You and Emily Prentiss have been married for over five years now. You dated for two years prior to your marriage. And in those years that you’ve been together, both of you have gone through ups and downs together. Emily has never left you to deal with your problems alone.
Except today.
And that problem was your 3-year-old daughter having temper tantrums at breakfast.
“I don’ wike t’is!” Eleanor, your daughter, slammed her tiny hands on the dining table. She was clearly furious at you for trying to feed her vegetables instead of her requested chocolate cereals.
In your defense, it’s all she wanted to eat lately and you just didn’t want her to be diabetic early (or at all).
“Ellie, please. This is yummy and healthy, baby. You can have cereal again tomorrow.”
Ellie shook her head and continued slamming the table. Her face was flushed from yelling and arguing with you for the past ten minutes or so. “No, mama! Ce-yals today!”
You sighed weakly. Ellie was such a good, easy  kid most of the time but can be a real pain in the ass when she wants to be. And in those times, only your wife can get through her stubbornness. After all, she is Emily’s daughter too.
“Mommy will be mad. Do you want mommy to be mad?”
“Mommy not he’e!” She pouted.
“I know, but she will be mad once she finds out you’re giving Mama a hard time.”
Ellie folded her arms to her chest and displayed a sulky pout. “I wan’ mommy!” She fiercely yelled at you. “I wan’ mommy he’e!”
“I want mommy here too, baby, but she is fighting bad guys and she will come back to us soon.” You tried to offer her another spoonful of mashed vegetables. To your surprise, Ellie grabbed the spoon and tossed it to the floor. “Eleanor Prentiss!”
“Mama bad! Bad!” Ellie screamed before storming off to the living room and played with her puzzles.
Your eyes fell to the mess your daughter made on the table and the floor.
God, you wish she was here. Emily has always been better at this mom thing than you are. Sometimes, you actually envy her for how good she is at it. She was a natural while you’re a disaster. And maybe your daughter knew that.
After cleaning up the mess, you gave up and fed her cereals instead. It’s still better than Ellie not eating anything at all.
Your phone buzzed and it was from your wife.
Emily: Hey, babe. Just got back from Chicago. How are you and Ellie?
You: Ellie and I are enemies at the moment. She’s not eating her veggies and she’s asking for you.
Emily: I’ll be home in 30. Just have to finish this last paperwork then I’m out.
You: See you later, babe. I love you.
Emily: I love you too and that little self-willed kid of ours.
You have no doubt about that. In all the years that you’ve known each other, not once did Emily make you feel that you didn’t matter to her. Even when she had to leave you for days or weeks to travel to different states for her job. She never made you feel that her job was a priority over you; it’s just something she had to do. Emily would call you every night to check on you. Most times she would have food delivered at your door or at your workplace so she’s sure that you’d eaten. And when your wife comes home to you, a bouquet of hydrangea - your favorite flower - would be found on your bedside table.
But when you and Emily decided to adopt Eleanor three years ago, everything changed.
Emily was just promoted as BAU unit chief six months before Ellie’s adoption while you stayed home for a while to take care of your newborn. Your wife managed to spend less hours in the office and made a strict rule to not be interrupted during her off days. During some of these days, you would caught her teaching Ellie different languages and the then two-year-old girl was just staring at her wide-eyed.
Your wife had made sure to spend her annual leaves with you and Ellie. Emily would take you and Ellie to Disneyland and other theme parks she researched about. She would never bring her family to places she deemed unsafe and family unfriendly, especially places the BAU has worked abduction cases with.
Long story short, the change in your routine was all for the better.
Emily is a great mother, the best even. And she is just as great as your wife.
The problem lied with you though. You can’t seem to get through to your daughter like Emily did. It feels as if Ellie didn’t like you, or just liked her other mother better. Of course, you still loved that kid to death and you would do anything for her. But sometimes, at times like this one, it feels like you’re a failure of a mother to her.
Ellie was still ignoring you and your attempts to play with her. If you had a bingo card of her mama no’s, you would have won by now.
Maybe your daughter hated you.
You settled on watching your daughter have a tea party with her stuffed animals. Her dark curls tangled with the golden plastic crown she wore and her dark brown eyes focused on her white bunny. She was doing her best in re-telling them the bedtime story you told her last night.
The front door opened and Emily entered the living room, holding a big bouquet of pink and lavender hydrangeas and a tiny bouquet of white lilies.
“Queen Emily has arrived!” Emily announced, referencing the last story she told Ellie the night before she left for the case. “How’s my lovely sunshines?”
“Mommy!” Ellie exclaimed and ran to Emily. The little girl tightly hugged her mother’s leg. “Miss you, mommy!”
“Aww, I missed you too, sweet cheeks.” Emily knelt down to kiss her daughter’s cheek. She handed her the small bouquet. “This is for you, baby girl.”
Ellie jumped in joy and hugged Emily. “Thanks, mommy! They pwetty!”
“Yes, they are. Just like you, little one.” Emily playfully pinched her nose. When Ellie ran back to her tea party - boasting to everyone about the pretty flowers that her mother got her - Emily turned to you. “Hi, beautiful.”
“Please, I’m a mess.” You said, smiling faintly.
“Oh, you could be wearing a trash bag and I’d still find you the most beautiful woman on the entire planet.” You couldn’t help the blush that crept on your cheeks. Damn, this woman. Emily planted a kiss on your lips then handed you your bouquet. “This is for the best wife and mom in the world.”
You gratefully accept her gift. “Best wife? Yes. Best mother? Hmm, you’ll have to ask Ellie that.” You kissed Emily’s nose. “Your daughter hates me.”
“Our daughter,” Emily corrected you, slightly offended that you would ever say otherwise. “She doesn’t hate you. She’s just a stubborn little girl.”
“Wonder who she got that from.” You teased, earning an eye roll from your wife. “I made breakfast for you in the kitchen. You should eat.”
“Best.” Emily pecked your lips. “Wife.” And another peck. “Ever.” And another.
“I better be ‘cause I’d be the only one you’re getting for the rest of your life.” A smirk formed at your lips.
“One and only, babe.” Emily winked at you.
You and Emily spent the entire day playing with your daughter - having tea parties, dressing up her barbies, Emily making up silly stories about your family running an entire kingdom of stuffed animals. Eventually, your wife made sure that Ellie eats the mashed vegetables you prepared for her, proving only a stubborn could get past another stubborn.
Later that night, you and Emily tucked your daughter in. Emily was carefully brushing her hair while you set up her starry night light. Like most kids her age, Ellie didn’t like sleeping in the dark.
Ellie looked up to you. “Mama, pwease tell me ‘nother stowy?”
Your eyes met Emily’s. She smiled softly and nodded at you to go along with your daughter’s request.
You’re about to grab a book from Ellie’s cabinet when she stops you. “Don’ wan’ books. Wan’ mama and mommy stowy.”
“Our story?” Emily clarified. Little Ellie nodded. “Oh, mama, she wants to know our story.”
“I’m telling this one because we cannot trust mommy to tell the whole story, right?” You giggled as you tickled your daughter. “Okay, where do we start, hmm?”
“Start when you saw me across the room and fell in love with me.”
“I think that was the other way around, honey.”
“Touché.” Emily carried Ellie on her lap and hugged her. “Mama’s just so pretty that mommy cannot help but fall in love with her.”
Ellie giggled. “Mama pwetty!”
“That’s right, she is.” Emily smirked. “Mommy’s lucky.”
“Mommy, you pwetty too!”
You grinned. “She is. And you are our pretty little baby, Ellie.” You leaned in and kissed her forehead. “I love you so much.”
Ellie reached out and hugged your neck. “Wuv you, mama.” She planted a kiss on your cheek. “Sowwy I stubbo’n ‘bout veggies.”
Your heart swelled with love for your daughter. Emily squeezed your hand when she noticed the tears pooling in your eyes. “It’s alright, honey.” You said.
After telling your daughter more of how her mothers met, with a little too much protests from your wife about the inconsistencies about your story, Ellie eventually fell asleep hugging her stuffed giraffe.
“I told you she doesn’t hate you.” Emily spoke once you’re both in your bed, snuggling from behind and wrapping her arms around you. She planted a kiss on your exposed shoulder. “Don’t ever think that you’re a bad mom. Ellie is lucky to have you, and so am I.”
You didn’t say anything. Instead, you relaxed in your wife’s embrace.
And you believe her.

Best Mates
(Fuck boy!Aplha!Eddie Munson x Bestfriend!Omega!Reader)
Summary: You’ve always been in love with your bestfriend, you never thought anything would ever come of it until you present as an omega and he spends your heat with you. WK: 5.5k My Masterlist
Warnings: 18+MINDI Omegaverse so generall a/b/o behaviors. Scenting, knotting, marking, breeding kink, unprotected sex, possessiveness from both Eddie and reader, pining, heartbreak, Eddie leaves reader after her heat so there some angst but they get a happy ending. Pls lmk if I missed any!!
A/N: So this is my first time writing both omegaverse and angst, so I was pretty nervous going into this but I’m actually pretty proud of how it turned out! I’d love feedback, and reblogs are greatly appreciated! Also shout out to my Lessy poo for giving me some advice @lesservillain (divider used is by @firefly-graphics)
Eddie has been your best friend since middle school and you realized pretty early on that you were in love with him. You remember the exact moment, you were both 16 when a senior cheerleader pulled him into a janitor's closet and he fucked her up against the wall. He told you about it excitedly, in a particular Eddie fashion but each word felt like a knife to your heart. He got the van a few months after that and it only got worse from there. If it wasn’t cheerleaders sneaking around with him behind their boyfriends backs it was band girls who heard through the grapevine how good of a fuck he was asking him to take their virginity.
He would always rant and rave to you about his escapades during your weekly Friday night hang outs and each time it broke your heart. But you listened, because that’s what best best friends do. You’ve had a few boyfriends and you were no virgin yourself but you hardly ever went into details with him and it never worked out because none of them were Eddie. No matter how hard you tried not to compare them to him, you always did.
When you were 18 he presented as an alpha, you graduated and he didn’t, so you hoped maybe he would settle down and find an omega but even if he didn’t at least you wouldn’t be around him everyday anymore to see it. But that didn’t happen, instead he kept fucking men and women alike, omegas, betas, it didn’t matter to him as long as he had a warm hole to fill. You didn’t escape having to see it either, he would take people into the bathroom after shows at the hideout, leaving you to ride home with one of the other guys. You would overhear girls in your college classes whispering about him, how big he is, how hard they fucked them, and it not only broke you but it just made you want him more.
At twenty one you’ve yet to present and at this point you’d given up hope of it ever happening. Your mom is an alpha and your dad is an omega so you always thought you’d present, but you were starting to think you were wrong. That is until today.
You were laying in your bed, your sheets soaked through with slick and sweat, whining with your hand between your legs desperately trying to relieve the pressure, even just a little bit. But nothing was helping, you even tried to use your toy which you quickly learned was a mistake, the vibrations too much for your sensitive clit. You considered calling Eddie, more than once, even going as far as to pull up his contact on your phone before talking yourself out of it. You didn’t want him like this, not just because he felt obligated to help you but because you wanted him to want you because you were you. That’s all you ever wanted.
He had texted you several times, and called twice but you couldn’t bring it in yourself to answer him. He would know something was off with you immediately and wouldn’t believe you if you lied. You felt hopeless as you rolled around in your bed, the only thing that offered you any sort of comfort was the flannel he had left at your house last week. You hugged it tight to your body, the bottom half clenched between your thighs, the other end held up to your nose as you inhaled his scent.
You were half drifted off, still clutching his flannel for dear life when you heard a knock on your door. You groaned, rolling over and deciding to ignore it, there was no way you could answer the door like this. You ditched your tank top and panties hours ago, your hair is all over the place from rolling around in your sweat, and most of all you physically don’t feel like you can move right now. That plan was quickly thrown out the window when you heard it again, this time it wasn’t just a knock though, someone was pounding on your door.
You didn't have to wonder who it was for long, his voice yelling out your name as the loud knocks persisted. Why the fuck was he here? You knew he had plans tonight so you figured he wouldn’t notice you hadn’t replied until later. It only made you want to ignore it more, you couldn’t face him, not like this.
“Open this fucking door or I’m going to break it down!! I know you’re in there I can smell you!”
Fuck. You didn’t even think about the fact that he could probably smell your heat, even from where he was. You wanted to ignore him, let him bang on the door until he finally gave up, but something told you he wouldn’t. That he would really break down your door to get to you, and you couldn’t help the warm feeling that filled your insides at the thought of him breaking down the door just to get to you. You knew you couldn’t resist him, not physically, even if your mind really wanted you to.
You groaned as you peeled yourself from your bed, grabbing some soft cotton panties out of your drawer and throwing his flannel over you without even really thinking about it. You felt dizzy and weak as you dragged yourself to the front door, but as soon as you hit the hallway it was like someone woke you up. You could smell him and the smell instantly brought the same kind of comfort as the flannel, if smelling him from here felt this amazing you could only imagine what it would be like to shove your nose in his neck and just inhale.
Suddenly the doubts in your mind were gone, you couldn’t even remember why you didn’t want to answer the door in the first place. You just want Eddie. Your pace picks up as you walk down your small apartment hallway and rip the door open. You smell him two seconds before your eyes meet and you feel like someone just knocked the wind out of you. His nostrils are flared, his pupils are dilated to the point that his eyes look black, the look in them wild.
“Why the fuck didn’t you call me?”
He doesn’t wait for an answer, just pushes past you into your apartment, slamming and locking the door behind him. He walks up to you so you’re toe to toe with him, he’s towering over you, staring into your eyes with lust and fury.
“I’m serious, why didn’t you fucking call me? I called you, you could’ve told me what was going on, you know I would’ve helped you.” His voice is deeper than you’ve ever heard it, that combined with smelling him this close makes you whimper and you feel a rush of slick drip down your legs, right through the panties you just put on.
“I - I didn’t want you to feel pressured to help me Eddie, I know you’d only be doing it because you feel bad.” You wanted to break eye contact but you felt like he had you locked in place without even touching you.
“Pressured? You really think I would feel pressured? You don’t think I’d come just because I want to help my best friend through this?”
Best friend. Hearing those words come out of his mouth right now almost makes you gag.
“I don’t know.” You just shrug, not sure what else to say.
It’s then that he takes a second to take you in. You’re wearing his flannel and it’s not even buttoned so he can see everything but your nipples, you have on these little white cotton panties, there’s slick dripping down your legs and your fucking smell. He’s never smelled anything like it, anything better. He’s scented and knotted several other omegas, but no ones ever smelled as good as you.
He inhales deeply, reaching out to rest his hands on your shoulders.
“Let me help you little omega, you smell so good, I can smell how badly you want me.” His hands run up your shoulders and rub over your neck, right where your scent gland is, and even just this simple touch makes your head spin even more. You want him to kiss you there. Bite you. You wanted him to mate you, but you’d never tell him that.
“Okay.”
It came out small and shaky but it was enough for him. He surges forward and crashes his lips against yours, his tongue immediately swiping over your bottom lip. When it intertwines with yours you moan at the taste of him. He pulls away, kissing down your jaw to that spot on your neck and your knees buckle. He catches you with ease, picking you up bridal style and carrying you to your room.
He tosses you on the bed and it causes the flannel to fall open, exposing your tits fully to him. Your legs are spread without you even realizing it and he can see how truly soaked you are now.
“Look at you baby, wearing my flannel, you have no idea what that’s doing to me. You look so fucking sexy and smell so fucking good. Gonna make you mine, my omega.” He’s not even really thinking about what he’s saying now, your scent and the sight of you so desperate for him clouding his mind. “I need to taste you.”
He lays down between your legs and immediately attaches his mouth to your clothed core, swirling his tongue over your overly sensitive clit with a groan. You moan loudly and arch your back.
“Eddie, Eddie, please please don’t tease me, make me feel good, I need you. I can't wait anymore.” He continues lapping at your clothed pussy for a few more seconds before pulling away.
“You want my knot, princess? Is that what you’re saying? I wanna hear you say it.” The people who you are outside this moment are completely gone, all thoughts of friendship and consequences out the window.
“Please please please, want it so bad.” You’re wiggling under him, your hips rocking back and forth in search of friction, you can’t take it anymore you’ve been aching for hours and your body knew it was aching for him.
“You don’t need to beg, sweet girl, I’ve got you. Let’s get these off…”
You barely have time to process what’s happening before he’s ripping your panties clean in half, bringing them to his mouth and sucking your juices before throwing them over his shoulder. He hastily rips the flannel from your body before tossing it in the same direction. He stands up momentarily to hastily rip off his own clothes, your eyes widen when you see him fully bare in front of you.
He’s more buff than he used to be and his pale skin is littered with more tattoos than he had a few years ago, his brown curls are even messier than usual and when your eyes trail down his body they pause at the little trail of hair under his belly button before stopping at his cock. You’ve heard rumors about it for years, you’ve seen it through his sweatpants more times than you could count but nothing could’ve prepared you for the real thing.
“Alpha, I want you inside me, fill me up please please.” You hardly even recognize your own voice anymore but you’d do or say anything to have him inside you right now.
“It’s okay baby, I’m going to make it all better, make all the pain go away, yeah?”
He comes back up onto the bed between your legs, grabbing them and placing them on either side of his thighs. He grabs his cock in his hand and pumps it a few times before slowly inserting the tip inside you. He wants to take his time with you, he really does, but he just can’t. He slams the rest of the way into you in one stroke, he leans over you on his forearms and starts fucking you at a brutal pace.
The weight of his body and the feeling of him filling you up so perfectly has an unexpected orgasm crashing through you immediately. The relief you’ve been seeking for hours brought onto you in mere minutes. He continues to pound into you, his cock hitting that perfect spot over and over again. You turn your face to run your nose along his neck and inhale his scent, the smell sending you hurtling into another mind blowing orgasm. He kept fucking you hard and deep, pushing you to the edge over and over again.
“Fuck! Eddieeee you feel so fucking - so fucking good, so so good. Thank you alpha thank you thank you.” You’ve been moaning and saying things you never thought you’d have the courage to say, the moans coming out of your mouth were sounds you didn’t even know you were capable of making.
“This pussy feels so fucking good, feels like it was made for my cock. Tell me it’s mine, tell me this pussy belongs to me.”
“It’s yours - it’s yours! Only y-yours, my pussy belongs to you alpha!”
He growls into your neck as he leaves hot wet kisses over your scent gland, his thirsts start to grow sloppy and you feel his teeth nipping lightly at your flesh and you want him to just bite down.
“You’re so fucking good for me, such a good fucking girl. You’re gonna make me fucking cum.” You feel his cock twitch inside you the same moment you feel his teeth sink into your neck, the feeling sends a warmth through your body you’ve never felt before and you barely have time to process that feeling because seconds later he’s painting your walls with his cum. The feeling makes you cum right along with him but the euphoria is short lived when you feel a stabbing pain inside you.
“Shh shh, baby it’s okay, it’s just my knot, it’s only gonna hurt for a second I promise.” His voice is soft and calming, a stark contrast from the deep commanding tone he’d had since he showed up at your door. His hand reaches up to cup your jaw, rubbing his thumb over your cheek while his nose nuzzles into the bite on your neck. After a moment the pain subsides and is replaced by overwhelming pleasure, sending you into a final orgasm.
“You okay?” He pushes up on his forearms to look at you and he almost feels like he’s gonna cum again. Your hair is a mess, your face is flushed, your skin slick with sweat, and his bite mark, slightly bloody, is displayed on your neck. He knew it wouldn’t take, since you didn’t ask him, but that didn’t stop him from imagining that it did, imagining you were his.
“Yeah, I’m good, I still - I’m still…” you struggled to find the words to describe how you were feeling.
“You feel satisfied but like you still want more, is that it?” His thumb runs over your cheek again and he leans down to rub his nose against yours, the gesture so gentle it almost brings you to tears.
“Mhm.” You nod.
“Well don’t worry babe, you’re stuck with me for the next week. I’ll be here for you, okay?” He grabs onto you so he can roll over onto his back with you on top of him. He lightly puts his hand on your back, pushing you down so your chest is flat against his and he can run his hands along your bare body.
“Okay Eddie, thank you…”
He kept his word and stayed with you through your entire heat, having one of the guys drop some stuff off for the both of you. He doted on you, fucked you and knotted you more times than you could count that it almost made you forget that he wasn’t really your mate, that he was just doing this to help his best friend. So the day you woke up feeling normal and he left to return to his regular life, to return to just being your best friend, you felt like he took a piece of you with him.
Tumblr media
You hadn’t seen Eddie all week, which wasn’t that out of the ordinary these days since you both had work and you had classes. He’s called you a few times but you dodged them, only responding to a few of his many texts with short replies. Even managing to dodge your Friday night hang out under the guise of helping a friend with guy troubles.
But tonight Robin and Steve were dragging you to a party and you knew Eddie would be there because he asked you if you were going. You didn’t go overboard getting ready but you did wear your favorite little black dress and add a little more makeup than you usually would. If you were going to see him you were at least going to look hot.
When you get to the party you can already tell he was there. You haven’t laid eyes on him yet but the moment you walked into the door you could smell him. Even through all the smoke, bodies, and spilled beer you could smell his warm musky scent clear as day. It made you dizzy, it made you want to run. You weren’t sure if it was towards him or straight out of the party, you just knew you wanted to run.
You were one drink of mystery punch in when you finally laid eyes on him and you immediately knew which way you wanted to run. He was in the living room, with this beta girl from your English class pressed up against the wall. Your red cup slipped from your grasp and crashed onto the floor, the remaining liquid splashing all over the ground and your feet. You immediately dashed for the door, slipping in the liquid and bumping into a table that had a game of beer pong going on it.
The beer spilled all over the ground and the table tipped back and forth for a moment before landing back on its four legs. Almost every set of eyes there was on you, including the pair you wanted on you the least. You locked eyes with him for a moment, his filled with concern and something else you couldn’t decipher and yours brimmed with tears. You saw him start to untangle from the girl and took that as your sign to bolt. You ran out of the party and down the street, not even caring how you got home.
Tumblr media
It’s been a few days since then but it felt like weeks. Eddie had called and texted you more times than you could count at this point. You had avoided every single one up until he threatened to just come over again to which you responded “I need time.” He stopped texting you after that.
You were on autopilot, work and class going by in a daze. You finally had the day off and Robin agreed to come over to keep you company. She brought snacks and you watched a few movies together. You were worried that you would feel different around her after you presented since she was an alpha but she didn’t smell any different to you. When you realized you couldn’t smell any of the alphas you’ve been around, it hit you, Eddie mated you that day.
When Robin leaves you’re back sitting with your thoughts of Eddie. What he might be doing, who he might be doing. You missed him and you hated it. You sighed as your hand subconsciously made its way up to the now almost healed bite on your neck. It had started to scab and show signs of scarring and each time you saw it your heart broke a little more. How could you be so stupid? You thought since you didn’t vocalize that you wanted him to mate you it wasn’t supposed to stick, but it did.
Once you realized it, everything started to make sense. The way you could smell him the minute you walked into that party, how you couldn’t smell any other alphas, the piece of you that felt like it was missing without him around. Eddie was your mate and he was still out fucking around with other people. It made you sick.
Your thoughts are disrupted by a banging on the door and the minute you hear his voice calling your name it’s like you're sent back to that day that he came to you when you needed him most. Part of you wanted to ignore him, let him bang on the door until he gave up, but the part of you that wanted to see him outweighed it.
When you open the door he’s standing there looking just as wild as that day but something about his scent is off and it makes you gag.
“We need to talk.” He looks and sounds pissed and it makes you scoff.
“Yeah? Why don’t you go talk to whatever fucking omega you smell like right now because you fucking reak.” You wrinkle your nose at him and scowl. Was he seriously pissed at you right now?
“That’s what we need to fucking talk about! Can I please just fucking come in?” He can tell you’re about to argue with him further so he just walks past you, leaving you in the doorway with your mouth hanging open.
“What the hell do you want from me Eddie!? You fucking mated me and then you left me! I see you a week later with your tongue down some girl's throat and now you show up at my door smelling like another omega!? Asking to TALK!? Okay let’s fucking talk Eddie. We can talk. Let’s talk about how you’ve made me feel for almost our entire lives!! From the minute you fucked Allison in that janitors closet you’ve been breaking my fucking heart! Every single time you tell me about your hook ups it makes me want to fucking DIE Eddie!! But I sit there and I listen because I’m a good best friend and I could take it as long as you were still in my life! But then you come here, you spend my heat with me and you treat me like I mean the world to you, like your mate, then you just LEAVE and act like none of it ever happened!! I can’t take it anymore!! I can’t let you hurt me like this anymore Eddie I can’t!”
Tears are streaming down your face and your voice is cracking from yelling, you bang your fits on his solid chest while you sob. “FUCK YOU EDDIE MUNSON!! I hate you I hate you I-“
Your rant is cut off by him grabbing your face and kissing you roughly. You grab onto his hair and pull him closer, no matter how much you want to push him away your body betrays you. After a second you pull back with a fire in your eyes, and slap him across the face.
“Princess… baby, you need to calm down.” His voice comes out stern, matter of fact, and it takes everything in you to resist his command.
“Calm down!? Calm down!? You told me you wanted to talk, kissing me to shut me up isn’t talking, Edward!”
“You WEREN’T LETTING ME TALK!! If you just listen to me for five fucking seconds!! I didn’t fucking know okay!? I didn’t know I mated you until TODAY. I thought since you didn’t ask me to mate you it wouldn’t stick, it never has before, but you’re different. You are my mate and I think my heart always knew that even if my brain was too dumb to realize it!”
“So what? It took you fucking TWO other people for you to realize I was the one for you? How fucking romantic!!”
“I didn’t fuck them!! I couldn’t, okay!? After I smelled you at the party from across the room I tired to fuck that beta chick at that party to get you off my mind but I couldn’t even get hard. I figured maybe it was just because she was a beta so I tried to be with another omega and she smelled DISGUSTING to me, the minute her arms wrapped around me I GAGGED and I came straight here!!”
“You didn’t fuck them but you still let them touch you!! You went to them! You tried! When you’re fucking mine Eddie! Do you know how much that hurts!?” You try to push him back but he grabs onto your wrists to hold you in place.
“You’re saying all this but I can smell alpha on you, and all over this entire apartment!!” He’s holding your wrists to his chest to keep you close, his eyes are boring into yours and you feel like he’s trying to look into your soul.
“Yeah ROBIN!! She came over to keep me company because I was wallowing in self pity over your dumb ass!! I CAN’T EVEN SMELL HER EDDIE! I can’t smell any other alphas besides you!!” You struggle against his hold, just wanting to back away from his scent that’s clouding your mind.
“Princess… calm down.” He’s using his alpha voice on you again and even though your body wants nothing more than to obey his command your anger outweighs it.
“Take your clothes off and get on the fucking couch Eddie. Now.” Your voice is stern and matter of fact, your eyes filled with fury so he decides not to question you. Dropping your wrists from his hold, stripping himself before walking over to the couch to lay back on it. He wanted to please you just as much as you wanted to please him. At this point he would do anything to prove to you that he’s yours.
He watches with wide eyes as you strip yourself as well, walking over to stand over him. The look on your face is one he’s only ever seen a few times, pure rage. You looked like you wanted to rip him to pieces, it was honestly turning him on. You swing your leg over his hips so you can straddle him and he moans when he feels your wet pussy touch his thigh.
“Ugh - god you smell fucking horrible Eddie.”
The scent of the other omega still lingered on his skin and you wanted to rip it off. You glare at him as you grab his cock in your hand and spit on it, pumping him a few times before raising up to line him up with your entrance, immediately slamming down on him and inserting him fully inside you. You don’t even give him time to process the feeling of your warm pussy engulfing him, you just start riding him like your life depends on it, because right now it feels like it does. He’s a moaning mess beneath you, his hands gripping onto your hips for dear life while he watches you bounce on his cock, mesmerized by the sight of you.
“Tell me whose cock this is Eddie, tell me who you belong to.” Your hips are flush against his while you rock back and forth on his cock, his head rubbing against your g-spot deliciously. Your hands are planted on his chest and your nails dig into his flesh, wanting to mark him in any way possible.
“It’s your - yours baby! I promise I p-promise, it’s always - fuck! - it’s always been yours!!” You start bouncing on his cock again, using his chest for leverage to slam up and down on him over and over again.
“You’re fucking mine Eddie, my Alpha!! Mine mine mine.” You drag your nails down his chest before leaning forward to rub your nose along his neck. You felt a rush of relief when it only smelled like him, she might’ve touched him but she didn’t scent him.
Your hips slowed and Eddie took it as an opportunity to tighten his grip on your hips and start fucking up into you.
“I’m yours and you’re mine princess.” He’s pistoling his cock into you now, getting deeper and going harder than you could yourself and an orgasm quickly creeps up on you. He feels you clench around him while your cum coats his cock. “This is my fucking pussy, you’re my fucking omega.”
You’re moaning so loud you’re sure your neighbors can hear you, your nails digging so deep into his chest that they’re breaking skin now and your nose is shoved into his neck, inhaling his scent while he fucks you so hard it makes you whole body vibrate. You latch your lips onto his neck and suck causing him to throw his head back and growl, fucking you impossibly harder.
“Gonna fill this fucking pussy up, maybe I’ll knock you up then everyone will know exactly who you belong to. Who I belong to.” His hands grip onto your ass and he plants his feet onto the couch as his thrusts pick up, the thought of you with his baby inside you making him insane.
“Yes y - yes! Breed my pussy alpha! Fill me up! I want it I - f - fuck! I want it so bad please please.”
“Yeah baby? You want that? Want me to fuck a baby into you?” You whimper and nod into his neck but that’s not enough for him, he grabs you by your hair pulling your face up so he can look you in the eyes. “Tell me you want it, tell me you want me to fuck a baby into, tell me you’re mine.”
“I’m yours! I’m yours! I’ve always been yours, I want it, I want you to breed me alpha!”
The sound of you begging him to begging him to do the one thing his body is programmed to do above all else drives him insane. He knows you aren’t on any kind of omega safe birth control yet and the possibility of it sticking makes him absolutely feral.
“Mark me Eddie, I want you to mate me!” He looks at the almost healed bite mark on your neck, you both know he technically already did but he understands what you mean, understands that you want to know it’s happening this time. So he runs his nose along the mark before sinking his teeth into your throat.
The feeling sends you both over the edge. Your walls tighten around him while he pumps you full of his cum. A few seconds later you feel that now familiar stinging as his knot expands inside you. He grabs your face in his hands and kisses you with a passion that you’ve always dreamed of. This kiss feels like your real first kiss and it makes warmth blossom inside you. He pulls away so he can look you in the eyes, his hands still cupping your face while he rubs his thumbs over your cheeks.
“I love you, you know? I’ve always loved you. I just never thought I was good enough, never thought you would feel the same way. So I pushed those feelings down, and buried them in person after person and I know that’s awful. But please let me prove to you how much you mean to me, forever.”
“I love you Eddie Munson, even though you’re a huge idiot sometimes, how you didn’t see it is beyond me. I feel like I was blindingly obvious.” You chuckle and playfully roll your eyes at him.
“I’m sorry, for all the hurt I’ve put you through, I promise I’ll never hurt you again, okay? You’re my mate now, I’m only going to protect you from here on out.” He places a gentle kiss on your lips, just basking in the feeling of you.
“It’s okay Eddie, you’re mine now, and I’m not letting you go.” You lay your head on his chest and reach your hand up to tangle your fingers in his hair, running your nails over his scalp.
“You think it’ll stick?”
“You were serious about that? I don’t know, only time will tell. If it doesn’t, we could always try again.” He groans and you feel him twitch inside you.
“Okay maybe let’s talk about this later because my knot is never gonna go down if I keep thinking about getting you pregnant and I really want to take a shower.” You both laugh, the kind of laughing you’ve always done together and it makes you feel whole again.
“I love you Eddie.”
“I love you princess, I’m going to spend every single day until my last proving that to you.”
You giggle and nuzzle into his neck, it feels so right, being in his arms like this. It feels like home.

