I wanna randomly ramble about my main au regarding ships real quick.

TRIGGER WARNING, PLEASE NOTE THAT I MENTION THINGS LIKE ABUSE, RAPE, ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE!! Please don't read if these things upset you! I want everyone to be safe, so if any of this is triggering, this is to tell you to scroll by!

I'm a multishipper, I've stated this on my blog before, I ship practically everything if I see it a certain way. But lore wise when it comes to my blog, relationships are specific. I might post a relationship chart one day, but basically, I have main ships, and then I have like a billion little side ships I enjoy but they wont make a big appearance on this blog unless they're random doodles unrelated to the lore, or part of a ramble or reblog. Im gonna list examples of each so people know what to expect in future posts where some of these ships are featured. If you want to unfollow me for some of these, I'm not stopping you, I'd highly encourage doing so if any of these ships make you uncomfortable, because I don't want anyone to stay on my blog if it brings discomfort.

Several main ships I have that'll be featured perhaps the most are ones like Jeff x Ben, which if not already obvious is the main relationship that'll be focused on. Another is Tim x Toby, they're both adults in my au, I do not support pedophilia whatsoever and if need be I have aged up characters to avoid this. Lastly, I have Liu x Eyeless Jack. I honestly dont know why I started shipping it but its really cute to me and it stuck and they're very dear to me. These three are perhaps the ships that'll be featured the most, but I'm having a brain fart like always and I'm already forgetting my own ships-😭

These are ships that'll be in the blog as well but they aren't as big and focused on. A example to start off with is Jane x Clockwork. I know, canonly, Jane is married to Mary, and I love that, but this is my own personal au so things are different, although in my heart Jane and Mary are definitely on top, and I might do doodles of them from time to time. Another example is Nina x everyone. No, not literally. She just has crushes that come and go ALL the time, and she flirts with everyone, so often to where no one questions it anymore. She had a Jeff arc and got over him and now she's living her life how SHE wants to. A few more include Nurse Ann x Judge Angels, Hobo Heart x Cody/X-Virus, Lost Silver x Glitchy Red, Jason the Toymaker x The Puppeteer, and Kate x Rogue. I have many more, but for now, I'm gonna explain the ones already listed since a few might seem really random. For Angels and Ann, Im just gonna admit, I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers or people who act like they hate each other but they secretly love each other deep down. For Hobo and Cody, in my au, they're both huge loners, and we're paired in a mission once. It was very awkward but the more they talked the more they realized they had a lot in common. I love them. Theres more lore to the reason I've paired Silver and Red together, but to sum it up, Silver had a massive crush on Ben, but Ben has his eyes set on Jeff and didn't return the feelings, and I didn't want Silver to be sad and alone his whole life, plus, they're dynamic is adorable. Sad pessimistic person x person who has seen whats under the sadness and admires them anyways. For Jason and Puppeteer, i saw a cosplay with them on tiktok and I couldn't help myself, I caved immediately. And lastly for Kate and Rogue I realized their characters have several things in common and I realized they'd probably get along pretty well.

Now, for side ships, I won't give an explanation, this ramble is already longer than planned. Im just gonna throw them out there with no context. EJ x Ben, Ben x Lost Silver, Nina x Kate, Tim x Brian, Tim x Jay, Jay x Alex(Yes some other marble hornet characters may be featured in the blog or in doodles), Jessica x Amy, Toby x EJ, Liu x Ben, and many MANY more, too many to state here.

Now that its out there, I wanna real quick talk about something I've reblogged a few days ago. Just because they're bad people who have done bad things, it doesn't mean they dont deserve love or happiness. Plus, the majority of these creeps were people who were wronged time and time again until they were pushed over the edge, it probably definitely wasn't something they had planned out since they were like 3. Now, despite this, some of them definitely aren't the best lovers to have, like Jeff, because again, these are murders and deranged killers. This is a super dark confession but theres A LOT of lore between Ben and Jeff in my au where things were AWFUL for them because Jeff couldn't get a grip on himself for the longest time. He's not like that anymore, and things are MUCH better for the both of them, but they definitely had an era in their relationship where things were beyond toxic. Beyond toxic as in Jeff was incredibly abusive, physically and mentally, and had a MAJOR alcohol addiction, and even proceeded to get Ben addicted to drugs at some point, sometimes going as far as raping him when he did not give consent. I won't give away too many details, but I will say, again, this is in the past and they've both healed over their traumas and managed to get through it together, and are in a much better state(A lot of breaking up and getting back together happened throughout this 'toxic era' though, and even after healing, theres still minor problems that I will not elaborate, they will be found out throughout the blog and maybe hints in some doodles.) But this is a good example of what a realistic relationship in this fandom with Jeff might look like. But just because people are deranged and definitely not mentally stable, it doesn't mean they can't try to change, and it definitely doesn't mean they dont deserve love unless they're as bad as Jeff was but with no intentions to change.

Im always happy to further explain any of this, but I will not tolerate harassment for the things I like. But anyways yeah thats my whole thing on ships im gonna go cry over my broken apple pencil now

I'm always shouting from the rooftops to anyone who will listen about Cinnamon and Honey (Joel Miller x selectively mute!Reader) by @batsingotham - There aren't words to describe how much I love Joel in this fic. It feels like being a part of the game. Joel and Ellie's relationship melts my heart and fixes so much and give me everything I ever wanted for them.

Quite literally anything by @sweetly-yours-and-mine but specifically:

The Dress (Marc Spector x Reader) - Perfect Marc, perfect characterization of Marc. Maria's prose and characterization is just perfect.

this untitled drabble (single dad!Marc Spector x Reader) - Marc as a single father healed me and broke me. Again, the most beautiful beautiful writing. I can only hope to write with this much talent some day.

