Heyy, could I request a reincarnation situation with monkey King, macaque and redson where the reader was their past lover who died an early death and the boys finally to moved on but in the present they meet again and fall in love all over again if you don't mind!
NDNJSBSJ ( ✧Д✧) YES!! Pfft had a Tang moment there- I most definitely can. I was so excited to write this! The possibilities for reincarnation fics are endless. (*´▽`)ノ
Genre: Romantic + Bit of Angst + Good Ending
Pronouns: Gender-Neutral
TW/CW: Mention of Death
Character(s): Sun Wukong(Monkey King), Liu Er Mihou(Macaque) & Red Son
☀️MONKEY KING☀️
Tumblr media
This could take place during his journey, where you had joined and fought alongside them as their healer. Granted, you weren't strong like him, nor fast, but you understood him. You listened to him rant and gave advice. You played along with his jokes. Heck, you even defended him when Zhu Bajie would try and get him in trouble.
He quickly fell for you, and made it known as soon as he found out. And eventually, after a long conversation, the two of you got together. He would go on about all the places you could visit and the adventures you go on together after he got you an immortal peach! You planned out where you'd go first, what you wanted to do-Oh, if only those precious days could last.
Being used as bait and immediately being killed off once your role was over definitely wasn't part of the plan. Safe to say, no one was safe from Wukong's rage that day. Blood painted everything it could reach, and no one could calm him, not even his companions, who were like family to him. He spent...a lot of time alone on Flower Fruit Mountain.
After wallowing in his sorrows, he began to slowly accept that you were gone. And as everyone passed on and time marched forward, he truly believed that he would be alone, but it isn't until he sees you delivering noddles with MK that all those buried emotions would come out, and he's in a state of shock. You, with the same hair, the same features, but the only difference being your choice of clothes to match the new times. Even your warm, soft voice is the same.
When he starts training MK, the first thing be asks is for him to bring you with him, which he obliges. You're confused, but are happy to make a new friend and introduce yourself to the Monkey King. You're talking about how you've heard a lot about him from Tang and MK, who's gushing about his mentor. And believe me when I say that it takes every ounce of his strength to not just hug you right there.
But that doesn't stop his little monkey friends from doing so. They're all over you, crying and holding onto you so tightly, and there you and MK are, confused and worried. He has to tell them that you don't remember anything, and that you may never be able to. They eventually understand, but still cling onto you, getting upset when you have to leave. You've joked about how you're like their mom, but Wukong never denies it.
He sees that your kind nature has stuck with you, and you're always offering to help him when it comes to moving stuff, cooking, cleaning, etc. You still give wonderful advice, and he takes it all in, using it the moment he can. He sees how you take care of his monkey friends, never losing your temper with their little antics, just like before. He realizes that he's quickly falling for you all over again, but he's not gonna stop it.
And you could feel yourself falling for him. He was so attentive, always making sure that you were comfortable. He cracked witty, and sometimes old jokes, but they made you laugh. The way he talked to you, and the nicknames he used with you, it made you feel special. Like you were the most important person in the world. And if anyone dared to hurt you, by calling you rude names or making fun of your appearance, he's gonna have a few words with them. In his civilian disguise of course.
At one point, he notices that you're more nervous around him and asks about it. When you confess that you've fallen for him, he's ecstatic, but it turns into panic when you start talking about the downsides of being in a relationship with YOU. "You're the Monkey King, you're super strong, and I'm not. So if an enemy were to use me as bait... That'd suck really bad."
He's shutting that down real quick and confesses that he's fallen for you too. Even with your concerns, he's showing off his powers, which calms your fears a bit. And if you wanted to, he could train you! More time to spend together! Whether you agree to it or not, he's fine with it, just as long as you accept his feelings back, which you do.
He doesn't waste any time and gets an immortal peach. He's not going to make the mistake of waiting like last time- So the next time you visit, he's asking you to eat it and spend eternity with him. When you hesitate and ask for a few days to think about it, he panics. Anything could happen in that time, you could die again-He's not gonna lie and say he wasn't a bit pushy cause he was-
But eventually, you accept it and are now immortal. "I don't feel different. It was a good peach though." And at that moment, his fears washed away. Of course, he's still worried about you getting hurt, so he'll give you an item that'll protect you should you ever need it. He has less nightmares about the possibility of you dying again, but the past memory still haunts him. Those nightmares-heck, even the thought of you getting hurt scares him. He just wants to be with you. 😔
If you were to remember, it'd probably take a hard whack to the head. Say that you're training with MK and he accidentally hits you with the staff, knocking you unconscious. Both him and Wukong are freaking out, and when you wake up, you're asking where THAT demon is. It takes you a bit to remember where you actually are and what happened, now being dazed by the fact that you've been reincarnated.
MK's asked by Wukong to leave for a bit, and when they do, he's embracing you. He's spouting about how happy he is that you remember everything, how lonely it's been without you. You, as usual, comfort the big monkey, soothing him. Eventually, you're both talking about everything he's accomplished since you've been gone, which leads to a conversation about the places that you both still need to visit.
🌙MACAQUE🌙
Tumblr media
Macaque never thought that you two would get together. I mean, you did help patch him up after first meeting, and you were absolutely gorgeous, but you were human. Humans feared demons, hated them, wanted them dead. Expect for you. You believed that everyone deserved a chance at life, and a second chance if they made a mistake. And as nice as that sounded, Macaque warned you that there were beings who simply wanted to kill just to kill.
And yet, you tried to reach out and help a demon, but they laughed in your face and attacked you. Obviously, Macaque attacked back and whisked you away, trying to find help. You kept apologizing to Macaque, who keeps telling you to just focus on breathing. Your last words to him are you apologizing and hoping to one day make it up to him. He's devastated, crying his heart out under the moon, begging for you to open your eyes, begging for you to not LEAVE HIM ALONE-
For as long as he tried and as much as he said it, he never truly got over you. Never dated anyone, not even trying to get to know someone like that. You were his first love, his ONLY love. You were the only person to truly understand him and stay with him. Comfort him when no one else did. Defend him through every accusation, even if it got you hurt. You were a mere human, beings that're known to get hurt easily, and yet, you stayed with him.
So when he dies, he welcomes it with open arms. If he can at least see you in the Netherworld, then he'll find his happiness again. But when he's told that you've been reincarnated, he's booking it and takes the deal with LBD without ANY hesitation. And once he's brought back, he'll look for you, scouring the whole world, but alas, he can't find you. He's so close to giving up.
So when you show up to one of his plays, he's stunned. You look the same as you did back then, like nothing had changed, other than your outfit. He decides to tell a tale about a memory that the both of you shared, and he can see the subtle look in your eyes, like him talking about it is reminding you of something. It gives him so much hope.
He gets your attention after the play and y'all talk, with you both exchanging numbers. You would begin to visit the theatre, talking about anything and everything. He's asking all sorts of questions, wanting to get to know the you of the present. He realizes that you may never remember your past life, and that you may have changed with your reincarnation, so he wants to know everything.
He begins to note all the differences and similarities you have with your past self. How you're much more reserved and anti-social, keeping to yourself and those you know. And yet, you're still kind to everyone and always willing to lend a hand. He IS happy that you're more apprehensive when it comes to those who give off bad vibes. He's also glad that your love for the arts hasn't changed a bit. More for you to converse about.
And you can't help but be pulled towards him. His sarcastic nature being playful to you and only you. Whispering kind words in your ears and flirting with you and you alone. The soft look in his eyes everytime he looks at you. Him only allowing you to hug him or hold his hand, and you being the only one who can brush his hair. That level of trust with him makes you feel like you're on cloud nine. But when you realize that you're falling in love, you're panicking-
And he's absolutely freaking out when you don't come by the next day. He's texting you, and though you say that you're fine and just busy, he can read between the lines. He can tell something's bothering you, so that night, he goes to visit you at your home. You're startled, but invite him in. After some back and forth, you blurt out your feelings. You're both shocked, and you refuse to look at his face.
When he hears your sniffles, he's quick to confess back, and you're still crying but stunned. You ask him why, telling him he can do so much better-but he won't let you say another word. He won't let you degrade yourself. He tells you that, to him, you're a goddess, and that you're perfect to him, which gets you all shades of red. Eventually, after talking it out, you get together.
He's not worried about anyone taking you away. He doesn't see them as a challenge, and if someone tries to flirt with you, he'll give them a glare as a warning. If they insult you, he'll have his shadows deal with the person in question. What he worries about most is if there's anyone dangerous around. He's not going to lose you again. He absolutely refuses. He'll tear down everything and everyone in this world if it means keeping you safe.
He decides to borrow steal two manfruits, a delicacy that can extend your life by 47,000 years. He eases you into the idea of prolonging your life, asking questions about what you thought and felt about it. You joked that as long as he'd have you, you'd eat one to stay with him for as long as you could. So when he presents them to you, you're understandably shocked. A part of you is happy that he looked for something this precious, just so that you two could stay together longer.
Remembering your past life would probably involve him saying a specific line from the past. Maybe you'll be on a stroll, and he holds your hands under the night sky. "You're my first and only love. No matter where you go, I'll always find you Moonlight." And then, it all hits you. He's scared at first, but when you look at him with those apologetic eyes, he knows that you remember and he's holding you as close as he can.
You're apologizing to him for that night even happening, but he keeps telling you that he's just glad that you're here with him again. The two of you go back home and he tells you what happened since you've been gone. His journey to find you, the things he's learned, even his vengeance with Wukong. You're worried about the latter, but he soothes your worries. He wants revenge, yes, but he's never going to put it above your relationship.
🔥RED SON🔥
Tumblr media
You, his precious childhood friend, stood by each other's side, fighting enemies together. Growing and becoming better with each other. He knew that you would be his spouse one day and proudly proclaimed it to everyone he knew. Of course, you believed that as well, and the both of you were never seen apart, other than when you had to go home and rest for the night. Both of your parents thought it was adorable.
He truly believed that you would stay together forever. But when you took a hit that was meant for him, he exploded, tearing down his enemy before cradling you in his arms. Your last words to him were to "find happiness". How could he find happiness if you weren't there!? He felt like a part of him had died that day.
His mother had tried to console him, but he would lash out. He didn't want to talk about it, since if he did, it felt like he would HAVE to move on! To move forward without you! It felt like it would be betraying YOU-The memories you made together-EVERYTHING! It...took him a while, but he did talk to his mother eventually and had at one point, moved on. His father, after being released, was informed of your death, and felt bad for his son. Maybe if he had been there, he could have stopped it...
It isn't until the New Year's Festival that you two meet again. You're strolling along, looking for something spicy, and you stumble upon their shop and place an order. As soon as he hears your voice, he's stunned. He thinks it's an illusion and tries to shake it off. But he turns to see you and drops the bowl. His father, upset, goes to scold him but sees you, and he too is stunned. It's like you had never died.
You're a bit confused, but ask for the menu, which DBK does while Red Son is still frozen, trying to process what he's seeing and hearing. You ask for the Boiling Lava and you're talking about how good it is. You're even more confused when the red head asks for your name in a hurried manner, but you answer, and that's when he truly knows that it's you.
When he flies off with the venom, you're right next to him. He NOT going to lose you again. So during the trip to the Celestial Realm, he's right by your side, and the others are confused, but he ignores them. At one point, you're looking at him, and he asks if he's got something on his face. "No! It's just... I don't know. I feel like I've seen you somewhere before." Oh my god his hope meter has crashed through the roof-
After that fiasco, he'll shyly ask for your number, which you give and y'all grow close right away. You share the same humor that you had back then and that big smile of yours still warms his heart, but to his surprise, you're hobbies are different than before, but regardless, he's willing to learn about them just for you. They bring you happiness, and your happiness, is his and his love for you only grows deeper.
You begin to adore his fiery personality, finding it adorable when he would blush at your compliments. You fawn over how cool you think his hair is, and when it bursts into flames, you're awestruck. His speeches are inspiring, and his nicknames for you make you swoon. And when you ask about his inventions, he's so excited to break it down for you. A lot of people feared him, but you never did. If anything, you felt pulled towards him, but you didn't mind one bit.
HE actually confesses first! He even set the day up and everything! You came over, he made dinner and steered the conversation to make the confession flow, instead of just nervously blurting out his feelings. When you discuss the reality of your short life and if he's sure, he gently holds your hands and looks at you with a determined gaze. "My Dear, I've never been so sure of anything in my entire life."
He definitely becomes more protective. If anyone even DARES to insult-even LOOK at you the wrong way-he's blowing up on them. One pat from you and it's like it never happened. If they FLIRT with you-ohmygosh they better prepare their funeral. You have to drag him away and remind him that you chose HIM. He makes it up with his cooking and hugs.
What would trigger you remembering your past life is a specific move he repeats. The two of you are training, and he does a specfic move that only him and your past self knew. Suddenly, your head starts to hurt, becoming more unbearable until you pass out. When you wake up, you're surprised. Both at being reincarnated and remembering everything. When he comes in and sees you crying, he's nervous and asking what's wrong. "I remember everything..."
It takes him a moment to process what you just said, but the moment he does, and he sees that distinct look in your eyes, he embraces you. You're both holding each other for the rest of the day, just holed up in his room, with the both of you whispering apologies and words of comfort. His parents are told the next day, and they're happy about the news! They see how happy the two of you are and, for a moment, it reminds them of the old days.
Sorry for any spelling/grammar errors! Hope y'all enjoy!

Can I request MK, Sun Wukong and Macaque with a GN!reader who got traveled into their world, they tried to support them through hard time and soon they got swooned by the reader?
Ty for taking this request:)
-KW anon 🥝
This is an old request. I have 3 other LMK requests and those requests will be the last of lmk. Sadly.
Tumblr media
Headcanon
Characters: MK, Sun Wukong, and Macaque.
MK
Shocked. WHAT HAPPENED!?
He's confused by the sudden portal that appeared out of no where after he defeated another demon.
He luckily confronted you in a friendly manner while you just panicked and confused.
He doesn't know what to do and brings you to his friends for some reason. DW Pigsy managed to calm you down:)
You told them what happened, most of them have no idea but presumably Tang is probably the one who tries to find a way to get you back since y'know... Maybe it's a magical legend?
In the mean time MK is very happy to have a new friend, he introduces to the rest of the gang and even Red son when that red dude comes around.
He tells you where you guys are and such while you're confused where your fingers went.
He loves to bring you to explore the city, most of it all is like in your world except for the demons and magical items.
