sweater enveloping your frame—his sweater, covered in so many holes and snagged threads that you’d always had poked fun at him for even keeping it around.
Oh, yeah, do you mind if borrow it? I found it in—
You’re suddenly interrupted by a dull ‘clang’ as he drop his beer down on the counter, rushing forward toward you. His hands search desperately for your waist, pulling you flush against him as his lips meet yours in a frenzied kiss.
He pulls you back into the kitchen, crowding you between the counter and his giant frame. Your eyes flutter shut, feeling his heavy breaths against your skin as his lips drag down your neck, nimble fingers dipping under the hem of your sweater. And when his palms snake around the back of your thighs, hoisting you up on the marble surface, you gasp against his mouth, gripping at his shoulders for balance.
Ran, w-what are you doing?
And without missing a beat, you feel him murmur into your pulse point:
Loving you.
Taken aback by his shameless affection, because Ransom’s never been the type to wear his heart on his sleeves, you blush, eyes flitting up to the ceiling.
Y-you’re drunk.
Maybe.
He hums, hands traveling underneath your sweater to grip at your hips, your waist, pulling you even closer to where he needs you most.
But I’ve never felt more fucking lucid in my life.
He looks you dead in the eyes, wetting two of his digits with his mouth before he reaches down.
Ran.
You murmur aimlessly into his shoulder, eyes fluttering shut at the way his palm slides against your sex, thumb rubbing slow circles against your clit as his fingers sink into your heat.
And when he decides you’ve taken enough of his torment, he lays you back on the marble countertop, loose magazines and beer bottles toppling to the floor as he carelessly shoves them aside. Shucks the sweater up to your neck so your tits are on full display, smiling at the way it makes you whine, cheeks flushed and eyes glossy with desperation.
The sharp lines of his face softened by something other than just the alcohol, his gaze flits down to the apex of your thighs, mouth inching southward as he murmurs:
You want me here, darling?
He spreads your legs wide open, arms snaking around your thighs and pulling you down to the edge of the counter.
Tongue pressed flat against your clit as he sinks two fingers into your heat, trying to coax more of those pretty little whimpers out of your mouth. Degrades you just a smidge, smirking into your cunt:
Fuck, look at you in my sweater.
Nose digging into your mound as he stares up hungrily, chasing your sweetness on his tongue.
C’mon, play with those pretty tits for me.
Pulls back just as your head starts lolling over to one side, a telltale sign that you’re on the brink. With your lips buried into the soft material of his sweater, you start to babble incoherently, broken syllables of baby, and please, and fuck.
You close, darling?
You meet his eyes from between your legs, squirming as you nod under his gaze.
p-please—Ran, need, need ta…
Mm, you’re gonna have to beg louder than that, sweetheart.
He shakes his head, flashing you a shit-eating grin as he draws feather-light circles over your clit, just enough to keep you teetering over the edge.
Please, Ransom, fuck me, I—
And when he finally lets you come, it’s the kind of toe-curling, back-arching-off-the counter orgasm that wipes your mind clean of everything that’s happened that evening. The noise that escapes your mouth is enough to reach his neighbors from down the road, his fingers curling and hitting that spot just right, flooding you with waves after waves of pleasure.
Once you finally come to, he clambers over you with a hungry snarl, giving you a bruising kiss.
You pull back, blinking up at him with an exhausted laugh as you wipe the wetness off his chin with your thumb.
He leans back down with a lazy smile, giving you another quick peck before muttering against your lips:
Move in with me.
You frown, the abruptness of his words knocking out whatever breath is left in you.
What?
He gazes back silently, expression unwavering despite the incredulous look on your face.
Mind still half-gone, you try to wrap your head around his words, eyes widening when it fully sinks in.
B-but, Ran, my dissertation—
—then we’ll get a place in Cambridge, I don’t care.
He seals his lips with a determined grin, and you know he’s made up his mind. Now, he’d do anything to try and convince you too.
And it there’s one thing you’ve come to learn about Ransom Drysdale, it’s that he never gives up easy.
He reaches forward, cupping your cheek in his palm. And the smug smile on his pretty pink lips is indication that he already knows—knows that you don’t any convincing in the first place.
Well, why don’t you think on it while I…
He smiles, crossing your ankles behind his hips as he pulls you down, hoisting you off the counter.
…give you a proper fucking upstairs?

author's note: aaand what was supposed to be a headcanon/drabble situation turned into a one shot. I just liked the setup leading up to the actual smut too much to let it go! Also, I think this is the first ransom fic I’ve ever posted?! Lmk what you think!
P.S. the point about Ransom being a beer geek is 100% canon—a fascinating tidbit that makes his character that much more endearing. (peep the new england craft beers in this scene and this hidden secret abt the position of the beer bottles!! rian johnson is truly a mastermind.)

“[Villain].”
The villain lets out an audible groan that inevitably raises their manager’s eyebrow. A short ball of fury, basically straight out of college. Not too unlike the villain. “Is it in my contract that I’m allowed to ignore you?”
“It’s not.” He gives them a moment where he clearly expects them to turn around. They don’t. “I need you to train up the new guy.”
“Do I have to?”
Their manager nudges someone forward as they turn. “‘Fraid so. You’ve been here the longest.”
No, that’s you, the villain’s about to say. But then their eyes fall on the new hire, who looks like she’s already regretting every life decision she’s ever made. What the hell is a hero doing in a burger joint?
“Okay,” the manager adds after a long moment, “staring is rude, [Villain]. Let’s dial it back.”
Their name jolts them out of their stupor. “I– yeah, sorry. I just, uh, recognise her from, uh…” The hero waits expectantly. Their manager tips his head curiously. “… high school.”
“Oh! Old acquaintances.” The manager claps his hands like this solves everything. “Lots of catching up to do, huh? I’ll leave you guys here then—and [Villain], please, for the love of god, train her up at least a bit amidst the chatting.”
The manager gives the hero a friendly pat on the back before throwing the villain a quick smile and disappearing around the door again.
The hero stares blankly at the villain. The villain stares equally blankly straight back. “Do you work here?” the hero asks eventually.
The villain doesn’t feel too inclined to answer that. “Do you?” they shoot back.
The hero clicks her tongue, shuffling on her feet. “Why don’t you show me how the fryers work before I have to kill you for getting too personal?”
“Ah, yes, the fryers.” The villain turns to the bubbling pot of oil next to them. “Hot enough to cook chips and to dissolve a body in.”
The hero’s face scrunches up seemingly on instinct, and the villain can’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry,” they say with forced friendliness, “I change the oil before I cook food in it.”
“Okay,” the hero says like she’s three seconds from throwing up. “Is there someone else here who can show me stuff?”
“You wish,” the villain jeers. “Manager’s busy, you saw him. Only other guy here only works on Thursdays and Sundays.”
“It’s Thursday today.”
“Exactly. Not what I’d call reliable. I, however” — the villain does a twirl for dramatic effect — “am here… more often than I am willing to tell you.”
“Well.” The hero smirks, the kind of expression no one wants to see on a hero’s face. “I’m sure I’ll figure out when you’re here if I stop by enough. What, is it full time? Does villainy pay peanuts?”
The villain refrains from the urge to punch her. “Does the agency?”
The hero’s mocking expression turns flat. “I’m here undercover,” she says plainly.
“I recognised you immediately.”
“Well, I’m not here for you.” The hero pushes past them to figure out the fryer on her own. “I’m not telling you any more than that.”
“I better warn my friends you’re here, then.” The villain snorts as the hero fiddles with the knob. “Are you here to give whoever you’re looking for food poisoning?”
“I know how to cook, [Villain].”
“You’re turning the heat too low.”
The hero pointedly pulls the knob back up. “Just show me how the kitchen works, please, and I’ll consider not telling your manager who he’s working with.”
The villain fixes her with a long stare. “I could blow your cover too.” But they roll their eyes and beckon her over to the griddle anyway. “Okay, so, wrong me and I’ll shove your entire face on this.”
The villain shows the hero around the kitchen, each bit of apparatus accompanied with a lovingly detailed description of how the villain intends to use each one against the hero if she pushes her luck. The hero listens with distaste mashed into her expression the whole time.
“Let’s try and keep things civil, okay?” the hero says when she’s clearly had enough of all the different ways the villain has on hand to murder her. “I don’t fancy fighting in a kitchen, and I’m sure you don’t either.”
Oh, god, how wrong the hero is. They’re itching to grab one of those knives off the hook and just—
No. They have to play it safe to begin with, keep it lowkey, make her feel a little too safe. So they just roll their eyes and, with all the authenticity they can muster, simply say “agreed.”

That Girl Is Mine
Tara Carpenter x Saxophoneplayer!Fem!Reader
Summary: You play saxophone with a band called “Sweaters In Fall”, you and another girl plus three other guys are in it. You’re girlfriend Tara comes to see your biggest concert at the Radio City Music Hall (NYC), after the concert things do seem to work with you in the band
Warnings: Fluff, Cat-Calling, Little bit of blood, Pervert, sexual mentions, lots of cursing, some punching
Y/F/B: Your Favorite Band
Y/N/N: Your Nickname
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s the night before you and your bands performance at the Radio Music Hall.
You were very nervous, it was unusual for you to be this nervous. It wasn’t because of the people but it was because your girlfriend was coming to watch with her friends and her older sister Sam.
Not that you were scared of Tara being there, you were excited that the dark brunette and her friends were coming, it was just Sam.
Sam never really liked you, she had her suspicions. You respected that since after what they’ve gone through was tragic. This special night wasn’t just about winning an award to you but it meant to prove yourself worthy for Tara, you wanted Sam to see your talent and maybe she’ll like you. Maybe….
“Yo Y/n! What’s got ya all worked up?” Your bandmate Damien asked, he was a nice guy, he was a tall lengthy black man about in his middle twenties. “You’re not all pumped up like you normally are during rehearsal.”
“Just nervous I guess…” “Nonsense! You’re never nervous!” Kayleen hyped. Kayleen was your best friend, you guys were pretty close she was the reason why you joined the band. Damien and the other two guys were a little eh about another Saxophone player joining, but the raven hair just glared at them and had you join. You were the high voice of the group, the great Alto Sax player.
“Yeah, Y/N/N, you seem so low right now and you’re the loudest person normally.” Pip spoke, Pip was your 3rd favorite of the group. He was pretty quiet the majority of the time but he indeed was a fantastic Trumpet player. ‘Pip the Pipet’ Damien gave him the nickname, Pip hated it but he’s adjusted to it now since it sticks with him.
You all had nicknames, yours was Sexy Sax (boy you hate it but at this point you don’t care, Tara teases you about it), Kayleen’s was Sax Positive, every time you hear that nickname you can’t help but laugh a little. Damien’s is Damn Keyboard (idk) as he played keyboard in the band. Last but not least Dan…
you hated Dan oh boy, if you were to go ghostface he’d be the reason.
Dan was a creep in your opinion. Nobody else agreed though, he was just very…odd. He was an older man, I’d say in his early 40’s, he does have a lot of experience in jazz and band in general but he seemed off…every time after your solo in one of the songs you’d catch him looking at you with heart eyes, you’d catch him doing it to Kayleen as well. Eugh…you hate him
“Yeah baby stop being so low, your supposed have a high pitched voice in the band. If you know what I mean.” Dan said…flirted?
You wanted to throw up after he said that. Fuck he gives you the jeepers creepers.
“I’m fine guys I swear. It’s just my girlfriend is coming to watch tomorrow and her sister..isn’t quite found of me..” you rambled.
“Sorry to hear that champ. But everything will go great! Just…focus on yourself and not the crowed.” Damien explained, you have him a nod.
“Well, it’s getting late guys we should head home for the night,” everybody nodded in agreement with Pip.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a quick walk home, you hadn’t lived far from Damien’s house. Which is where you guys rehearsed most days unless the Blackmore’s band director lets you in.
Moonlight On the River by Mac DeMarco was playing in your ears, your saxophone in case swaying in your left hand as you trotted in the perfect white snow on New York’s streets to your way home.
You swore someone was following you, feeling eyes staring at the back of your head. You stopped in your tracks turning around to see no one.
Maybe it’s an animal or my imagination?
You thought
As paranoid as you used to be it’s been higher ever since you heard about the ghostface attacks. Tara always pushed you away when you met, you weren’t sure why until you discovered she was The younger sister of Sam Carpenter.
Eventually you told her you don’t care about some psycho idiot under a ghost mask with a knife.
It wasn’t long after you confessed that you really liked her and started the first date. It’s been a few months since you guys started dating, you both were happy.
You told Tara you’d always be there for her if she wanted to talk about everything or anything else that’s keeping her down. She appreciates you for that, but also doesn’t want to burden you because she knows you have your own issues.
Opening your apartment door, stepping in and feeling the nice warmth greeting you. You flicked on the lights with your free hand after slipping off your shoes and walked to your bedroom.
You sat down your saxophone in the corner of your room as well as your backpack, coat. Walking over to your bed taking the snow covered sweater and sweatpants you were wearing off. (I’m more masc btw so masculine wear)
Putting on a white-T with a sweatshirt over that has Y/F/B on it and throwing on a black pair of sleep pants. That’s when your phone started buzzing in your bag.
You grabbed your bag again and opened it to grab your phone, seeing that your one and only was calling you.
With a smile you pressed the green button without hesitation and pulled the phone to your ear.
“Hey Baby!”
You blushed at her voice and nickname
“Hey Tar, how was your day?”
“Not bad, just- some arguing with Sam. You know, the usual.”
“Sorry to hear that, what was it about? If you done mind me asking.”
“It’s fine love, it was just about me walking alone to school. She needs to grow up sometimes, I mean I do appreciate her safety, it’s just a pain up my ass all the time.”
You understood Tara’s annoyance, your mom was the same. She’d harp on you about being safe even if your taking out the trash, (though you don’t live with her no more)
Sam was always protective, ever since the first Ghostface incident. Sam has prevented Tara from having outside friends (definitely after Quinn and Ethan).
That’s why Sam dislikes you, she’s scared you’ll be the next ghostface. But Tara wants Sam to understand that she’ll fall in love at some point, and she already has. It’s you
You’re the lucky girl
“Yeah I know hun, hey tell you what. Tomorrow night I’ll prove Sam with my magical music talent that I’m worthy!”