Implode (Azriel X Female! Reader)
Summary: You were an anomaly. 300 years ago you fell from the sky, a star personified, taking the form of a High Fae. When Rhysand found you and realized your power you became a part of his inner circle. It wasn’t until years later that you realized that his spymaster was your mate. Still the question lingered in your mind leaving you never fully satisfied, “Why am I here?” Perhaps the losing battle with Hybern would answer that.
A/N: Just thought I would take some time and get some Azriel on the masterlist! And hey look I wrote something where they don’t suck and fuck. But don’t get used to it, as a scorpio it ain’t really my style.
Warnings: Heavy angst, alludes to smut (you knew there was gonna be a lil somethin it’s Azriel for christ sake), blood, I wrote this in the middle of the night so probably grammar mistakes

The war with Hybern was an ongoing one, and one that’s been hundreds of years in the making. So far the Night Court had yet to engage but I could feel Rhysand growing restless. Velaris was safe, but for how much longer? A few months ago he talked about taking the fight to Hybern, sooner rather than later, in order to try and protect his civilians. As his third in command I agreed with him.
I became Rhysand’s third in command several years ago after finally earning his trust. I wasn’t always part of his beloved inner circle, in fact when I fell from the sky I spent the first month on Prythian in the Hewn City dungeons. Rhys wanted to know why I had fallen into his court, but the truth was I didn’t know. The only memory I had was an image of the night sky, followed by falling, and then Azriel found me in the grass. Of course this wasn’t a good enough answer for the High Lord but after Rhysand finally realized that I was telling the truth about where I was from. We spent the next several years trying to figure out how it could be but found nothing.
Nevertheless I grew to love Velaris and the place I now called home. I loved late night drinks with Mor, decorating the townhouse with Cassian for Solstice, talking politics with Rhysand, teasing the others with Amren, but most of all I loved Azriel.
Even though Azriel was the one who found me, the bond didn’t snap into place right away. I had always had an affinity for the Illyrian, and even though I was once a non-sentient being, I knew that by all standards he was gorgeous. He seemed to have the same attraction to me as well, though we never acted on it. It wasn’t until a drunken night at Rita’s about 100 years after he found me that we realized we were mates.
The inner circle had gotten together for dinner, and dinner had turned into a couple bottles of wine and a couple turned into way too many. Azriel and I had been throwing flirty glances back and forth all night, finally having the liquid courage to do so. I ended up being the first to leave that night and of course Azriel offered to fly me home…
“There is no way you’re walking home, not in those shoes,” Azriel laughed.
“What’s the matter with my shoes?” I protest swigging the last sip of my wine.
“You’re gonna bust your ass starchild,” Cassian said using my nickname he gave me years ago.
“I most certainly am not!” I slur. I go to stand up from the booth to prove my point and nearly topple over causing the table to shift and Mor to spill some of her wine. The whole group erupted in laughter.
“Come on y/n, I’ll fly you home,” Azriel chuckled, rising from the booth.
I braced myself on his shoulder to slip the stilettos off my feet so I could hold them in my hands. The second my bare feet hit the ground I was reminded by how much larger he was than me, and in my wine drunk state my stomach bottomed out in arousal. I waved goodbye to everyone as Az led me out of the small club.
“Tonight was fun,” I smiled drunkenly, my feet touching the cold wet cobblestones just outside Rita’s. I started to wobble a bit when Azriel grabbed me by my waist and hauled me up. All I could do was look into his golden eyes as I felt his hand spread across the bare skin there from my backless dress.
I didn’t think twice before grabbing him by the collar and pulling him in for a kiss. The second I did it I realized what I had done, and I would’ve panicked if it had not been for the moan that fell from his lips as I pulled back. His other hand hit my waist pulling me closer to him making me stand on my tip toes. I felt my back hit the wall outside Rita’s as he deepened the kiss.
“God I’ve wanted to do this for so long,” he groans, grip tightening on my waist.
“Then what’s keeping you from doing it again, Shadowsinger?” I smirk.
“Not a damn thing,” he smiled, connecting our lips again.
I was a mess of pure lust, because just like him, I had been dying to do this for years. Even dreaming about it on several occasions. But to have it happening was the most intense feeling I had ever known. My head was so clouded with need that I barely felt his mouth leave mine to kiss my neck. I tangled my hands in his hair pulling him closer and he reached his hands under my legs and picked me up so I wouldn’t have to strain to meet him.
He kissed a spot on my neck that was particularly sensitive, coaxing a moan from my mouth that drove him so wild he bit me. That was the moment we felt it. That mating bond snapping into place. He whipped his head back to meet my eyes, looking to see if I had felt it too.
“Oh my gods,” I breathed.
“We’re mates,” he stated though his own ragged breaths.
“Yes, mates,” I choked out, my brain still too cloudy to say anything as I searched his face for a sign of dread. Maybe he didn’t want to be mated, to me.
A smile broke his lips as he pressed his forehead to mine, “We’re mates,” he said again like he was trying to assure himself it was true.
“We are,” I giggled, happy to see that he was okay with this, that he wanted it as much as I did.
“You’re my mate,” he smiled, brushing stray hair from my face.
“Your mate,” I laughed joyously, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. I heard the door to Rita’s swing open.
“I knew it!” Mor screamed drunkenly. “I knew they were secretly dating, Cassian, you owe me 50 gold!”
“Not dating, mates.” Azriel barked proudly.
“Ha! Mor you owe me 100 gold now!” Rhysand laughed at Mor.
“That’s too bad Az I was hoping y/n could give me a ride later,” Cassian taunted earning a possessive growl from Azriel. The whole group laughed.
Needless to say Azriel flew me to the cabin in the Illyrian mountains that night and we didn’t leave for two weeks straight.
…that was years ago and since then our family has had new additions like Rhysand’s mate Feyre and her sisters. One thing hadn’t changed though, me and Azriel’s mated bliss.
I was waiting in the townhouse living room with the entire inner circle to talk about war plans. Well, most of the inner circle, Cassian and Azriel had taken a trip to inform the Illyrians that war was indeed coming and had been gone for a week.
“Thanks again for the wine, Rhys!” I smile, holding up my glass and clinking it to Mor’s.
“I don’t think you’re supposed to thank the person you stole the wine from,” he rolls his eyes.
“Maybe not, but it makes me feel less guilty about it,” I laugh while taking another swig. I sit and observe Rhys watching Feyre’s every movement, feeling warm and fuzzy from seeing him so happy.
Almost as if in response a shadow brushes down my cheek and I see Rhysand’s eyes flit up behind me with a smirk. I turn in my chair to find Azriel leaning in the doorway.
“Az!” I yell, jumping up and thrusting my wine glass into Mor’s hand. He gives me a knowing smile as I jump into his arms.
“I missed you too, my little star,” he smiled holding me close.
Cassian walked in just moments after and we joined the others in the living room. The second we were seated, and Rhysand stood to address us, it was like all the joy was sucked out of the room. We all knew how serious the topic was, and how even though we had spent many months avoiding it, it had finally come to call.
“I’ve heard reports that Hybern’s army is gathering, and it’s bigger than we expected,” Rhys stated.
“How much bigger?” Amren inquired.
“We once believed his army to be 70,000 men, now we know that it's over 100,000.” he replied grimly. My heart sank at his words.
“Well what did Devlon say?” I ask Azriel.
“He said that the Illyrians would fight, but if Hybern has an army of over 100,000 it’s still cutting it close.” Az replied.
“How close are they to being fully assembled?” Cassian asks.
A beat of silence passes and Rhys looks to Feyre, “By the end of this week they will be on Prythian soil, maybe next week if we are lucky.” he divulges.
“What if we called upon Bryaxis? The Bone Carver? The Attor? They might come to our aid.”  Feyre pointed out and I didn’t miss the wince from Cassian at the mention of Bryaxis.
“That could help,” Rhysand nodded. “But there’s no telling what they’ll do once the battle starts.”
“But it’s worth a shot is it not?” Mor urged.
“We can look into it,” Rhysand nodded once more.
The rest of the night was filled with more talk of strategy and thinking of potential allies to call upon, but in the end Feyre’s suggestion was the best one. We all left the townhouse feeling more somber that night, something that rarely happened when we were all gathered together. Azriel flew us home and neither of us said anything.  I thought about what Rhys had said, and how we were resorting to calling upon monsters to come to our aid.  It wasn’t until after Azriel showered that he finally spoke up.
“You have no idea how good it feels to be home,” he groaned, flopping on the bed. I had slipped into one of my nightgowns and was sitting under the covers reading my book.
“I’m glad you’re home,” I smiled, running a hand through his wet hair. He plucked my bookmark for where it was beside me and placed it in my open book. A habit that he picked up years ago when he grabbed my book from out of my hand in exchange for  a kiss and didn’t bookmark where I was. I had never been so furious with the man.
“Come here you,” he said, tossing my book to the side and pulling me into his chest. I giggled as he wrapped his arms around me, and breathed in. “You smell so good,” he practically  groans.
“You mean I don’t smell like a sweaty Illyrian?” I chuckle, pressing a kiss to his bare chest.
“Yes, precisely,” he laughs, looking down at me with love and adoration. “Have I ever told you that you get kind of glowy at night? Like you literally have a faint glow about you.”
“Well I am a star,” I smile, pulling my hand out of the cocoon he has me in to let some starlight dance off my fingers.
“How could I ever forget,” he smiles, pressing a kiss to my brow.
A moment of silence passes and I can’t help but think about the war again, this time I don’t keep quiet about my fears.
“What do you think we’re going to do about Hybern?” I whisper.
“I don’t know,” he admits. “All we can do is hope that our allies come.”
“But even then, will it be enough?” I ask.
“It might be, but there’s no telling.” he states honestly.
“Could this really be the end of everything? Everything we’ve ever known will be ripped away from us. Velaris, our family, the two of us.” I confess.
“Hey,” he coos, taking my face in his hands, “Don’t think like that. We’re going to figure this out. I won’t let anything hurt you.”
“And who’s going to take care of you?” I ask, tears brimming my eyes.
“Rhys and Cassian,” he says. I know he feels my fear too, that he’s trying to put on a brave face for his mate. But the fact of the matter is that this is war, and not everyone is coming home. Part of me wants to interrogate further, but I know no matter how many times I ask or rephrase the question, I’m going to get the same answer. Because at the end of the day, neither of us knows what is going to happen.
So I just burrow my head into his chest and say, “Don’t you dare leave me Az.”
"Never mate, never."
That night I dream of clashing swords and soaring Illyrians. I hear war cries and screams of agony. I see blood and mud and bodies skewed across a battlefield. I smell death and decay and burnt flesh. I feel dread and despair. But then there is a blinding light, and there is peace and I hear nothing at all.
Tumblr media
I wake the next morning from my dream and slip of out Azriel’s grasp, thankful that he was so tired from the trip from Windhaven that he doesn’t even stir. I get dressed and make my way to Rhysand’s town house. It had taken me all morning to realize what I had been shown in my dream, what it meant. I could only hope that my High Lord would understand it as I did.
I reach his office door and hesitate to knock. I don’t know why, I’ve known the man for hundreds of years. Eventually I do.
“Come in,” Rhysand beckons.
I step in and immediately wish I had kept my mental shields up, I feel Rhys probe my  mind and catch a small glimpse of my thoughts. Before he can speak I cut in first.
“We need to talk to Rhys,” I say curtly.
“No y/n we aren’t having this conversation,” he dismisses me turning back to his papers.
“Rhys, I can end this war,” I argue.
“I won’t let you, not in the way you are thinking right now,” he bristles.
“Rhys, listen to me! I can take out the king and half of his army before he even lands a blow on you guys!” I inform him.
“How?” he stops and asks in a demeaning fashion.
I take a deep breath and take a step closer to him. “What do stars do when they die Rhys?” I say slowly.
A deafening silence fills the room, and I see his violet eyes fill with an understanding and realization.
“They explode,” he states.
“And they take Hybern and half of his army with them,” I reiterate, bracing my arms against his desk.
“You would die though,” he states in a way that’s more like a question.
“Yes I would die,” I confirm.
“You would do that to Azriel?” he asks, not believing what I was saying.
“No, but I would do it for him,” I say earnestly.
“Absolutely not, I won’t let Azriel lose his mate.” he says and it sounds more like an order.
I don’t flinch. I knew Rhysand would say this so I continue with my already prepared speech. “You’ll change your mind. When you realize you have more to lose than you originally thought. When you realize that your mate’s life hangs in the balance. That all you’ve gained lies in the balance. You’ll change your mind, and I’ll be ready when you do.”
“So I’m supposed to sacrifice you to save myself? Sacrifice Azriel’s mate to save my own?” he argues.
“You’re not sacrificing me. I’m choosing this. Choosing to give Azriel a chance to live. A chance at life… My final gift, to him, to all of you.” I start. “My whole life, it has never made sense as to why I’m here. Why a star fell from the sky and just happened to find Azriel. But now it does, this was the reason.” I explain.
There’s another silence in the room as Rhysand takes in all that I’ve said. My explanation for being here. Because I was right, it never did make sense that I would be a star personified. Yet here I was.
“You shouldn’t have to do this,” he says sadly, seemingly accepting that this might be the only chance he has to save Prythian.
“This is war Rhys, not a fairytale. Sacrifices must be made, for the greater good.” I say firmly.
“How are we supposed to tell Azriel this plan?” he asks, running a hand through his hair, stress evident on his face.
I know that everything I’ve told Rhys up until this point has angered and hurt him, but I have one last bandage to rip off, “We’re not going to tell him,” I deadpan.
“Y/n you know-”
“That he won’t let me do this?” I cut him off. “Yes I do. That’s why we can’t tell him. I’ve made my choice, telling him won’t change anything. But it will taint the time we have left together. Let us have this last little bit of time and then I will end this war so that you can have more.” I plead.
Rhys doesn’t say anything as he once again takes in my words. But I see the acceptance in his demeanor as he stands up and walks around his desk. He doesn’t speak, he just pulls me into his arms and hugs me. I throw my arms around him as a tear falls from my face.
“You are the bravest person I’ve ever known. I can never repay you for your sacrifice, all I can do is promise you that you will forever be honored and remembered in this court,” he says and I can feel him crying.
“But there is something you can do,” I say.
“What? I’ll do anything.” he backs away to look me in the eye.
“Don’t let my sacrifice go to waste. Make sure that Azriel lives when all this is said and done.” I beg him, a tear slipping from my eye.
Tumblr media
The war comes quickly after that. or perhaps it just feels like it does because my life is suddenly on a timer. It isn't long until Hyberns forces gather on the shores of Prythian. We gather the Night Court's Army, the Illyrians and all the allies we can and march to meet them.
The war camp is a mess of fires, blades and soldiers of every kind. I’m practically glued to Azriel’s side, not only because I’m trying to soak up every lasting moment with him, but because he said, and I quote, “I would rather die than leave my devastatingly beautiful mate alone in a campsite full of war bound men looking for one last lay before the battlefield.”
The night before the battle Azriel made love to me in our tent, neither of us daring to say that it could be the last time we would ever get to lie with one another.  Only Rhysand and I knew about the plan. It was too risky to tell anyone else, and like I had explained to Rhys before, I didn't want Azriel and I’s last days together to be tainted with constant tears. If I was going to die, I wanted us to be us.
That’s how we found ourselves here, at the front lines, our entire army behind us. Thankfully we were on top of a hill giving us somewhat of an upper hand. Bryaxis, The Bone Carver,  and The Attor had in fact come to our aid, giving them the upperhand to deal with those who went unaffected by my blast. As we looked out over Hybern’s army that was a little over 400 yards away I couldn’t help but to cower into Azriel’s side. I looked to see Feyre doing the same to Rhys behind us. He made eye contact with me, and as I heard Hybern’s army in the background I knew it was time.
I stepped away from Azriel’s side and faced him. Took in every single curve of his face, and the way that his eyes caught the sun. I ran my hand down his cheek and he gave me a half smile. I prayed to whoever was listening, that I would remember his face. That wherever I went next I would have the ability to remember every moment I got to share with him in this world, and be grateful for what a gift it was.
“Whatever happens out there today,” I start to say. “I want you to know that I love you. I know I’ve said it a million times, but I could’ve said it more, should have. And I want you to know that you were the greatest gift I’ve ever known, and that if this was all the time we had, I’m grateful for every moment of it. I was lucky enough to find you in this world, I promise to find you in every other one.” I tell him, a tear going down my face as I throw my arms around his neck.
I can feel him smile into my shoulder as he says, “I love you too mate.”
I hold him tightly for the last time and open my eyes to find Rhys staring at me waiting for the signal. “Now,” I mouth to Rhys and he uses his magic to restrain Azriel. I slip one of Azriel’s daggers out his pocket, being sure to avoid Truth Teller, and I turn around and begin to walk down the hill towards Hybern’s Army.
Rhys and I had spent plenty of time coming up with the plan. I had to arrive at the battlefield without weapons, just leathers. I had never used weapons before, having always relied solely on my magic. It would’ve raised suspicion if I had brought any. We made sure our army was far enough away that with the efforts of Rhysand’s wards and the distance, the blast wouldn’t impact our own forces. I walked down to the army alone, appearing as though I am coming as an emissary to speak to them, after all I was just a tiny female, what harm could I do?
I walked with my chin held high, trying to appear as if I was a collected soldier coming to speak on behalf of my general. It was the hardest and longest walk of my life, as no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t drown out the screams of my mate behind me.
“Y/N WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Azriel screamed, his voice already horse. “RHYS LET ME GO SHE’S GOING DOWN THERE ALL BY HERSELF!”
I shudder at his words and try to keep a stiff upper lip as I get closer to Hybern’s army.
“HE’S GOING TO KILL HER, LET ME GO!” Azriel growled, a voice so deadly it could only belong to a male who’s mate was in danger.
As I get even closer I see the King of Hybern emerge from the army readying himself to receive my message.
“CASSIAN COMMAND THE ARMY TO OPEN FIRE!” Azriel pleads and I can hear him struggling against Rhys’ power.
“Cassian hold our position!” Rhysand bellows.
“Rhys what the fuck?!” Cassain shouts.
“THAT’S AN ORDER GENERAL!” Rhysand screams, sounding more like a High Lord than ever before.
I approach Hybern, dagger hidden behind me, lodged in my belt.
“PLEASE THAT’S MY MATE!”
I stand before the army.
“Have you come to surrender little one?” The King of Hybern croons, earring a laugh from his surrounding Generals and Captains.
“No, I’ve come to end you,” I muse.
I take a deep breath and pull the dagger from behind me and plunge it through my heart. The last thing I hear is Azriel’s scream before blinding white light erupts from me, and then I don’t feel anything at all.
Tumblr media
Azriel:
The battle is easily won but at what cost? After y/n put that dagger through her heart more than half of Hybern’s army was wiped off the face of the earth. The battle was bloody but short and in the aftermath I found myself searching the field for my little star, my mate.
“Y/N!” I scream for her, voice torn.
I scan my surroundings looking for any glimpse of her, but I don’t see her, and I don’t feel her anymore either. She’s not gone, she’s not gone, she’s not gone, I keep telling myself.
“Y/N!” I scream again as I continue to look.
I keep flying until I see her. She has about a three foot blast radius around her where not even the grass is still growing, and her small form is lying there, unmoving. I slam into the ground and run toward her.
“No, no, no, no!” I curse as I fall to my knees before her. She’s covered in blood and mud from being trampled.
I take her into my arms and she’s so cold. So small and so cold.
“Baby please wake up,” I cry, brushing her hair out of her face. “Come on, you said you wouldn’t leave me!”
I sense Rhys and Cassian landing behind me and I can hear Feyre’s sobs.
“Please, please, please baby I can’t live without you,” I press my forehead to hers.
I cry and I beg for what feels like hours, but she doesn’t wake up. I reach inside me to tug at the bond, my last ditch effort to bring her back, but when I reach inside myself there’s nothing there.

At first there was nothing, just Azriel’s scream echoing in my brain and then there was silence. But now flickering in the distance I saw him, saw my mate, and I knew then and there that this was the cauldron’s last gift to me.
“Azriel,” I sang into the void like subspace.
“Y/n?” he asked, unsure of what was happening. He was wearing his pants he always wore to bed, which meant I was seeing him in his dream.
“Yes it’s me Az,” I smile, tears brimming my eyes.
“I’m just dreaming right?” he asks again.
“No,” I laugh walking over to him, grabbing him by his forearms. “It’s really me. I’m here somehow.”
“Oh my gods, I’ve missed you so much,” he breaks, voice cracking as he hugs me tight.
“How long has it been since the battle?” I ask.
“A little over a week,” he says standing back so he can look at me. “Why y/n? Why did you do it?”
I nearly broke at his words, “This was always the plan Az, we just didn’t know it till now.” I explain.
“What do you mean?” he asks.
“I think the universe knew that I was supposed to save you. That’s why I fell from the sky, that’s why you found me. Why the cauldron made us mates.” I tell him, tears falling from my eyes as my hand wipes away his.
“Why didn’t you tell me though?” he cries.
“Would you have let me sacrifice myself if I did?” I ask. “I wanted my last few days with you to be as normal as they could be.”
Silent tears fall from his eyes, “But what do I do without you?”
“You live Azriel,” I smile. “You were the greatest joy I ever knew Az. I did this so you could live, with Cassian and Rhys. I told you I would find you in every world, you still have things to do in your world, but I’ll find you in this one too when your time comes.”
“How do I live without you?”
“You never will, I am a star after all.”

