I've been losing it trying to figure out America's age. We know she was orphaned when she was ~7 years old from the Young Avengers run, and her latest solo run puts that happening 13 years ago, which would make her 20/21. We know she joined the Teen Brigade when she was 16. We also know that Kieron Gillen originally said she was 2-3 years older than the majority of the Young Avengers, making her 23-24 during the run. (1/3)
He later said she was 17/18 along with David, making her 3 years younger than Kate and 4 years younger than Noh-Varr. Or maybe not, because her running off to join the Teen Brigade is also stated in her solo run to have happened three years ago, making her 19 (despite the fact that the similarly-aged David is canonically at least 21) and also meaning that only 1-2 years have passed in-universe since the events of Young Avengers. (2/3)
Or maybe not, because the same fucking comic also flashes back to the night her moms died in a later issue and says it was 15 years ago (not 13 as previously mentioned), making her 22. I hate you comic book character ages I hate you. (3/3)
yeah bud, this is a right headache. they've always fucked w her age a lot tbh. and i don't overly care in the sense that she's a multiversal traveler w some starry galactic powers - it makes sense that her relationship to time would be a bit different, but i do care abt them constantly trying to retcon and reconfigure her past for kinda no purpose (i'm a utopian parallel apologist sorry not sorry i think its a more fun compelling backstory, but whatev).
i personally feel like with marvel sliding time scale taken into account, yeah maybe only a year or two has passed since young avengers and i'm fine w that, but she's now had over three tenures on super teams plus her own vigilante time, plus her own apparently numerous multiversal/timeline adventures? so imho that makes it reasonable to me that she's early twenties.
the way she's written in young avengers also does give that impression. she seems like that's where she is in her story and how she relates to the other characters (particularly kid loki and kate, who IS canonically older than most of the rest of the YA too, SO!) that also seems reasonable. i don't loooove her characterization in all of her solo run bc i do feel like she sometimes flips between typical young 20s finding shit out and discovering herself and a younger on the cusp of adulthood, very bouncy idealistic sort of teen and that feels incongruous with her in a lot of different runs and her continued growth.
so! i choose to see her as like, 22ish physically, probably more multiverse weary and having a complicated relationship with aging and her own perception of individual self. and here she will probably stay for a long while, as she occupies that 'young avengers' category and they keep the main avengers teams at 30-something ish and don't let them age either.
and just like those other characters, we are never gonna get a solid age. tis the Comic of It All
i agree w ya tho!! yeahhhh writers should stop trying because it never ages well and also they have so much trouble keeping track of their own timing in their own goddamn runs or later as a retcon/comment (INFURIATING. what do you mean, i beta my stuff but they don't have to fucking fact check AGAINST THEIR OWN SCRIPT at all??? NO TAKEBACKS. DO IT RIGHT and never use a number when you don't have to dodos!!!)
anyways its terrible!! no good! everything is made up and the points don't matter, at least america will always kick ass and be the stargirl we all need!!

my thoughts on c!dream and what they're going to do with his character; a long very long post
all this all is /roleplay and /dsmp and tbh im just info dumping to organize my thoughts
ok so, c!dream is a villain. this is obvious for many reasons (he has a list with all of his crimes on his wiki page LMAO) but the main fact why he's a villain is because the story isnt told by his perspective.
villains are villains because we don't know their view, the story is never about them, someone else says they're the bad guys and everyone (the other characters + the audience) goes with it.
for example, when we took villains that had a "redemption arcs" we can identify 2 patterns: the villain/ bad guy learned from their mistakes and became a better person or we see their past/what they've been through/ their intentions and why they act the way we act so we can understand and justify what they do.
zuko from avatar? become a better person
loki from marvel? we understand his pov
snape from harry potter? we see his pov and he (tries to?) became a better person at the end
even if a villain doesn't necessarily have a redemption arc, we can like them and even support what they do when we see why they do that (personal example: in bnha, shigaraki tomura hate the heroes and that mf is RIGHT the heroes society is rotten and he has personal motivation to hate them - his family)
what i'm trying to say is, that's why c! dream has so many apologists. we don't see the true motivations or why he canonically do what he does, but people can speculate. "he just wanted them to follow the server rules" "he just wanted a happy big family" "he wanted to make everyone happy but power corrupted him"
the only dsmp dream streams we have are those from the begging, mostly before the lore, where dream (who became c!dream) was a funky happy guy chilling with his friends. he never wanted wars.
however, i don't think c!dream is like this anymore. i think he, for some unknown reason, became a bad guy. but again, we can't know WHY he is the bad guy. is he just a bad person, who made bad choices? does something happened? we don't know because he doesn't stream his pov, and just like a movie, the villain story became a narrative from the "heroes".
ok now with all of this, what they're going to do with c!dream? I very much doubt he will stream lore, so the "i get why the villain is like this because now i know his pov" strategy won't be used.
what they can do is what they already did: c!dream telling his story to others, saying to c!sam his motivations or what he wanted, saying to c!tommy why he did what he did etc, but the character + the audience cant tell is it's his genuinely sad true or if he's just lying and manipulating the situation.
