hello, I’ve been thinking about Sokka in the finale and was wondering about your take I suppose? Or perhaps I just need to express this.
Sokka being a tactician rather than a warrior is a wonderful way to end his arc. Trusting two women who are, objectively, stronger in combat, while also being a guide & leader wow great love it.
And it’s great how he protects Toph. But I also think about how at the beginning Sokka is primed to die for Katara, and at the end he’s in the same self-sacrificial position. I don’t think this is bad writing but it kinda sucks for him lmao. His most triumphant moment is still one where it’s his job to die first.
It’s also interesting how this mirrors Zuko, who also self-sacrifices as a part of the completion of his arc. The way they’re both so willing to die is part of what makes Zukka compelling to me. But also! I wonder if Sokka would be jealous of Zuko being able to almost die for Katara.
I don’t think Sokka would think of it that way, but I can imagine his self-hate for almost letting Toph die, and then look! He wasn’t even there to die for Katara! Someone else had to do it! And maybe Zuko is a fine option if it’s not Sokka, but I don’t think its would be easy for Sokka to accept.
I don’t think he would know why he was angry, either. He’d just be mixed up with frustration and helplessness and probably concern for Zuko, too, and irritation at how stupid it was for Zuko to challenge Azula to an Agni Kai. God I hope they don’t break up over it.
okay, wow. a lot of interesting points here. i'm gonna try to respond to them in order (and number each paragraph so you can follow each point better).
1 while i would of course say that suki and toph both have unique strengths as fighters, i wouldn't discount sokka's skill either. yes, he is first and foremost a tactician who uses strategic maneuvering to win battles, and learning to prioritize his brains over his brawn is a huge facet of his arc, but crucially, he learns this first from suki, whose technique is all about strategic maneuvering against stronger opponents, and toph's fighting style is also about finding creative uses for her earthbending, instead of relying on feats of strength like the other earthbenders we see throughout the series. i would say that in this sense, toph, sokka, and suki are all quite evenly matched. they each have skills the other does not (arguably toph's skills are the most impressive, but sokka's accuracy with a boomerang and suki's little flippity flips – i.e., her abs of steel – in "the boiling rock" deserve acknowledgment).
of course, it's valuable that sokka trusts toph and suki entirely, and not solely because it reflects his implicit respect for girls as warriors (because like, we covered that at the very beginning of the series), but because it means he can overcome his control freak tendencies to delegate and trust others to be competent and succeed, which also means trusting that if they fail or choose to sacrifice themselves, it's not directly his fault (something he learns in "the boiling rock"). and of course toph and suki are probably the two people (who aren't directly related to him) he trusts, loves, and admires the most, which is what makes their team-up as a trio in the finale so lovely.
2 i actually think there's something really beautiful and poignant about the circularity of sokka's arc. as you say, it's a near-identical situation. sokka is faced down by fire nation soldiers, the only person in a position to fight back, while responsible for the safety and life of his little sister, and even though he puts up a valiant effort, he still must be saved by a third party who swoops in at the very last moment to save him before he bites it. in "the avatar returns," sokka's choice to die a martyr (in his mind) will finally fulfill his existential goal of protecting katara (which, again, in his mind, means doing for her what kya did), whereas now his existential goal is ending the war. either way, he is dying for his cause. the thing is, when aang returns to fight zuko, suddenly a new cause motivates sokka: to help the avatar. but now that the war is over, sokka's goals become less concrete. he must suddenly live past the end of his myth, which as we all know, is a perilous thing.
and as i've talked about before, i think this would motivate him to try and do everything he possibly can, because he no longer has one singular defined path, so to prove that he is worthy of existence he must now exercise control over everyone. as much as he trusts toph and suki and katara and aang and zuko (to an extent), i think his control freak tendencies would nonetheless be exacerbated by the end of the war, because instead of just imposing control on their little group to make sure they stay on schedule etc. etc., he now has the opportunity to impose control over the entire world. postwar sokka is kind of a nightmare i'm afraid.
3 i think it's important to remember that sokka doesn't really get angry, he gets guilty. unlike katara, zuko, or even aang, sokka only really gets angry if he thinks someone is incompetent and/or evil. but mostly, when he internalizes his emotions, he doesn't lash out with rage, he points that anger inwards, feels as if he is the one at fault, even if the situation was not remotely in his control. i don't think sokka would be remotely mad at zuko for what he did. he might think zuko was stupid for what he did ("couldn't katara have just run out of the way?"), but he'd also be infinitely grateful. i think sokka would be furious at zuko had the reverse happened and katara been injured in any way – oh, then he would tear zuko to pieces. but zuko risking his life for katara (although i think in zuko's mind he expected he'd be fine and that he could just redirect the lightning in midair, but he'd never admit that to anyone ever, so.) would only make sokka feel guilty that someone else had to perform his duty.
i think a big problem for sokka after the war would be that now that he has all these different paths to follow, he cannot be in every location at once (being a man means knowing where you're needed the most, but what if you're needed everywhere??? what then???), and he cannot know every single piece of information implicitly. the fact that he had to be at the airship fleet meant that he had to trust that zuko and katara would be successful in their mission. and he clearly does trust them, but i imagine there's also a part of him wracked with fear over their fates the entire time that they're split up, especially because if katara isn't okay, that means that he failed and he wasn't even there. so yeah, i think he'd feel a mix of gratitude and guilt that zuko performed his big brother duties in sokka's place. but i don't think he'd be angry at zuko.
4 sokka's self-hate for almost letting toph die is so real though. yeah "the boiling rock" teaches him to let himself rely on others and not take every single failure so personally, and suki is especially significant in that regard for how she represents someone who is sokka's peer who can rescue him but also be rescued by him. and all that, thematically speaking, is very important and lovely. but he still hates himself for not doing more. which is of course crazy, because he literally used a boomerang and threw his sword with only one working arm and a broken leg while basically hanging off a falling ledge in the sky to kill two men, but sokka is crazy, so there's no way he's satisfied upon being told that he did all he can do. his limits are his failures. and if he can't even protect his best friend, then what is he good for?
i actually think that if toph hadn't been there to ground him, he would have been less concerned with staying alive, that he only held on for so long because he wanted to keep toph alive. when sokka tells toph that "it looks like this is the end," toph, understandably, starts to cry, but sokka only really seems sad at the idea that toph is about to die. he's not crying, why would he be? this is probably how he's always imagined his own death in his wildest fantasies (yes, if katara fantasizes about revenge, sokka fantasizes about dying, you know it's true). if sokka is crucial to helping toph recognize and accept her own vulnerability, toph helps sokka stay grounded to his humanity (and obviously aang and others perform these function for both parties as well, but sokka and toph's friendship is a really beautiful, special thing). and that means that sokka is excited to be saved by suki specifically because it means that she also saved toph. but there must also be a part of sokka after the war that's thinking "in the end, zuko saved katara, suki saved toph, some giant spirit creature saved aang........ what am i even good for?" because if there's one thing sokka's brain loves to do, it's reinforce his own worthlessness.
5 "god i hope they don't break up over it" was pretty funny to me, because i honestly think that if they ever get together (and jury's still out for me on that tbh) it would take a good decade. but also i recognize that the way i "ship zukka" is different from how everyone else feels about/imagines them, so that's not really relevant here.

Hello I saw you were writing for persona 5 so i was just wondering if I could ask for some headcanons on how yusuke ryuji ann and haru from persona 5 would be like with a badass punk rock s/o who is also a phantom thief I just like to imagine the reader is extremely easy going and free spirited as a person and also a complete badass I can imagine them using their guitar as a weapon in battle as well like how serval does in honkai star rail
With a Punk S/O
Fandom: Persona 5
Character(s): Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Haru Okumura, Yusuke Kitagawa
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): Haven't played HSR (I've spent enough money on Genshin, I'm not doing that to myself xD), but there's a video game called Fable 2 where you can get a lute (it's set in fantasy) and it makes fun instrumental noises when you hit enemies so I like that idea a lot.
Tumblr media
Ann
She knows of the punk rock style a bit due to her modeling and her looking into different styles and clothing and just being rather interested in the subject.
I can see her being a huge fan of punks. It reminds her of the villains she admired in cartoons, but moreso since punks have such a stigma to them when she can see how much good you're actually doing.
Definitely cheering you on as you hit shadows with your guitar. Every pang from the strings causes her to get extra excited.
Haru
Haru has so much pent up rage in her body that I can 100% see her thriving with the punk scene and just letting it all out due to how injustice all the systems that are supposed to help people are.
That said, she probably wouldn't really be super aggro or outspoken when she's at school or a more public area just because of her own image since she owns a company now. But you still get her full support.
Like Ann, she's cheering you up as you smash shadows with your guitar. Feels a bit bad because she really hopes that your guitar doesn't get hurt. But if you let her, she wouldn't mind giving it a few swings too.
Ryuji
I feel like Ryuji would thrive with a punk S/O. He's very much sick of corrupt adults and is glad to have someone else that gets in trouble due to their uniform being altered and hair not looking how it should.
Can't help but feel a bit of pride when he hears the "delinquent" comments now because usually you're paired up with him in those comments. It just feels like a weird "matching couple" thing and he likes the fact that others know that you're together.
Thinks it's so freaking hot that you hit things with a guitar in Mementos and palaces. He does worry a bit because guitars can be pricey and he doesn't want you to break it
Yusuke
Yusuke definitely is taken aback by how blunt you are when it comes to speaking out against corrupt figures as well as being ready to fight if things come to that. He's not against it, but it does surprise him a bit to see that.
Might have to hold you back a bit just because he doesn't want to see you constantly being suspended during school. In the palaces, he doesn't mind if you go ham, but school is already annoying enough, he can't have you getting in trouble and leaving him to deal with everything alone.
Absolutely stares as you smash a shadow with your guitar. It's such a great scene and he immediately has inspiration to draw. Yusuke can't help a comment about hoping to find a safe room soon so he can begin sketching.

One of the things I find so interesting is how Jing is so very much not what a FL’s endgame love interest, especially in an epic xianxia, looks like (I mean in terms of character and narrative, not physical looks. Deng Wei is a ridiculously handsome man, like the rest of XY’s choices.)
I wonder if that is where at least some of puzzlement over XY’s choice/dislike of Jing as endgame that I’ve seen come from.
Jing is NOT the male lead - that is Cang Xuan, XY’s cousin who she never has even a glimmer of romantic feeling or attraction to. But Jing is also not the biggest badass or most magically powerful or most ambitious or with most status or most grand gestures or most epic story or even most outsize interaction with FL (vampy took her on dates to freaking underwater with his magic while Jing got her a practical gadget to use to go underwater herself; Vampy gave up one of his nine lives to heal her; Jing was only able to preserve her body so it would not be beyond saving and also try to die himself. Vampy’s power is battle while Jing is a tracker. Jing’s love is all-consuming and devoted but it’s also quiet.)
Jing does not come out first in anything except possibly torture (tho honestly that’s a bit of an open season on that one) and abnegation for FL’s sake. I mean the three guys are (future) emperor, a legendary rebel general with nine lives and an insane amount of magic and a…wealthy merchant.
And in a lot of ways it goes against the accepted usual narrative. Of course the top alpha dog would get the FL - the biggest bestest dude!!!! There are not many dramas where FL ends up not with ML and the ones I can think of still have a guy with outsize power/not that quiet/unhinged charisma - think of Ji Chang Wook in Empress Ki for example. The closest I can think of is in The King Loves also based on a novel where FL did not end up with the royal ML but the SML, the quiet royal bodyguard (but even there Rin was the best fighter in the drama.)
And of course the other thing that reinforces this whole departure from the usual narrative and can drive frustration is if you look at the three arcs/obstacles to FL for the three men. Cang Xuan is freaking fighting and scheming to win an empire! And accepting the whole drama maxim “love is never fated for an emperor.” Vampy is literally a sworn enemy of XY’s brother and fights to restore the long-defunct kingdom. So we have a would be emperor and a rebel leader. And then Jing’s problem is getting out of his engagement to an awful woman to be free to marry XY and/or leaving his monster family and abandoning his name to follow XY. I can see someone going “that’s nothing!”
BUT!
I love the narrative for getting that to a person living it, it’s all-consuming but also sticking to its guns that who XY will end up with is not about the usual tropes but what makes sense for her as a character. And so there is a reason Cang Xuan is the ML but Jing is the endgame and she does not end up with Vampy either. Cang Xuan’s wishes and plans drive the plot but that is precisely both why Jing is secondary in the plot but the one XY picks - she wants someone who will not drive the plot because what she wants is someone she wants cottagecore life with and there is no plot in cottagecore. The very fact that all Jing yearns for and all he fights for is domestic bliss (a traditionally FL obsession) - even all his scheming to help CX ascend is because he wants to assist FL’s desires - is why she ends up with him.
As she pretty much point blank stated in 33, everyone in her life put her second to a great cause and she’s done with that. The girl does not want a man who will change the world, she wants someone who is content to live in it with her.
ETA: I keep saying it but what the audience would pick in her place remains irrelevant. I mean I would not pick any of the three myself - I don’t feel like eternally sharing my man with 100 women as anyone with Cang Xuan would have to, Vampy’s greatest desire is to perish in the fight and the lack of appeal of that as a dating quality is obvious, and with his fam, marrying Jing would be like marrying into the Manson Family. But I am not XY so here we are.