Lemme tell ha, if ya got that chill inside you within a week both of you would be best friends ps he be fallin' for you;)
He loves you're so open, even as you both just meet to a weird phenomenal. You're still not weirded out about him carrying a random stick around.
You two be goofing around with Mei around the city with a death wish.
Sun Wukong
Mk brought you to Monkey king, introducing you and mentioning you're from another world which intrigued him.
Wukong will definitely try to find what kind of items/magic that ties with your sudden teleportation from another universe.
As he tried to search, both you and MK offer to help and go through the.. legendary items stash.
The longer you search, the longer your hope fades. Wukong noticed this and cheered you up with MK.
As you both spend time together more on trying to figure out your way home, the more Wukong grows fond of you, and the more he looks at you.. the more he falls deeper into his feelings.
On how you just laughed at every joke he makes to your smiles. He just can't himself but get swooned by you.
Even as you all couldn't find any answers or items that could help, at least the time of the day was a waste spending time together.
Macaque
He also learned about you through MK, regarding the ending of season 3, i guess they're on good terms. (Forgive me I haven't watched season 4 or 5 yet)
He's curious about you, and the fact about you coming from another world perked his interest.
Either you got bad vibes from him or are just neutral about him, he would not help you by any chances.
He doesn't want to get involved in any complicated situation, especially what has happened with LBD.
Though he would try to learn some clues or anything and give you the information to keep your hopes up on getting back home.
In some instances, he would visit your living space at night to tell you the information he got.
It may not be all the time or everyday, but he just got swooned by you on your personality on how you are so accepting about him.
Not caring about what MK told you about him, you brushed it off knowing it was just the past. He.. was touched.

The other various outfits of Morro in Noodle Shop Ghost. Took me ages to finish this, but I’m happy with how it turned out!!
More info on the specific outfit details under the cut!
Sleepwear
- This outfit is Morro’s pajamas from the start of the series to current.
- The moons are both to represent y’know, nighttime, but also as a way of foreshadowing the Macaque connection in the later seasons.
- Morro let’s their hair down when they sleep
- The shirt text says “Great Sage Equal to Heaven” I think I hope I’m not fluent in other languages so I really pray that I got that correct. The shirt references Morro’s love of JTTW, and the character of Wukong within the book
- Morro uses face masks when he sleeps. Hey, if they have to have skin again, they wanna take care of it. Ish.
Work Uniform
- The outfit changes between seasons since Morro gets new looks, but the constants of it are the jacket and the gloves.
- Morro swaps out the hand wraps because he feels more sanitary wearing gloves. And because I feel like it would make people unsure about him handling food.
- Occasionally Morro will throw on other pants? But idk I wasn’t sure what to go with so I just did their final design clothing.
“Take Responsibility” episode
- Finally have a name for that fan episode I mentioned where Morro has a crisis!! Takes place in season 1. Thank you @randomcrapstories !!!!
- The only thing that’s different about the outfit here is the addition of the jacket, which I still haven’t decided if I want it to be a gift from MK and Mei, or Morro just straight up stole it. Still, it shows us the base design for the jacket as it appears later in the series!!
Theatre Outfit
- During the in-between point of season 3 and 4, Morro actually starts helping out Macaque with his theatre! Morro’s a stagehand; they do a lot of the special effects and such.
- This outfit is mainly just me putting Morro in cool looking clothes hehe
- It’s identical to Mac’s outfit in most ways! I changed the shoes tho, and the colors. And the patterns on the robe and sleeves are different too!
- Eyeliner because it’s fancy
Shadow Travel
- I’ve mentioned before how Morro is learning shadow magic from Macaque; the basics that Morro knows are kinda just like. Being able to hide inside of shadows, manipulating them on walls and stuff, and also those shadow portals.
- Macaque has a shadow form, and so does Morro. But this isn’t a clone form or anything, that will be its own design. This is just for like…idk. Shrouded in shadows and whatnot.
- I highlighted the two most important features of Morro in this au: the eyelashes and the scar. The scar is its own important thing; the eyelashes are just a style choice on my end.
Season 3 Lantern City Outfit
- This outfit is for that episode in season 3 with the third ring!!
- The jacket makes an appearance once again! Except now Morro has personalized it much more. Patches and pins and stuff.
- The gloves Morro has on were made by Sandy; Sandy didn’t want Morro to get cold lol.
- And ofc Morro’s markings on full display since they weren’t able to cover them in season 3
Uhhh I think that’s everything. I’m gonna do another one of these for Morro’s scrapped/bonus designs at some point too. So look forward to that!

Just wanted to comment that I found your post about the five pillars of magic and who is proficient in which so incredibly interesting! I was actually kinda surprised that Little Star had no experience in Shadow because I’ve gotten the impression that Macaque had more of the role of teacher with them than Wukong did at that time, and he had MK delve into it a little, but I guess the circumstances were VERY different with Macaque actually training Star but manipulating MK to siphon his powers when they first met (actually intrigued about your take on that in the Constellations verse) but obviously you as the author have more info on the characters than we as the audience do.
Poor MK is the only one not proficient in an area yet 😭 but tbh considering he’s so young compared to the rest of them and has been training officially for even less (I guess approximately a year? Maybe more or less? Idk the timelines help) then I think he’s doing real good! My guess would be that he’s gonna master either Celestial or possibly Elemental first since I guess that’s some of what Wukong had been teaching him so far and we know MK takes after him a lot in certain areas? Plot twist would be if you have some mega angst planned and he ends up mastering Death first (I remember Wukong mentioning that the golden flowers of his birth might have appeared in the Underworld too?), orrrr maybe he’ll end up being a Jack of All Trades, Master of None? Anyway MK baby I believe in you 🧡
Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked that post, I should reblog it more so others can see 😭Macaque did have a strong role in training Little Star, but the prerequisites for training in shadow are difficult...and not exactly something that sounds fun. To Little Star, magic is fun first and foremost. I don't think they'd be interested (or patient enough) to train in shadow magic. Macaque would respect that.
Huh. 🤔If I had to explain in a constellations!way or how I see it happening, Macaque was manipulating the shadows in MK's heart and mind, pulling on that emotion of wanting to be a great student, powerful and cool enough so that Monkey King would be impressed by him. We know, at this point, that MK was wondering if Wukong thought he'd made a mistake in choosing MK as his successor. Macaque would've honed in on that feeling of inadequacy and used it to his advantage.
So, then, Macaque could give power to MK in that way. Once Macaque can control/see the shadows in someone's heart and mind, it's exceptionally easy for him to manipulate them. Macaque can give them nightmares, conversely, he can also prevent nightmares by this same manipulation (this will come up later). I'd like to think that he needs to have some feeling to go off of, y'know. A way to get his foot in the door. Training with MK in season 1 was Macaque finding that way in, and he grabbed hold of it, and...the reset of the episode happened. That's how I'd explain it, anyway. So MK doesn't know shadow magic formally. He's just felt it and somewhat controlled it...kind of.
No, MK is not proficient...yet. In Constellations, the first three seasons of the show took place in two years. Right now, in the epilogue, we are in...May! Of the third year (yes i have this fic planned down to the timeline, leave me alone). The epilogue will end in, roughly, September. MK will be training that whole time.
So he's been training for about two and a half years. I'd say he's making great progress! He's mastered the 72 transformations, and once he's directed his celestial magic to interact with all of the elements, he'll have crossed another milestone. For magic proficiency, we have to think...smaller. Like by individual spells. For an immortal, time is nothing. For MK? Every second counts, and he's learning fast. He's great at cloud-somersaulting already after his first attempt. That's fucking astounding since it even took Wukong some time to master. You're right that he's doing great!!
MK is focusing on celestial and elemental right now, yes. This will come up in chapter 6 of the epilogue. And! In chapter 3, Macaque and Wukong discussed the order of teaching MK the elements. In their minds, that means MK has a solid foundation in celestial magic, enough so that they can push him to do more elemental things.
Interesting that you'd mention death magic...what a plot twist that would be, indeed. 😁We'll have to see what happens. But! I do love the idea of MK being a jack of all trades. I just love characters like that. But, if I were to put a celestial primate in that category right now, it'd be Macaque. But that's just because he loves magic so much.
Wukong did say that MK's birth made golden flowers bloom in every realm (this is very important) along with an earthquake. So! Golden flowers from MK's birth are in the Underworld! Wonder what happened with them, huh.
Maybe we'll find out~ 😉

Distant Memory (Dark Shadowpeach) (Part 1)
Part 2:
Prompt: Macaque, finds a simple yet efficient way to keep Monkie King, in place.
TW: Lying, Imprisonment, Implied Abuse and Mentions of Torture, Struggling, Possessive Behavior, Kidnapping, and Toxic Unhealthy Mindset.
A/N: Admittedly speaking, I've rewritten this numerous times but I'm not satisfied with it—I just hope that it's understandable tho.
The scene for this story is a very old draft from my archived notes and thought I'd use it for this request & revise it, or try to. I just enjoy, recycling old and abandoned ideas. Like, taking them and using them for certain aspects of my stories.
--------------------------------------------------
The tall and unkempt grass tickled the King's legs which caused him to giggle cheerfully, The breeze, wafting with the scent of peaches, brushed against his skin, and patches of light brown fur.
A soft smile appeared on his face, when he heard small monkeys, following his trail, then proceeded to roll around the tall grass and attempted to catch the sage's attention, by making high-pitched noises or, offered his favorite pink coloured fruit.
He chuckled in amusement and took one bite, the sweet taste overfilling his tastebuds, making him more energized and got encouraged to dash across the meadows, jumping through rocks and Landing on boulders, to avoid the mud getting to his feet. The others, soon, followed him closely.
Wukong, was having the time of their life and enjoyed the sense of peacefulness that this mountain gave off. They never felt lonely, with his companions, and people, from afar worshipped him. The city even made numerous adaptations about him, that he'd binge-watch all those cheesy movies and series with his successor, every night, or when MK, had time too.
Near the waterfalls, The chestnut-hued monkey stopped in his tracks for a moment and glanced on top, to stare at the blue sky, the clouds rolling by forming shapes, into abstract blobs. It was a beautiful scenery that most people took granted, and he was no exception, but times like this, He tried to remind himself that 'little things should be valued' or, tried to follow it, the best he can.
When thinking about his previous self morals, The Self-Proclaimed Sage chuckled, but not like his usual vibrant and arrogant one, This one was more vain and just, plain bitter. The Immortal being, cursed himself greatly for hours on end for falling for the, most gullible tricks and opened his dried-up, eyes.
Almost losing that spark in his golden pupils.
Wukong slumped down, and uncomfortably leaned against the cold and grey concrete walls, as what he saw, was just a distant memory but honestly speaking., The once great king contemplated, whether it was a memory or just a dream, either way, It was the only thing that kept him going....To see the outside once more and run around the meadow before the unfortunate happens.
It didn't matter how much time passed, The determination and hope, in his eye, refused to leave him. Monkie King, trusted his prodigy enough that he'll come and rescue him from this dark realm.
There, was a lingering fear that he'd become a forgotten memory or someone that never existed in the first place, but couldn't voice out his thoughts about that internal to avoid getting heard by someone with six ears.
"Just a little longer" The, Former Great Sage's stylish blonde fur, was now disheveled and unkempt, multiple strands of it were sticking out due to the lack of grooming. "Kiddo, will come and save me"
No sound was heard, not even a droplet of water leaking, only his mumble about hope  The cellar was dark and secluded. The only light source his captor was kind enough to give was a wax candle that would lit up, whenever a certain someone might appear.
Speak of the devil, A six eared Monkey phased through the dark apparition, as if he was part of them and was just a ghastky figure with no solid body, The wax candle, lighting up and illuminated his more prominent feature.
"Did ya miss me, bud?" At every visit, Wukong wished it was his successor, MK, that actually came to rescue him instead of this sick bastard.
"Like, Hell I would" His captor, had a cocky smirk as usual, and  brought him a tray of food, specifically peaches but overtime, as the fruit was associated with the dark-furred monkey, The once great sage, began to loath it deeply.  "Just hearing you talk, gives me a headache"
The immortal being, wouldn't starve to death if he went on years, without having a crumb to eat but honestly, death was much better than having to see that coy smirk that bastard always had but knew he couldn't just give up on life even if he wanted to, He had to live, to see, to relive his old memories.
"Fiesty as usual. I, honestly prefer your more defenseless and unresponsive state."
There, were chains to keep the Monkey Demon captive and made sure to immobilize him, but to mostly make sure that he wouldn't beat Macaque to a pulp.
Of course, Simple chains, wouldn't lock this heaven wrecker down, for too long.
The problem, was the crown, painfully screwed on his head, It was a similar replica, to the artifact he wore when on a trip, with a monk. This one wasn't so painful as the original one but unfortunately, was enough to immobilize him for a short period of time.
The replica, was clamped tightly on his head, and would try to shrink by force, making it tighter by every passing minute, the bolts trying to pierce into his skull until a migraine formed.
What added pain to the bruise, was the mechanical crown, itself, was attached to a small device that sent lighting all over his body.
The shock, overpowered him, the excruciating pain, flowing all over his body, making it worse. It, was that single feature, which made it feel eerily similar to the original one, causing a surge of repressed memories to plague his mind. The represed memories, being his old companions.
It, was during those shock punishment, that made him remember them again, and this time. He, actually refused to repress the memories any longer and would, always remember them, not wanting his old crew to become a distant memory.
It was, some sort of coping mechanism, to help him deal with this .
But, that single second of invulnerability was enough for this bastard to seal him, and drag him away to the shawdows.
"Just screw off, Macaque. You're lucky that Red Boy even helped your sorry ass. If he haven't than you'd still be watching me like a creepy stalker"
Macaque paused for a moment, not saying a single word yet at that petty remark. Their steps were slow and it gave off a sophisticated vibe, per usual but they both knew it was all for show.
Just for the public eye, and to decieve others, wanting to represent himself as a misunderstood monkey, that was hurt.
But behind the closed doors, Macaque revealed his true colours behind, He was a cruel & heartless being. They, crouched down at Wukong's level and
kneeled down on one knee, tracing the long chain that wrapped around his 'beloveds' neck, with his tan-skinned fingers.
He, abruptly tugged on the neck chain which forced Monkie King to jerk forward, making him closer to Macaque's lips while he whispered in a low voice that was dripping with venom but was coated with sugar that can make anyone's teeth fall out. "Y'know, Maybe, You should stop those useless mumbling. MK, won't and will never save you"
"And, You should know..This isn't love" Wukong croaked, feeling his throat dry since he hasn't drank water, knowing the liquid was drugged with chemicals or whatever potions.