aaaaaand of course
character redemption <3
what c!dream has been through is like, to not say worse, what c!tommy had to go through during exile. (i HATE comparing them because they're different situations with different contexts bUT ANYWAYS)
months without seeing the light, without talking with anyone, being mentally & physically tortured and the list goes on. both c!tommy and c!dream were suffering and that's horrible and it doesn't matter what they did before, because at the moment, or when/ if c!dream goes out, both or them will be fragile and traumatized.
with baby steps, c!dream could realize how evil he was to others. he can say he feel in his own skin what happened to c!tommy, and say he wants to change. he has a lot to think about after sam's last lore stream (c!sam directly said to him that everything he's going though, himself had planned to c!tommy).
the way they're writing the lore is to slowly make c!sam and c! quackity look like the bad guys, but we can still understand their pov and their past and WHY they're doing all of this.
same with c!techno. he scaped, he's gonna save (or try to save?) c!dream, his position in morality chart will go up /hj
conclusion c!dream had really really bad takes and he did really bad stuff but he's not necessarily the bad guy until we fully understand his pov and i can't wait to see what they're going to do when he canonically, finally scapes the prison for real

Lately i’ve been so done with fandom lol but specially with the loki fandom. What’s been getting on my nerves is (among other things) how so many negative fans are so eager to call the people involved in the show bad or evil. I get that we can (and should) criticize the cast and crew, specially since we are are paying to see their work. And we should absolutely call them out when they say or do something problematic. but what i’ve been seeing is a bunch of fans straight up calling these people evil (mainly Kate Heron and the writers), saying they acted in bad faith and that they either don’t care or outright hate the character Loki. And that they deliberately sabotaged the series, the series that had their names attached to it. like they purposefully made the show bad even though it’s gonna go on their curriculum because they have a grudge against a fictional character. So they call these people evil and incompetent and accuse them of some serious shit. without actual proof. they pick apart every interview and twist their words and infer things that aren’t actually inferable. Also, it’s really funny how feminism flies out of the window when it’s time to shit on a female director and a female character (like using gendered slurs, calling them old and unsuccessful). This way of seeing things has also affected how they talk to other fans (positive fans in this case). They act like they know Loki better than others, like hating the show is the only possible outcome if you really care about and know loki. They also love writing about how their level of identification with loki comes from them being victims of abuse like him (which is absolutely understandable) but completely ignore it when positive fans who also experienced similar trauma say they didn’t have an issue with the show. I’ve actually lost count of the times i’ve been called an abuse apologist for enjoying the show. And most of these fans are grown ass people that seem to think it’s ok to hate on real life people in order to defend a fictional character (which is why i find this over identification to be awful even if it’s a coping mechanism). I also don’t wanna seem like a bootlicker, specially since I rlly like reading people’s criticism of the show, but I just hate seeing people being called every possible bad thing without proof. Anyway sorry for venting lmao
I debated with myself about responding, not because I don’t agree, Anon, because I agree pretty hard—except the idea that it’s our job to call out creators for being problematic. I also debated with myself because I don’t like to make large-scale posts about fandom wank and not everything here is said the way I would say it. I have friends who are antis or voice critical things and, when they do it respectfully, I have no issue with that. (/disclaimer)
But you’re not talking about respectful dissent. You’re talking about a huge honking problem in the fandom, the fact that some people are being, for lack of a better word, disgusting.
I've seen everything you’re talking about: the sexist language, the nasty shit, the identifying with Loki so hard that you’d think they fucking invented him back during Viking times. And I have seen the bad takes, too. So many bad takes.
If they are ruining fandom for you, then block them. They’re already in their own echo chamber. Hit that clock button and leave them there. Let them be shitty amongst themselves and write their “superior” script. I mean, these are people who feel good about calling Sylvie and Kate c*nts and threatening Tom. Do you want anything to do with them? No.

Maybe your mutuals, who might already be accepting of of ships like thorki, aren't outraged about sylki, but there's a lot of that going on in the wider fandom on Twitter and Tumblr. Apparently it's basically incest (no one tell them about thorki) and also homophobic and can cause a lot of harm to "communities and minorities". It's all fun and games until someone thinks it's morally acceptable to dimension jump and fuck their alternate self. I swear antis can't hear what they sound like lol. 1/2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't remember what I posted to prompt this ask, so I'm sorry if my reply feels a little disjointed! But re: Sylkie - I mean, I can't really speak for my mutuals but the general consensus on my dash has nothing to do with any ~problematic~ elements and everything to do with how cliche and unnecessary the ship is. I'm not really sure how the ship is basically incest?? I mean, I know where the show has landed (that she's a Loki) but interpretation-wise in the fandom, either she is a Loki, or she isn't. If she is, then it would be selfcest, not incest, and if she isn't, then she's basically just some woman he met and fell for. They didn't grow up together, they don't share any genes, they aren't siblings.