Little Secret Part 2
Alexia is desperate to fix everything somehow
Part 1
This is just Alexia grovelling to make up for the pure angst in the last part and also mother Ingrid saving the day once again
I didn’t even make a poll because I KNOW you’re all down bad and want a happy ending with Alexia so you’re getting it
More angst, fluff, comfort and then happy ending :)
-
When you showed up in training the next day it was like a switch had flipped. Your face was still a bit blotchy and swollen from the tears yesterday but you had managed not to cry the entire night like you’d done the past week, instead taking a few melatonin gummies to pass out into a deep sleep and be able to ignore Alexia’s constant messaging. You still couldn’t block her, seeing as she was the Captain and you needed to know if something was going on with the team, but you had her on silenced and ignored everything she sent. You wouldn’t have thought that you’d be so indifferent to her apologies, unable to believe one word of what she was saying. To be honest, you didn’t even understand why exactly she was so desperate to get you to believe her - it had all just been a fun little game for her, right?
You were completely wrong in your assumption, Alexia a wreck as she showed up late to training that day for the first time in forever, her eyes now also swollen and red. Alexia never cried, she just didn’t do it and much less would she ever leave the house with the evident of a crying session still visible. But the thought of you not only thinking that she didn’t like you but also now avoiding her and refusing vehemently to hear her out had been enough to make her cry in desperation, frustrated as she watched all of her texts going unread and her calls being declined. She had stood in front of your door for half an hour, desperately trying to get you to open the door. You never did. You never reacted to her messages either, not even bothering to read what you were convinced were just lies.
You didn’t know that it was the truth actually and Alexia needed you to understand. She was incredibly ashamed of herself, remembering how Ingrid had snapped back at her in the changing room, had warned her not to talk about you like that. The Norwegian had said that it just takes one wrong moment and you’d actually believe her words, you were still so young and relatively new to the team compared to others. And Ingrid had been right, you did believe it.
Alexia had thought about why, had pondered over an hour on how you could possibly believe her words. You were the greatest person she had ever met, there was a reason why she had been unable to leave you alone, why she had met up with you and tried to find out everything possible she could - despite the age gap and her more closed off personality. She had been enamoured with you from the beginning on, when you had shyly introduced yourself to her and it had not gone away over the next few months, the strong attraction and that feeling of being drawn to you only getting more intense as the time passed. She had felt so guilty for it, to be with someone who’s almost 10 years younger than her, someone who is so open and kind and happy - next to her, who was always seen as quite firm and strict. And Alexia was, she took pride in her discipline and in her endless endurance even as life took a few horrible turns. You had never seemed to mind her authoritarian attitude or how she was often rather stern, simply accepting that that’s how Alexia is and she appreciated it. If only she hadn’t failed at showing you how much she appreciated you and yourpersonality too. Not one word she had said about you to Ingrid had been true, she had just been so caught off guard by the Norwegian effortlessly catching the blossoming relationship between the two of you and in her panic she had done the wrong thing.
And then again, when she had stood in your doorway, had the chance to apologise and get you to hear her out. She wished nothing more than to turn back time to that moment. If she hadn’t immediately gotten so angry, if she hadn’t been so focused on her own hurt feelings after you had ignored her - completely justified - maybe she would have managed to convince you to hear her out. It would be even easier if she hadn’t said those insults in the first place, something she was incredibly angry with herself about.
What also bothered her was how she had chastised you during the last training session before it all went to shit, how she had told you to stop staring at her before anyone saw - only for Ingrid to catch the relationship between the two of you because of her. The Norwegian had told her that she had noticed the way Alexia looked at you, how her eyes were always fixed on you for way longer than necessary and how she was always the first at your side when you scored. So in the end you hadn’t even been responsible for others noticing but of course Alexia had been stricter than necessary on you. She hated herself for it all, wanting to do it all over and better now. If she had another chance she’d ask you out properly, ensure that you know she’s interested. She’d admit her feelings, tell you openly how much she loves you and appreciates you. She had never said it to you, despite having realised a few weeks back that she was hopelessly in love with you. Too scared of how strongly she was feeling and the huge age gap between the two of you, she had been a coward and refused to say it - no matter how much it wanted to slip out when you woke up next to her, hair tousled and lips puffy from sleep as you smiled at her. She’d give anything to go back to that moment, to hold you close once more and cherish you.
It was far from possible now, you acting like she was invisible and she didn’t want to bring too much attention to the two of you so Alexia didn’t really try to get you to hear her out. Her plan had originally been to corner you at the end of training and make you listen to her apology, try to get you to understand that it wasn’t the truth.
But after a gruelling session where you were still uncharacteristically quiet and didn’t really talk - but did play absolutely fabulous - you were gone immediately, basically sprinting to the changing room and gathering your stuff before you were gone, deciding to shower at home. You couldn’t bear the thought of having to change next to Alexia again, still feeling so incredibly humiliated that someone who thought so badly about you had seen you completely naked and exposed. It hurt more than you’d like to admit, no matter how much you tried to act like you had cried it all out. You couldn’t help but overthink, wondering if she had secretly thought some less than nice things about your body as well. If she had been so good at acting like she enjoyed talking to you, maybe she had only endured the sight of you without clothes on so she could have her fun. The thought alone was enough reason for you to vow to never get showered and changed in the training room ever again if Alexia was also there.
You also decided that it was best to keep all your friends and teammates at arm length and barely say anything - too afraid others might also find you as annoying as Alexia did. Every single person had reached out and asked if you were alright and wanted to talk, most trying to respect your boundaries when you said you were fine and not to worry. Except Ingrid, who had an idea of what might have happened to make your personality switch from bubbly social butterfly to this.
She wasn’t sure if you maybe had really overheard Alexia and her cruel words or if you had simply had a fight with the blonde - it was obvious that the team’s Captain was responsible for this either way judging by the guilty looks she was throwing you the whole day. Ingrid could only guess how you felt, but the way you tried to withdraw from everyone was incredibly concerning. She hoped that going to your apartment alone, without Mapi, would maybe help in you telling her what had happened.
It took a while until you opened the door, thinking it was Alexia who was bothering you once again, the blonde desperate to get you to listen to her. The only reason you ended up opening the door was because of Ingrid’s text message that she needed to talk to you, not wanting to ignore someone you held quite dear to your heart. You were trying hard to keep the mask up as the dark haired girl stepped into your apartment and slipped her shoes off.
“Sorry for barging in here like that, I just wanted to ask how you’re doing.”
You merely shrugged, not wanting to break down in tears in front of your teammate - and friend. You had cried more than enough over Alexia already.
“I’m good.”
Though when Ingrid just sighed, seeing the dark circles under your eyes and your slumped shoulders, she decided to simply offer you a hug and it didn’t even take more than a few seconds before you were full on sobbing into her shirt. Your apology as you tried to pull away and get yourself together was waved off as the taller girl wrapped her arms around you and led you to the couch, encouraging you to just cry it out. It took a while, despite how much you had cried already these past days. The hurt was still sitting deep and you hated it, hated the way you couldn’t stop thinking about Alexia and her cruel words. Even worse was how you couldn’t stop thinking about the blonde in general, about her hazel eyes and the rare gentleness she had always had with you. It was far from the harsh words you had overheard.
Since you had broken down in front of Ingrid now anyway, you willed yourself to tell her what had happened, explaining how you had overheard her and Alexia and what had happened between the two of you beforehand. The Norwegian was patient as your story was interrupted by tears and sniffles again and again, rubbing your back as she listened with a continuously darker expression. She had already been quite miffed with Alexia before that - annoyed that the blonde would rather lie and slander you like that instead of just being open and honest about her obvious feelings. Now, knowing that you had heard and how horrible you were feeling over it, it only got worse.
It took some time for you to calm down again, the ringing of the door bell interrupting the story at one point as Alexia showed up again in hopes of getting you to listen to her. Ingrid was quick to ask for the power box and shut the entire door bell off to stop the noise, on one hand understanding that Alexia didn’t mean her words and is desperate to apologise, on the other hand annoyed how the Catalan is going about it.
She reassures you that you’re well within your rights not to open the door and continues to hold you as you cry even more when you hear Alexia begging you to open and let her explain. She’s thankfully quite busy at the moment and therefore leaves after some time though Ingrid doesn’t break the hug, holding you tightly before she begins to explain. She tells you how she confronted Alexia about it and that the blonde didn’t mean her words, assuring you again and again that nobody thinks like that about you and that she always enjoys listening to you. It breaks her heart that you obviously don’t believe her, though you try to act like it’s fine. She knows how much you value the opinion from Alexia, someone with so much experience who’s so well respected within the team. It’s obvious that it broke your confidence to have her criticise you like that - you don’t trust Ingrid that she really didn’t mean it, certain that the Norwegian is just trying to cheer you up despite her constant reassurance.
Not wanting to leave you alone after that heavy conversation, Ingrid asks if you’d be willing to eat at home with her and Mapi, the Spanish girl currently cooking for them. You don’t really get far with trying to refuse, Mapi apparently already having been notified that you’re coming. At the end you’re kind of glad, finally feeling a bit of hunger again at the absolutely delicious smell that’s waving through their home, Mapi’s cat Bagheera immediately running towards you and purring loudly as you pick her up also improves your mood a lot. You’re still awfully quiet during dinner itself, no matter how much the other two try to get you involved. But you’re eating and you’re smiling a bit again when the black cat rubs herself against your legs so at least something.
Ingrid is reluctant to drop you off at home but she understands your adamant refusal at the offer of staying with her and Mapi, especially since a loving couple right in your view when you’re heartbroken is probably not the best idea. She makes a quick detour to Alexia’s home after she watched you safely enter the house again, ready to confront her on her behaviour but the blonde isn’t at home and so she goes home, pondering together with her girlfriend on how to help you gain your confidence in your playing abilities and yourself again.
In the meantime Alexia is busy buying some stuff for you, trying her best to convey her apology into some gifts that she can give you. She knows that it’s not going to magically heal what happened but maybe it will at least make you hear her out for a moment as she tries to form a plan to get you to listen.
When Alexia doesn’t show up to training the next day you’re puzzled, wondering if the blonde is on her deathbed right now since she never misses a training session. You try your best not to be distracted - where Alexia is, is none of your business anymore anyway. Though you can’t help but ask yourself if everything is fine and where the blonde girl currently is. You get your answer when you’re the first in the changing room again at the end of training, the first to leave by far as the rest was still on the pitch laughing and talking. Though you quickly came to a halt in the doorway at the scene in front of you.
There’s a truly massive bouquet of flowers laying on your spot in the cubby. The at least fifty dark red roses are beautifully arranged, with a few different flowers in between to lighten up the look. There’s also a huge bag next to it - though way more important is that Alexia is standing there, looking directly at you. She doesn’t waste any time hurrying over to you and reaching out for your hands, something you accept mostly because you’re still shocked and a bit clueless on what’s happening. The blonde isn’t even in her training kit despite looking completely fine, did she just skip training to get everything?
Your questions are answered when Alexia starts talking, not at all deterred by the unusual spot to have this conversion, simply desperate to get a chance to talk to you.
“You didn’t open your door when I tried to talk to you and you’re not even opening my messages so this is the only way I could get you to listen. Not that I blame you - I’m so incredibly sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean a single word of it and I feel horrible that I ever even said it. I love listening to you, I love hearing your thoughts on everything and you telling me stories about yourself from earlier. I also love watching you play, you’re so insanely talented - do you really think Barça would have ever made an offer for you if you weren’t so incredibly good? I just panicked and I know that’s no excuse but I promise you, I didn’t mean it. I love everything about you.” She hesitated for a moment, aware that this might not be the best time to reveal her feelings but also aware that this might be her last chance to finally be honest with you.
“The time I spent with you really made my days better, no matter how stressed I was. It made me realise that I’m falling in love with you.” Her eyes were fixed on yours as she said her next words, wanting you to know and feel that she meant every single word. “I love you. I want to have an actual relationship with you. I don’t care anymore if the rest knows, everyone can know now, I just need you. Please give me another chance, I promise I’ll do better. Nothing like that will ever happen again.”
It was completely silent for a moment as you tried to gather your thoughts. You were completely caught off guard, Alexia holding your hand in public something she would have never dared to do before, too scared that anyone might see. Even less would she ever make any declarations of love towards you, especially in the changing room while you could hear the others walking down the hallway towards it right at this moment.
Ingrid was the first to step into the room, the look on Alexia’s face along with the massive bouquet that was laying in your cubby telling her quickly what was going on as the rest of your teammates slowly walked through the door.
“What’s going on here?” You barely even notice who’s talking, simply staring at Alexia as you try to make sense of the absolute mess your mind is right now.
Ingrid steps in to save you once again.
“How about you let her take a shower first, Alexia. We just had training in that unbearable heat for a few hours.”
The blonde gives her a curt nod, realising that she might have sprung this a bit sudden on you. Though the fact that you didn’t immediately reject her gives her hope and the confidence to say her next words.
“I’ll wait at your car for you. Whatever answer you have, it’s your decision.”
She leaves and you can feel yourself already missing the feeling of her hands holding yours, having missed the blonde horribly in general these past days.
“Come on, take a moment to just shower and think about it.” Ingrid’s voice is quiet as she tries to give you a bit of privacy, gently directing you towards the showers before she shuts the others who are quietly gossiping up with one sharp look. You’re incredibly grateful that you had packed your shower stuff and some extra clothes just in case, despite not really certain that you wanted to take a shower here. You took quite a while, just letting the water run over you as you tried to sort your thoughts and answer the main question.
Were you willing to forgive Alexia?
You have determined your answer by the time you push the door open that leads to the parking lot, already able to spot Alexia who’s leaning against your car looking down at her shoes. You’re honestly struggling a bit to even carry the quite heavy bouquet of flowers along with the bag that turns out to contain quite a bit of candy and other small stuff, grateful when she spots you and hurries over to you, grabbing it to put it into your car.
It’s awkward for a moment as she turns back to you, clearly anxious for an answer as she looks down at you. You brush your wet hair behind your ear with one hand as you speak up, still feeling nervous  in her presence no matter how much you missed her.
“Uhm, I thought we could just go home and maybe talk about it some more? I’m honestly a bit surprised still and I don’t really want to discuss all of that in a parking lot.”
Alexia is already nodding before you’re even finished, incredibly grateful that you’re willing to talk to her at all. You quickly decide on meeting at her house, giving you a chance to leave if you get overwhelmed, both of you driving in your own cars there.
The tension is still quite noticeable as Alexia holds the door open for you to walk in, though it’s quickly broken by an excited Nala greeting you, the dog getting a lot of pets as you feel yourself calm down a bit in her presence. Alexia is patient, a small smile on her face as she watches the familiar scene of you being so happy to see her little Pomeranian, often spending almost ten minutes here at the door petting her before you join the blonde on the sofa.
Nala follows you two once you do get up and go to the living room, though to your disappoint the small dog makes a beeline for her bed and stays there instead of jumping on the couch.
Alexia is meanwhile hesitant as she tries to search for the right words to say, wanting to convince you to give her another chance but also trying her hardest to not cross your boundaries again by being too invasive. She’s surprised when you end up taking her hands, the slightly calloused skin of hers touching yours doing wonders to calm your nerves. You already knew the answer, you just had to get it out correctly.
“I forgive you for your words, I just don’t know how to forget them.”
Your sentence hangs in the air for a moment as Alexia is relieved at the first half and then quickly becomes anxious at the second. She opens her mouth to say something, but you’re quicker, determined to do this right.
“I’m not saying I don’t want to give you another chance, because I do. I missed you too Alexia, a lot and I do want to be with you. I just need you to give me some time to… I don’t know, digest what you said? Your words cut really deep and I know you said you didn’t mean it but,” you sigh as you don’t manage to find the right words, though thankfully Alexia seems to know exactly what you mean. She grabs your hands tighter, scooting a bit closer as she carefully checks for your reaction, relieved when you accept it.
“I understand, I totally understand. I’m so glad you’re giving me another chance, truly. I’ll do better this time, I promise.” Her face has lightened up a lot, the dark expression from earlier gone as she allows herself to smile at you, the familiar crinkling of her eyes at the action, that you’ve watched so many times causing you to mirror it. Though there’s still more you wanted to say.
“There’s something else. I want you to let me in more.”
It’s clear that Alexia is a bit lost on what you mean, the older woman frowning slightly as she tries to figure it out. You take a deep breath before you start, trying to trust your own judgment that Alexia is still a safe person and someone you can tell about your insecurities.
“What you said to Ingrid when I overheard you two was really hurtful. Not only because I’m already aware that I talk a lot and that it might be annoying but also because you never do any of that. I wasn’t mad at what you said, I was hurt. I bared my soul to you, telling you private stories, explaining my deepest fears and being vulnerable with you.”
You can feel yourself blush a little with your next words but you’re determined to try and make her understand and so you push through, focusing on what you’re saying.
“I let you tie me up and dominate me in bed, all because I trusted you, you saw me completely naked in every sense again and again. But despite you taking your clothes off in front of me, I don’t think I ever truly saw you completely exposed. Do you know what I mean? You never cried  in front of me, you never told me a lot about what you fear and what you truly want in your life. You barely talk most of the time and always only ask me questions before you refuse to answer what I ask you. I’m not dealing with that again. You said you wanted an actual relationship with me, part of that is that you let yourself be vulnerable with me. I’m not expecting you to just blurt out your deepest secrets right now, but I won’t tolerate it any longer if you constantly try to get me to open up but you refuse to do so yourself. I gave you all of me, so I want all of you as well.”
It was completely silent for a moment as Alexia digested your words. It was horrible for her to hear that you were still struggling with what she had said about you but it was even worse that you felt like you had been completely vulnerable with her and she wasn’t being that with you. You were right - she couldn’t deny that. Alexia was struggling sometimes with being vulnerable but even scarier was, that she had wanted to tell you more about her. On the anniversary of her dad’s death she had wanted nothing more than to run to you for comfort but she had decided against it. She was the older one in this relationship, she was supposed to be the stronger one. She had been pretty sure that that was what you liked so much about her, the stability and comfort she gave you. If she had realised that she was hurting you by holding back so much, she wouldn’t have done it.
Alexia took a deep breath, knowing that she would have to follow through with what she promised now, no matter how scary it might get.
“I promise I will open up more. It was never my intention to hold back so much, I don’t want you to think that I don’t trust you or that I don’t want to be vulnerable with you. I’m just not used to it and I don’t want you to think I’m weak, I’m the older one here, I should be the stronger one.”
You could only frown at her words, already shaking your head before she was even done talking.
“No. And this won’t work if you see yourself as my guardian instead of my girlfriend. I might be younger but we’re still equal. I can take carrying your burdens as well, that’s what I’m there for. You’re not my therapist Alexia, you’re not just here to listen to me. And I want to hear what you struggle with so I can help.”
Alexia took a second, clearly pondering your words as she tried to wrap her head around having to be more open with you and admit what she was feeling. Something she was more than willing to do if it meant giving you a healthy and equal relationship.
“Okay. I promise I’ll do better. I’d do anything to make this work, I missed you so much amor.”
It was the first time she had used the pet name again, relieved when a shy smile crossed your face at it. It gave her enough confidence to pull you into a hug, taking a deep breath of your familiar scent as she buried her face in your shoulder. The hug lasted a while, both of you trying to calm your still racing hearts down and also just enjoying the aspect of an actual relationship starting now.
You were caught off guard when Alexia pulled away with tears in her eyes after a minute, grabbing your face with her hands as she reassured herself that you were there and that you two would be okay.
“You’re really giving me another chance?”
You reached out to her as well, your hands brushing her hair back behind her shoulders as you nodded, relieved to see that she was already being more open with her emotions, letting you see the tears that were about to overflow.
“Yes, I’m giving you another chance.”

Part 2 here!

----------
“What are these pictures?” you asked, turning to look at Ona. Her eyes were wide, lips parted, and you pushed down the sudden urge to kiss her. “Ona? What’s going on?”
Alexia started to back away. “I’m going to, um, leave-”
“No, stay, please?” you asked, and she hesitated before nodding once. You looked back at Ona. “What’s going on?”
“I’m sorry, I, I didn’t know how to tell you- I-”
“Were we dating? Are we dating?”
“I- Yes, we’re dating,” she told you, her voice small. “We’ve been together for nearly 7 months.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” you asked. Ona had expected you to be angry when you found out she’d lied to you, to shout, yell. She wasn’t expecting your voice to be quiet and cold. Tears were brimming in her eyes, threatening to fall.
“I just- I was so scared, so, so scared, I thought you were going to die,” she explained, voice cracking on the last word. “And when you woke up, I- I didn’t want to overwhelm you, I wanted you to remember, I didn’t want to tell you that- that it was my fault.”
“What do you mean, your fault? How was it your fault?”
“I, we, we were having an argument,” she said, and the tears began streaming down her face. “We were having an argument, it was my fault, I said something, and you left. I hurt you and you left, and the next thing I knew I was being called to the hospital because you’d been in an accident.”
Your body felt cold. “What did you say?”
“I’m sorry, it was stupid and unkind and I wasn’t thinking, I was tired and-”
“What did you say, Ona?”
“I- I said you were too much. That I just wanted some peace and quiet after training and you were being too much.”
The words felt like a punch to your gut, though you weren’t sure why. You had the distinct sensation that you’d been told that before, throughout your whole life, you’d been too much for other people. That you’d learnt to make yourself smaller, not to take up too much space, to make sure you weren’t being too much.
“So you’ve been lying to me?” you asked, trying to ignore the iron fist around your heart. You knew the accident wasn’t Ona’s fault. What she said was awful, and really fucking hurt to hear, but still - the car hitting you wasn’t her fault. But what you couldn’t get past was the lying.
“No, I-”
“You lied to me, about who you are, about who we are, about who I am. You told me we were friends, best friends. Best friends wouldn’t lie to each other,” you frowned.
“No, I just-” Ona protested.
“I want to be alone. Can you go, please?” you asked quietly, not looking at the brunette. You heard a sob, and then her footsteps as she left, the door closing softly behind her.
Alexia felt torn. She cared about both of you so much, and it broke her heart to see Ona in so much pain, but you had a right to be upset.
“Would you like me to go as well?” she asked gently.
You thought about it, then shook your head. “No, can you stay, please? Maybe we can, uh, go through the other photos and you can tell me about them? See if that helps me remember anything.”
“Of course, chiqui,” she said, and brought the corkboard down off the wall. You collapsed onto the sofa, grateful to be sat down, and tried to push the thoughts about what had just happened out of your mind.
“So, this one is from your first game at Barcelona,” she pointed to a photo of you and your teammates in the changing room after the game. You’re sweaty and you look tired, but you’re smiling brightly.
“I remember that, I think,” you said. Not the game itself, but the feeling, the rush you got, the crowd cheering when you stepped on the pitch.
“This is from one of our walks before a game. I’m not sure which one, but it looks sunny,” she said, squinting at a photo of you, Salma and Ona. You looked at the photo, the way Ona’s arm was around your shoulder.
“Um, this is from the Champion’s League final last year,” she quickly moved on.
“We won!” you blurted out. “Right? I remember! I don’t remember the game, but I remember celebrating.”
“Si!” Alexia grinned. “You were so proud. You even scored a goal, do you remember?”
“Really?” you asked, eyes wide. “I don’t remember that.”
As she showed you more pictures, you tried to concentrate on her words, but kept finding yourself staring at the pictures of you and Ona.
“Don’t think too badly of her, bebé,” Alexia said softly. “It was wrong of her to lie, but she was trying to do the right thing. She was scared. We all were, when we heard what had happened. We- we didn’t know if you were going to wake up. She loves you.”
Deep down, you knew that you loved her too. It was an unmistakable feeling.
“I just feel so betrayed,” you explained, looking at a picture of you and Ona. Someone else must have taken it - it showed the two of you sat on a bench somewhere, Ona leaning against your shoulder, you pressing a kiss to her head. “I don’t even know who I am anymore, really. I’ve been relying on other people to tell me who I am, who they are. To tell me the truth. She lied about us, but she lied about me as well. I know she was scared, but- but how does she think I feel? I woke up with no memories of anything about my life, about any of it. I feel so stupid.”
You sat quietly for a minute, Alexia unsure of how to respond. The silence was broken by your stomach rumbling, providing a welcome distraction.
“Oh, I guess there’s no food, right?” you asked, realising just how hungry you were.
“Actually,” Alexia said, getting up and opening the fridge. “Ona got all of your favourites. She cooked, too, so you don’t have to do anything, just heat it up.”
“She did?”
“Si.”
“That’s… that’s very kind of her,” you said. The iron fist around your heart loosened slightly.
“She loves you, bebé,” Alexia said, her smile not quite meeting her eyes. “She really does.”
Heating up one of the meals Ona had prepared for you, Alexia let you get settled back into your apartment. It still didn’t really feel quite like home, but you were glad to be out of the hospital anyway. As the two of you ate, she told you more stories about your time at Barcelona, and you felt glad that at least she was telling you the truth.
“So, what about us?” you asked, scraping up the last bite on your plate.
“What do you mean?” Alexia asked, raising an eyebrow. Her heart sped up slightly as she thought about her feelings, feelings she’d long kept hidden.
“Well, what’s the story of our friendship? Is there anything I should know about there? Any drama that happened, any secrets? Please, no more secrets,” you said with a wry smile.
Alexia took a deep breath.