Waters (Layla El-Faouly x Reader x Marc Spector) - Laylaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. She's so hot. That's all I have to say.

Everything @psychedelic-ink writes is a masterpiece but if I have to choose favorites that she's written its definitely:

Stay In Bed (Joel Miller x Reader, unrequited Tommy Miller x Reader) - which I desperately need to catch up but that is so well written and Tommy and Joel are both so fleshed out and interesting

Spitfire (Joel Miller x Tess Servopoulos) - the nuance and the backstory that Sil gives to Joel and Tess's relationship....unmatched.

Exile (Joel Miller x ofc June) - I think about this fic so often, it's the kind of beautiful brutal that really sticks with you. It's a favorite favorite, y'know.

I really should just link @ezrasbirdie's entire masterlist and call it a day, but again if I must choose:

Surrender (Joel Miller x ofc Daisy) - This series has my whole heart. I love everything about this series, its so well done and so fleshed out, and I don't want it to ever end so I've been savoring each chapter so slowly. Also, Daisy..........I'm in love with her. Daisy is actually my gf now, Joel can go somewhere else.

Going Slow (Javier Pena x Reader) - I adore Javi in this fic. It's so special to me and I go back to read it all the time.

Catalyst (Frankie Morales x Reader x Joel Miller) - This fic is a dream come true, that's all I have to say about it.

Cupcake (Jack "Whiskey" Daniels x Reader) by @ezrasbirdie and @haylzcyon - Car salesman Jack is something I never knew I needed but now I can't live without him.

More Than My Father's Son (Joel Miller x ofc Millie/Arrow) by @joels6string - Another series I desperately need to catch up on, but if you're looking for a fic that is specifically game!Joel Miller look no further than this fic. It's so special and it feels like you're right there in the middle of the game in Jackson. I love everything about Joel and Arrow, and the characterization of Joel is unmatched.

My foreverrrrr favorite Din series Beloved (Din Djarin x Reader) by @groguspicklejar Din is just so perfect in this series. I could go on forever about how much I love this story. Every single word is so loved by me.

I think everyone already knows about Homecoming (Santiago Garcia x Reader x Frankie Morales) by @astroboots but if you don't you need, need, to go give it a read.

In a Perfect World, You Love Me[i] and [ii] (Din Djarin x Reader) by @theidiotwhowritesthings - The pining? The angst? The love? The tiniest hint of jealousy? Chef's kiss from start to finish with such amazing payoff for a two parter.

room for three (Arthur Morgan x Reader x Joel Miller) by @morning-star-joy - this fic gave me everything. It made all my pixel cowboy dreams come true. If you love Joel but you haven't heard about the delight that is Arthur Morgan, this is the perfect introduction to him. And it's just....super hot. Who doesn't love smutty cowboys?

obsessed aka the dorm room au (Marc Spector x Reader) by @juneknight - It's just. So hot. Melts the brain and leaves you wanting more.

sunshine state (Benny Miller x Reader) by @brewsterispunkk - Benny is my dream boy in this. I love him and everything about this series.

My favorite Jake fic, that I still think about on the regular is dlz (Jake Lockley x Reader) by @ichorai - I love everything about the way Jake is portrayed here. He's so special to me.

Desynced

So I really like Desynced.

Strictly speaking, it doesn't 100% fit what I was talking about in my Homestuck manifesto, since it's technically a Homestuck fan adventure rather than a brand new work.

However…for a fanwork, it feels more like a new piece of Homestuckian art than many others I've seen?

I'm reminded of an old Hussie formspring response, where the question was about what would happen if siblings living in the same house played SBURB. Hussie's response was that one shouldn't try to solve this with the rules of Homestuck, but instead imagine the kind of story and plot that would suit such a scenario.

Desynced is like that - playing by its own rules. A lot of other fan adventures feel too stuck (ha) in adhering to the rules of SBURB and Paradox Space. Desynced is quite literally playing an entirely different game. It lets go of so much about the way a fan story is traditionally conceived, and brings in its own set of laws and ideas that fit its own story better.

Some things I like, in no particular order:

-The depiction of parents and children - Desynced knocks this out of the park by splitting the difference between faceless authority figures and relatable kids by playing with perception and letting the parents talk to each other as adults, even when they're faceless to their kids. There is some really phenomenal parent-child content here. The relationship between Kate and her father, for instance, is fraught and filled with missed conversations that break my heart

-That in 2024, everybody in the main group gets to be queer and trans from the very start

-That the protagonist kids are Zoomers, and we see that their interests tend not toward 80s movies but things like Minecraft and Discord chats

-That we seem to be building towards a "war in heaven" theme, where different members of the future gods and Carapacians will take different sides in a cosmic struggle

-The music, which is full of bangers and feels like the sequel to the Homestuck bandcamp page that I never knew I needed

-The total reimagining of Jack Noir, which seems like it shouldn't work, but totally does

-The genius way that the game's equivalent of Denizens tie into weird cosmic mysteries

-Alien kids who appear at first glance to be trolls but are quickly revealed to not be trolls at all (maybe they're tieflings)

-The way in this universe, Trollsonas only exist in connection to an obscure game called Hiveswap

-The fact that the fantasy land inhabitants, the equivalent of consorts, are more fleshed out and have their own lives going on instead of just being silly animals - which hints that we're taking 'their existence more seriously and sincerely.

