I’ve meaning to send this ask for ages and finally found the courage to do so :) I started reading lionheart on a whim in the beginning of November and since them after reading everything a couple of times, all I can say is that it is a masterpiece. I am so in love with your writing, especially with how you give Draco the space to be gracious and grow up. I love for example when they are in the Slytherin common room and Draco see for himself that the mermaids are sentient beings just like him. Also, I am completely enamored with the golden quartet (?), the relationships between them feel much more balanced, and I have so much love for Harry, Hermione, and Ron. I do think you does the characters justice, if not written in a better and more honest, human way. Btw, I love your Narcisa because I am such an apologist for her and her crimes. (If Narcisa has million fans, then I'm one of them. If Narcisa has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE. If Narcisa has no fans, that means I'm dead.). This also aplies for hermione. Anyway, all I am trying to do is to put into words what the world you design means to me, but alas I do not seem to have. When the time comes for my unborn children to read the Harry Potter series, I am showing them your books and telling them it is canon.

Now that I am done showering you with complements, I have a couple of questions. First, after reading the last chapter (which I adored), the fight between Draco and Sirius, one of my favorite moments, kept coming to mind. Was it intentional for Draco to give such honest wake up call for Theo basing himself from the talk he had with Sirius years ago? Secondly, I am not sure with you already answer this, if so, feel free to tell me, but if you could choose Poet, Soldier or King for each – Draco, Harry, Hermione, and Ron – which one would they be?

Thank you, my friend! This is a completely lovely ask, and as I often do with lovely asks, I've hoarded it for a while to re-read whenever I want a nice treat. However, I've left the question unanswered long enough.

If we're going to do the Soldier/Poet/King test, I want to complicate it a little. You can either do it by personality (the way we do when we say "I'm soldier!" or "I'm poet!") or you can do it by narrative role, i.e. what you actually do in the context of the story. Those can be different. For instance, you can be a poet-coded soldier (your chosen weapon is your word, but you're pushed by your circumstances to fight), or a soldier-coded king (you carry a mighty sword, but you're forced off the battlefield to rule, i.e. you want to fight but you can't). That opens up the range of ways to fill the role. So it's like:

Obviously, the central axis here is going to be the most satisfied/content with their lot in life, but there's a broad range of happinesses.

If you ask me, Harry is a poet-coded king, because he's incredibly reluctant to take leadership, and he doesn't want anyone to fight for him. He runs away in Deathly Hallows because he can't stand to be at the center of a war (which is going to happen anyway) and has only accepted Ron and Hermione's sacrifice begrudgingly. It's also worth saying that Harry's best moments come when he's trying to talk someone down: he's telling Remus to go back to Tonks, he's telling Slughorn to preserve Lily's memory by being noble for her sake, he's telling Riddle to "try for remorse." Harry is at his best when he's giving consolation and understanding, not when he's fighting; his signature spell is Expelliarmus. Kid's not a soldier. And he hates the idea of being a king. (This is, not coincidentally, one of the unhappiest combinations.)

I read Ron as a true soldier, not because he enjoys fighting, but because that's almost always his knee-jerk reaction to conflict, and it's also where a lot of his strengths lie. Ron is brash and bold and he will swing if you step to him, and that's why people love him (or hate him, if they do). Even in his best moments, when he's being a strategist and tactician, he's employing his skills in the service of battle. And the narrative is happy to put him in positions where that's the skill he has to contribute. He thinks of the basilisk fangs and the house-elves in the kitchens; he's good at tactics, but he doesn't do broad-strokes strategy.

Hermione is king-coded soldier, because I think in a different series of novels, she is absolutely the protagonist, and she kind of thinks she should be. She's proactive, driven, clever, and calculating, and she orders people around like she's the boss of them — usually with good reason, but she still does. She sees herself as the HBIC, and she often gets a bit irritated when other people don't jive with that idea. It's funny how often Harry gets along by just doing what Hermione tells him. That being said, her narrative role is being sworn in Harry's service, and as the books go on, she increasingly embraces that. She defends him and offers to risk her life for him, sacrifices volumes (her parents!!) and compromises her safety (gets tortured!) for his sake, all without complaining or seeming to begrudge Harry at all. He's her king; she's his knight. Which is another way of saying soldier.

