Have you seen the official Getty pictures of Sam and Eleanor from tonight and this below? I’m not sure how to best express my feelings but it’s making me question the special chemistry I thought S and C had and believing they are a couple. I’m trying not to be sad but I’m questioning everything I have believed.

Call me a starry-eyed, wide-gazed newbie but one of the things I have always, always enjoyed about “shipping” is simply the novelty of it. That I get to witness, albeit in bits and pieces, two wonderful people slowly fall in love and witness that love flourish. Strangers? For sure. I don’t know these people and they don’t know me. But much like millions of smitten fans all over the globe, we saw magic and continue to see magic even in the simplest of sentiments. Just like the pictured quote above.

I know this fandom has become jaded, and really, who can blame you after all you’ve been through in recent and not-so-recent years. More often than not, one side tries to eat the other alive. Neither succeeds, of course, but it doesn’t stop the whole dog-eats-dog dynamic. That’s fine, to each their own. Bark and growl all you want, I for one will not tell you to stop. I’ll probably join you in the near future when the trolls start invading my inbox, which will inevitably happen, as it happens in every fandom. That’s okay, I’m used to it from years and years of being a dedicated fangirl in other fandoms. I know how to back my talk. And how to keep my silence when the situation calls for it.

Still, I’m here to have a good time. I’ll ship these two, no matter what story is being concocted to point me in the opposite direction. That’s just me though, I’m not one to shove anything down anyone’s throat. Not religion, not pizza toppings, and certainly not to adhere to any kind of fangirling “rules”. There are no rules, you see. I’ve been in enough “inner circles” and “in-the-know” clubs to say that. Fangirl how you want, troll how you want. Fuck do I care. Go nuts.

At the end of the day, they love each other. Platonic? Romantic? Of course I’m leaning on the latter. I’m here for the ride, but every once in a while I like to enjoy the scenic view. Like the fact that he takes extra care to mention her in a PR book, not just thanking her but saying he owes her. Read into that however you want. They owe each other.