-That when Desynced does "play the Homestuck hits," it reminds you of how good those narrative structures are. Examples include:

Ordinary internet friend group discovers they are all interconnected and inveigled in a vast conspiracy

Making sense of the rules of a confusing alternate gamey-reality that suggests a sense of purpose but doesn't give you instructions for achieving it

Oh, and also, you have to do this while the world is ending and you're about to die

Villain narrator makes fun of you, the reader

Alien kids interrupt your game session to ramble at you about how they know much more about the game than you do, but it turns out they're just a tiny bit ahead and they're as confused about most things as you are

Ascending to godhood helps you redefine your identity but also causes as many problems as it solves

It's like, woah, Homestuck was really cooking, wasn't it?

We're all so used to the Homestuck plot structures and conventions that I think it's very easy to lose sight of why we fell in love with it in the first place. Reading Desynced made me remember how much I love the premise of Homestuck. Desynced achieves this by detaching from convention and focusing on Homestuck's themes: parent-child relationships, the limitations of one's ideology, the double-edged sword of finding identity in fantasy, and more.

So yes, Desynced is a Homestuck fanwork. But if we're asking where a Homestuck literary movement might go in the future, Desynched offers us a really neat glimpse of part of the answer.

3ish Years Later

Quinn sat by himself on the edge of the dock watching the waves roll over the water. He found he needed more time to himself when family and friends arrived at the house. They were all here for the memorial they held every year for the past few years. And like always, Quinn was having a hard time processing the death of one of his oldest bestest friends and one of the greatest persons he knew. This is not how he imagined this situation turning out.

If he hadn’t gotten Y/N pregnant in the first place. She wouldn’t have gotten sick and he wouldn’t be missing his brother. Quinn never regretted his child, nor did he blame the baby. He just missed his brother.

Quinn raced Y/N to the hospital. The day finally came that someone died who just so happened to be a match to Y/N and now she could get the heart she so desperately needed in order to survive. His prayers had been answered.

“Hey, what are you guys doing here?” He noticed his parents waiting in the lobby of the hospital. Something was amiss. He hadn’t had the chance to inform anyone of the great news and yet they were here. “Mom. Dad. What’s going on?”

“I’m sorry sweetie.” His mother broke down in sobs. He had never heard his mother cry in his life.

“What happened? Where’s Luke and Jack?”

“Quinn, there was an accident. It was bad. Luke’s in surgery and Jack.”

“No. Fuck. No.”

“Jack’s dead.”

Every ounce of happiness left him when he realized exactly where Y/N’s new heart was coming from. Why did fate have to be so cruel that it needed to take the life of his little brother in order to save the life of the person he loved the most? It wasn’t fair.

“Hey. Whatcha thinking about?” Y/N brought him out of reliving that terrible day for the thousandth time. He must have been taking too long down by the water and she was sent to reel him back into the group.

“Nothing.” He placed his hand over his now wife’s protruding belly. Y/N knew he was lying. She figured he was thinking about that day again. The day Jack died so she could live.

“I miss him too. Even though I literally have a piece of him in my chest. I hate the fact that I can’t talk to him everyday. And I really don’t like how our babies will have to grow up without really getting to know their Uncle Jack.”

“You can talk to me if you want. I know he was your best friend, but he was like a brother to me.” She spoke out again when Quinn didn’t respond. She knew her husband was silently grieving. But she wanted to be there for him. “Please.”

Y/N pulled Quinn closer to her, guiding his head toward the scar on her chest so he could hear her heart beating, his brother’s heart beat. She found it was often something that calmed him when he was in a mood like this.

“Where’s Theo?” Quinn quietly piped up as he continued to stare out at the calm water listening to the thump thump of the heart.

“He’s back at the house. Trevor and Luke found an old pair of rollerblades and are trying to teach him. He’s a natural.” She tried bringing a little joy to his mood, but wasn’t getting through.

“I know what we should name this little bean.” Y/N thought out loud. She had known the gender of the baby for a little while now, but since Quinn didn’t want to know until the child was born, she elected to keep it quiet.

“That’s perfect.” Quinn grinned, it was probably one of the best ways to get back a part of what he lost that day.

“Mommy had my baby?” Theo skipped along holding Quinn’s hand. The new addition to their little family arrived the previous day. Everything went swimmingly this time. Y/N wasn’t sick, her heart was beating strong. Now it was time to introduce Theo to his new baby brother.

“Yeah. Remember what we talked about Theo. We need to be gentle and quiet. The baby is sleeping right now.” Quinn reminded the 5 year old fragile and couldn’t play hockey yet.

“Mommy!” Theo squealed, forgetting what Quinn told him, as he climbed to sit next to Y/N. She was just finishing feeding him. “Is that him?”

“Yeah. This is your baby brother Jack.” Quinn watched as Theo leaned over to place a kiss on top of the baby’s head. From that moment he knew his boys were going to be best friends, like he had been with his brothers.

ik a lot of you readers like to read our smut fics/porn fics, but those writers, also talking abt only getting likes, instead of reblogs n interactions from those types of works as well is just so depressing that im starting to have this growing idea of what some to most readers are in tumblr

LIKES is like deafening SILENCE for us writers, crickets, ghosts, an eerie dark night.

LIKES arent similar to instagram, tiktok and other platforms. it is DIFFERENT in this platform. they dont mean jack shit.