Hello ! Hope you're doing good <33
Can I request platonic headcanons of YJ! Dick,Kaldur,M'gann (and any other characters that you think will suit this idea). Them meeting alien!reader(any gender you like) who's around the same age as them and that recently joined the YJ? Like for example, reader has 4 arms and has a cool space ship and being able to control elements (water or smth) ?
Please ignore this if you want I suck at making requests. Hope you have a good day/night !
From Another World | yj! Characters x platonic Alien! reader
a/n: I am doing good thanks for asking! I love this! It’s so creative and I never really get to do platonic things so I’m so happy I got this request!
Warnings: None. Gender of reader is never mentioned.
Contains: Robin, Aqua Lad, Miss Martian. Season 1 timeline.
Tumblr media
ROBIN:
Robin would have immediately welcomed you to the team.
he keeps his distance though, his training with Batman taught him to find weaknesses and strengths of anyone he’s around. It’s like a switch in his brain he can’t switch off.
He would like to train you to use your water manipulation powers but knows he probably no help with that.
he would do research on your world to get some background information. He’s a sneaky little thing
He probably try to crack a few water jokes around you.
“Hey Y/N! H2O is water but what is H2O4?”
”Robin that’s not a eleme-“
”For swimming and drinking!”
”Get out of my room.”
He would probably try to find any possible weaknesses or kill spots on your spaceship.
He would ask you to teach him to fly it, and of course you do.
He would be interested in teaching you hand to hand combat with multiple arms, but again might not be the best at doing that since he only has two.
He would teach you how to hack a basic computer, standard knowledge amongst the team
Aqua lad:
Aqua lad welcomed you with loving arms onto the team, being the leader.
He starts training you how to use your Water powers in battle, and is constantly looking for new tactics and weapons to teach you to form with water.
He would take you to Atlantis and show you around, being the one of the only other member of the team who can breath underwater is lonely so he’s glad he can take you back and show you his home, he’s really proud to be an Atlantian
He would be very interested in learning your native language and the power of your people
He would totally introduce you to Aquaman
He would tell you about his struggles with dealing with his emotions and feelings about Tula. He feels like you two are connected through your abilities and is willing to let down his wall and not be a tough leader around you.
you two become pretty close friends quickly after joining. He’s very glad of the new addition on the team.
Miss Martian:
M’gann is so freaking happy to meet another alien
She s felt so isolated with her ability set and her not being from earth made her feel like she didn’t truly belong
But since you came along that is out the window!
She starts sharing about her home life on Mars and opens up about what her true form looks like before she told the others.
M’gann would form two extra arms to teach you how to properly fight against your enemy
She would be very interested in learning your planet’s costumes and culture and she would share hers as well.
She would teach you all about human culture as well and would help you pick a secret identity
She would definitely make you cook with her.
She’d show you food from mars and how to cook it along with human food. She would love to see and try some of your planets food too.
M’gann would teach you to fly the Bioship and would love to show off her organic clothes
When you show her your spaceship she would freak.
She would love to learn how to fly it and would love to visit your home world with you.
She’d open up about feeling like an outsider in the team and how you being there just makes her feel more at home and at ease.
———
sorry if this is really short!
request are open!

Okay here are my many, many thoughts on Jedi Survivor. I'll keep the spoilers beneath the cut, so all who venture forward have been warned!
The way the game started out was so fun!! The stealth heist! The crew members Cal was teaming up with! Being on CORUSCANT of all places!
I really, really love the gameplay over all. It felt like they took the last game and just improved these tiny little details that I remember from the first one. Tiny things that would seem stupid but also made the game play that much smoother!
KOBOH MY BELOVED IT'S SO MASSIVE SO BEAUTIFUL SO GORGEOUS I LOVE IT THERE VERY VERY MUCH
Also I don't know who decided we should get Fast Travel but I would die for them
I'll probably make a separate post about this, but Cal introduced BD-1 to almost everyone he met-- ALMOST. Not Dagan, and not a couple other people that it was clear he didn't trust. And I for one LOVE that detail
Jedha was so fun other than the fact that I almost died every fifteen seconds
CERE!!!!!!!!! AND MASTER CORDOVA!!!!! WORKING TOGETHER!!!!! WITH THE HIDDEN PATH!!!!!
The Merrical was *chef's kiss* absolutely amazing. They are so April and Andy from Parks and Rec I love them
As a fan of the High Republic books, I thought the Nihil references, along with Dagan Gera and Santari Khri, were pretty neat! He was a fun villain to fight
I really really loved... pretty much all the Greez content? How happy he was to see Cal, and the fact that he had a room set aside for him, and the fact that he ventured back out into the fight just to keep Cal safe. I was mostly neutral on him during JFO, but Battle Scars made me really, really love him, and this game definitely built on that! Also I love that he named his saloon after his grandma (I think?)
Rayvis was an interesting villain! I liked him a lot, especially the final battle with him. They did a good job developing his character
Speaking of villains... I do be feeling some emotions about Cal's fight with Masana Tide. I'm a redemption arc girlie at heart, what can I say? But I see why they did what they did
RICK THE DOOR TECHNICIAN MY BELOVED
THE PONCHO!!!!!!!! THERE WAS A PONCHO!!!!!! I GOT TO WEAR MY BOSS BATTLE OUTFIT TO THE FINAL FIGHT!!!!! IT WAS AMAZING
That one scene where the whole crew was at the campfire together and for like five minutes it felt like everything was going to be okay warmed my heart so much
Yeah I don't remember what happened after that (obvious lie)
I like the new open world features, and the bounties you get to hunt, and the customization and stuff! And those Force tear things are terrifying, but I've completed two of them, and plan to do more as time goes on!
Kriff. Okay I gotta talk about the Horrors at some point. Thanks to my lack of self control, I'd seen some spoilers and knew that Bode was gonna betray us. I didn't know about Cordova (sad) and I didn't know about Bode's secret (SO MUCH SHOCK THAT WAS AN AMAZING PLOT TWIST)
I will say, Cere's final battle against Vader was SO FREAKING COOL IT WAS AWESOME PLAYING AS HER
I also love the fact she set Vader on fire. It's ironic
AULSDKFJLSDKJFLSDKJFLSDKJF AND HER LAST WORDS REALLY JUST SHOT ME IN THE CHEST I'M FINE OKAY I'M FINE (more lies)
Uhhh the Tanalorr plot line was pretty cool! I like the idea of there being somewhere safe from the Empire, to prevent Cal from being killed for plot convinience
Bode's betrayal... yeah I'm not gonna talk about that. I'm not ready, and honestly I have an objectively awful take on the whole situation that no one will like
OKAY THE SCENE WHERE BD-1 REUNITED WITH CAL AFTER HE CHASED AFTER BODE AND JUST LAUNCHED HIMSELF INTO CAL'S ARMS I DON'T THINK ENOUGH OF YOU GUYS KNOW THAT I WOULD DIE FOR THIS DROID
The part where BD-1 was going to scan the trontoshell, and Cal called him BD and THEN BD-1 like he was his mom, full naming him into safety. I love it so much
OH ALSO BD AND KATA'S DYNAMIC IS SO HECKING CUTE
(can you tell I love BD-1?)
I also really, really loved Merrin's entrance. Ten out of ten, the only thing I would change is that Cal should have immediately proposed
Oh! And Merrin and Kata's relationship is so fun I really really like it
Ummm yeah I think I've addressed everything there is to talk about (the most obvious lie yet) so yeah! The brainrot is still strong with me so I might end up posting some screenshots and more thoughts later on!

Hello! So i have this idea of a Linksona of mine if you don't mind listening to it.
This Linksona title is The Hero of Freedom, he is actually a complete nobody wannabe bard before the whole adventure happen, so the Chain could also call him 'Bard/Musician'. He belongs in the downfall timeline and his Hyrule is kinda of a mess because Ganondorf is the current Ruler of his lifetime, having killed the royal family of Hyrule way before the spirit of the Hero could have reborn.
This Link of mine actually had a mother who was a priestess of Hylia, his mother still has hope in the Goddess even after years of suffering under Ganondorf rule and his severe punishments to those caught still worshiping the Goddess or having any type of rebellious behavior, Link mother managed to savage a Golden Harp thought to be the original Harp that Hylia used from the ashes of the old church where she prayed, she gave her son the name 'Link' because she wanted him to be as brave as the hero of Legend, Link mother would often play her harp to her son and sing to him and tell him stories about the heroes of the past, she always told him the importance of being kind and brave even in the most severe of circumstances, she wanted him to be able to feel hope even when none existed. Link mother ended up dying, killed by Ganondorf followers when Link was 13, she left him her harp and made him promise not to hate the people of Hyrule for their fear of the Demon King and to not let hate weight in his heart.
Link was pretty much alone after his mother death, he ended picking up his mom musical talent and played his harp and sang regularly, although he was sometimes getting thrown at him, he met Zelda at the age of 14 and his adventure started there.
Zelda is 19 in this timeline and is actually the leader of a rebellion against Ganondorf, she was saved still as a baby and was raised by Impa so she doesn't know about much about royalty life, but she knows to kill a man, so there's that, she is actually pretty no nonsense and is focused on battle tactics and fighting rather than magic, although she has the triforce of wisdom, she actually met Link when she was trying to shrug off one of Ganondorf guards, and he appeared out of nowhere and chucked a glass bottle at the guys face, the guard then attempted to kill Link and Zelda put a dagger to the guy's throat.
Zelda was pretty prepared to give Link the scolding of his life, but the racket they caused ended up catching the attention of more guards, and she ended up picking the kid like a sack of potatoes and fleeing the scene. She was not exactly happy that the 'Chucking a bottle at a guy two times my size is a good idea' kid is the fricking Hero reborn, actually the thought of having to train a 14 old to kill a freaking adult demon man makes her nauseous and start to curse the Goddesses to high heaven, she eventually relents and keeps a Hawkeye on Link in his journey to make sure 'everything goes according to plan' (She is actually worried, but doesn't want anyone to know).
I see Link and Zelda having a very much Big sister and Little brother relationship in this timeline, Link does lookup to Zelda and think she is the coolest person ever and Zelda thinks Link will be the reason she goes white early because the kid never stopped picking fights with things that are a hundred times his size.
That my Linksona, hope you found it interesting!
I really like this au! XD
Link is still Link no matter what and Zelda is ready to kick butt as always!
Would that make Impa the grandma or very tired aunt?
Poor Link though, destined to not have family. :(