Also," the ship is homophobic and can cause harm to communities and minorities" - okay. Lmao. Calling Loki/Sylvie homophobic is, I'm assuming, stemming from outrage that a confirmed bi character would be interested in someone of the opposite sex - but, I mean, what do they think bisexual means? Calling Loki/Sylvie homophobic is actually biphobic af, tbh.
"It's all fun and games until someone thinks it's morally acceptable to dimension jump and fuck their alternate self" should be embroidered on something, bc that is one of the funniest and also "out of context, this would be really fucking weird" comments I've ever seen on this hellsite. Lmao. Bless.
But, yeah. I'm not super here for the ship, but it has nothing to do with any 'cesty reasons. Insofar as it getting in the way of Mobius/Loki - I mean, if you're gonna boycott and hate a ship on behalf of the oppressed, you gotta at least be consistent about it. Mobius/Loki could be (and is, by some) considered an abusive ship. Not only is Mobius verbally abusive to Loki, but Mobius is - and never stops being - in a position of power over Loki. They're not on an even foundation, and furthermore prisoners can't freely and willingly consent to sex/relationships with those holding them prisoner so, congrats, there's your problematic, abusive, r*pe apologist ship, my purity loving friends. Enjoy sitting with those rainbows and candy canes for awhile.
(^^ I don't necessarily see Mobius as abusive toward Loki, for reasons I can't articulate, and I don't feel it's a problematic ship (though the power dynamic actually is a factor), for the record. But this was a fun exercise in critical thinking.)
Anyway, so yeah, I'm not surprised that the purity culture antis are raging, I'm just glad to not be seeing it. Like I said, in my corner of the fandom, the issue with Sylkie is just the context of it - it being cliche, it coming out of nowhere, and it being a plot at all bc Loki didn't need a love interest and Marvel sucks, consistently, at writing good love stories.
I'll probably expand on this in a separate post, but those are basically my issues with the ship as well. I don't really have a problem with it, in theory. I don't disagree that the characters have chemistry, and that they've trauma bonded, in addition to sharing the variant bond that allows them to skip right over a lot of those 'let me slowly trust you and let my guard down as I reveal more and more of myself to you' steps; they get to skip those steps bc each variant already knows them. They know their own walls and protective layers, and they know what's at the core, just by virtue of being two versions of the same person. And in that sense I don't even really have a problem with how quickly it came about, I guess.
But it's like - yeah, this definitely needs its own post, lmao, but basically I feel like it could make sense in theory but doesn't follow in practice. But maybe it will over the next two episodes, who knows.
On that topic, though, I like your speculations. Somewhere between yesterday and today I gave up on my own speculations, though, bc the showrunners confirmed it was romantic and I don't feel like bothering anymore. It would have been cool to see some kind of magic or a plan or even something a little more surface-level than 'I love you bc of reasons,' but, well. Sometimes you order eggs off of the menu and you meant scrambled and you're expecting some fluffy, hot, cooked to near-perfection scrambled eggs and the waiter comes out with a runny sunny-side-up dish and when you're like the fuck is this? they just shrug and say, I don't know, you ordered eggs? And looking at it on the plate - technically not wrong but unappealing, bland, and not what you expected - just leaves you feeling like, oh. Okay. I can plainly see there are no hidden scrambled eggs here, so I guess I'll just eat these.
I'm not longer sure if the ship or the show or both are the wrong eggs, lmao. This shit is why I really enjoyed Loki's love metaphor, even though later interviews w/ the showrunners and Tom framed it as not really being great or profound. Which adds more credence to the possibility that I might just have shit taste in general, but well, there we are.
Thank you for the ask and sorry it took awhile to answer!

Okay. I’ve allowed a night to let everything sink in. I’m ready to talk about Endgame now.
*cinemasins voice* spoilers!! (duh..)
so the wounds are still fresh. v v v v v v v v v fresh. but my thoughts during the entire movie were just OMG IM TRYING TO REMEMBER EVERY SINGLE THING THAT IS HAPPENING SO I CAN REMEMBER IT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE BEFORE i inevitably go see this movie again
This is what the movie reduce me to like 99% of the time btw
Tumblr media
now, I’m gonna try and break this up to be as organized as possible into 4 main sections which will be general thoughts, the highs, the lows, and closing thoughts. that may sound organized but I promise it won’t be and as always I’ll have to use bullet holes to even stay relatively "organized"
I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out that I either loved or would wanna discuss but tbh the ENTIRE FILM i was just like GOD I WANNA REMEMBER THIS FOREVER!! Every scene that happened i was like god there's still 3 hours of stuff that's going to happen but I want to remember it all!!!
Overall
this movie was good. and i’m mad it was so good and i found it so enjoyable for how dirty they did me. The pacing was pretty well done for a first viewing, but I'm sure after a couple rewatches I'll get caught up on the occasional misstep in the pacing and general direction the story took, but I really liked it!!