Before He Cheats
AO3
“Munson Home for the Recently Deceased, you stab ‘em we slab ‘em. How may I direct your call?”
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds before a light chuckle crackled through the speaker.
“Is that really how you answer the phone?”
Eddie smiled to himself. “Got you to laugh didn’t it?”
“Suppose.”
“Plus, no one calls the landline anymore unless they’re trying to sell something. You trying to sell me something?”
“No. No, I uh… I’m looking for an Eddie Munson?”
“Only an Eddie Munson? Only one? What a terrible fate. Well you’re in luck, my good sir. This is he. What can I do you for?”
The voice on the end of the line gave a light laugh once again but went silent almost immediately after.
Eddie stared at the wall in his apartment, waiting for something to happen. In the quiet he could hear the guy letting out little nervous breaths before one big inhale.
“I um. I’m sorry to have to tell you like this, I’d prefer to do it face to face but I don’t know where you live and you probably wouldn’t even want me at your house afterwards and I did find you on social media but it’s not something I wanted to do in DM’s, you deserve better than that-”
“Okay, hold on, slow down.” Eddie tried to ignore the panic starting to kick around in his heart. “Is someone dead? Is someone injured?”
“No! No, Jesus, I’m sorry. I told Robin that I’d be terrible at this but I couldn’t just let it go on without saying anything-”
“You haven’t really said anything. You’re just rambling.”
“Right. Sorry. Again, blame Robin. I’m around her too much. But… okay. Do you know Rick Lipton?”
Eddie felt the panic leave him, replaced only by irritation as he sighed through his nose. “What did he do now?”
“He… um. I’m sorry to ask this but are you his partner? Like, romantic partner?”
Eddie scowled. “And if I am?”
There was movement against the line, almost as if the other guy was nodding.
“Shit.” He muttered before picking back up in volume again. “Listen, I didn’t know. He told me he was single and I only found out because Robin lives in the same building as you and she saw him with you and asked the neighbours and they said you’d been a thing for like two years and you have to believe me if I’d known I wouldn’t have touched him, I don’t fuck around with cheaters-”
“How long?”
Eddie had expected to feel betrayal or sadness, devastation or heartbreak and they were there.
They were just lost under a tidal wave of anger and indignation. He was even surprised at himself that he didn’t feel more caught off guard.
Rick had never cheated before (that Eddie was aware of) but he had always had a wandering eye and a few off-colour jokes about 'going to find someone more his speed’.
They’d never really felt all that funny.
Maybe it was because their relationship had felt dead for the last few months.
They barely talked, they just existed around each other. The sex had all but dried up as well and whenever they did have it, it was completely impersonal. Get in, get out, move back to separate parts of the apartment if either of them even bothered to stay over.
More often than not one of them would make a quick exit back to their home.
Eddie had been thinking a breakup was on the horizon for a while.
But that was no excuse to cheat.
At least have the fucking decency to end the relationship first before going out and chasing tail.
“Um, like four or five weeks." The guy on the phone muttered, clearly ashamed. "I’m so sorry Eddie, I swear to god if I knew I would never… I have- I have proof if you need it.”
“If it’s a sex tape I don’t think I want to see it.” Eddie was trying really hard to maintain his calm and not snap through the phone.
If what the guy was saying was true, then he was an innocent party in this.
Didn’t make it hurt any fucking less though.
Didn’t make him any less pissed.
“If- no it’s not a sex tape.” The voice sounded scandalised. “Fucking hell, do people actually do that?”
“Yes.”
There was a pause, as though the guy was waiting for Eddie to continue but Eddie just let it hang in the air. He wasn’t ashamed.
But he was definitely going to have to purge those files now.
“Okay well… It's just a photo. I posted it to my insta a week ago but he was really weird about it being up, which in hindsight makes a lot of sense, so I took it down.” He said, quiet and sad. “I can send it to you if you want.”
Eddie pursed his lips.
“Please hold.”
He unceremoniously dropped the phone with a clatter, leaving it dangling from the cord, bouncing against the wall and probably blowing the guy’s ear out.
Maybe in the morning Eddie would feel a little bad about that, but for now it just felt very satisfying.
He rifled around in his bedsheets for his phone before making his way back to the landline.
“Still there?”
“Yes. Ow, by the way.”
Eddie just shrugged, well aware the guy couldn’t see him but whatever. He wasn’t in the mood.
“Send it on.”
Only a moment later his phone pinged with a notification and Eddie opened the photo.
Well.
Shit.
There was Rick, in amongst a crowd at some nightclub, plastered to the side of some pretty boy who looked like he had a regular workout routine.
Ugh.
Eddie couldn’t handle gym bunnies, the amount they could bench or whatever was all they ever talked about. But this must be the guy on the other end of the phone.
@King.Steve.Of.House.Hair
Rick had King Steve’s earlobe in between his teeth and from the angle of the selfie Eddie could see his hands were wandering.
It looked like some kind of Halloween night, if the teeny tiny little sailor outfit was anything to go by.
God damn.
But even so, Eddie still wanted to be sure that what he was seeing was… well. What he was seeing.
“Steve, is it?”
“Oh, uh, yeah. Sorry, I didn’t realise I hadn’t given you my name yet.” Steve let out a nervous laugh, like he was expecting Eddie to jump through the phone and strangle him.
Eddie was fit to strangle someone but Steve wasn’t in his crosshairs.
“Don’t worry about it. Tell me, what does Rick have tattooed on his ass?”
“Uh…” Steve paused. “He doesn’t have a tattoo on his ass? Not that I’ve seen anyway. But I can tell you he does have his taint pierced. For some fucking reason.”
Eddie gave a quiet laugh at that, despite the monumentally fucked up situation and the final cracking piece of his heart breaking away. Rick had that piercing by the time Eddie had met him. He insisted he’d gotten it because it was sexy. Eddie was pretty sure he’d just lost a bet.
Eddie was no stranger to intimate piercings himself. He had his frenum done a while back.
That one he’d definitely done because it felt sexy.
He looked back down at his phone, idly flipping through Steve’s profile and all of his other photos.
He probably shouldn’t be thinking about how hot Steve was, how it was juxtaposed with a soft cuteness that almost felt like it didn’t belong to someone with such broad shoulders and defined arms.
He hated himself for thinking about Steve’s attractiveness.
It felt wrong.
Even though he was pretty much single now.
Even if Rick didn’t know it yet.
But fuck him.
He’d find out.
One way or the other.
And Eddie was nothing if not a drama queen.
But he wouldn’t do anything tonight.
No tonight he would just… hurt.
And smoke.
A lot.
“Eddie?” Steve’s voice came through to him. “You okay?”
Eddie swallowed, finding it a little more difficult than he expected it to be and realised he’d just been staring down at his phone in silence.
The screen had gone black.
“Yeah.” He answered, his voice thick. “I’m fine.”
Steve hummed. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
Eddie laughed. It was wet and sniffly and vulnerable and horrible. “What are you gonna do from over the phone far away… wherever you are?”
“I dunno. I could just… talk to you I guess? Help you plot Rick's murder?”
Eddie laughed again, a little brighter this time. "Yeah, that could be good. But if I'm plotting murder I want to be a little more comfortable." He unlocked his phone and hit the follow button on Steve’s account. “This conversation requires lounging, not standing by the landline.”
“Oh-”
“How do you feel about a video call?”
A notification popped up on his phone, letting him know Steve had followed him back.
“A video call is fine.”
“Great.” Eddie paused. He wasn’t even sure how to end this call with the guy his boyfriend of two years had been cheating on him with and who he’d just asked if he wanted to video call so Eddie could smoke his feelings away.
He just didn’t want to feel alone right now.
He could have called Chrissy or one of the boys to come hang out with him but that would require explaining everything over again and he really didn’t want to do that right now.
Before he could think much more on it Eddie said a quick “Okay bye,” and hung up.
Steve knew the story and Steve had been wronged too and maybe they could just be mad and sad together.
He unlocked his phone again as he walked back into his bedroom and hit the video call button, not even bothering to turn his light on, leaving himself and his room shrouded in darkness. He propped his phone up on his desk, angled towards the window where he sat on the sil and started to roll, using the streetlights streaming in the window to see.
Steve picked up only a moment later and Eddie got his first good look at the guy live in action and not through a photo online.
He was sitting at what looked like a kitchen table fully lit by the overhead lights, a pair of wire framed glasses perched on his nose and his hair messy and dishevelled, like he’d been stressfully running his hands through it, which he probably had been.
Eddie didn’t know how stressed he would be if he had to make a call to someone to tell them their long term partner had been cheating.
He was leaning forward, elbows on the table in a cosy yellow sweater with a slight worry between his eyebrows.
He looked so soft.
Nothing at all like the nautical sea queen look he’d been giving in those photos. He looked comfortable and gentle and a little worried.
“Eddie?”
“Mm-hm?” He hummed, bringing the joint to his mouth and lighting it up before pushing open the window a little more and exhaling out into the dark rainfall outside.
“You okay?”
He shrugged. “I will be.”
“I’m not asking about whether you will be, I‘m asking about now.”
Eddie looked over and watched Steve as Steve watched him through the screen.
“Alright, then no. I’m not okay.” He took another drag. “I’m fucking pissed. I’m sad, I’m upset, I’m hurt, I’m angry, I’m disappointed and I don’t know if all of that is directed more at him for doing this to me or me for not expecting it.”
“How were you supposed to expect it?” Steve shook his head in disbelief. “No one should have to expect to be cheated on.”
“Dunno.” Eddie shrugged, looking back out the window. “Relationship was dying anyway.”
“Okay, and? That doesn’t make cheating okay.”
“Suppose not.”
“I’m sorry, for what it’s worth. For my part in it.”
Eddie glanced back over, taking in the downward tilt of Steve’s mouth and his big sad eyes.
“S’not your fault. You were wronged too.”
“I guess, but…” Steve bit his lip and looked up from the screen, casting his eyes around his kitchen like something was going to pop out and answer whatever question was running through his head.
Eddie waited. The guy had been very gracious so far and he seemed to genuinely feel bad for all the mess he’d been wrapped up in.
“I…” Steve continued. “I know how this thing usually goes. You find out you’ve been cheated on and you still love your partner so you tend to focus all your anger towards the person they cheated with rather than the person who actually wronged you.” He looked down, fiddling with some kind of flash card on the table in front of him.
“Sounds like you’re speaking from experience.” Eddie stubbed his joint out, happy enough with his current buzz. He was sufficiently mellowed, he hadn’t cried yet though that would probably come once he was in bed, but his anger had simmered down to a level where he didn’t feel like putting his fist through a wall but still angry enough to plot.
“I am, I guess.”
Eddie nodded. “This happened to you before?”
That was probably rude. His filter malfunctioned at the best of times but when he smoked it was all but gone.
“Yeah.” Steve stared down at the cards in his hands. “My mom had to put up with my dad’s infidelity a lot. And my ex-girlfriend cheated on me a while back.” Steve paused before taking a deep breath. “Rick was actually my first attempt to get back into the dating world so…”
“So we can both be sad and angry together.”
“Yeah.” Steve smiled and Eddie stood up, plucking his phone from his desk and settling it on his bedside table, switching his lamp on and throwing himself face down on his bed, probably barely visible to Steve.
“We can be sad and angry together.”
Eddie glanced up. Now that he was closer to his phone, he could better see exactly what Steve was fiddling with, he could read some of the text on the card.
“Stevie.” Eddie sat up, moving closer to the phone and unable to stop the smirk running over his face. Steve’s eyes snapped up towards him. “Did you write out flash cards for when you called me?”
Steve’s eyes widened before he unceremoniously swept all the cards off the table in front of him, his cheeks turning a terrific shade of red and he leaned his face on his hand, trying to act as nonchalant as possible.
“No.”
It was adorable. Incredibly dorky and adorable.
Eddie laughed, full on braying belly laughs, collapsing backwards onto his bed. When he peeked back up to look at his phone through his giggles, Steve’s face was somehow even redder.
“Oh my god.” Eddie breathed. “That’s darling.”
“Shut up.”
“No, no. It’s really very sweet.”
“Ugh. Whatever.” Steve rolled his eyes but was still smiling, still had a blush lighting up his cheeks.
Eddie settled himself back against his headboard. “Actually, listen, let me ask you something.”
“Okay?”
“Does Rick know? Does he know that you know? Or that you told me?”
“No.” Steve answered, finally relaxing his fake nonchalance into real relaxation, folding his hands on the table and propping his chin up on them. “I figured if anyone had the right to rip his balls off it would be you.”
Eddie nodded.
That he could understand.
“I get that, but there’ll be no ball ripping from where I stand. No, I want to hit him where it hurts.”
“Woulda hurt me plenty.”
“Oh, I’m sure. But the only thing Rick loves more than his own balls is his car.”
Steve nodded. “Yeah, he’s like, obsessed with that thing. It’s weird. It’s not even that nice of a car.”
“I’d love to say he has bad taste but considering he picked the both of us, I’m pretty sure his tastes are actually immaculate.”
“Just his decisions are bad.”
“Exactly.”
“Well.” Steve sighed. “I’d love to help any way I can. I hate that I was involved in this, in what he did to you.”
“To us, Stevie. To us.”
“Right, so what’s the plan then?”
“When are you due to see him next?”
Tumblr media
Eddie pulled his van into the parking lot of the bar. It was halfway across town and a place that he never frequented if he could help it. Rick liked it though, always had. Eddie just liked other places around town more.
But it could be cute, he supposed. A small little country and sports type place that had a rainbow flag behind the bar and a small number of regulars who, according to Steve, wouldn’t do anything unless you got between them and their drink.
He knew that Steve was inside with Rick, playing up the flirty angle and acting tipsier than he actually was to put him at ease.
Steve had mentioned one of his signature moves involved pool, bending over the table and wiggling a little bit to keep the attention on him. Pulling out a little pout whenever he missed a shot or asking for help to line up his cue.
Eddie would be more upset by the fact that he was missing the sight of it if he didn't know he'd have the opportunity to see it himself at some point in the future.
They had talked for so long that first night, long enough that the sun was starting to come up by the time they'd both dragged themselves away from their phones to sleep.
They’d talked about their families, their friends, what they were doing in life right now as opposed to what they had hoped they would be doing when they were teenagers. They talked about their school selves and their dating lives and as the conversation wore on Eddie found himself thinking again and again about how long it had been since it had felt so easy to talk to someone like that.
It had been a very long time since Rick had put any effort into getting to know him as he grew through their two years together, like he expected Eddie to stay the same person as he was at the start of the relationship.
After that first night where they’d figured out their master plan, he and Steve had just… kept talking. Throughout the rest of the week up until tonight, they were in almost constant contact, only really taking a break to sleep and work.
Eddie felt connected to Steve and in some roundabout way he was thankful to Rick for bringing him into his life.
He’d even met Robin in passing one day, living two floors below him, holding the door open for him as he tried to wrestle with grocery bags.
She was so weird. He kind of loved her the second she opened her mouth. Honest, but with the sharpest tongue he’d ever met on a person.
She had knocked on his apartment door later that evening to tell him Steve was calling over to visit and asking if he wanted to come around to meet him.
Steve had apparently delegated the asking to her because he was too nervous to do it himself.
Again, adorable.
Steve was somehow even sweeter and even saltier in person than he was over the phone and Eddie tried hard, he tried really hard not to look too much or let his fucking horomones run away with him but Jesus. H. Christ it was difficult.
The sweetness of his soft sweaters and polos, his gentle smiles and understanding words matched with his salty mean girl attitude that would slip out every so often and the bitchiest of eye rolls that made Eddie’s heart jump.
Eddie was also trying to feel bad about what was happening but honestly, he was losing reasons to care that much.
He hadn’t texted or called Rick once in the last week and Rick himself had never reached out which all at once made Eddie realise he was the primary communicator in the relationship and it hadn’t been reciprocated in a long, long time.
Adding onto that was the knowledge that Rick was still fucking cheating on him and was in regular contact with Steve left Eddie only half heartedly feeling bad.
He and Steve would go over the screenshots of the conversation together every night and every night Eddie found it harder and harder to hang up the phone.
He was pretty sure Steve was feeling the same way.
They kept just catching each other staring. Or smiling or, pulling back from touching too much and he was almost sure that as soon as Rick was out of the picture for the both of them, something was going to blossom.
Even now, with Steve inside, flirting up a storm with Eddie’s ex-boyfriend who didn’t know he was an ex yet, they would be ending the night together.
Robin was waiting back at her apartment with an alibi ready if Eddie needed it though he suspected he wouldn’t.
Neither he nor Rick had a great track record with the police and it would be more trouble than it was worth to get them involved.
Speaking of, Eddie spotted Rick’s car, some souped up four wheel drive monstrosity of small dick syndrome sitting in the shadows and away from the cameras of the bar where Steve had convinced him to park with a suggestion of something happening in those shadows later on.
He hopped out of his van and threw open the back doors, grabbing his bag of goodies before sidling around Rick’s car to wait.
When the chords of some Shania Twain number started to leak through the walls, the signal he’d been waiting for, the sound loud enough to drown out what Eddie would be doing, he dropped his bag to the floor.
Curling his keys into his fingers and with almost a skip in his step Eddie began to carve a stripe through the immaculate and expensive paint work. Working his way around to the drivers side, he lifted the key up before bringing it back down.
With a little bit of sickening glee, he hacked the word CHEATER into the side of the car, the side that would be immediately visible from the bar door and the side Rick would have to see every time he wanted to get in and get out of the driver's seat.
At least until he paid a bomb to get it fixed.
Eddie had connections in this town. Working as a mechanic here for years would do wonderful things to extend this pain.
Rick knew fuck all about cars.
Tucking his keys back into his pocket, he sidled back around to his duffel bag, unzipping it and pulling out his Stanley blade.
Unsheathing it, he gripped it tight in his hand and punched it down into the nearest tyre, listening with satisfaction as the thing slowly deflated before moving onto the other three.
A second Shania song had started up.
He could hear Steve crooning out from inside, getting louder and Eddie knew he was running out of time.
He pulled Steve’s baseball bat from the duffle and gave it a little twirl, the same one he’d seen Steve do when he’d first handed it off and he had tried so hard not to be attracted to it.
He’d failed miserably.
Maybe Eddie could deal with a gym bunny if that gym bunny was Steve.
With an almighty swing, he brought the bat down, shattering one of the headlights with an almighty crash that wasn’t quite drowned out by the karaoke inside.
Rearing back Eddie swung again, smashing the other headlight and while the music didn’t cut off, he could clearly hear Steve inside calling out for Rick to “Wait!”
Okay, only a few seconds left.
Pulling the bat back and letting the anger and betrayal and indignation flow through him, he brought the bat down hard into the windshield where it embedded itself, the spider cracks of the tempered glass making the thing practically opaque.
The bat was fucking stuck.
Eddie knew that if he was able to pull hard enough he would be able to release the whole windshield from the car but he didn’t even have the strength in him to budge the bat.
“What the fuck?!”
Eddie slowly released his hands from the bat and turned, looking at Rick standing in the doorway of the bar, his mouth hanging wide open in shock, unable to believe what he was seeing. Steve was standing just behind him, with one hand over Rick’s chest.
To anyone else it would look like a comforting gesture, maybe. A show of support.
But Eddie could tell the hand was there to hold Rick back if he decided to lunge.
Both Steve and Rick dragged their gaze over the flat tyres, the word carved into the side, the bat stuck in the windshield.
“Hey sweetheart.” Eddie called across the distance, feeling comfortable enough to turn his back to pick up his bag, trusting Steve to at least shout if Rick was about to tackle him.
“Eddie,” Rick breathed, still open-mouthed somehow. “What in the god damned hell has gotten into you?!”
“I wasn’t talking to you.” He slung the bag over his shoulder and held his hand out.
Steve patted Rick twice on the chest and stepped out from behind him.
Rick watched him walk away looking even more bewildered than before.
With one hand Steve took Eddie’s and with the other he grabbed the bat, wiggling it a few times before pulling it free.
They broke apart as they reached Eddie’s van, Steve climbing into the passenger seat and Eddie throwing his bag in the back before starting up the van from his position in the driver's seat.
He leaned over Steve to shout out of the window, “Have a nice life, asshole!”
As the van tore out of the lot, Steve stretched both hands out of the window, two middle fingers extended until Rick, still frozen on the spot, was out of sight.
When he pulled himself back inside, Eddie saw him glance his way, a huge grin on his face.
Eddie had a smile to match, whooping into the night as they sped down the road.

Me (Alessia Russo x Williamson!Reader)
Tumblr media
Part 9 of the Lover series —> Start with Part 1
“Where do we go from here?” Alessia asked you.
You were both laying in bed, cuddled up like usual. Sure, you’d woken up having kissed her before. But this wasn’t a drunk kiss, there was so much more to this one.
“I’m not sure, you’re a bad kisser” you teased as she flicked your cheek and shot her head up off your chest.
“I am not” she gasped with a slight uptick of her lips.
She was beginning to realise more just how alike to Leah you actually were. She loved how you could be such a windup.
“Oh yeah?” You smirked. “Want to prove it?”
She leaned up and pressed her lips to yours, pulling away after a few seconds, waiting for you to say something.
“Meh” you teased again as she sighed and flopped down beside you.
“Are you going to answer the question?” She asked as you turned to look at her with a smile.
“I guess we’re dating?” You shrugged
“Not if that’s how you’re going to ask me” she giggled at you as you rolled your eyes.
“Will you be my girlfriend then, Less?” You breathed out.
“Yes” she blurted out, straddling you and kissing you again.
-
You both decided to take it slowly telling people you had made it official. Alessia hadn’t publicly spoken out about her sexuality and you thought it would be better for things to be further into the relationship before you let the public know about the two of you.
When you’d first started dating Mel, you weren’t that well known, so it was fine. But as time progressed, Mel was getting literal invitations to fights with different girls and in extreme cases, death threats.
You were spending a lot more time together, obviously. But as luck would have it, Leah and Luke were too distracted by their own girlfriends to even realise how much closer you had both become.
It would mostly be you at her house or the opposite way around. It was easier that way, for privacy for you both.
-
You were invited to a Spotify event next month to promote the new album that was coming out later in the year.
You flew the band over to London and had spent the last few days in a hotel with them, catching up properly and rehearsing the new songs.
“This album is amazing, holy shit” Holly, your guitarist, said. She’d been with you right the way through your career.
“Honestly, if you don’t win a Grammy this year you should just retire” Anna laughed, watching over the rehearsal.
You got a free few minutes while the guys were tuning up their instruments and you decided to call Alessia.
You’d been dating now for about a month and a half, but had told absolutely nobody. You liked the calmness of it all. It was way easier not having to feel like you were on constant display, like you were with Mel.
Alessia’s phone was on the kitchen counter, where Leah was standing trying to fix a lightbulb that was positioned under the cabinet. The light helped Alessia see better when she was cooking, and she was refusing to cook until it was fixed.
“Less your phone” Leah shouted as she glanced at the picture. She didn’t take much notice at first but she done a double take when she saw your name, and then realised it was you in the photo.
Tumblr media
Alessia ran down the stairs, grabbing her phone with a smile as she answered. Leah was just staring at her with her jaw on the ground.
“Hey baby” she whispered once she was out of earshot of Leah.
“Hi beautiful, you okay?” You asked as she nodded into the phone.
“Still working?” She frowned.
“Almost done, we’re just doing one more run through of a song and then calling it quits for the night” you smiled.
“How long do you have?” Alessia asked.
“Y/n” Anna shouted.
“-10 seconds” you laughed as she sighed. You’d been so caught up rehearsing that you’d barely spoken to each other in the last few days.
“I miss you” she moped.
“I miss you more Less” you breathed out. “But listen, I have this event that I’m performing at next month. Are you okay to come? You could bring a friend if you didn’t want to make it look like, you know” you shrugged.
“I’m happy to sit there without anybody” she smiled.
“Well, my parents will be there” you laughed as she froze. “As well as Luke and possibly Steph” you said as she took a deep breath. “Can you ask Leah to invite Lia?” You said as she nodded.
“Okay, I have to go. I’ll call you later baby” you smiled as she walked back into the kitchen.
“Okay, okay, I’ll talk to you later” she giggled, walking back into the kitchen. “Yeah, I’ll tell her” she rolled her eyes as you reminded her about asking Leah, before hanging up
She now looked at Leah who was still stood in a state of shock.
“Leah?” Alessia frowned as she waved her hand in front of her face. “Hello?” Alessia again.
“You and my sister?” She asked as Alessia’s eyes went wide.
“What?”
“The picture” Leah said as she pointed to the phone, still in Alessia’s hand.
Alessia didn’t reply which made Leah spiral into so many different possibilities.
“Are you two” she tried as she trailed off.
“It’s new” Alessia finally said. “We’ve been dating for just over a month”
Leah always thought if her friend or team mate ever said that they were dating you or Jacob, that she would be first in line to punch them. But instead, all she could do was smile and pull Alessia into a huge hug.
“Well, I’m glad you both figured it out” she whispered to her blonde house mate.
“Me too” Alessia laughed.
“Is that what you had to tell me?” Leah asked as Alessia was reminded of the conversation you had just had with her on the phone.
“Oh no” Alessia shook her head. “She’s doing an event thing next month to perform the songs from the new album and she wants you and Lia to come” Alessia smiled.
You’d hung up the phone to Alessia and got back to practice, finishing later on in the day and heading back to the hotel room you were sharing with Luke.
Life has become so much easier now that he was around all the time for work.
“Leah and Lia are coming, just invite Steph” you laughed at your friend who was starting to become serious with his now girlfriend.
“Did she go to your last concert?” He asked as you thought back to that night.
“Yeah, I’m almost 100% sure that we spoke” you assured him.
“Okay” he took a deep breath before putting the phone to his ear. “Just needed to make sure she doesn’t find your music as insufferable as I do” he smirked as you stuck your finger up at him.
You walked into the kitchen area of the hotel room to give him some privacy, and you took out your phone that you hadn’t checked since your call with Alessia.

“Okay she’s coming” Luke said as he left the bedroom with a big grin on his face, but he was quick to notice the smile on your face as you glared at your phone. “What you smiling at?” He teased as you looked up.
“Nothing” you smirked.
“Come on, I know something’s got you smiling” he said peering at your phone. “Or should I say someone?” He chuckled looking at the messages, but you’d moved it away quick enough he didn’t see the name.
“Is it Lessi?” He smirked at you, and you thought it would be funny to annoy him.
“Nah, I gave up on that one” you shrugged. “It’s your sister” you laughed as the smirk wiped off his face.
“It better not be my sister” he frowned, trying to grab your phone as you cried out in laughter.
“I’m joking” you pushed him off you and shook your head at him, still grinning. “I’ve been seeing Less for just over a month, we just wanted to see how it went before we told anybody”
He didn’t react at first, verbally anyway. He just picked you up and spun you around before he began shouting.
“I’m so fucking happy for both of you” he practically squealed as you tried to loosen out of his hold. “This is so unlike us” he laughed as he let you down, finally.
“What?” You chuckled.
“Both living in the same city, both with girlfriends” he grinned.
“And you like my girlfriend, that’s new” you teased.
“Mel was horrible, you can surely see that now?” He laughed as you rolled your eyes and shrugged.
“This is great though, we can double date” he smiled as you looked at him, expressionless. “What?” He frowned.
“I haven’t actually taken her on a date” you chuckled.
“How do you get girls to go out you” he face palmed and shook his head at you.
-
It was looming closer to your performance, and you realised that you needed to tell your parents you and Alessia were together. She also came to the realisation that her parents and brothers should probably know too.
You weren’t really one to make a big deal out of anything, so you told them about Alessia in the most subtle way possible.
“Family dinner on Thursday” your mum told you when you’d stopped over at the house.
“Now mum, when you say family dinner” you moaned. She had a bad habit of inviting around 100 people over at any chance she got.
“No love, it’ll be your sister, Lia, your dad you and I” she smiled. “Oh do you want to bring Luke and that lovely girl, Steph?” She smiled.
“Would it be alright if Luke sat this one out?” You asked, eyes planted to the ground.
“Oh are you two fighting?” She frowned as you looked at her like she’d asked a stupid question. You and Luke had never, ever fought.
“No it’s not that” you shook your head. “I actually wanted to bring someone different” you smiled.
“Are you seeing someone?” She gasped as your dad slid into the kitchen out of absolutely nowhere.
“Please don’t say it’s the the wicked witch of” he began.
“Dad” you groaned. “No, uh” you mumbled.
“Who is it?” Your mum squeezed your hands.
“It’s Alessia”
“Russo?” Your dad asked
“Leah’s house mate?” Your mum looked shocked.
“No, the other Alessia all three us know” you laughed as they looked at you as if you were serious. “Jesus Christ, obviously Alessia Russo, Leah’s House Mate, to use her full name” you sighed.
“That is great news” your dad slapped your shoulder as you winced.
“Oh love” your mum almost started crying as she wrapped you into a big hug. “She is such a lovely girl”.
“You’re going out with Leah?” Alessia’s mum asked as she groaned.
“No mum for the millionth time” Alessia rolled her eyes.
“Explain it again” her dad grumbled as Alessia stood in front of them, both now sitting looking at her in full concentration.
“I am dating Leah’s sister, y/n” Alessia drilled into them.
“In your dreams” Luca, Alessia’s brother, laughed from the opposite couch.
“Luca” his dad warned.
“Dad seriously, y/n is a huge celebrity and Alessia thinks she could pull her” he laughed again.
“She’s my girlfriend” Alessia snapped.
“Invite her around then” Luca smirked.
“What, now?” Alessia laughed.
“Yeah, now” he challenged.
Alessia, without another word took out her phone.
Her mum quickly rushed around the house as she began cleaning up now that it sunk in a celebrity was coming to her house.