Tara chuckled, “sure baby, you are quiet talented my musical girl. I’m excited for tomorrow, by the way, how was practice?”
“Good, Kayleen and the boys are hyped. I think we’re all ready, I’m just a bit nervous…” you said, biting your nails.
“Why nervous Y/N/N? You’re never nervous.”
“That’s what the band said..haha.” You paused with a fake laugh. “I guess it’s me trying to prove how good I am to Sam, and how important you are to me.”
“Honey, even if Sam didn’t care about tomorrow then screw her, cause you shouldn’t care about what Sam thinks. It’s Sam! But I know Sam will get your trust eventually she just has a hard time opening up,” you sigh, “plus I think she’ll love it. Sam really likes music if you didn’t know.”
“I didn’t know actually, but thanks Tar.”
“No problem baby, I gotta go Sam needs my help with dinner. I’ll see you tomorrow night! Love ya!”
Your heart skipped a beat, “love you too, see ya!”
You smiled widely after Tara hung up. You were going to prove your worthy for Tara to Sam.
Sam doesn’t realize how much you love that little feisty girl
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s currently 7:30
Your show starts in thirty minutes
Sitting on an old chair in the back room as Kayleen does a few more touches with your make-up
You weren’t a big fan of wearing make-up, but Kayleen insisted on you wearing some especially for tonight. It wasn’t crazy make-up, just some highlights and eyeliner, nothing punk looking but more casual.
“Cmon Y/N/N you’re our sexy sax you gotta look sexy,” you rolled your eyes. “Even Pip gets a little bit of a make-over!”
“Uh-what?” Pip quipped.
“…Annnnd done!” Kayleen exclaimed, “it’s your turn Pip!”
Pip groaned but gave in
“A-are we all getting make-up?” Damien asked.
“No, Pip just doesn’t get the option because he’s one of our big soloists! But if you want make-up I’d be happy to-”
“Absolutely not,” both Damien and Dan said. The raven shrugged and went back to work
“So Y/N/N? How are you feeling?” Damien asked, as he sat next to you.
“Better, I talked to my girlfriend last night and told about my nerves but she said I’ll be okay and other things.” “Awe, she must be a real sweet one.” You blushed as his comment, Tara was a sweet one even if she’s a little feisty at times.
“We have about ten minutes left.” Dan looked at his watch.
“Shit!!” Kayleen squealed.
You laughed at her antics when she jumped to grab more blush
“We’ve got time girl.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tara shifted in her seat as she looked around the interior of the Music Hall.
She’s never been inside the music building, she’s only passed in on walks, in a taxi or on the bus.
It was quite beautiful, the lights were pretty, the room was nice and warm and it was just gorgeous in general, it was a very open dome with a lot of people.
Sam didn’t want to spend a lot of money so they chose the middle seats on the balcony. Tara wouldn’t really be able to see you but the tv’s they had were enough to see your gorgeous face.
“God I’m so excited! Thanks again Sam!” Chad smiled bright. Mindy thanked her too.
“Of course,” Sam smiled. “Thanks Sam, seriously, you don’t know how much this means to me and especially Y/N/N.”
The older Carpenter smiled at her little sister.
“Up next we have our Jazz Band “Sweaters In Fall!!!”
When Tara heard your band name she perked up and watched ahead of her as she cheered with the crowed.
You and band walked up stage with your instruments, the keyboard and drums already set for Damien and Dan.
“Let’s meet our lovely band! Up first is Pip the Pippet! Our Trumpeter!” Pip smiled shyly.
“Second we have Sax Positive Kayleen!”
Mindy shook her head, “reminds me of Quinn sadly.” Tara chuckled a bit.
“Third we have Damien that Damn Keyboard!” Everybody laughed and cheered.
“Fourth we have Drummer Dan!”
“He looks like he’s sixty!!” Chad yelled. Tara didn’t like Dan, the stuff you’ve told Tara about him make her sick in the stomach but that feeling faded away once the guy announcing announced your name.
“Last but not Least! Y/N/N the Sexy Sax player!!” (Sorry not sorry)
Tara blushed when you waved a bit to the the crowed. Knowing you were looking for her.
“Let’s get this party started!”
~~~~~~~~~(sorry if it’s cheesy 😭)
You were at the last song of your album. The next song was more of something you wrote yourself. (Not actually 😭 cause that’d be copyright)
Tara cheered with the crowed once the song was finished. You eagerly searched for her in the crowed then spotted her a bit later.
You blew a kiss at her as she did it back.
“Cmon Y/n! We gotta go!” Pip called.
You nodded, taking one last glance in Tara’s direction before following your friends.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“That’s it! That was it my guys!” Damien screamed in victory.
“Eh it was alright-” “What do you mean it was alright Kay? That was our best yet!!” Pip cut off Kayleen.
You smiled bright once you entered the backroom. This was definitely the best performance you’ve had in awhile, and you were proud of that.
It didn’t matter to you if you won something but- it mattered that you did it. All you cared about was Sam liking you.
The band continued to talk about the performance whilst you put up your saxophone.
“Y/n!” You looked up at her voice.
Tara jumped into your arms with a big smile, Sam and her friends no too far behind.
“Hey babe! How’s you guys get in?” You looked over Tara’s shoulder, making sure no guards were about to run in saying they broke in.
“They let us in, I told them I was with you.”
“Now who’s this pretty lady?” Dan asked, he made your stomach curl and in a disgusted way.
“I’m Tara,” she said a little grossed out herself.
“Hey! Y/n, you can officially meet Sam now!” Tara turned to her older sister, motioning Sam to approach.
Sam looked at you with those ‘I don’t trust you eyes’. Sam scared you a bit, but being up close..Jesus you were more scared.
“Nice to meet you Y/n,” your eyes widened. Sam, Sam Carpenter being nice to you? She held out her hand waiting for you to shake it. “I-uh hi- S-Sam.”
Sam pulled her hand away and chuckled, “you don’t need to be afraid of me. Sorry for scaring you a bit, I’m a bit worried meeting new people. As Tara probably already told you.”
You nodded with a small smile. Tara was ecstatic with your first impressions on each other.
“Yo Y/n! You gonna introduce them?” Damien spoke.
“Oh uh- yeah! This is my girlfriend Tara her sister and friends. Guys this is Damien, Kayleen, Pip and-..Dan.” You pointed to the each of them.
There were some waves and hi’s
“Y/n, you didn’t tell me your girlfriend was hella hot.” Dan walked close.
“Excuse me?” Both you, Tara and Sam said.
“You heard me.”
You looked at Dan with hatred. “Back the fuck up.”
“Woah, no need to get all frisky babe.”
“Don’t fucking call her that!” Tara yelled.
You put a hand out in front of Tara, keeping her back.
“Damn, she’s loud too.”
“Shut the fuck up you perverted mother fucker!” You shoved Dan back, but it wasn’t long before he struck your nose with his fist.
You stumbled back, wincing and clutching your nose as it bled. “Y/n..”
“Oh come on Y/n, your worse than your are at pleasing her.”
That’s when Sam lost it as well. Sam punched Dan, you pushing Sam back to finish the job.
You grabbed him by the shoulders and slamming him against the wall. “I swear to fucking god! If you ever say any of those things ever again I’ll break your skull!!!”
“Hmp, I’d like to see you try.”
Damien and Sam both grabbed your arm before you got the chance to swing another punch at him.
“Let me go!!”
“Dan, get the fuck away! Go! You’re out of this fucking band!!” Damien screamed.
“Whatever, I didn’t want to be here anyways, I just wanted to see some ladies.” Dan chuckled.
You snarled. “Get him away from me.”
Damien and Pip nodded before getting Dan out of the room.
“Y/n-” “Let’s just go home.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“How’s it feeling?”
You and Tara were in her bedroom. After tonight’s event, your hand was swollen and bleeding. Sam checked it and no brokenness to it, just some bruises and scratches, plus it’ll sting.
“Like shit.” You huffed, laying back on her bed. Tara already patched you up, it hurt like a bitch too.
“I’m sorry,” “no. I’m sorry, I should’ve just kicked him off the band way before!” You threw your hands up.
“Baby, it’s not your fault. It isn’t your fault he’s some fucked up pervert, but thank you for defending me.” Tara brushed her fingers through your sweaty hair.
“Anytime..” you smile. Tara leaned down to kiss you on the lips, placing her scarred hand on your unharmed cheek.
“I love you.” “Love you too.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Can you write smut prompt 10: “Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of you.” With Arber?
also. Any chance we get something longer for him? Like a one shot or your usual 10 chapters?
My first Arber prompt and I’m SCREECHING. Thanks anon.
To answer your question yes, there will be a full 10 chapters for Arber coming soon…I hope. I have some other projects to finish up. Can’t justify posting something new right now. I hope you like this!
“Is it me? Am I the problem?”
Arber made a face and scoffed “What? No. Your boyfriend is an asshole that’s the problem.”
You let your head fall back on to the cushions of his sofa. Your relationship sucked, there was no other way to put it. It was a revolving door of arguments, storming out of the house, and returning to do it all over again. You had liked him once, but it was getting really old really quick and you had about had enough. Arber had been a saint, listening to you whine and moan constantly, but he always sided with you, and would have even if you’d been wrong. He had never liked your boyfriend, insisting he wasn’t good enough for you and that you should drop him on his ass.
He’d also offered to punch him.
“You need to start listening to me. I know what I’m talking about.” He tipped the beer bottle at you and then leaned back, brushing the hair off his forehead.
“I just don’t get it. Like what’s this guy want from me?” You stood and walked to the trash to throw your empty beer bottle away and glanced at him over your shoulder. He was watching you walk, eyes moving down your legs and back up before he met your eyes and cleared his throat.
“Beats me. He’s already dating out of his league. He could at least show his appreciation.” He mumbled.
“I-what?” You paused and turned to look at him confused, eyebrows knitting together.
He rolled his eyes and let out a small laugh “Oh come on. Don’t be coy. You know you’re hot.” You watched as he stood, eyes catching yours, as he rounded the couch.
“I mean I don’t but.” It was true. Your self esteem had never been overly high, and this mental manipulation had fucked you up over the last year. You had been gaslit into thinking you were the one in the wrong no matter how many people, Arber included, told you that you weren’t.
“That’s cuz that idiot you’re dating doesn’t tell you enough. If you were my girl I’d be showing you all the time.” He said taking a step forward.
“Oh yeah? How?” You felt a littler jitter of nerves ans butterflies as he moved slowly across the room, eyes on you like a cat stalking its prey.
“You deserve to be told all the great things about you. To be told you’re beautiful, and hot. To be told your ass looks phenomenal in those pants.” He was close to you now, enough that you could reach out to touch him. The butterflies were now bouncing around your insides and he knew it “Just tell me to stop if you want me to stop.” He reached a hand forward to push a lock of hair away from your face.
You shook your head, eyes moving to his mouth and back up before he pressed you up against the counter kissing you heavily.
It had been a long time since you were kissed like that, and it sent an immediate heat between your legs.
“You should always be kissed that way.” He said when he pulled away from you. His hands were resting low on your hips, breath hot on your face.
“What else?” You whispered, running a hand up his arm.
“You deserve great sex.”
In one swift movement he was carrying you out of his kitchen and into his room, yanking his shirt over his head and helping you out of your clothing. Your breath was heaving and you shivered in anticipation as he stepped out of his boxers and hovered over you, slotting himself in between your legs. He leaned forward, lips moving across your jaw before the moved down your neck.
“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of you.” He said lowly against your ear, as he pushed inside. Everything about Arber was thick, muscle rolling under his skin as he moved above you, a thin sheen of sweat appearing on both of you. If you hadn’t been totally enthralled with what was happening you would have been smacking yourself in the face for going all this time without this. And then he was kissing you, tongue moving against yours in a way you had never felt before.
You had been missing out.
Arber very gently, but firmly wrapped one large hand around your neck squeezing slightly, splaying the other hand across your hip.
“Arber I-“
“Shhhhhh. Hang on-“
He pulled out suddenly and flipped you over, pulling your hips up to meet his before he pushed inside. You gasped and let out a tiny scream as he wrapped your hair around his hand and gave another rough thrust.
“Ohmygod.” He slid one hand across your lower back, and pushed in harder and faster each time. Your knees were aching and your body felt like it was on fire, but it felt fucking fantastic and you never wanted it to end.
But it did. And it ended with an earth shaking, swing from the chandeliers orgasm you never thought you’d have.
“Now that’s what you deserve.” He said breathlessly as he landed on the bed with a squeak next to you. You gave a breathy laugh and leaned forward to kiss him before you whispered “How about I show you what you deserve.”

Goodnight, Moonlight
A/N: Y’know, I’m actually super proud of this fic. I was unsure of myself and the direction that I wanted to go, but I ended with something that I really like. Please let me know if you want another part, I’d love to continue the story and see where our lovebirds end up next. ;)
TW: Cannon-typical levels of violence and gore, aquatic fighting, mentions of drowning, reader is described to be physically strong and have typical traits and skills that a victor from District 4 would have (dw I can’t swim but I can be delulu), reader maintains their obliviousness, slightly OOC! Peeta and Katniss (I've never written for them before so please excuse any flaws), poison fogs, reader and Co. sustains multiple injuries, death (no main character death yet)
Pairing: Finnick x GN! Reader (”one-sided” romantic to shared romantic)
Summary: As you’re thrust into the arena, you’re forced to focus on keeping yourself alive, keeping your mentor and Katniss from harming one another, and keeping ahead of the endless perils that are thrown your way. Mixed signals from Finnick eventually even out, and a moment of clarity brings you two closer together than you’ve ever been before.

Tumblr media
Finnick can’t die or get captured by the Capitol. It has to be me.
That’s your first coherent thought as the pedestal stabilizes in the arena. You find yourself growing oddly… familiar with this environment, these few seconds where nothing yet everything matters.
You can’t see Finnick or Katniss, but you recognize Johanna’s fiery red hair. You also spot Wiress and Beetee close together, and you let yourself relax for a moment before the canon fires.
Water.
You dive into the water without a second thought. Swimming is as natural as breathing, given your home district, and you easily outrace your competitors to the rocks that lead to the Cornucopia. You climb on the rocks with ease, and you’re running towards the center of the arena until you spot blonde hair struggling to swim in the water.
Peeta.
You don’t hesitate to switch course and dive in after him. Helping Peeta would not only get you further into Katniss’s good graces, but it would be right on target with your image in the Capitol.