I thought the Thor stuff was kinda distasteful and honestly a joke that ran too long. Like ha ha okay we get it but also? He went through so much fucking trauma can we just lay off him? Damn? I don't wanna linger too much on it bc honestly the more I think about it the more I get upset the russos did him dirty
all the callbacks??? made me so emotional????? eleven years and almost two dozen films guys holy fucking shit it felt like such a good homage to bring stuff back
Yo literally when they went up to busted ass thanos i leaned over to my bf and whispered "are they just gonna kill thanos in the first ten minutes is that allowed" and uh YEP! WOW
Also the opening scene being Clint's family getting dusted... gasps in my theater y'all they went in hard on us
TIME HEIST!!!!!! FUCK marvel knows how to take you on a fun journey!! The concept was so fun!!
I also appreciate them mixing up the plot a bunch to keep us guessing!! Like fuck, when Thanos was finding out through Nebula... future nebula talking to past gamora i was SO SOFT... sisters...
Hulk was... weird. It felt a weird kind of fanservicey for a little bit, and honestly a little out of place? But. Eh. Wasn't the worst part. Certain parts of it were fun! I think I got used to it haha
Everyone looked. So good. After the time jump. Damn. Thank you make up department for everyone's new looks. I live for silver fox tony always.
I loved seeing Loki again i know it was so little content BUT I DONT CARE I'LL ALWAYS LOVE MY FUCKING PRINCE
We didn't get as much Nebula and Tony content as I was hoping but god it was so cute and tender in the beginning. Imagine all that bonding. Nebula finding tony on the floor, knowing he's on the brink of death, and propping him up in the seat :'(((( tony helping fix nebula :(((( the father daughter relationship we deserved and didn't get to see come to fruition.
AMERICA'S ASS. THANK YOU SCOTT LANG.
All the New York flash back was so fucking fun. The elevator scene. Brilliant. I really thought they were gonna recreate but it was such a fun tease. Also cap making fun of his past self for saying "i could do this all day" I SCREAM why do the Russo's get steve so well
Carol taking a direct punch in the face from Thanos without even flinching? We stan a goddess
ALSO SHORT HAIRED CAROL YESSSS I LIVED!!!!! YES!!!! (But also that movie could've used like way more Carol thats just mY OPINION)
Also AGAIN, I DON'T CARE THAT IT WAS FAN SERVICE, STEVE WEILDING MJOLNIR WAS E V E R Y T H I N G. They have TEASED US since that one middle avengers movie we don't talk about that he was worthy and!!! Our!! Son!! Is!! Fucking!!! Worthy. And the scene of thor making him swap w/ him "you get the little one" i screamed bitch
also I was living for how much Steve swore in this film lol literally fuck joss Whedon's characterization we don't know her!
Valkyrie on a Pegasus thank you THANK YOU i was living
That entire final action scene..... holy fucking shit y'all. It was just crazy enough without being too crazy. I loved the callback to the original long continuous shot
THE HEAVENS OPENED UP AND SANG WITH THAT A-FORCE SCENE. YES. ALL THE MARVEL LADIES LINING UP. THEY ARE HERE AND THEY ARE THE STRONGEST OF US ALL. A-FORCE. FUCKING A-FORCE. Thank you Russo's for my LIFE
Carol's little "hi peter parker :)" god i love them. I love peter. My fucking spider son. I missed him so much. I missed Tom Holland's sweet peach little face AH I CRIED WHEN HE SHOWED BACK UP
Also last kind of ~general~ thought i know i don't get time travel at all and it is an instant way to confuse me in any franchise but wouldn't steve doing what he did fuck literally everything up idk we'll get to steve in a bit
Highs
morgan
H.
fucking
stark
I CAN’T BELIEVE I GOT FED WITH SUCH GOOD TONY CONTENT THIS FILM ONLY FOR THEM TO STOMP ON MY HEART LMAOOO
DAD TONY BEING AS LOVING AND DOTING AND SWEET AND TENDER W/ HIS DAUGHTER AS WE ALL HAVE HEADCANONED HIM TO BE FOR YEARS!!!
TONY GETTING HIS JUSTIFICATION IN BEING MAD not just mad but PISSED at Cap for how everything fell out. catharsis. felt good scoob.
speaking of good tony content of course i need to just take a moment to YELL ABOUT STONY thank you russos for the fan service thank you for having tony ogle and comment on steve rogers’ ass it almost makes up for all the pain and suffering
btw do y’all think the H. for Morgan’s middle name stands for Harley because I LIKE TO THINK SO
also am i lowkey annoyed that like half of viewers won’t recognize an adult ty simpkin at tony’s funeral at the end even tho i know i shouldn't be because ot everyone is a die hard BUT half the articles im looking up for reviews and shit of that scene literally all the results are “SO WHO IS THAT KID AT THE END OF ENDGAME” YOU FUCKING FOOLS IT’S TONY’S FIRST BORN SON HARLEY KEENER FROM IRON MAN 3. FUCKS. im getting off topic anyway i was just happy they brought him back because I am an iron man 3 enthusiast and his relationship with tony was SO important and this confirms that at the very least tony kept in contact with him over all these years!!! and he wasn’t just some insignificant blip
Not to be stony on main but steve being the first person to hold Tony again once he was back on earth :)))) wrow.