LIKES are like a hit and dip shit scenario. one night stand, loveless sex, meaningless encounters.

i've seen so much amazing fics, nsfw or sfw have over almost 9k interactions, then i look to the reblogs count and see only a whopping 500 or so like THE FUCK? SCUSE ME? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT RATIO?

if you're apart of the "ooh! i genuinely like this!" then only press like—thank you, truly. we're glad you like our work, to gain your interest and your silent support, but i want to inform you simply liking doesn't help us in a technical sense, it doesn't help our blog, our reach, it doesn't help our blog grow.

and if you're one of the blogs who only likes, i genuinely don't know what's so trifling and difficult about reblogging and adding the pre-made tags for you to spam and get it over with. i do it and its so, so fucking easy.

i genuinely, genuinely don't understand the analogy as to why you can't just... press that helpful ass button beside the heart. please, someone, enlighten me behind the reasoning.

god, i remember in full detail the day where i wrote my first story, it had only 200 interactions max, and most of them were only likes and a few reblogs, but my inbox was full of positivity, mixed in with a few shitty ones, but i pressed on because of SAID INTERACTIONS AND MY LOVE FOR WRITING.

to my mutuals and other writers; i fucking love you and your stories so much, sfw or not, the writing community has done so much for me mentally, and lots of fics have been healing me. god its my first time releasing such emotions into this blog, but yea, ive just had it from the amount of turmoil ppl have been causing into all of you, outside tumblr or not.

Hello, my name is Lane! I've been known to call myself a jack of all trades, but my heart's been set on authorship since the tender age of two.

Now, while my lifespan development textbooks like to call that premature identity foreclosure, I call it a dream. I'm creating this blog to archive my past and future works. What can initially be expected is a lot of poetry as well as some short prose pieces. The goal has always been to eventually work up to brick-length novels, but lately all I've got is poems pouring out of my ears. I'm composing them in my sleep. A lot of what I've written so far is about chronic pain, sapphism, transitional experiences, childhood, and trauma. Not every poem or prose piece is meant to be taken as a literal reflection of something that happened to me, but a lot of what I've written over the last few years have been in order to process my experiences. I find that I communicate best in rhetorical devices than in ordinary speech. This is extra funny (an inside joke to myself) because I spent the first fourteen years of my life as a self-declared poetry hater, despite my life long declaration of wanting to write. There were several things that caused me to reevaluate this stance, the primary three being: 1) If I didn't graduate high school I was never getting out of that horribly isolated, middle of nowhere town. 2) Writing was the only thing I knew I could be passionate about both in a personally fulfilling way, but also in a work way. Now, the only way I could successfully do that would be by forcing myself to engage with the entire other half of it I'd convinced myself I hated out of inadequate education. 3) Reading Maya Angelou's book, Poems (1981). We were given a large analysis project of one poet's whole collected works (or the closest edition we could find) and I chose Angelou because I remembered an excerpt from I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (1969) being read aloud to my 7th grade class. It was her rhythm, rhetorical depth, and her humor that reformed my entire approach to the genre. I can't thank her enough.

"So," one might be asking, "Where does The Peach With Teeth fit into this, though?" And ohohohoh! The Peach With Teeth is several things. Primarily, I spent five months painstakingly embroidering it to be the cover of a hand-bound poetry chapbook. At this point, however, I'm thinking more of a compendium for the amount of poems I have, and for how many I'll write before I learn how to book bind. So, in that meantime the Peach is the cover of this blog.

The Peach is also a poem that I wrote in September of 2022, which is included below. That peach was deprived of teeth, tongue, and uvula, but had a more grounded horror within.

The Peach

I rinse the fuzz off, gently In the sink. The skin is a sunset of yellow, Magenta, pink. The first bite is honey sweet, The flesh slippery, My teeth peel away the skin I eat.

A bitter taste begins in my periphery And I see brown spreading around, Like a core. The tender sweet flesh peels away From its darkened sore.

Disgust rises in my body but I persist I eat the dripping good parts, I eat until the bad parts come too And they come veined with blue The pit itself, peeled back Is dusted with mold.

The poem is both a literal thing that happened—I did eat a moldy peach even though I saw an off patch on its skin and I could have stopped—also a metaphor. It's about seeing the signs that this won't end well, but needing another bite of sweetness to satiate that ache. It's about overconfidence and ignoring one's instincts. After a long while of hunger, the bitterness gets easier to ignore. That Peach and the Peach With Teeth, and many other Peaches can be expected to appear in my work. It's not my fault, I swear: my family had a peach tree in the backyard growing up. And if you, my darling reader, haven't tasted a sun-warmed peach right off the branch in late summer: I'm so sorry. The ones in the grocery store just don't compare when they're picked early to be shipped across country and thusly chemically ripened. They never get so thoroughly sweet through injected ethylene as by sunlight. It's only the skin that turns pink and softens, with the inside remaining hard, crisp, off-yellow. That these peaches are the only kind I can eat now, meaning I don't eat peaches, are part of what informed the teeth. Finally, the Peach With Teeth and her cousin The Peach poem have to be acknowledged for their sensual, even sexual, elements. 7/10 friends who I have shown The Peach With Teeth to have said "that looks like a vulva." Now, this was utterly unintentional, but when all your pretty queer friends say it enough times, you start to give up examine the metaphor closer. It's been said often that peaches and this girl right here 🍑 are used as euphemisms for the vulva/vagina. Now, when people are reduced to just their genitals, that's objectification. Not to say that the euphemism always is, as I can imagine some sappy sapphic love note tucked to sleep on a shelf somewhere. When I designed my embroidery pattern, I chose teeth for a core because of the utter contrast between the soft sweet flesh and the hard bone-bite of a chipped tooth. I was imagining it biting back and drawing blood. This is where my accident, the final image reading far more sensually than originally planned, synthesizes the ideas that have been rolling around in my head this whole time. It's about visceral misperception, of leaning to close to the lantern's gentle glow only for the grinning monster holding it to bite your head clean off. It becomes a euphemism flipped on its head: no more soft, sweet, hairless, harmless peaches. What we've got are teeth and tongues, a jaw unhinged but ready to snap right down at any time. Now, of course, to many of my 7/10 friends, this is still sexy.

I have been trying to understand why I was so disappointed with the Supernatural finale. After all, being a writer myself, I wouldn’t like anyone telling me how to write the climax to my story, and therefore, I more than the average viewer should have been able to respect the freedom of the writers and showrunners to take their story to what they believed to be the right conclusion.