Draco is a poet-coded soldier, or possibly a poet-coded king, depending on what direction you take his arc from the source material. In the books, he's kind of a flop, God bless him, he doesn't really manage much in the final days of the war. Besides refusing to identify Harry (after identifying both of Harry's well-known travel companions... booboo you tried), he's basically fit for neither use nor ornament from Book 6 onward. But taken more broadly, he is someone who absolutely does not want to be here — he doesn't want to fight, he doesn't want to be in danger, he doesn't want to risk people — getting conscripted forcibly into a conflict that was running for years before he was born. And he's conscripted, like Harry, because of his heritage; it's a position he was born into. Depending on how you read his relationship to power, and having it, he can either be a soldier or a king, or someone teetering on the cusp between them.

#i've deliberately leaned into their canon characterizations here to avoid spoilers #but I don't think they're fundamentally different in LH #I think of LH as just... sitting down at the DJ booth and changing the mixing #also by the way you never ever have to apologize for your English to me. Out of the sea, wish I could be, part of your world.

Yay it's finally done! I'm so glad. Here's the concepts for The Little Mermaid cream cross over.

So as a basic run down, this Dream is the Brother of Prince Nightmare from the Beauty and the beast cross over. Both these storys will fit into the same universe, which I've nicknamed FairyDreamtale. As dumb as that is.

Basically Nightmare was sent away while Dream was ill because of his selfish and cold behaviour and ended up getting cursed. Dream, at this current point in time has no memory or him, the curse wiped out all memories of the people under it to the outside world. So until its broken, Dream won't really remember having a brother.

A basic version of Cross' story is that he's a siren (which is different to a normal merfoke) who lost his parents at the young age. After finding his way to the mer-city he was taken in by the Royal family (which epic is a part of). Over the years, Cross grew up rejected by the other mermaids, who feared him for what he was, this is what led him to want to seek something else, and be part of a different world, because he wanted to find a family.

Cross has been going up to the surface over and over through the years and has collected bits and bobs, the locket being his first piece. He kind of has a crush on Dream from seeing him sometimes over the years. But it's also part just admiring the Prince for the kind way he acts.

And you know how it goes, one day there is a storm and Cross saves Dream from drowning. He realises that he truly wants to live on land. He wants to he a guard to the Prince so that he can protect him. So he ends up making a deal with the sea witch.

The conditions of this deal is very different to the one in the original movie. He's not given a time limit and he doesn't have to get Dream to kiss him.

Basically his determination is what will make the spell work. So long as he is determined, he will keep his legs. But if he loses his determination, he'll turn back into a siren and will belong to the witch.

After thinking it through Cross trades his voice for the spell and is given legs. He's found by Dream on the beach and is taken back to the castle, because he looks ship wrecked.

Over time he becomes good friends with the Prince (and falls in love with him). He is also able to demonstrate a good skill for fighting and begins training to be a guard to the Prince (this takes place over months, like I said, no time limit)

But things aren't all good.

Much like in the oldest, original version of the story, Cross has to deal with a horrible consequence to having legs. Every single step he takes will be painful. It will feel as though a knife was stabbing his foot every step. The only time he gets relief is when his feet are submerged in water, other then that there is no way to stop the pain.

Cross choses to soldier on though it all. He is determined after all. But how long can he keep determined for?

do you have any movie recs for people who want to get into horror but are nervous about it? i wanna get into the genre but specific and excessive kinds of gore freaks me out (i esp have a weird thing about throat slitting and stuff like that but yeah sorry ajslgdjlsa)

aaa ok hello! thank u for ur patience, I absolutely have some recs for u if you still want them!!!! btw the first few r gonna be ones I already covered in my freaky movie list, so sorry for repeats if u already looked at that post!