"Love is just a selfish desire to have someone"
Oh how naive they were to trust this monster and Wukong sighed defeatedly, feeling frustrated, since he was one of the many people that fell to Macaque's charm, that single ounce of pity led to his demise as in this secluded room, The six-eared demon, was just a boy who cried wolf.
The dark-furred monkey kept on taunting him, knowing what type of strings to pull on his hostage.  "If his, Oh so great mentor can't even rescue himself, then what can a kid do? "
" That kid—is better than me."
The closeness, made Wukong feel his warmth, but it made him feel disgusted but the feeling wasn't mutual for the other male.
"Well, I'm better than both of you combined" Macaque, spoke with such ease as if capturing a male and taking their free will was normal.
"I doubt that. Just wait till MK comes here, and kicks your ass, and we'll never have to see each other again" The anthropomorphic monkey, sent another petty remark, but what triggered his captor was the sentence
"Never, see each other again"
This time, There was a long pause.

HEADCANON FOR MONKIE KID
I originally thought of this idea when I read a post by jessadamsdraws: here’s the link. Also this turned into more of a short story but yeah.
MK’s known Wukong for longer than he realises
Wukong has been searching for a successor since he sealed the Demon Bull King, 500 years ago. He’s considered great warriors, scholars, kings and everyday citizens. As of yet none of them have the spark he’s been looking for.
He had all but given up on his, apparently, impossible task when one day his successor found him! He had been mooching through the city when he heard the police off in the distance, shouting “SOMEONE GRAB THAT KID!” Wukong was going to ignore them but startled when he felt someone crash into his legs and hug them tightly.
The someone was apparently a small child who was clinging to Wukong like his life depended on him. He could hear the police’s yelling getting louder and decided to quietly ask the kid “are they after you?” The kid sniffles and nods his head, still refusing to let go of Wukong’s legs, before sobbing “you’re the monkey king! You have to help me!”
Wukong is genuinely surprised, had the kid seen through his glamour? He didn’t have much time to consider it as the police came barrelling around the corner and instinctively Wukong bent down before bringing the kid into his arms and hugging him tightly as the kid wrapped his arms and legs around him. Then waiting until the police went rushing past to ask “how did you manage to get into so much trouble?” After a while the kid was brave enough to peak his head out from Wukong’s shoulder and mumbled “they said I stole something but I didn’t, I swear!” Wukong gently shushed him saying that he knows, “how about you point me to your house so I can take you home… and I promise I won’t mention the police!”
The kid nods and Wukong takes him back to his apartment. It’s not in the best of neighbourhoods and the wood of door to the flat is pealing away from water damage but the kid seems to be happy to be home. However, before watching him go into his home he asks “kiddo, how did you know I was the monkey king?” The kid tilts his head and says while pointing “because you have a monkey tail! You must be the monkey king!” Wukong looks at where he’s point and sees his tail flicking back and forth and wants to slap himself, that makes sense.
Wukong leaves but can’t stop thinking about his interaction with the kid. He was a very sweet kid but seems to end up getting into trouble… maybe he should check on him.
So, that how Mk ended up with a guardian angel… well, more like a guardian monkey. Wukong would visit Mk from time to time; staying out of sight because he didn’t want to interfere with the kids life, though he does drop off a few gifts (like a mysterious monkey king plush that appeared on MK’s bed one morning) or look out for him (like tucking him into bed when the kid falls asleep at his desk). He doesn’t even realise how long it’s been until the kid is getting his first job. Oh, Wukong couldn’t be prouder, his kid Mk has grow up so much!
He was prepared to watch the kid grow up from afar but then he hears about Redson’s plan to lift his staff and decides maybe he could just see if Mk could do it. So maybe he lures Mk to the cave and watches him to make sure he doesn’t actually get hurt and maybe he almost cries when Mk picks up the staff. We’ll never know.
Wukong has found his successor!

Power Conduit AU
Hey guys! Here's an AU i made up for Lego Monkie Kid (rather randomly might i add.) There is some shadowpeach (though its more of a past relationship right now) and spicynoodle here, and Mei is a pure chaotic gremlin (plz help i love her so much!)
So, how things go in this AU is that Macaque does make a deal with LBD like in canon, but the extra catch for him is that he wanted a child that was his and Wukong's, so LBD granted that wish. Qi Xiotian was the product of said wish, and was kept prisoner as an incentive for Macaque to do exactly what she asked without fail.
His fear of spiders was gotten from his years in her lair since they often taunted and tormented him relentlessly, but the day he escaped from that horrible place was the day he unintentionally met his soulmate, Red Son. During the sealing if the Sumari fire, MK sensed that something wasn't right and instinct took over, leading him to use his Ma's shadow portal and abilities to reach the pillar where the fire was being sealed.
Without hesitation, he, a tiny monkey jumped into the flames to hug Red Son and incidentally absorbed a piece of the sumari fire. When DBK caught the two in his hands, he could see the red string of fate shimmering between them. (im pretty sure that's also a chinese thing or a variation of it. I'll need to research. So this may be subject to change.)
After that, Macaque barely managed to take his baby back without the others knowing, (they were debating what to do with MK at this point and not completely watching him.) But LBD found an interesting feature of MK that she could not see before.
MK is capable of storing large amounts of power comfortably, (hence the AU name Power Conduit) and a piece of the Sumari fire barely scratched the surface on his capacity. LBD planned to use MK for her goals, something Macaque did NOT agree with at all. So he helped his son escape, staying with LBD in order to keep her off his sons tail for as long as possible.
However, she did make a collar-like device for MK to keep the flame in a dormant state. I don't have an exact idea, but the jist is some sort of metal collar with cloth and chain attached to a sealing ring on the end. MK only has one piece of the fire, and there's now five in total. His goal after running away is to find all the pieces of the fire and free his ma.
Red Son and Mei also make an appearance and tag along with MK on his quest, and the other two have more demonic/draconic features, like Red Son having cow hooves and Mei having a dragon tail.
So the young group set out to steal the rings and free Macaque. I should mention that the stoplight trio are very young during this AU, like 5-7 perhaps?
Mk has dark brown fur with some orange streaks in it, four ears, and i gave him a longer tail instead of two like some artists do just to differentiate him from other designs.
MK is still a no thoughts head empty baby though, Mei is absolutely chaotic and bored (a deadly combination) and Red Son is the only one in the group with a working braincell.
Red Son has Autism and MK has ADHD (and is still trans, let's not forget that.)
And all the adults are scrambling to figure out 'who are these children?' 'Where are their parents?' And 'WHY are they after the rings?'
This is all i have so far and its a basic jist of my thought proccess. I hope ya'll like it! Any ideas, thoughts or constructive critiscism are appreciated.

When the Poppy Blooms
🥀Chapter 8
Just wanted to give a quick warning that there are spoilers for The Lotus Maiden if you've haven't read after book 1: chapter 8 of that story. That being said, if you don't want The Lotus Maiden's plot to be spoiled for you, I suggest waiting to read this chapter until you've caught up in the other story. If you don't care that's ok too. It's your life, you don't have to listen to me. I hope you guys enjoy! 😊
Looking around the small apartment, Red Son could already tell that it was much more cleaner than the last time he visited. He still found the place dreary, even more so when he noticed the futon Y/N had been sleeping on the night he came was folded back into a couch. But the demon was pulled from those thoughts when the young woman returned to him, holding out a steaming cup of tea towards him. Red Son grabbed it, already smelling the sweet aroma of peaches.
“I’m sorry about what happened down there.” Red Son looked up from the tea when he heard Y/N speak. “I wasn’t actually expecting Mk to return so soon, and especially not with the Monkey King… I haven’t really found a way to explain to them how you’ve been helping me…”
“I see…” Red Son grumbled, his mood still a tad sour from the encounter. “I am not surprised with the welcome that I got, you’re pig boss there didn’t seem too thrilled either.”
“Pigsy means well, he’s just worried, y’know? After you kinda kidnapped me he’s been sort of a mother hen.” Y/N explained, fiddling with the string of her teabag. “Mk is the same way, he probably wouldn’t have been able to handle another loss…”
“What do you mean?” Red Son asked, raising a brow as the young woman bit the side of her cheek.
“It’s nothing, just something that can wait for another day.” Y/N weakly smiled, grabbing the pendant around her neck. “I can’t believe how well this worked, I feel like things are back to normal because of this.”
“The Demon Bull Family is very well respected. Only an idiot would try and go against my family’s wishes.” Red Son uttered before sipping his tea. “No one wants the Demon Bull King as their enemy.”
Y/N hummed in response, the flame demon glancing up towards her as she sipped from her own tea. He noticed the bruising under the young woman’s eyes then, and the memory of their conversation the night before came flooding back into his mind. Y/N looked exhausted, even paler from the night Red Son had visited her apartment.
“Last night you mentioned something about nightmares… How long have they been happening?”
“Probably since we first got acquainted?” Y/N grumbled, staring into her cup. “The first nightmare actually happened when I knocked myself out… didn’t help when I woke up to the legendary Monkey King leering over me though…”
“I have heard rumors of Sun Wukong knowing the last maiden… he might’ve been concerned-“
“Wait, excuse me?” Y/N whipped her head his way, eyes wide at Red Son’s statement. “The heck you mean by that?!”
“Well, I don’t know the actual details, but there are rumors that the Monkey King was responsible for the last Lotus Maiden never appearing and-“
“HE ATE HER?!” Y/N screeched as she stood from the couch.
“What?! No! Well… I don’t know!” Red Son stammered, watching as Y/N whipped her cellphone out from her pocket.
The flame demon watched as she viciously tapped at her screen before bringing the device to her ear. Red Son quietly drank his tea as he watched the young woman pace in front of him.
“Is Monkey King with you?!” Y/N finally growled into the phone, the flame demon slightly hearing Mk’s stammering voice on the other end. “Put him on the phone! … Then put the phone on speaker because I am very pissed and he needs to answer some shit right now! … WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT KNOWING THE LAST MAIDEN?!”
Red Sun knew he stirred something when he could hear Wukong’s voice on the other end of the phone now. The sage was stammering the same way Mk had been, and the flame demon was silently wondering if the Monkey King had gotten on bad terms with the young woman who was currently chewing him out. Whatever Wukong was telling Y/N seemed to make her even more upset by the way her scowl deepened.
“No, I’m not going to tell you who I heard this from! Spew in the silence the same way I had to!” Y/N hissed before hanging up the phone. The young woman released a growl before turning towards the flame demon once more. “My brother was chosen to be the protégé of this god-like being, why is the said being worse than a stubborn toddler?!”
Y/N’s rant was interrupted when both the demon and the young woman heard the window near Mk’s bed slide open. They turned to see the boy walk from around the corner, being followed by an orange bird. Red Son watched as the bird shifted into the Monkey King’s regular form before landing on the carpeted floor with a soft thump.
Wukong noticed the flame demon sitting on the couch and immediately glared towards Red Son as the demon looked away to sip at his tea again. The sage sighed before crossing his arms over his chest and shaking his head.
“I guess I shouldn’t be surprised…” Wukong grumbled before looking back up towards Y/N. “Look, I was going to tell you. I just didn’t want to say something too soon-“
“That’s not the problem, Sun Wukong!” Y/N cried out, gripping the sides of her head as her eyes widened in panic. “I…I literally have no idea who to even trust anymore! What made you think waiting was a good freaking idea?!”
“Y/N, I don’t think he meant-“
“No, Mk, it doesn’t matter if he meant anything by this or not!” Y/N hissed before turning her gaze back to Wukong. “Do you even care that I’ve been having nightmares?! Or that there’s probably been something stalking me outside the noodle shop?!”
“Someone’s been following you?!” Mk exclaimed, his eyes wide as he clenched his hands at his sides. “Is it the one you told us about? The one who grabbed you on the fire escape!”
“Why are we only caring about this now?! I mentioned this weeks ago and we have done nothing! ”
“You never mentioned that you thought you were being stalked!” Wukong voiced, his tone more serious than what Red Son was used to. “If I had known something like that was happening I wouldn’t have left you alone!”
“How is me mentioning someone possibly stalking me making you care now?!”
“I’ve always cared about this, Y/N! I want you to have as normal a life as you can without the fear of feeling like a target all the time!” The sage’s voice was unsteady as his eyes widened with concern. “Why didn’t you mention any of this before?!”
“Who the hell was I supposed to talk to?! I don’t know who to even talk to about these things with without pulling them into danger! I don’t even know if my own brother is safe around me! ” Y/N exclaimed, her voice louder than before. “Red Son has been the only person who’s actually given a damn about this whole situation and is actually trying to do something! He’s the guy who tried to kidnap, how fucked up even is that?!”
Y/N had begun to laugh softly, tears welling at the corner of her eyes as she turned away from the sage and her brother. Red Son noticed the dread the young woman was harboring in her eyes as she removed her hands from her hair and proceeded to hug herself tightly. Her breathing had become erratic and her body would shudder every so often.
“I’m going to die… I’m going to get torn apart just like the damn dream and I don’t know if it might be you or not! I’m literally going to disappear and no one will probably care-“
Red Son stood then, dropping his cup in the process, and gripped the young woman’s shoulders. She looked up at the flame demon staring back at her, tears now streaming down her cheeks. The fear in her face alone caused a tightness to build in the demon’s chest as he stared into her eyes.
“You are not going to die and you are not going to disappear.” Red Son said lowly, watching as the young woman’s erratic breathing began to settle. “No one in this room is going to let that happen, I am not going to let that happen.”
“Y/N, I’m sorry…”
Both Red Son and Y/N turned towards Wukong’s broken voice, the flame demon shocked when he saw the sage’s eyes filled with such sorrow. The Monkey King approached the young woman, wrapping his arms tightly around her and burying his face in her hair. Y/N was frozen in his embrace, the sage seemingly shaking as he tried to contain himself.
“Her name was Eu-Meh, and she was one of my dearest friends.” Wukong’s voice shuddered, his fingers gripping at the fabric of Y/N’s shirt. “I just want you to live like she did, not afraid and always excited for the next day. I never meant for you to live a life only plagued by fear.”
The sage’s grip loosened before gently pulling himself away from the girl, his form quickly shifting into the orange bird once more before flying out of the apartment. Mk chased the bird towards the window, before stepping back. The Monkey King was gone, and Red Son could only stare in wide-eyed shock as he took in the sage’s revelation.
“I…I wasn’t expecting that…” Mk muttered as he returned to Y/N and Red Son. “Y/N… are you ok?”