So I found this around, can I ask for ItaJun and AkaFuri?
♥ Send a ship and I'll give you who:
- Gives nose/forehead kisses
- Gets jealous the most
- Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive
- Takes care of on sick days
- Drags the other person out into the water on beach day
- Gives unprompted massages
- Drives/rides shotgun
- Brings the other lunch at work
- Has the better parental relationship
- Tries to start role-playing in bed
- Embarrassingly drunk dancer
- Still cries watching Titanic
- Firmly believes in couples costumes
- Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas
- Makes the other eat breakfast
- Remembers anniversaries
- Brings up having kids
Yaaay! Ask Game! Thanks Anon!!!
- Gives nose/forehead kisses
ItaJun: Yuuji definitely initiates theses 10/10. He's very affectionate and open with his love <3 Junpei starts doing them just as fast when he gets comfortable, usually when they're alone.
Akafuri: Furihata! He's probably super shy about it though and it takes some working up to but he's the one who starts it. He does it pretty casually after. Akashi starts later and is always makes a whole Moment out of it the few times he does do it.
- Gets jealous the most
ItaJun: JUNPEI. EASILY. He tries to tune it down and not let it show but he sulks whenever Yuuji gets too close to someone or if he thinks someone like-likes Yuuji(why hello hundreds of headcanons about the Megumi vs. Junpei- battle of the emos)
AkaFuri: AKASHI. Again, super freaking easy. Furihata's come to terms with everyone being attracted to Akashi, after all, he's handsome, talented, rish and very smart, who wouldn't like him? Akashi's like "I'm obviously the best why would Furihata be interested in anyone else?" but he sees people getting close to Furihata and he gets all huffy and pouty about it.
- Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive
ItaJun: Junpei picks up Yuuji. Yuuji seems like the type to get carried away in celebrating and hanging with friends so Junpei has to keep an eye on him.
AkaFuri: Akashi, only because I think Akashi's forever the Assigned Driver of GoM. He probably never allows himself to get too drunk. Furihata's a regular dude he's probably unwinding after work or college or whatever.
- Takes care of on sick days
ItaJun: Both! They both fret a lot.
AkaFuri: Also both tbh. Furihata's better at the warmth and comfort part, keeping him engaged when Akashi's stuck in bed. Akashi's probably good at the medicine and recovery part.
- Drags the other person out into the water on beach day
ItaJun: YUUJI!!!! Actually, I can vividly picture him just picking Junpei up and running into the water while Junpei's clinging to his neck like "Slow down! SLOW DOWN!" and then they jump in and giggle while throwing water at each other
AkaFuri: Furihata! He'd think going into the water's a given but Akashi's like "no I'm staying here and keeping watch of everyone and their belonging"(assuming they go with their friends + teammates). But Furihata's like, come on you deserve to enjoy yourself too. Insert something about how Akashi always viewed himself as being too far away to to truly get along with GoM +Rakuzan, that he broke their friendship too much, but Furihata's showing him that no, he's reaching out to him and he'll take his hand and close the distance if he has to.
- Gives unprompted massages
ItaJun: I think, both? Yuuji does it for fun, Junpei always feels heartbroken seeing Yuuji being put through the worst, most draining fights and wants to help him relax
AkaFuri: Akashi. Idk I just think he'd start doing it saying it's to help Furi stretch and relax for after practice for basketball but he's just touch starved and wants the contact
- Drives/rides shotgun
ItaJun: Junpei drives, Yuuji's shotgun. I have a hc that if Junpei went to Jujutsu Tech, he'd have opted to be a manager after somehow moving past the revenge against Mahito phase(he doesn't seem to actually care about the heroics of sorcery and would rather protect people he's personally close with). Yuuji just gives shotgun vibes he's a passenger princess.
AkaFuri: I think they both drive but Akashi always insists on driving because he thinks it's being a gentleman and maaaaybe he's going to show off a little when they find open road and he can go vroom vroom in his expensive car sometimes to impress Furi.
- Brings the other lunch at work
ItaJun: This is such a Yuuji move. He's good at cooking in canon and shares recipes, I think he takes joy in making people food, it's another tiny little way of protecting and helping the ones he loves.
AkaFuri: Both. Furihata brings homemade stuff, Akashi brings takeout. Furihata has to do it a bit more though because Akashi forgets that humans have to eat if he's caught up in whatever fancy important job he'll probably get.
- Has the better parental relationship
ItaJun: I am happy to say both! A miracle, truly. Junpei's mom is amazing, Yuuji's grandpa was gruff but still loving, Jin seemed nice as well. We don't talk about Kenjaku but I think Kaori would have been great as well
AkaFuri: HAHAHAHAHA Furihata 100/10. Akashi's dad is a fucking nightmare. His son was having a mental health crisis in middle school over not being the no.1 at everything, so much so he just fully shut himself out from any kind of human connection. That's how terrified of failure, of his DAD Akashi is. This is no competition, and I feel so bad for him
- Tries to start role-playing in bed
ItaJun: Hmmmmm....I feel like this was Yuuji slipping up at some point, Junpei catches on and he's like "wait, you wanna elaborate???" And then they sit down and draft up this whole scenario with characters and plot lmao. Probably some kinda monster-damsel RP except Yuuji sucks at being the monster so Junpei has to do it.
AkaFuri: I'm wondering if they would RP at all....I think if they did, Akashi would want to, but Furihata would verbalize it for him because Akashi has no clue how to explain that that's what he wants.
- Embarrassingly drunk dancer
ItaJun: Both. They share a braincell. They're probably laughing in each other's face while being nuisances
AkaFuri: By virtue of Akashi being canonically good at everything, this one has to go to Furihata.
- Still cries watching Titanic
ItaJun: Yuuji hands down. Junpei's out here checking the set design for historical accuracy and Yuuji's like "th-they love each other 🥺so much! And the violinist doing the last performance 🥺 the old couple holding each other 🥺😭😭". Junpei thinks it's very sweet.
AkaFuri: Furihata. He love romance and he might have accidentally related a little too hard with Jack and Rose(he will take it to the grave that he thinks Rose resembles Akashi).
- Firmly believes in couples costumes
ItaJun: BOTH. They're cosplaying every goddamn Halloween as their favorite horror and slasher movie couples. They WILL be cosplaying as Morticia and Gomez at least once.
AkaFuri: Neither, Furihata's too embarrassed by it and Akashi is way too awkward.
- Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas
ItaJun: Neither. I think neither of them have enough money for it and they see eye-to-eye a lot so they know exactly what to get. It helps that both of them have hobbies that are relatively cheap.
AkaFuri: Akashi. He has no idea what the threshold for 'expensive' is. Unless you give him a precise price limit, he will be buying Furihata giant train sets, first edition signed copies of books and shoes that are probably worth someone's 2 month rent.
- Makes the other eat breakfast
ItaJun: Yuuji? I think Yuuji eats a lot, probably wakes up early too, so he defaults into calling Junpei up for breakfast.
AkaFuri: Furihata. Again, Akashi forgets that he is a human being and therefore must eat.
- Remembers anniversaries
ItaJun: Both! But Yuuji remembers the ridiculously small events too, like first time they went ice skating together, first visit to the aquarium, first sleepove, etc. But Junpei remembers all the major stuff.
AkaFuri: Both. Furihata seems like a romantic who enjoys that stuff. Akashi is way too focused on his calendar so he knows what happened when.
- Brings up having kids
ItaJun: If this is canon, Yuuji brings it up. I think he'd want a big family but he fully ditched those ideas after seeing the state of their lives. If it's in a No Curses AU, Yuuji's super enthusiastic about having kids and Junpei's probably the same. I can see them having like, two kids. Adopted. Yuuji makes them the best lunches and cute breakfast, takes them to the park. Junpei's gotta be the more stricter parent, helps them with homework, they go to him when they want to introspect. They go to Yuuji when they have more fact-based questions like "how does rain work?" or "why do caterpillars become soup before they become butterflies?"
AkaFuri: Akashi.....? Furihata sorta had that default of "love-marriage-kids" in his head but he never thought about it. Akashi though, is having anxiety over it because his dad probably wants kids for the Akashi business empire or whatever idk he seems the type.

| in love and lore | sparring headcanons |
okay, so no one asked for this, but....
i always planned on the boys eventually teaching mc to fight, and after this ask, these thoughts have been living rent free in my head. i may or may not have also worked on these instead editing the next chapter, but wanted to share these with you too. maybe, it’ll serve as something short and sweet until the next chapter?? which should still come out here in a few days. anyways, i hope you enjoy! :)
(individuals below cut)
also, if any of you are new, these are some headcanons based on my fic i'm currently writing. if you wanna check out, the link to the masterlist will be just below.
| in love and lore |
~
let’s be honest, they were all surprised when you came to them asking to learn how to fight.
you’re not a violent person and has always been against violence in the past, so you saying you wanted to learn how to fight was surprising.
you may insist it’s purely for self-defense (you can’t always rely on them to save you, despite their insistence they can and will) but it still sparks some interest in them.
okay, maybe a more than just some interest.
they still want you to lean on them for protection, but man the thought of you in battle really does something to them.
jongho
jongho is the best fighter out of all of them, and the one you’re the most comfortable with in the beginning, so he’s tasked with starting your training.
he really is a good teacher, but can be a bit hesitant at times.
he just really doesn’t want to hurt you!
freaks out the first time he accidentally injures you bad enough to leave a mark.
you wave his concern away, healing it in a matter of seconds, but it still worries him and he’ll start pulling back again much to your frustration.
despite the annoyance of treating you like glass sometimes, he’s still one of your go to sparring buddies.
though sometimes he does prefer watching and teaching you from the side.
go ahead and spar with someone else and he'll give you pointers.
as long as it's one of the others though, he wouldn't dare let anyone else spar and potentially hurt you.
if the others don't mind giving you a few scrapes and bruises, he'll let them.
and he'll always be waiting on the side with some water and praise, telling you just how good you're doing.
yeosang
yeosang is also a little hesitant when it comes to you.
prefers doing archery with you than sparring since that’s what he excels at.
100% will take advantage of teaching you to shoot as a means to get close to you.
mentally and physically.
will definitely pull the move of putting his arms around you to guide your movements.
may or may not use his ability every once in a while to make you think you’re doing bad as an excuse to get in close once more to help see what you’re doing wrong.
what you don’t know won’t kill you after all
though he knows you’ll kill him if you ever find out, so better make sure you never find out
will ask to make a competition out of it.
you’ll take it up on him occasionally, but refuse to take him up on his attempt to give the winner a favor/reward
nope, you're not falling for that.
he’ll try to let you win occasionally to bode you into accepting his offer, but you’re not an idiot.
you know exactly what he's doing.
that's okay, though. he'll get you to accept one of these days. he's just got to be patient
hongjoong
you were really intimidated the first time hongjoong wanted to spar with you.
it was bad enough when he would watch you with the others, but sparring with him was something else altogether.
doesn’t use his full potential, but not as hesitant as some of the others.
and once you grow more comfortable around him, fights get a little more interesting.
definitely the most heated out of all on them.
the first time you land a blow on him, you get so excited, knowing you actually did that and it wasn’t him just going easy on you.
may or may not rub it in his face and proceed to get a flurry of hits coming back at you in your distraction in retaliation.
of course, he feels bad when he injures you, but the way you pout is so enticing.
and not to mention he’s always there to offer to massage your sore muscles for you afterwards.
you refuse, but the flustered state it leaves you in has him repeating the offer.
but he really is proud of you and loves seeing how proud you are of yourself.
that and now he has an excuse to drink your blood, something he would never turn down.
now he’s just waiting for the day you’re comfortable enough to take him up on his offer.
wooyoung
smug bastard.
uses it as an excuse to just tease you.
doesn’t even try to hide his intentions and will do and say anything to rile you up.
his haladies mean he’s used to fighting up close and personal, and he’s more than happy to get in close with you.
genuinely just wants to spar with you to get you flustered.
you know this, but you’re also determined to wipe that smug look off his face by beating him.
whether or not you’ll ever achieve that though, who knows.
may or may not use his weapons against your clothing.
never in any intimate places, of course, he respects you too much for that.
but there’s no harm in showing a little skin, is there??
it’s a good thing you’re clueless or he knows you would kill him.
will never let you win a fight, but will let you injure him.
anything to have a taste of your sweet, sweet blood.
that and he loves the faces you make when you think you're going to win only for him to swiftly turn the tables back on you.
you know full well what his intentions are, but the longest you lasted was one day before you gave in.
if only to shut him up from all the complaining he was doing.
san
san is always down to spar with you.
in fact, he’s down there in the fields even when you’re not sparring with him.
he can’t help it though, he loves seeing you with a weapon in hand.
doesn’t tease you as much as wooyoung does, but succeeds in getting you riled up in other ways.
is it hot outside today, or is it just san??
oh well, he better take his shirt off and make sure he doesn’t overheat.
most likely to pull this move when your sparring with someone else.
you do your best to ignore him, but he can see the way your cheeks tint.
and the way you falter in your next move.
as much as he enjoys watching you though, he loves it if you watch him.
can and will get the majority of the others in on his antics, and absolutely relishes if you were to sit and watch him spar with one of them.
and if san is out there shirtless, you can guarantee he won’t be the only one for long.
may or may not get so caught up in trying to impress you that he and the others won’t have noticed you weren't even there anymore.
but that’s okay.
the way you’re struggling to hide the emotions running through you from the bond tells him and the others everything they need to know.
yunho
yunho is also hesitant when it comes to sparring.
honestly, the best teacher out of all of them, especially when he realizes it’s a great excuse to get in close to you.
oh, your posture isn’t right??
yunho’s there with a gentle hand at your back to fix it for you.
is your grip on your weapon wrong??
yunho is also there to fix it for you, guiding your body through the motions a few times before continuing the fight.
if you’re frustrated and need something to work your emotions out, he’s also you guy.
will let you beat your frustrations out on him before offering you emotional support in the end.
fights usually end with the two of you laying on the ground, exhausted, both mentally and physically.
loves how bashful you get afterwards, apologizing for dumping your life on him.
but yunho wouldn’t have it any other way, absolutely loving that you would open up to him in such a way.
mingi
mingi is one of your favorites to spar with.
though his expertise is in throwing weapons, it didn't take long to begin sticking with weaponry that stays in your hands.
you both had come to that agreement after the first few times he had tried to reach you to use his chakrams.
even without his ability, mingi’s aim was near perfect.
yours on the other hand, not so much.
he freaked out the first time you accidentally cut yourself on them.
he wanted to stop there, but you simply waved him away as you healed it.
the time you hit mingi though was a different story.
this time you were the one freaking out, mingi, on the other hand, relished the reaction it pulled from you.
if the way you looked at him wasn’t enough, it was you quickly offering up your blood to heal him.
and who was he to turn you down on such a sweet offer.
he's also a bit like san in the way he loves having you watch him.
the way you obsess over the chakrams after realizing how hard they really are is just too sweet.
the compliments, the praise.
it makes him melt.
seonghwa
not as playful or teasing as wooyoung and san can be, but pretty damn close.
it just depends on his mood
you can always count on him to use his ability to his advantage.
so much so, that you won’t spar with him anymore unless he doesn’t use his ability.
at times he really will try and help you hone your skills, pausing every now and then to help you fix your posture or point out the best way to counter.
but other times, he’s just there to get you all riled up.
will use his ability to pop up right behind you, whisper some teasing comment in your ear before teleporting away before you have time to retaliate.
but even when you don't allow him to use his ability, he's just as bad.
it gives him an excuse to stay up close, which is almost just as bad.
doesn’t have an issue with injuring you like most of the others.
would never do anything to seriously wound you, but just a few cuts here and there with his daggers.
after all, he knows you can just heal them up anyways.
and he can get a taste of your blood that stains his daggers
i hope you all enjoyed! i know i had fun writing them. if you liked this sort of post and want anything more like it, feel free to send an ask my way!