The problem, I realized is that every story has a structure that it has to follow to get it to make sense, even the ones that are not overtly formulaic.

So I looked at a few beloved older shows that I watched through the seasons and understand what made their endings more palatable.

The Mentalist – Like supernatural, The Mentalist is not a show about romance; it is a police procedural show, with a murder solved by the team in each episode, and more importantly it is about Jane’s obsession and quest for revenge from the serial killer Red John and finally the journey towards Jane’s catharsis. But as the characters evolved, Jane and Lisbon’s equation changed from friendship to something more, very organically I would say, and the show ends with them together and even expecting a baby – a satisfying happy ending that works thanks to not just Jane’s character growth but Lisbon’s as well.

House MD – Again, not a show about romance or even friendships. It’s a hospital show and a ‘medical procedural’, that unlike Grey’s Anatomy and similar shows, is almost fully focused on the titular character. The showrunners have spoken about how House and Wilson were inspired by Conan Doyle’s Holmes and Watson. During all the ups and downs over the seasons, their friendship remains the heart of the series, and while the pairing was wildly popular in the fandom, with slash fiction being written prolifically even now, ten years after the show ended, the showrunners chose to keep the relationship platonic. As the characters were introduced as canonically straight, the writers probably did not dare take a wild leap to sexual intimacy on the show, despite the immense popularity of the pairing. However, we see the characters falling out and getting back together, thereby strengthening their bond, and the protagonist, a self-professed selfish and ‘bastard’ character, giving up on everything that meant anything to him, and driving off into the sunset with his best friend aka the person who is most important to him, again satisfying though bittersweet.

Elementary – Yet another police procedural. Most people read Sherlock and Joan’s relationship as platonic, a change from the shipping heavy pairings. Here too, the show ends with the two friends taking steps to becoming platonic-life partners after all the turmoil and physical dangers they faced over the series.

Now, in Supernatural, the story demanded a happy or at least a bittersweet ending. Why? Because of the death, resurrection, pain, literal hellfire, loss of loved ones that Sam and Dean went through, only a happy ending makes sense, and heaven, that is canonically in the control of manipulative angels is not a happy ending at all, unlike say ‘The Good Place’.

If I were to take the story to its logical conclusion, the finale would have both brothers taking the call to be semi-retired. Sam and Eileen would probably set up a Hunters Headquarters in the Men of Letters bunker. Dean would either start a Roadhouse-style bar named after Ellen and Jo or an Auto restoration business for classic cars named after Bobby. A full blown romantic relationship between Dean and Cas wouldn’t work so late in the game. So, again a platonic life partner setup, that’s open for interpretation, with Dean, Cas and Jack buying a farm where Claire and the rest of the found family frequently visit them. 

So the brothers would find stability and “the peace when you’re done” that we were promised. Dean and Cas, as both soldiers with a fair amount of PTSD, would help each other on the path to healing. Sam would never get out of hunting as he wanted at the start, but a semi-retired approach would give that to him partially, and let him indulge in research that makes sense for his academic type personality. 

The final shot would be of the brothers in the backyard of dean’s farm, drinking beer, finally at peace, not just with the world, but with each other, as having their own support system in the form of found family, and their own space would let them get over the annoyance of constantly living in each other’s pockets, forever on the road, with no control over their destiny and mistrustful of each other. We were so robbed of this – a logical, meaningful bittersweet ending that made sense for these beloved characters.

First of all, just because he is the fairest of them all and likes to take care of his appearance, does not mean he be bitchy with those of a different style from his. Take Epel for example, Vil is not trying to change him 💀💀 He is trying to teach Epel to not fall into the “masculine man are the toughest ones”, he wants to show his son Epel that you can be a pretty masculine boy and not act as toxic masculine man.

Pluss, he tries to help others achieve his goals just like he did 🥲🥲 Even if when growing up was to be said mistreated

Secondly, talking about him and Epel, his relationship in general with what it was shown with others First years are so fartherly :,(( like??? is so adorable… Addition: He would DEF be a great father, I hate those people who say he wouldn’t. Vil’s father was an actor/model and from what I remember Vil only says nice things about him. Vil sure has a short schedule, but it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t try at maximum to squeeze his s/o and kid into participating of his life.

Third, I feel like we can understand that Neige tries to be friends with Vil, but he doesn’t actually seem to understand Vil (not Neige’s fault rlly, but needed to comment that) but generally I don’t blame Vil for not wanting to be friends with Neige, like, they ARE rivals on their jobs

ALSO, like Vil NEVER gave up on his dreams, even after so many side/villains roles

AND I WILL FOREVER ALWAYS LOVE VIL BREAKING GENDER ROLES NORMS, and people who say he is transgender really skipped through the story ://

In general he is the fairest of them all, not just by appearance but because he does have a good personality but a sweet heart (specially after chapter 5 and chapter 6)

YEAHHH honestly I feel that when people say Vil is mean they only read book 5 and read it very poorly, bc Vil is a very strict person to his dorm members and the people at SDC, but that's just because he wants them to be the best version of themselves and not give up! He's actually extremely kind and so nice to people around him, even the prefect, and all of that makes him suchhh a contrast to Leona — I will literally never not shut up about Savanaclaw sorry.