You walked up to the door as you gently knocked.
A very big man opened the door, Alessia’s brother Giorgio, who was upstairs when this whole conversation kicked off.
“Hello” he smiled, “Can I help you?” He asked. You liked when people didn’t recognise you. It meant you might be able to have a normal, human conversation for a change.
“I’m looking for Alessia” you smiled back at him.
“Lessi” he shouted, now hearing the argument in the living room between his two siblings. “Come in” he gestured you in.
“I’m y/n by the way” you stuck your hand out and he shook it.
“Giorgio” he smiled, shaking your hand.
Luca came stumbling out of the living room as Alessia tumbled out behind him.
“You two are so embarrassing” he rolled his eyes as we went into his parents in the kitchen.
“Hi” you smiled at your girlfriend.
“Can you just tell him we’re dating?” Alessia frowned.
“Me and you?” You asked as she gave you such a glare you knew it was a serious request. “In your dreams” you smirked.
“I like you” Luca smiled as he followed Giorgio into the kitchen.
“Y/n” Alessia groaned as you laughed and placed a kiss on her lips.
“You ready?” You asked.
“Come say hi to my mum and dad” she practically pulled you by the hand and into the kitchen.
You didn’t even get time to be anxious about meeting your girlfriend’s parents for the first time properly.
“Mum, dad, this is y/n” Alessia smiled.
“Lovely to meet you both” you went to shake their hands but they both pulled you into a hug.
“Would you like a cup of tea, love? Please sit down” her mum gestured you towards the table as Alessia nodded at you.
You ended up staying at the Russo’s for a few hours, getting to know them properly. You’d briefly met in Australia at a family event for the girls but couldn’t remember even speaking to them.
“We best go” Alessia yawned.
You frowned at her yawning at 5pm, but she’d had training earlier in the day.
“It was lovely meeting you all” you smiled.
“Come around again, anytime” Alessia’s dad said.
You opened the car door for her as she slipped inside and you made your way to the driver seat.
“Look at that fucking car” Luca shouted.
“Cost a fortune” Giorgio said googling it. “Have you seen the house?” He showed his phone to Luca.
“£2.2 million” Luca gasped taking the phone out of his hands.
“Hungry?” You asked as the girl nodded. “Want to get something on the way home?”
“What you thinking?” She giggled.
“I would love something like a McDonalds” you shrugged.
“There’s one just up here to the right” she pointed and put her hand down on yours, holding the gear stick.
You pulled in and got out of the car without hesitation, you were so wrapped up with being with her you forgot about the fact you were both actual celebrities and couldn’t just walk in somewhere.
You both stood at the kiosk and banged your order into the screen.
“I’m surprised you know how to do this all on your own” Alessia smirked as you punched her arm lightly.
You grabbed the receipt as you stood tapping your fingers off your thighs and staring at the screen.
“Excuse me?” A little voice piped up beside Alessia, who whipped her head around. “Are you Y/n Williamson?” She asked, eyes fixated on you.
Alessia nudged you briefly as you looked at her.
“She wants to know if you’re Y/n Williamson” she smiled as you looked down at the child standing beside her.
You smiled at the little girl and she squealed with excitement at the full realisation that you were in fact, Y/n Williamson.
“I’m so sorry, she was refusing to leave until we agreed she could ask” a woman, who appeared to be her mum, said.
You took a picture with the girl before the mum thanked you and she ran off with excitement.
“63” a young guy shouted from behind the counter.
Alessia grabbed the receipt and walked up to the counter, grabbing the food and nudging you out of the fast food chain with her hands full.
You drove back to yours and dished out the food. You were at the kitchen table eating some nuggets when the conversation picked up.
“So you met my family” Alessia giggled as you laughed.
“Yeah, it was weird because I was just coming from telling my parents about you and” you began.
“You told your parents?” She asked.
“Yeah, is that okay?” You looked at her trying to read her expression.
“I’m sorry I was just so wrapped up in you meeting mine that I never even asked what you did today” she grabbed your hand.
“Did your family like me?” You asked nervously.
“They loved you” she smiled, jumping over to sit on your lap.
“My mum wants you to come over Thursday for family dinner” you smiled as she kissed you.
“Look at us, being all grown up” she giggled as you fell into a deep kiss.
-
When it got to Thursday, you picked up the three girls from their house and drove to your parent’s house.
Even though your families and Luke knew you were together, they hadn’t really seen much of how the two of you even interacted with one another.
Naturally, Leah was taken aback by how you were both even more cute than when you would just cuddle on the sofa bed in her house all those months ago.
Your mum and dad were big hugs like always with everyone.
They already loved Alessia from what they knew of her from Leah, but that was solidified after tonight.
Your mum called Jacob, like she did at every family dinner.
You could only get a brief few words in telling him about the upcoming event you were going to be performing at. He told you about his last game before the Australia Summer break.
You called and texted him every so often, you were both busy people and time difference certainly didn’t help.
Leah was the same, but they talked a little bit more. Maybe if you didn’t leave at 16 you’d be closer to him, and when you finally came to your senses and came home, he was gone.
Alessia and Lia were clearly up to something as both of them began helping your mum with the cleaning up, ignoring her protests.
You and Leah followed your dad into the living room so he could rant and rave about the two of them being amazing and good enough for his daughters.
You were both just happy they weren’t present for this conversation.
“Amanda?” Lia asked.
“Yes dear?”
“We were both planning on doing something for Leah and Y/n but we wanted to make sure it was okay with you first” Alessia whispered.
-
Luke was over putting final touches to your gig next week, while you were practically zoning him out and setting up the kitchen.
You still hadn’t taken Alessia on a proper first date, but the thoughts of going out somewhere when you couldn’t even run in and out of McDonalds without being recognised was too much to deal with.
“Do you have all that?” Luke asked.
“Yes, every last word” you smiled and he knew you were lying.
“Can you concentrate for 2 minutes?” He huffed. “What are you even doing?”
“I invited Less over for dinner” you explained as his face softened.
He liked how loved up you were and he loved Alessia, she was great for you.
“2 minutes and then I’ll help” he suggested as you caved and stopped.
He ran through the event and you actually did take every word in this time. When he was finished, he was true to his word and helped you getting set up.
When everything was sorted, all that was left to do was kick Luke out.
“Yeah, yeah I’m going” he chuckled hugging you goodbye and heading off. He closed the kitchen door behind him and headed down the hallway to the front door.
As he opened the door, a smiling blonde was making her way up the driveway.
“Hello stranger” he laughed, giving her a hug.
“Hi” she smiled, melting into the hug. The two had become really close friends since first meeting all those months ago now.
“Did you sort that out then?” He smirked.
“Yes. Her and Leah have no idea but I ran it by Amanda first” Alessia smiled.
“Oh good, Amanda would have killed you” Luke laughed. “I won’t keep you from your girlfriend” he teased.
“Thank you” she giggled. “Tell Steph I said hi” she teased back as they hugged and she stepped inside.
“Y/n/n?” Alessia shouted as you appeared from behind the kitchen door.
She walked towards you and placed a kiss to your lips.
“Hi love” you smiled.
“What smells so nice?” She asked.
“I made dinner” you replied as she looked around the room. Candles were burning and music was playing at a low hum. “I realised that I haven’t taken you out on a date yet, and I will. I just thought a proper dinner alone might be okay?” You asked as she kissed you again.
You caught up on the last few days over dinner. You’d been rehearsing and she had training and a match.
“You know, we don’t need to do the whole first date thing” she muttered as she played with the food on her plate.
“What do you mean?” You stuttered. You panicked in that moment, thinking she was about to tell you it was over. She sensed your panic, like she always did.
“Oh no, shit no, sorry” she blurted out grabbing your hand. “I meant, first dates are for getting to know the person. But I know you and you know me, so you don’t need to stress about this perfect romantic first date or romantic gesture. I’m really happy” she smiled as you leaned over to kiss her.
“I’m really happy too” you said as you sat back in your chair.
“So this event next week” she said
“Yeah?” You asked as you noticed a smirk on her face.
“Is there any better artists performing or is it just you?” She laughed.
“You’re spending too much time with Leah” you pointed your fork at her.
“I think it’s a different Williamson that I’m spending too much time with” she smirked.
“Oh is that so?” You laughed as you jumped up from the table and picked her up.
“Let me down” she squealed with laughter before you eventually dropped her to the ground.
She placed a quick peck on your lips before things instantly got intense, the food long forgotten as you both practically sprinted upstairs.
You were both happy in your little bubble.
You woke the next morning with a sense of stress, now suddenly realising you were in a very serious relationship with someone you really liked. And the stressful part? You were 2 days off telling the rest of the world you were cheated on but were in love again.
You didn’t see Alessia was already awake when you startled up, but she grabbed you immediately, settling your heart beat down to a normal rate.
“Baby, it’s okay” she wrapped you up as your breathing settled. “What’s wrong?” She asked.
“Can I take you somewhere today?” You asked as she nodded. “Okay, be ready in 10” you smirked as you decided to stress her out.
“You can not give me 10 minutes” she scowled. “I have so many questions, where are we going? What is the dress code? Are we eating?”
“I’m joking” you kissed her cheek. “5 minutes” you smirked as you jumped up out of bed.
“Y/n” she grunted. “If I knew you were this much of a wind up I would have said no when you asked me out” she laughed.
“I just need to be there for 12” you smiled, as she sighed in relief realising it was only 9am.
You gave her a quick kiss as you pottered into the bathroom.
It was a little while later when you were both ready and had breakfast, that you headed off.
“Are you not telling me where we’re going to purposely annoy me?” She giggled as you shrugged.
“You’ll see when we get there won’t you?” You laughed.
You pulled up outside the Spotify building in London, where your gig was going to be in a two days time.
She turned to look at you as you pulled into the car park, after speaking with security briefly.
“Why are we here?” She asked with her eyebrows raised.
“I have a final sound check today and I wanted you to hear the album before it goes out” you shrugged.
“But you never let anybody hear anything?” She questioned, a bit taken a back.
“You’re not just anybody” you smiled. “I’ve been pretty anxious about the album”
“I’m sure it’s amazing, everything you do is” she smiled.
It wasn’t want you meant, but you appreciated the compliment.
You walked in, hand in hand, not really caring who saw as it was just the band. You pointed over towards seats where Luke and Anna were sitting as she kissed your cheek and walked over.
“She’s letting you hear then?” Luke smirked.
“Apparently so” Alessia giggled.
“Is that her?” Holly asked, nudging you.
“Who?” You winked at her as she rolled her eyes.
“She must be special. Even the wicked witch of the east side wasn’t allowed listen” she laughed.
“Is this a nickname everyone was aware of but me?” You frowned as she shoved the guitar in your hand.
“Okay let’s go right through from the beginning” you explained as the music kicked in.
You played your first three songs:
You’re Gonna Go Far - you’d written that about leaving home
Your Bones and then Everywhere, Everything - two songs you’d written about Mel.
“Are they about Mel?” Alessia asked Luke who didn’t look at her.
“I think so” Luke nodded. “She said it was going to be a bit of a story so I guess it was natural” he added as she nodded.
Was your new girlfriend overly happy that you’d written not one, but two love songs about your ex? No, was the short answer.
“I fucking hate them two” you groaned, you thought enough away from the microphone, but it was heard by Alessia and Luke.
“They are good songs though” Holly laughed, also heard into the mic. “You know wicked witch is going to have a field day when she hears them”.
“Let’s keep going” you suggested as you looked over to a now smiling Alessia who was laughing about something with Luke.
“This can’t be a chronological story” Alessia giggled.
“Why not?” Luke laughed.
“She’s talking about meeting someone when she was still with Mel” Alessia explained as Luke shrugged.
“Anna, we surely can’t let her” Luke tried but Anna stopped him.
“If she wants to out Mel, leave her be” she tutted.
“So this is chronological?” Alessia asked.
“It seems that way” Luke huffed.
“Who did she meet when she was still with Mel?” She whispered as he was lost in thought.
“Luke, do you think?” Alessia asked but she was quickly shushed by Anna.
Alessia was point blank refusing to take any of this in. You did not write an album and make half of it about her. You couldn’t have, right?
“Did she say Less?” Alessia asked Luke in a whispered tone.
“Hm I must not have heard that” he shrugged with a smirk.
Yes, you had subtly put her nickname into those two songs.
“Amazing” Anna stood and clapped. “Simply wonderful, you are a superstar” she headed over to someone on the stage as they began talking.
“You alright?” Luke asked gripping Alessia’s hand, who was now a sobbing mess. “Oh come on, she wasn’t that bad” he teased as she punched him in the arm.
“Between you, Leah and her I never get a second away from being wound up” she giggled.
The pair walked up to you as you caught the tear stained eyes of her. A look of guilt took over your face.
“Fuck I knew it was a bad decision” you huffed, shaking your head. Holly immediately picking up what you meant.
“You have other songs, you could switch them” Holly suggested.
“I just wanted it to be like a story but it was so stupid putting them songs on it about her. I’m so sorry” you felt Alessia’s hands grip yours and pull you into a hug.
“Don’t change anything. It was amazing” she smiled against you.
“Are you sure?” You asked as she nodded. You felt a nudge into the back. “This is Holly by the way” you stepped back to allow them to greet each other and introduced the rest of the band.
“This is my girlfriend, Alessia” you smiled, squeezing her hand a bit tighter.
She loved how that word sounded, and even more so it was how you introduced her to people.
-
“Less, we have to go” you shouted. You were already running 10 minutes late and London traffic is never the ideal.
“Can I just say, she is the best girl you’ve ever introduced us to” your mum announced loudly.
“So much nicer than the other wicked” your dad added.
“Dad” you huffed, cutting him off.
“He has a point” Leah got involved.
“Leah” your mum warned them both with her eyes.
“We love Alessia, Lia and Steph” Amanda said squeezing Lia and Steph’s cheeks as the two of them giggled.
“But isn’t Luke not” Steph tried to say before Leah stopped her.
“Best not to open that can of worms” Leah shook her head and shot Steph a look.
Your parents always had seen Luke as a son, even though he was scared of your dad. He would always be at your house when he ran away from home.
Alessia was stood in your bedroom looking out the window and only moved when she seen the limousine pull up.
“Lia, Steph, can you help me?” She shouted from the top of the stairs as the two girls began to run up.
“Luke” Steph giggled as he also went with them.
“Why are they acting weird?” Leah frowned.
“It’s you football people” you teased. “Do they not teach you how to be on time at work?” You groaned.
A knock on the door came as you grunted loudly.
“Don’t answer it, we are already late” you explained as your dad shook his head and headed to the door.
He knew who it was, as did your mum. You and Leah had no idea.
“Anna is going to murder me” you put your hands through your hair.
“It’s your girlfriend’s fault” Leah mocked as you shot her a look. Even if it was Alessia’s fault, you weren’t going to admit that.
“Leah, leave your sister alone” your dad tutted as he returned to the room.
“Who was at the door?” You asked.
“Some young boy, wanted to know if Y/n Williamson lived here. He said he needed a place to stay and heard she bought this big fancy house” your dad laughed as you and Leah looked at him like he had six heads.
“You’re right dad, the guest room closest to the stairs is nicer” Jacob laughed as you and Leah instantly shot to your feet.
“What the fuck” you shouted.
“Language” your mum tutted.
“How are you here?” Leah gasped as she pulled him into a hug.
“Your girlfriends” he shrugged as the four reappeared behind him. You and Leah exchanged a look.
“Ready to go?” Luke asked, as if nothing was out of the blue.
“Did you know about this?” You asked as you were now stood with Jacob’s arm around your shoulder and Leah to his other side.
“Know about what? Aren’t we late already?” He smirked.
Your dad and mum pulled Jacob towards the front of the house and out towards the car
“That’s my room by the way, you can’t stay in that” Leah shouted after him, pulling Lia along with her.
Steph grabbed Luke’s hand and walked out of the house and all that was left was you and Alessia.
“I hope it’s okay that” she began
“You’re amazing, do you know that?” You smiled, cutting her off.
“Yeah, I do actually” she smirked as she pulled you in for a kiss. “But we are going to be late and Anna is going to murder you” she giggled as she grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the door.
You locked up the house and headed off towards the event.
You got in the car, sitting beside Alessia, who was giggling about something you said.
“She never mentioned they were together” Jacob whispered to your sister.
“They haven’t been together that long, they didn’t tell anybody until a few days ago” Leah replied.
“How do you feel about it?” He asked as Leah looked at the pair of you. It actually wasn’t as awkward as was it might seem that you were dating the girl that lived and worked with your sister.
Leah had never seen you look happier.
“Look at them” she laughed as he did. “She’s in love with her” she smiled.
You were holding her hand rambling on about something that she was finding hilarious.
“So, what about her and Mel?” He whispered as quietly as possible, although there was a good distance between you and them.
“It was rough” she shook her head. They had spoken about it as it was going on over the phone. “But there’s been no contact as of recent”
The car pulled up as everyone began to get out before it was just you, Luke and Alessia left.
“There’s paparazzi out there so maybe best you don’t go in together” Luke said.
“Good luck” she quickly kissed your cheek before jumping out and catching up to Steph, linking her arm and walking in together.
“Ready to go?” He asked as you nodded.
You got out of the car and could barely see straight with the amount of flashing cameras being put in your face. Luke was basically acting like your security guard trying to get you to the front of the venue.
“There you are” Anna groaned as you got to the door. “You are due on stage in 10 minutes” she handed Luke a clipboard who began reading it out.
The two of them began talking to you about how it was going to play out. There was a conversation piece to go through with the host and then you’d be performing the album.
As Anna was talking and you were being mic’d up, you looked up and caught a glimpse of the crowd. There was only a couple of hundred people there, but somehow you met her eyes. They had been seated in a position that they could see you backstage. However, the general audience couldn’t.
She smiled and gave you a little wave as you reciprocated the action.
“Focus” Anna snapped as she began to speak again.
“Here’s the questions you’ll be asked in the interview portion” Luke said handing you a piece of paper.
You scanned through them, they were standard interview questions that most people would ask.
“And then you’ll be performing all 13 songs” Anna inputted again before stepping off to clear something with the runner about your instruments.
You loved to sing, but there was nothing worse than standing still on stage. You played an instrument to each one of your songs and switched them up to keep yourself entertained.
For this performance you needed three different types of guitars, a banjo, which you’d now mastered, and a piano.
Anna and Luke were running through the last bits of information with you as you heard the host greeting the crowd.
Eventually you were called onto the stage and Anna, Luke and the band stood side stage for this portion of the evening.
For a crowd of just a few hundred, it sounded like thousands.
“Thank you so much for joining us this evening” she smiled at you.
“Thanks for having me” you shook her hand and sat down on the arm chair.
“How are you?” She asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine. London traffic is definitely still crazy” you laughed. “How are you?”
You’d done a few interviews with the girl before.
“I’m great, thank you” she giggled, trying to remember the last time a celebrity had asked her a genuine question.
She went through the questions that Luke had given you, it was all fairly straight forward. You’d been through extensive media training to know how to answer a question without really answering it.
“Favourite song to perform?”
“London”
“Oh? Why’s that?”
“I guess the answer to that question has changed a lot. But, that song is actually kind of sad in a weird way and sometimes songs can change meanings” you explained. “The last time I played it, to a crowd, was at a really small event and it just had a really nice vibe to it”
“The last time you played it at an event? Do you sing your songs around the house?” She laughed.
“I played it for someone a few months ago” you smirked.
“Best place you’ve ever played?”
“Madison Square Garden”
“Favourite thing to do in your free time?”
“Watch a movie or a match”
“Something you can’t live without?”
“Coffee”
“London or New York?”
“London”
“So how has moving back to London been?”
That had not been on the list.
“It was difficult at the start I guess” you shrugged. “I was quite upset leaving the States, you know, but my sister and my friends really dragged me out of a bad patch” you smiled in their direction and then towards side stage where Luke was.
“And is there anybody new on the scene?” She winked as the audience all let out a few cheers whistles.
You laughed before catching Alessia’s eyes, she nodded like she was giving you permission.
“Yeah, I’ve been seeing someone for a little while now” you chuckled. “But we’re enjoying just keeping to ourselves” you smiled as the host nodded.
“So you’re going to perform the album this evening?” She asked.
“Yeah, I’ve brought the band over and everything. We’ve been rehearsing for a good while now so I really hope you guys like this” you laughed anxiously, but the crowd cheered as the band walked out.
Holly handed you your guitar as Anna and Luke took their seats beside your family, Less, Lia and Steph.
“Now, please be reminded there is a strict no recording policy in place” the host told the crowd as you and the band set up.
“You ready?” Holly asked as you nodded.
“Let’s fucking do this” you smiled taking your guitar from her.
It was a complete success, the crowd absolutely loved the album. It was such a relief.
“Wasn’t that amazing?” The host announced. “Now if you’ll all hang out while we set up the meet and greet”
You were laughing with Holly about something on stage as you whipped around.
“Meet and greet with everyone?” Holly asked as you looked flabbergasted.
Anna was straight out of her seat and rushing towards the host to see what was going on.
She ushered everyone backstage trying to get to the bottom of why they were expecting you to do a meet and greet for everyone in attendance.
“Take it up with whoever marketed this event” one of the Spotify staff huffed as he handed Anna a contract that clearly stated it would be a meet and greet event.
“Luke” she scowled at the guilty looking boy.
“This meet and greet would take hours” Luke explained to the staff. “Her brother just got back from Australia” he rambled as he was met with heads shaking.
“Luke, it’s fine” you whispered, pulling him away from the conversation.
“I’m so sorry” he mumbled frantically shaking his head.
“It’s just a few hundred people, it won’t take long” it was the last thing you wanted to do but you smiled and hugged him. “Can you just make sure Alessia and Jacob get back to the house alright?” You asked as he nodded.
“How long do you need to set up?” You asked the staff member.
“About 10 minutes” he replied.
“Holly” you shouted as she ran up to you. “Come on” you pulled her back onto stage as the crowd cheered.
“Hello, everyone” you smiled. “The guys just need a few minutes to set up, so we thought we could play something while we waited?” You asked as the crowd instantly agreed.
“If it’s alright with you, I’m going to play my girlfriend’s two favourite songs” you laughed as a round of “aws” left the crowd.
You played London and Northern Attitude as you watched her singing every word with Steph.

You eventually got home after the 3 hours it took to get through everyone. Although, you didn’t mind. You liked meeting fans.
You slumped on the couch, and it seemed like nobody was home. You presumed Alessia was in her and Leah’s, while Jacob went to your parent’s house when they realised you were going to be awhile.
You flicked on your phone to see texts from everyone

You’re so great baby girl!
Luke 👊🏻
I’m so sorry again.
You were great this evening
Steph said thank you x
You noticed that Alessia hadn’t messaged you. You frowned and placed your phone down, trying to gather your thoughts before you moved.
You were drained.
“You know” she smirked against the door as your head whipped around. “For a celebrity, you would think you would take more notice of who is in your house”
“Thank god you’re here” you smiled getting off the couch and pulling her in against you. She noticed how your body practically went lifeless against her.
“Tired?” She asked as you nodded with a yawn.
You both headed up towards bed and it wasn’t too long before you fell asleep.
You got up early the next morning, leaving Alessia tucked in bed and collecting Luke, who owed you a favour.
“I need you to do me that favour” you said as you handed him your house key. “I just can’t go in myself” you nodded your head towards the shopfront.
He was gone before a few minutes before he returned back to the car.
“I presume it’s for Lessi?” He asked as you shrugged.
“No, it’s for my other girlfriend” you smirked as he laughed.
You dropped him home on your way back to your own house, where you found Alessia making breakfast.
“Where’d you go?” She smiled wrapping her arms around your neck.
“I just needed to pop out for a few” you smiled as you kissed her and began to help her with breakfast.
When you both sat at the kitchen table and tucking into food, you spoke up.
“I, uh, got something for you” you smiled.
“Oh yeah?” She asked putting her fork down.
“Here” you handed her a key that you had gotten cut this morning with Luke. “It’s a key to the house” you smiled.
“So, I can stop breaking in?” She smirked as you laughed. “Come here” she said pulling at the collar of your hoodie and pulling you in for a kiss.
She pulled your hoodie over your head and threw it away. You picked her up as she sat on the kitchen counter, legs wrapped around your waist.
“Good morning” Leah shouted as she came through the kitchen door with Jacob. “Oh god my eyes” she groaned as Jacob laughed.
Maybe you needed to stop handing out keys.

i can’t keep doing this

paul lahote x reader
synopsis: befriending the new girl in school was supposed to be a fresh start, but all it did was lead you back to square one
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
you had been sitting in your car, fixing your school bags strap when you saw her pull in. that dull orange truck had wheezed as she parked in, and the door could’ve swung off its hinges with the way she slammed it. but you got out of your car, passing the laughing remarks of the other kids and jogged slightly to catch up to her, “nice truck. i actually once knew a guy who owned one just like that.” you had commented, and earned a simple smile from the girl, who you would go on to be incredibly close to.
bella had pulled you aside in the hallway after a class, “hey.” you looked at her, she hadn’t been doing so well the last few months since edward had left, and you had been by her side through it out, mostly in silence but still supportive.
you brushed back your hair and waited expectantly.
she smiled awkwardly, “another friend of mine invited me to this thing later tonight. kind of a bonfire, if you want to go?” bella looked a little nervous to be asking you to accompany her but you smiled widely, “of course! pick me up?”
as bella pulled into the reservation, you realized it was far too late to argue a leave, or even come up with a good excuse not to go to the bonfire.
your stomach sunk with the thought of seeing him again. especially not after what had happened.
paul had been moody lately. he had cut his hair, gotten a tattoo and had ignored all your calls. you weren’t sure what was wrong with him, even his other friends had told you to stop asking questions, and that he didn’t want to see you anymore.
he had fallen victim to the growing gang in the reservation, and all your attempts at seeing him were unsuccessful except one.
you were trudging back home from emily’s house when you saw him through the leaves. you could recognize that back from anywhere, and the tight muscles as he moved had your feet running to him.
“paul!” you shouted, and watched him turn around to see you. his expression was stony, and his body felt like concrete as you ran to embrace him. you hugged him for a moment when you realized that he wasn’t hugging you back. he wasn’t even trying to look happy, and you pulled away to see him staring at you, “paul?” you stepped back and he sighed, “go home, y/n. i’ve told the boys to tell you, and you just can’t seem to get it, can you?”
his tone was harsh, and he was looking at you as if you weren’t really there.
“paul? are you serious?” your voice wavered, and you realized that you were starting to cry. never had your big, grumpy teddy bear of a boyfriend ever been so cruel to you.
you balked, and didn’t say anything else as you walked away, paul disappearing into the woods shortly after.
you clutched onto bella’s arm just as jacob neared. you could recognize the boy anywhere, always sulking with quil and embry whenever paul was around. paul had a thing for teasing the younger boys, and you would always scold him.
“bella!” jacob greeted your friend before turning to look at you. “y/n?” he said in complete shock, before pulling you into a quick hug, “where have you been?!”
bella turned to look at you and then back at jacob, “you guys know each other?”
jacob nodded, “y/n used to be at the reservation all the time. practically a fixture here.” he nudged you and you let out a small laugh, “don’t exaggerate. i was here a couple times during the week.” you tried to play it off but bella seemed to smile at the revelation.
“paul wouldn’t tell us why you stopped coming. even after he nearly beat me to a pulp.” jacob admitted, and you realized that he was serious about getting beat up. you nodded, “yeah. last time i talked with him, he was telling me to go home.” you let out a weak laugh, “guess i finally listened, huh?”
jacobs face dropped and you grabbed bella’s hand, “come on, let’s get a good spot, hmm?”
jacob followed in silence, and as you sat down, all eyes were on the two of you. bella, who was a new pale face amongst theirs, and you, who’s return almost felt like a crime.
whispers swirled around you, especially as quil and embry nudged jacob, asking when you had gotten back, and if paul knew.
from your observation, paul wasn’t around, and you silently hoped that he wouldn’t show up. there was things that shouldn’t be dug up, and your relationship with paul was one of those things.
bella had so many questions for you, but as the legends of the tribe was shared, she had forgotten all about them, even when you had snagged away, she stayed with jacob, listening intently.
emily had asked to talk to you. she led you to her house, where you saw him. he was shirtless, something that he had been as well the last time you had saw him, only this time he wasn’t wearing a blank stare on his face.
you looked at emily and shook your head, “no.” you turned around, and felt emily’s hand on your arm, and you pulled, “this isn’t fair, emily. you weren’t there, you didn’t experience what he said-“ you cried, throwing your hands up in frustration as you heard the grass thumping behind you.
paul was next to you and he was holding in all the words, “what?” you looked at him through your tears, “had to pull me away so you could personally tell me to get the fuck out?” you were sniffling now, and continued to walk.
“no.” paul answered, “i pulled you away to apologize. and if you shut up and listen, then maybe you’ll get to hear it, hm?” typical paul behavior, and he was right. you stopped, but you didn’t dare to look at him.
“i’m sorry. the moment that i saw you in that forest i knew what we were.” he continued, “soulmates. our future, i saw it there, when you hugged me i saw our future and it was kind, it was beautiful.” you shook your head, sniffling even harder, “it’s hard to believe, but i pushed you away because i was scared, you don’t deserve to have to deal with this, deal with me.” he walked to face you and you cried harder now, he looked the same as before, unchanging, and still wickedly handsome.
you knew of the legends, of the rumors of those ‘giant bears’ seen around forks. but you knew from the sincerity in paul’s voice that he was telling the truth.
you closed your eyes, “i cant do this anymore paul. not again.” you looked down at the ground, “i don’t care what the universe says. soulmates or not, you hurt me, and for that i don’t think i can find it in me to forgive you.” you felt like a heavy weight had been lifted off your chest, and so you looked at paul, before turning to walk back to the bonfire.

a/n: i got too sad after writing that last thing and needed to do something silly
summary: there's a new member of the household and you have to convince simon to like them.

warnings: simon being mean to a dog :(
---
“Hey, I’m…uh—I’m on my way home.”
“Oh!” You say.
There’s a certain exasperation to your voice that makes him think that you’re somewhere that isn’t the house. He puts his phone down in the cupholder and places both of his hands on the wheel of the car.
“In an hour.”
“An hour?”
“An hour.”
“Could you fuck off somewhere and maybe make it, like an hour and a half?”
“I’d like to go home.”
“I know, yes. I know. It’s just that I have this whole thing planned and I need an extra thirty minutes. You’d be doing me a pretty big solid if you fucked off for a little bit longer.”
“I’m tired and I’m hungry. I’m not gonna fuck off.”
“What, are we making this a race?”
“You can race. I’m going home.”
“Okay, we’re gonna race.” You say, halfway through laughter.
“What are you doing?”
“It’s a surprise.”
“I don’t like surprises.” He says.
“Well, I love you and I need you to suck it up because it’s a pretty cool surprise.”
Simon blinks, keeping his eyes on the road. Then, he sighs and says, “I’ll see you at home.”
“Not if I see you first!” You reply, this time a little out of breath.
“I’m not racing you.”
“Scared you’re gonna lose?”
“Goodbye.”
“Love you!”
The line dies out.
Part of him wants to be annoyed. Surprises weren’t exactly his favorite thing in the world. He especially did not like such a surprise that would keep him from coming home after a very long month of trying not to die in a violent, fiery explosion. And, he deeply, desperately wanted to lie down in a bed with an actual mattress, real pillows, and clean blankets.
But, for the life of him, he could not think of anything more unbearable than the thought of letting you down.
It was almost laughable. Simon is first and foremost a soldier. And, when you’re a soldier first before anything else, like a friend, companion, romantic partner, let downs were par for the course. A birthday, an anniversary. Celebrating a promotion or any other achievement of the like. Those didn’t even come secondary or even tertiary on the line of things that needed to be cared about.
And, the worst part, is that you tolerated it. Sure, there was a certain disappointment to a missed call or text. Despite that, you loved him with a stability that he couldn’t possibly be more grateful for. It made him feel almost normal. Normalcy was a luxury someone like him couldn’t typically afford.
So, before he pulls his car into the driveway, Simon mentally prepares himself to be open-minded. Whatever the surprise was, he would do his best to actually try and enjoy it. That is until he unlocked the front door to the house and stepped in, only to be greeted with the sight of a dog sitting up, barking at him from within a metal crate.
She was clearly still a pup. Her paws are far too big for the size that she currently was. And, the more clear it is that Simon was no threat to her, the more she cries to be let out. Though, Simon makes no move to do any such thing. Instead, he sits on the couch and looks back at her until eventually, she stops making noise all together and resolves herself to sit quietly. Each time Simon accidentally catches her eye, her tail wags, bumping against the floor of her crate softly.
This goes on for about twenty more minutes before a key turns in the door knob once again. You step through, carrying bags of groceries.
“Sweetheart.”
“Can you help me with these?” You say.
Simon gets up, takes bags out of your hands and walks them into the kitchen. “Why is there a dog in the house?”
You lean down to lift the latch off of the door and the dog comes barreling out. “You couldn’t have opened her crate up for her? Why were you just staring at her like a weirdo? It’s a dog.”
“Why is there a dog in the house?”
“It’s our dog.” From one of the bags you were still holding, you pull out a bag of dog treats and throw it at Simon. “Give her one of these so she knows you’re not a complete hardass.”
“I’m not giving it anything.”
“Simon.”
He looks back at you. And, from the way you stare back at him, it becomes more and more clear that this dog is one of the very very few things that you simply won’t back down on.
In fact, there were toys all over the ground. He’s not sure how he didn’t notice them earlier. And, with an attentiveness that only slightly put him off, the dog fell into step beside you following you very closely while also looking up at you for any sign of praise or reward.
Simon inhales, then exhales. He grumbles under his breath, then rips the bag of treats open and kneels down with one of them in his hand. When the dog notices, she clumsily stumbles her way over to him and gratefully takes the treat from out of his fingers.
You appear at his side and kneel down next to him, pressing a kiss against his cheek. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
“Whose dog is this?”
“Ours.”
“I don’t want a dog.”
“You’ll learn to want a dog.” You say, jokingly. Your hands wrap around his arm and shake him gently.
“I’m serious.”
“Well, you aren’t exactly home very often. I think the decision is mine.” You say, firmly. “And, as sad as it is to admit, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t lonely, sometimes.”
He can feel the weight of your head on his shoulder. He doubts that your intent is to guilt him–but if it is, it’s certainly working.
The dog nudges her wet nose into the palm of his hand. No doubt looking for more treats Her head is smaller than his hand. As gently as possible, he brushes his knuckles over her head.
“Does the dog… make you feel less lonely?”
“Yes. Most of the time.”
He rests his palm over her head now, brushing his thumb back and forth over the space between her eyes.
“What’s it’s name then?”
“Goose.”
“Stupid fucking name.” He says, softly.
“Fuck you.” You laugh. “You love it. Asshole.”
Goose walks in a circle in her spot, then sits with her back turned to him. She leans her weight against his knee.
“Not much of a guard dog.” He murmurs, and you reach a hand to scratch behind her ear. “Hardly did anything when I came in.”
“Because she’s a good girl.” You say.
He can feel her tail hit his foot at the sudden excitement at being praised for being anything. “If she’s gonna stay in this house, she’s gonna have to protect it.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
Simon takes another treat out of the bag. Goose does absolutely nothing to hide her excitement. “And, how did this happen?”
“She got dumped outside of my work. No one wanted to take her so I took her.” You say. Simon looks at you and you look back at him. “No chip, no collar. She was wandering around our parking lot for hours, I think. Probably waiting for whoever dumped her. Vet said she can’t be any older than five months.”
“When was this?”
“About a month and a half ago.” You rub your thumb against his arm and press your mouth against his shoulder. “I’m glad you’re home.”
“Yeah.”
“So, what do you think?”
Slowly, Goose sinks down closer to the ground and settles her chin over her far-too-big paws. She looks at Simon, blinking at him with big eyes before they slowly settle into a nap.
“I think that a dog is a perfect waste of space.”
“Okay, what do you really think?” You chuckle.
He sighs. A moment passes of complete silence. You’re hanging onto his arm, kneeling beside him as you both look down at this dog who can only get bigger and dirtier and stupider. This dog, who is also very soft and sweet. And, while (in his own opinion) he might be something of a monster, Simon couldn’t allow himself to be completely heartless. He couldn’t be the thing that takes away the bits of happiness that you can find for yourself.
“If it makes you happy, then I can hardly say no.”
You smile at him, give his arm a squeeze, and press another kiss on his cheek. You stand, “Do you wanna help me with dinner?”
“I’m gonna get cleaned up first.”
You hum in response but before you can fully turn away, he takes your hand and places a kiss on your cheek just below your eye, then another on your mouth. And in the moment that either of you are looking away from Goose, she gets up and begins chewing on his shoelaces.
“She likes you.”
“If I’m lucky it’ll pass.”
“Unfortunately, I can’t say that it will.”
Another moment passes where it’s nearly completely silent, save for the sound of Goose’s mouth gnawing the little strings attached to Simon’s feet. Then, slowly, you wrap your arms around his neck and give him a squeeze.
Then, you pull away, picking up Goose with a labored groan. You walk her over to the back door, open it, and place her down at the threshold. She all but stumbles down the steps into the backyard.
“Well, go get cleaned up if you really wanna help me with dinner.”
Simon watches you empty out grocery bags, then sighs. You listen to his footsteps walk farther into the house. And, through the window, you watch Goose twist up and roll into a splotch of mud.