That’s exactly the kind of thinking that Finnick encouraged.
You push your mentor out of your mind as you quickly peek above water and spot another male heading towards Peeta. His eyes are dripping venom, but you’re not scared to shoot a murderous look back.
Sunny was a sweet mentor, a respectful celebrity, and a dangerous tribute. You could manage to be all three - as long as you did so with a smile on your face.
“Don’t be afraid to smile,” President Snow chides as you nervously stare at the carnations as his desk, “you know that’s what the people want to see, right?”
The image of Snow’s head on a large spike is enough to motivate you to swim faster than your competition.
You push Peeta out of the way before landing a punch to the face of the other man. From a quick assessment, you weren’t as strong as this man, but he couldn’t fight in water like you could.
You dodge an uncoordinated swing to your left side before landing another hit - this time you punch his chest. He takes a bigger breath as his eyes meet yours.
You offer a warm smile before he tries - and fails - to land another hit. You look over for just a second, just to make sure that Peeta’s still in your peripheral vision, before the other tribute tackles you under the surface of the water.
You immediately thrash around as he tries to keep you under - a lucky breath saves you from drowning as you manage to free yourself from his grasp.
He’ll drown if he tries to drown me.
You emerge from the water, and the warm air that enters your lungs causes you to cough violently. You grab onto a nearby pedestal as you try to locate Peeta in-between coughing fits.
You spot Peeta as he throws a punch at the man, and your head snaps to the Cornucopia as your breaths even out. From a distance, you see a man with a trident looking for someone, and you take a bet on who that might be as you wave a hand in the air.
Finnick immediately rushes around the Cornucopia after he spots you, and returns with a black-haired girl who you could recognize from a mile away.
You swim towards the rocks before finally making your way out of the water. The warm air on all of your skin feels like relief in its sweetest form - one that is most welcome as you realize how drained you are from one simple encounter.
It has to be the water because I cannot be a weakness right now.
You point out Peeta in the water once Finnick and Katniss get closer, and Finnick doesn’t hesitate to dive in as Peeta continues to struggle in the water.
For the first time in a long time, you fear for his safety. Peeta’s a teenager, just like you were, but he’s already back in the arena.
This isn’t fair.
Words die on the tip of your tongue - comforting people was your speciality, but Katniss didn’t appear to need comforting as she raises her bow and prepares to fire an arrow.
When Peeta and the other tribute are submerged underwater before Finnick gets to them, Katniss reluctantly puts down her bow as she stares expectantly into the water.
You jump when the canon fires, and the hope in her eyes turns to fear as a still body emerges from the water. You’re scared to look because if it’s Peeta-
Thankfully, Peeta emerges from the water as Finnick reaches him, and they both swim back safely as you and Katniss share a relieved expression.
Katniss watches the Cornucopia as the careers gather there and stare her down, and you grab Finnick’s trident from the rocks.
It doesn’t feel right in my hands - it’s like this weapon was meant to be with Finnick.
You hand Finnick his trident after he gathers himself, and you watch Katniss take Peeta’s hand and help him out of the water.
“You alright?” Finnick places a hand on your shoulder, and the weight of your earlier realization crashes down on you as you nod.
You can’t let Finnick get hurt, but you can’t let him know that you feel this way about him because you know how he feels about-
“I’m good, thanks,” You gently place your hand on his, “but you really couldn’t grab me a weapon?”
The serious expression melts off his face as he chuckles slightly, and you feel a bit self-conscious as Katniss and Peeta stare at you like wild deer.
“I didn’t have time, and I know you’re better with your fists, sweetheart.” Finnick replies to your teasing with a smile as he lets go of your shoulder.
You find yourself missing his touch - don’t think about Finnick like that - when Peeta steps towards you.
“Thank you fo-“
“You can thank me when we’re out of here, okay?” You interrupt him before another cannon sounds. “I don’t feel like becoming prey for the predators.”
Katniss glances back at the Cornucopia one last time as the four of you make your way towards the beach and into the thick forestry that awaits you.
~
Your quartet runs into the forest as Peeta leads with Katniss right behind him. Finnick allows you to go in front of him with a handsome smile and welcoming arm gesture (you’d have to tease him about that later).
Your mind wanders as your feet effortlessly navigate the forest floor - playing tag on rock beaches and having some experience in rock climbing did have its uses, after all.
Does Finnick mean what he says when he calls me sweetheart, or is it apart of the Capitol facade? I suppose I’m not much better - does Finnick know who I truly am behind the sunshine?
The distinction had become unclear for yourself - you were kind, but that wasn’t all that you were. You liked to tease your mentor and be a thorn in his side, but you also wanted to help the children in your district understand that there is life outside of the games. Couldn’t both sides of you coexist at the same time?
“Okay, hold up, hold up!”
Finnick’s voice causes you to pause as your breathing catches up with the rest of your body - you’d run a long distance without being phased in the slightest. You need to take breaks so you could be energized for a possible encounter, but a quick look back assures you that the Cornucopia is out of sight and, for now, out of mind.
Peeta’s the first to sit, and you’re quick to follow as you watch Katniss scan the environment for any possible danger. Finnick catches up and sits next to you. Katniss reluctantly kneels as you start to fan yourself - you’re in a jungle, not a forest, and it’s fucking hot.
“God, it’s hot,” You wipe the sweat from your forehead as Peeta speaks, “we got to find fresh water.”
You glance over at Finnick, who offers you a reassuring nod. You notice that Katniss is watching the two of you, but you choose not to say anything. She’s paranoid and overprotective, and who wouldn’t be?
A booming cannon pushes everyone’s attention to the sky, which is quickly followed by a second and third cannon.
With his bright smile and a small laugh, Finnick tries to lighten the mood with a simple joke.
“I guess we’re not holding hands anymore.”
You briefly smile and chuckle under your breath before Katniss chimes in.
“You think that’s funny?”
Your eyes widen as you glance over at Finnick to see how he handles her aggression.
“Every time that cannon goes off, it’s music to my ears. I don’t care about any of them.”
“Good to hear.” Katniss draws a machete from her back as you place a hand on Finnick’s arm.
You’d always be there for him, and you’d fight off Katniss if that’s what it took, but you needed her alive, along with Peeta. Although you had know her for such little time, you saw your younger spirit in her - the feisty, brash child that fought with her heart in her hand.
“Wanna face the career pack alone?” Finnick pauses for a beat before asking her another question. “What would Haymitch say?”
“Sunny, you have to know that Katniss doesn’t play nice with others.”
“But she was nice to me, Haymitch-“
“You’re odd, just like she is. Maybe you can find some common ground and convince her to not shoot Finnick the moment he opens his mouth.”
“…Thanks.”
He’d probably tell you, at this very moment, to grab a drink and enjoy the show, but you had to keep the peace.
For his sake, for Peeta’s sake, and for my sake.
“Haymitch isn’t here.” Katniss coldly answers while slightly lowering her machete.
“We should get going.” You glance over at Peeta, who nods in acknowledgment.
“Yeah, let’s keep moving.”
You pull yourself off the ground, and Peeta does the same while Katniss stares daggers into Finnick.
“Play nice,” You mumble under your breath to Finnick before walking over to Katniss, “and I’m sorry that his ego can get in the way sometimes. He’s a nice guy, I promise.”
You offer Katniss a hand up off the ground as a truce, and a small smile appears and then quickly disappears off her face as she takes your hand.
~
“For the record,” Finnick mumbles as you walk with him behind Katniss and Peeta, “I was playing nice. She’s just a bit… rough around the edges.”
“Sounds like someone else I know.” You roll your eyes as Finnick bumps your shoulder.
“First you say I have an ego, and now this,” He sighs before playfully pushing you ahead, “I’m starting to think you don’t like me, Sunny.”
You feel your face start to heat up as you begin to fidget with a part of your clothing.
If only he knew how much I really liked him-
“Of course I do, Finnick.” You bite your lip while hoping that he doesn’t notice the effect his words and lingering touches have on you.
Don’t think about this right now-
“I’m glad someone here does.”
His comment earns his a golden stare down from Katniss, and you lightly smack his shoulder before continuing on in silence.
Peeta cuts through the vines ahead as creatures of the jungles - ones that you hope aren’t here to eat you - make various noises that only set your nerves over the edge. Katniss falls behind you and Finnick, and you can only hope that you’ve set her mind off of killing Finnick, even if it’s just for a moment.
You continue to walk on, but you pause once you hear Katniss’ footsteps stop. Finnick doesn’t take notice of the situation, but you can tell that she’s seen something worthy of alarm.
Peeta continues to swing the machete when you see a small reflection of light on a bush in front of him. Your eyes widen in alarm as you take a small step back.
The forcefield-!
“Peeta, no!” Katniss screams at Peeta strikes the forcefield.
Sparks fly as you instinctually cover your eyes with one arm, and you use the other arm to shield Katniss as much as possible. Peeta is blown back by the impact, and you’re knocked to the ground along with Finnick and Katniss.
Katniss is quick to crawl to her knees as you follow suit.
“Peeta?”
Your heart aches as the weakness in her voice laces around every syllable of his name.
She cares for the boy, more than she lets on.
She gently caresses Peeta’s face as you watch from a small distance behind her - she needs to check over him herself, to make sure he’s okay-
“He’s not breathing! He’s not breathing!”
You push Finnick towards the two of them, and Finnick harshly pushes Katniss out of the way so he can attempt to save Peeta. It’s a standard medical procedure that all District 4 families know by heart, but you place a reassuring hand on Katniss’ shoulder after she tries to pull an arrow on Finnick.
You know that words won’t do anything to comfort Katniss, and she rushes to Peeta’s side as you’re forced to be an uncomfortable spectator.
“Peeta, Peeta-“
You place a hand over your mouth as tears start to form in your eyes.
Come on, Peeta…
“Come on, come on!”
Finnick matches your worries as he continues compressions on Peeta.
“Please wake up.”
Katniss’ voice cracks which cracks the dam in your eyes as you begin to cry.
Katniss loves Peeta like I love-
You do your best to wipe the tears from your eyes as you imagine how the Capitol is enjoying the show. They’re watching three fierce competitors do their best to bring back another victor - a first in the history of the Hunger Games, you’re sure. You’re not even doing much but displaying your heart on your sleeve, and that’s enough for you to do. People stay attached and are sympathetic, and you can only hope that it’ll continue after you commit the worst crime, betraying the Capitol, after you get Katniss and Peeta out of here.
Peeta takes a deep breath, and you deeply sigh in relief as Finnick backs off to let Katniss and Peeta have a moment.
Once Finnick stands up, you pull him into a comforting hug, but you’re not sure if the hug is more for you or for him.
“I can’t-“
“I know.” He places a gentle hand on your back as you watch Katniss and Peeta interact.
“Do you wanna stand up?”
“Yeah.”
Once Peeta stands up, Katniss pulls Peeta into a hug as you let go of Finnick. You notice that Finnick’s hand doesn’t move as your heart pounds - this isn’t the moment nor is it your moment - as his eyes never leave Katniss and Peeta.
He knows, and I know.
~
Katniss throws a rock at the forcefield as a small group of sparks come from the collision. Peeta follows behind Katniss, and you follow behind Peeta as Finnick brings up the rear.
The next rock she throws reproduces similar results, but you notice that Finnick places a protective hand on your shoulder. You make your way through the jungle floor as Katniss throws another rock at the forcefield.
“Hold on.” She says before moving further ahead of the group. She climbs the largest tree she can find, and the three of you wait in silence before she comes back down.
“The forcefield is a dome,” Katniss reports after coming back down, “so we’re at the edge of the arena. I couldn’t find any signs of fresh water.”
Your throat dries up further at the mention of water. None of you will last long in this heat without any sort of hydration.
“It’s gonna get dark soon, we’ll be safe with our backs protected. We should set up camp - take turns sleeping.” Finnick sits next to you while looking directly at Katniss. “I’ll take first watch.”
Katniss scoffs before replying.
“Not a chance.”
Finnick gives her a disapproving look before grabbing his trident and standing up.
“Honey, that thing I did back there for Peeta? That was called saving his life. If I wanted to kill either of you, I would’ve done it by now.”
Finnick sticks his trident in the ground as Katniss continues to have a glare-off with him. Eventually, Finnick takes his trident and offers you a hand up. You quietly take it before shooting Peeta and Katniss an apologetic look - not your first, but certainly not your last.
“Why don’t you get some rest? I’ll take first watch.” Katniss instructs Peeta mores then telling him, but he reluctantly stands up.
“Just for a little bit.”
She nods as he moves to sit farther away from you and Finnick, but closer to Katniss.
He doesn’t trust us because she doesn’t.
You squeeze Finnick’s hand as you sit a few feet from the forcefield.
“Let me talk to her tonight. I have a way of charming people.”
“She’s tough to crack-“
“I did it before, in the practice room,” You say with determination while looking at him, “and I know I can do it again.”
He doesn’t answer, but he squeezes your hand in reassurance.
That’s good enough for me.
~
Peeta lays peacefully asleep as you sit on a nearby rock by Katniss and Finnick.
“How’s Peeta?” He softly asks.
“Is he well?” You add on while trying to break the palpable tension between you three.
Not three, but if they’re going to argue, then all of us will suffer.
“He’s okay, I think, just…” She trails off for a moment, “dehydrated, like the rest of us.”
Familiar music draws your attention to the skies as today’s victors-turned-victims display on the forcefield. There’s familiar faces, ones that you had come to befriend and love… it’s enough to drive you to tears. As the display continues, Finnick places a hand on your shoulder for comfort.
It’s not enough, but it’ll do.
Peeta awakens too, and the four of you sit in contemplative silence as the display finally comes to a close.
“Eight.” Katniss says as you wave off tears.
“I’m fine, Finnick,” You gently brush his hand off your shoulder as you look up to the sky again, “but look at the sky!”
A small canister attached to a parachute floats down and lands a few feet from Katniss, and she’s quick to gather the canister. She opens the canister with easy, which contains a note plus something else you can’t quite see.
“Drink up?”
“What is it?” Finnick asks as you approach Katniss behind him.
“It’s from Haymitch,” Katniss picks the item out of the canister, “I think it’s a spiel.”
Katniss rushes past Finnick to pound the spiel into a nearby tree with a rock. Peeta rushes to Katniss’ side as the four of you watch and eventually see the spiel product water.