Also the first thing tony telling him being "I lost the kid" WOW BREAK MY HEART MORE HUH!! WHY NOT!!
The first thing Peter doing when he saw Tony again :'') just rambling about everything that happened and tony just so happy to see him alive and hugging him so tight I'M NOT FINE!! NOTHING WILL EVER BE FINE AGAIN!!!
I appreciated the closure with Howard like?? A lot?? I'm the last person to be a Howard stark apologist, but I think his character and his relationship w/ Tony and how Tony viewed him as a father and as a man was so well crafted throughout the series??? Idk I liked that scene it was good to my baby.
And now a pOSSIBLY CONTROVERSIAL~~ opinion but..... I loved Steve's ending. I really did. I thought he got a beautiful and fitting ending and I was so happy. It meant so much especially to hear his reasonging being that in a way, he did it for Tony. He was inspired by what Tony told him. He saw Tony get his happy ending and for so many films now Steve has been searching for that and he missed an entire life. Tony helped him realize that. It just made me!! So emo!! Like Bucky's face when he knew Steve wasn't gonna be coming back. Steve's last convo w/ Sam. It was just amazing. I can't believe I'm seeing hot takes from people calling Steve selfish or blaming the fact that the Russos have a boner for Steggy or whatever. Who cares!!! Steve got his happy ending and it was well deserved and a wonderful arc!! Lay off him bc you ship him w/ Bucky or tony more damn!!!! (Idk about the timeline y'all dont come for me i really have no idea i think the Russos just said fuck it for that one even when talking about not fucking up the timeline)
Lows
Natasha deserved better. She did. I understand why they took her character arc the way that they did, and honestly, this is the first time I've felt we've seen Natasha have even a modicum of actual character traits since like, Iron man 2 and Avengers 1. She found purpose in keeping the family together and trying to help the people left living, while never stopping or losing contact with anyone else in their endeavors to fix what Thanos broke. As tired as I am of seeing a female character die for ~man pain~ this felt like so much more than that. In the end Nat wanted to sacrifice herself for the greater good, and that's what she did. I'm still fucking upset though, even though they've butchered her character across almost all the films she's been in
Thor being turned into an entire fucking joke. That's it. I got nothin left for the writers at this point.
So..... let's talk about Tony's death, shall we
"You can rest now" broke me. It truly did. I've never loved any fictional character across any medium as much as I have loved Tony Stark. But Pepper's line at the beginning "you'll sleep, but will you rest?" Is so fucking telling. I think I immediately knew for sure in that moment. Because she's right. And that's the worst part.
Peter :)))) finally :)))) calling :))))) tony :)))) by :)) his :)))) first :)) name :))) as he was dying :)))) asking him not to go the same way he told tony he didn't want to go when he was getting dusted GOD. AND WE THOUGHT THAT SCENE IN INFINITY WAR WAS ROUGH. HAD N O T H I N G ON THIS.
No offense but where was Rhodey when Tony was dying lmao ok
That funeral scene.... seeing everyone there drawn together..... god. It was beautiful. It really was.
Of course I'm not happy. I'm extremely fucking upset. I knew tony wielding the gauntlet would be coming, but I thought they would find a way for him to make it out alive. As soon as they were showing that even the hulk couldn't handle it with the gamma radiation, I knew the nail was going to be in the coffin.
All that aside... what I can say, is that if they HAD to kill him off, I think it was a proper send off. We saw so many arcs of Tony's come to a close, and I knew it was just a matter of time. Also that being said, I really don't believe in death being necessary to end a character's arc. Yeah yeah blah blah we get the sad and tragic but TRUE message that at the end of the day death is inevitable and that tony had to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He and Strange both knew it, and as soon as Strange held up that finger I knew that was it for him.
It wouldn't be so hard if they hadn't given us everything they did with tony after the 5 year jump. He healed. He was HAPPY. But pepper was right, and as long as Tony was alive... he would never truly /rest/. And that's the only way I'm able to make peace with this death. Tony has always been a character who was just going going going, never going to stop even if it killed him, all to protect the ones he loved, and protect the whole world and make it a better place. He had a beautiful story that was told so well over these past eleven years, with admitted shortcomings here and there. He had the most cohesive trilogy films, the best character development and arcs, and an incredible portrayal. I'm grateful for it, but that doesn't make it any easier that they decided to go and show us that Tony was able to FINALLY settle down with Pepper and see him find the best version of himself as a husband to her and a father to his little baby girl. A baby girl that now has to grow up without her dad, and pepper has to go on without her husband, the love of her life. It's fucking tragic and honestly, we didn't need that imho lmao
The hardest parts is that like.... idk. I feel like the only reason they killed him is for shock factor, but somehow without the shock? A lot of us felt or were worried that this was coming. I think the russos and co. We're just totally set on the idea that like... tony HAD to die and that was the only way for this arc to come to a close not just WITHIN the universe, but meta, outside of the MCU as well. They did the same thing with Hugh jackman as Logan and that shit HURTED me y'all. Eleven years we had RDJ give us this amazing character and he is the SOLE reason the MCU is where it is today. So you know what, the Russo's and everyone can circle jerk about how much ~poetic justice~ there is in this ending for Tony, but at the end of the day... it just ain't it fam.