A brief(ish) review of every Beyblade Metal Fury episode
Tumblr media
Well, this was a long time coming. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not put this off or abandon this rewatch because I dislike Fury. Not at all. Fury is actually my favourite of the three seasons. The reason I stopped this rewatch was two main factors: 1: it was around this time that I got really sucked into Yugioh VRAINS and with how chaotic my life had been during that time, I decided I would rather spend my free time watching new content than rewatch a show I’d rewatched many times at that point. And 2: I didn’t want to rewatch Ryuga’s death. Yeah… I mean I’m not gonna lie about it.
So after a certain episode, which I will say, the reviews are mostly from memory/rewatching specified scenes/skimming the YouTube uploads and episode descriptions. (Most of these however were written at the time I finished rewatching each episode.) Trust me that I’ve seen this show enough for me to be able to do that and I just didn’t have the time to rewatch all these episodes. However, it bothered me leaving this incomplete so today, I had some time and was thinking of Beyblade so I figured I could finally do it. Now, without further ado, my at first brief, but later not so brief at all because I have so many thoughts on and defenses of Fury, reviews of every Fury episode.
Episode 1: Star Fragment 8.5/10
Tumblr media
The best first episode of a season. I love Kyoya and Gingka’s battles in general and seeing them go all out against each other, using the environment itself as weapons against each other is really damn fun. It also sets up the star fragment thing beautifully, instantly showing off their power and hinting at the greater story very early.
Episode 2: Legendary Bladers 7/10
Tumblr media
A lot of this episode is exposition but it’s at least interesting. I can’t get over the fact that Beyblade took a real life end of the world prediction and made it part of their plot. The battle portion of this episode is also fine. I can’t tell if I like or hate Johannes based on this episode.
Episode 3: Lynx, The Monster Cat 8/10
Tumblr media
Okay, I like Johannes now. He’s funny. And he miraculously gave Gingka a good fight, establishing him early on as a competent blader. Still a little silly that Gingka followed Johannes to a place where he should’ve known his bey would’ve been weaker though.
Episode 4: L-Drago Destructor 8.5/10
Tumblr media
I don’t really have much to say on this episode outside of “I like it.” I like the scenes of them play-battling with the little kid, it’s the most light-hearted the show has been in a while, and I love Ryuga so obviously I love his presence in this episode.
Episode 5: Awaken, Anubius! 9.5/10
Tumblr media
Ryuga slays three fools in a row and roasts people non-stop in this episode. Well, Yuki’s not a fool, he’s kind of a boss actually: shedding his anxious demeanour in a fit of rage to stand up for his friends. These characters are both amazing, they really shine in this episode.
Episode 6: Requirements of a Warrior 9/10
Tumblr media
Having Gingka, Kyoya, and Yuki acknowledge that they need to actually master their beys and working to do so is really good and needed to be brought up. Also, that fire escape scene is really intense. The idea of being trapped in a fire really freaks me out so this could just be a me thing but it’s legitimately a well crafted scene. And Yuki, Kyoya, and Gingka fighting a volcano is the silly yet epic fun I expect from this show.
Episode 7: Kenta’s Determination 7/10
Tumblr media
Oh boy, this episode. I both love and hate this episode. Well, not hate. I hate one scene of it that lasts a minute and really doesn’t affect the episode. The stalking though… I don’t know, it could just be me but it bugs me. Not as much as it used to, I’m willing to give this episode a fair score because it is really cute. Ryuga is a boss like usual and he shows a hint of his softer side for the first time in his scenes with Kenta. It’s pretty subtle, and easy to miss if you don’t know Ryuga all that well, which I like. This episode trusts that the audience knows Ryuga well enough at this point to know that him waiting on Kenta in the desert and later giving him food and letting him stick with him isn’t something he would do for just anyone. They’re small hints, which is all they needed to be, and they make the second half of this episode for me. It’s honestly one of my favourites to talk about and analyse, even if I feel that there are some… unwanted implications.
Episode 8: The Crimson Flash 7.5/10
Tumblr media
The first half of the episode is pretty typical but still fun. Then we get to the second half and the moment they said that someone challenged the entire school to a battle, I was already dying of laughter and the rest of this episode straight up killed me. Johannes is so funny, I can’t take it.
Episode 9: The Greatest Tag-Team Tournament 9/10
Tumblr media
The first half of this episode had me cry-laughing, between Johannes’s utter ridiculousness and the absurdity of some of these other opponents. Then the second half of this episode is Yuki depicting an accurate representation of one of my anxiety episodes which makes me instinctively want to shield him from all harm. Great episode overall.
Episode 10: A New Roar! 8/10
Tumblr media
I love Kyoya, and this is a Kyoya episode. A Kyoya episode where he slays a fool and creates a new special move. His opponent is Johannes, who I've grown to love on this rewatch and find to be really entertaining. So why didn’t I give this episode a higher rating? Easy: the Motti stuff makes me uncomfortable. Johannes snapping at her and knocking both her and Benkei out (in the most cat-like way he could) was a good pay-off but that entire stretch of them kinda sexualizing (or at least romanticising) this underaged girl was really uncomfortable. It wasn’t as bad as I remembered (for some reason I remembered Johannes acting creepy during this and was exceedingly relieved and glad that he actually didn’t), but it does detract from an otherwise great episode.
Episode 11: Cosmic Tornado 8/10
Tumblr media
This episode is ten times worse than the Gingka vs Ryuga Fusion battle for people with a fear of heights (me). At least in that one you could see the bottom. This is a bottomless pit full of mist that two teenagers are constantly dangling over. Like jeez, do you wanna give me a heart attack?!
Other than that, it’s fine, I like most of the characters and the ending is chilling but man does this episode give me anxiety.
Episode 12: The God of Saturn, Kronos 8.5/10
Tumblr media
The title of this episode is so dumb, but the episode itself is good. The Beylin Fist are an interesting group and this battle is so back and forth I genuinely wasn’t sure who would win. Cool ass episode.
Episode 13: Showdown at the Tower of Babel 10/10
Tumblr media
Ryuga, Kenta, and Tsubasa all in one episode battling in and eventually destroying a historical building? This should be my favourite episode ever! :D And I do love it, definitely the most out of the Fury episodes so far. It’s got a hint of Johannes toward the beginning, a nice treat, shows that Kenta has already grown a ton since he started following Ryuga (despite his loss he still gave Tsubasa a hard fight), has Tsubasa as basically the main character we follow throughout the tower, and has Ryuga make a new ultimate move, kick Tsubasa’s ass, and knock over the Tower of Babel (the symbol of humanity’s arrogance and pride from what I understand) like the total badass he is. I love everything about this episode.
Episode 14: New Team Dungeon! 7.5/10
Tumblr media
The opening of this episode is a bit spooky. I forgot how much of a cult the followers of Nemesis really are. I actually 100% see how these characters fell for this stuff. “The world is a constant cycle of destruction and rebirth, only through great darkness will a new dawn occur.” Does actually sound legit. Villains are far scarier to me when you can see their reasoning and how people can fall prey to it…
The rest of this episode is mainly set up and exposition but it’s interesting stuff that brings Masamune, Toby, Zeo, and Tsubasa into the main plot, giving Toby and Zeo new beys, and even giving Team Excalibur a bit of screen time. Good stuff.
Episode 15: Destroyer Dome 8/10
Tumblr media
This is my favourite stadium in all of Beyblade. That seems like a weird thing to draw attention to, but the Destroyer Dome itself is so damn cool. The way the beys circle around the whole thing like comets, sticking to the ceiling and walls and looping around in every possible direction. It’s a stadium Captain Capri would’ve loved- OH MY GOD THEY BROUGHT HIM BACK JUST TO BATTLE IN THIS COOL ASS STADIUM?! HELL YEAH! I love this episode.
I do have one major gripe with this episode though: the Garcias faking a fight was… well, kind of a waste of both time and potential. It would’ve been so much more interesting both as a story and for them as characters if the fighting was genuine.
Episode 16: The New Striker is Complete! 8.5/10
Tumblr media
JACK MY BELOVED MAKES A CAMEO! AND KING THE FUNNY ADORABLE LITTLE SHIT IS INTRODUCED. OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!
Oh yeah and the Russian team and Masamune and some other people are there I guess. It’s a fun battle royale. I really like the part where Lera reveals she has a special move and it makes Jigsaw visible again. Good stuff, even if it ends too quickly.
Episode 17: I Am the Champion! 9.5/10
Tumblr media
DESTROYER DOME AT NIGHT, DESTROYER DOME AT NIGHT, DESTROYER DOME AT NIGHT, OH MY GOD IT’S SO PRETTY. THE BEYS LOOK LIKE FIREWORKS AS THEY CLASH OH MY GOD-
Also, the destroyer dome becomes a giant hamster ball and King and Masamune run with it like they’re on a treadmill. I dunno how the others got out when it was made clear by Blader DJ last episode that there’s no way to get out of the stadium once you get in but it’s cool so I’ll let it pass. But yeah anyways, King’s backstory gives him an honestly really uplifting reason that he’s so arrogant and reckless, which does lower the annoyingness of his previous and future actions a lot. He’s excited to be battling and not thinking of anything else in that excitement. He acknowledges that Masamune is someone he can use his full strength against and he respects him as an opponent. It’s nice and very sweet and all that mushy stuff. I love it.
Episode 18: The Maze of Mist Mountain 7/10
Tumblr media
Half of this episode is just the main characters, and returning side characters Nile and Demure (nice to see them again) wandering around some mist. … okay then. The other half is a decent battle between Gingka and Ryuto. It’s a decent introduction to this story arc. I like the new character, Ryuto, even if he doesn’t really add much.
Episode 19: The Lion’s Pride 9/10
Tumblr media
The travelling segments of this one are a lot more interesting than last time, being more than the characters just wandering around in some mist. And the battle portion is just really damn good. Team Wild Fang is back! Heck yeah! And Kyoya vs Aguma is a constant explosion match (both literally and figuratively) and Nile, Demure, and Benkei taking on Johannes, Bao, and the Beylin Fist bladers is also a fun side battle.
Also, while I was disappointed with how this character arc was resolved and the way it starts is a little weird (I’ll get to that later), it was still a really interesting idea to have Kyoya basing his self-worth on his independence, and seeing it as a weakness to rely on others. It’s a very toxic mindset that fits his character and would’ve been great had it been properly addressed. But I’ll get to that when I get to that.
Episode 20: Guardian of the Temple, Dynamis 8/10
Tumblr media
Dynamis has probably the best introduction out of all the legendary bladers. All the others just kinda walk in like “hey I’m so and so and this is my goal.” Dynamis though? He speaks to the group when they’re lost in the mist as if he’s speaking from the sky like a god or something, then when they finally get into his temple he challenges them to a battle, smirking like a sassy little shit as he wins. Also, he literally can hear the stars talk, I forgot this detail. My point is Dynamis is hecking cool.
Episode 21: The Legend of Nemesis’ Revival 8/10
Tumblr media
Gingka vs Dynamis is a good battle but then it gets cut off without an outcome and then the rest of this episode is exposition. Out of all the exposition dump episodes in this show, I do think this one is the best as it’s the most interesting and action-packed but there is too much information in this spiel. If there’s any part of Fury that I can agree is rushed, it’s this. I wish the exposition in this episode had been shortened and maybe some of it spread out to other episodes so it’s not all dumped on the audience at once. The main things we really needed going forward from this episode was the origin of Nemesis, the way they were defeated long ago, and the fact one of the remaining legendary bladers is the Venus blader with a Quetzalcoatl.
So while this episode wasn’t the best way to convey most of its information, it’s still interesting and important information for the story, which I do think is a good story. So I’m giving this episode a somewhat higher score than what it probably deserves. I just enjoy Fury’s lore and Dynamis and the commentary on humanity and its history that much. I can see how this episode could bore and there were times the over-explaining bogged me down while watching but overall it was still a delight.
Episode 22: The Four Season Bladers 8.5/10
Tumblr media
Okay, this exposition is a lot simpler and easier to follow. It takes up far less of the episode and cuts to the chase much quicker. Then the rest of this episode is the craziest battle royale of the entire show so far, ending when Kyoya reaches his breaking point which has been building over the past few episodes. He allowed what may have been just a small feeling at first to fester on the inside since he refused to tell anyone what he was going through until he eventually just snapped, which is pretty relatable to me personally. Kyoya’s arc in these episodes is well done. I understand the criticism that it’s strange he took Aguma’s words to heart so much when Kyoya doesn’t really know him and normally wouldn’t care about taunts like that. I want to argue it wasn’t specifically Aguma, or even what he said, it was Kyoya’s own internal realisation that he wasn’t living up to his own standards of strength. He internalised the idea that relying on others was showing weakness, an idea he carried yet simultaneously seemed to have been contradicting even before the start of the show. That kind of life shattering realisation is going to cause a huge reaction, no matter what prompted it. If Kyoya’s character arc this season had been resolved better (which again I’ll get to), it would be one of my favourite arcs of the show. I cannot stress enough how good of a setup this really was and how much potential this had.
Episode 23: The Battle of Beyster Island 8.5/10
Tumblr media
“tHaT gUy lOoKs iNtErEsTiNg.”
I love King, oh my god. He is so freaking excited and happy to be battling that even when Aguma reveals a move that could defeat him, King just goes “that is so awesome!” I love his energy so much, he’s basically an excited fanboy and I love it. This episode was fun overall but King is the one who shines the brightest in my opinion.
Episode 24: Two Big, Fierce Battles! 9.5/10
Tumblr media
I can totally understand how the back and forth switching between two unrelated battles might be off-putting… but I don’t have that issue. I love all these characters. I love seeing Kenta’s growth and Gingka acknowledging him. I love getting more of those subtle hints that Ryuga has grown to care about Kenta, and of course, the banter between Ryuga and King. There’s a reason I created a ship between these two. Even though they only met once in this battle, King not knowing who he is and just being excited to battle a strong opponent and Ryuga being confused/annoyed with him is really fun. Kenta and Gingka’s battle is definitely the more plot relevant one (and oh my gosh I love that scene on the beach) while Ryuga vs King could definitely be called fan service, but it’s great fan service that fits right in perfectly dammit! It’s something kid-me wanted to see ever since King’s reverse rotation was introduced and it’s great!
Episode 25: The Unseen Opponent 7.5/10
Tumblr media
Chris’s introduction episode. It still annoys me how insistent the characters are that Masamune has to be the Legendary Blader and ignore Chris entirely and Chris’s bey’s physics are impossible but the battle in this episode is still good. And my god do I love Chris. He’s already a huge mood with the way he talks about his job. “I’ve dealt with much worse than this!” “If I lose, I will not be able to survive in this world!”
Episode 26: Orion’s Whereabouts 8.5/10
Tumblr media
This episode is so chaotic, I love it. Everyone is just in a mosh pit of madness, with King defending his friend, Gingka trying to get him to chill, Chris instantly sucking up to his new boss, Ryuga showing up to wreak havoc, it’s all so damn fun. Stand out moments from this episode definitely include Kenta hugging the evil out of Ryuga, King cheering Masamune up, and that chilling ending. It’s great fun, and could be the last really fun episode of Fury as soon we get into the emotionally intense stuff…
Episode 27: The Lion in the Wilderness 7/10
Tumblr media
Yu is such a brat but in a charming way. I can’t stay mad at the little guy, especially when he’s the one to call out Kyoya for not knowing shit about lions. Haha if only that weren’t the closest thing to resolving this character arc. Overall, fine episode. I like Tithi just fine and Kyoya and Yu are at least funny. Next episode though…
Episode 28: The God of Venus: Quetzalcoatl! 5/10
Tumblr media
Yu and Tithi’s battle is pretty fun, it’s a good official introduction to Tithi. The first half of this episode is fine, fairly enjoyable if a bit standard. The second half though… ugh. I wrote a whole fanfiction rewriting this which… should explain how I feel about it. What Kyoya does here feels so out of character at this point and even if it’s not, it’s just irritating and the destiny moral is really fumbled here. Every other episode says the choices of the legendary bladers will decide the fate of the world and the narrative of this very episode even supports that: Kyoya chose to leave the heroes and then chose to return. Destiny didn’t actually force him to do anything. Kyoya just claims it’s his destiny out of nowhere. It fumbles the “destiny is a choice” idea and feels like an excuse to get him to return quickly without acknowledging the reason he left in the first place. Yu saying lions hunt in groups isn’t good enough because Kyoya doesn’t even acknowledge that or think about it… at all. So yeah it’s lazy writing and really disappointing considering how much potential Kyoya’s arc had. The final scene is pretty cool though, good setup for the next episode.
Episode 29: The God of Destruction’s Revival! 10/10
Tumblr media
(This is the point where I start reviewing the episodes based on memory/episode descriptions.)
I’ll be honest, most of the episodes that were originally two 11 minute episodes flow pretty seamlessly as one put together episode. This is the only one where I can tell this was originally two episodes, as the two halves follow two completely different sets of characters. The first half is the revival of Nemesis, a chilling, tense spectacle, while the first half almost exclusively, and a little out of nowhere, is a battle between Kenta and Ryuga. That being said, while I definitely prefer the second half, both halves are fantastic. A little odd when put together, but tonally they mesh well enough and I love how much Kenta has grown in this episode and his plan to beat Ryuga is so good that even though I knew it wouldn’t work, I see how it could have worked. Plus, y’all know I love their friendship, it’s just so damn wholesome, I can’t-
Episode 30: The Child of Nemesis 7/10
Tumblr media
Hello, obviously Doji in a top hat and trench coat. Why are you here exactly? Yeah I know his first appearance was in the last episode but I have less to say about this episode than I did that one so I’m gonna talk about the Doji thing here. Bringing Doji back was almost completely unnecessary and weird but honestly, after seeing how much more poor and ill-fitting his presence in Shogun Steel was, his appearance in Fury feels pretty inoffensive and just… whatever. He’s pointless but not unbearable.
Otherwise, cool ass raid episode, I like evil Dynamis and Kyoya showing up at the end. Nothing else really sticks out about this episode but it’s not bad. It’s just… not one that I can instantly point to and go “ah yes, the episode where this happened!” The main battle is Gingka vs Evil Dynamis. We’ve already seen Gingka vs Dynamis and they don’t even get to finish their battle. The episode is still fun but… feels like it could’ve been trimmed back to tighten the pacing.
Episode 31: Four Hearts 8/10
Tumblr media
Okay, this episode is much more memorable. Kyoya vs Dynamis and Aguma vs Tithi are both fun battles (even if I don’t get why the Planet bladers were descendants rather than reincarnations when the latter makes way more sense with what’s presented in this episode, is that just a dub thing?) and the bulk of Gingka vs Chris actually happens in this episode. I could’ve sworn that happened in its own episode but… yeah this episode and the previous and following one kind of blend together in my mind because all of them take place in this temple and flow directly into each other. That’s not a knock against the episodes, it’s just how my memory works. This one moves the plot along more than the last one and I love Chris so most of the episode being focused on his battle with Gingka is good in my books.
Episode 32: Come Together, Legendary Bladers! 9/10
Tumblr media
Also known as the episode where Ryuga fucks everything up. And every battle from the last episode also ends. A lot of Ls were taken in this episode. By the characters, the episode itself is damn fun. This episode also has two halves that feel a bit pasted together, with the first half focusing on the fallout of the three battles and the second half being the part everyone remembers where all the Legendary Bladers attempt to join together only for the aforementioned Ryuga hecking up everything but these halves mesh much better as it focuses on all the same characters as the first half so there’s no random sudden shift in focus, it’s just the next logical event in the plot.
This episode also features the scene where King and Masamune pose like magical girls. I’m just bringing that up because it’s cute not because it’s relevant.
Episode 33: Diablo Nemesis 8.5/10
Tumblr media
The temple getting wrecked took up more time than I remembered but oh well, the first half of this episode is a good display of Rago’s power and while the second half is tonally different, it’s the most logical direction for the plot to go. Plus it’s a nice chance to see the Legendary Bladers interact, in some cases meet, in a way that’s more low-key. As much as I love Fury, I do wish it had more scenes like that, more chances for the characters to just breathe or establish bonds.
Episode 34: To The Final Battle Ground 7.5/10
Tumblr media
So for some reason, the official source for Beyblade on YouTube incorrectly titled this and the next episode and also put them out of order. Episode 136 is titled “To The Final Battle Ground” and has that episode’s description but the episode is actually “Episode 137 The Lost Kingdom” and vice versa for the next episode. While I’m not fully rewatching these last eleven episodes due to time constraints, I did check my DVD for Metal Fury (which is an official release) and it didn’t make that mistake, the episodes are titled correctly and in the correct order so this was a mistake the YouTube channel made and I don’t know why it happened or why they haven’t fixed it even 7 years later. For anyone watching Fury, be sure to get the correct order! The show didn’t skip over Aguma’s redemption, the channel just put the episodes in the wrong order!
Anyways, the episode itself. Yeah, it has Aguma’s big redemption moment and… I actually do think it works pretty well. It’s nothing super deep, but he comes to the logical conclusion that saving the world comes before the Beylin Fist’s feud with Beylin and shows his commitment to the group by helping them fight off Johannes and his goons and save their helicopter. The rest of this episode before the battle is just the characters training to prepare for the final confrontation as they don’t know the whereabouts of Nemesis before they get a clue to said whereabouts and decide to go there. Not the most eventful episode but it works well enough. Besides… the next episode is… more eventful to say the least.
Episode 35: The Lost Kingdom 8.5/10
Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to have pure pain directly injected into your heart? I don’t have to, I watched this episode.
Try as I might, I cannot get through this episode, or the following one, without crying. Some movies or shows that try to depict a character fighting to their very last breath with every ounce of their strength before ultimately fighting to their last breath, cannot convince me that the character gave it their all. This is not one of those moments. This battle is as long as it needs to be and every moment is there to further the struggle, the slow fall of the once invincible-seeming Dragon Emperor, and I feel every bit of it. It’s the reason I… couldn’t bring myself to rewatch these episodes again at the point in my life I was at when this rewatch occurred. I was already getting my heart violently ripped out by a new show (and general life events that I won’t go into) and didn’t want my comfort show also causing me pain. So while this episode is great, phenomenal even, it’s… the second hardest episode for me to revisit. Entrusted Emotions only barely edges it out because that episode literally traumatised me to the point of developing a phobia. This one… is just a really sad episode that I always grab tissues before.
Doji’s also in this episode and while I don’t feel like his presence in this season was necessary (and in retrospect, it may have just been there to set up Shogun Steel, which I overall didn’t care for), I will say having him specifically there to mock and enrage Ryuga makes it more painful, at least to me.
Episode 36: The Missing Star of the Four Seasons 10/10
Tumblr media
Most of the episode, after the gang reacts to the death of Ryuga which is… also… really damn painful… is them struggling against Nemesis, unable to form the barrier to seal him away due to the passing of Ryuga and… yeah it captures that struggle well. The weight of the world is on the group’s shoulders and it is a hopeless impossible battle and you can feel that in the way they get knocked around despite their teamwork and despite them fighting at their hardest. Maybe it goes on a little too long but this is essentially the final battle and the feels are all there throughout and… the scene everyone remembers from this episode…
I did rewatch that scene (and a couple other scenes in the next episode), and my god is it still just as impactful all this time later. The build up, the atmosphere, the feels, the ANIMATION, holy fuck the animation. And the sound design, Ryuga’s harsh breathing, those final words. I don’t even know what to say, this moment is just phenomenal, my favourite in the entire series without question. Really, when I put Flash Sagittario in my top five Fury episodes all that time ago, it included this episode. Both are such a tense fantastic emotional spectacle that flow into each other beautifully.
Episode 37: Flash Sagittario 10/10
Tumblr media
Everything I said about last episode applies to this episode, only now the tides have turned in the heroes’ favour with Kenta’s evolution into a legendary blader, with his new Flash Sagittario, which the episode shows off very well. That moment where he defeats Pluto with Diving Arrow gives me all the feels. If I have one gripe in this episode, it’s that there are more flashback sequences than they probably needed but it’s a final battle and the flashbacks don’t take away from or affect the pacing in any major way for me.
Episode 38: Hades’ Persistence 7/10
Tumblr media
Oh, right, the last two episodes weren't the final battle. Honestly, could’ve fooled me, with a proper epilogue afterwards, that battle would’ve worked perfectly as the final battle, it shows the Legendary Bladers all working together and while it excludes a few older characters, the setup is cool and unique and fits the teamwork themes even better than Masters’ ending did and the battle itself is entertaining enough for me to forgive its shortcomings.
This… is just the fate of the world coming down to Gingka again. And everyone giving him their power. Again. Fusion did this first and did this better. Because that coming down to Gingka made sense, he was the one with the greatest connection to the villain, Fusion was very much his story and while he’s still the protagonist, he isn’t more important than anyone else in Masters’ final battle of the previous battle of Fury. This… ruins that, it feels really generic and phoned in. It’s not bad though, I do love Kyoya’s speech to Gingka before he and the others give Gingka their power. That does bring everything together really well and makes this otherwise pointless battle more forgivable for me. It’s a slip up for sure but it’s still entertaining.
Episode 39: A Ray of Hope 8/10
Tumblr media
“Every bey has a Star Fragment in it so we can all contribute”… okay…? Well, that’s not incorrect or anything, it does fit the lore of the series and brings everyone together for the final climax in a way that episodes 36 and 37 didn’t but… eh, this never did much for me.
Now the epilogue post battle though? That’s some nice stuff. The gang have been through hell but now that it’s over, they pick themselves back up and start to heal. Enough so that Gingka and Kyoya are even willing to have a battle, a no stakes fun battle to see who the true victor between them is, just like old times. A great final note to a great show.