Haymitch did his part, which means that I have to do mine.
~
“I counted twelve.” Katniss notes as you look up to the sky.
“It’s midnight-” Finnick tries to add.
“-Or the number of districts.” Katniss challenges as you shake your head.
They can never agree on the simple things, huh?
A series of lightning strikes on a large tree in the distance draws your attention.
“Well, if you two aren’t going to sleep,” Finnick says as you nod in confirmation, “then I will.”
“Alright.” Katniss says as Finnick gets up from his post.
“Goodnight, Finnick.”
“Goodnight, Sunny,” Finnick looks back and offers you a warm smile, “make sure to get some rest.”
“I will.”
He silently walks away as you turn your attention to Katniss.
“I’m sorry about Finnick, he can be-“
“Why did you try to save Peeta earlier? You don’t know him.” Katniss bluntly asks.
“Peeta is important to you, and I wanted to spare you the pain that so many others face.” You truthfully answer as Katniss studies your face with scrutiny.
“You don’t know me either-“
“-Katniss, if I knew every person I’ve ever helped, I wouldn’t be Sunny,” You tell her, “and I don’t know who I would be if I wasn’t that person. I used to think Sunny was a persona, but it’s become who I truly am.”
“Were you someone different before the games?”
“I think we all were, if that’s not obvious enough,” You glance at Peeta before returning your attention to Katniss, “but I think the Hunger Games showed me who I truly was. Wouldn’t wish this shit on anyone else, though.”
“I-“
“I think you’ll discover that we’re not so different after all, Katniss,” You say before standing up, “but I wish you a good night. I hope the night is uneventful for you.”
You walk a small distance before turning back.
“Oh, and don’t be too hard on Finnick. He’s been through a lot more than he lets on.”
“Tell him to back off first.”
You chuckle as you lay down close to Finnick, but far enough that your beating heart doesn’t threaten to blow out your eardrums.
~
“Run, run! The fog is poison!”
Katniss’ words send you from slumber to alert as you’re the first on your feet. You move down the side of the hill as Finnick and Peeta catch up to you. You let Katniss pass you as Finnick pushes you in front so he takes up the rear.
You continue to run through the forestry without a second thought as the thick fog chases you. The fog suddenly approaches from the right, and Peeta is quickly to avoid it, along with the rest of you.
As you round a corner, the fog then approaches from the left. You dodge the fog like you dodged arrows in your original Hunger Games. It was too easy, but you were concerned for Finnick since the fog was nearly kissing you.
When the four of you make it to a clearing, the fog makes a semicircle around you, and Peeta’s forced to lead the group in another direction as you aimlessly follow in the hopes that you’ll survive this.
The fog seems to increase in speed, and you scream in agony once it touches your skin. You barely avoid Katniss, who tripped in front of you, and Peeta goes back to save her. He’s burned by the fog too, and Katniss pulls him up before they follow behind you.
You continue in front of the group this time, and you hear Finnick’s shrieks from a distance, but you can’t go back for him.
As long as he’s yelling, he’s alive.
It tears your heart into shreds to hear him, to hear those kids behind you, in so much pain. You immediately turn around when you hear a body fall to the ground.
“Peeta!” Katniss sticks next to him like a loyal dog as you watch from a safe distance. Finnick approaches the two of them, and he doesn’t hesitate to help Katniss by wrapping one of Peeta’s arms around his shoulder. As Katniss wraps the other arm around his shoulder, Finnick motions you to continue forward.
You run forward, safe from most harm, as the other members of your group continue to bear most of the brunt from the fog. A sharp hill awaits you, but you quickly navigate it as Katniss, Finnick, and Peeta fall, quite literally, behind you.
You cry in pain as you touch the back of your neck. You spot a nearby pool of water as the trio behind you makes a rough landing.
You watch in horror as the fog approaches, but it’s stopped by an invisible wall that barely prevents any injury to the rest of you. Your attention snaps back to the water - your neck really fucking hurts - as you approach the water. When you submerge yourself in the water, you sigh in relief as the stinging pain caused by the water rids you of your injury.
Once you’ve cleaned yourself up, you pull Katniss, the only person who seems to be awake, towards the water. With her determination and your strength, you get her to the edge of the water. You gently place one of her hands in the water, and she screams before the poison is released from her hand.
“The water- the water helped-“ Her strangled cry is heard by Peeta, who starts to pull himself towards the water as well.
You immediately move to Finnick’s side as you deliberately and slowly start to move him towards the water. Once Katniss and Peeta are mostly finished, they help you push Finnick fully into the water. He screams in agony as the three of you pour water over his body.
“Finnick-“
Emotions threaten to pour from your eyes and your mouth, but the sometimes-stoic Katniss composes herself before you can truly express how scared you are to lose Finnick.
“We need our weapons.”
Peeta and Katniss move to gather the weapons as you stay, dedicated, by Finnick’s side.
“C’mon, you need to get up. Who else is going to argue with Katniss over the simplest things?”
Finnick grumbles for a second before softly laughing.
At least I’ve made this shitty situation better for someone.
~
As Peeta gathers water from a nearby tree, you sit and pour water all over yourself in order to keep cool and clean any remaining toxins off of your skin. Finnick and Katniss do the same, but you give them space to talk things out with their words… instead of their fists.
They both mutter apologies to one another before Finnick pauses to stare blankly ahead. Your eyes catch sight of what he’s looking so intently at.
Mutts.
A gentle nod to Katniss alerts her of the situation as well, and she stands along with Finnick. You slowly try to back away before noticing that some are approaching from behind. You immediately backpedal next to Finnick and Katniss as they’re the only ones with proper weapons.
Where’s Peeta?
“Peeta.”
“Yeah?” Peeta looks up from the spiel towards Katniss.
“Back away from the tree, slowly.”
A growling mutt a few inches from his face causes Peeta to slowly back up towards the three of you. Once you’re all in the water, the mutts growl and slowly close in as your heart pounds.
What am I supposed to do with no weapon?
“Get to the beach.” Katniss tries to move towards the newly sighted Cornucopia, but two mutts block your last escape route.
Katniss pulls her bow back as the mutts continue to advance on you. A mutt makes the first leap towards you and Katniss, but Peeta quickly strikes it down with his machete. They all growl angrily before one lunges towards Katniss from the opposite side. She quickly shoots it down with an arrow before killing another when it’s barely tried to leap at her.
Peeta swipes at a mutt that approaches you before gently pushing you behind him.
“I owe you one for earlier.” Peeta recalls the fight at the Cornucopia, and you nod before centering yourself between Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick.
Finnick strikes a mutt down with his trident before smacking another back. Peeta continues to aimlessly swipe at a few mutts to keep them away, and you duck as Katniss shoots one over his shoulder. A mutt then jumps on Peeta and tries to sink its teeth into him, but he guts it with a blade through the stomach.
Katniss and Finnick work in harmony to push the mutts back before she successfully hits three mutts with her arrows and stabs the fourth with her bow. Peeta pulls his knife from the mutt before you help him up. The onslaught continues for a few moments which spreads seconds into eternal moments. You feel useless, but keeping yourself out of harm’s way is the best way you can help everyone.
A mutt tackles Katniss into the water, but Peeta quickly kills it and helps Katniss up.
“Come on, we got to get to the beach!”
Peeta leads the way as you follow behind Katniss. You turn back to assure that Finnick is still there - you’re worrying about him when he has a weapon, he’ll be fine, Sunny - as you try to navigate your way to the beach.
A mutt jumps on Katniss and Peeta which knocks them further away. A separate mutt eyes you before jumping, and you attempt to send a punch its way. It takes a bite on your outstretched arm as you cry out in pain. You manage to wrestle your arm out of its grasp before Finnick spears it with his trident.
“How bad is-“
A few small incisions line your dominant arm, and they sting like hell, but you can’t focus on that now.
“I’ll live.”
Finnick grabs your non-damaged hand as he spears another mutt that dares to approach him. He then lets go of your hand to kill a mutt that jumps on Katniss, but once she’s back on her feet, his hand finds yours again.
You gasp as you notice someone in camouflage with large bite marks covering their neck.
“Who is it?”
“It’s a Morphling,” Peeta explains to Katniss, “C’mon, help me get her.”
They grab the dying Morphling before dragging her to the beach. More mutts approach as Finnick lets go of your hand and pushes you ahead.
“I’ve got this - just watch them.”
You nod before turning to follow Katniss and Peeta. Despite your painful arm injury, you run through the forest just as you did before. Pain was an adrenaline booster for you, and it was a scratch compared to the injuries you got from messing around on rock cliffs and beaches back in District 4.
You make it to the beach as Katniss and Peeta bring the girl into the water. Finnick tumbles in behind you before quickly recovering and pushing the remaining mutts back. Once he realizes that the mutts aren’t going to follow him, his eyes meet yours.
“You arm-“
“Look,” You point at the sky as another canister falls from the sky towards you, “I told you I’d live. I might not be the capitol darling, but they can’t let go of their little sister that easily.”
Finnick reaches the canister before you do, and he opens it to quickly to dig out the gauze and skin-applicable pain medicine.
“I suppose they wouldn’t mind seeing the Capitol darling tend to their little sister, then?” Finnick’s lips quirk into a teasing smile as you sit on the beach and admire the sky.
“Well, I wouldn’t mind.”
“Then that’s the only opinion that matters.” He sits next to you, and you present your arm to him. “You’re tougher than you act, honey.”
“I thought you knew that already,” You look away for a moment to hide your embarrassment, “after all, I did learn from an amazing mentor.”
The medicine feels cold once it touches your skin, and you sigh in relief as the pain starts to fade away.
“Did anyone leave a note?” You ask as Finnick looks away for a moment. “Oh, so I’m the one who has an admirer, and you get-“
You yelp when Finnick starts to harshly apply the medicine.
“-Jealous much?” You roll your eyes as Finnick laughs.
“Is it bad that I want your eyes on me and me alone?”
You’re left speechless as you bite your lip nervously. The invisible tension, the string that draws you two together, is finally pulled to its breaking point as you realize how close Finnick truly is.
“It-“ You pause for a moment as your sunshine threatens to slip and reveal some deeper emotion in your heart, the one that you named before this fresh hell started. “It depends on what you’re going to do about it.”
Finnick sets down the medicine to grab the gauze, and once Finnick returns close to you, you push yourself on top of him to give him a kiss to release the emotions buried deep in your heart.
The sunshine clouds over as a storm brews, but you’re not scared of the damage that this thunderstorm will cause your mind. You’d accept once the outcome that you weren’t the one for him, that the signs were wrong and all in your head, and that-
Finnick kisses you back.
Oh shit.
Finnick kisses you. In the 75th Hunger Games. On TV. In front of thousands of his admirers.
Oh shit!
You pull away and place a hand over your mouth as you contemplate the absolute shitstorm you’ve just released on the both of you.
“You’re not a bad kisser, if that’s what you’re embarrassed about-“
“Finnick!” You squeak before smacking his arm.
“There’s only room for two people who can’t admit that they love each,” He nods at Katniss and Peeta in the distance, “and that image doesn’t quite fit either of us.”
“What are we, then?”
“Whatever you want to be.”

I have become absolutely OBSESSED with your Cowboy!141 fics! And I just have to ask... pretty pleaseeee could you write about how goose met Soap? I gotta know if Soap was equally as surprised to find out the cap had a daughter! anywaayyyys, I love your fics! And I hope you know your amazing!!! <3333
Goose and Soap met years ago! They met after Soap’s punching an officer fiasco, Price offered him a place to stay while the whole thing blew over. This is where I tell y’all that Price and Duck got married quick and young, typical military move, and Price tended to keep his family life to himself while he was working. So Soap didn’t realize he was going to be dealing with a high schooler when he agreed to spend a few weeks laying low, but they were thick as thieves almost immediately(much to Duck's chagrin).
Two things happen when Soap steps through customs. First: he realizes how fucking hot the American south is in the middle of July. Second: he is immediately accosted by two women he’s never met before. Or one woman and one teenager who looks rather embarrassed by her mum’s antics.
“Sergeant MacTavish, right?” The woman asks, and he nods to be polite. He was told he’d be getting picked up from the airport but this was downright familial.
“You can call me Soap, ma’am.”
“Why’d they call you Soap?” The teen makes a face.
“Goose, that’s enough.” Her mum tells her, in the same voice Soap used to get from his mum when he was being rude to strangers.
“Why’d they call you Goose?” He asks, scrunching his face up the same way, and watching the teen smile.
-
Soap is almost cool. He’s what you think having an older brother must be like. Plus you’re learning a lot of neat swears. He crouches next to you, twisting gas covered strings together to link the fireworks your mom bought.
“Yer aff yer heid,” You tell him, “Mam’s gonna kill you if you blow up the barn again.”
“Ah dinnae blow up the barn,” Soap hauls you to your feet and tugs you away from the mess, “Ah burned it.” He thinks a moment then moves you back another few paces. “Don’t move.”
“Aye that’s an idea I ‘adn’t thought of.” You tell him, taking an extra step back from the mound of danger.
“Why’d I let you help with this?” Soap asks, going to light the first fuse.
“Because I caught you nipping scotch from Momma’s reserve.”
“Bloody American drinking age.” He grumbles, clicking his lighter on and narrowly avoiding setting the whole kit ablaze.
Your mom calls the fire department about half way through your show and you both get a talking to from the fire chief. Soap only looks sorry he was stopped.
-
“Soap.”
“Go’way Goose,” He grumbles, turning away from you and tugging his blankets up over his head.
“Come on,” You whine, “you said we’d go shooting today, and it’s almost noon.” Soap grumbles further, a hand reaching out from under the blankets to smack around and check his phone.
“You keep yellin’ at me an’ am gonnae be cross,” He groans, tossing his phone and sitting up. He stares at you for a long moment, eyes narrowed and shoulders hunched.
“Howzitgoan,” You ask.
“Am fuckin’ trollied.”
“Don’t drink so late, now get your kecks on.” Soap smacks you with his pillow until you leave the room laughing.
-
“That your boyfriend?” Soap asks as you hop in the cab of the family truck. You make a face and click your seat belt on.
“Gross no, he’s just some ROTC dick’ead.”
“Enlistedmen more your type eh?” He jokes throwing the truck into gear and peeling away from the movie theater. You roll your eyes.