“I…I don’t know anymore.” Y/N muttered before turning back towards Red Son. “I’m sorry our hangout ended up like this…”
“This was probably something that needed to be said.” Red Son sighed, glancing towards Mk as he watched the boy wrap an arm around his sister. “Now we need to discuss the new problem.”
“New problem?” Mk asked, raising a brow as Red Son scowled.
“We need to figure out who's been following Y/N.”

👀 New ship? More Peachpig/Monkenoodles with A52, B72, B74 and B94?
New ship! I’m mostly calling it peachpigshipping but I’m tagging it as monkenoodles too.
AO3 link
A52. “Did you just smile?” B72. “Am I dreaming or did you just say you like me?” B74. “Have I ever told you how cute you are?” B94. “Oh my god, you like [Name]!”
Pigsy placed a wet rag on the bar and began scrubbing while Sandy rambled on about his day, the chef made sure to nod and murmur at certain points to affirm he was paying attention. He enjoyed hearing the big guy’s rambling, it was a great stress reliever after dealing with customers.
“So I visited big brother Wukong for some tea.” That statement made the pig’s ears perk up and a small smile appeared on his face, the smallest mention of the monkey made his heart leap. He bit his lip to suppress the grin. When Sandy’s voice died down all of a sudden, the pig lifted his chin up to see the demon with his tilted slightly to the right and an eyebrow raised. “Why did ya stop?”
The demon met his question with one of his own. “Did you just smile?”
“What?”
“Did you just smile when I mentioned Wukong?”
“No,” he said in an unconvincing manner. “Why would I?”
“Okay… So my big brother told me…” Another smile. “You did it again!”
“No, I didn’t!”
“Uh huh. You’ve been doing that a lot lately, Pigsy. Smiling when my big brother talks to you or you hear about him, blushing when he touches you, giving him a break by not yelling at him all the time. Oh. OH! Oh my gods, you like Wukong!”
“Shad-Shaddup,” he exclaimed as his face turned a rosy red.
“Awwww! That’s adorable! Right, Mo?” He asked the cat on his shoulder with Mo giving an approving meow in response.
“Shush! I just think he’s cute. That’s it.”
“You like my older brother,” Sandy teased in a sing-songy voice. “If it’s any consolation, he likes you too.”
“What?”
“Yea. I was talking to him-”
“Wow. Ya talk to your brother, what a shocker, Sandy.” His voice dripped with sarcasm.
Sandy rolled his eyes. “I was talking to him and he mentions you a lot. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him happier than when he talks about you. You make him happy.”
His mouth went dry. Wukong talked about him? “Are ya sure?”
“Completely. I know my brother. You should ask him out!”
Ask him out? ASK HIM OUT? He couldn’t do that. “No! I am not doin’ that! Certainly there’s better options than me. I’m-”
Sandy cut him off by saying, “One of the best people I know.”
His eyes became soft. “Sandy…”
“It’s true. You know even with your bitter beginnings, he likes you. There’s something different about him when he’s with you. I could set you up on a date.”
“A date?!” He massaged his neck. “No! No! I couldn’t ask that of you and ya could be mistaken. Maybe he just thinks of me as a really good friend.”
Wujing looked at him as if he was an idiot and for some reason, it felt familiar. Wait, why did it feel familiar? Oh well. “Good friends don’t blush when they ramble on about their friend’s stunning blue eyes or their “friend’s” adorable passion for noodles. Huh, Pigsy?”
He blinked. “Ya got a point… but are ya sure?”
“YES! Now can I please set you up on a date? I could set up a romantic cruise.”
“NO! Sandy, I love you. I really do but I don’t want to get my hopes up.”
“Please. Let me set you up on a date. I want you and my big brother to be happy.”
“Sandy!”
“Pleaasseeeee!” His bottom lip quivered while his hands clasped together and he gave his best puppy-dog eyes.
The pig sighed and pinched the bridge of his snout. “Fine. One date!” He put up a finger to emphasize his point. “If this goes south, I’m blamin’ ya.”
“It won’t.” He squeezed the pig and cradled him from side to side. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You won’t regret this,” he shouted and ran out of the shop.
The pig gave an exasperated sigh. “I’m goin’ to regret this,” he said and went back to cleaning.
-----
Pigsy tugged on the collar of his blue flannel. Why did he agree to this again?
In the middle of Sandy’s boat was a table covered by cloth with candles on each side along with petals scattered across it. He crept forward but paused when he spotted a familiar monkey talking with Sandy who was in black and white suit with his hair combed back.
Wukong was wearing an orange button up and tan pants, a monkey necklace around his neck, he looked so handsome.
The pig’s face burned, he needed to go home and change right now! Maybe he could slip out before they noticed him. He spun himself and took a step when he heard a shout from Wukong, “Pigsy!”
He turned back with his shoulders hunched to see Wukong right in front of him smiling and Sandy by his side with a smirk. “Hey, Wukong. Hey, Sandy! You look, nice, Wukong,” he complimented.
The monkey’s cheeks were a deep pink. “Thanks. You look nice too.”
“Thanks…”
Sandy huffed and nudged his older brother. “Hm?” The demon made a gesturing motion. “Oh!” He passed a bouquet of roses to the pig. “Here.”
The pig eagerly took it with a grin and took a big whiff of the flowers. “Thanks. I didn’t take you as a ‘give people flowers’ type of guy. Cliche much?”
The king barked out a laugh.“Well the cliches are good when you’re trying to impress someone,” he stated with a wink.
Pigsy’s face flushed further. They stood there grinning at the other before Sandy said, “Okay, love birds. Come on. Follow me.”
The three walked towards the table with Wukong pulling up a chair for Pigsy. “Here you are.”
“Such a gentleman,” he teased as he sat down.
Wukong’s smile in response was blinding, he pushed the chair closer towards the table and he took the seat across from the chef. Sandy glanced between them. “Do you guys want anything specific to eat?”
“No, little brother, anything is fine.”
“Yea. I’m good with anythin’.”
“Alright. I’ll be right back. But first.” He pulled out a bottle of peach wine and poured it in their glasses. “There. I’ll be back,” he exclaimed and ran off, in the background, classical music started playing.
Silence lingered between the two until Wukong lifted his wine glass to his lips and drank. “You know I only drink wine on special occasions.”
“So I’m a special occasion?” He asked shyly.
“Yea, you are.” Pigsy ducked his head at the reply. “Have I ever told you how cute you are?”
“Wh-what?” Wukong thought he was cute?
“I’m glad you agreed to go on a date with me.”
“Ye-yea. Me too. That you agreed, I mean. Didn’t think ya would.”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“I don’t know…. Just didn’t really believe Sandy when he told me you were interested.”
“Of course I am. I like you.” Pigsy choked on air. “Pigsy?”
“Am I dreamin’ or did you just say you like me?”
Awww. I’m flattered you have dreams about me but no, you aren’t dreaming. I’m serious. I like you. In fact, I got another gift for you.” He reached inside for a box. He opened it to reveal a golden bracelet with an orange and red gem in the middle. A courtship bracelet.
Pigsy’s heart thumped rapidly. “Wukong…It’s beautiful. I- like you too.”
“Can I put it on you?”
“Obviously.”
The king’s tail wagged, he skipped over to the pig and placed the bracelet around his wrist. The pig rotated it. “It looks wonderful on y- mmmm…” He didn’t have time to finish that sentence when he was gripped by his shirt and pulled into a kiss.
“Sandy! I’m here,” MK shouted as he stepped onto the boat. “Want to hang out? Wait… flowers, candles, soft music playing. Am I trapped in the calabash again?!” He gasped then ran off. No way was he going on a date with a fake Mei!
The two didn’t notice he was there, they separated with love present in their eyes until Sandy brought out a plate of spaghetti. The date was filled with laughter and handholding with Sandy smirking on the sidelines.
A few days after their date, Sandy decided to go back to his brother’s mountain for some quality time, not saying a word when a silver band with a pink gem was clear on his brother’s wrist.

"If he does end up actively causing MK harm she is gonna physically fight him out of rage..." Does Qi Xiaotian ever tell Jade Face about this AU's version of the Macaque incident? Wukong's stalker actively trying to kill Jade's kit might be enough for her to go full fox and hunt Wukong down.
Wukong does end up training Xiaotian properly with the supervision of either PJF or one of her other trusted court members (they’re not like right in the same room usually tho) but in my AU Xiaotian isn’t as a goofball, he still loves having fun and chilling but he’s got an active job within a company brand that has a lot more daily stresses than delivery, so he has that level of self discipline in which he can handle more power
Sun Wukong still kinda like dulls it down but to two thirds instead of the halfway it was, so MK can like, heal faster than usual, he takes hits easier, his transformations/cloning comes easier (and with less hair being pulled blESS UP) and his true sight is more quick on the draw.
However PJF kinda begins to watch him more like a hawk, definitely encourages more free time strictly with Mei and Red Son, and is a bit more prying which kind of makes Xiaotian like “okay I feel like this is too much but I don’t wanna disappoint PJF or like make her mad or something! I can do this it’s fine!” And also with the confrontation PJF had with Wukong he’s taking it a bit more serious (not as much lol) and treats him like he would teach a child ig?
So when this new monkey just appears in the city (with less of a fight and more of a cool older person vibe) MK doesn’t really tell anyone abt it because “omg someone I can talk to who treats me like an adult AND can train me! Hell yeah!” but also Macaque slowly gets him to pull away from everyone else sorta *does that lil “kinda” hand gesture* they do actually have like a slight bonding moment because Xiaotian mentions his fear of abandonment and Macaque just goes “oh shit, I know EXACTLY what you mean.”
Ig it kinda goes the same after, Macaque uh, irl downloads (lol???) Xiaotian’s monkey power, Wukong comes in fighting, and then Xiaotians monkey power comes BACK yadda yadda, but there are some more nuances ig in Xiaotian feeling betrayed by an adult he thought he could trust who he OPENED up to, Red Son and Mei like actively go to meet him after Wukong patches him up (theres no like DBK and Lady Bone Demon thing yet so no citywide panic) and they’re there for him while he just breaks down ig.
When he goes back to PJF’s court she asks him if he’s good because he seems kinda down and immediately he decides not to tell her anything. He does NOT want to open up again just to have backlash, especially with someone he cares about like Jade Face. So he just says “it was hard yards you know? That weekend training was tough!” and they leave it at that, with PJF not knowing (until maybe much later) and MK not wanting to share how he feels anymore and slowly growing this emotional chasm between them.
Also Macaque kidnapped the court member who PJF sent to watch over Xiaotian (who also unfortunately agreed to go because it was on the way before they were to go on a trip to see their family friend in India oops.) and now they’re just stuck with this monkey who is having an inner dilemma about betraying a kid he was actually kind of sorta maybe bonding with. The court member is both scared and also pitying this dumbass.

Sparkling Laughter
the giggle glow au is the only thing keeping me sane right now
Word Count: 2.6k
Read on Ao3
MK hadn't really noticed it at first.
Between always being in a brightly lit area and mainly focusing on training, it wasn't exactly like he saw Wukong laugh often.
So maybe it took him a while to notice.
But after he noticed, it was kinda hard to miss.
Wukong straight up glowed when he laughed.
And MK didn't mean that figuratively. No, he meant it very literally.
A single chuckle was enough to get Wukong glowing like a nightlight. Full out laughter could very nearly light up a whole room.
"You know, the stories never mentioned that you glow." MK said, one day, a few monkeys climbing all over him. The monkeys messing his hair up was what had prompted Wukong to start laughing in the first place, and MK figured there was no better time than the present to bring it up.
"It was never really something that others deemed important, I guess." Wukong said, shrugging, still faintly glowing with a few remaining chuckles as he helped remove some of the monkeys from MK. "It's definitely not showstopping or cool, so it was just left out."
"I think it's neat." MK said, "You're kinda like... a light up toy or something."
"Hm, not sure how I feel about that comparison." Wukong said, pulling the last monkey off of MK's shoulders, and ruffling MK's hair, fixing the mess the monkeys had left it in. "There you go, bud, all good as new."
"Thanks, Monkey King." MK said, scooping up his bag from where he'd laid it on the ground, summoning the staff and getting ready to vault back to the city. "Y'know, we are just doing game night tonight. You're welcome to join if you want to-"
"It's fine, I've got something to do tonight." Wukong said, giving MK a smile that didn't feel...fully real. "You go have fun with your friends."
MK slowly nodded, not fully believing Wukong, but figuring that arguing would probably get him nowhere. So he turned, jumping off of Flower Fruit Mountain, and leaving Wukong all by himself.
-
Two months later, on the ship, Mei found a game of Twister in one of the closets.
It hadn't taken much to convince everyone else to join in, that is, other than Macaque, who insisted on not taking part. Not even 4 minutes into the game, Red Son forcibly kicked Wukong out, on the grounds that his tail gave him an unfair advantage. This left only Tang, Pigsy, Sandy, MK, Mei, and Red Son on the Twister mat.
Macaque lazily spun the spinner with his tail.
"Left hand blue." He said, voice a complete deadpan. Mei moved to reach over across MK-
And Tang fell down, bringing Pigsy down with him, who accidentally bumped into Red Son, who, knocked off balance, fell into Mei, who fell down on top of MK.
In the end, only Sandy was left still in 'standing', the others in a pile on top of the twister mat.
".....Sandy wins?" Macaque said, a questioning lilt in his voice, prompting MK to look over at him-
Which caused him to notice the expression on Wukong's face.
It suddenly struck MK that within the one week everyone had been on the ship, Wukong had yet to laugh, which in hindsight was rather concerning, but right now that meant that the other's didn't know-
"Uh guys? You might want to shield your eyes." MK said, barely managing to say it before-
Wukong burst out laughing, doubling over, and lighting up like a flashlight, accompanied by a few sparkles shining in the air. Macaque startled at the sudden noise, and ended up falling off the couch, which just made Wukong laugh harder, glowing brighter as a result. The others yelped at the sudden brightness, MK's warning not having registered in time.
Wukong, registering the fact that he was currently blinding the others, calmed down a little, the glow lessening as he went from full out laughter to soft chuckles.
"S- sorry I just-" He started, clearly trying to keep himself from falling back into hysterics again. "You looked so funny I just- I couldn't help it-"
Mei was the first to manage to blink the residual spots out of her vision and register what had just occurred.
"You glow?!" She asked, incredulous, the others also sporting similar expressions of surprise.