(also, this list is probs gonna be a bit different than most "beginner horror" lists online, cause I'm mostly gonna be thinking of movies I don't remember being very graphic, rather than thinking up "movies for beginners". cause tbh I feel like the best way to get into a genre is to just jump into it and try it out, see what sub-genres and tones u prefer, and go from there. rather than just being like, """omg u NEED to see [over-hyped franchise movie] FIRST or else ur not a Real horror fan uwuw"""". also I'll make sure to give u a good range of horror here, some of these r gonna be lighthearted and some of these r gonna be actually-scary, and some of these r gonna be psychological)

what we do in the shadows - vampire mockumentary, there's some blood but iirc nothing major? some werewolves in wolf form get hurt tho, if animal injury bugs u too. that said, it's a comedy so, like, def an easy watch

the blair witch project - very suspenseful shaky cam found footage horror. has a great build and scary climax, and absolutely no gore at all iirc. I don't think there's even any blood in this one

carrie - supernatural coming of age movie with a very sympathetic lead. there's a fair amount of blood (also pigs blood) in it, and a fair amount of deaths, but I can't recall any actual gore

the addams family - family friendly comedy horror. I think there's some violence in the form of dark humor but this is another one where I really can't even recall any blood (tho it's been a while so I can't prommy for sure)

bram stoker's dracula - there's a fair amount of violence, but surprisingly little gore iirc. a lot of traveling from place to place and exploring a creepy castle and a guy turning into rats and dogs, this is a vampire movie <3

ju-on the grudge - ghost horror movie, where a lot of the violence is implied/off-screen. this one is very freaky and the ghosts have really cool character designs

the lighthouse - this one's weird and not my fav, but if u want to see a horny homoerotic movie about claustrophobic lighthouse keepers, I don't think anyone even dies in this one besides, like, a mermaid.

texas chainsaw massacre - there's some gross on-screen violence towards the end, but for 90% of the movie it's pretty off-screen, and even when it does happen it's not overly bloody/gorey. just violent. and! this is a slasher! so if u want to try out slashers without too much, u know, slashing, I rec this one for sure

get out - this one's a really cool commentary on racism, and I think there's violence towards the end but the majority of the movie is psychological more than anything

the shining - a family goes to a freaky hotel and things go downhill from there. there's a lot of blood in one scene, but outside of that there's like. no actual gore/blood of any kind, just people being scared and getting chased around!

ok that's all I can think of rn, and u might wanna double check the plot summaries or doesthedogdie for ur specific triggers wrt gore, but!!!! I hope I was at least able to give u a starting point here! horror is a really cool and broad genre, so even if none of my recommendations strike u, I suggest checking elsewhere too before giving up on the genre completely <3

Dimitri from 'Anastasia' (1997)

Half simping for him, half just.. loving him all around. Great character with heart and soul, funny af moments and unique in my eyes ♥

Charlotte LaBouff 'The Princess and the Frog' (2009)

She very much threw the girly rich brat trope out of the window. She's all that, she has her flaws, but she deeply cares for Tiana and her happiness and can be very selfless even when she got so spoiled all her life. Her round design makes her all squishy and I love her very much!! ♥

Ariel 'The Little Mermaid' (1989)

I just love marmaids. Always have, always will. And redheads too (ehm, I totally don't have a type-). I have a very big Ariel figurine collection actually that I'm very proud of- (I want moooooore-) yeah, it's constantly growing haha.

Eric 'The Little Mermaid' (1989)

Hands down best disney prince ever. Do I even have to elaborate why I'm in love with him? I think everyone knows his qualities.

Anne-Marie 'All dogs go to Heaven' (1989)

Cutest little girl everrrr! You feel so sorry for the absolute sweetness this little sugar is and just want her to find the family she deserves ♥ She also reminds me a lot of my little sister when she was younger, so my soft spot for this is even bigger roasfgehe

Nancy 'Enchanted' (2007)

I especially love her animated version. Absolutely lovely!! She's also one of my favorite disney faceclaims to roleplay as! ♥ Can't wait for 'disenchanted' to come out!!

Trixie 'Chip n Dale TV series' (1989)

I loved her as a kid. She's cute and smart and does her own thing. Of course, nostalgia ♥

Do you have a favorite monster ?

Man this all hangs on what you would consider a monster. Could be a dude with sharp teeth or an SCP.. I'm going to omit most of my faves from the "Dude with Sharp Teeth" category unless I really like them. King Ghidorah (Godzila), Otachi (Pacific Rim), The Thing (from.,, "the thing"), SCP-939 (SCP-Containment Breach), MORO (Princess Mononoke) That alien thing from the movie Cloverfield LOL, Xenomorphs ,, king xenomorph my beloved? (Alien) Probably any werewolf you ask me about (aside from twilight ,,, sorry. not monster enough.), Inuyasha's full demon form YES !!