“With how often my Da’s off getting shot at? I’d rather shoot myself than be a military wife.”

The lowkey kickback she was promised is anything but that. Cars line the already crowded and narrow street while people mill around and stream out of the towering house. Music blasts throughout the house and onto the street, no doubt upsetting neighbors and warranting noise complaints; however the party goers and the homeowner don’t seem to care. Their uber pulls up to the address and practically dumps them and speeds off, probably wanting to avoid any kind of problem that the party might bring.
Jessica wraps her thin black cardigan around her body, “Let’s go inside. It’s too damn cold out here.”
Sunny rolls her eyes, following the girl up the steps, “I imagine wearing a bra for a shirt would be very cold.”
“Oh shut up. I look hot even if I am freezing to death.”
Her short brown skirt hikes as she climbs the stairs to the point that Sunny has to reach out and tug it down from behind. Her goal is to entice one man and one man only, however he has yet to be seen as they push past drunk and high people. A familiar blonde spots them as they make their way towards the kitchen.
“Jessica you came!” Yelena shouts over the loud music and people’s conversations, a smile plastered across her face, “And you brought a friend.”
“Yelena this is Sunny,” Jessica beams, pointing between the two women,” Sunny is this Yelena, the friend that’s throwing this party.”
Sunny extends out her hand to shake Yelena’s but she’s pulled into a tight hug with Yelena whispering in her ear, “Jessica’s situationship is here but he brought another girl just FYI.”
“Shit,” she pulls back and offers Jessica a fake smile who is staring off past them. Sunny follows her stare and spots the very thing she’d hoped to avoid until later; the man in question making out with another girl.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me!” she shrieks, marching towards them. Neither of them are fast enough to catch the angry brunette who practically rips the woman off of him.
“Seriously? You go on and on about loyalty and then you fucking show up with another girl? What the fuck are you on because you’re clearly not thinking right,” screaming at the couple, Jessica’s beyond pissed as she stares daggers at them.
“Jessica, oh hey I didn’t know you were going to be here,” the man tries to play off the situation, running a hand casually through his hair to hide the evidence.
“Bull fucking shit, I was the one who invited you and you have the audacity to show up with some other girl? Where do you get off?”
“Babe it’s not that serious, I swear,” the lies slip so easily through his teeth, “You know you’re the only girl for me.”
As he speaks, what looks like a fang flashes ever so slightly but disappears when he shifts his gaze to Yelena and Sunny behind her. He tries to grab her hands to calm her down but she’s quick to step back from him, “I might not be the smartest but I’m definitely not that fucking stupid that I’d actually believe anything you said. Get fucked Peter Parker.”
Yelena stifles a laugh with a cough and leans over to Sunny, “How much you wanna bet he’s going to follow her around all night?”
“I’ll do ya one better; she’s going to punch him.”
“Deal,” she shakes Sunny’s hand as Jessica storms over to them with a rather pissed off Peter in tow.
“Jessica  just stop,” his demeanor has shifted to a much darker one, “You know that we aren’t exclusive so you can’t get mad if I date other people. You’re still my number one girl.”
“Oh I’m sorry I don’t think I remember having that conversation. That must have been another one of your girlfriends. Just leave me alone Peter. I don’t want anything to do with you.”
His hand darts out and grips her wrist harshly as a cloud of anger takes over his already inky eyes, “That’s enough. Come on, don’t be like that.”
“Hold up, take your hands off of her and take a step back Parker,” Yelena demands in a stern tone as she steps up to Jessica’s side, “She said she didn’t want anything to do with you so back off.”
“Stay out of this Yelena, this has nothing to do with you.”
“It does when you’re at my party, let her go or I’ll make you,” she warns.
“And what are you going to do?”
“It’s not her you should be worried about,” the honey voice calls over the noise and tenses every fiber in Sunny’s body. She doesn’t dare to turn around or even move to confirm if it’s him. The almost spicy smell of his leathery sandalwood cologne is enough to confirm that Bucky is coming up beside her.
“Let her go and you won’t lose your hand,” his voice is level and calm even though there is chaos descending around them. His brown leather jacket clad arm brushes against hers, sending shocks through her knit long sleeve dress.
Peter dramatically drops her wrist, making a scene of the action and his frustration as every disgruntled frat boy would. He mumbles something under his breath about how fucking ridiculous this all is but doesn’t dare repeat it when Bucky gives him a warning side eye. Jessica curls into Sunny’s side while Bucky and Yelena create a protective wall between her and Peter. When he’s satisfied with the distance between them, Bucky turns to look at them, “Jessica, right? Are you okay?”
She nods quickly, not really wanting to speak.
“It’s good to see you, Doll. How are you?” The sudden shift confuses the shit out of her.
“What are you doing here?”
Yelena takes her cue to leave and nods at Bucky as she takes Jessica from her arms, leading her away from the couple and to a calmer place. He laughs at Sunny’s question, “This is my house.”
“Excuse me?” “Well one of my houses. Yelena crashes here from time to time and uses it to throw parties when she’s in town,” He explains, blue eyes glistening in the LED lights as he stares down at her.
“And you’re okay with her trashing your house whenever she wants?” She asks while she stumbles forward from the force of someone accidentally shoving her from behind.
Bucky is quick to catch her, hands steadying her by her shoulders, “Easy there tiger. Can’t have you falling for me just yet.”
She scoffs lightly and shakes his hands off, “I was pushed.”
“By destiny into my arms.”
“No by a drunk asshole into another asshole.”
Once again he lets out another damn addicting laugh, slinging an arm over her shoulder and leads her away from the crowd. The weight of his arm is nice, comforting even as they weave their way through people to the backyard. Maybe it’s how amazing his cologne smells or how she can feel the cold of his body through the thin white t-shirt he’s wearing under his jacket. The edible she took before they left Jessica’s apartment definitely plays a part in how she leans into his embrace and doesn’t immediately pull away when they step out into the cold nighttime air.
“Do you have an answer?” The question pulls her away from her thoughts. Clearing her throat, she steps out from under his arm and wraps her own around her, mulling over what he asked her.
“Answer to what?”
“I asked if I could make it up to you with dinner after Scott was rude. You never gave me an answer.”
“Oh,” she looks down to her scoffed docs for a few moments before making eye contact with him, “No.”
“No?”
“Yeah, no I won’t go to dinner with you,” she revels in the way confusion eats away at his beautiful features.
“Fair enough. How about I pay for dinner for you and Jessica?” a soft smirk dismisses the confusion and she has to look away before heat flushes her face.
“No.”
“Catering for lunch one day?”
“No.”
“Coffee every morning for a month?” “Jesus no.”
“Flowers?” He tries one last time even though he knows she’s just going to shoot it down. The way she’s struggling under his gaze is worth more than any material thing to him; he’s getting under her skin in the most delicious way possible.
“Why do you have to make it up? Just leave it, that’s what other people do.”
“Well I’m not like other people. Manners aren’t dead and it’s only fair I reconcile with the beautiful woman who didn’t call the police on us when she should have.”
The view of her docs is no longer interesting and the city lights are too bright to see the stars so her only option is to look at him with that flirtatious smirk and smooth words. Her head body starts to feel weightless as the THC comes into full force and it’s a struggle to form sentences that aren’t littered with giggles, “You think I’m beautiful? Oh… shit that’s not what I meant to say. What I meant is just leave it alone. It wasn’t that big of a deal.”
His superstar Adidas barely make any noise against the stone pavers as he slowly saunters towards her.
“I think you did mean that first part,” his right hand finds her chin and tilts it so she’s eye to eye with him, “And to answer your question, I do think you’re beautiful. You are, by far, the most stunning woman I have ever met and I would love the chance to get to know you better if you’d stop being so obstinate.”
Maybe it’s the THC or the tornado his touch has thrown her mind into but she swears she can’t feel any heat coming from him as he gently grips her chin.
“Maybe learn to take no for an answer,” her eyes flicker down to his lips briefly, “Besides it’s unprofessional.”
“We’re two consenting adults,” he leans even closer, his nose brushing against hers as he speaks, “It’s only unprofessional if you let it distract you.”
“Hey Sunny… Oh fuck,” Yelena shrinks back into the house when she spots the two of them wrapped up in their own bubble of sexual tension. Bucky chuckles with mild annoyance at being interrupted but steps back and gives her space to breathe again all the same.
Embarrassment fills Sunny’s body as she rubs her arms to regain control of her breathing again,“What’s up Yelena?”
“Uh Jess wants to leave. She’s a mess about the whole Peter thing.”
“Yeah, okay let her know we can leave. Can you have her call an uber?” she attempts to brush past Bucky but his arm pulls her into his side just like before.
“Don’t be silly, I’ll drive you guys home.”
“We can take an uber, it’s not a big deal.”
“Doll let me take care of you,” the not so subtle meaning freezes any protests and he smirks at her before heading back into the den of sweat and alcohol to find the damsel in distress. Sounds of sobbing and sniffing come from the kitchen, letting them know she’s been hiding out there.
“Oh Sunny,” she launches herself at Sunny, tears having ruined her makeup, “I feel so fucking stupid, oh my god.”
“Come on, let’s get you girls home,” Bucky mumms as he lets go of Sunny to pull her under his arm. Still being a gentleman, he offers his other arm to Sunny so she doesn’t get lost and she does take it even though she’ll try to deny it later on. He won’t let her live down how tightly she’s gripping his arm or how she follows after him like a puppy as they zigzag their way to the front door. Yelena isn’t in tow, saying something about having to make sure the party doesn’t end up a complete failure and slipping her number into Sunny’s hand. The action goes unnoticed by Bucky as he’s too focused on Jessica and keeping her shielded from other party goers.
Slowly climbing down the stairs, he digs into his jean pocket to find his keys. A blacked out Mercedes AMG G63 a little ways down the crowded street lights up when he pushes the fob. A part of her is impressed with his choice in car but the other part is more concerned about why he would leave such a nice car out in the open where it could easily get broken into or stolen. Then again with what she knows about him and his work, he has more than enough money to replace it if anything were to happen to it.
Jessica immediately clamors into the front seat, leaving Sunny to navigate her own way into the backseat. He opens the door for both women but abandons Jessica to gently lift Sunny into the vehicle. “I can do it myself,” she protests, trying to swat at his hands on her hips.
“I’m sure you could sober,” he teases her as he clips the seat belt over her and closes the door.
“Dick,” she mumbles under her breath, crossing her arms over her chest.
“What was that?” his blue eyes glitter with mischief in the rear view mirror as he pulls away from the curb.
“I said you’re a dick.”
“Be nice to him! He’s being such a gentleman and taking us home,” Jessica interjects, placing her hand on his arm in a very flirtatious way. Of course she decides now is the time to try her hand at flirting with the hottest man alive according to the teachers at their work.
Knowing exactly what she’s doing, he removes her hand and puts it back on her lap, “Sunny means no harm but I appreciate you standing up for me.”
The rejection doesn’t sit super well with Jessica, the hurt from earlier still lingering and she starts to complain about Peter all over again. She throws in unnecessarily details about the pictures she sent him, the sets she bought for him, and all of the things he wanted to try. At some point, Sunny completely dozes off and leaves Bucky to fend for himself as he grows increasingly more uncomfortable with the amount of information she’s rattling off.
She jolts awake when the car parks and she rubs at her eyes when she notices that they’re parked in the garage of Jessica’s apartment complex. Jessica is still rambling on about Peter as she had been for the last twenty minutes or so and she can tell by the bored look on Bucky’s face he mentally checked out at about the same time. He throws out the occasional hum and ‘yeah’ while he helps Sunny out of the car and into the elevator that leads up to the apartments.
She’s still complaining about how Peter could never make her finish while she unlocks her apartment door and lets him set Sunny down on the couch. She waltzes off to her room, leaving a very high Sunny smiling like an idiot at Bucky.
“Where’s your phone?” he asks, taking a seat on the coffee table in front of the couch.
Sunny hands him her purse, mumbling incoherently about how it’s inside.
Shaking his head at her state, he digs out her phone and has her unlock it. She tries to watch him through her lashes to see what he’s doing.
“I put my number in so if you need anything, call me,” he answers her unasked question and hands her back her phone, “I’ll be there as soon as I can, okay Doll?”
She blankly stares at him, not quite catching onto the fact that he asked her a question. Albeit delayed, she nods in understanding, earning herself a reward in the form of his laughter and a feather light kiss to her hairline.
“I’m leaving Jessica. Lock your doors please,” he yells to the other woman and winks at Sunny before closing the door behind himself.
“Girl please tell me that you’re going to lock that man down. He’s so into you, it’s so obvious.”
“What?” Sunny drops her head back against the couch to lazily look at Jessica.
“Are you serious? He wanted nothing to do with me and I was flirting hard. He only has eyes for you.”
“No, no, no,” she waves hand to dismiss the imaginary image of them together, “He’s just a flirt, he acts like that with everyone.”
Jessica locks her door as he had asked and spins to face her very clearly out of it friend, “Sunny, be so fucking for real right now. I bet if you called him right now, he would be knocking on the door in seconds.”
“Yeah because he’s still in the building. Jess I really don’t want to debate whether or not he’s into me. I’d rather go to sleep and argue with you tomorrow.”
“Fine,” she raises her hands in defeat, “If you don’t call him or at least text him tomorrow to say thank you, I will steal your phone and do it for you.”
“Fine, whatever,” Sunny drags herself off of the couch and slowly walks to Jessica’s bedroom meanwhile the other woman is getting water for them to drink in the morning. They’ll no doubt have cotton mouth or a hangover or maybe both when they wake up. Sunny barely gets her boots off before sleep takes over and she passes out on the covers still fully clothed. Jessica chuckles to herself and gets ready for bed before trying her hardest to get Sunny under the covers.
“Night bitch.”
Tumblr media
Sunday mornings with the girls consisted of waffles, fruit, and an endless supply of champagne or weed, it really depended on their mood. Given how shitty last night had been, it seemed like champagne would be the chosen remedy for Jessica’s broken heart and a joint would be the preventive medicine for Sunny’s ears. The sweet smell of sugar and syrup mixed with the earthy smell from her joint coated the air of Jessica's apartment, suffocating the smell of the burning waffles that she’d forgotten about during her endless rant about Peter.