For the meme: 6, 8 and 39 for Irateshipping; 8, 11 and 34 for Fragileshipping?
For Irateshipping:
6. When did they realize they loved each other? ALRIGHT. alright. I actually have this one kind of planned out in advance. They did it at different points. Marik fell first without question, it was when he met face-to-face with Joey that it solidified fully. In my head, it absolutely goes: Joey: "(says some kind of incredibly lame pun, e.g. 'I just had to hit that thug on the head with my Duel Disk. I guess you could say I decked him, eh? Eh??)" -> Marik, internally: "Oh man he's so stupid I NEED him so bad." However it then sort of simultaneously both soured and got stronger when Joey broke free of his mind control. It's a kind of paradox; Marik is in love with Joey because he can't control him, but Marik absolutely hates Joey because he can't control him, but Joey isn't interesting when he's not fully himself, but Marik can't do anything with him when he isn't mind controlled. Complex! After the Battle City affair, I think Marik just sort of resigns himself to thinking, "OK, this was just kind of a weird crush I have on a guy who probably hates me now, so I guess I'll just have to cope with this alone until it goes away."
By contrast, I think Joey had kind of a weird relationship to it; he had kind of an attraction to "Namu" as a pretty and nice guy he met, but it was just sort of like. A flirtation. Minor problem. Still other fish in the sea and all that. After Joey figured out he was Marik, though, I think he repressed any and all romantic attraction down as far as possible, with the exception that some of the reason he was pissed originally was just being kind of mad he had that crush at first. Anyways Joey only realizes he's in love with Marik after Some Time (could be anywhere from a few months to years, depending on if he goes to visit Rishid sooner or later), a very awkward reunion, a week-long fight, getting eventually chewed out by Anzu in those "JOEY WHEELER WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU???" talks she likes to give out, stealing a car to go drive out in the middle of the desert to be alone for a minute, having the Moment of Realization and nearly crashing said stolen car in his panic. Woops!
8. What’s one way their personalities compliment one another? Oughghgh okay so. I think it's really interesting how their personalities are both so similar but so different. They're both very stubborn and pretty righteous, while simultaneously having a ton of old built-up guilt. However, they have a lot of differences too. Joey is hot-blooded and willing to pick a fight with just about anyone versus Marik being more of a "master manipulator" type that prefers to let other people settle the score. Joey also tends to be extroverted and makes friends pretty easily if he doesn't freak them out with how passionate he is about, well, everything, while Marik is um. A little stilted when it comes to social interactions (I am betting good money "Namu" usually got by on good looks and brainwashing people to vouch for him whenever that particular character got used). So all this is to say, I think they have potential to actually help each other out a lot when they work together - Marik keeps Joey from making rash decisions or helps him find smarter ways to get around problems, and Joey keeps Marik from getting too isolated and better at dealing with his own problems instead of letting Rishid and Ishizu fix them for him (again).
39. What other couple would your otp get along with the best? I'm going to be honest with you I don't know if this counts but if visionshipping also happens I think they would have a fascinating relationship. Like a sort of friendly rivalry/thematic parallels/less friendly rivalry on the part of mai/marik thing going on. The autistic teenage homosexuals have unionized against the socially awkward 20something lesbians. I think it would be really fun to see them in a double duel (nobody is allowed to use god cards.) Does that count?
For fragileshipping (wow this is getting really long sorry):
8. What’s one way their personalities compliment one another? The irony of Atem being a literal ghost and yet significantly more down-to-Earth than Ryou is never lost on me. I think that most people outside of their relationship tend to dismiss Ryou as being very quiet and introverted, but he's just shy lol - once they're just around one another, Ryou is definitely the more energetic one that is absolutely having incredibly bad ideas, and Atem is going along with them because Ryou is his dear boyfriend and so can do no wrong and have no incredibly bad ideas. right? right???? (said while holding a knife as Ryou tries to figure out if you really can make cake out of ergot-infested wheat). Guy who gets into problems x guy who keeps on getting dragged into them. However I do think its good for Atem to relax a little sometimes lol
11. Which member is more physically affectionate? They are both touchstarved as Hell so they're significantly touchier than your average couple anyways but Hmm. maybe Atem? I feel like Atem goes with constant but minor physical affection (holding hands, casually leaning against him while playing games or watching movies, etc.) whereas Ryou doesn't go for physical affection a ton but when he does Watch Out. One time Atem had to go away for a tournament for like two weeks and when he got back Ryou pounced on him like Hobbes and rested his chin on top of his head with his arms wrapped around Atem like a clingy octopus for the next 24 hours. He Gets Lonely.
34. Do they give each other nicknames? this is a tough one. I feel like if we have a pre-Millennium World situation, then Ryou def had a nickname for Atem to try and differentiate him from Yugi- I'm not sure what it would be though. Incredibly tempted to say Mister Ghost/Mister Spirit just because Ryou is a Polite Young Man. I have a hard time picturing them using a ton of nicknames, but inside Atems head there are definitely five billion poetic epithets of courtly romance he uses for Ryou like:
Ryou: *picking dead lizard off the ground* Do you think reptiles taste like chicken because birds evolved from dinosaurs? Or do you think they taste like fish because their diets are closer and they absorb the taste of all the flies and worms they eat
Atem internally: ah... my angel... what beautiful and intricate lines and connections u draw across the world.... how sweet and like the white winged-dove you are... like a glorious spirit from above