Things proceeded to go downhill from there, questions getting thrown out without any answers. At some point, in the chaos, Wukong straight up left the room without anyone noticing he was gone until Macaque pointed it out.
Of course, after a day or so, the hype of the new information had died down a little.
But not completely.
-
It was early morning, and almost everyone was in the kitchen. Mei and MK on their phones, Pigsy working on breakfast, Sandy pouring some tea, Red Son sipping some coffee, Tang reading a newspaper, and Wukong leaning against the kitchen wall, looking lost in thought. (They'd all long since learned it was pointless to try to wake Macaque up, he was not a morning person.)
Overall, it was an average morning.
And then Wukong started giggling, glowing softly. He was clearly lost in thought, probably completely forgetting where he was at the moment. Mei looked up from her phone to glance over at him.
"What, did you think of something funny, 'Sparkle Snickers'?" Mei asked, and Wukong-
Wukong's giggling abruptly cut off as became aware of where he was again, and as soon as he registered what Mei had just said, he looked away, rubbing the back of his neck in a flustered motion.
It took a moment for the others to connect the dots.
"Oh you've got to be kidding me." Mei said, an evil smirk appearing on her face. "Glitter Gleam."
Wukong's tail waved back and forth in a nervous gesture.
"Giggly Nightlight."
A nervous smile formed on Wukong's face.
"Twinkle Toes-"
"Okay, stop." Wukong said, a hand covering his face, a faint blush visible on the tips of his ears. MK almost felt bad for him, but at the same time...
"C'mon, after everything I've tried teasing you with, nicknames about your Giggle Glow is what gets to you?" Mei asked, laughing a bit herself as Wukong squeaked as the word "giggle glow" left her mouth. "Seriously? This is what embarrasses you?"
"It's not embarrassing-" Wukong said, which was a sentence nobody really believed, considering the way he still wouldn't look at them and the fact that the faint blush still hadn't faded. "It's just, not....cool, y'know?"
"No, I don't know." Mei said, leaning forwards on her elbows. "Please, enlighten me."
Wukong stuttered, clearly trying to figure out how to explain it, as MK set his phone down on the table.
"Is that why the stories don't mention that you glow?" MK asked, "You don't think it's cool, which, by the way, it totally is, but since you believe it isn't you got them to cut it out cause you're embarrassed over it?"
"It's not cool! And I'm not embarrassed!" Wukong denied, fur bristling as the others leveled him with a look that clearly showed that they didn't believe that statement one bit. He looked around the room, registering everyone's expressions-
He could tell they weren't going to let him live this down.
So he did the first thing he thought of.
He turned and ran away, hitting the light switch as he did so, sending the room into complete darkness so no one could see where he went.
"Wh- hey!" MK cried out, standing up and fumbling for the light switch. As he did so, he heard a thump, a muffled yelp, and a door shut, but he was mainly focused on trying to find the stupid light, why could you never find it when you need it-
The light switched back on, revealing that MK had been a good distance away from it. Macaque stood beside it, looking confused.
"What is going on?" He asked, looking confused.
"Monkey King ran away over something stupid." Red Son said, filling the shadow monkey in on the situation.
"So, what, you're all going to go look for him?" Macaque asked, sighing when the others nodded in response. "I should've expected that...."
"C'mon! You can search with us!" Mei said, grabbing hold of Macaque's arm and dragging him with her, MK and Red Son following close behind. Tang, Pigsy, and Sandy opted to stay in the kitchen, in case Wukong ended up circling back. MK, Mei, Macaque, and Red Son ended up walking through the halls, keeping an eye out for any sign of the Monkey King.
"Couldn't you just, y'know, use your hearing to find him?" Red Son eventually asked Macaque, who stumbled a little at the question, having not expected to be addressed.
"Who, me?" He asked, looking...oddly nervous. "Nah, he has ways of getting around it anyways."
"...Are you sure?" MK asked, now feeling just the slightest bit suspicious. "I remember you saying that you could hear anything-"
"I'm sure! I won't be any help here, I assure you!" Macaque said, shrinking down a bit as the three continued to stare at him.
"Y'know, you've seemed a little off this morning...." Mei said, and Macaque scratched the side of his face nervously. "Are you....okay?"
"What? Oh, I'm fine." Macaque said, chuckling nervously- and immediately realizing his mistake, as a faint glow resonated from him for a few moments. It wasn't long, but it was enough.
"Monkey King." MK said, and Wukong turned, dropping the Macaque glamour as he ran down the hallway, the trio chasing after him. he rounded a corner, and the trio turned to follow, but MK paused, hearing a faint banging coming from the closet door. He stopped, letting the others continue to chase Wukong, and turned, opening the door-
And the real Macaque tumbled out, onto the floor.
"I'm going to kill him." He mumbled, distractedly letting MK help him stand up. "He locked me in the closet. I'm going to kill him."
"Yeah, maybe save the murder for later." MK said, turning to follow where he'd seen the others gone.
-
He eventually found them, standing in the common room, looking around them with a healthy does of suspicion.
"Where'd he go?" MK asked.
"We know he hasn't left this room. Red Son made sure of it." Mei said, Red Son holding up a tablet to show he'd hacked into the ship's security systems. "But as for where in this room he is...."
"...As much as I hate this, I've got an idea." Macaque said, the others looking at him with mild shock. "Don't look at me like that, I'm only doing this because it'll be funny, and cause I wanna get revenge on him for locking me in a closet."
"The floor is yours." Red Son said, doing an over dramatic bow as he said it. Macaque rolled his eyes (and MK mentally decided to bring up the shadow monkey's own dramatics later-) but he stepped forwards, into the center of the room.
A shadow clone appeared, slowly emerging from Macaque's own shadow. It stood there for a moment, still, before turning and merging with a shadow on the wall.
A few seconds passed.
And then a faint glow, as well as some muffled giggling, came from behind one of the cabinets. MK quickly moved forwards, reaching behind it-
And pulling out a doll-sized Monkey King, holding him up by the edge of his clothes.
Wukong squeaked, quickly switching back to his usual size, sending MK a bit off balance, and trying to run away, but MK refused to let him, holding tight to the edge of Wukong's outfit. It took a few minutes of struggling, (which Macaque clearly enjoyed, if his own muffled laughter was anything to go by.), but eventually Wukong gave up, sighing as he fell down onto his back, laying there, defeated. Mei and Red Son moved to stand closer to him, and MK lightly nudged him with his foot.
"You ready to admit that your Light-up Laughter is cool now?" He asked, and Wukong groaned, rolling over so that his face was hidden by the floor.
"Stop giving it stupid names!" He whined, "And it's not cool!"
"I should warn you." Macaque said, sitting down on the nearby couch, "You're not going to make much progress on this. He was like this even back when we we're 'friends'. I'm surprised he didn't grow out of it, honestly."
"You shut up." Wukong hissed, sitting up a little just to glare at Macaque before going back to laying face down on the floor. "I should've never let myself laugh in front of any of you."
Well. That sentence was, on some level, mildly concerning, but MK decided to brush past it for now.
"Aw, c'mon Monkey King." Mei said, kneeling down and poking Wukong's arm, repeatedly. "You can't just mope over a few nicknames forever."
"Watch me."
"If you keep this up, we'll have to start calling you the emo monkey, instead of Macaque." Red Son said.
"Should I be offended by that?" Macaque asked, "I feel like I should be offended by that-"
Wukong didn't respond, continuing to lay face down on the floor. Mei continued poking his arm. After a few minutes of consideration, MK started to lightly nudge Wukong as well. Red Son knelt down beside MK to start poking Wukong in the back with a pencil he'd found on a nearby desk. Macaque watched this go down with thinly veiled amusement.
After a few moments of no response from Wukong though, Macaque sighed, standing up and making his way over. Silently, he created a few pairs of sunglasses, handing them off to each member of the trio, indicating for them to put them on. A bit confused, but willing to go along with it, they complied, sliding the glasses over their eyes. Macaque, having affirmed that their eyes were protected, slid his own pair of sunglasses on, then looked down at Wukong, contemplating.
And then he leaned down and skittered his fingers behind Wukong's knee. The reaction was immediate, Wukong squeaking before breaking into loud laughter, lighting up like a beacon, sparkles shining all around him. It was nearly bright enough to make the trio shield their eyes, even with sunglasses. Wukong kicked his leg out, very nearly missing hitting Macaque in the face, rolling over and getting up, practically scrambling to get away from the other monkey.
"Don't do that." He hissed, once he'd managed to get a hold of himself, the light dimming and vanishing completely. (Mei, quietly, mumbled something about wishing she'd gotten that on camera.)
"Either you stop moping around and accept the facts about your, what did Mei call it- right, 'Giggle Glow'-" Macaque said, giving Wukong a threatening look. "Or I tickle you again. Your choice."
".....Fine. Fine!" Wukong said, "It's cool! Whatever! Can we just drop this already?!"
-
They didn't drop it. They very much didn't drop it.
Whenever Wukong so much as lightly chuckled, someone would comment on the glow. At some point, he genuinely considered the idea of just never laughing in the others presence ever again, but that plan was quickly laid to rest-
The others were just. Too. Funny.
"Kill me." Wukong muttered, his face on the table, a faint glow still surrounding him from residual laughter. "You guys are going to kill me."
"Yep, that's the plan!" Macaque called from the door way. "Can't believe it took you so long to figure that out, Sparkling Peach-"
"I hate all of you."

Six Eared Shadow
Do you remember the analysis about Mei and Red Son? That was me, and I'm doing this again, but now about Macaque and Sun Wukong
Because what the heck why do they hate each other so much
Tumblr media
Ok, so this... This is such a messy chaotic really chaotic mix of a few headcanons and theories I made up and it SOMEHOW turned into a fanfic that I wrote so long that other people made many similar things in meanwhile and now this sounds not original at all, but I wrote it not to keep it in my deep hidden shelf so here we go
(It's based on what I know from the lmk series. I've started to read JTTW, but I'm still not so far to get to know anything about Macaque, but I won't change anything about this theory from now on)
Let's gather some basic information for the start.
-> Macaque is made with a shadow or even he is a shadow (kinda shadow demon, the demon of shadow). I mean, shadow is not only his power, he literally is made with shadow matter. We know that because he can not only manipulate shadows but also go through walls and turn yourself into a shadow.
Tumblr media
-> I'm not sure if someone made him or he just "poof" out of nowhere just like Sun Wukong, but according to the story he told about how close he and Monkey King used to be, there's no doubt they had some master/student relationship which later turned into almost equal partnership. What is said, Macaque followed Sun Wukong for a long time, learning a lot from him, 'being his shadow'. They grew in power together, fought together, and (as it is said) Macaque started casting as Sun Wukong shadow, which (surprisingly) looks like he did willingly. Just look at the picture - the shadow is big and bright, it’s powerful and smiling, proud of his strength. He doesn’t look like someone forced to be Sun Wukong’s shadow. It shows how much Macaque admired Monkey King, that he wasn't just a friend for him, he was his idol.
Tumblr media
-> We all know Macaque is a shadow demon, he can easily change his appearance, he does not have to look like an evil clone of Monkey King, especially if he hates him now or something, SO even if he used to look up at Sun as his ex-student or ex-partner, and now we know he is NOT, he would prefer to not look so similar any more.
He can choose any other look, but he doesn't. Why? Well, maybe he actually cannot. Maybe this isn't an appearance he has specifically chosen, maybe this is his 'basic' comfy form and any other form would just take too much energy to keep up. And looking at the really tiny probability of two very similar monkeys just "poofing" out of nowhere, I dare to say, Macaque wasn't born (I mean like Sun Wukong or any other demon), but he was specifically created. And here is a question: on someone's purpose or not? Maybe the power of great Monkey King was so strong so the part of it just jumped from him and formed into another similar creature, but let me say it's just weird and I prefer the theory of Sun Wukong being so bored and lonely after his master's (Tripitaka) death, and he created a brother for himself from his own shadow. Just to have someone, anyone.
So Wukong created Macaque and then what? He trained him, he taught him everything he knew, maybe even he shared his powers with him. Some great great bonding time. But as Macaque said, something drew them apart. It is visible that Macaque blamed Monkey King for this, for 'forgetting him'. Before speculation of what happened then between them, let's focus on what Macaque showed us what he wants now.
We have two episodes, both show different sides of him. In season 1, Macaque's main goal is to steal Monkey King's power from Mk, and then to very specifically revenge. He visibly does not want to defeat Sun Wukong, he wants to hurt him as much as possible. Look: when Monkey King showed up, Macaque totally forgot about Mk. And then, when he's so close to defeat him, instead of that he turned to Mk and tried to kill the teenager. Mk is just a tool to hurt Sun Wukong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we can't forget how Macaque constantly pointed out all the weak sides of Sun, he's basically just saying on and on "you're weak, you're weak, you're so weak, I'm so strong, I'm strong, you are so weak". Which really fits the feeling of being forgotten because he was weaker and Monkey King was stronger, better, glorious and famous. Macaque really feels like that, he really tried to make Sun Wukong feel his pain by dominating him.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, we see that Sun constantly striked off him. He said almost nothing to him, just "Aren't you bored of keep being in my shadow? It's time to give back what you've stolen" and that was fricking all. For Monkey King, Macaque is a just shadow, always behind him, something you turn around and leave behind to not see it and to forget, like an unwanted past. An unnecessary problem, that irritatingly keeps returning to him. He does not want to interact to not make even a slight more bond between them, he wants to delete him from his life forever, and omg WHY. At this end of the ep, Sun Wukong did not even mention Macaque. He really doesn't care at all (or extremely tries to not care). His HATE is almost touchable, ouch.
In season 2, Sun Wukong LEFT US ALL ALONE. Macaque showed up again, he played with Mk a bit, and... Left? That's the thing, you see, he doesn't need to hurt or kill Mk. All we see is Macaque talking about his past and then letting Mk experience something the 'hero' in the story should have felt. The guilt. When Mk interpreted his story differently, seeing himself as the warrior, Macaque corrected him. Cause he doesn't care about Mk at all. He heard how Mk told him about what hurt him, and here is a funny point, because if Macaque needs to be understood, listening to Mk and talking with him (such a simple act of empathy, they both needed it then, guh) should have been enough. Mk really felt the 'warrior' character in the story, so he understood what Macaque felt. But surprisingly, that was not what the demon carved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Macaque chose to make Mk feel like Monkey King at the moment something drew the demons apart. He wanted to force Mk to be sorry, to apologize, to regret his mistakes, cause he failed with forcing Monkey King to feel that. But! Maybe he is not as purely innocent and poorly forlorn. We see the flashback for a half of second before Mk hit him with Staff:
Tumblr media
We see Sun Wukong attacking Macaque who's in his demon (true) form.