“I seriously can’t believe that he would do that to me,” she sighed, staring absently at the kitchen floor with her drink in one hand and back to the smoking waffle iron.
Sunny gently pushed her aside by her hip to get the waffle out, “I mean….”
“I just need your ears, not your opinions,” she stops Sunny from saying anything that might upset her and continues, “I mean look at me; do I look stupid? Do I look like someone who just enjoys being fucked over? I’m getting really tired of his bullshit.”
Sunny just nods along, taking over the waffle station and filling the iron with batter. A plate full of waffles appears in front of Jessica and quickly snatches one off, taking small bites. After a few minutes of her not talking and the sounds of the iron dinging when the waffles are done, Sunny tries to speak again, “Are you done?” “Yes, obviously I’m done talking,” she sneers, chugging her half full cup and making another glass of champagne with a splash of orange juice.
“Well,” Sunny starts after taking a long drag from her joint, “he is the epitome of Chad, the worst frat boy archetype. You met him on Hinge so in the nicest possible way, what did you expect? At least with Tinder you know what you’re getting but with the other ones, it’s the damn Hunger Games and you offered yourself up as tribute pretty quickly with Peter.”
Even though she’s not looking, she can feel the daggers coming Jessica’s dark eyes but she doesn’t let up, “My advice; ghost him, block him, get so drunk you forget he exists, and find yourself someone new. He’s never going to be who you want and if you keep letting him back in, he’s going to keep treating you like a doormat and you, my goddess of a friend, deserve someone better.”
“Why can’t I just like girls like you? Men are so stupid,” she sighs more dramatically than humanly thought possible and drops her head onto Sunny’s shoulder.
“First off, that’s not how it works and second off, girls are just as bad as guys are.”
“Yeah but girls are so much prettier and they don’t stick their dicks in anything while walking.”
She chuckles, “Homegirl you clearly haven’t spent any real time around queer people. Douche bag transcends the social construct of gender. My last queer relationship ended because she tried to sleep with all of my friends while planning my proposal. Shitty people are going to do shitty things no matter what.”
“Touché,” Jessica lifts herself from Sunny’s shoulder, “Talking about your relationships, have you texted Mr. Sexy?”
Rolling her eyes, she unplugs the waffle iron and drops the batter bowl into the sink, joint still trapped between her fingers. Before she has to face the music of Jessica on a mission, she hops onto the counter and continues to smoke, “Nope.”
“Why not?” “I don’t want to?”
“I sense a question mark. You want to but your damned ego won’t let you,” Jessica declares, finger pointing at her in a very accusing manner.
“It’s not that,” Sunny leans back to snuff out her joint on an ashtray sitting on the counter behind her, “That’s not the only number I got last night.”
“Spill, right now.”
She vaguely gestures to the living room where her phone is at, “When I woke up, I had another number stuffed into my purse.”
Jessica stares at her with expecting eyes, “Who’s?” “Yelena.”
“OH MY FUCKING GOD! YELENA?” Jessica’s loud and very drunk voice bounces off the walls and bounces in their ears.
“Jesus quit screaming,” Sunny covers her ears and chides her friend. “You have to text her and Mr. Sexy.”
“What? No, I'm not doing that.”
“You kinda have to. You need to thank him and you need to flirt it up with Yelena. If you’re lucky, you might find yourself in both of their beds,” Jessica calls as she rushes to grab Sunny’s phone.
“Oh for the love of god,” she curses, sliding off the counter to catch her friend before she does anything stupid.
However she is too late; Jessica already has her phone unlocked and is rapidly typing away at the screen. There’s no use in trying to stop her, she’s surprisingly strong and fast when she’s drinking. On more than one occasion, Sunny has had to put an air tag on her or physically tie them together when they go out because Jessica will bolt the moment tequila touches her tongue.
“Hey there Stranger, thank you for being such a gentleman last night. Chivalry isn’t dead it seems,” the tipsy woman narrates as she types away Sunny’s soul to the devil.
“I don’t sound or text like that.”
“I know. You’re so boring and weird. You call people when they text you. That’s the move of a psychopath,” she pauses her betrayal to tease Sunny, “‘It's too bad I had to leave, we didn't have time to make out’ and send.”
“Oh my god,” Sunny laughs in half disbelief and annoyance. Of course Jessica would pick the most out of pocket shit to flirt with Yelena on her behalf.
“I’ll have my assistant send over my invoice when you and yelena go out,” she blows a fake kiss and plops down on the couch, Sunny not far behind.
“Can I have my phone back?”
“Hmmm let me think….. No I’ll be sending your texts for today, ya know to keep the balls rolling,” she retorts.
The phone in her hand vibrates awake, alerting them that someone has responded to Jessica’s devious messages.
“And we have our first answer,” she reads the message to herself before a wide grin stretches across her face, “To tell you or to not tell you, now that is the question.”
“For the love of god just tell me, what did they say?”
“It really is a shame we didn’t get to make out, dinner friday and we can try again?” Jessica reads out but her grin drops just as quickly as it appeared.
“What? What is that look for?” Sunny sits up from her slouched position on the couch.
Jessica laughs nervously, “Okay so don’t be mad. Be so chill about this.”
“What did you do?”
“I may or may not have accidentally switched the texts around.”
Hands slapping against her face, Sunny drags them down in disbelief as she falls back against the couch, “Please tell you’re fucking joking.”
Jessica smacks her lips and shrugs, “Well on the bright side, you now have a date with Bucky so there’s that.”
“Did you text back yes?”
“Obvi,” Jessica starts typing away again, completely ignoring the girl to her side who is going through an emotional crisis over this, “So now you’ll have two dates and a better chance at getting laid.”
The groan that leaves Sunny is unnatural, bordering the sounds that a demon would make but alas there is no demon and it’s just the deep anguish that she’s feeling reaching the surface. Her joint from earlier is doing little to ease her misery and the giggles that leave Jessica’s mouth are fuel to the fire. She has no idea what her friend is saying and whether or not it’s going to get her into trouble come Friday. Knowing Jessica, she’s flirting which only means that Sunny is going to have a lovely time the next time she sees Bucky.
“Could you not flirt with him? I really don’t want to keep it going when I go home.” “Oh my god get over yourself. I’m helping you here, you’re terrible at flirting.”
“Whatever,” she mumbles, reaching for the TV remote to turn on some stupid show to distract her. If she can’t control what Jessica is doing, she can at least control what show they’re watching.

~
Music was pounding through the sound system, bouncing off every body that was present on the dance floor. It wasn’t particularly good, but you were certain that you could get drunk enough to enjoy it. You’d only been inside the bar for a moment, but somehow your friends had already disappeared into the crowd, leaving no indication on where they could’ve went. You paid no mind to it, knowing they would show up sooner rather than later. You pushed your way through the crowd to get to the bar, earning some strange looks. When you landed in front of the wooden countertop, you were a bit out of breath and eager to start drinking. The familiar bartender looked to you, giving you a smile.
“Hey, Mike.” You greeted.
“Was wondering when I’d see your face back here.” He pulled a glass from under the counter.
“Roommates finally let me out of house arrest. Did enough chores to make up for the last time we were here.” You joked. He let out a chuckle, shaking his head at you.
“You’re gonna get yourself hurt fighting like that.” He scolded. The last time you’d been at the bar, you’d gotten in a physical altercation with a frat boy who’d been bothering a girl. You’d never been scared to throw a punch or speak up. Growing up with four brothers really taught you a thing or two about how to fight. Your quick temper seemed to get you into trouble, but thankfully this particular bar staff knew you only got physical if deserved. They didn’t care, because they didn’t want people like that in their bar any more than you did.
“No faith in me, Mikey?” You asked. He slid a drink towards you. You picked it up, taking a sip. “Jack and coke?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Had to go with your second favourite, apparently that fireball gets you feisty.” He grinned.
“I don’t think it was the fireball, baby.” You confided. “I was actually applying for the bouncer position, anyway. You guys don’t seem to want to hire me; figured I just needed to show off my skills.”
“If you were the bouncer, I don’t think anybody would get through the front doors.” He chuckled. “Plus, if we had to pay you to be here, we’d lose out on all our profit.” You laughed as you pulled a twenty out of your purse. As you handed it over to him, he waved you off. “First ones on us, we missed you.” You shoved it back in your purse, pulling out a ten instead.
“Fine, here’s a tip, I missed you too.” You left it on the counter, grabbing your glass. “Oh, and put some better music on. I don’t want my favourite dive bar turning into a club.” He let out another laugh, throwing his head back as he did so.
“Will do, spitfire.” He moved on to the next customer as you turned around, losing yourself in the crowd. The boy on the stool next to you stared at the spot you’d been standing moments before, turning his head to watch you weave into the mess of bodies. He turned back to the bartender, who was making his way over to him. “Refill?” He asked the boy, nodding towards his empty glass.
“Yeah,” he cleared his throat. Mike pulled down a bottle of whiskey from the display, filling a glass with ice and pouring the liquor atop it. “What’s that girls name?” He asked. Mike looked up at him, furrowing his eyebrows slightly.
“The one who was just there?” He nodded his head towards the empty spot beside the boy. He gave a nod. “Y/n,” he answered “but if you think you’re interested, tread carefully, man. She’s something else.” The bartender smirked.
“You seem to know her pretty well. Could you put in a good word for me?”
“What’s your name, kid?” Mike questioned, placing his drink in front of him and taking his used glass away.
“Jake,” he introduced himself, reaching a hand across the bar. “And you’re Mike?”
“Yeah, that’s me. I own the place.” He smiled. “I’ll try my best to send her your way, but no promises. I’ve known her for a long time. She’s a force to be reckoned with. She does whatever she wants, whenever she wants to. I’ve never been able to reason with her.”
“‘Preciate it, man. I think I can handle her.” Jake smiled. Mike let out a laugh, knowing the boy was maybe a bit too confident in himself.
“Whatever you say.”
Back on the dance floor, you’d found yourself surrounded by a group of people you’d never met before, but seemed like they knew how to have fun. You’d finished dancing with one of the girls, blowing her a kiss as you continued on your journey through the sea of drunkards. A familiar head of red hair caught your attention. You pushed past a pair of frat boys, giving a scowl as you did so. They were your least favourite type of people, and the university you’d been attending was full of them. You caught up to your friend, grabbing onto her arm before she could slip away again.
“Hi!” Eve exclaimed, smile lighting up the room. “I didn’t know where you went!”
“Had to go say hello to Mike!” You shouted back. “Where is everyone else?”
“I think Ally’s doing blow in the bathroom.” She giggled. You rolled your eyes.
“Of course she is.” You were a party animal, but even you had to admit that Ally, one of your roommates, definitely had a problem that she wasn’t willing to deal with yet.
“Ben’s probably guarding the bathroom door for her,” you nodded. Ben was Ally’s boyfriend, always making sure she was safe. You liked him; he wasn’t necessarily overbearing with her. He never stopped her from doing what she wanted, but just made sure she was protected while she was doing it. “And I think the rest of them are over playing pool.”
“And you and I are gonna dance.” You smiled, grabbing her hand and twirling her around. She let out a laugh, reciprocating the action. The two of you moved your hips in time with the music, dancing on each other and sipping at your drinks. From behind you, a wolf-whistle sounded. You straightened up, spinning around to see a guy you’d seen around campus a few times. You gave him a glare, flipping him off in the process. He rolled his eyes at you, turning to look the other way. “Asshole.” You muttered, bringing your glass to your lips and finishing the rest of the drink in one gulp. “Come on, let’s go get another.” You ushered her along. The two of you stepped down the stairs leading back to the main floor, catching sight of your third roommate. “Ally!” You shouted, waving her over. Her head whipped around, following the sound of your voice immediately. She gave you a grin as she joined you, hooking her arm through yours. “Hello, sunshine.” You greeted.
“Fancy meeting you here.” She jittered. You had to laugh.
“Let me buy you a drink, sugar.” You gave her a small yank towards the bar. You pooled into some stools, all scooting your chairs closer together. Mike made his way over to you, a towel over his shoulder. He placed his hands on the edge of the counter, leaning forward and giving a disapproving sigh.
“You troublemakers are back again?” You gave him a sweet smile. He was an attractive guy; a bit older, but very good looking for his age. He had his head shaved and tattoos littered his arms. You always played the flirting game with him, knowing you’d let him take you home under the right circumstances. Still, you enjoyed drinking there far too much to ruin it over a quick fuck.
“Couldn’t stay away from you.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. What are you having this time?”
“I’m thinking shots. What about you, ladies?” You asked. They gave a collective nod. “Six jägerbombs.” He obliged, grabbing a can of red bull and the dreaded green bottle. He poured out six, placing two in front of all of you.
“Oh, there’s a guy over there that seems particularly interested in you, too.” Mike said, nodding in the direction of a booth behind you. You raised an eyebrow, giving a smirk.
“Trying to pawn me off on some poor patron?” You asked. He shook his head.
“I’m just relaying the message, sweetheart.” You turned around, seeing a group of boys sitting together. Your eyes scanned them, taking in each one of them individually. One had long curly, dark hair and a sweet smile. He looked different than the other three, who all seemed a bit similar. There was a lankier, taller boy who sat next to the curly haired one. He had a bit of facial hair growing in and long, brown hair that barely had a wave to it. On the other side of the booth, there were two boys who looked quite similar. One had short fluffy hair, shaved down on the sides and a grin that never left his face. The boy beside him had long hair, too, but his aura looked a little darker. His smile wasn’t as wide when it crossed his face, and he looked a little stoned.
They must be twins, you thought.
They were all good looking; you wouldn’t mind taking any one of them home, but that wasn’t your intentions lately. Boys, and girls, for that matter, were not your peak interest. Too much drama, too much effort. You liked drinking and having fun. Freedom was great and you used all of your time not spent with your friends, studying. You didn’t need someone to drag you down. Still, out of curiosity, you had to ask. “Is it sunshine and rainbows, or dark and broody?” You turned around, a laugh on your lips.
“Dark and broody,” Mike chuckled. “How’d you know?”
“Come on, you know me well enough by now. I know everything.” You took the first shot, feeling the warmth flood your chest for a second. It was quickly washed away by the carbonated drink. “He is cute, though. But I’m not interested in wasting my time.” You sighed.
“Y/n, he’s gorgeous. You have to go talk to him, at least.” Ally pleaded.
“Take your shots and maybe I’ll think about it.” You brushed her off.