While both Leona and Vil didn't get what they want and don't seem to ever be able to get there (well, more on Leona's case bc he literally was born second while Vil can still do his best to achieve his goal) instead of sitting around and giving up Vil seems to aspire to get better and better and to not fall behind! It really shows how him and Jack also get along so well bc both of them are extremely determined and goal oriented! — also this is once again not to say that Leona is lazy in any way, we went over that my guy has problems lmao

I might not hold Vil as one of my favorites but I do admire him a lot and low-key think it would be an honor to have him as a housewarden pls Pomefiore accept me

Go to the beach, lay in the sun shade and the ocean all afternoon doing literally nothing except being with my friends, then once the sun starts to go down we head to the other side of the boardwalk and go see a show. This is also why Sea Hear Now and Adjacent Fest are so close to my heart because they are festivals ON THE BEACH and it’s everything.

15) five most influential books over your lifetime

Cosmos by Carl Sagan. Always my go to recommendation. Made me fall in love with the universe again

…look we know the author sucks but Harry Potter was a huge part of my childhood and DID shape how I grew up, I can’t lie and say it wasn’t influential. It was! (But also, fuck JKR and my money is indeed not going to HP things anymore)

The Uglies series also really blew my mind as a kid. I’ve retained not much of it, but I feel its impact more than like. Know it. If that makes sense. Idk that might be dumb. Whatever.

Space Opera by Catherynne Valente has the most profound page and a half of text on what it means to have a soul that I have ever read, in the middle of a book about Intergalactic Eurovision For The Survival Of Humanity. Shit is WILD and I think about it all the time. (If I can find the photos I took I’ll post in a RB)

“People who identified with Jack from the Magic Tree House series as a kid” << not just because that tiktok plays rent free in my head. But also because it was the first book series I remember DIVING into and reading every book of it I could get my hands on. It taught me to love reading

DAY 5: JANUARY 31, 2024 (i got to start reading more consistently.)

STATS: read for ~3 hrs pages read: 1052-1359. 307 pgs. act 4! slur count: 8 + 1 = 9 (john r slur on 1 of his defaced posters) silly count: 11 + 0 = 11 (i might have missed some. to be honest) piss count: 1/3

THOUGHTS: today started with john's alchemizing spree! i really like the alchemy even though i can NOT understand how the binary and codes quite work. john does though. johns really smart about alchemy in sburb specifically. this section also has a lot of funny john faces. i love this guy

FINALLY the end of dave and bros strife! jesus! been 2 sessions sicne it started! i said this last time but i think its SO INTERESTING how bro doesnt cut or stab dave in any way during the strife. they clash and lil cal gets torn up and daves sword gets 1/2ed and daves SYMBOL gets scratched but when hussie shows dave after the fight hes winded and bruised and battered but hes NOTABLY NOT BLOODY! obviously being bruised cus youre FIGHTING! you kjnow what drives me crazy. the ACTUAL REAL TIMELINE of the intermission. or at least what it means for the rest of the comic. obviously the intermission is foreshadowing (esp when slick gets his eye and arm cut off; mentioning lord english; etc) but like. its MORE. when i first read homestuck i was under the impression that the intermission was just some other timeline in some universe. granted i dont remember slicks eye and arm getting nixed or karkat vantas reveal or lord english mention or anything that foreshadows anything. but NO! its NOT some other timeline! but it IS another universe. its ALTERNIA!!!!!!!!!!!

the story of jack noir (spades slick) as i know it is as follows: jack noir spawns in derse ==> commits a crime (probably shittalking the queen) ==> gets exiled to... um. somewhere. ==> i assume he meets karkat here? and stabs him. and karkats blood is revealed and then theyre friends ==> slick (now scurrilous straggler) is left on the green moon? exiled in rags ==> he builds a city ==> the felt's mansion is there also. they form gangs and become rivals ==> intermission starts; midnight crew infiltrates lord english's lair to get the vault prizes ==> slick goes in the vault and begins commanding karkat. if im wrong about any of this correct me im so curious

okay here it is my true toxic ofmd opinion:

i just think calico jack is neat. i don't love him (have you seen him????) but he is narratively just so fucking neat, and also as a character so fucking neat, because every time you look at him after watching episode eight you have to wonder: how much of this is an act? how much of this is calico jack, performer, in much the same way that edward teach is a natural performer?

because in episode eight we see ed performing the role of 'blackie', wild young pirate extraordinaire, and i've talked about his social chameleoning and how ed plays the roles that he needs to play at any given time, this is a man who is almost never being his most genuine self at any one time but the thing is: we meet calico jack when he is *also* performing a role. he is performing the role of calico jack, wild young pirate extraordinaire. he is very explicitly not being his most genuine self, because he is being the version of himself that can most aggravate stede AND most reassure ed that absolutely nothing about him has changed since the last time they saw each other.

so in much the same way that we don't really ever get to meet edward teach, whole person (though we see a very honest version of him for like a minute in episode 10 before everything goes horribly wrong), we never actually meet calico jack being just calico jack.

and this fascinates me, because the man that we see in calico jack is the wildest version of a pirate frat boy, hazing and laughing and all testosterone and rum fueled wild antics, all the while cleverly manipulating his old shipmate/good friend buddy pal person who he would risk his life for but who he absolutely doesn't have an emotional attachment to because those are gross and weak and weird (aka a fucking friend jack) as well as stede and the entire crew, all the for the explicit sake of saving ed's life.

the entire reason calico jack is out there on that ship causing havoc and being a big dick is because izzy hands got in touch with him to say that ed teach is out there in the direct path of the british fucking navy and he's going to go down if calico jack can't lure him away. and calico jack, a famous pirate in his own right, wanted by the british navy in his own right, goes. we don't ever hear that izzy offered up payment, so for all we know calico jack went out in a dinghy to pull ed from the line of danger for nothing more than the reward of his old shipmate not getting killed by the english.

and he calls izzy sentimental. izzy is at least going to get something out of this - izzy is going to get the revenge, and izzy is going to get stede dead. calico jack, as far as we can tell, is getting absolutely nothing out of this aside from ed's safety...