I LOVE MONSTER DESIGNS SO MUCH!!! Like I can't choose just one!!! Ones that are really creative are my favorite. (Vampires and like mermaids are cool i guess. they dont do it for me. I need something really fucked up looking to have a good time) as for like, horror movie antagonists? I wouldn't consider them monsters at all, but its worth mentioning I wish Ghostface would text me back :/ <3 Michael Meyers... come here king!

I hate listing animals as "monsters" because theres a WHOLE speech I have in my heart ready to go about how fucked up it is to capitalize on fear using animals as the aggressors but I will say Jurassic Park's Raptors and T-Rex monsters they made... WOW. Incredible!!

For me the main difference between TLC Ru and the Ru from your new spinoff is that the former is like "can't believe I'm fish, I don't want to be fish" while the later is like "can't believe I'm fish, guess I'm fish now"

OKay so; I assume you mean the oneshot I posted that Ru had batwings ye?

Ru is part of an avian species; however normally they have elgant bird like plumage. Vanessa got angry with him and found an old spell that changed him into the bat winged version in the fic. He was thrown out of their society for being ‘fallen’ (despite he didn’t do anything) and had to go live with humans and such. Humans don’t trust the winged folk easily (as the wing folk tend to have a holier than thou attitude towards walking humans)

He met Eclipse who took pity and gave him some food and a warm scarf when she was walking to work once and they ended up becoming friends because she doesn’t seem to view him the same way.

He’s a tsun and will do things to aide her despite saying its not like that and she kinda gets used to reading him.

He learns later Eclipse was BORN an avian. Eclipse was born with rare wings that were both bird and fae; this would have allowed her to push Vanessa from the throne when older because the fae were the ones who blessed the original avians giving them their whole ‘better than walkers’ attitude. (also Alicia heard something about Eclipse would bring the end of their family line and tried to get her killed but the wing cutter took her home instead. She grew up with Conductor and his family)

So Alicia had Eclipse’s wings removed and she was cast out. Eclipse has no idea about this. This is something Ru learned when Vanessa came to see if he “wanted to apologize” (for nothing he did so he clearly didn't)

He tells Vanessa to take a hike. When Vanessa gets mad, Eclipse ends up slicing her wings off with a halberd. Thus proving the prophecy right. Because without her wings Vanessa can’t get back to the capital of avians and the curse she put on Ru starts to come undone because she’s no longer ‘blessed’ to use magic.

Eclipse is a bit shocked to see Ru’s actual form and wings (he has large, very large black raven wings) And He decides he’s still not going back and stays with her.

so that’s what’s going on. the oneshot was basically just him being a tsundere when he was “courting” her.

Ahhhh thank you!!! I really try to keep them distinct, like you can defs see some of my favorite mermaid design choices in them but I like to think they are unique enough (I love long tails and trailing side fins lol. something is so pleasing)

Yeah I guess that’s tru! one kinda fought it the other went “well shit might as well get used to it”

ahhh thank you!! tbh I really like that story because it’s a rare case of mostly fluff with minimum angst. the most angst happened prior to the plot and if you read closely can learn what happened to BOTH Ru and Eclipse before they met!!

Like the reason Eclipse is a recluse is actually hidden IN the story itself.

She used to date Ru’s younger brother (Sena makes a comment to goat at the end and goat says he’s nothing like his brother. This is why Sena was so HOSTILE to him off the bat as he looks like Morgan. Eclipse didn’t notice as they have different last names and she doesn’t think Ru looks like Morgan. But her vision of Morgan is severely warped from the abuse she suffered. She’ll never learn this fact of them being related because Ru doesn’t even know he had a younger brother. He was born AFTER he vanished.) but he abused her and she ended up with a lot of scars, and the main cause of her scars was she was lit on fire (you can get this from how she flinches and won’t use the gas stove)

And the reason Ru was a ghost is also told. and not just with Ghost.