Do you remember happy together? I do, don't you?
You squeal in excitement. You had just dropped your first ever album. “I’m so proud of you, my darling,” Tom hugs you tightly as he kisses your hair. “Thank you,” You says against his ear.
That night, the two of you stayed home, ordered pizza and drank wine in each other’s arms. Tom was so incredibly proud of you, he knew the hardships you faced that year when composing the songs and everything else that was going on in life.
You felt so blessed to have had Tom by your side during the particularly rough year. “I love you,” You whisper, your breathe fanning Tom’s neck as he pulls you closer to him. “I love you more,” He whispered back as you smiled.
Then all of a sudden, you're sick to your stomach, Is that still true?
Tom felt sick in the stomach knowing what he had done. It was a simple drunken mistake that he could never forgive himself. He cheated on you. He could never forget how he absolutely shattered your pure heart, all because of his drunken actions.
You said, "Forever, " in the end I fought it, Please be honest, are we better for it?
“I will forever love you, y/n.” He says against your lips before kissing you. You melt into the kiss, your arms wrapping around his neck as you bring him closer to you.
“You said you’d love me forever Tom- I-I don’t understand why’d you would do this-“ You furrow your eyebrows as tears had blurred up your vision. “I’m so sorry y/n, please-“ He tries to say as his hand touches your arm but you pull away from him, too hurt, too broken.
Thought you'd hate me, but instead you called and said, "I miss you", I caught it
You pick at your fingernails as your leg bounces up and down. You were sat at your desk, alone in the house. It had been a month since you broke up with Tom. And you couldn’t help but think about him every single day.
He was your everything. You couldn’t just get him out of your head that quickly. You flinch at the sound of your phone going off, buzzing on the table as you turn your phone over revealing his name on the caller id.
You stare at it for a few seconds, contemplating. “Hello?” Your voice was quiet as you hear a silence on the other end. “Tom? Are you there-“ “I miss you,” You hear him say, his voice just as shaky as yours; you bite your trembling lip, trying so hard to hold back the tears that were threatening to come out.
Good to each other, give it the summer, I knew you too
Little did you know that that summer was going to be your last one spent with Tom. He hadn’t told you that he had cheated on you yet, but you felt a shift.
You felt a change that you tried to ignore the best you could until you couldn’t handle it anymore.
But I only saw you once in December. I'm still confused.
You saw him once in December. That was all. You didn’t know why he was ignoring you and being so distant.
You said, "Forever, " and I almost bought it. I miss fightin' in your old apartment
“Forever.” What a fucking lie. “Why are you being so fucking distant towards me!” You yell, walking into his apartment as he slams the door behind him. “I’m not! I’ve been busy with my own fucking life y/n” He screams back as you both stare at each other.
“You could still try and make an effort Tom! I’m your girlfriend!” You storm up to him, finger pointing at him as he shoves your hand away from him, walking away without saying a word. “Don’t walk away from me-“ You shout as you follow him upstairs, “I don’t want to talk right now,” He seethes, slamming his bedroom door on your face.
You stand there as you scoff. You lift your hand up to knock but figured it would be no use, so, you walked back downstairs, grabbed your things and left.
Breakin' dishes when you're disappointed, I still love you, I promise
“Why-Why couldn’t you just tell me y/n,” He pulls at his hairs as you sat on the couch, knees to your chin as you look down on the ground. “I didn’t know how to,” You say quietly, not sure if he heard you.
“Y/n,” He sternly says as you look meet his angry eyes, “I said, I didn’t know how to tell you-“ smash. You flinch, gasping at the noise of mug smashing into little bits. Tears started flowing down your cheeks as you bury your head in your arms, sobbing.
Tom breathes heavily as he realises what he’s done. “Fuck,” He walks to you on the couch, his hand softly touching your hair as he listens to you sob. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry y/n,” He whispers he sits beside you, placing a gentle kiss on your arm.
“Please forgive me, darling,” He cooed. His anger got the better of him. You look at him, teary eyed. He wore an apologetic look on his face as you cry even harder, sitting on his lap as he hugs you tight, whispering sweet nothings into your ear.
Nothin' happened in the way I wanted. Every corner of this house is haunted
You stand in the living room of your house. Eyes puffy from crying, and a bag in hand with your things that you collected from Tom’s place. Looking around the place gave you flashbacks of you and Tom.
You got this house soon after you started dating Tom nearly 4 years ago now. There were so many memories made here and you couldn’t stop thinking about them.
And I know you said that we're not talkin', But I miss you, I'm sorry
You felt somewhat guilty for missing him. After all, he was the one who cheated on you. Tom told you it would be better to go our seperate ways and limit interactions with each other as much as possible.
It still hurt. Waking up and knowing your relationship with Tom ended. The one person you could confide to was no longer there for you. The one person who knew how to cheer you up after a rough day wasn’t by your side anymore.
The one person who would travel with you around the world for concerts, and if he couldn’t, he would make sure to face time you every day no matter how early or late it was for him.

summary: You finally arrive in Switzerland and take a trip to Nico's hometown. Nothing can go wrong, right?
warnings: angst (sorta. at the end), drinking mentioned, not edited, probably some inaccurate descriptions of Switzerland, but I did my best ahaha, poorly translated german!!!
note: thank you guys for the love on the first part! i hope you enjoy this as much. my inbox is always open for questions or concerns!
part one
JULY 2023
The plane rides to Switzerland were arguably the worst experiences of your life, when it came to air travel at least. First, people at the terminals were absolutely miserable and rude to you from the moment you stepped foot in the airports until you sat in your seat on the plane. Second, you almost missed your flight after your overnight layover because the hotel shuttle broke down. Then, you were unfortunately seated next to the seemingly one person on the plane who snored while they slept. On top of all of that, you were in the middle seat for both flights.
Needless to say, you had had enough of planes for the time being and you wouldn’t be upset if you stayed in Switzerland for the rest of your life if it meant never having to do that again. The only thing that got you through all of that without crying your eyes out were Nico’s excited texts about your arrival, and also Jack, who had to talk you down from fighting one of the terminal women at the airport after Charlie called him in a panic.
Once you and Charlie had gone through the proper channels to be granted clearance and had your suitcases, you searched the sea of people bustling around the airport for Nina, Nico’s sister. You’d only seen her in pictures, but Nico had made her send you a picture of what she would be wearing to make her a little easier for you to spot. You were grateful that she had, because you’re not sure you would’ve found her if it weren’t for knowing she was wearing a bright yellow top.
“Hello,” She beams, her smile just as bright and her accent thicker than her brothers, “It’s so nice to finally meet you! Nico has not shut up about you since he got back home.”
Your cheeks instantly flushed a deep shade of pink as you let the man to her left take your suitcase, while she grabbed at Charlie’s. You’d known Nico had told his sister about your arrival and trip, but you didn’t think there was enough to tell that would’ve had him discussing you for the last two months. Though, you were going to choose to not dwell or read too much into it. Maybe it was a simple mistranslation.
“It’s nice to finally meet you, too,” You grinned, letting her pull you forward into a hug, “I’ve heard so much about you over the years.”
“Hopefully good things,” She teases as she gently squeezes you, “This is my boyfriend, Finn.”
You step out of Nina’s grasp and take Finn’s outstretched hand, a warm smile on your face as you introduce yourself. Once Charlie had made her own introductions, Nina was ready to set off towards the car. She relayed an apology from Nico, mentioning how he desperately tried to get out of the prior commitment just so that he was able to pick the two of you up. You had to ignore Charlie’s not-so-subtle elbow into your rib cage as she snickered.
“I’ll be sure to tell him not to worry. After all, he’s letting us stay in his house for free,” You lightly laughed, handing your backpack to Finn as he loaded the trunk.
“Yes, he told me about that. He said you are quite stubborn, in the best way,” She had a mischievous smile toying on her face, “He was ready to give up the entire place, but he said you wouldn’t let him.”
“Yeah,” You shyly laughed, “I’m not putting him out of his own home. I don’t mind sharing a bed with Charlie.”
Nina slightly raised her brows at you, giving you a teasing smile when she noticed the blush that was still decorating your cheeks. You averted your gaze away from the woman in front of you, trying to not think about how much Nico had told his sister about you. Trying to ignore the stampede of butterflies in your stomach.
“Thank you,” You and Charlie said at the same time as Finn grabbed the last of your bags, earning an amused look from the Swiss natives in front of you.
Nina offered either one of you the front seat, but you both declined and slid into the back instead. The drive there was filled with her pointing out landmarks or important shops, with Finn chiming in every once in a while despite his English being slightly off. You made a mental note to learn more words in their language to better communicate with him, and the other Swiss born people you’d encounter. You tried to learn the language as best as you could over Duolingo without asking Nico, but that proved to be more difficult than you’d anticipated.
Nearly halfway through the drive to the apartment, you’d gotten a text from Nico that mentioned how sorry he was for not only him not being there, but for also sticking you with his sister until he was done. You bit your lip in order to prevent yourself from smiling, though it didn’t necessarily work based on Nina’s smirk when she glanced back at you. Your response was simple, telling him that it was perfectly fine, that you loved his sister, and you were excited to see what he had in store.
When Finn pulls up to Nico’s complex, he leaves the car running outside the main front door and jumps out to grab your suitcases from the trunk. You slip out of the backseat, Charlie following suit as the two of them nearly shove you away as they grab your bags. Finn mumbles something to Nina before placing a gentle kiss to her lips and getting back into the car.
“He said wait here until he parks the car,” Nina translated, hands on her hips as she watches him drive off, “So, you and my brother are not…?”
The question caught you so off guard that you slightly choke on the air in your lungs, your eyes widening as Charlie let out a loud laugh. “We’re just friends,” You explained, your voice slightly cracking in embarrassment.
“I don’t buy it,” She shrugs nonchalantly, her brow quirking as she looks at you, “I know my brother, and you’re quite obvious too, you know.”
“Oh, I know,” Charlie snorted, ignoring the scowl you sent her way.
“We’re just friends,” You repeated, your voice much softer as you stared at your shoes.
Though Nina still didn’t believe you, she dropped the subject and fell into conversation with Charlie as you sat with your thoughts. It was a secret to none, except for Nico himself apparently, that you had feelings for him, and you’re not sure how you plan to keep those tucked away for the next week and a half. Nina’s subtle comments about how much he spoke about you were not helping you, either. In fact, they were letting you drift back over into the possibility of him liking you back.
Finn quickly returned, taking only your suitcase after you put up a stubborn argument when he tried to carry your backpack as well. Nina translated for the both of you in amusement, laughing with Charlie when you placed your hands on your hips and shook your head at Finn. After your small, harmless debate had been settled, you followed them inside and up to Nico’s apartment. While you were in the elevator, you felt your phone buzzing in your back pocket, and you saw Nico’s name on the screen.
“Hello,” You answered, turning away from the smug smiles of the three of them.
“Hey! Did you guys make it to the apartment,” He asks, only the quiet hum of passing traffic being heard in the background, “I’m on my way now. I made them let me leave early.”
“Yeah, we’re in the elevator right now,” You told him, a light blush decorating your cheeks simply from speaking to him, “You didn’t have to leave early. We would’ve been fine.”
“Oh, he left early,” You heard Charlie’s teasing whisper followed by Nina’s giggle.
“I wanted to. I’ll be there in about ten minutes, so I will see you soon,” His voice was slightly softer than usual, almost as if he was trying to hold himself back from something.
“Great, see you soon,” You bashfully spoke, all too aware of the audience behind you.
You disconnected the call, avoiding turning around to see what you know are going to be playful grins and relentless comments on how red your face had gotten. Luckily, the elevator had reached Nico’s floor, and Nina was slipping past you to lead the way. Shaking your head when Charlie winked at you, you followed the two of them down the hallway until you reached what you assume is Nico’s apartment since Nina’s fishing around her bag for a set of keys.
When she finally gets the door unlocked, she pushes it open and gestures for the two of you to step inside. Your eyes are dancing around the apartment, drinking in all of the little details and decorations that littered the space. Pictures of his family and friends hung on the wall, but there was one picture in particular that stood out to you.
It was a picture of just the two of you that had been taken less than four months ago, after their win over the Rangers. You had tagged along with the guys and their partners out to some small diner to celebrate their win, and you ended up next to Nico at the table. You later learned it was not a happy accident courtesy of Nicole. The two of you were talking and having a good time when you had tipped your chair too far backwards, sending you toppling over.
Nico, being the kind person he is, had tried to prevent you from falling, but instead, he went crashing down with you. The two of you laid on the floor, laughter echoing around you as you looked at him. You had no idea anyone had even taken a picture of the two of you, but it made something swell inside of your heart at the thought of Nico not only  knowing, but even caring enough to print it out.
“Let me show you the guest room,” Nina’s voice tears you out of your trance.
Both girls share knowing, teasing looks with each other, earning an eye roll from you as you follow Nina down the short hallway. She pushes open a door, her and Finn rolling the suitcases into the decently sized bedroom. You rush around Charlie, quickly moving to claim your side of the bed before she can do it.
The bedroom isn’t anything grand, but it looks extremely comfortable and cozy. The fluffy comforter is a light blue color with matching pillowcases that told you it likely came in a set. The walls in the room were sparsely decorated, but there was a full length mirror tucked in a corner with a small table next to it that was perfect for getting ready. There was also a TV that appeared to still have the plastic protective film over it sitting atop a nice wooden dresser.
The view outside the window made your jaw drop and your eyes slightly widen, the thought of never leaving returning again, but for a much better reason now. You had only seen very little of what the city had to offer, but you were already absolutely enchanted by it in its entirety. There was absolutely nothing that could compare.
“I’ll let you guys get settled and wait for Nico in the main room,” Nina softly spoke, “If you need help, just yell!”
“Thank you,” You gave her a small smile.
You and Charlie fall into a comfortable silence as you begin taking things out of your suitcases and bags. There was a small closet that you divided equally, and you also split the six drawer dresser between the two of you. You left your toiletries and other items on the exposed space of the dresser, not wanting to take up any bathroom space. You were in the middle of tucking your suitcase under the bed when you heard his voice.
“Well, come on,” Charlie playfully rolls her eyes as she watches you debate going out there.
She doesn’t wait for you as you briefly remain in your spot, your hands trembling with nerves, but you follow shortly after. Your heart is pounding in your chest as you round the corner, and you’re not entirely sure why. You knew you were going to be seeing him, so why were you so nervous?
“Hey Nico,” Charlie greets, letting him pull you into a side hug.
He greets her in return, but his eyes don’t leave your figure once he notices you hesitating near the hallway. The three of them notice the way Nico seems to have let them fade away, his focus now being you and only you. Nico’s arm is so loose around Charlie that she barely feels a difference when she steps away from them, her smirk matching that of Nina and Finn as Nico steps towards you.
Your eyes never stray away from his, everyone around you blending in with the background, as you watch him approach you with bated breath. Nico has the small smile on his face that he always does, but it makes your heart swell all the same. He instantly pulls you into his chest, his arms wrapping around your neck as your own wrap around his torso.
Nina shares a look with the two others as she shakes her head in amusement before she moves into the kitchen. Finn follows suit, Charlie shortly after, leaving you and Nico in the main room alone. Your head is pressed against his chest as you relish in the feeling of his arms encasing you. You could stay there forever if you had the opportunity.
“Missed you,” Nico bashfully mumbles, making your already red cheeks deepen in color.
“Missed you, too,” You whisper against him.
“I’m excited to show you my home,” He says as he pulls away, his hands lingering on your arms a tad longer than necessary, “I have a lot planned for us.”
The first couple of days Nico showed the two of you around Bern, taking you to all of his favorite spots, and spots he thought the two of you would enjoy. He let you guys have control of when you went, but he gave some guidance because certain places were best to see at certain times. He also gave you the option to say no every time he brought up something he wanted you guys to see, but you never did. Both of you wanted to see everything that you could.
The third day you were there, Nico mentioned that his parents wanted to host dinner for everyone, but he made it clear you didn’t have to go to that either. He reiterated that it was your trip and if you didn’t want to spend the little time you had with his family, he completely understood. You had given him a pointed look when you told him you would love to go and that it would never be anything except an honor to have them host you for dinner.
You had spent the majority of the day relaxing and wandering around the city with Charlie while Nico had gone off to do something work related for the morning. The two of you arrived  back at his apartment an hour before you were supposed to leave, and you took turns showering before getting yourselves ready for the dinner. You were sitting on the floor in front of the mirror doing your hair when you noticed a receipt on the floor poking out underneath the table.
Curiosity always gets the best of you, so you reach for the paper and pull it out to look at it. The words were in a language you didn’t really understand, but the date was something you could clearly read. It was dated only a couple of days before your arrival and it had four things listed on it, so you opened your phone to do your best google translating job.
Mirror. TV. Side table. Comforter set.
Nico had bought a mirror, the comforter set, the side table, and a goddamn TV for the room before you got there. You’re positive he would’ve done this for anyone who was visiting and staying in his house, but you couldn’t help but let the warm feeling in your chest spread throughout your body. Nico had a big heart and he would always go to great lengths to make those he cared about as comfortable as possible, and regret from all of the times you let your unnecessary feelings push him away flooded your body.
You didn’t have much time to dwell on that when you heard him walking through the door. Nico quickly popped his head in the room and to tell the two of you he was going to shower and change and then they would head to the train station. You and Charlie finished getting ready and waited for him in the living room, talking about how much fun you were having so far. It didn’t take Nico long to come out of his room freshly showered and changed, and he looked good.
He had changed into a pair of simple white shorts and he had on a black shirt that had an unrecognizable logo above where his heart was. It wasn’t anything over the top, but it still made you flush with warmth as you looked at him. Charlie elbowed you in the side when she noticed the way your stare lingered on him, a quiet snicker passing through her lips.
“Are you guys ready,” He asks, his cheeks tinged slightly pink. You assume it’s from how quickly he got ready, but Charlie knew better.
“We’ve been waiting on you,” You tease, playfully rolling your eyes.
“Yeah yeah,” He laughs as carefully brushes past you, “Let’s go then. Our train leaves soon.”
“Why are we taking a train again,” Charlie asks while the two of you follow Nico out of his apartment, letting him lock it behind you.
“It’s the quickest way to my home city. It’s an hour by train and two hours by car,” He says over his shoulder.
The three of you took the short trip to the train station, the car ride full of Charlie practicing her German with Nico who laughed at her attempts, but corrected her with grace. You yourself had recruited Nina’s help in learning and understanding the language, a little too embarrassed to ask for Nico’s help even though you knew he wouldn’t judge you.
When you arrived at the station, Nico made sure that everyone had everything before guiding the two of you inside. It was busier than you thought, but Nico said most things there were since it was the summer months. His eyes kept glancing behind him to make sure the two of you were behind him, and he made sure to give you a small smile each time you made eye contact with him. He could tell you were becoming overwhelmed at the amount of people, and he wanted to take your hand in his own to calm you down, but he knew he couldn’t do that.
When you finally made it onto the train, Nico guided you to your seats, gesturing for the two of you to sit before he did. You took the seat by the window, and Charlie gave you a subtle wink as she took the seat across from you instead of next to you. You carefully narrowed your eyes at her, but she looked away with a smug look on her face.
Nico took the seat next to you as the three of you fell into a comfortable silence. You kept your hands clasped in your lap, silently cursing Charlie but simultaneously thanking her at the same time. She was only doing what you were scared to do. The feeling of his thigh pressed against your own made your mind hazy as you kept your eyes trained on the platform outside of the window, watching as people rushed by.
Charlie, who couldn’t stay quiet longer than five minutes to save her life, started asking about what the rest of the week had in store even though he’d told you a hundred times. Nico indulged Charlie’s questions, though his eyes kept flitting to you as you stayed quiet in your seat. He wanted to ask you if you were okay, but he felt like it wasn’t the place for that. Though you were fine, except for the always impending realization that your feelings for the man next to you seemed to grow every day.
You started joining in on the conversation not too long after the train ride started. It was a mixture of topics ranging from what you were going to do now that you graduated to Charlie’s complicated relationship with Jack. Charlie had noticed the way both you and Nico had subconsciously shifted your bodies towards each other, but she chose to silently observe rather than embarrass you both like you did to her.
When the train reached the station in Nico’s hometown, you couldn’t help but feel slightly nervous. You felt as if you had to make a good impression on Nico’s parents and you were nervous that you were going to screw it up. What if your outfit was too much? Too little? What if you tried to speak to them in their native language and you embarrassed yourself?
Both Charlie and Nico could see the worry on your face, and she gave it a moment to see if he would step in. She watched him hesitate, but ultimately had backed down so she could step in. Charlie grasped your hand in her own, giving it a gentle squeeze as the two of you followed Nico out towards where Luca said he would be waiting.
As soon as the brothers saw each other, they were loudly greeting each other as they pulled the other into their embrace. You couldn’t help but notice the way his entire face lit up the moment he saw his brother. You weren’t used to him looking so truly carefree that it put a smile on your face, and it made you wish that he could feel that happiness all the time.
Nico lets go of his brother and introduces him to the two of you. Luca, much like his sister did, tugs you into his arms as he says, “So nice to meet you. Nico has told me a lot.”
Your face instantly heats up, as does Nico’s as you step out of Luca’s hold and keep your gaze on the ground. Charlie quietly mumbles about how much she loves this family before letting Luca hug her aswell. You are intensely aware of Nico’s proximity to you, but you’re too flustered to glance at him. Truthfully, he’s a little embarrassed himself that his brother exposed him so freely.
“Well, let’s get going,” Luca claps his hands together, “Mom is excited to see everyone.”
The ride to their home was fairly short, but Nico and Luca pointed out a few of their favorite spots from when they were children. It was a cute town, full of life and character that most towns in the United States could only dream of having. Each new thing you saw had you completely enamored, and furthered the idea that you could stay forever.
The four of you climbed out of the car and headed towards the house, and you had forced yourself to put on your best facade of confidence to mask the nerves that rippled from your chest. Charlie looked nervous herself, but the both of you knew it was for a far different reason than you were.
You admired the outside of his parent’s home as you walked up the path to the front door. It was nothing grand, but it was beautiful. They had a blooming garden tucked underneath what you assumed is the window in the main room. They had adorable outdoor trinkets perfectly littered in the yard, and they even had the most beautiful bird bath you’d ever seen.
Luca opened the front door, announcing your arrival as he gestured for you guys to follow him inside. You guys step into the entryway, toeing your shoes off in lieu of Luca and Nico. You let your eyes wander around you, taking in all the pictures that decorate the walls. A small smile makes its way on your face when you notice a picture of Nico when he was younger dressed as one of the Ninja Turtles for what you’re assuming was Halloween. Though with children, it could’ve been a random Tuesday afternoon.
Your heart slams into your rib cage as the voices of Nico’s parents fill your ears, shortly followed by the sound of footsteps approaching you. Nico watches as you fiddled with your fingers and chewed on your bottom lip, and he’s brought back to the moment he first saw you. You were sporting a similar worried look, and you were even wearing a similar dress. The one thing that hadn’t changed, though, was that Nico still thought you were the most beautiful girl in the world.
“Hallo, meine söhne,” Nico’s mother softly speaks as she wraps her arms around Luca, followed by Luca. (Hello, my sons)
“Hallo mama,” Nico greets, returning her affection, “This is Y/N and Charlie.”
“Oh, hello,” She beams, her accent thick and clasping her hands in front of her as she looks at you, “It’s so nice to finally meet you two! I’m Katja. Do you mind if I give you a hug? We are huggers in this family!’
“Of course,” You shyly smiled, stepping into her outstretched arms. Her embrace brought a sort of comfort to you that made you feel at ease and welcomed.
“Sie ist sehr schön, Nico. Warum ist sie nicht schon wieder deine Freundin,” She teases as she looks at her youngest child, though you can only understand a few words of what she said. (She's very beautiful, Nico. Why isn't she your girlfriend again?)
“Er ist eine muschi,” Luca laughed, earning a shove from his brother. (He’s a pussy)
Katja let go of you as she passed you an adoring smile, turning around to briefly scold her two boys before pulling Charlie into a hug. You let your eyes fall on Nico and you noticed the way his neck and cheeks had reddened, so whatever his mother and brother said must’ve been poking fun at him. You weren’t entirely sure what they had said, but you made out the words ‘beautiful’, ‘why’, and ‘she’.
“Where’s dad,” Nico asks, clearing his throat as he slightly steps towards you.
“In the kitchen. Nina and Finn said they will be here soon as well,” She smugly smiles at the way her son seems to drift towards you, whether he’s aware of it or not.
“Is there anything I can help with,” You speak up, swallowing the nervous lump in your throat.
“Absolutely not! You are a guest here. You kids go in the main room and chat. Dinner will be done soon,” She waved the four of you off, subtly raising her eyebrows at Nico as he passes by her.
Nico trails behind you as the four of you fall into the living room, and it’s almost like Charlie and Luca had made a silent agreement to force you and Nico by each other when they sat on the sofa and stretched their limbs out. You playfully roll your eyes at your friend as you sat on the smaller sofa, Nico shaking his head as he took the seat next to you. You ignore Charlie who keeps glancing at the empty recliner, instead focusing on Luca as he begins asking the two of you about your time so far.
Nina and Finn arrive not too long after, the middle child taking immediate notice to the way her brother has his arm loosely slung around the back of the cushion behind you and the way you seemed to lean into him. Luca had taken over the recliner so the couple could sit on the couch, Charlie greeting them before everyone fell back into conversation.
Rino, Nico’s father, comes in when the six of you are discussing potential plans for later in the evening and announces that dinner is ready. A trail of hungry stomachs file into the dining area, everyone taking seats at the table. Katja is on one end followed by Nico, you, and Charlie while the others are on the other side with Nina directly across from you.
“What do you girls do for a living,” Rino asks as they begin passing food around the table.
“We actually just graduated. I majored in digital marketing, and I landed an internship with Ralph Lauren,” You bashfully admitted at the slight bragging moment.
“Congratulations! Nico told us about that, I believe,” Katja nonchalantly added.
Your face flushed as you take the dish from Nico’s hands, his eyes full of mortified apology. Charlie comes to your rescue by going on about her own major, the attention shifting on to her instead of you. You weren’t necessarily embarrassed by the things they had been saying, it just caught you off guard. They were making it increasingly difficult to deny yourself the pleasure of knowing that he didn’t feel the same. It was causing a war within your brain and heart.
The rest of the dinner went by with minimal teasing comments, and you had a fantastic time. You felt slightly guilty when his family would stumble over their English, and you made a point to tell them they didn’t have to do that the entire time. Katja was quick to wave you off and say that it was no problem and they needed to practice. However, you and Charlie both said you needed to practice too, so you compromised. You would speak to them in German and they would speak to you in English. It did not go very well on your end.
You refused to let his parents clean up dinner without your help, telling them how disappointed your mother would be if she found out you didn’t help. Once they realize you’re not backing down they end up letting you help Nico with the dishes while Charlie and Nina are tasked with cleaning the table. Luca and Finn corral Katja and Rino into the living, telling them to relax before they pick up the leftover tasks.
“Sorry about my family,” Nico quietly speaks after a brief silence, taking the dishes you hand him to dry.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” You laugh, “I love them. They’re amazing.”
“Yeah, but I mean the- I’m sorry about their comments,” He shyly admits, clearing his throat as he intently analyzes the plate in his hands.
Your movements still, the warm water running over the dishes as you let your gaze settle on him. The light above the sink illuminates his face in a way that’s almost certainly angelic. His brown eyes seemingly deepen in color under the light, and it makes your knees weak even though he isn’t even looking at you. His Adam's apple bobs as your silence starts to worry him, but when he turns his head he sees you’re already looking at him.
He sees the ghost of a smile toying at your lips when he meets your eyes. Your hair has delicately fallen in your face, and he knows you’ve tried to push it back countless times only for it to happen again. He knew it bugged you, and before he could realize what he was doing, he had placed the plate on the counter and he was reaching for the loose strands.
When you saw Nico’s hand reaching for you, you breath caught in your throat and you swear your heart stopped beating. You kept his gaze, your eyes slightly wider in anticipation as his fingers grazed your cheek. He pushed the hair that had annoyingly fallen in your face behind your ear, your mouth dropping open when he kept his palm against your cheek.
The two of you stare at each other, nothing but the sound of the running water filling your ears. His thumbs moves in the smallest of movements against your skin that you almost don’t feel it, but the action still sends shivers down your spine. Your breathing stutters, and you swear that he starts to move closer to you, but you’re interrupted.
“Are you guys do–,” Luca’s voice cuts through the tension between you, causing the two of you to spring apart, “Oh, I’m very sorry. Carry on, but we do want to leave soon.”
Luca has a smug smile on his face, one that rivals the many you’ve seen on Jack. He hastily walks backwards out of the kitchen, but not before tossing his brother a wink. Humiliation fills your veins as you quietly go back to washing the last few dishes in silence, not trusting yourself to speak. However, Nico mistakes your silence as a sign that he had misread the situation and he puts all of his focus on getting done.
The two of you finish not too long after, filtering out into the main room where the others are waiting to leave. There was no subtlety in their glances, but you ignored it and walked to stand by Charlie before they began going over the plan again. The six of you were going to some bar that they love and meet up with some of Nico’s old friends before coming back to sleep.
After everyone was in agreement, you split into two cars and made your way to the bar. Charlie was texting you the entire drive, trying to get the details of what happened in the kitchen, but you told her it was nothing. She didn’t believe you, saying she’s been third wheeling the whole time and there’s just no way it was nothing. Though she dropped it when you asked her how Jack was doing, noting that he hadn’t been texting you nearly as often as her.
When you arrived at the destination, you filed out of the car and fell in line with Nina and Finn as they led the way inside. Nerves were pricking your skin the closer you got, suddenly feeling more out of place than you had the entire trip. You were no longer going to be surrounded by strangers, you were going to be surrounded by people from Nico’s life here. The thought alone made you nauseous.
Luca trailed behind you as you walked inside and through the sea of people, quite a few of them greeting Nico and his siblings with smiles and hello’s. You felt small when their gazes would fall on you and Charlie, your mind wandering to the most anxious thoughts of what they could be saying about you. With one glance at you, Nico could see through the thin veil of calmness you had draped over yourself.
As Nina and Finn settled at the table, Nico was leaning down to your ear as he spoke, “Do you want to go with me to get a drink?”
You quickly nodded, knowing the alcohol would help ease some of the nerves. You asked Charlie if she wanted anything, but she said she was fine for now and that she would get something later. You followed Nico up to the bar, making a few stops so he could talk to someone, sitting on the bar stool he gestured to.
Nico placed his hand on the exposed part of the seat, his arm pressed against your back as he leaned forward to order a round of drinks for everyone. You tried not to let the effects of his touch show, but anyone who knew you could see that it left you frazzled. He looks down at you, giving you a small smile to attempt and bring you some sort of comfort, and it works at first. Until you hear the sound of a delicate voice directly behind you.
“Nico! Ich wusste nicht, dass du in der Stadt bist.” (Nico! I didn't know you were in town.)
You glance over your shoulder, noticing the way Nico quickly retracts his arm to his side as he slightly turns towards her. A beautiful blonde girl stands there with a bright smile on her face, and it feels like an exceptionally harsh reminder that you were virtually nobody even more so here than you were in Jersey. You watch as they engage in a brief conversation you barely understood before she looks at you.
“Uh, Y/N, this is Julia. She’s an old friend,” Nico awkwardly introduces, not looking away from her as you turn towards them.
You try not to read too far into his body language, but he makes it difficult when he completely turns away from you. He angles himself so that he’s covering a quarter of your body, and it makes your body heat up in embarrassment. You cast your eyes to the ground, but what the girl in front of you says nearly knocks the wind out of you.
“Don’t be silly, Nico. I’m his ex-girlfriend.”