it's just fucking fascinating. he's such a dick. he's such a fucking dick, passive aggressive, callous with people's feelings and safety, manipulative, and literally dying because he's mad about his friend risking his life for some guy he thinks is a hack.

like, i genuinely think there's a chance he'll come back, just because there's so much potential for him to shed light on ed's past (and he has connections to other pirates that they might want to bring in, like anne bonny and mary read) but even if he doesn't, what we see in him shows is a man who's very much like ed - calculating, working the angles, performative, but the heart in him is hidden by the fact that he's a dick to characters we care about, particularly stede and killing karl - and yet, he's being a dick because he wants to make sure they get the hell out of there, him and blackbeard both, before the english come down on stede and his crew like the fist of god.

and its so interesting. it's fascinating. i don't like jack, but i see in him so much potential, and i'm not like. saying i think fandom needs to obsess over yet another white man, but i do think he's so interestingly twisted, in a way that's at once super toxic and yet utterly distinct from the other toxic mess of piracy in this show, whatever is going on with izzy hands.

Charming But Awkward

Deuce wasn't exactly introverted like you. In fact, he had never been able to put “names” to his own personality. He is open to talk when he should be but shy in other situations. In a way, he understands your feelings a little, like when you can't engage in a conversation and keeps quiet, probably wondering if you said something wrong;

Despite this, as you have always been kind to him and care about what he says, Deuce inevitably ended up falling in love with you. But how would he make you notice him? Show that he was a potential boyfriend as much as an honors student? Deuce spent days trying to think of what to do;

Since this doesn't always prove to work for him, Deuce decides to first do things naturally. He combines this with some advice from Trey, the most introspective kind of person he knows and wouldn't be shy about asking anything. Well, Trey isn't exactly shy but he knows what would help Deuce and you in this case; 

Among other things, Deuce always agrees with what you say to show support and confidence in your speech during conversations. In any doubt he has about a subject, you are the first person he asks;

You end up doing a lot of study sessions at the Ramshackle, which is a little less noisy than Heartslabyul — a place where everyone is relatively social and eccentric, in their own way. Deuce is very fond of accompanying you to your dorm and one of the reasons is because the antique furniture reminds him of his grandmother's house;

Deuce may not be a great comedian, but he likes your smile and knows how to make you laugh when you most need to. It helps a lot in your mood, especially when you're feeling down. Deuce is the first to notice this. He once blurted out that when you don't smile, the world loses its color and that's why he captures it so quickly;

Needless to say, those words generated a long moment of silence between you, Deuce trying to hide his beet red blush face with his hands while babbling gibberish and you looking away, your heart suddenly pounding. You could only think of the natural and subtle way Deuce said that, literally without thinking;

Deuce will always defend you if someone makes fun of you because of your lack of sociability or takes advantage of your shyness to do something. It doesn't make him very proud but, he knows exactly what bullies do to more shy people so a siren always sound on his head when someone makes a weird approach on you;

If you're not feeling well enough to shop, Deuce offers to do it for you and deliver to the Ramshackle. Of course, you know he won't be able to do it all the time but, his care is very touching. Even if he makes multiple calls to make sure he's picking the right things off the list, you know his intentions are good;

Talking more with you, Deuce began to understand more a world of which he never had much contact. He must have been a shy kid at first, until his life started to “shuffle” from pre-adolescence and continue on that path until he won the game. Jack always stays by your side when you get together in a group with others. If he makes any comments, it is usually in your direction and he pays close attention to your reply. He doesn't try to make you a highlight of the conversation but, if you happen to let something slip — quietly or loudly — he'll know and in his quiet way, show that he cares;

It could be said that Jack’s most reserved behavior came from his mother and some of it ended up passing to his younger brother as well. Because of this, he knows how to act normally with you and do things that you would probably enjoy — at least, if it were the other way around, Jack would enjoy it too;

When you don’t feel well enough to go out or do something, you end up staying by the Ramshackle and Jack is the first to support your decision, saying that a “time for yourself” is always good and healthy. His understanding is always welcomed by you. But if you happen to be tired of being alone and want someone calm to talk to, he will come in a minute;

Spending time with Jack is precisely the moment of tranquility you need. You can spend a whole hour in silence and it will still be worth it. In general, you read together or study. To your surprise, Jack gets very close to you. “A lot” in the sense of being more by your side than you would expect coming from him;

But not too close to the point of suffocating you. There is a comfortable closeness and a feeling of security that takes your heart every time you watch him read or do something. Sometimes you notice Jack try to look at you as subtly as he can and then look away, disguising it;

You couldn't help it — in fact, you didn't even want to try not to — to fall in love with Jack back. His way of doing things always puts you at ease and you feel safe to be yourself around him, even if you don't have much confidence in your conversational skills. Still, in conversation or in silence, you would always choose Jack to keep you company.

Speaking of? I love the ranchers and it’s not because the sole reason I got into ships which is usually right after the media when my wall gets full of art and fics and it’s because the fandom I usually start to ship. And not because I thought they were cute.

Hell honestly I barely knew Tango before Double Life. Like I knew who he was but literally never watched his content. I honestly was late on the bandwagon on both flower husbands (primarily because it seemed like everyone I knew shipped them and it was too much at the time and once I did ship them they decided that was end of offical content in empires 1) and Ranchers. (I do fancy me some flower husbands but at it’s height I was the person that refused to ship it because it was popular and everywhere lol)

The fans of ranchers were like slightly different in the way that it was like a less a tidal wave of content I saw and more them gushing how adorable they are. I Remeber literally my wall being full of like wishes and prayers for them to win (and we all know how that went.)