Descendant x True Liberation: Perhaps we may be able to see the impossible world without racial discrimination against the Quirkless...
I remember seeing an ask about some of the spy AUs crossovered and in one battle they needed to stop fighting and figure out who is fighting for who, and i remember deducting they all effectively worked for nedzu at the end of the day. It was the most amusing shit and i dont know where the fuck it is so i could laugh at it again.
what could be the greatest combo of AUs to make the most pimped out support crew UA has never seen before them?
correct me if i'm wrong but did griffinguy24 get the singularity OfA at the entrance exam idea from your ask game or did he come up with the idea and that im grasping at straws when in reality it's a coincidence.
Public Knowledge x Profane Torch: this combo looks like a bad idea considering what started Public Knowledge, at the end of the day, the hero removed the secret part of the secret war between OfA and AfO and it does not matter if the roles swap ngl.
what would be the best combination of AU crossovers to make the most OP Izuku Midoriya?
HPSC President: i forgot he did it intentionally but the fact he managed to survive long enough to cleanse the corruption without losing like, 50% to 99% of his dignity amuses me more, or i forgot a line or two... regardless... Rescue Heroes deserve more love than they do in canon ngl, not every living and breathing person is going to be thrilled when the #1 hero just defeated the 9,542,105,281,691th villain over being thrilled about people getting rescued out of a desperate situation. And gloryhog heroes deserve to rot in a ditch then after hell for all i care.
Homeroom Teacher Torino x Homeroom Teacher Miruko x Longshot x UA University: Nedzu needed more professors to teach his students, so he challenges Miruko to be one, get Torino onboard as a teacher for UA once more, and bails Nagant out to both spite the HPSC and get another professor onboard. unless i missed something lol
Class Vill-A x HPSC President: Izuku manages to make contact with his fellow schoolmates in 1-A and convinces them to make himself as the president of HPSC, so they could get rid of the cringe-ass nae nae baby of a system with ease, and if he turns after all the power gets to him, they'll be the first ones to turn him in and 1-A all agrees with his plan. though if i missed a detail, this would only be an interesting but impossible thought.
All Future Time-Travel Fix Its + 8&9 in time crossover: it's a hodgepodge of chaos when they all collectively don't understand how when they want something gone like MLA it was taken down already by a Future someone who had more resources than the others. Then later on, they all arrive at a round table and begin to properly coordinate on what they should do instead of it being a race of who gets to do it first.
Eraser Midoriya x Equivalent Exchange: this combo is weird ngl but i want something out of it lol.
Descendant x True Liberation: That's the goal anyway!
This one
Good question. I don't think any of my AUs specifically upgrade the Support Department though
849 predates the Singularity AU by a good while, and both were predated by multiple fics with the premise of Midoriya being able to hear the vestiges early. The earliest one I've personally seen is Imaginary (started 2019) and another one which I cannot find now but also predates us both by a good while. (The one where the summary is the vestiges freaking out and one thinks the world is ending)
Public Knowledge x Profane Torch: Yeah that'd really suck for Midoriya huh
I'm not totally sure. Depends on your definition I guess. Others, Magical Romances, Tamama no Mom, and Star Spangled are all good starting points
HPSC President: Midoriya knows what he's doing >:3
Homeroom Teacher Torino x Homeroom Teacher Miruko x Longshot x UA University: Meh I'm sure Aizawa's fine
Class Vill-A x HPSC President: Seems like a decent enough scheme to me
Eraser Midoriya x Equivalent Exchange: Well considering how he got Erasure it has some, shall we say, implications