Let's repeat this: Macaque felt as if a friend left him in the past. He said a friend did this to have all the "hero's glory" for themselves. We know Sun Wukong could do such a thing, especially before he met Tripitaka, but 1. In my theory Macaque is created after Tripitaka's death and 2. If (as my theory said) Sun created Macaque to not feel so lonely, he would never leave him for such a thing. So Macaque hides something for sure, something he did, something so terrible that made Sun Wukong attack him and not want to know him anymore. How horrendous thing Macaque did that made Sun Wukong choose to be alone again and to forget his dear brother he created by himself?
Back to the great bonding time, repeating speculation of "oh maybe they even share the powers" and comparing it to Macaque wanting to steal Mk's power, my theory here is saying:
Sun Wukong taught Macaque the technique of the same powers as he knew, but Macaque overused it (probably wanting to see how powerful he is, probably showing off and killing so many harmless people) doing terrible terrible things. So Monkey King took all of the powers from him and left him alone, powerless, with the last painful words: "Dont you dare to show in front of my eyes ever again". Of course Macaque was hurt, of course he didn't see why he's the bad guy, because he did not care about people at all. And of course Sun Wukong was hurt too.
Maybe he came back to the village Macaque had destroyed and following a quiet crying he found a little baby with a heart so clear and he put into him all Macaque's powers, making them sleep until the time will be right... But back to the series!
Tumblr media
Yes exactly. Why did he destroy the lantern and leave? Why did he suddenly lose interest in teasing Mk and stop forcing him to feel guilty?
First thing, he saw Mk is ready to fight for his friends seriously. He still cared so much about them, not like Monkey King about Macaque. That was hard to swallow, that was hard to watch for the demon. That was't the thing he wanted to see. And second, the flashback. Maybe the sudden realization that he actually did something bad. Cause Sun Wukong didn’t just leave him, he cast him out. It was hard to admit that he actually deserved this (or maybe much more), it’s much easier to blame others, not yourself. So Macaque felt “that’s enough” and left. Mk brought him to this uncomfortable point of admitting the truth. Which he didn’t want to. Maybe in the following eps, he will see it, but now Macaque just isn’t ready yet. But the last talk with Mk gives me a little hope. He stopped treating him like a tool or toy, he was actually talking with him like with a person, he even warned him about Lady Bone Demon.
Maybe (maybe) one day he'll see that humans aren't just useless creatures he can carelessly kill, maybe Mk will make him care and realize what he's done, but that's just speculation in speculation, he could die before he reaches that point, maybe he is already dead....
And that's it. That is all I wrote on ao3, but in the fanfic I put much more details and I build those characters up much more than here. This is only rough rough short-saying, I'm really sorry if you read it all
Oh and here is a link if you liked this above i'd love if you read the fanfic thank you

Monkey King meeting MK's parents?
Qi Xiaotian's parents, as far as Sun Wukong knew, was a sensitive topic.
The kid had never talked about them. But their presence was clear in the issues his successor clearly had, including the abandonment issues Wukong clearly hadn't helped with his "vacation". And he couldn't bring himself to leave that end loose.
His kid didn't need them to show up out of the blue.
So, after Lady Bone Demon had been defeated, he had asked Pigsy about them. "I don't know, the kid's never talked about them." was his answer. "As far as I know, he got picked up in the country by the foster care system when he was a kid." He didn't mention the fact that Xiaotian had run away when he was thirteen, or how Pigsy and Tang had taken him in when he was seventeen. (The latter was something Wukong was ridiculously grateful for.)
So Wukong had broken in to where all the foster care system's files were kept. That idea had been difficult since Xiaotian's name had been self-chosen. But there had been a struck of luck when he saw a picture of what looked like a young Xiaotian, pre-transition steps. He had found the address (as well as the note that Xiaotian's past name had been chosen by a judge).
So that was how he found himself here, much to his confusion. There was no sign of any village Xiaotian could've been, not in a hundred miles. Instead, he was here.
At the last place he wanted to be.
Five Phases Mountain.
His prison of five centuries, bound and chained by the Buddha. For a moment, he swore he could see glimmers of gold, the remains of the seal Tripitaka had destroyed. Wukong sighed, landing on the ground, right in front of a cave entrance.
And there was footprints.
Wukong blinked out of memory, kneeling to examine them. They appeared to be burned into the stone, like lava had risen up to the surface. That was... strange.
He followed the trail, up into the cave. Well, looked like he had to go in.
On a guess, he activated his True Sight. The world turned gold, with little shinier pieces drifting through the air. His magic, what remained of it here. But it seemed to have lingered around the cave, which wasn't a surprise.
Wukong headed into the cave, the darkness of the cave appearing to his eyes to be bright as day. Inside, it appeared to be the ruins of a temple. Wall carvings had been bashed in and eroded, columns had fallen over, and the remains of lanterns had gone dark.
But this wasn't a temple. It was a prison.
He entered the center of the mountain, a massive chamber. A dias remained, broken in half by a huge boulder. It was the core of the mountain.
It had pinned him down.
But the memory of being crushed by hundreds of pounds of rock wasn't what made Wukong come to a stop.
The footprints led back to the boulder. The boulder itself appeared to be hollowed out, cooled down magma coating around the center and down the steps. It was here his power was, madly focused around the boulder.
Wukong reached out.
- It had been here for centuries. Power had been left behind when it's prisoner had been freed.
The magic soaked into the rock, left to stew for years and years and years.
And then, one day, it had heated up and up and up...
Until the surface melted, allowing lava and life to leak out...
A breath.
Life.-
Wukong fell to his knees and sobbed.
The image of Xiaotian, scared and confused, still covered in molten rock like afterbirth, rolled through his mind. And he couldn't blame Xiaotian to fear being alone.
It was his fault after all.

The shadowy figure laughed at the king’s panic. The axe glinted in the air.
Sun Wukong pulled out a hair and blew on it to create a clone for protection on instinct, but nothing appeared. His shoulders trembled. He scooted backwards with his elbows. What should he do?
He had been through so many battles that he should have known what to do instantly, but without his abilities and the staff, he was completely helpless. Would this be the end? Finally. …Yet it would mean leaving his brothers behind and letting the world fall.
But couldn’t they do this without him? He was weak. Wasn’t worth it.
Wouldn’t it be better to close his eyes, accept it and die right there? The younger disciples didn’t need him. They were going to realize that. It was only a matter of time.
He didn’t even fit in with them anymore. The gap had made them strangers.
Did he know them at all? Were they only bringing him along out of pity?
Something in his gut told him it was wrong to let the axe rip him apart. The others were still under the control of the spirit. He had to fix his mistakes.
The figure crept closer and the light revealed his attacker. “Xiaotian?”
Xiaotian’s eyes glowed a deep icy blue and the voice that came out was not his own. “Not quite,” Xiaotian, no, the White Bone Spirit responded.
He growled. “Get out of him!”
“Or what? You’ll kill me? You pathetic bastard. Your powers are gone and almost everyone has turned on you, especially your successor.”
“Oh, I will kill you just not right now. Not when you’re possessing the kid. Get out of him.”
“I’ll think about it,” she replied in a calmly smug voice. “It was so fun watching them tear at you. Not to mention your oh-so-sad face whenever they did so. The words are true. You’re worthless. You hurt the very person you tried to protect and look at what it cost you. Your successor hates you.”
“No thanks to you!”
They swung their weapon. Wukong yelped and thankfully, the axe hit the ground instead of him, making the floor splinter. “I just gave them a little….. nudge. It was so easy. He despises you so much. After all, what is there to love? You left him. Even before I possessed him there was so much delicious anger in him. Without what I did, I’m sure he would have tried to kill you.”
“No, he wouldn’t have!”
“Yes, he would have. I merely enhanced what was there…. and deep down he does want to kill you. As much as I would love to kill you myself, I’ll let your poor successor here strike the final blow. Wouldn’t it be sweet to get you killed at his hands? Your successor could use a bit of relief… and I’m certain murdering you will satisfy that.”
The glow faded and Xiaotian turned their head from side to side. They groaned before they felt the axe in their hands and looked at the king. MK snarled, “Monkey King! Did you make me blackout?”
“No, bud! I didn’t!”
“Oh, whatever. I don’t give a damn what you have to say. I’m here to end you once and for all. You brainwashed Sandy!”
“I didn’t brainwash him!”
“I don’t believe you. How else could have Sandy joined you easily? He didn’t even give a shit about you until he chased after you. Maybe you had an earlier conversation with him that convinced him to care. You’re such a horrible person that I don’t understand why else he would.”
“I swear I didn’t do anything to him!” The king gripped at his chest. His heart was beating a mile a minute.
“Shut up! No excuses! Now I can finally end you!”
He approached, ready to strike again when adrenaline pumped through the king’s veins, and he kicked the kid dead in the chest.
Xiaotian tumbled and the axe dropped to the ground with a dull thud. Wukong stood up and started sprinting. The kid picked up the axe and began chasing him, screaming, “You fucking bastard!”
Where were the guards? He needed help.
He sped through the halls desperately trying to find any cover. The king breathed heavily.
Xiaotian was closing the distance between them. The spirit must have amped some of his physical strength.
Fuck, fuck, fuck. How could he get away?
“You can’t run, Monkey King!”
Turning the corner, the king continued his run and in a blur, the axe flew past him, barely missing his ear, and straight into a wall.
If this had been a normal situation, he would have had the good sense to rip it from its place and take it with him, but there was nothing normal about this. He didn’t have powers to assist him in this endeavor. Right now, he was only a simple, weak monkey and he had nowhere to turn.
Xiaotian ripped the axe from the wall. With a manic laugh, he declared, “Oh, it is going to be so good when I kill you.”
Wukong tipped over an empty pedestal as they passed one of the hallways with a row of bedchambers, which had banners of the Dragon King’s logo lined up.
His successor growled as the pedestal landed near his feet, unfazed by the noise. “You think that is going to kill me? Some pathetic piece of rock? That must be your brother or something.”
Fuck, fuck, fuck. How can he slow him down? Could he even slow him down? Should he scream for help?
A door opened and a tired human stepped out. The human rubbed his eyes and a hoarse voice questioned, “What’s- what’s going on?”
Xiaotian cackled as he got close to chopping the king’s leg off but the king managed to kick him for the second time. Tang’s mouth was agape. A moment of clarity spread across his face. That wasn’t right. Why was MK attacking the Monkey King?
The Monkey King was good, wasn’t he? Sure he made a mistake and while Tang had been upset as they all had been, it wasn’t justified to kill him.
The past few weeks had been a blur but through that he could catch the group’s cruel words, words that were not their own. Or maybe they were and all that frustration boiled over.
And what was with him clinging to Sandy like that? Sandy said he found him annoying… Usually, the demon was so polite. Had he done something to piss him off over the years? He never had a chance, did he?
Invisible chains tugged at his wrist and realization slapped him in the face. The White Bone Spirit must have done something. She had somehow taken hold of them and were under her control.
He needed to stop this. “XIAOTIAN, STOP,” Tang commanded. The human was about to take the hatchet from the boy when his head throbbed and he paused to hold it. The chains bounded tighter. “No, no, no, no.”
Then his orbs flashed to blue and he shook his head. He blinked, confused, completely forgetting what he was about to do.
Xiaotian was still after Sun Wukong. Tang leaned against the blue-green wall. His chin jutted out and his lips formed a smirk. This was going to be good. At least it wasn’t his dear Sandy being hunted.
The two didn’t hear his earlier plea, more concentrated on their chase. Wukong hissed as MK struck his arm. Blood trickled down.
Wukong pushed another pedestal. Longma and Wujing burst out from their rooms. “What’s that noise?” Wujing inquired in a frantic tone.
“Oh! Sandy! You’re up, sweetie,” he exclaimed and embraced the other. “How are you, cutie?”
“Not now, Tang. What’s happening?”
“Oh, nothing really. Xiaotian is just giving that stupid monkey what he deserves.”
“WHAT?” The two younger disciples shouted and exchanged glances.
“Help!” Wukong called from down the hall.
“Why don’t we forget about that whole thing? I think my sapphire deserves some attention.” The scholar giggled and trailed a finger on Sandy’s chest.
Sandy blushed but quickly dismissed it when the eldest brother screeched. “Again, screw off! My brother is more important.”
The sage found a closet to hide in. He quickly locked the door behind him but Xiaotian splintered the door through the middle with swings of the axe. He poked his head through the hole. “Here’s Xiaotian!”
“We have to help big brother,” Longma said urgently.
“Right!”
Sandy grabbed Xiaotian. The young adult was kicking and screaming. “LET GO OF ME!”
“Not a chance!”
The guards came in. “What happened here?”
“A certain someone attacked the Monkey King,” Sandy explained.
The head guard took the weapon away. Longma opened the door and wrapped the king into a hug after bandaging his arm. Wukong gripped his clothing and trembled. “We should throw him in jail,” the head guard suggested.
“No,” Wukong yelled. “He’s being controlled. It’s not his fault.” It’s what I deserve.
“He fucking attacked you,” the dragon cursed. “I told you their emotions were enhanced. It’s clear he has some unresolved anger towards you! And even if that wasn’t the case, that doesn’t excuse it.”
“I deserve it,” he whispered.
“No, you don’t! Hardly anyone deserves it.”
He did. He deserved it. Xiaotian could have killed him right then and there. Why didn’t he let him?
His skull pounded and his chest constricted. Stomach churned and he clasped a hand over his mouth. He stepped away from Longma, shivering and shaking.
Sandy and Longma frowned. They knew what was happening. It was something that had happened to Sandy a thousand times before.
Sandy pushed the kid to the guard and said, “Please keep him locked up for a day or two.” The guard nodded and led the boy away.
The king’s fists turned white. His breaths were ragged. Longma whispered, “Hey, big brother.” The king looked at him, eyes blown wide. “It’s okay. We’re here. Breathe with us.” The youngest breathed in and out softly then Wujing followed suit and after a few minutes, Wukong did too.
His breathing returned to normal but he was still shuddering. “Can we hug you?”
A pause. “I don’t… I don’t deserve it.”
“Yes, you do. You deserve all the love in the world, big brother. Can we hug you?”
“Su-sure…”
The two walked to him cautiously, arms outstretched. They embraced him and he sobbed into their shoulders. “We’re here. We love you.”
This was more than he deserved. They held him for who knows how long and he bathed in their comfort.