He hesitates going into the bedroom due to bad memories, the basement makes him worried and he knows he wasn’t remembered or seen when police came. The house is located away from any neighbors and is on the border of the woods.

When Vanessa locked him up she would ignore him. He felt less human and the forest helped him. That’s why acting human again saved him. otherwise he’d have stayed that way until he just. faded away forever.

The Wedding.

I know it's like two weeks late.... Sorry! this is for 06/16/21 Writer Wednesday TW: a small line about not wanting to live but nothing major....

You sat nervously at the vanity, staring at yourself in the mirror; today was your wedding day; you were happy. You were marrying the man of your dreams, but the idea of the focus being on you sent your anxiety through the roof.

“How are you feeling, Pumpkin?” Your mother asked as she entered the suite. A smile fell onto your face as you took a drink of your tea.

“Nervous; I feel like I should have taken Will up on his offer to just elope.” You answered honestly. Your mother smiled.

“Give me the word Pumpkin; I’ll tell him; you know he will call it off and whisk you away.” She said, kissing your forehead. You shook your head

“No, we’ve spent all this time planning, and it’s not too bad; I mean, the only people here are our family and friends.” You said just as someone knocked on the door. Your mother answered for you, and your maid of honor walked in, pushing a room service cart—the hairstylist artist right behind her.

“I've brought food!” Ophelia, your best friend and Maid of Honor, announced as she took the Cloche off the tray. An array of different fruits lined the tray. You laughed as you took a strawberry. “I figured you could eat while we got your hair done.”

You nodded in agreement as you greedily piled your plate with fruit.

An hour later, your hair and makeup were perfected; resulting in your mother tearing up.

“Don’t cry or I’ll cry!” You warn; she nodded and looked away prompting you to laugh. The door swung open and in walked Santiago with a camera;

“Santiago Garcia!” Ophelia scolded as he swung the camera your way;

“Good I haven't missed it!” he said; “I was filming Will and Benny Bonding and I thought why aren't I with the bride. No one cares about the Groom getting ready. Who has seen you in the dress?”

“Just mom, why?” you asked; while you were getting make-up on; a couple of family members trickled in including Will’s Mother.

“Alright, everyone but her mom turned around while we get her dress on,” Santiago said; he sat the camera on a table and helped your mother get you into your dress. Once your mother had fastened the back you turned to Santiago. He held the camera with a smile on his face.

“You look beautiful,” he said before turning the camera to the others and telling them they could turn back around. He recorded their reaction as they saw you for the first time. You had picked an elegant cream-colored dress with elaborate designs on the bodice, a loose mermaid type dress that you had fallen in love with.

“You look beautiful, Pumpkin.” your mother said wiping her tears; you tell her to stop crying. Everyone laughed and hugged you. Ophelia smiled as she led you into the bathroom; she handed you her phone.

“You both are pretty nervous; remind each other how much you love each other,” she said before leaving the bathroom.

“I'm not supposed to talk to you before the wedding,” you said; he laughed from the other side of the phone.

“I'm not supposed to see you; there's no rule about talking.” Will replied; “Pope said you were breathtakingly beautiful; I can't wait to see you walking down the aisle. I love you, baby girl.”

“I love you too hot stuff; meet me next to the preacher in 20 minutes,” you said; Will laughed.

“I'll be there, decked to the nines.” He said; a smile appeared on your face; you said goodbye and walked out of the bathroom.

“Let's get me married;” you said, clapping your hands together.

Arm and arm with your mother you walked down the aisle to Christina Perry’s “A thousand Years”; you could help but stare into Will’s eyes; there were tears in his eyes causing you to also tear up. Time seemed to fly as soon as you took his hands and soon it was time for the vows.

“It was Mrs. Jensen’s English class junior year when I first saw you for the first time. I remember thinking; ‘I’m going to know that person someday.’ Imagine my surprise when you were my partner for the end of the term project.” You smiled at the memory of the two of you bonding over The Odyssey. “But it took me forever to ask you out; I don’t know why it did but as soon as you said yes my life got a million times better. Through the years I’ve come to realize our love is stronger than anything; we made it through deployment; injuries; arguments that didn’t make any sense. None of that mattered because I’m standing here across from you; in the church where we shared our first kiss; getting ready to start the next journey in our life.”