honestly have been feeling super angsty the past few days and needed to write a lil angst as a treat to myself lol. definitely not my best work but whatever
————
It’s no secret that after he lost Ada, your boyfriend was never quite the same. Aside from having nightmares for months, he also never quite got over her.
You’d be lying if you said a part of you wasn’t relieved the day he told you the news. She was always a point of contention in your relationship and you felt as though Leon would never be able to fully give himself to you as long as she was in the picture. You thought this would be a new leaf for you guys, a step in the right direction to further progress your relationship.
You’ve never been more wrong.
The first few months of the aftermath were rough. Leon drank more and came home less, and the times he came home made you wish he never did. You tried to take a deep breath and turn the other cheek to his drinking. He’s in pain, you’d remind yourself. He needs time.
It all came to a head one night after he hadn’t been home in almost a week—too busy out on a binge. You had been texting and calling him the whole week, desperately clinging onto him when you knew he didn’t belong to you. He never did.
Leon got home with the worst hangover of his life, hoping to just crash in bed and forget for a while. It had been so long since he slept—the nightmares that plagued him chasing away any hope of rest. But today he felt tired enough and the comfort of having you at home was more than enough to have the man dreaming of sleeping the whole way home.
The last thing he wanted to see was his bed covered in your clothes, a suitcase thrown open on your side of the bed and you desperately rummaging through the closet. “Honey?” He spoke softly, voice raspy from the constant burn of alcohol.
Your head snapped up, red rimmed eyes meeting his. “You’re back.”
“What’s going on? What’s—what’s all this?”
You almost felt bad for him. “I need some time away, Leon. I-I can’t do this anymore.”
“Do what?” He wrinkled his nose in confusion.
“This. The long nights and the drinking and you never coming home anymore. It’s killing me, Leon. And I,” your voice broke and you took a deep breath, “I deserve better.”
Leon felt his heart drop into his stomach, a weight forcing him onto his knees, He looked up at you with glistening eyes, “y/n, please don’t do this. Please. I-I love you, I don’t know who I am without you.”
You sighed, trying to swallow back the lump in your throat. It’s not fair, it’s never been fair. But it’s Leon, and you’ve always loved him, and no matter how angry you were in the moment, you knew he needed you.
“Alright,” you said quietly, placing the suitcase back in the closet.
Hope filled Leon’s eyes once more, like azure sparkling in sunlight. He wasted no time in striding over to you and wrapping his arms around you. He held you so tightly it hurt.
He whispered, “I promise things will get better from here. I promise, y/n.”
Leon doesn’t drink as much after that. He comes home at a normal time but even then it feels like your boyfriend is vacant. Gone. The closer he is to you, the further away he seems.
She’s always on his mind—and he makes that obvious to you.
Leon’s eyes practically glaze over the day he sees you wearing red. The garment clings to your body in such a perfect way, the scarlet complimenting all of your features perfectly.
You almost smile at the way his jaw drops. He’s never been a very reactive person so seeing him like this is enough to make you giggle. Of course, that’s before he speaks.
“Ada had a dress that was almost the exact same colour.”
Your heart sinks at the mention of her name. He’s grieving, you try to remind yourself. It's only natural she’s on his mind.
“Red was her favourite colour, she wore it all the time.”
You sigh, trying not to let your tensed muscles show. He misses her. It’s okay. But it’s not okay, and your stomach hurts and now you don’t want to go out at all.
“It’s kinda itchy,” you say quietly. “I’m gonna change.”
And you find yourself tossing the cloth into the bottom of your hamper, never to be worn again. In fact, you don’t feel like wearing red ever again.
The comparisons don’t stop after that day. Ada never seems to leave his mind, and any time he looks at you, there’s a look in his eyes that says he’s not really seeing you.
It feels like anything you do, anything you wear, any interest you have—she had it too.
You’re watching a movie on the couch, cuddled into his side. You have your arms wrapped around one of his, feeling the muscle beneath his skin.
You giggle and point at the tv, “I love him. He was my favorite character as a kid.”
You regret the words as soon as they leave your mouth and Leon turns to look at you. His blue eyes are clouded over with nostalgia.
“Ada always loved him, too. Only guy that ever made her flustered,” he shakes his head, smiling at the thought of her.
You can’t help but pull away from him and withdraw to your side of the couch. Leon looks at you in concern, head tilted to the side.
“Can—can you stop comparing me? I hate that,” your voice comes out exasperated and desperate.
Leon doesn’t say anything but a confused look takes over his face. His silence is almost worse than his comparisons—almost.
He’s at a loss for words. He doesn’t know what to say. That’s just how his mind works; he makes connections between things like that. A force of habit he gained from his strenuous line of work. He thought you understood that.
“Just,” you sigh, pushing yourself off of the couch, “nevermind.”
You trudge your way to the bedroom and throw yourself on the bed, closing your eyes and forcing the tears away. He promised things would get better. He promised.
Leon notices you withdrawing from him after that. Never in his life had he heard you sound so defeated and so angry. You’ve never been good at voicing your feelings, especially not to him, so he knew something was wrong the minute you spoke up.
“Honey?” He shuffles over to his side of the bed, the mattress dipping down under his weight.
You don’t answer, drawing your arms and knees closer to your chest. Leon sighs—he’s really messed up.
“I’m really sorry. I didn’t realize I was making you so upset.” He takes a deep breath, “I just miss her so much, and you know how my brain works and—”
You whimper, “it’s not fair, Leon. You’re not being fair to me here.”
“I-I know! But you knew how things were getting into this so maybe you shouldn’t have—”
“Shouldn’t have what, Leon?” You snap.
The blond stays awfully silent, staring at his clenched fists in his lap. He doesn’t know how to talk his way out of this—he doesn’t know how to keep you with him.
“I think I need some time away.”
Leon stares at you slack jawed. As soon as you stand up, he’s jumping to his feet too. He practically dives into your way, blocking your path.
You stare at him expectantly and try to avoid the burning in your eyes.
He looks at you dead seriously. “For every thing you have in common with her, there’s another thing that you don’t.”
His words are enough to get you to sit back down on the bed. The beating in his chest settles down as you do. You’re not leaving.
“She was really athletic for one thing, and a serial flirt. I mean, she was just so beautiful she could have any man wrapped around her finger. And she loved to fight and she loved gory movies and—why are you standing up?”
Leon stares at you in confusion. Did he say something wrong? He doesn’t understand.
Your mind races a million miles a second. It’s clear from the way he talks about her that he loved her in a way he could never love you. Even from the way he talked about her compared to you. Beautiful, athletic, charismatic. Everything you wished you were, everything he wishes you are.
“I need to get out of here, I-I feel like I can’t breathe.” You clutch your chest, shoving past him and grabbing your keys and your coat.
Leon watches you walk out the door, hopeless to do anything to stop you.
Leon waits for you to come home, sitting in a chair by the door for hours. The more time that passes, the more worried he gets that you’ll never come home. He taps his foot in anticipation—a habit he’d never had until now.
He can’t believe how caught up he got. He was so focused on the ghosts of his past that he forgot about his future. And sitting in this old chair, his ass hurting from sitting so long, he wishes he could go back in time and shut his own stupid mouth.
It’s nearly 1am when he hears your key in the door. Leon shoots to his feet, standing only a foot away from the opening door.
The minute you see him, you feel like crying again. You were hoping he would be asleep and you wouldn’t have to have this conversation now.
You close the door behind you and lock it, not even sparing a look at Leon as you make your way down the hall and to the bathroom. You only get halfway before Leon grabs your wrist and tugs you to face him.
He drops to both knees in front of you, looking up at you with desperate eyes. “Y/n.”
You shake your head and try to tug your hand away but Leon keeps a firm grip.
“I am so fucking sorry, y/n. I-I got so caught up in things that I didn’t even realize how I was treating you. I want to make it up to you.”
“You promised things would get better, Leon.” Your voice is shaking dangerously, “but all you’ve done is make me feel like her replacement. Like I’m the next best thing. And it has me second guessing everything. How do I know you even love me for me? How do I know you love me at all?”
Leon’s heart aches at your words. He knew he messed up but he didn’t realize the extent to how unloved he was making you feel.
“No, no, no. Y/n, no. Look at me.” His eyes are wet, and he looks so vulnerable sitting in front of you on his knees. “I love you. I love you. You and only you. You’re not her, and I know that. I never loved her in the same way I love you.”
Tears fall down your cheeks, splashing on the floor in front of you and Leon.
He keeps going. “You’re not a replacement. You’ve never been a replacement. You’re the best thing I could have asked for, and I’m sorry I haven’t been the best boyfriend lately.”
Leon slowly rises to his feet, slipping his hands into yours. “Let me make it up to you. Please, let me make it up to you.”
You sigh, biting your lip and trying to force the tears away. “Leon…”
“Let me make it up to you. Let me show you how much I love you, y/n. I will do anything to make you feel happy and safe again.”
And looking into his eyes, you know he means that.
“Alright, alright, just—” you wipe your eyes and offer a weak smile, “let’s sleep on it, okay?”
Leon nods and lets you tug him to the bedroom. He still has a lot of work to do, but that can wait until the morning. For now, he’s just glad he has you back.

Sad Conrad request. Surprising him at the beach house and being there through the hard moments with his mom
Grab your tissues, this is a sad one
Warnings: mention of cancer/death
my taglists are here + you can send requests here at any time
Tumblr media
‘’She won’t get better. It’s too late,’’ a crying Conrad said through the phone one late evening of May.
You sat up in your bed, giving him your best attention as your heart clenched.
These past few months, Susannah had been trying a new treatment for her cancer. She initially didn’t want to do it, but she would do anything for her boys. It’s been tough for her and the boys, physically and emotionally, but Susannah was a fighter. If she could beat cancer once, she could do it again, right?
Today, she had an appointment with her oncologist to see if the treatment was working. Conrad had been very stressed over it, calling you more often just to hear your reassuring words. You stayed optimistic for his sake, but you couldn’t lie to him. There were chances the treatment did not work.
‘’S-she’s gonna die.’’ His voice cracked at the last word, causing a tear to slip down your face.
That night, you almost booked a flight to Boston just to hold him in your arms.
*
When June came, you all went to Cousins’ beach for the last time. The last summer, her last summer.
On the day of the Fishers’ arrival, you sat on Conrad’s perfectly made bed and waited for him to walk through his door. It felt strange to be alone in their holiday house. Susannah had helped you plan the surprise for Conrad, mailing you a double of the keys a week before their arrival. He had been taking care of her so well during her treatment, she wanted to thank him in a special way.
You heard the door open downstairs, Conrad and Jeremiah’s voices soon filling the house. A know formed in your stomach, excited and nervous at the same time. Susannah’s voice mixed with the two, asking Conrad to take the bags upstairs.
The stairs creaked under his steps, listening as he took his mother’s bags to her room first, then his own. You held your breath as you saw the doorknob turn, soon revealing the boy you had missed so much with one bag over his shoulder and his suitcase in his other hand.
A mix of complete surprise and confusion spread on his face when he saw you sitting there on his bed.
‘’Hi.’’ You stood and a smile curled on Conrad’s lips for the first time in a while.
He dropped his bag and the suitcase’s handle and rushed over to you, wrapping his arms around you and lifting you from the ground. You wrapped your own arms around his neck as your legs did the same to his waist, finally in each other‘s hold.
‘’What are you doing here? You said you wouldn’t be here until Sunday.’’
You pulled back slightly, pushing that one piece of hair from his pretty eyes. You missed him and the soft smile he only kept for you. ‘’I drove here two days early to surprise you.’’
‘’Consider me surprised,’’ he said, closing the space between you and kissing you for the first time since spring break. Without breaking the kiss, Conrad took you to his bed, toppling on it in a mess of tangled limbs. ‘’How did you get in? Did you pick our backdoor?’’
‘’Susannah.’’
His eyebrows drew closer. ‘’My mom?’’
You nodded.
For a very short moment, Conrad was happy. And it was all because of you — with the help of Susannah.
*
As the summer went by, and Conrad was turning into a shell of his person. He was barely ever leaving the beach house or his mother’s side, wanting to spend as much time with her as possible before the end.
Since her last scan, the cancer had spread. She was getting more sick each day, becoming more tired and frail every time you saw her. Her blond hair was gone, replaced by a bandana that covered her bald head.
It was sad to watch.
‘’I hate to make this all about me, but who am I supposed to talk to? What am I supposed to do if my mom’s not there?’’ Conrad asked one night you were sitting on the back porch, his feet dipped in the pool water.
‘’You can talk to me. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.’’ You put your hand on his shoulders and he started to sob as you felt your own tears blurring your vision.
‘’She’s too young to die. She’ll never come to my college graduation or Jere’s high school graduation.’’
A few weeks later, you and Conrad were watching a movie in the living room, when Susannah came to get a glass of water. Conrad had fallen asleep against you, too tired to stay up late like he used to these days. You asked if she needed your help, but she smiled and said she was okay.
Before going back to her room, she came to the living room and put her hand on your arm. ‘’Thank you for being there for Connie. He doesn’t say, but he’s taking it the hardest. When I… He’s gonna take it the hardest.’’ She looked down at her son, a sad smile on her lips and tears welling in her eyes. ‘’Please take care of him.’’
*
When Susannah took her last breath, the weather was gloomy and dark outside, reflecting perfectly the feeling of the coming weeks.
You got the call at 3am and drove down to Boston, to the Fishers’ home. A red-eyed teary Jeremiah answered the door. You gave him a long hug, then headed to Conrad’s room. Laurel and her kids were there, all grieving the loss of a close friend — a non-blood-related family member.
As you entered Conrad's room, the somber atmosphere weighed heavily. The curtains were shut, plunging the room into semi-darkness, illuminated by the smallest crack of light coming from the top of the window. On the bed was Conrad, still in his clothes from last night, crying in silence and holding the old shark plushie his mother got him as a child. It had seen better days and was missing one eye, he hadn’t let go of it since coming home from the hospital.
His shoulders stiffened when he heard the door opening, about to rudely shoo out whoever had come to check on him, but relaxed when he saw you. Your hair was gathered in a loose ponytail, strands framing your face, and your shirt was an old one of Conrad’s, but none of that mattered to him. There was no one else he wanted to see beside his mom than you.
Lifting his head from the shark plushie, the steady flow of tears on his face. breaking your heart. His blue eyes, once vibrant, were now red and swollen from hours of crying, just like his brother’s.
You opened your mouth to speak, but words seemed inadequate in the face of such profound loss. So you said nothing.
You laid with him on the bed, wrapping your arms around his shoulder and pulling him into you like you had done these past months. The second his face met your chest, his sobs filled the room, finally allowing himself to let go now that you were there to catch him.
Rare were the times you had seen Conrad, but it was heartbreaking every time. You rubbed circles around his back and rested your cheek on his head, feeling his tears soak your shirt as he cried, silent tears falling from your own eyes.
You stayed like that for what felt like hours — just the two of you laying on his bed. Laurel didn’t bother checking on him, knowing he was well taken after with you. It was a weight off her shoulders, one less thing she needed to worry about.
As the night was starting to fall outside, you felt Conrad's breathing even out, telling you he had fallen asleep. You didn't know how long he had been up for, but he must've been exhausted — in every way.
You carefully reached out to grab the soft blanket from behind him, trying to not wake him, but Conrad tightened his grip on you as he sensed your movement, afraid of losing the anchor that kept him grounded.
‘’Don’t leave me too,’’ he mumbled, his voice so small and weak you didn't hear it.
You stayed still, frozen by his words. The vulnerability in his voice pierced your heart, and you realized that even in his sleep, his fear of abandonment lingered.
Gently, you brushed your fingers through his hair, softly whispering back to him in reassurance.  ‘’I'm not going anywhere. I promise. I'll be right here when you wake up.’’
You vowed to be there for him, to support him through the darkest hours of his journey, and you planned on keeping that promise you made to Susannah, even if it meant staying up all night holding him or skipping a few days of classes at college.
With great care, you shifted your position, sliding out from under him just enough to reach the blanket. As you draped it over both of you, he instinctively clung tighter to you, seeking the comfort of your presence.

Katie McCabe x reader request
-> Katie and you watch Aine play football for the first time
-> 2 requests in one - I hope you like it!
➳ Masterlist
•─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
‘I want another one’ somehow happened quite fast and not even a year later – Aine was getting ready to be a big sister. Telling her didn’t quite go as Katie or you had planned…
“Baby in Mummy’s tummy!”
A deadly silence had fallen over the kitchen as your wife and you just exchanged glances, trying to figure out who had snitched, both convinced that it was not you.
“What do ya mean lovie?” Katie tried to act unknowingly but apparently forgot that Aine had gotten the sass from her.
“You need to listen better!” You could barely hold yourself up with how much you were shaking with laughter and the Irishwoman’s shocked face. “Watch ya tone, Missy!”
By now the young girl had attached herself to your leg, clawing at you for ‘uppies’ as she had once called it. When you finally caved and sat her on the kitchen counter, she was quickly joined by Cooper who nuzzled his head into her side.
“You’re right doll. There is a baby in Mummy’s tummy – you will be a big sister.” Both of you were curious about how the seven-year-old would react to the news, not even caring at this point how she had figured it out.
“Like Mama and Auntie Lauryn!” Cooper by now had enough of the excited bouncing, opting to leave and look for a pretty spot in the sun where he could nap until his small human companion would inevitably find him and smother him in pets.
“That’s right bub! What do you think of that?” Back was the tense silence, as Katie grabbed your hand, giving it a loving squeeze – this was much more terrifying than you had thought. At least you didn’t need to actually tell Aine the news, she had taken that upon herself.
The small brunette looked around the open kitchen and living space, her pigtails swishing through the air as she scooted closer to the edge of the countertop, getting her face right next to yours. Katie’s hands were ready in case she fell, which she wouldn’t but Katie would always worry. “Pssshh! Don’t tell - this was my biggest wish for Santa! And it came true!”
Your wife couldn’t help but laugh, kissing her daughter's forehead before hiding her face in the very familiar brown hair. “Well, Santa came early then, huh?” It was in the middle of November, but ever since last Christmas, the seven-year-old had started a wish list. “He did! Cause I wanted it so badly – and Mummy did too!”
This had gone over much better than you could have imagined, and for now, you were just fine with her thinking that Santa was the way her little sibling would find its way to her. “You’re right Lovie. Mummy and Mama wished for it really badly too.”
---
---
It was no secret that Aine wanted to be just like her Mama, so her playing football should really not come as a surprise to either of you but it turns out that seeing her little girl get accepted into the Arsenal U8s team was something entirely different.
The little brunette had tried out for them, just like any other kid (no matter what haters would say), and got accepted with no problem. At their age group, it wasn’t considered as ‘Academy’ training, but rather ‘Pre academy’, with two training sessions a week and ten games across the whole season. They also weren’t separated into a girls' and boys' team just yet, so the Arsenal U8’s was a mixed team that would compete against other fixed games and also just boys teams.
With spring break coming up, Aine’s first match was also coming closer and closer. Katie had never felt so many emotions. Seeing you at six months pregnant and now well rounded while her little girl went to training after training, each time coming home with a bigger smile.
“Look at this! You’ll look just like Mama!”
Katie really couldn’t hold her tears anymore – with you holding her hand Aine admired herself in the mirror, wearing her game-day kit for the very first time.
But instead of Katie's 15 on her back, she had a 10 – for Kim Little, the best Midfielder there was and your daughter's biggest idol, much to her mama's disappointment.
“You look so grown up, Doll.” Seeing your wife this emotional, and Aine so happy gave you the rest. Now both of you were bawling your eyes out while the little brunette hopped around the house, before running back with Katie’s phone in her little hands.
“Take a picture, Mummy! For Auntie Kim!”
In the picture you were holding the grinning girl in your arms, as she proudly kissed your tummy, refusing to properly pose as she wanted to show Kim her little sibling as well.
This was the best day yet for the young gunner. After all, she was going to be a big sister, so she had to be a good example and play good football – just like the grown-ups.
“Do me a favor, my love?” Aine stood in between her mother's legs when she finally composed herself a little. “Hmmm?”
“Grow up a little slower, will ya?”
---
---
Turns out preparing for gameday, and actually experiencing one, were completely different experiences – especially when it was a double game day.
Aine was already hopping through the house like an excited bunny when Katie made her way down the stairs to make breakfast.
The Irishwoman had kissed your forehead, gently waking you up with a mumbled “Mornin Love. Thirty minutes.” Before going downstairs. God was her morning voice attractive.
It was seven in the morning. On a Sunday. Entirely too early for a six-month pregnant you who had put a giddy child to bed, that didn’t want to sleep. But your wife was gracious, giving you thirty more minutes to wake up fully before helping her daughter bring breakfast in.
You could get used to this – a delicious meal in bed with your wife and daughter, although a little later would have been nice.
“Mummy, when do we have to go?” This was the third time Aine had asked in the last ten minutes, and every time either Katie or you had given her the answer but the small brunette couldn’t help herself – she was just too excited.
This was the fastest you had ever seen the seven-year-old get washed and dressed after breakfast. She was so fast, that she had gotten impatient with your much slower speed. Aine took it upon herself to get you dressed while you brushed your teeth while sat on the closed toilet.
“Foot please Mama!” You did as asked, picking up your legs off the floor so that your daughter could slip socks over your feet.
And with a quick zoom, she was in your bedroom again, just to return with wide, comfortable pants that you just knew that your wife chose. Instead of giving them to you, she threw them on the floor. “Step in please!” Good thing you were already wearing underwear, huh? As good as she could, Aine helped you get them up and over your bump, but not before giving it a kiss and whispering a small “Hi!”
It went like that until you were fully dressed and she pulled you to the hallway, where your wife helped you into shoes as you could barely see the ground anymore.
“Is this okay? I thought maybe I should have given her longer socks because it will be cold – but then we have a blanket so maybe you will get too hot an-“ Katie’s rambling was cut short with a passionate kiss. “It’s perfect – Thank you, my Love.”
“Let go, let go, let's go!”
---
---
“Now you know how it feels to watch you play!” Katie was tense as she leaned against one of the beams that surrounded the football pitch.
The drive here had gone by fairly quickly as Aine made sure to tell your wife all about her teammates. You had met most of them already during practice or while picking her back up again – the small brunette would always chat with anybody who would listen until you walked over to take her home. Her chattiness definitely came from your wife – but right now there was nothing in the world that could make the Irishwoman relax.
“She’s tougher than she looks, my Love.” By now you had taken the footballer's hand, rubbing calming circles on it in a desperate attempt to calm her down.
Aine was one of four girls on the pitch – two on her team and two on the other. The rest were all boys. And while you knew that she was feistier than she looked, much more like her mother than you, the size difference between her and some of the boys was terrifying.
“Oi Ref!” Your wife’s hand shot up when an opposing boy had clumsily taken your daughter down with him in an attempt to stop her from getting even closer to their goal. “That’s a free kick! Ref!” The guy refereeing the game didn’t see the incident at first, angering Katie even further – but when he did look over the first thing that he saw, was a tiny brunette shoving a boy at least a head taller off of her.
The shrill sound of a whistle agreed with Katie, and the Arsenal U8s were indeed allowed a freekick in a very good position for them, as your daughter had been very central on the field and closing in on goal.
Katie’s grip on your hand tightened with stress – she knew what she would do in this situation. But did her seven-year-old know it as well? They spent countless dinner conversations talking about football and plenty of different techniques, with impressive input from Aine, so she had to know what she was doing, right?
 And she did.
The brunette passed to one of her free strikers and started running through the masses. She was small, fast, and agile – and before the opposing team could blink, her striker passed back to her when she was standing directly in front of the goal.
“Yes! That’s my daughter!”
Katie couldn’t contain herself any longer – the ball had hit the back of the net with a surprising amount of force, their keeper jumping in the other direction, making this a perfect goal. Her first goal.
After high-fiving every player on her team your daughter sprinted over to where you stood and gave a quick kiss to your belly just like she had done earlier in the morning. “For you, baby!”
The match ended shortly after Arsenal's third goal, assisted by your daughter who once again looked at you and Katie, to see if you watched her – which you did.
One of the trainers had brought a box of mixed ice-creams and even though the young brunette wasn’t supposed to, she took three of them and quickly made her way to you and your wife.
“Don’t you wanna eat with your friends baby?”
“Nuh-uh. You are my best friends.”
Well, there go your hormones again as you couldn’t hold your tears at bay any longer. “I love you so much Aine. And you played so well.” The seven-year-old kissed your forehead much like Katie did, before ensuring that someone had recorded the game so that she could show Auntie Kim her goal.
“That was my first win for baby sister, Mommy! Now Mama needs to win tonight so it’s a perfect day!”
“Geez no pressure huh?” Everything was packed up now and the pitch was getting emptier by the minute as multiple parents made their way to their cars at the same time you did.
“Aine I have a question.”
“Yeah?”
“What if it’s a baby brother instead?”
She was now buckled into her car seat, with Katie still at her door trying to work out something that has been bothering her ever since your daughter had announced that you were pregnant again. Neither you nor Katie have been told the gender of the baby, yet the youngest family member seemed sure that it would be a girl again.
“It’s not. It’s a baby sister.”
“How do you know that?”
You tried to watch their interaction as well as you could from your passenger seat. Your Wife’s eyes were wide with curiosity, something that you saw in Aine nearly every day.
“I just do.”
“You terrify me, Kid.”