“I’m sorry,” the sage apologized.
“For?”
“Everything. I don’t deserve you two. You should have better.”
“Don’t say that,” Sandy scolded. “There is no better.”
“There is. I’m horrible. I’m the reason this happened.”
“That is not fucking true.”
“IT IS! Don’t you get it? If I hadn’t left the kid and told him the truth then he wouldn’t be angry and your city would be fine.”
“The White Bone Spirit did that to him.”
“I contributed!”
“She would have gotten him either way. That’s what she does. She twists people’s minds. She did that before, remember? This is not your fault. And Xiaotian didn’t tell us anything either. If they’re getting mad at you for this then they’re a hypocrite.”
Bai Longma muttered, “We love you. You did not mean for this to happen and no one should treat you like a monster because of it. Sure you’ve done wrong but you’re trying to learn and that’s important. You shouldn’t be treated like this. You deserve love, not hate.”
“I don’t believe that.”
“Then we’ll be here to remind you of that.”
Maybe he could be convinced that he earned love. “Thank you.”
Wujing rubbed the space between the monkey’s shoulder blades. “No need to thank us. We’re family. It’s what we do. Let’s get you something to eat.”
“…Alright.”
Sandy stared at the spot Tang was previously in. The scholar seemed to have retreated into his room when the commotion started.
Settling into the dining room, they gave the king Forever Young Rose Bud tea and crispy scallion ginger salmon.
As he ate, the king informed them about what transpired. “So the White Bone Spirit possessed him?” Sandy wondered.
“Yea,” he confirmed. “Then she let them do it themselves.”
“Wow, she is screwed up,” Longma stated.
The king snorted. “Tell me about it.”
“Luckily I found the ingredients to solve this mess,” the youngest divulged.
“What do we need?”
“Do we need the crimson jimsonweed?”
“You have the crimson jimsonweed?”
“Long story.”
Longma denied that. “No. We don’t need it. We should save it at a later date. What we need is a peach of immortality, peach wood, a red peony found in lava, blue and orange jasmines found in some of the deepest waters, a yellow daffodil in a place with the strongest of winds, a plum blossom in a mountain where snow never melts, a pink hibiscus surrounded by fire and a lotus.” His brothers sighed in relief. “In a temple with a bunch of rooms,” he finished and the two glared. “The peach and the wood are easy to obtain. The others will not be.”
“Are we going to make them eat the peach wood?”
“Yes,” Longma replied bluntly then scoffed. “Obviously not. We’ll make necklaces out of it. It will be great protection.”
“You got a point. They are supposed to ward off evil spirits. But is it enough to ward her off?”
“It will at least loosen her control on them then when we give them the antidote, they’ll be back to normal.”
“I hope you’re right.”
“I hope so too. We’ll leave tomorrow. Better to handle this problem while we can. Better to handle this while we still can. We should all get some sleep.”
The younger brothers stood up and the eldest shouted, “Wait!”
“Yes, big brother?”
“Is it okay if you two stay with me? If that’s okay…”
Sha Wujing grinned. “Of course. Come on!”
Sun Wukong bolted up from his chair, leaving his empty plate and cup behind and walked with them to sleep. They cuddled together in a pile.
Despite the nagging thoughts in his head about how they were going to leave him, he breathed deeply to calm himself. The warmth, the whispers of ‘love you, brothers’ and the snoring helped the thoughts abade.
And for the first time in a long while, the king drifted off peacefully.
------
Ao Guang dropped two bags in front of them. Ao Lie raised a brow. “What’s this?”
“Weapons and supplies including an immortality granting peach and the wood.”
“Thank you, uncle.”
“Of course. Just save the world and tell your dad I want my television back.”
Ao Lie chuckled. “Will do.”
Wukong caught a glimpse of the weapons bag. Swords, spears and a mix of others were in there. He froze when he spotted the axe Xiaotian attacked him with. Sandy kept him steady with a firm hand.
“Thank you, Ao Guang,” the king thanked through chattering teeth, acting as if a cold breeze swept the room.
“You’re welcome. And Sun Wukong.”
“Hm?”
“I know you beat her.”
“Thank you, old friend.”
“Bye, uncle. We’ll be off.”
The others waved goodbye and walked to the ship. Sandy placed the supplies in the storage room while Bai Longma stuck with Wukong. The group shot glares at the king and his shoulders slumped.
“Why are we taking him along again?” Xiaotian grumbled.
“Because if you kick him out, I will show you how scary I can be,” the youngest disciple threatened. “You shouldn’t even be in his presence after what you did.”
“No one likes him anyway.”
“I beg to differ. Third brother and I love him and that’s all that matters.”
Pigsy interjected, “He’ll betray us, y’know.”
“He won’t. I trust him more than I trust any of you. If you think you can get me to distrust him then you are dead wrong. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from him.”
“He hurt Xiaotian. No way we’re trustin’ him.”
“And Xiaotian almost killed him. Big brother accidentally hurt him. Your kid purposely tried to hurt him. There’s a difference. A difference you people clearly don’t understand.” Longma sighed. “Not that you can…”
Xiaotian stepped forward with fists clenched. Wukong ducked behind his brother.“It’s not my fault he’s so horrible.”
“You’re the one who’s horrible. Stop blaming your issues on him.”
“He’s the one who left me!”
“Doesn’t give you the right to try and kill him.”
The prince led the monkey away. The king gripped his brother. Longma was really sticking his neck out to help him. But… “Did you have to yell at them? They aren’t…”
“Again, enhanced emotions. Even if it’s a spell, it doesn’t make it okay.”
“But…”
“If I made a mistake like I didn’t tell someone something. Something that would have affected them. Would you have believed I earned the cruel treatment I was given?”
“No,” he replied. “You’re awesome, Longma! You shouldn’t be put through something like that!”
“And you do?”
“I…” He wasn’t sure how to answer that. “Well, I…” Then an excuse came. “You’re great and I’m not.”
“You’re the Great Sage Equal to Heaven!”
Wukong chuckled. “What’s so great about me?”
“What’s so great?! Are you hearing yourself?” The dragon tapped his chin. “Let me think. You’re a king. You saved us a million times. You kept people safe.”
“I didn’t keep MK safe. I didn’t keep their city safe.”
“I can’t deny that… I’m not trying to justify it but you don’t deserve to be treated this way and you are trying to make it better. All we can do is learn from our mistakes.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever learn.”
“You will. You learned on the journey.”
“Then fell back to old habits.”
“So did Wujing. We all fall and have to pick ourselves back up. And after what happened with…”
“Don’t,” he hissed.
Longma huffed. “After what happened, Wujing and I had to pick ourselves up. He… refused to listen to me at first. He fell back to his angry ways and while it took centuries, he grew. Now look at him, he’s changed.”
“We’re different. He was lucky.”
“Luck had nothing to do with it. He wanted to change and I know you do too. We went on a journey to grow. To learn from our mistakes.”
“Then why didn’t I learn?”
“Your flaws and mistakes don’t erase completely even when you learn lessons. Humans can learn from their mistakes quickly because their lives are so short while gods can take a long time to learn.”
“So you’re saying it will take me centuries? We don’t have centuries.”
“I know! But you will, big brother. I trust that.”
Why did the other trust him so much? What had he done to earn any sort of trust? “You shouldn’t,” he screamed and stomped his feet. “I FAILED, LONGMA! DON’T YOU GET IT? STOP BELIEVING IN ME! I DON’T DESERVE IT!”
No matter their promise to remind him he was loved, he was certain they would leave. So many people did and they would be no exception.
Everyone deserved happiness except him. He was a monster and no one could shake the thought that he wasn’t.
They would give up on him. He would if he was in their place.
The dragon, without flinching or raising his voice, asked, “Why don’t you deserve it?”
“Haven’t you heard me? I failed everyone. I failed the kid. I failed… Why do you want to give me a chance? There are other people worth your time.”
“No one is worth my time more than you and Wujing. And you forget that me and him are here to help you even when you fail.”
“You shouldn’t be. I’m weak.”
“We’re all weak in some form or another.”
“But you’re not me!”
The dragon tilted his head. “Why does being you matter? Why do you feel like you have to take the weight of the world by yourself?”
“Because I’m the Great Sage like you said. I’m supposed to be a protector. It’s always been my job to guard people. I can’t fail! If I fail, the world falls! I can’t let anything happen to those I love again…” He tried to wipe the tears. “People rely on me. It’s how it’s always been. I can’t fail! I can’t fail!”
Longma’s face turned soft. “Oh, big brother…”
“I failed my monkeys. Now a lot of them are dead. And the rest who chose not to stay with me, who knows where they are now?” He certainly didn’t know where Liu’er was. Probably plotting his revenge.
“I’m sorry,” Longma apologized.
“Huh?”
“I’m sorry that we made you feel like that.”
Wukong waved his hands. “Longma, it’s not-”
“Let me finish.” Wukong nodded. “I’m sorry we relied on you to the point where you needed to hide how you felt. I’m sorry I didn’t realize it sooner and that I didn’t continue to reach out to you. That I let you drift away. I’m sorry you are being treated like a monster when you have done nothing but try to help people. I’m sorry you feel worthless when you are worth more than you know. I’m sorry no one has taken the time to comfort you, truly understand your emotions. That you felt like they would be discarded if you told us. Sorry that you feel like you have to do this alone and you believe everything is your fault. The burden is not solely on you. And I’m sorry for many more things.”
Wukong’s bottom lip trembled. “Longma…”
“We’re here now. And no matter what. No matter how much you believe you don’t deserve us, we will be here to prove you wrong. We promised.”
“I’m sorry you might have to do it forever.”
A smile. “That’s okay. I don’t mind. It’s a process. Can’t change overnight.”
“...I don’t deserve you.”
“Yes, you do and we’ll make sure you believe that.”
The two hugged. The monkey buried his nose in his brother’s chest. Don’t deserve it. Don’t des- Shut up.
———
During the next few days, he stuck to Longma’s side. Being around the others was uncomfortable at the moment. Everytime he encountered them, they fixated on him with narrowed eyes and a cruel comment. Xiaotian’s anger and general presence caused him to flinch and tremble. Longma shut any words down in an instant. And thankfully there were no weapon incidents since they had locked all of it up unless for training which Longma took over.
Being around the two made him feel safe. Although he was mostly with the dragon since Tang made it a point to cling to Wujing. But he had to deal with it if he wanted to hang around Wujing more. Thankfully, Tang was less aggressive to him than the others so he could manage it if he wanted.
The group landed near the volcano where the red peony was contained. “Why are we here?” Pigsy questioned. “Is one of the parts for the weapon here?”
“No,” Sandy answered. “What we need from here is something else. A flower.”
“What? A fuckin’ flower? That’s what we’re here for?”
“Don’t underestimate flowers. Don’t you remember the Crimson Jimsonweed helping Xiaotian?”
“Yea, you’re right but shouldn’t we focus on findin’ the other stuff first?”
“Right now this is our priority.”
“Ugh. Fine. What do we have to do?”
“You’re not going to do anything,” the dragon responded.
“WHAT?!”
“The three of us are going to get what’s in there while the rest of you stay here.”
Tang gasped. “You can’t make my dear Sandy go into a volcano.”
“Well, your dear Sandy has been going on adventures like this so it should be no issue for him.”
Sandy patted the scholar. “Tang, I’ll be fine. You stay here.”
“Oh. Alright, sweetie but come back in one piece.”
“I will.”
Longma swung a bat with heart stickers littered across it over his shoulder. “Let’s do this.”
Sun Wukong waved a hand towards the bat. “What’s with the bat? And why are there hearts on it?”
“It’s a love bat,” he stated.
“Isn’t it going to burn?”
“My love for you and Wujing burns much brighter.”
“Okay but if that thing goes up in flames, don’t blame me.”
“I won’t.”
Tang whimpered, “Can’t I go with you, sweetie?”
Sandy shook his head. “No. It’s dangerous. We’ll be back. I promise.”
The scholar pulled away slowly with more whimpers and a pout. He rubbed his forehead as he received a pang. Snap out of it. Snap out of what?
Pigsy rubbed his arm for comfort then received a pang himself. They quickly snapped out of it in favor of staring at the others’ backs as they entered the volcano.
Magma bubbled and hissed inside the volcano. The oppressive heat beat down on them from all sides. Sun Wukong waved his hand in front of his face to cool himself down. Without his immortality or invincibility, he could barely handle the temperatures.
Shifting rocks were littered across a river of bright magma, paving the way to the red peony. The flower was far away. “Alright, we’re here! We should take this one at a time.”
Longma stepped first onto the rock, careful not to let his feet touch the molten surfaces. He hopped onto another while Sandy went to the first. Then the dragon traveled to the third, the fish demon on the second and the monkey on the first.
The magma boiled and bubbled up. The three yelped. Wukong silently scolded himself. If he had his abilities then he would be able to grab the flower in an instant. Worthless.
They grew closer to the peony with intermittent screams as molten rock kept surprising them at the worst times. The dragon screeched as his stickered bat caught on fire.
“Told you!”
“Shush, big brother!”
If only Wukong had taken the lead then he could have been burned. He was immune to heavenly and earthly fire. Key word ‘was.’ Now he was just a simple monkey like he had been thousands of years ago.
Longma’s slipper fell into the magma. “Hey! My slipper! This is getting difficult!” Then an idea drifted into his head and he smacked himself. “I’m a dragon! Wait!”
Sandy glared. “You couldn’t have figured that out earlier?”
“No, I could not have!”
Longma glowed green and transformed into his dragon form. He swayed as he flew to the flower and grabbed it with his claws. “Got it!”
Then he snatched the two others up as he rushed out of the cave.
They huffed and Longma shifted to his normal form. He raised the red peony in the air. “WOO!”
Sandy sighed. “That would have been infinitely easier if you had remembered your powers earlier.”
At least those two had powers while Sun Wukong didn’t. He was useless.
“At least we retrieved it! That’s all that matters.”
Sandy rolled his eyes. “Yea, whatever.”
Tang swooped out of nowhere. “Sweetie! I missed you so much!”
“Never mind. You should have taken us longer.”
His brothers snickered. Longma asked, “What? Don't you enjoy your boyfriend’s affection?”
“No. He is not my boyfriend! Under the spell, remember?”
“Mhmm… yeah, yeah, mister oblivious.”
“Shush, Longma.”
The others exited the flying ship. Xiaotian said, “Oh, finally, you’re here. I hope the Monkey King wasn’t being useless like usual.”