You took a deep breath and smiled at him.

“My mom said while we waited on the other side of the door that she always knew that I would be standing here with you. She said it was in the way I smiled when you picked me up for prom. And she’s not wrong; when I finally realized you were actually flirting with me and weren’t just being nice. My days were brighter, I found myself smiling more. And everyone can attest to this; High school me didn’t plan on living her life much further than Twenty-Five. So when I say you saved me, William Miller; it’s not a lie.” Will squeezed your hand. “I’m thankful every day I met you when I did; you have changed my life for the better.”

You exchange the rings; anticipating your first Kiss as husband and wife.

“You may now kiss the Bride.” The preacher said; Will took you in his arms and kissed you; your friends and Family clapped as you walked back down the aisle.

The two of you snuck away into a room while your guests made their way to the reception hall.

“Can we skip the reception?” Will asked you as he watched you; you grinned and shook your head.

“We have a whole week in Colorado for that. Plus you know our friends don’t know what knocking is. Also, we’re in a church.”

Will leaned over you in the chair

“Funny how us being in a church was the last reason not the first.” He whispered; just as he was about to kiss you the door flew open revealing Will’s brother and Beat man Benny walked in.

“Called it!” He said before stepping out to yell. “POPE YOU OWE ME TWENTY BUCKS!”

You smiled and kissed Will before pushing him away and standing up.

After pictures, you and Will walked into the reception hall and waited to be announced.

“Thank you, for choosing me.” You whispered to Will; who laughed and kissed you once more.

“May I present; Mr. and Mrs. Miller!” Benny said through the microphone.

“It was always you,” Will said as he took your hand and walked through the door.

Sharky

I luv this boy. Super supportive fiance.

Like he wants to respect the tradition of not seeing the dress but also wants to break tradition.

So he comes to help.

Sharky thinks that the Deputy wearing anything would be perfect.

Hell he was ready to go to the courthouse and elope the second he proposed.

He finds the ugliest dress in the store.

"Its got character Dep."

Tbh, I feel like he would make a lot of jokes about having the ugliest things. Like instead of having regular tuxes they're like camo or like the sleeves tear off, but when it comes down to it he wants to look nice.

For a dress the dep would probably do something like a mermaid style.

Sexy but elegant so it still feels like a wedding dress.

Even if he saw the dress in the store and even if he did cry then, he still cries when he sees her on their wedding day.

I don't think rings would be a big deal for Sharky and the Dep, I think the ring would he like the last thing either of them thought about.

Probably a small diamond with a pretty simple design.

Sharky would feel bad that he couldn't afford something fancy but the Dep wouldn't care.

Sharky totally proposed in the heat of the moment, or just when they were chilling out together, and it kind of slipped out.

He was #shook the Dep said yes, because he would plan out a whole thing with fire and explosions, but he's glad that he doesn't have to figure out the logistics of having fireworks spell out "will you marry me" in the sky.

John

He respects the tradition of not seeing the the bride in the dress before the wedding.

He wants to be involved, the part of him that wants to know very last detail really wants him to be involved but he controls himself, for the most part.

He has Faith be his eyes on the inside and John convinces the Dep to let Faith come.

John really just wants to know if the Dep is sticking to the general theme of their wedding, which is very like upscale bougie type deals.

The Dep definitely wants to pay for her own dress with her own money, not relying on John, so her budget is really tight.

She doesn't like relying on John or his wealth.

Dep knows that it would drive John crazy if she isnt on brand, and while for everyday life she'll mess with John she won't for their wedding.

So she tries really hard to match the aesthetic John is going for, and there's a few dresses that she likes that are in her budget and that sort of match the theme and she's planning on getting the one she likes the most.

Until Faith brings a dress that Rook absolutely adores, it's like perfect in every way. Until she sees the price tag and it's way over her budget.

And the Dep is like in tears because she wanted to be able to do this one thing since John does so much.

Faith calls John who is trying to be the voice of reason, because he knows this is important to the Dep.

Eventually John talks the Dep down from the ledge with help from Kim and Faith and they come to an agreement.

John went all out with the ring. It's one of the most extra looking things.

He loves her and he thinks she put the stars In the sky and wants the whole world to know that.