Dragon Ball Super 081
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is the third and final match of the Zeno Expo: Goku vs. Bergamo, the strongest of U9′s Trio of Danger.  Before he begins, Bergamo addresses the Grand Zenos directly and makes a request: If he can defeat Goku in this match, then Zeno will lift the rule about erasing universes at the Tournament of Power.  The Zenos consider this for a bit, then agree to his terms.
Tumblr media
So this puts Goku in an awkward position, since everyone’s now rooting against him.  Also, the Grand Minister adds that if it looks like he’s taking a dive, then Universe 7 will be erased here and now.
Well, it would put Goku in an awkward position, except Goku doesn’t mind this at all.  He ain’t taking a dive for nobody, not even seven other universes.  He came here to kick ass and chew gum, and Chi-Chi wouldn’t let him have gum, not since she spent that whole afternoon scraping it out from under their coffee table.
Tumblr media
So the fight starts pretty normally, until Bergamo leaves himself wide open and literally dares Goku to punch him.  Goku’s like “Okay!”
Tumblr media
So he punches him a bunch of times, and Bergamo gets bigger. I’m kind of skipping ahead a bit.  I don’t want you to think he grew this much from one blow.  It’s just that Goku keeps on hitting him, until now Bergamo’s like 30 feet tall.
Tumblr media
How is Goku gonna get out of this pickle?  If you said “more punching” then congratulations!  You understand this show better than most people.  All the gods in the audience are like “What is this fool doing?!” and you and me are like “No.  Let him cook.”
Tumblr media
Two things: (1) Getting bigger in this show never works.  As Goku explains, Bergamo’s increased size just means he has that many more blind spots for Goku to exploit.  And (2) Goku doesn’t give a fuck.  He came here to fight strong guys from other universes, and he got matched up with a guy who gets stronger the more you hit him.  Of course he’s going to try to see how big and strong Bergamo can get.
Tumblr media
Check that out, Goku just chop blocked this big lug.  He can’t even touch Goku now, because he’s so big he can’t even find the guy, and he’s got no room to maneuver.
Tumblr media
Also, I don’t think Bergamo ever counted on his opponent continuing to attack him this far into the battle.  Normally, a clever opponent might come up with some alternative strategy that doesn’t involve direct offense.  But Goku isn’t letting up, and even though Bergamo is getting more power from each blow, I’m pretty sure the blows still hurt him.  I don’t know how much of this Bergamo can take, but it’s clear that he never had to worry about that before.  But Goku wants to see how big Bergamo can get, so he’s just getting started.
Tumblr media
Mr. Satan and Beerus are worried, but Gohan’s enjoying this.  “If this doesn’t prove I have Saiyan blood, then I don’t know what will.”
Tumblr media
Finally, Goku powers up to Super Saiyan Blue, which freaks out the whole audience, and he adds Kaio-ken on top of that to give them a real treat.  Kamehameha, and Bergamo’s done.
Tumblr media
Trio of Danger my ass.
Tumblr media
Goku congratulates him for his efforts, but says that Bergamo was mostly using Goku’s own power against him, so he was basically fighting against himself.  And when you put it that way, it makes a lot of sense that Goku won, since he’s been fighting himself his whole life.  He challenges Bergamo to use his own strength for their next encounter, but Bergamo isn’t interested in being friendly or sporting.  His brothers carry him back to their seats, and he threatens to take out Goku first when the Tournament of Power begins.  No matter what happens, he plans to see to it that the 7th Universe gets erased first.
Tumblr media
Goku’s like “Don’t sing it. Bring it.”
Tumblr media
With the third match out of the way, the Grand Minister announces more details about the Tournament of Power.  This includes a picture of the fighting stage that’s currently under construction, and the rules.  You can only eliminate an opponent by ring-out.  KO’s don’t matter, so if you incapacitate a fighter you still have to toss them over the side to eliminate them.  Weapons are illegal.  Killing your opponent is illegal.  And there’s no flying techniques allowed.
What I find interesting about all this aren’t the rules themselves, but the fact that the rules didn’t even exist until a few minutes ago.  The Zeno Expo matches had no rules, mainly because the Zenos hadn’t figured out what they wanted the rules to be for the Tournament of Power.  And now, suddenly, they have the rules.  From this, I think we can infer that the Zenos were analyzing the matches we’ve seen, considering all the tricks the fighters used, and decided which things they wanted to keep and which they wanted to forbid.  Roh tossed Basil a drug to enhance his strength, and the Zenos allowed it in that match, but decided not to allow it for the main event.  Lavender could have easily killed Gohan with his poison, and the Zenos decided that he should be DQ’ed if it came to that.  And Buu knocked Basil out of the ring, and Goku said that would be an elimination in the tournaments he’s been in, and the Zenos decided they liked that idea.
I’m not sure why they decided to ban flying techniques.  Maybe it just makes the show better when the fighters can zip around all over the place.
Tumblr media
But the big thing is that there won’t be a series of matches.  No sir.  The Tournament is actually a battle royale.  All eight teams will compete in the same ring at the same time, for 100 tiks, which is supposed to equal 48 minutes.  When the clock reaches zero, the team with the most fighters left on the stage will be declared the winner.  Or, if one team eliminates the other teams before time is called, then they win that way.
The gods don’t like this development, although they didn’t care for the rest of it either, so nothing’s really changed.  However, this makes things more complicated, as each universe will basically be fielding ten fighters against seventy.  And in Universe 7′s case, there’s a good chance everyone will go after Goku first, since he’s the one they all blame for putting them in this situation.
Tumblr media
So is that it for the Zeno Expo?  Not quite, as a big guy with the Universe 11 delegation suddenly jumps into the ring and confronts Goku.  He throws off his black robe and challenges Goku to battle.  But we’ll deal with him next time.

Today's anime cluster review is a bit different than the norm. First, let's introduce the theme for the cluster: fallen from grace.
Okay, I know some of you may be thinking that it's a hero to villain type of anime that I will be reviewing but no. It's more of the character in the anime who may once had been a powerful person, a famous person, a strong force to be reckoned with, and many more, and their current situation in the anime was that they were no longer who they used to be. It is not necessarily that they lost all of their fame and power or the like, it could be that they no longer associate with anything of such nature for the sake of peaceful living... or possibly a hidden agenda...
Also, given the nature of this cluster's theme, it is inevitable that I may need to spell out the entire story of the character, or the plot, in order to justify the reason why the anime is categorised in this theme. But for those of you who are possibly interested in the anime listed below but don't wish to see any spoilers and yet you still want to know what my views are on those anime, I will put a TLDR at the end of each anime review in this list.
Now that that's done with, let's get on to it! Also, 🚨MAJOR SPOILERS🚨 will be expected in today's anime review list.
1️⃣ Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records
Tumblr media
(Picture Source: Draggle's Anime Blog thru' Google Image Search)
The main protagonist, Glenn Radars (on the left), is one such character having "fallen from grace". Prior to the current events in the anime, Glenn was part of a special military unit, which comprises of an elite group of mages, that was under the royal family's order.
While Glenn may not necessarily be the strongest in the unit, he is still a feared ex-member of the military unit. Throughout the anime, he has shown and demonstrated his feats of fighting against the enemies.
It can be considered as a comedic anime but it does have its serious side. It is a very fun anime to watch, in my opinion, and it also gives you a satisfying feeling when Glenn one ups the people who doubted his abilities. Good anime to watch.
Rating: 8.5⭐/10
TLDR: Gives you the satisfied feeling whenever main protagonist one up against people who doubted his abilities.

I'd be very honest with you, I have no freaking idea what is going on in this anime.
Let me introduce you to the main protagonist, Ace, the guy in red. He is actually a lot older than he looks and he was considered the best agent of some sort in this organisation. But something happened and Ace lost his memory, and his body started going back in time. So, yes, that young man in red you see up there is the main protagonist technically under a curse of some sort... and the organisation is out to kill him for reasons unknown to mankind.
Allow me to spoil even further since we are looking at the picture. And I also highly doubt anyone wants to watch this anime... for reals...
That guy in the far right? That's Ace's son. That girl on the left? That's some goddess of time and also Ace's wife, and yes, she gave birth to that son at the back.
Alright, technically, what I remember is that both Ace and his son were trying to find a way to undo the so call "curse" that Ace is suffering from so that he would go back to the original age he was supposed to be. The downside of this "curse" is that Ace does not remember much about everything, but my guess is because his son was constantly with him, Ace remembers that he has a son.
Another thing in this anime is that there are time eating monsters. So while Ace and his son (the reason i keep calling him "son" is because I forgot his name but too lazy to google for it) searched for a way to rid Ace of his "curse", they had to battle against this time eating monsters.
So yeap, as I said before, this anime is super confusing and I have no idea what the heck is going on. I would not recommend this anime at all, but if you guys are brave enough to watch it, I shall pray for the sanity of your brains.
Rating: 2⭐/10
TLDR: Have no idea what is going on, only know main protagonist needs to rid himself of some "curse" he is being placed under while battling against some time eating monsters.
3️⃣ Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan

I have watched this countlessly times and the one thing that still confuses me was why Kanata, the male protagonist, was labelled a traitor...
I'm jumping ahead so let me backtrack a bit.
Kanata, the sole guy you see in the picture, was once part of an elite team and he was known to be the strongest in the team. They were facing some monsters that were attacking the academy and Kanata decided to face the monsters alone when one of his teammates fell (I can't remember who it was). Afterwards, the anime cut to the current events and Kanata was labelled as a traitor and was no longer part of the ace team.
I mean like... I still don't get why he is being called a traitor... like what the heck did he do?
Anyway, the story focused on Kanata, who after having labelled as a traitor, was assigned to be an instructor to a team of failures.... I apologise for the harshness but I don't know any other better terms to describe them.
It is quite an interesting anime to watch though it would have been better if they could address his label as a traitor properly. There probably would be a character you would want to throttle in the anime. For me, it was Misora.
Anyway, have a go at it and I would recommend watching this anime for some comedy relief.
Rating: 8⭐/10
TLDR: Not the best, but it's a good anime to watch. Just not entirely sure about the "traitor" label and its origins.
4️⃣ I'm Quitting Heroing