Pt 2: Floating Above Those Dark Skies :)
Hyun-su!
You woke up with a start, sweat slickening your skin and causing the slightly ripped t-shirt to stick to your back. It was designed with a band of which you'd never heard the likes of before the apocalypse started. Your breathing was quickened intensely and you wiped your hands over your face, pushing your palms into your eye sockets as you fruitlessly tried to calm your heart rate. It took several minutes of doing every method you knew to stop a panic attack before you were finally able to take a deep breath without it stuttering in your lungs. You swung your legs over the edge of the hammock you had designated as your bed since you first arrived at the stadium all those months ago. To know that you hadn’t seen the boy you once called home in over half a year was a hard pill to swallow. You hated yourself for letting him go.
Hated that you didn’t try harder to follow after him.
Hated that you let the group force you onto the truck with them and head to the safety camp.
It was a never-ending cycle of self-loathing since you’d arrived at the stadium. When you’d found the secret exit leading out of the stuffy concrete walls you were trapped in, you found yourself leaving whenever possible. You couldn't handle the pitiful stares of your fellow Green Home survivors and the eyes of the citizens in the stadium who disliked the woman that protected the “murderer” of the chief’s husband. Although Eun-yoo and you did not really have any sort of relationship in terms of friendship, you had an unspoken agreement to protect and stand up for each other. If not each other, you had no one. The people you each had viewed as the closest to you of anyone had gone missing or even passed on to the next life. You both refused to admit that last thought out loud, though.
Every morning, you would wake up and attend the morning roll call before getting dressed and leaving for the day until you returned just in time for the evening roll call.
Today would be no different.
You dropped your bare feet onto the frigid concrete floor and walked towards the bathroom, suppressing a shiver. The entrance to the bathroom had been taken off after an incident inside of the stadium. It involved none other than yourself and the elder brother of one of the boys who bullied Yeong-su when the two of you got into a fight. You can remember the exact words he had spoken to you after you talked to him about the boy’s behavior.
“The little shit deserves it. Being the little brother of a murderer and the devil’s advocate,” he’d said, referring to Eun-yu and yourself. “I hope he ends up becoming a monster. I even hope I’ll be the one to have the honor of killing him.”
You remember punching him square in the nose as soon as the words left his mouth. He’d flown backward and slammed into the bathroom door, successfully knocking it off the hinges and breaking the flimsy wood in half. You were positively seething at the absolute audacity the man had. Not being satisfied with how he’d fallen, you jumped on top of him and started pounding your fist into his face. You hit him over and over again, undeterred by the few hits he managed to get in, until you were pulled off of him. You started thrashing around violently when you felt hands wrapping around you to pull you off of him until you realized it was Park Chan-young, the young soldier who had been an alibi and friend to you and the rest of the Green Home survivors since you’d first gotten on that truck. A small crowd had gathered around after hearing the commotion and yells coming from the two of you before they all parted to allow Chief Ji in. When she saw you, her confused stare deepened to a glare but she ignored you in favor of transporting the brother you had just fought to the medical room. That was a hell of a day.
The inside of the bathroom was a regular locker room. Not surprising considering it was originally used for the players of the baseball team. The only difference was one of the walls was poorly rebuilt with rocks and bricks by Chief Ji and some of the stadium's residents after it was impacted by the missiles.
Before you had started heading over to the bathroom, you had grabbed your small compact bag of hygiene supplies and brought it with you. Although toothpaste was hard to come by and you had to share the rations the soldiers found with your neighbors, you were able to find some on one of your days out. You brushed your teeth dry, not wanting to use any of the limited water on something like brushing your teeth. This had become something you were used to.
Finally returning to your sleeping space, you didn’t bother changing out of the clothes you slept in and just decided to continue wearing them. The outfit was comfortable yet simple: a pair of oversized off-white sweatpants you had to manually make a drawstring for using a shoestring, and a short-sleeved dark blue shirt. Your shoes were the same ones you wore the first day this monsterization started. They were originally a pristine white you had tried your hardest not to taint, but now they were stained beyond repair from your adventures. You consider yourself lucky you had only bought them a week before the outbreak. They held up well throughout the year you’d spent with them as your sole pair of shoes.
The morning announcement calling for roll call sounded through the silent air of the little enclosed unit you were lucky enough to be given.
Although luck may not have been the true cause. So many people were reluctant to be near you when they slept and complained enough times to the chief that she eventually just set you apart from the rest. Although it was lonely at times, you were thankful for the shred of privacy you had been granted.
Once your shoes had been put on along with your sweater, you calmly walked down the hall toward the place where your assigned group met for roll calls. You arrived just in time to see Yeong-su slap away Jin-ok’s hand when she tried to pull him back from a soldier who was grinning meanly at him. You could see the built-up tears in the boy’s eyes that he desperately was trying to push away and rushed forward. Seeing the reasoning behind his tears, despite the consequences that you knew would ensue, you roughly pushed against the soldier’s back which sent him tumbling forward and his face met the ground floor with a sickening sound. You risked a glance to look back at Yeong-su and Jin-ok. Yeong-su’s arm was bleeding rapidly, seeming obvious that the soldier who cut him too deeply hit an artery. Hopefully, it wasn't a major one. The boy’s lip was quivering as he held back his tears. You could see all the emotions in his eyes: anger, frustration, helplessness, but mainly relief. Relief from you coming in to defend him. You quickly sent a look to Jin-ok and she immediately knew what you meant. She gently took Yeong-su’s hand and this time he didn’t resist as she led them both away from the scene and to their living quarters.
You barely had time to let out a relieved smile before a fist was sent flying into your left cheek, sending your head snapping to the right and you falling back, only barely and painfully catching yourself with your elbows. You looked up at your assailant to see the officer who was tormenting Yeong-su standing above you. His nose was bleeding heavily and if you didn’t know any better, you would’ve thought he was beginning the transition period to a monster. He wiped at his nose to no avail and sent you a heavy glare. He leaned down and roughly grabbed your arm, hauling you to your feet and pulling out his knife. You held eye contact even when the blade roughly slashed across your forearm, right over an already existing cut. You praised yourself internally on how you kept your face entirely neutral and how the soldier looked angry and disappointed at your lack of reaction.
You gave him a slight smirk as you held up your bleeding arm for his view, the blood gushing down and covering your bruised elbow. “Happy?” You questioned tauntingly and your smirk grew as you saw the man seething. Despite his intimidating height, you couldn’t help but think he looked like a cartoon character with the way you were sure steam would be bursting out of his ears at any second. When he made no further move to continue the fight, you swiftly turned around and walked out of the room, smiling when you heard him yell in frustration and throw something to the floor. The knife, you presumed.
You didn’t bother visiting the doctor to help you treat your wounds as you wrapped a strap of clothing around it and called it a day. Any respect you had for him instantly flew down the drain when you caught him drinking the rubbing alcohol meant for treating wounds and acting immaturely all the time. You walked in the direction of the exit, making sure to not be spotted by any soldiers as you did. When you finally got there and pushed the door open, you let out a breath of relief. The moment you stepped out the door and into the clean air of the outdoors, you felt yourself relax a little more than before. You found it odd how you felt more relaxed outside of the safe haven the stadium provided but you couldn’t help yourself. In the outdoors, you felt free. You could think without hindrance and allow yourself to feel an emotion that wasn't complete and utter despair.
The ground crunched below your feet as you walked across the gravel towards the green grass fields. You had no objective or destination in mind for today, you just wanted to escape the oppressive hands of your 'superiors.'
Walking on light feet, still making sure to keep your head focused on the area around you in case a monster appeared, you found yourself standing in front of a building. There was nothing special about this building. Half of it wasn't even attached as it lay broken in shambles around the structure. The ladder leading to the roof was rusted and had some of the metal bars sticking out awkwardly. The building in total was relatively normal and in good shape compared to those around it.
The only special thing about this building was the memories that it spurred within your head.
You climbed up the ladder, tears blocking your vision as they collected on your waterline despite your deepest efforts. You lost everyone. You lost Hyun-su; the boy you called home; the boy you called your soulmate; the boy you loved more than anyone or anything else. You lost Ji-su, the girl you decided you could call your best friend after spending so much time with her on the first floor of Green Home for those days at the beginning of this mess. You even lost Su-yeong, the little girl you’d grown so protective over… gone without a second thought. You never truly had Eun-yu so it wouldn’t hurt as much whether or not she had died. The only person you truly felt you had left was Yeong-su. You hated yourself for doing this to him but only having him wasn’t enough to stay anymore.
You felt like you were drowning. You were unable to handle the constant feeling of your emotions overpowering you. You’d heard so many times that it got easier as time went on but you never thought you would be able to overcome this. Although it might have been fitting to end your life by drowning, you just wanted a quick and painless death.
Falling solved that for you.
When you finally climbed the ladder to the roof of the building, you couldn’t help the sobs that wracked your body. You hopped up onto the edge of the building and looked up. The sky seemed to perfectly oppose how you were feeling. Soft, puffy white clouds were fluttering through the atmosphere and forming different shapes you could just barely make out. The tears slipped down the side of your face as you tried to gain some sort of peace before you followed through with your decision.
The wind was a gentle, cool breeze across your damp cheeks as you stood and glanced across the beautiful terrain below you. The grass had just barely begun to grow out of its perfect and well-maintained state, but it was still a wonderful sight to see. There were flower gardens surrounding the tall building, some crushed brutally by the falling of the walls but most were left perfectly untouched and thriving in the new world. The sight made your body calm down, the tears cascading waterfalls of sorrow down your cheeks slowly coming to a stop. You’ve heard of the acceptance of death people have when they know they’re about to die. You’d never thought you would have to face that kind of acceptance, never really thought the way you’d die would be because the world had been cruel and gave you too much pain for you to handle. You never thought that yet there you were.
There you were, standing on the edge of the tallest building you could find, one foot raised and hovering over the edge and you giving one last smile to the world before having your other foot join it.
The wind screamed in your ears and you swear you could hear voices within it. Voices calling your name. Voices that sounded too similar to one you’d lost. You let your eyes fall shut as memories flashed through your mind. Memories of reading to Su-yeong and Yeong-su; memories of playing the guitar and singing with Ji-su, laughter interrupting each word because you couldn’t take yourselves seriously; memories of Hyun-su.
Memories of shaking his hand when you first met him after he moved in across the hall from you in Green Home.
Memories of him coming to you crying for the first time and confessing how he couldn’t stand being alive anymore.
Memories of losing yourself in his eyes when he smiled at you.
Memories of his touch against your cheeks when he leaned in to leave a kiss against your forehead.
Memories of him.
A single tear drop fell from your eye and you smiled at the thought of meeting him again, whether that be in your next life or the one that comes after death. There was no doubt in your mind that he was gone, and that thought alone was more than half of your reasons for wanting to end it all.
Just as you were sure you were about to hit the bottom, a strong yet lean arm wrapped around your body and gently set you down on the ground before retreating just as quickly as it had appeared. You shot your eyes open only to be left with the blue sky above you and the intense wind that breezed over your body as whatever it was that saved you disappeared. For a few moments, you couldn’t breathe. You couldn’t move, couldn’t blink, couldn’t think, couldn’t do anything except stare in perplexment at the sky. As you sat up, you still couldn’t think straight and allowed your body to work on autopilot as it walked you home.
It took a full week until you were finally able to come to terms with the fact that either you had imagined the whole thing or something - someone - had saved you.
A month after your first attempt, you tried again. You couldn’t handle the stares of disdain and hatred towards you after you had defended Eun-yu as others criticized her about her apparent murder of Chief Ji’s husband. Yet, just like the last time, you were saved miraculously last minute by that same strange force.
You tried a dozen more times, all ending with the same result. It was so frustrating and you could barely handle the pain knowing you couldn’t even control your death, let alone your life.
The tears streamed down your face violently as you knelt and smacked your fists angrily against the wet, coarse dirt of where you were, once again, gently placed down after another failed attempt to end your life. The shredded noose hung limp around your neck and you ripped it off aggressively. You let out an agonizing scream from the deepest part of your lungs and it ended with more sobs as you let yourself fall onto your side with your knees pulled into your chest. Your loud sobs slowly quieted down but the tears never stopped falling. You stood up from the wet ground, your hair and clothes both stained by the mud below. Water rained down from the heavens, soaking your shirt and making it cling to your chest. Your tears blurred with the raindrops that splashed against you and slowly made their way down your face, disappearing down your neck and into the collar of your shirt.
“Why are you doing this?” You yelled into the open air, receiving no answer. “Why? Why do you keep doing this? Why won’t you just let me die?” You choked on a sob at that last question and yet you still received no answer. Defeated, you decided to retreat back to the stadium and get cleaned up. When you returned, Jin-ok was the first to notice the bruising around your neck and your tired, puffy eyes. When she asked, you played dumb but you could tell she saw right through you. Luckily, she left it alone.
You ended up curled up in your hammock for hours as you sobbed your heart out.
Although the stadium might have been a better place to follow through with your plan, you refused to put your few remaining friends - if you could even really call them that - through that. Put them through the pain of seeing your dead body and knowing they might have been able to stop it. Even though you would be dead by then, you wouldn’t be able to live with yourself. The only way you would allow yourself to follow through was outside of the stadium.
But a certain someone, or something, wouldn’t allow that to happen.
That was the last time you tried to end your life.
You’d had many dangerous encounters since then but every time they would be cleared out by your guardian angel before you could even really call them a threat. It got to the point where you felt more safe outside the stadium compared to within its concrete walls.
Sighing, you averted your eyes from the building and walked around it, focusing instead on the plants that were just starting to bloom in the early spring. The breeze was a welcome chill that rose goosebumps along your arms. As you continued to walk, your mind blank and your feet destinationless as you wandered, you came across a large pool of water.
And a girl.
She was young, and couldn’t have been more than 5 years old. It was such a shock to see her there, especially all by herself, that you didn’t realize she was sinking until it was almost too late. Without a second of hesitation, you jumped right into the lake and swam as fast as you could towards her. Grabbing a hold of her hand, you pulled her along as you swam back up to the surface. You dragged her towards the edge of the earth where the stable ground met the water and laid her down. Lowering your head to her mouth, you tried to listen to her breathing but instead, you got a headbutt to the ear. She shot up and started coughing up water. You ignored how your ear stung at that moment and instead rubbed along her back while she breathed heavily.
“Are you okay?” You asked her and she suddenly snapped her head towards you, like she didn’t recognize your presence until you spoke.
Slowly, she nodded. “Yes,” she hesitated before quietly asking, “Did you save me?”
You smiled at her shy mannerisms as she played with the hem of her wet and dirtied dress. “Yeah, I did.”
She looked up at you, almost surprised with your confession, and gave you a shy smile back. “Thank you,” she whispered before averting her eyes again.
You couldn’t stop the smile growing even brighter on your face at her adorableness. You looked around, seeing nobody else in sight. Your eyebrows furrowed as you began to worry about who she was and why nobody was taking care of her. “Are you alo-”
Just as you started to speak, a wet and slimy tentacle-like appendage wrapped itself around your torso and yanked you back into the lake. You thrashed around but couldn’t unravel yourself from the monster’s grip. You saw your knife float away and sink further down the dark abyss that was the bottom of the lake. With it, the last of your newfound hope to live followed. Just as you lost the last of the reserved air in your lungs, a sudden figure dove into the water and wrapped its arm around you. Just before your eyes fluttered shut, you swore you saw the blurry face of the same boy who haunted your dreams. The boy who haunted your nightmares.
The same boy who haunted your mind as you stuttered between the line separating life and death after surrendering to the lack of oxygen.
“Hyun-su!”
You screamed as you saw the military take him away. You lay helplessly against the side of the crumbling Green Home building as the pain of moving around too much from your wounds caused you to be dead-weight in your spot.
He let out a scream of agony that ended with your name and you felt your heart shatter. He was surrounded by multiple people; doctors, scientists, and soldiers alike. Each person’s face was surrounded by a strange darkness. The only thing you could make out of their faces were their evil, wide smiles, and their eyes tainted a demonic red. The sight made you feel even more helpless and despair-ridden than before.
You could do nothing but watch as the love of your life was taken from you without a second thought.
Hyun-su gathered you in his human-form arm while the other, extended in his monstrous form, swung back and forth through the water to slice at the monstrous being that dared to harm you. He didn’t waste much more time under the water to fight the beast as he noticed your eyes had slipped shut and you weren’t releasing any more air bubbles. He surged upwards, his wing doing most of the work as he darted through the surface of the water and onto the solid ground near the same little girl you had saved before.
Lying you down on the ground gently, he lowered his head to your mouth to hear if you were breathing, cursing quietly when he realized you weren’t. It was at times like these that he thanked whatever deity existed that he allowed himself to be persuaded by his parents to be a lifeguard for a summer. That way, he learned and was certified in CPR.
Plugging your nose, he administered two breaths into your mouth before pressing his - now both fully human - hands to your chest. Just as he prepared for the first chest compression, you suddenly started coughing and turned onto your side as you continued to cough up the water from your lungs. He was so thankful there wasn’t enough water in your lungs that he would’ve had to break your ribs giving you CPR.
But he would choose broken ribs over a body that wasn’t breathing any day.
After coughing your lungs dry, you fell onto your back with your eyes closed as you took many deep breaths. Suddenly, you remembered the face you clearly remember saving you and shot up into a sitting position, your eyes wide and surprised. Your gaze immediately fell upon him.
Hyun-su.
You held your breath as your eyes met and you stared at each other for a few moments. Your hand hesitantly raised to reach out for him. His gaze didn’t stray from your own as you brought your hand to his face, a mix between a sigh and a sob leaving your throat as you felt the soft skin of his cheek touch your fingertips. He was wet and cold, but he was alive. A smile grew onto your face but it dropped just as Hyun-su’s began to form. You yanked your hand away as if his skin suddenly burned you, and it might as well have. You could see the hurt expression taking over his face but the feeling of the anger, betrayal, and grief flooding through your veins overpowered any feelings of remorse you might have felt. Taking a quick moment to look around for the child you saved, you let out a small sigh of relief when you saw her innocently watching the interaction between you and Hyun-su, breathing normally and sitting safe and sound on the grass.
“Take care of her for me, will you?” You asked him coldly, not waiting for an answer as you stood up and started speed walking in the opposite direction.
“No, wa- wait!” He scrambled to stand up, calling after you as you ignored his advances. “Stop!” He finally caught up to you and wrapped his hand around your bicep gently, turning you around to face him.
“What? What the fuck is so important that you finally feel the need to talk to me?” You let out a sob of a laugh as you ripped your arm away from him. You could slowly see the realization of why you were acting so angry and upset dawn on his face as guilt settled into his eyes. “You’ve gone this entire time being just fine as you save my life just to leave me there, alone, time and time again. So please - please - explain to me what is now so important you feel the need to reveal yourself to me.”
You looked at him expectantly as his mouth opened and closed, looking for an answer. He seemed to find it as he finally said, “I just… I really thought you died this time. I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
You looked at him, frustrated, for a moment before harshly scrubbing your palms over your eyes which were tearing up against your will. “So… what, after all the times you saved me, now you want to check on my safety?” Taking a deep breath, you forced your face to look calm, masking your anger for his sake so you could get out of this situation with as little hindrance as possible. You dropped your hands to your sides, your tears smeared across your face leaving it in a shiny glow. “Well thank you, Hyun-su, for your consideration,” you spoke the last word with bitterness lacing your tone that you could tell he caught as he winced softly. “But I am fine.”
You turned around, fully intent on heading back to the stadium when his hand wrapped around your bicep again. “What?” You asked angrily and turned around only to be pulled into a tight hug. You didn’t waste time in fighting his grip but he was relentless. “Let me go!” You screamed at him, although it was muffled by his shirt. “You’re such an asshole! I fucking mourned for you! I built a fucking memorial and brought a flower every single week without fail and yet you were never fucking dead! Why did you keep letting me think you were dead?” You were now pounding your fists into his chest, no longer resisting his embrace but expressing the built-up anger, sadness, grief, and self-loathing you felt every single day. It all stemmed solely from the way you hated yourself for not trying harder to save him. Not trying harder to resist Eun-hyuk when he told you and Eun-yu he would bring him back. “Was it you? Was it you every time I was stopped? Every time I was in danger, it was you who saved me, wasn’t it? What gave you the fucking right?” The crying started again. In turn, your hits became less and less powerful with each strike along with your screams gradually quieting. “Why did you have to leave me?” You sobbed out and let your head fall onto his chest as he buried his face in your hair. Your hands clutched onto his t-shirt as if trying to anchor him to you, scared that if you let him go, he would disappear again. Your knees gave out, exhausted by the emotional turmoil washing over you from the last five minutes. And so soon after death caressed you on the cheek too. Hyun-su caught you and slowly lowered the two of you to the ground, never once breaking the embrace.
You sat in silence, only broken by the sound of your sobs as they slowly subsided. When you settled down, you spoke once more.
“Did you know I was in love with you?” You didn’t feel any physical reaction from him that would express what he was feeling in that moment so you continued. “I never stopped. Loving you, I mean. I don’t think I ever will, but god, I hate you so much right now.”
There were a few silent beats where the only sound you could hear was the sound of his heartbeat against your ear until he spoke.
“I didn’t think I would be able to handle seeing you again and find you with this exact reaction. By the time I left the military’s grasp, I tried to find you but then I saw you on that ledge.”
It surprised you and calmed your nerves all the same.
“I knew I was just being a coward but I thought too much time had passed for me to just show up. Today was just a bit different.” He leaned back a bit to look at you and you did the same. He gave a small smile when he saw you again, with your wet eyes and glistening cheeks you looked wonderful. Even after sobbing your heart out, you were still the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen. “My love, I’ve loved you since the first moment I saw you, and I never stopped either,” he leaned in slowly so your foreheads rested against each other and your noses brushed. “And if you need time to stop hating me, I’ll wait as long as it takes.”
You looked into his radiating brown eyes as the last tear slipped from your own before bringing a hand up to cup his cheek once again. You let out a small laugh which he returned with an adoring smile. Leaning in, you pressed your lips against his in a soft, unhurried kiss. He slid a hand up from where it was pulling you into his embrace to rest against the back of your neck as he held you against him. When the both of you were smiling too much to continue the kiss, you leaned back just enough to stare into each other’s eyes. The adoration and love you had for each other would be clear for anyone to see from the way you gazed at each other.
You suddenly pushed forward and wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him close and hugging him once more. He sat still for a moment as he processed what you did only to wrap his arms around your waist. He hugged you just as tight and with just as much desperation as you did.
“God, I missed you so much,” you whispered into his ear and he sighed shakily into the spot where his face was buried in your neck.
“I missed you too, so much. I’m so sorry for not coming back sooner.”
“Well, you’re here now, and that’s all that matters to me,” you reassured him and he physically relaxed, his shoulders untensing and him falling further into your embrace.
The sound of the soft pattering of footsteps interrupted the moment you two were sharing. However, it was entirely welcome when you saw the little girl you had saved before standing beside you. You pulled away from Hyun-su, but not too far as he grabbed onto one of your hands. You smiled at him slightly, he was obviously just as starved of your touch as you were his.
“Hi there,” you told her gently when you turned back to her, not wanting to scare her in any way. “What’s your name?”
She looked down shyly, not answering until Hyun-su reached out to her with his hand. “It’s okay, she’s a good one,” he reassured her as he brushed some stray wet strands of her pin-straight black hair out of her face when her small hands were unable to. He took her hand and gently pulled her closer to the two of you. It made you smile as you saw them interact. The caring and soft way Hyun-su acted with her reminded you so much of a father interacting with his daughter.
It just made you love him even more.
He gave her one more nod of reassurance before she timidly introduced herself.
“M-my name is Ah-yi,” she stuttered out and you silently cooed at her adorable little shy smile. “Thank you for saving me, Miss.”
“Of course, Ah-yi, you are very welcome,” you gave her your own smile and some of her shyness seemed to fade away. You then gave her your name and she visibly brightened up.
“You’re the princess!” You gave her a confused smile with a small laugh as she then began to explain. “Oppa’s told me stories about you! How you’re the princess of the big green castle and how he was a knight in shining armor who was saved by you, the warrior princess!” She talked animatedly with her hands swinging around wildly and her chest puffing out at the end to make her seem stronger. Your lips formed a big smile as you looked over at Hyun-su to see him lightly glaring at Ah-yi with a big blush coating his cheeks.
“Ah, so you’ve told stories about me, have you?” You teased him and he looked at you before rolling his eyes.
“Shut up,” he mumbled and you yelped as he yanked on your hand, sending you falling onto his chest with a loud laugh.
You talked a bit more with Ah-yi, somehow ending with her laying her head in your lap as you leaned against Hyun-su with your back to his chest. The three of you watched the clouds, pointing out any shapes you could find and making up stories that Ah-yi seemed to love. Every time you looked over at Hyun-su, you could see all of his attention focused on you and how you interacted with the small child.
Time seemed to fly as eventually, the sun started to fade into the distance, only leaving splotches of light shining through the leaves of the tall trees surrounding you. All three of you stood up and you glanced in the direction of the stadium with sad eyes. You couldn’t stand the thought of leaving Hyun-su yet. Even the thought of leaving the small girl you had grown strongly attached to in the past few hours broke your heart. Hyun-su seemed to sense your hesitation as he grabbed your hand.
You looked back at him and he looked at you so fondly you felt like your heart might burst. With his thumb gently caressing your knuckles, he looked you in the eyes and said, “Stay. Stay with me. With us. You don’t have to go yet.”
He seemed just as desperate to make up for lost time with you as you were with him. His eyes widened and that smile you loved so dearly formed on his face when you nodded with little thought put into the decision. Pulling you closer with his arm circling your shoulders and one of yours circling his waist while the other hand reached out for Ah-yi to grab. She practically leaped at the opportunity.
“You ready, princess?” Hyun-su asked you in a soft teasing voice and you looked up at him with the same passionate smile gracing your lips.
“Lead the way, my shining knight.”