John talks a big game and he's usually very confident in appearance, but he's got a pretty low opinion of himself.

He kept his proposal lowkey, just in case he's right and the Dep actually hates him. He doesn't want the whole county to know.

To his own surprise the Dep says yes and he couldn't be happier.

He hasn't been this happy since Joseph and Jacob came back into his life. He gets to experience a loving family.

Joseph

They're going to have a really simple wedding. Just family and close friends.

Dep isn't looking for a super fancy dress, just something simple.

They're ceremony has a backyard sort of feel, and its during the hot Montana summer.

So she doesn't really want heavy layers.

Joseph has been through a wedding before, his first marriage had been just signing papers at the courthouse, this was an ACTUAL ceremony.

The Dep doesn't want to replace Joseph's late wife and they have a really long conversation about it.

Joseph can't help but see the similarities between them, and he can also appreciate there differences.

He planned out his proposal, he had a super romantic dinner and he and the Dep reminisced about how they met and some of their favorite memories.

Joseph would probably go for a simple ring, probably just matching gold bands no diamonds or anything.

The Dep and Joseph DIY most of their wedding decorations.

Joseph's congregation are also really generous, they help out while putting together some of the bigger decorations.

Joseph, who is usually calm and collected, is shaking with nerves on the big day.

Even getting married to his first wife he wasn't THIS nervous.

All his fears melt away when he sees her coming down the aisle.

Jacob

I'm personally a fan of the "Jacob was married" backstory that we never got to experience.

Tbh, I think Jacob probably married young, like a lot of military guys do, and between his deployments and his PTSD, it got to his wife, and she being young herself couldn't deal so they divorced.

That experience probably made Jacob really anti marriage, he felt abandoned and alone.

He only started to waiver in his beliefs after he'd been dating the Dep awhile.

The Dep would have to warm him up to the idea, and she'd probably have to be the one to propose too.

Jacob fully intends to wear a tshirt and jeans but John has a fit.

So the Dep is excited! She's getting married! Her friends are more or less supportive, there's a few comments about the age difference but Dep has had plenty of time to think about that.

Jacob is kind of insecure about that too, not that he'd ever say it out loud to anyone but Dep or Joseph.

Jacob literally only let's a handful of people even know that they're engaged, even less are invited to the wedding.

Jacob doesn't think he's going to feel any differently for the Dep after they get married, he thinks that their wedding is only going to be an inconvenience.

He doesn't like to admit that he MAY have shed a tear when he first saw the Dep coming down the aisle.

He didn't think he would love again, and he definitely never thought he'd marry again.

The Dep didn't go overboard dress shopping, she'd want something simple.

Jacob doesn't understand how someone as great as the Dep could ever want him, but he's glad that she convinced him to marry her.

The Dep goes all out on her own ring but she knows Jacob wants something simple.

I'm dying inside, sorry I've been inactive, I'm like caught between wanting to write a million things and not being able to commit to any, so hopefully I can just work through this funk I'm in 😥

Who created Jessica Rabbit?

The ultimate male fantasy in the form of a cartoon. Gravity defying hour glass curves and legs that go on for years, Jessica Rabbit is an icon and one of my happiest childhood memories was sitting on my Auntie's sofa and watching "Who framed Rodger Rabbit?" the film itself impressed me because it merged cartoons and real life together. Nothing impressed me more, (maybe except the scene in the Wizard of Oz when everything turns to Technicolor.) The film itself and the story didn't hold my attention ,however the gorgeous red haired lady did.

I wanted to BE Jessica Rabbit, still do. In fact she's my Halloween costume this year. I think if I look beyond the obvious the reason I love Jessica so much is because she's a married lady, she loves her husband. I'm a hopeless romantic who aspires to meet the one man to share my life with. But also I love the idea of being sexy, so sultry and inviting to men and women and then... when they get too keen on me on push them away... and purrr in a husky Scarlett Johansson/ Lauren Bacall tone. "Sorry, but I'm marrrrried... I lurrrrve my husband." She's the ultimate burlesque performer and yet she doesn't remove a single iteam of clothing... her sex appeal is obvious in her appearance and that's what I love. There is no little giggle, no cuteness she's pure, one hundred percent vamp. In this blog I am going to explore and celebrate an absolute icon.