Realistically I know after wielding the infinity stones there is no way Tony, a human, could've survived, even with his armor on. I knew that. And as biased as I am towards seeing Tony living, if he had wielded the stones and NOT died? It would've felt cheap. So again, if they had to end his life, I appreciate the way they did it and thought it was the best send off they could've given him. I also would've appreciated some kind of alternate option where oh i dont know carol or someone strong enough could've handled the snap and tony could live the rest of his days with his wife and daughter and found family but..... ig that's just me huh.
:(((( Happy asking Morgan what she wanted and her saying "cheeseburgers" SHE'S JUST LIKE HER DADDY I AM SO!!! UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And last thought is that I fucking cried AGAIN because the biggest applause moment was during the credits when RDJ's name appeared. My theater gave a standing damn ovation. Also the very last sound after it faded to black... Tony hammering away, building the very first Iron Man suit.... that shit hurted.
If any of y'all read this and wanna yell about stuff w/ me I WELCOME YOU INTO MY DMS LMAO PLS MESSAGE ME I NEED MORE PEOPLE TO CRY WITH!!!

Vikings 5x11 (The Revelation)
Tumblr media
I had a lot of fun recapping the first half of season 5 so I figured I’d take a stab at 5B, even though I really hate this whole split season thing. Considering it’s been a year since 5A. But whatever. It makes about as much sense as this show. As always, these recaps come with a hefty dose of hyperbole. I’m not out to offend anyone, I know we all have our favorites, and you’re more than welcome to disagree with me, but these are just my opinions. I might make fun of these characters and the show, but hey, I’m here watching. I obviously watch for a reason, because I’m a fan dammit. I love the characters, sometimes. They fade in and out of favor for me. Ivar was once my dude, and he still kinda is, but I’m not an apologist when he does fucked up shit. And so let’s just jump into some of that fucked up shit, shall we? Or piss, rather ...
The Saga of King Ivar begins with him peeing on the throne. Gross, dude. And then putting a poor goat on top of it. I’m really not into animal cruelty, plus he called the goat “the queen” ... do you mean Lagertha, Ivar? Or are you a goat-fucker now? I would’t be surprised tbh. The whole thing just reeked of a middle-ages fraternity-rager. Not a fun party.
Harald is sad about his wife, unborn child, and his bro. Ivar tells him to cheer up, there’s plenty of fish in the sea ... and he’s not exactly sentimental about brothers, so it’s not a great pep talk. I’m thinking Harald, when he sobers up and looks around a little, is gonna be like ...
Tumblr media
Later Ivar notices Freydis, who’s been hanging around and staring at him. And all of us at home are like, yeah, we kinda get it. He’s real cute.
Except he’s also batshit crazy and a brat, so there’s that. He invites her in and BOY DOES HIS ANGRY TUNE CHANGE when she’s around. He becomes a loose-lipped puppy dog, it’s adorkable. He also asks if she’s married (real subtle there, Ivar) and she’s like, nah ... I like being free, I like living alone. No men. AND I AM HONESTLY SO DOWN WITH FREYDIS HERE.
Until two seconds later when she spouts that “you’re so special ... I’d die for you” bullshit she was spouting from last season, er I mean ... first half of the same season. Whatever.
Seriously, what is she playing at? The logical part if me is thinking ... she must have some ulterior motive, she can’t be just some Ivar groupie, can she? But then I remember this is the show Vikings, where people’s motivations never make a whole hell of a lot of sense, especially women’s. But I digress.
Ivar laps up what she’s serving and then she asks what she can do for him ... and he gives her that grinch smile ... fade to black. And I mean, come on. We all know what happens next week. The Ivar fandom has been dreading it for over a year now. Ivar the boneless is gonna find out he’s not so boneless, and that Margrethe made him think the opposite. I wonder how he’ll take that bit of news considering she happens to be back in town.
Welcome back Uncle Daddy Rollo. I love Rollo and his crooked smile, always have, no matter how much of a fuck-up he is. His mind and heart always warring with each other. I suppose he reminded me of (Marvel) Loki when I first started watching Vikings. And Ragnar was (Marvel) Thor.
Though I guess you can’t really call him a fuck-up considering his vast wealth in Francia or the fact that his descendants will turn the tide in England in good ole 1066. In this way he has most certainly beaten Ragnar. But in his homeland? He just goes about shit in the wrong way. And ends up losing, if not the battle, then definitely his heart.