The Monkey King flinched and the dragon shielded him with his hand. “Leave him alone, you edgy brat. We should get on the ship.” “I need to examine it first before we take off again,” Sandy mentioned.
“Do that then we can leave and get the other flowers.”
“Alright. I could use some company.”
“I’ll keep you company, jasmine,” Tang squealed.
The fish demon made a huff in annoyance. “Okay.”
They separated from the other three to enter the control room. The demon picked up his tool box and started trying to examine everything. Key word tried: He was greatly hindered with the human koala attached to him. Conversations were interspersed while the demon was taking care of the ship.
After thirty minutes, the demon growled and nudged Tang. “Tang, could you stop clinging to me for one second?”
Lips forming a pout, he whined, “What? You don’t want me here?” The scene was a good laugh and the scholar’s comments were interesting.
“Yes,” was the direct answer.
Wukong said, “Hey Wujing!” You shouldn’t talk to him. He has better things to do.
“Yes, big brother?”
A smirk popped up on his face. “You know, the enhanced emotions stuff sure does explain things.”
“Why the others are so hostile to you? Yes, yes, it does.”
“No no, not that. It explains why Tang wants to fuck you so bad.”
Bai Longma laughed. Wujing’s cheeks flushed a brilliant purple. He stuttered, “Big- big brother, don’t say that! That’s inappropriate!”
“He’s right, y’know.” The youngest agreed.
“Little brother,” he scolded, his voice becoming high-pitched. “We are just friends. Well, not even that… he doesn’t like me.”
“You’re right,” the scholar piped up. “I don’t like you.” And for a second, Sandy thought he returned to normal. “I love you!” Then his hopes died.
“Great…”
“You’re amazing! Kind, smart, really strong,” he complimented and patted his muscles.
“Uh, thanks?”
“In fact, I wouldn’t mind-”
“Tang.”
“Yes, love?”
“Can you bother me later?”
“Hmmm… no.”
Sun Wukong intervened, “Okay. Tang, that’s enough. He’s working.”
Tang’s face shifted from love struck to angry in a matter of seconds. “Shut your flea ridden ass up.” Then the love struck grin came back as he stared at the fish demon. “Anyway, sweetie, your muscles are great.”
The monkey blinked and Longma ducked his head to wheeze. That stung a little, but he shrugged it off in favor of focusing more on amusement. “I don’t know whether to laugh, or be offended.”
“Laughing would be preferable. I need a break from,” he gestured to the human, “this.”
The dragon held his stomach as he cackled. Wukong nervously laughed along. Tang growled, “What are you laughing at, you punk? Are you laughing at my boyfriend?”
“Tang.”
“Yes, light of my life, beautiful divine man of the sea, handsome, funny and awe inspiring love of mine?”
“What the fuck…”
Now he could actually cackle. The youngest was already rolling on the floor in a fit of laughter. “I kno- I know this is because of the spell but heavens, this is hilarious,” Longma declared between huffs.
“Stop laughing, the second oldest commanded. “He’s not in his right mind. This isn’t Tang. I don’t feel right finding humor in this when this isn’t him.”
“You told us to laugh!”
“Yea but only a little bit of laughter! Laughter in appropriate moderation!”
“You wanted humor. This family provides humor.”
“I want to be an only child again,” he muttered.
The monkey ignored his mild hurt at the statement even if it was a joke. Then again, he and Longma were joking about the situation.. so, equal trade. Wukong agreed, “Oh, me too. Life was simpler.”
“Well, I had siblings before you two. They’re more polite,” Longma pointed out.
Sandy wiped his hands. “That should do it. We should start this baby up.”
Tang smirked. “You can if you want to. I wouldn’t mind.”
Sandy squeaked. He pressed a button and the ship drifted into the air.
“Where are we going next, little brother?”
“Next is the orange and blue jasmines.”
“They’re found in water, right?”
The dragon nodded. “Some of the deepest waters.”
Wukong frowned. “I won’t be able to help you with this.”
“That’s okay. We know how you are in water. We can handle this.”
“Thank you.”
“Wait! Water adventure?” Sandy’s eyes sparkled.
“Water adventure!”
“Oh, my babe is happy about a water adventure. So cute!”
Ignoring Tang’s comment, Wujing yelled, “We have to get there soon!”
The brothers laughed. “This adventure is right up Wujing’s alley.”
“I have to make so many plans! Come on, brothers! I have a list of what we should do. Tang, why don’t you go back to Pigsy or whoever?”
“Why would I want to be with Pigsy when I can be with you?” “You’ll thank me.”
“No, I won’t. I like you more than Pigsy.”
“Another reality is the only way that could be true.”
“Like this one?”
“Just go to Pigsy. I have to do something.”
“Can I have a kiss first?”
“NO!”
The scholar stomped his feet. “Then I’m not leaving.” “Don’t be a child.” “Just give him what he wants,” the Great Sage suggested.
“Tang, will it make you leave me alone?”
“Yes. Only for now.”
“Is a kiss on the forehead alright?”
“Absolutely!”
Sandy bent down, brushing the scholar’s hair from his face and pressing a kiss. His heart fluttered.
Tang’s cheeks flushed pink. His eyes seemed clearer than the haze they had been prior. He stuttered, “Er… ummm… thanks. I’ll leave you alone for now.” Then he ran to find Pigsy.
The demon tilted his head. He thought the scholar might have reacted more joyfully, not flustered. “That’s over. Come on. There’s a water adventure to be had, brothers!”
Plan after plan was created, and Wujing couldn’t keep his glee contained. Wukong thought about how those two seemed to have abilities that suited these adventures while he had nothing.
Would he be of any use?
He wished he had his powers back.
What was the point of him being here? He would just slow them down.
The king rested his fingers under the table and pushed up to subtly lift it but he barely made it move. Longma noticed this. “Big brother. Remember what we talked about? You don’t have to have your powers to help.”
Wujing hummed. “Oh, yea, big brother! You being here is enough help.”
The king’s ears drooped. “It doesn’t feel like it. I just want my powers back.”
“We know. Maybe an immortality peach will help?”
“Maybe? But in this state, I think it will only make me a regular immortal instead of invincible. Plus my powers didn’t come to me just because I ate a peach. I trained for those.”
“I thought it was worth a shot.”
“You know there are some people who think I didn’t earn my power?” That was one of the many things he earned during his adventures. Earned…
The youngest snorted. “That’s ridiculous. Everyone knows you trained for years to get them. It takes dedication and hard work to earn those especially since you were just a simple monkey king at the time.”
“Simple?!”
“A good monkey king,” he corrected. “Anyway, do people think you were some lazy piece of shit that took shortcuts to get them?”
“Apparently. It’s stupid. I can’t believe people think that.”
“Big brother,” Wujing called.
The Sage glanced in his direction. “Yes?”
“Look at what you’re doing!”
“Huh?” The table was lifted a few feet into the air. “What?! Did I? How did I?”
“Your powers must be coming back.”
“I hope so…” He didn’t deser- “Woah!” The table suddenly felt heavy. Wujing and Longma lowered it for him.
“Again, immortality granting peach.”
“For the second time there is a possibility it won’t work. I should deserve-”
“Earn.”
“Oh, yea, earn it.”
The corners of the dragon’s mouth raised at his choice of words. “I’m sure you’ll earn it, big brother. You’ve earned a lot of things.”
“Yea. Like us!”
Wukong nodded. “Yea. Like you…”
“We’ll help you train if you need us.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Maybe this time I can finally beat you in training.”
Wukong put his fists up and punched the air as a threat. “Like I’ll let that happen!”
“You want to go? Let’s go!”
Then they began roughhousing. Sandy giggled. It was like things were the way they used to be. But they weren’t. Not without Ba… not without the others back to normal. The good part was they had each other for company.
When they arrived where the two jasmines were held, Longma placed a hand on Sandy’s shoulder to prevent him from diving in.
“Calm down, big brother.”
“I can’t help it! Since when’s the last time I’ve had a good water adventure?”
Tang cooed, “Jasmine, you’re adorable when you get excited!”
“Uhhh… looks like it’s time to dive in. You sure you’ll be okay, eldest brother?”
“I’ll manage. Get the flowers, alright?”
“We will.”
Wujing pulled Longma with him into the waters. The Sage tapped his fingers against the railing.
Xiaotian fumed, “Why aren’t you going to help?”
“I… I can’t swim well in water.”
“That’s no excuse! You’re the king, right? You’re supposed to be better. Then again, everyone knows how awful you are.”
Sun Wukong shivered. “It’s not a new thing. I’ve never been able to swim well.”
”I don’t get what those two are trying to retrieve, but you should help them instead of being useless.”
“The kid is right,” the pig agreed. “Fuckin’ useless.”
The king stammered, “I can’t help it!”
“Can’t help it? Uh huh. Like you couldn’t help but let the kid down.”
“I know it’s my fault…”
“It is!”
“I should have told you, bud, and I’m sorry I didn’t.”
“I don’t want your stupid apologies,” his successor growled. “You could have changed everything if you had been there!”
Tail and posture slumped. “I should have. I can’t justify it.”
“You can’t! I’m grateful the other two aren’t here. They would just stop me.”
“Huh?”
“Stop me from pummeling you into the ground,” he completed and started to stomp over but was halted by an arm blocking him.
“Leave him alone,” Tang said.
“What? You don’t like him either!”
“Yea but I…” Eyes squeezed tight and hands found his forehead. He let out a noise of distress. “But I don’t think you should treat him like this.”
“What are ya sayin’, Tang?”
“Everyone knows he deserved this,” Xiaojiao declared.
“No… no, he doesn’t. He… he didn’t do anything wrong. We’re the ones who have been treating him like he’s a monster.”
“He abandoned me!”
“And you didn’t tell us. We have your back. We would have helped if we knew.”
“Are ya defendin’ him?”
“Yes because he…” He opened his eyes to reveal blue and he panted. “Because he’s Sandy’s brother. And you know how I feel about Sandy. He’s been mad at me for no reason lately so treating his brother well has got to make our relationship all better.” That statement came out as rather forced.
Wukong reached out a hand. “Are you okay, Tang?”
“Don’t touch him,” the pig commanded.
“Sorry. I’m just trying to help.”
“You’ve helped enough already.”
“Yea, we don’t need you,” Xiaotian exclaimed. “I certainly didn’t.”
“Bu-bud, I’m sorry.”
“Shut up! You can keep apologizing all you want but I won’t hear it! You’re worthless. You can’t even protect people properly with your stolen powers gone.”
“Stolen?”
“Oh, please. You’re telling me you trained to get them? How can a lousy person like you train for them? You must have stolen them from some poor bystander.”
Something about it caused his blood boil and his teeth to grind together. He had earned them. He had trained for years. He didn’t take them. A burst of anger came forth. “Hey! I didn’t take them! I trained for years! I worked hard and you want to claim I took them? I trained! I wasn’t some lazy bastard like you think I am! And I tried to train you to earn yours like I did. I’m not perfect but at least I’m trying!” You’re trying to be better.
“I should punch you! You shouldn’t talk back to me!”
Xiaotian raised a fist just as Sha Wujing and Bai Longma emerged from the water.
“We retrieved them! Are we interrupting something?”
Xiaotian joggled his head as he directed his attention to Sandy. “No. No you did not.”
“Good. We hope you aren’t trying to hurt our brother.” They hoisted themselves out and shook off the water.
Tang attached himself to Sandy. “Hey, cutie!” What a sudden change.
“Damn it…”
Should Wukong tell his brothers what transpired? Was it even important to mention? Was some of the true Tang shining through to defend him? Or was it only because he liked Sandy? Was the possession breaking hold without them doing anything?
It was interesting for the scholar to care. What was going on?
Longma stood next to him. “Eldest brother?”
“Hm? I’m alright.”
“If you say so.”
Sun Wukong was not alright.
As he watched the night sky, he couldn’t help but wonder about Tang’s reaction.
Why didn’t he bring it up? It might have been important to say.
A blue body appeared near him and peered at the sky. “What are you doing up at midnight?”
“I couldn’t ask you the same thing, Wujing.”
“I couldn’t sleep.”
“Me either. What’s your reason?”
“Thinking. You?”
“Same. I can’t stop thinking.”
Sandy snorted. “Know how that feels. Ever since seco-”
“Don’t,” he hissed.
Sandy huffed. “Ever since we were separated, I couldn’t stop thinking. I wondered how you were doing with the whole mess. I wish I could have helped you.”
“I wish I could have done the same but you were the younger one.”
“I’m not incapable just because I’m younger.”
“I know but it was my responsibility to look after you.”
“It was our responsibility to do the same to you. We’re family. After the incident, I was so enraged and I didn’t think about anyone but myself. I should have checked on you.”
“Me too.”
“I was so pissed and I kept blaming myself for the events.”
“Why are you telling me this? Isn’t it bad for you to discuss this?”
Wujing chuckled. “No. In fact quite the opposite. My therapist taught me it’s good to discuss my problems. I used to think it wasn’t. I was so mad at Longma when he suggested it. He kept following me around, trying to get me to stop fighting yet I ignored him. Even screamed a few times. What a horrible brother I was.”
“You screamed at him?”
“Yep. Like the cruel idiot I was and he kept going for me. He never gave up on me. It took so long for me to change. I used to think it was my fault.”
Wukong laid a gentle hand on his bicep. “That’s not true.”
“I know. Back then, I thought I was the reason our family fell apart. Because midd… because he protected me. That’s why we all split since he was gone while the rest of us were still here. Then master… We lost ourselves. Eventually I realized it wasn’t my fault and it’s not your fault either, big brother.”
“How did you know?”
“Because as much as you want to blame yourself, it was out of your control… and you have to deal with the unfortunate truth. I finally understand that.”
“I don’t want to deal with the unfortunate truth.”
“That’s life, big brother. Whether you accept it or not. And I want to say something. We are not with you because you lost your powers. We are not with you because of your powers. We are with you because of your kind heart and strong spirit. You deserve so much more than you think you do. You are amazing and anyone who treats you like shit will have to go through me. We love you and we are not pitying you.”
“How did you-?”
“I’ve been through the same thought process. We are with you because you are the eldest disciple, the one who has led us time and time again. The one we can count on no matter what and it’s okay to count on us too. We will never get tired of you. We’ll fix this together.”
Wukong sniffled and wiped his tears with his sleeve. “Does it ever go away?”
With pursed lips, he responded, “No but it does get easier to manage and we’ll be here for you like you have for us.”
Then they squeezed each other tight. The moon illuminated on them as they remained in each other’s presence.