Anyways I started to watch them both. I never and I mean never rewatched the same two videos from both channels but I did with the ranchers. I never got into the MCYT shipping sphere more than liking art or maybe reading some fics my friends sent me. Like I said during 3rd life despite watching the flower husbands I was just lukewarm. It could be that I just hopped from dsmp and was a voice in techno chat which was like werid with shipping idk. I knew there was a solid shipping community ESSPECIALLY in dsmp and hermit fans.

I think what caught my eye was because how literally they never even knew each other that well but once they were forced to be soulmates it’s was so genuine and natural? Like it had a sort of easy going that I could dive into without knowing any of their history or inside jokes as a newbie with eyes that only knew Jimmy.

I knew Jimmy and his fanon by heart. So that’s why I was primarily interested in his pov. And Jimmy is bullied (affectionately) and that is well known by his fanbase. And how tango interacted with him was the complete opposite.

They legit didn’t know Jack about each other so both of them fell into their base selves and just decided to be each other hype men. And I find that beautiful and no wonder why this pairing held me by my neck. I AM always weak for pairings like this. And always go for chemistry because I’m ace as heck.

Soon I became another Rancher Fan praying and wishing for their win somehow. I Remember ranting to friends how this pairing could finally beat the canary curse. And I remember when they eventually didn’t.

I never ever felt so strongly about silly Homoromantic esque blockmen. And I Remeber how the fandom of the ranchers all collectively went into what is best called a media depression. But even after like a week all the creatives decided NO and dropped amazing fics and art. That whole week of buff Jimmy art LMFAO.

And how excited everyone was about the reunion (still can’t believe the whole literal hearts eyes in Tango POV. The mad lad my beloved)

And yeah that’s why I think they will always be my ship in MCYT and why I adore it in all its forms. Team Rancher was just awesome at its height. And I think I know why everyone is or was into flower husbands at the ship height if this gives me any hints.

Think of this like one big game of house

I mean you literally have this giant ass crib to lay in whenever he decides to drop on by and play house alongside the pale girl

And trust me when I say you WILL play house lest you be on the recieving end of the punishments

Don't worry about actually getting hurt though he could never 💗

Same goes for his very funny companion

The three of you will draw together (ignore that they're literally sticking their fingers into a guy's brain to get the color red to add to their crude childish drawing), play games together, and overall just have a ball (what do you mean you want them to leave you alone?)

You once witnessed them setting up jack-o-lanterns made from decapitated heads

You shut that down real quick and concinced them to throw it out with the threat of not being friends anymore

It's really the only leverage you have in this child-parent relationship

Now onto labels

I think Art would like to be called any variation of Mom just because he fits the role also it's absolutely hilarious to him and who are you to deny him his daily dose of laughs?

Speaking of laughs you might wanna move that roadkill from out of your actual bed before it starts to rot...(you duly note how it's dressed in a baby's onesie alongside a binky placed- no- shoved into its gaping mouth)

big agree on pete's book – it's an unreliable narrator who's not so much unreliable as he is an honestly bad person

im so sorry this got so long but this book is so weird and im so obsessed with it and i think ive thought about it every day for like ten years because i CANNOT figure it out. because its very clearly supposed to be a roman a clef because pete is a kerouac fanboy but pete lies about it because he knows most people are too stupid to understand what a roman a clef is.

but like on top of this i feel like the book is like very carefully crafted to subtly set certain things up, and it does certain stuff like it has the whole scene where hes trying to convince the audience his girlfriend is a cringy loud feminist complaining about like pretentious topics and nobody wants her at this party

and like i do not doubt pete would cringe if he saw this girl at a party so i think a lot of people read this and are like oh my god what a prick

but literally right before that hes at the psychiatrist and the psychiatrist tells him hes projecting all his insecurities on to his girlfriend, right? and right after someone punches him for coming to the party because nobody wants him there. and this book was written during a period where pete was talking in interviews about how tttyg was misogynistic and hes like grown as a person or whatever

but then ALSO , the scene repeatedly references the dharma bums by jack kerouac and theres a bit in the dharma bums where this girl who is a bit airheaded and crazy and thinks shes the buddha or whatever is like talking about what she thinks of certain writers and kerouac and all these guys are pretending to care about what she says because theyre about to run a train on her and in gray one of the guys is feeling her up while hes like pretending to listen to what she says which i think is supposed to be the implication here

and like to add on to the dharma bums reference the take this to your grave title is like kind of based in the dharma bums and the book like centers around take this to your grave thematically and THE QUOTE is FROM THE TRAIN SCENE and like i never got into kerouac so i cannot give an informed opinion on this but like everyone quotes his one friend as calling him misogynistic even for the time however the person who called him misogynistic is like beating women left and right in kerouacs books or whatever

and like i know this sounds crazy but this is probably on purpose because all of the other allusions in the book are very purposeful, like layla by derek and the dominoes is playing in the car when he drives to stand outside his girlfriends apartment at 3:30am and then wait for her to leave and see him during a manic episode and the song is like based on a folk tale about a guy who loves this girl and the dad wont let her marry him because hes nuts and then the girl is forced into marriage with someone else who like hits her or something dies of a broken heart AND ALSO its about like an affair eric clapton had with this girl and he was like obsessed with her yet treated her like shit whiccchhhhhh

and theres like a quick reference to william tecumseh sherman who was this civil war general who was widely considered to be nuts and he BFFs with ulysses s grant who was supposed to be a drunkard and they would like die for each other or whatever and thats pete and patrick to a T

So anyway back to the cringy feminist dharma bums scene theres like the straight reading that this is the memoir of a selfish little misogynistic emo prick and then theres like the layer of this being like a fictional novel thats self reflective and then theres like ??????? the third layer ?????????????