“He seemed to really like you, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Seemed like a nice guy.” Mike offered, throwing another drink in front of you before he stalked off to serve another group of people. You thought about it for a moment, taking another look over your shoulder at the guy. You found he was already looking at you. He gave a small smile, to which you returned.
“You know, maybe it would be good for you. You haven’t even so much as looked at anyone since the last asshole.” Eve said. You shrugged.
“For good reason.” You kept it short and sweet, not wanting to get into it now.
“Just give him a chance, y/n. You never know.” She took both of her shots back to back without a flinch in sight.
“Oh, I know,” you rolled your eyes. “All guys are the same. They just want to fuck and ruin your life, then act like it never happened.” You stood again, grabbing your drink. The two girls shuffled to their feet, following after you. You made your way to the pool tables, taking a seat on the side of one the rest of your group was playing on. Ally’s boyfriend shooed you off without any hesitation, completely used to your antics. You jumped off, now watching the game they were playing. Ben and his roommate were playing together, and they were down to the 8-ball. The tension seemed a bit high; they always contested each other in pool. It was their version of a pissing contest. You had learned not to comment on it.
The mood shifted in the air suddenly. Mike had adhered to your request, changing up the music. Overhead, the opening notes of Witchy Woman by Eagles sounded, sending a jolt of energy through you. “Thanks, Mike!” You yelled over to the bar. He looked up, giving you a wink.
From the booth the group of boys sat at, Jake looked over at you, pleasantly surprised that you’d requested the music change. You were singing the song to Eve, and she was dancing to your voice. Jake admired the way your hips moved, the life behind your eyes, and the heart you were putting into the performance. “Go talk to her, man.” Josh elbowed his brother in the side. Jake snapped out of his trance, looking over to his twin.
“Oh, no,” he shook his head. “I don’t want to bother her. She looks like she’s having fun.” In reality, he was nervous. He’d never met a girl who affected him quite like you did. Your whole aura drew him in, like you’d casted a spell on him. The way you were so openly you and not afraid to show it was enchanting, and new. Not many people were like that. He thought your song choice had been fantastic, because if he had to pick a song to describe you, it would have been that one.
“Just ask to buy her a drink; she looks friendly enough.” Sam said, now looking back over his shoulder to get a glance at you. Jake took a deep breath, nodding his head once.
“Yeah, okay.” He stood, throwing back the last of his whiskey and advancing towards you. You caught sight of him as he was approaching, finding your breath catch in your throat. He was really good looking, and even better up close. He gave you another smile when you caught his eye. You stopped dancing, trying to channel a bit of your confidence that you’d lost momentarily. “You know, if I didn’t know any better, I could almost believe they wrote this song about you.” He spoke once he got close enough to you. You gave him a smirk.
“Flattering,” you looked him up and down. He was wearing dark jeans; you couldn’t tell exactly what colour they were due to the dim light, but they looked black. He had a dark blue button up on, only the bottom few buttons fastened together. The sleeves were cuffed at his elbows. His chest was tan, the skin looked soft and was inviting you in. His neck adorned a few chains, one with a pendant hanging from it. You couldn’t get a good look at it. He had dark features: brown hair, brown eyes and dark eyebrows. He was beautiful, and definitely had a good music taste for knowing the song, but you weren’t willing to fall for it. You were certain there had to be a catch. “What brings you to my side of the bar?”
“You,” he was blunt. You hated to admit it, but you liked it. His eyes scanned your face, taking in your red lipstick in particular. He wasn’t disrespectful with his gaze, though. It never fell below your shoulders. “I couldn’t let you leave without at least introducing myself.” You gave a chuckle.
“Trust me baby, I’m not leaving any time soon. They shut the bar down when I’m ready to go.” His heart sped at the pet name. “Now, tell me what you really wanted.”
“I wanted to buy you a drink.” His confidence was non-existent, but he attempted to sound sure of himself, anyway. “A woman with a music taste like yours is certainly deserving of a beverage of her choice.” You softened your stare, easing up on him a bit.
“I guess that depends on what drink you had in mind.”
“You don’t strike me as a bottom shelf kind of lady.” He let out a small laugh.
“You got me there.” You smiled. “I think-“
“She’d love to have a drink with you!” Ally cut in, earning a glare from you.
“Come on, Ally, you didn’t even let me intimidate him first.” You rolled your eyes, making a quick joke.
“He looked pretty scared to me.” She giggled. You looked back at the boy, shrugging.
“I guess he does.” Jake let out a nervous chuckle. “Come on, pretty boy, let’s go get a drink.” You grabbed his hand, pulling him along behind you. When you reached the counter, he pulled a bar chair out for you, letting you sit down first. He took a seat beside you, turning to look at you.
“So, witchy woman,” he smirked “what’s your name?”
“Hm, I think I like that name better.” You grinned.
“Come on, I’m sure that pretty face has an even prettier name.”
“Y/n,” you said, crossing your legs. “What about you, mystery man?”
“Jake.” He told you. You looked at him for a moment, slowly nodding your head.
“That fits. You look like a Jacob.” He laughed.
“I do?”
“Yeah, I mean, not in a bad way or anything, you just look like a Jake.” You stated, looking up at him through your eyelashes.
“Noted.” he replied. Mike stopped in front of the two of you. “I’ll get the same as earlier,” he looked to you “and one of whatever this beautiful lady has been getting all night.”
“Lady is a strong word for this one.” Mike chuckled.
“How rude, Mike. I may just have to leave a bad review.” You snipped. He waved you off.
“You love me too much for that.”
“You’re right, I do. I can’t get this cheap of a drunk anywhere else. Glad to see you referred to my Spotify playlist for tonight.” You mentioned, hearing a Cream song begin to play.
“It was too good not to play.” You watched as he poured the drinks. “I should pay you instead of the shitty DJ’s they bring in.”
“Hey, twenty bucks is twenty bucks.” You sent another wink in his direction.
“You think I pay them that much?” The three of you let out a chorus of laughs. He handed you both your respective drinks.
“Add them to my tab, please.” Jake told him. Mike gave a nod. “And all of her drinks for the rest of the night.” He added. You gave him an incredulous look.
“Absolutely not,” you scoffed “that’s very kind of you, but I won’t do that to you.”
“I don’t mind, really.” He assured you. Mike gave him a look of warning.
“She’ll drink you broke, buddy.” He told the boy.
“It’d be worth it, then.” Mike gave a shrug, walking away and doing as he was told without another protest.
“Jake, you really don’t have to-“
“I want to.” He cut you off, a tone of finality in his voice. You closed your mouth, pleasantly surprised at the authority. Usually, it would irk you, but from him, it was more than alright. You sipped your drink before the conversation continued. “So, what do you do for a living?” He asked, leaning back in his chair.
“I’m in school right now, actually.” Now that you were looking at him, you were realizing he might have been a bit older than you. You’d never seen him around the town, or the campus. He was a mystery waiting to be discovered.
“What are you taking?” He asked, eyes never leaving you.
“What do you think I’m taking?” You figured it would be fun to play with him a bit. He studied you for a moment, trying to pry into your brain.
“Something science-y.” He deducted. You were impressed.
“Yeah, actually.” You smiled.
“Biology?” You nodded.
“Well, sort of.” You gave a small laugh. “Chemical engineering. Moving on to biomedical engineering for my masters.” His eyes widened at your statement.
“So you’re a genius, too?” He asked.
“If you want to say that, sure.” You played into it. “What about you, Jacob?”
“I’m a musician.” You narrowed your stare at him.
“Any good?”
“I’d like to think so,” he responded, eyes crinkling with the upturn of his lips. “I guess I’ll have to show you sometime so you can judge for yourself.”
“Yeah, I guess so.” You trailed off. “So that’s why you have such a good taste in music, then?” He gave a small shrug.
“I grew up on the type of music you like.” Was all he replied.
“So you play rock music?”
“Modern rock, yeah.”
“That’s actually really cool.” You admitted. “You play guitar, don’t you?” He nodded.
“How’d you know?”
“Woman’s intuition, if you may.” You scooted your chair closer to him. He welcomed it, doing the same. “So you’re just passing through town, then?”
“Yeah, we had a show here last night. We’re gonna be here for a couple days, though.” He was much more intriguing than you’d originally pegged him for.
“Where’s home for you, then?” You pried, genuinely wanting to know him now.
“Michigan.” He answered, setting his glass back on the countertop. “You?”
“Washington.” You replied.
“You’re a long way from home, then.” He noted.
“Well, I couldn’t really turn down a scholarship from John Hopkins.” You practically scoffed. “My parents would have killed me if I did.” You laughed.
“Yeah, fair enough.” He conceded. “How far along are you?” He asked.
“I’m in my third year of my undergrad. I’m finishing up my bachelor’s early, then I’m starting my masters in the fall.” Jake was blown away at your words.
“You amaze me.” His expression showed nothing short of admiration.
“I guess I can add ‘impressing celebrities’ to my resume.” You smirked, leaning forward slightly. Perhaps it was the alcohol lowering your common sense, but he looked very good, and you’d likely never see him again. It was a win-win for you. “I think I’d like to make your time in Maryland memorable, Jake the rockstar.”
“You already have, Y/n the engineer.” He was leaning in now, too.
“Oh, so you don’t want to kiss me?” You teased. Your noses were practically touching, the smell of whiskey on his breath was driving you crazy.
“No, I would love to kiss you.” He assured you.
“What are you waiting for, Jacob?” Before you could say anything else, his mouth was on yours, desperate to know what you tasted like. It was heated, both of you tipsy and fuelled by attraction, but it wasn’t sloppy. When you pulled away, you giggled at the lipstick that stained his lips. “Reds your colour, I think.” You wiped away the smudge with your thumb. He couldn’t hold back his smile, placing a kiss to the pad of your finger.
“You think so?”
“Mhm,” you hummed. But, in your true nature, you stood, cutting the moment short. “Come find me before you leave, rockstar.” You placed another kiss on his lips, walking away without another word. He followed you with his eyes, dumbfounded at the sight of you walking away. He watched you until you disappeared back into the sea of people, not sure if he should follow or not.
You ventured back to the pool table, joining your friends once more. They didn’t notice you right away, but when the girls caught sight of you, they had a shock at your smudged lipstick. Instead of explaining, you grabbed a pool cue and started up another game after convincing one of the boys to go buy a round of shots.
Jake joined his brothers in the booth, wordless and still trying to comprehend the interaction you’d shared with him moments before. “How did that go?” Josh snickered.
“I… I don’t know.” He said. “I mean, she kissed me, then she just… left.” His twin reached out and gave him a reassuring pat on the back.
“Maybe you’re a bad kisser,” Sam chirped, earning a pointed look from his eldest brother.
“Did she say anything else?” Josh questioned.
“She told me to find her before I leave.”
“Well that’s not a bad thing, then!” He exclaimed, trying to cheer him up.
“I don’t know, man. I’ve never met anyone like her before. I’m scared I might’ve blown my shot.” He sighed, swirling the ice around in his cup.
“You’ll just have to find her, later.” Sam shrugged. “Then you’ll know for sure.”
Back at the pool table, you were on your last solid ball, eyes already on the 8-ball and planning your victory. You lined up your shot, guiding the cue through your fingers and knocking it into the cue ball. It bounced into the orange one, hitting it against the corner and rolling it back into a corner pocket. You gave a smirk of triumph at Ben’s roommate, who still had three balls left to sink. He said nothing, barely willing to make eye contact with you before you took aim again. You shot at the black ball, eyes following it carefully as it landed in the hole without issue. You placed your cue on the table and gave your opponent a sweet smile.
“I’ll take another Jack and Coke. Make it a double, honey.” You told him. Instead of arguing, he placed his own stick down and nodded, walking to the bar without another word. While waiting for him to return, you checked your makeup in your phone camera. You pulled out a tube of lipstick, reapplying it in the places it had worn off. When your refill was brought back to you, you thanked the boy and turned to your own roommates. “I’m going outside, anyone joining?” You asked. The girls nodded, grabbing their drinks. They scuttled behind you as you made your move toward the door. The bouncer caught sight of the drink in your hand and moved in front of the exit before you could get outside.
“You can’t bring that out there, y/n.” He told you.
“Oh, come on. You know I’m coming right back in.” You bargained with him. He didn’t budge. You put on a little bit of an act, letting an innocent look fall over your features. “You know, a lady is never supposed to leave her drink unattended. You never know what could happen.” He faltered, shaking his head, knowing he wasn’t going to win the argument.
“Fine, but make it quick. Don’t let Mike see you, either.” He warned.
“You know he couldn’t stay mad at me.” You reminded.
“It’s not you I’m worried about,” he chuckled. You blew him a kiss as you passed by, Ally and Eve following close behind.
The night was cool, but it felt nice after being inside the warm bar. The exposed skin on your legs filled with goosebumps at the sudden breeze, but you paid no mind to it. You handed one of the girls your drink, pulling a cigarette pack out of your purse. You took one between your lips, offering it around to the others. They each took one, mimicking your actions. You took your lighter and lit all of them, slipping it back into your bra. You took your drink back, letting out a long exhale of smoke. “You guys having fun?” You asked.
“I’d be having more fun if you could set me up with one of mystery boy’s brothers.” Eve said. You gave a low chuckle.
“You can have mystery boy, too.” You flicked off the ash that was accumulating on the end of your cigarette.
“Why? What’s wrong with him?” Ally asked, eyes wide.
“Nothing,” you shrugged “he was a good kisser, probably a good lay, too. Just not looking for anything like that.” You were lying. You were very into him, even before he’d kissed you. If it were with him, you’d be willing to try another relationship. You barely knew the guy, but he had an effect on you you’d never felt before. You knew if he walked out of the bar and joined you, he’d have you wrapped around his finger, and you didn’t like that feeling.
“Babe, he may be a fantastic guy. He seems really into you. I think you should give him a chance.” Eve pushed.
“I told you, not interested.” You replied, leaving it at that. “He’s a musician, anyway. Best case scenario, I fall for him and I get to see him twice a year. Doesn’t sound fantastic to me.”
“No, y/n, the best case scenario is you get to know each other and he treats you really well. Maybe he’d even take you across the world with him.” Ally interjected. You scoffed.
“As if I have time to travel across the world with a horny rockstar.”
“Don’t let you-know-who ruin this for you.” Eve warned.