I suppose his motive was to help Ivar and Hvitserk so that Lagertha and Bjorn would have no other choice but to join him in Francia, but that was a HELL of a gamble. Seems as though he’d have been held in much better regard if he’d helped out his “son” and the “woman he loves” by backing them, but NOPE. He steps foot on Scandinavian soil and all of a sudden he’s that guy living in his brother’s shadow again and makes all the wrong decisions. And thus he sails away from Kattegat, perhaps for the last time, thinking ...
Tumblr media
Though I did enjoy him playing Ivar like a damn fiddle the entire time. And for that Rollo, I salute you. And I hope to see you again.
Vikings on the run + Heahmund. Margrethe is chained up with a pig for company, because she’s gone mad apparently. I’m just not into this at all. Why not just leave her in Kattegat? I’ve never had love for the character but come on. Hasn’t she suffered enough? Through bad writing and terrible acting? I guess not.
And so Lagertha, who has two men pledge their love to her this episode (and making a lot of Gisla/Rollo fans even more bitter, and justifiably so) ... now has really weird hair, and the makeup team isn’t covering up her under-eye circles. Also, whatever, I get that they’re trying to make her look aged, but at most she looks to be 40 and still gorgeous.
Bjorn emotes. Ubbe ... exists. And Heahmund tries to convince Lagertha that he’s loyal and wants her, even though he can’t publicly acknowledge her in England, being a bishop and all. So romantic.
They get the hell out before Ivar can catch them, leaving Margrethe to him. Hvitserk then carries her off in his arms after they get back to Kattegat, and something tells me somewhere, this whole situation is gonna make good ole Hvitserk be like ...
Tumblr media
Spanglo-Saxons. I’m still loving Alfred and can’t wait to see who Judith sets him up with. Hell, I’m even cool with Aethered. For now. It seems like we have a king with intelligence and then a prince who is the muscle. But something tells me it just can’t stay that way ...
In the last shot we see Heahmund riding back with Althelred, apparently to make an appeal to the new king to welcome his friends. As Lagertha and Bjorn leave their cage-covered wagon, you can just see it written all over their faces ...
Tumblr media
Maybe a life in Francia with everything one could want wasn’t such a bad idea after all?
Meanwhile in Floki-land. I DON’T CARE. Seriously. Get Aud and the famous wrestler off that island and back to Kattegat where they can at least be somewhat useful. I really like Aud as a character, but the whole Iceland storyline is so boring. Let Floki go somewhere else, like a robot island off the coast of China. Let him discover that.
Anyway. Did I like the episode? I did, honestly. It was good to see these guys again, especially Rollo. It was a decent season opener ... er ... i mean, second-half of the season opener.
Until next week ...

Rant mode on: Heroes, Fluff, and Good Guys
ARE SO MOTHERFUCKING BORING.
I don’t hate heroes per se, but chances are good that if an appealing villain is nearby, I’m going to be basically ignoring them. Not in the case of, say, a Deadpool, of course, but while I may be able to appreciate the visual loveliness and lively humor of Thor, I’ll always want to see more of Loki.
Villains are just better. I don’t know any other way to put it. The only time a hero is anywhere near as interesting as a villain is if they’re morally grey or start off in a baddish place and have a face-turn. Tony Stark, basically. Also helps if there’s no good villains around, which again, usually Tony Stark. His best villain was in his first movie but Obadiah Stane was STILL too one-dimensional despite Jeff Bridges doing his darnedest and anyway now he’s dead. ‘
I don’t like or read fluff unless it’s unusually well-written. I don’t give a shit about Loki owning a coffee bar where Thor works at or Tony getting the flu so Steve Rogers has to nurse him back to health. I don’t read things that make characters I think I know suddenly act like somebody from a Korean romantic drama. OOC love-smitten villains are especially the WORST. So. Much. Dislike.
So it grinds my gears when people get upset that OH MY GOSH that guy who acts and walks and talks like a villainous duck actually turns out to be one. No, Lotor is not suddenly a great guy who just wants peace and love. No, David Haller is not just a sweet little cinnamon roll who has no emotional damage or mental turmoil brewing behind those big blue eyes. Loki is always gonna be a self-obsessed, bitter, opportunistic prick, even if he does secretly love his brother and crave everyone’s praise. I don’t care if he’s hot and you like him, Light was still a meglomaniacal psychopath and he was WRONG. Ok I’m starting to digress here.
The fact that a villain can either a) very effectively fake being a likable, charismatic, and decent human being for a while or b) be not only evil all the time is what MAKES THEM INTERESTING. Heroes usually can’t pull off those tricks, not unless they’re anti-heroic anyway. And just because a villain is morally grey-to-black it doesn’t make them unlikable. I think many people have trouble with that concept. It’s too hard for them to detach themselves and look at things from a storytelling standpoint. Heroes-turned-villains are intriguing, as are villains-turned-heroes (unless the character gets softened to the point that they become a lame shadow of their former self. So Spike, basically). Straight up good guys can rarely switch moral alliances as easily as a villain can.