Wow, there is quite a lot to unpack here in this anime... Okay, let's get down to it.
Some of you may know, and some of you may not know. This anime was popular recently and received good reviews. I thought it was worth a watch and it actually is quite relaxing.
As I said earlier, there's a lot to unpack and there will be major spoilers. THIS IS ONE ANIME THAT IS SUCH. So, if you don't wish to see the spoilers, then I recommend you to quickly scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post and read the TLDR version instead.
For those of you who decided to continue reading, you have been warned.
Okay, so first off, the main protagonist is Leo Demonheart, the guy lying on the couch in the picture up there, is the hero of the world. When you think of the word hero, the character would probably be some human blessed with a multitude of blessings and could become a saint after he retires as a hero, right? Well, not for Leo.
Leo was actually a humanoid species created by the humans of modern day Tokyo to help curb the invasion of the demons then. He was one of the 12 humanoids created to help with this unrewarding endeavour for eternity. As time passed, modern day technology crumbled and the current events of the anime is what happens after the invasion of the demons in modern day Tokyo.
If you are still confuse by what I am trying to say, basically, it seems like time reversed on earth. Instead of a government that we are used to in real life, the people reverted to the time when kings ruled and nobility exists. So, it was during this period that Leo was recognised as a hero and he went to defeat the demon ruler. It was a successful battle for him since he is ridiculously strong, but the humans and the king Leo served were terrified of his power, and well... Leo then went to find the demon queen he defeated earlier to serve under her instead.
This is actually a very good anime. The only pet peeve I have about this series is the timeline jumping. Now, I understand that it was Leo's memories. But before he explained it properly in the series, it was super confusing when the scenes shifted between the two timelines. It gave the question of whether I was watching a parallel universe or something.
But overall, it is a good anime and highly recommended to watch.
Rating: 8.5 ⭐/10
TLDR: A highly recommended anime to watch but timeline jumping scenes in the series can be confusing.

20. A boss you think is really cool
Hmmm... that's an interesting one! I'm gonna answer with a few different bosses, bc 'cool' could mean a lot of different things
Cool design + concept: Blizzeta from Twilight Princess (her 2nd form also has what's probably my 2nd fave boss theme of all time)! I also like the in-story context for her boss battle so much! (spoilers for Twilight Princess) We know already that the mirror shards are a corrupting force, and earlier we see that the Goron Chief was corrupted by the Fused Shadows. But here we see, via freaky ass cutscene, a character we liked get corrupted in front of us- it's no longer a generic 'beat the bad guy' boss fight, it's a 'saving the innocent' battle with personal stakes! and the cutscene that initiates her battle? Iconic. Everyone in the fandom knew NOT. TAKE. MIRROR. I also have an attachment to her for very personal reasons haha. But yeah her design fucks hard, I wish the combat was as interesting as the rest of her schtick.
Cool (I admire them): Cynthia from pokemon gen 4 are u kidding me I wanted to be her SO BAD as a kid. She wiped the floor with me so many times. I made a sprite edit using her as a base when I was like 12 and used it for an avatar. If I can remember the name of my old forums I'll post it.
Cool as in 'has stuck with me': Honestly a lot of the OG Luigi's Mansion ghosts are cool bc they're like... just people, and it's real wild that the first boss of this nintendo game is somebody's dead mom. But Bogmire stands out for being kind of surprise creepy. I think about it a lot. What's its deal. Yeah it's the personification of the house's misery or whatever, but what does that MEAN. I was like 5 or 6, playing this game, and I go to a hidden graveyard and knock on a big cool gravestone and initiate this battle. For little me, it was the right mix of creepy but engaging. I was nervous but not terrified. I would buy a Bogmire plushie.
Cool as in 'I look forward to it when I play the game': The darknut minibosses from both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Yeah the Wind Waker one isn't that tough now that I have a big grown up brain, but it's still neat, and WW Darknuts are my literal all time favourite enemies to fight in any game ever. I never pass up the chance.
The Twilight Princess one, though? Holy shit. I replayed the game like 2 years ago, and that bitch STILL kinda freaked me out! YEAH you can cheese him with the bomb arrows if ur a little bitch, but if you do a genuine bona fide sword fight? That shit's fun as hell. There's this unnameable dread when you first enter that room. You can feel in your BONES that that suit of armor is going to come to life and whoop your ass.
Cool as in most badass/dramatic: oh yeah it's gotta be the Wind Waker final battle. Everything about it RULES. (SPOILERS) You're having a desperate sword fight for your life, a 10 year old kid who left home a month ago vs an ancient warlock who was so powerful the gods themselves had to seal him away.
He won, btw. Like Ganondorf literally wins in WW. It takes KoRL stepping in to DROWN BOTH HIMSELF AND GANONDORF to prevent Ganondorf from getting his wish. So you're trapped in a room, water pouring in on all sides, against a man who... doesn't even hate you. He's just doing what must be done. He could have killed Zelda, but he doesn't. He puts his sword away and backhands her instead of running her through. He's 100% just playing out his destiny. You aren't the one who defeated him the first time, you're just some kid who was dragged into this by a ghost.
And when you kill him BY STABBING YOUR GODDAMN SWORD INTO HIS HEAD, he laughs quietly before delivering one of the most iconic lines in Zelda history. Like that whole battle, from opening cutscene to the final, is so intense. So fucking intense. I'm convinced they couldn't have gotten away with half the shit they do if the game wasn't so cutesy. Easy Teen rating.
Cool as in Best: WW Molgera is 10/10. The fight itself is fun and satisfying! Molgera has a KICK ASS design! It's a fantastic and mood-setting opening cutscene! The sound design on the boss is freaky in all the right ways! It's a UNIQUE boss battle! She's got the greatest boss battle theme in the whole goddamn series and I'll DIE on this hill! She was so scary I cried while watching my dad play when I was little, and once I got to her battle on my own I not only remembered her, it took me two days to work up the courage to face her, and I felt like an absolute fucking badass once I did! In that moment, I fell well and truly in love with video games. I was Link, a child facing down an ancient wyrm, terrified but pressing on.
Also, in the original GCN version of the game, the hitbox on her tongue doesn't go away when she starts flying, so you can hookshot it and force her back into the sand.
Thank you for the ask, doubly so if you actually read all of this haha <333

Friend! Clanswap time! Imagine both LaCroix and Nines were Hecata, maybe like, LaCroix as a Giovanni and Nines as a Lamia. Obviously, as a very important necromancer, LaCroix would need to have Extremely Buff ghosts to flank him at all times. If he could have the ghost of anyone in the world to be his bodyguard(s), who would he choose? What ghosts would Nines hang onto? How would he feel/deal with the Lamia ability to make people sick? Imagine Nines and LaCroix having the ghosts fight each other like a weird ghost Pokemon battle. Ming Xiao comes out of a fast food joint with her bag of chicken nuggets and sees this ghost Pokemon fight. How would she react (especially if she was dating one or both of them)? What does Ming Xiao think of this Western necromancy?
I can't decide if the spice would be more delicious if LaCroix was Giovanni or Cappadocian. The Lamiae are supposed to protect the Clan of Death. Would Nines extra-despise Giovanni!LaCroix because the Giovanni betrayed Cappadocious? Would he feel torn because he some part of him wants to protect Cappadocian!LaCroix? Or maybe he instinctually wants to protect all Hecata members, regardless of Clan origin. Which do you prefer or is there another emotional quagmire to explore here?
Enjoy the brain teaser! :D
@badass-at-cuddling oh man this is a brain teaser but a very fun question to ponder on XD
I love the idea of LaCroix being a Giovanni and Lamia!Nines and against all odds falling for each other! XD Maybe what makes it easier for Lamia!Nines to want to be with Gio!LaCroix is the fact he is disgraced and likely excommunicated himself from the family for either his failures (LaCroix being a little too ambitious for his own good again! XD) or to get away from the family, cause ya know the Giovanni are fucked up!
But I do find that Cappadocian!LaCroix would be interesting, though he'd hate he likely looks really dead after 200 years XD and Nines would be moved to protect him, despite how annoying he is XD Maybe by the time of V5 Nines might be more willing to protect any Hecata members because of how vulnerable they are and its what he was embraced to do.
As for what kind of ghost LaCroix would have as his bodyguard(s), hmm Idk if you mean a real dead person or from the wod, so I'm going to say that they have to be at least similar in power as the sheriff is in vtmb, basically a strong and versatile fighter. (sorry I don't know too much about wraith XD) I'd also imagine LaCroix would want to have some wraiths who could also scout and spy for him as well, useful for him to get the upper hand on his enemies.
As for Nines coping with his clan weakness with making any mortal sick from a deadly disease, I think he would only feed from people he thought deserved to suffer such a fate, otherwise I think he would stick to drinking from blood bags until he got too old to do it.
Now for Wraiths, I think Nines would make sure he'd have a good variety of wraiths, ones that do actually want to hang around him, they like to give him advice, especially in his dating life! XD
Oh man, I love the idea of LaCroix and Nines having a Pokemon ghost battle in the parking lot of a freaking chicken and Ming Xiao steps out with her chicken nuggies and just gives the heaviest of sighs, cause her Cainties boys at are it again! XD
As for what Ming Xiao thinks about Kindred necromancy compared to Kuei-jin, I have no real idea tbh, I don't have all the Kindred of the East books, but honestly I doubt Ming Xiao would like how the Giovanni collects and uses wraiths even if she can appreciate their ruthlessness, it might be a step too far for her. She might be more alright about the other clans/bloodlines that use necromancy, but I'm not sure. Though she might be curious to learn more when she can.
This was a heck of a brain teaser, and it was really fun to think on it, so thank you for the ask :D

battle royale ask sequel: Post-Rok, Fushimi is playing away from everyone (s4 vs homra) and is with Aya who wanted to hang out with him. Mic was on and Aya decided to talk and since no one knew about her, they all wondering who the girl was and was confused the sound seem to have come from Fushimi's mic. Yata recognized who it was a bit later and Fushimi didn't say anything cause it's funny hearing everyone freak out on both sides. (was funny irl with me talking while my bro is playing)
Everybody freaking out thinking Fushimi suddenly has a girlfriend XD Following up from this ask, say post-ROK Fushimi and Aya have kinda made up and reconnected, they both realized how shitty their family is and are like bonding over that (maybe set this after one of those asks where they meet again at a family member's funeral and Fushimi roasts everyone for sucking). They even visit each other now and again, it's a pain for Fushimi to have her come to S4 so he'll go visit her like at an apartment she rents near her school. One day he's visiting and S4 had some big battle planned in their game, Fushimi's complaining about it and how they always make him play and Aya tells him to go ahead and use her computer. She figures it would be interesting to see Saruhiko play games with other people besides Misaki and Fushimi's like fine, figuring this will keep the alphabet squad happy and he won't have to listen to Doumyouji complaining that they lost.
The squad are happy that Fushimi-san found time to log in after all and they're all ready to have a fight against Homra. Everyone always has their mics on now since they know who they're playing against and it's more fun with trash talking, Yata immediately gives this enthusiastic yell as his character appears on the field. Aya recognizes the voice and makes a comment about Misaki being the same and imagine all the characters on the field just freezing. Fushimi clicks his tongue and says she didn't have to say it into the microphone and Aya's like well it's my computer, the two of them lightly bickering a little. Both Homra and S4 are shocked and have totally forgotten that they were supposed to battle, everyone wants to know who the girl is. Hidaka remembers that Fushimi took the afternoon off and he's like wait you left to spend the evening with a girl and now everyone is certain that Fushimi-san has a secret girlfriend or wife or something. Imagine someone asking Yata about it and he's actually realized who that voice is so he's all casual like yeah I know who that is, tell her hi for me Saru. S4 all want to know more and Yata's kinda enjoying keeping quiet and letting everyone freak out, Fushimi rolls his eyes like I'm logging off now since none of you can stop talking.