“I don’t want to talk about him; how I feel has nothing to do with him.” You snapped. She knew your ex-boyfriend was an off-limit topic. She conceded, still knowing that you weren’t being 100% truthful. He’d really fucked you up, and was still trying his best to make you miserable months after your dramatic end by following you around, blowing up your phone non-stop, and ruining any new, blossoming relationships before they could amount to anything. You wanted nothing more to do with him after your caught him hooking up with a sorority girl at a house party, and that was one of the lesser injustices he’d committed against you in the time of your relationship. You were surprised he hadn’t shown up at the bar, yet, just to disturb your night. The cigarettes were slowly dwindling to an end and the tension had yet to subside. “I’m going to have another one, I’ll meet you guys in there.” They nodded, departing back into the building. They were well aware you just needed a minute alone; you’d be fine by the time you went back inside.
You lit another cigarette, leaning back against the building with no real thoughts. You watched the passerby’s, wondering quietly about what was going on in their heads. People were fascinating. It was always strange to think that every person that passed by had their own stories, thoughts and dreams. At face value, they were just bodies. You couldn’t begin to fathom the amount of memories and tales each person that walked by held in their minds.
“Penny for your thoughts?” A voice broke you out of your own mind. You looked up to see the same blue button-up and black jeans from earlier.
“Following me, rockstar?” You smiled. He shook his head, holding up his own pack of cigarettes.
“Just luck.” He leaned against the wall next to you, not close enough to make you uncomfortable, but enough to make your heart flutter.
“Guess so,” your usually witty comments seemed to be lost. The liquor coursing through your veins seemed to be making the decisions rather than your conscious mind, now. All you knew was that he was gorgeous, and you’d never have to see him again after the night was through. You hated that you were so back-and-fourth with your own mind, but you couldn’t help it. Those were your only justifications for what you said next. “Do you plan on taking me home tonight, Jacob?” You turned your head slightly, peeking at him through the corner of your eye.
“If you’ll let me.” He looked at you, now.
“I think that would be alright.” You said, turning your body towards him. He mimicked you, eyes finally fully landing on your face. He let out a shaky breath, stunned by your beauty. He thought he’d never get to experience it that close to him again. Without another word, you threw your cigarette to the ground and pulled him in by his shirt collar, landing your lips on his for the second time that night.
His hand shot to your hip, pulling you into him. Your tongue darted over his bottom lip, begging him to open his mouth. He did so without hesitation, knowing that he’d take you right there if it meant he got to have you at all. You were lost in the feeling, the taste of him intoxicating you more than any of the liquor you’d drank that night. You felt as though nothing could break your focus from the beautiful boy in front of you. But, all things come to an end, and in this case, it was by your name being called frantically.
“Hey, sorry to break up the moment, but we’ve got a problem.” Both of your roommates were in front of you, wide eyed and anxious. You were still coming back to reality, confusion etched in your features.
“What is it?” You finally mustered, taking a step back from Jake, who also looked very disgruntled.
“He’s here. He saw us, and he’s looking for you.” Your expression turned stone cold. Jake looked between you and the girls he didn’t know the name of, silently begging for someone to tell him what was going on. “We have to go.” They tried to usher you away, but you kept your feet planted to the ground.
“Let him find me.” There was no shakiness in your tone; you were serious, almost eager for him to come outside.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” Ally said, shifting on her feet.
“I think it is.” You brought you drink to your lips, draining the last of the liquid into your mouth and swallowing it down. “This is my bar.” You reminded them.
“Okay, hold on,” Jake said, intervening now. “What isn’t a good idea?” With that, the front door to the building opened and a boy stepped outside, eyes immediately settling on you. You took a step forward, a smile twisting on your face.
“Finally found me, then?” You handed your glass off to one of your roommates, not looking to see who grabbed it. His eyes were menacing, but they had never scared you before, and they certainly weren’t, now.
“Didn’t have to look very hard.” He took a step towards you. Jake was watching, still unsure of the situation. He looked to the other two girls for an answer, but they weren’t paying any attention to him. “Just had to find the sluttiest outfit at the shittiest bar.”
“This is getting pretty pathetic, Aaron.” You crossed your arms over your chest, giving him a look of disdain.
“It’s been months. You won’t speak to me, you won’t answer my calls, you won’t even fucking look at me when we pass each other on the street.”
“I wonder why,” you rolled your eyes. “We broke up. You were an asshole, I left. Get over it.” You snapped. “Stop following me around to the bars and waiting for me outside of my apartment complex. It’s creepy; get a fucking life.”
“Maybe I would stop if you would just talk to me! I just want to have a conversation, maybe figure this out.” You scoffed.
“No, I don’t think we’ll be ‘figuring this out’ any time soon. Or ever, really. Take the fucking hint and move on. Or get some help, preferably.” He took a step towards you, a look of warning crossing his features.
“Don’t speak to me like that.” His voice was low.
“Should we stop her?” Jake whispered to your roommates, wondering if they were really going to let you take on a guy two times your size all on your own. They both looked back at him, having to bite back a grin.
“Honey, if you’re really interested in her, you’ve gotta understand: nobody can stop her. Most we can do is cheer her on.” The red-head explained. He was still nervous, looking at you and the unknown guy. He was towering over you, but you had no intent on backing down.
“Should we help her, then?” He asked.
“I promise, she doesn’t need any help.” The blonde one spoke now, a ghost of a laugh lingering in her tone. Jake backed down, deciding it was best to just watch how things played out before getting involved.
“You don’t even have the decency to give me any closure, and I come out here and see you whoring around with,” he looked at Jake for a moment. You could see the gears turning in his head while he searched for a good insult. “Van Halen wannabe?” You almost giggled at his shitty pass at Jake.
“At least the Van Halen wannabe could get me off if he wanted to.” You cackled. Your roommates gave Jake a pat on the back, reassuring him that it was alright. He wasn’t even paying attention to the insult thrown at him, more worried about you. There was quite a crowd forming now, everyone wanting to see what the fuss was about. Although, Jake did happen to notice, everybody was looking at the boy as if they were scared for him.
“Sure, you’re laughing now, but you won’t be when you realize he won’t stick around, either. You’re not worth much more than a quick fuck. He’ll realize that pretty soon, too.” The demeanour shifted quickly. You were no longer in a mood to throw insults back and fourth all night. You were itching for a fight. “You can spit out insults all you want, but it won’t change the fact that you’ll end up alone. Wasn’t hard to find someone better. All I had to do was bring home the first girl I saw at that party.” Your vision turned red, furious at the thought he’d even bring up that night. Your hands were vibrating, fuelled with rage at the sight of him, now.
Before anyone could do anything to stop it, your arm raised, hand balled as tight as you could get it, and you swung at his face. Your fist connected with his nose, knocking him backwards. He stumbled, hand coming up to grab where you’d hit him. “Sure, Aaron.” You shook your hand out, barely paying any mind to the stinging. “If telling yourself that helps you sleep at night, keep it up! But if you’re going to lie about it, you can at least leave me alone. Hard to believe you can find someone better when you’re still chasing after me like a lost puppy.” You gave him a sweet smile. He had straightened up and approached you again, about to open his mouth for another jab. Before he could, you moved swiftly, landing another punch to his face. “Now do me a favour and stay the fuck away from me.” It felt nice. You’d been waiting to do that for a long time, finally happy the perfect moment had presented itself.
By that point, the bouncer had caught on that something was going on outside. He’d pushed through the crowd, catching sight of you. “Y/n! Again?” He snapped, making a move towards you. You let out a laugh, stepping back.
“Sorry, Cody!” You shouted your apology to the bouncer as you turned towards your roommates. “Tell Mike I’ll see him next weekend!” You grabbed the girls hands, staring to make a run for it. Jake watched, still trying to process the entire interaction that had unfolded in front of him, amazed that a single punch from you could have knocked a boy that size, backwards. He only clued in to what was happening when you paused in front of a building a few down from where he was standing. You were pulling your heels off, still trying to walk while you did so.
“Wait, y/n!” He called after you, not willing to let you get away that easily. You turned back to look at him, faltering for a moment.
“Sorry, rockstar!” You yelled back, genuinely feeling your chest ache as you ran away. “Nice meeting you!” Your voice echoed through the street. You thought maybe you should turn around and get his number, but pushed the thought away. He was leaving in a few days and he’d likely never remember you, anyway. You told yourself it was for best.
Jake watched your silhouette disappear into the night, debating running after you. But he stood, frozen, until you were completely out of sight. He was head over heels for you from the minute he saw you, even more so now after seeing you hold your own against a man two feet taller than you and probably a hundred pounds heavier. In the background, he could hear the bouncer scrambling your ex-boyfriend to his feet, eager to get him off the property before he had to call the cops. Jake didn’t care to pay attention to it, though, because he was only caught up in wondering if he’d just let the love of his life run away without even getting your last name.

“So you came back just to gentrify the city?” Richie had a smile on his face, but Y/N saw through it. The man didn’t handle change well, and they knew he hated looking around the place he grew up and realizing that nearly everything looked different.
Y/N hated it too, but they knew change was inevitable. Most times it was easier to just accept it, move on, and eventually forget the way things used to be. Some things were more difficult to forget than others, though. “It’s just a coffee shop,” Y/N fought hard to not slip into old, aggressive habits, but it was difficult when it came to dealing with Richie. “And not some corporate bullshit—locally owned, sourced, all that ethical junk.”
He scoffed, “Ain’t it enough that you’re renovating that building? Probably skyrocket rent, force people out, bring in the rich. The hell are you here for, anyway?”
“People were paying way too much for that shithole in the first place. I’m just making it liveable.” Y/N knew it was worthless to fight with him, they might as well be throwing punches at a brick wall. “I’m here to see Carmy. Talk business.”
“You’re roping him into this shit now!? Kid’s brain is already always five seconds away from blowing up.” He cut himself off to give a grandiose greeting to one of the regulars and pass a sandwich to another. “She’s just using Carmy as an excuse to come see me, Jerry,” he playfully whapped the customer’s arm, “I’m irresistible.”
“You’re an unfortunate fixture of this place,” Y/N tossed over their shoulder, walking away toward the little office in the kitchen. There was probably a level of truth to what he was saying, but Y/N would never admit that to him—or themself—in a million years. Chicago reminded them of a version of themself that took a lot of work to leave in the past. People may change as they grow, but the person they used to be never really dies. It just lays dormant, buried deep within until something wakes it up.
Carmy’s hand momentarily clapping them on the shoulder saved them from the downward spiral of introspection. “Sorry, this place is a mess.” He scrambled to move a stack of papers off the spare chair, sitting them on the desk and nearly causing an avalanche. Y/N sat down before he could tell them to. “He bother you? What’s up?”
Y/N suddenly felt bad for taking up Carmy’s offer to go over their business proposal. He barely spared them a glance as he shuffled through papers and periodically rubbed his forehead.
“He always bothers me—I can handle him.” Carmy scoffed, mumbling “sure you can” as he inspected an invoice hopefully before shoving it back into a folder.
“Is this a bad time? I can go if you’re too busy.” Y/N knew their offer was futile—it was always a bad time and Carmy was always busy. He snapped out of his search and gave Y/N an apologetic look. “No, no, I got time. Sorry, I just—”
“I get it, Carm. No need to apologize.”
“Yeah, yeah, right,” Carmy rubbed his eyes and gave Y/N a quick once-over before giving them a quick smile, “I guess, uh, if anyone gets it, it would be you.”
Y/N held Carmy’s gaze, but they didn’t break the silence. They knew that Carmy had more to say, and the only way to ensure that he’d say it was to leave the ball in his court.
“Some days I feel like my head’s ‘bout to explode,” the ghost of a sad smile was on his face, “but I’d rather keep busy than think too deeply into things.”
The manila envelope in Y/N’s hands mocked them along with Carmy’s words. They both knew Y/N was sinking on the same boat. Y/N could easily deflect by giving him some bullshit advice, but it would just be hypocrisy. The pair fell into a beat of silence as Y/N looked at the floor, contemplating their next steps.
“When I first moved away, I hated coming back to visit. Seeing all the places I used to hang out, the people I used to be close with…” Y/N trailed off for a moment before locking eyes with Carmy, “so I just stopped coming back. Pretended to be someone I’m not in a place I’m not sure I even belonged in. I thought I had changed, but being here just makes me realize that I’m the same person I always was. The same person I’ll probably always be.”
Carmy was softly nodding his head when Y/N continued in a much smaller voice, “I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing, but it is what it is. Might as well keep going until I can’t anymore.”
He furrowed his brows, frowning a bit, “sorry for making you come here. I know it’s not eas—”
“Jesus, Carmy, quit apologizing.” He wasn’t wrong, though. Y/N felt antsy at the restaurant. There were too many memories in that place—both good and bad—and Richie was a very loud reminder of their past. “If I didn’t want to put up with him—with all of it—I would just not come. Can’t hide forever.”
He made to say more, but was interrupted by a loud “yo!” as Richie’s lanky frame entered the room. “My ears are ringing,” he gently shoved Y/N’s shoulder with the back of his hand, “talking shit?”
“On you? Always.” Y/N wasn’t lying when they said they were fine being around Richie. The man’s presence brought a confusing mixture of anxiety, anger, and comfort. There’s no fool like an old fool—whatever that means.
Y/N fell into their own thoughts as the two men argued about the front of house coverage. They were pulled back into reality when they heard Tina yelling for Carmy in the kitchen. Y/N didn’t realize they were staring at Richie until Carmy passed in front of him to leave. Richie furrowed his brow as he looked back at Y/N.
“You good? You look like shit—got that thousand yard stare.”
“I’m fine.” The pair slipped into a staring competition. This wasn’t a conversation Y/N wanted to have, and they could feel him inspecting the darkening circles under their eyes and their frizzy hair.
He broke the silence, “what are we?”
“I know you’re not asking me this question right now,” Y/N sputtered.
“I mean, we’re friends, right?” Richie gestured vaguely between them, and the scattered mess of thoughts Y/N had been having for the past few months dropped on their head like a bucket of cold water.
“I don’t know, Richie.”
His head bobbed as he turned to the doorway, offering Y/N nothing in response but a mumbled “right.” He didn’t look back, and Y/N didn’t follow.
Y/N wasn’t sure if they knew the answer to that question back when they were together, and they sure as hell didn’t know the answer now.