There’s almost always lots of hints that an “iffy” character who seems like a decent person for a while isn’t gonna stay that way (exception that proves the rule: Prince Hans from Frozen). If Lotor hunts down Allura like a dog in one season, be suspicious when he’s giving her flowers and shit a couple of seasons later. When various characters refer to a sympathetic protagonist as a “world-killer/breaker”, take that as a hint that a heel-turn is likely in the offing.
Will they permanently switch to black? Depends, but if they’ve been given some “human” moments, most likely no. They’ll get a chance at redemption, sadly often right before they eat it and croak. Because we don’t like people who do morally reprehensible things to survive, even if they have a change of heart. We’re all so fuckin judgey with fictional characters.
This is why Game of Thrones is so refreshing for everyone. The Hound is just fucking awful for most of it and he kills children, gets rapey with Sansa, etc. for the longest time. Then he finds God (well basically he realizes he’s not a monster like his brother and that he actually possesses a conscience) and now we fuckin love him because he’s still a grumpy, sass-master killing machine, but he’s OUR grumpy, sass-master killing machine.
I always will like Lotor and Loki and Spike several hundred times more than their more acceptable and clean counterparts. I’m just built that way. I’ve been crushing on villains since I was like fuckin’ five. I just wish more people could accept a great character as a great character, despite what fictional shit they do. I know that when David becomes Legion it’s not, like, the end of our lovable character forever. David is still inside Legion, just like Legion was always inside David. He still loves Syd and, yes, she still loves him, even if she can’t be with him. It doesn’t matter who screwed over who for what reason.
Sorry if I’m offending anyone. It’s just been a lot of angry bullshit online lately. I’m tired of it; I’ve had it, offic-ially. The rape apologists and fictional girlfriend haters and morality witch-hunters are just wearing on me.

parakavka replied to your post “sooo… my brother and I aren’t actually going to wisconsin because it’s...”
what are they and have your thoughts changed on any of them
okay okay so the three we watched were iron man 3, ultron, and civil war. putting this under a cut cuz I just really... went for it, sorry kavka.
my iron man 3 reactions have been heavily recorded but we just went for it and started off today with it. I know it may come as a shock that I disliked an iron man movie but my problem with it was much more to do with the butchering of the extremis storyline and the whole... blowing up the suits thing (yikes), but I have to say, I definitely liked the movie a lot more this time. I just straight up pretended that the technology at play was not extremis at all. so, that was fine!
ultron was a whole other beast, mostly because I was so fucking tired of terrible AI narratives?? like oh, give a robot consciousness and a directive to save humanity, and immediately the answer is always to destroy humanity to “””save it”””.... I was tired of that in 2015 and I’m still tired of it because people cannot get it through their brains that it is a BORING ASS UNCREATIVE TROPE. damn. anyways I had forgotten about wanda’s team mindfuck when thor hallucinates loki in a cloak and then heimdall shouts at him that they’re all already dead, because, what the actual fuck. and TONY’S fucking hallucination with all the avengers dead and steve saying “you could have saved us... why didn’t you do more” because holy fucking SHIT guys, can tony stark go one (1) movie without deeply suffering? is that too much to ask??? and: “I watched my friends die. you’d think that’d be as bad as it gets, right? nope. wasn’t the worst part.” “the worst part is that you didn’t” WHAT THE FUCK EVERYBODY UHH #INFINITY WAR SPOILERS???
so ultron was also pretty much fine honestly, given three years to sit around and not watch it and just. let my emotions stew more while I forgot things that happened. damn!!! damn. anyways lové how all the avengers are like “hey we’re gonna kill these minor ultron clonebots, tony you’re in charge of averting genocide and keeping the city from falling out of the sky” like cool??? way to uh... leave it all up to a single person and not really offer much in the way of assistance?? god anyways.
civil war. mmmm civil war, I’d been waiting for civil war since before the first avengers movie came out because civil war got me into marvel comics. so... I was pretty fucking wrecked that they adapted civil war without actually adapting like, anything from civil war - the motivations behind the accords, tony’s reasoning for why he was signing, the nature of the government beast behind things. I still hold those opinions about this movie, and I still think that the MCU failed to lay the appropriate groundwork to actually deliver on civil war so soon (it felt) after the avengers had only just formed. but ultimately, again, it’s fine. the biggest reason why I couldn’t fucking watch civil war ever again was honestly because of the fandom on this hellsite. I didn’t hate the movie originally, and I don’t hate it now, so the original post is a bit misleading. what I couldn’t stand was the way that the entire fandom after this movie just like turned in the worst sort of anti rage against tony. and,,,, I’m a top tier tony apologist. the amount of hate that was being tossed around was pretty impossible to deal with when I was sitting there being like well......... tony was right about regulation and oversight huh :V
anyways gotta love that nice personal touch of a letter from steve at the end of civil war to mirror the fact that in the comics steve doesn’t leave behind a will or anything, just a handwritten letter to tony telling him how important he is!! wow!! I love science! anyways I’d die for tony stark and watching these three movies again just helped reconfirm that in my already full to bursting heart!