The first time you see Jessica she slinks on stage in a gorgeous sparkling red gown, which is probably the outfit Rita Hayworth would of worn in Gilda back in 1946 had the censors of allowed it. (That spilt on the side of her dress is so high!) The way Jessica moves on stage and performs reminds me of Cameron Diaz in The Mask. (Maybe this inspired her role as a nightclub singer at the Coco Bongo club) Of course I love the fact she sings "Why don't you do right?" Which was originally sung by Peggy Lee as she strides across the stage. Four year old me was watching this going "This is who I want to be when I grow up"

But who created this absolutely beautiful cartoon ? She was the brain child of an animation team, Gary K. Wolf, Richard Williams and Robert Zemeckis. With each adding bits of their favourite movie stars to create a hybrid of the ultimate bombshell. Personally I think Jessica's body is very Jayne Mansfield. That massive chest can only be compared to one real life human woman and seeing Jayne wiggle down the street in "The girl can't help it" I think, could of been one of Jessica's design muses. However... here are the original Hollywood icons who inspired Jessica.

All the best female cartoon characters have red hair! How beautiful is the little mermaid? Jessica's whole look was supposed to be modelled on Rita or maybe just Rita's character Gilda. Gilda was a nightclub singer/ slight striptease artist (Who only removes one glove, but removes it in such an incredibly sexual way that that one glove is enough!) Perhaps this inspired Jessica's costume of elbow length gloves? (Who knows?) The ultimate pin up girl and force's sweetheart was definitely inspiration for the animation team who drew Jessica Rabbit but she was one of many women who's beauty inspired the team...

A little known fact about Jessica Rabbit is her predecessor... "Hot red riding hood" another curvy redhead who made her first appearance in 1943. Another Night club singer HRRH was another cartoon babe to steal the show. However, HRRH, I feel needs a blog all of her own so let's return to her another day and focus on Mrs Rabbit...

I just love Veronica Lake! I love the fact she was only 5ft 2 and weighed just over seven stone she was so sexy and vampish but also tough! Why am I not surprised they used her likeness to create Jessica Rabbit?! That peek-a-boo hairstyle is absolute genius, not being able to see half the face adds mystery and allure to a person... It's like a burlesque show only done with hair not clothes. As Veronica herself once famously said "I never did cheesecake like Betty Grable, I just used my hair." And who needs to remove clothes when you have a face like Veronica? (The picture I've used on this blog I have on my bedroom wall) She's got perfectly high cheekbones and a lovely heart shaped face with the most narrow part being her mouth, jaw and chin.

Ingrid Bergman was a Swedish actress who came to Hollywood, they tried (like they did with many others) to change everything about her to make her into their idea of a movie star, she refused. If they didn't want her the just way she was she would simply move back home (Taking her trained stage acting talents with her). I just adore her! What an awesome lady! Could you imagine an actress today being told she's "too tall?!" Ingrid was 5ft 9, but some high heels on her and she'd be over 6ft but she was perfect and carried herself with such elegance and poise. Watch any on her films and check out that stride! I think Jessica Rabbit's statuesque frame was definitely inspired by Ingrid. So what if a leading lady is taller than her leading man? As a stage actress Ingrid sure knew how to carry herself.

"What about that look, that look Lauren Bacall had?" Said Robert Zemeckis during a brain storming session when drawing Jessica for the first time. Those sexy heavy lidded eyes and that pout, that dark alluring quality that gives away absolutely nothing and puts you in your place at the same time. That's Lauren 's look, the ultimate femme fatale, it kind of keeps you guessing... is this woman good or is she a villain? Or can it be possible for a woman to look like one of the bad guys but be really sweet with a heart of gold? How did Lauren create that signature stare? Well, apparently during the filming of "To have and have not" she would get so nervous she would shake(!) Lauren was a strong confident woman off camara but when she was being filmed she would get anxious. The only way to stop the shaking (and hold the ever present cigarette to her lips in a effortless manner) was to tilt her chin down to her chest slightly and look up. Creating the sexy Bacall look we know and love today.

Vikki Dougan, a name you may not of heard of. Unless you follow me, Eversoslinky over on Instagram. (I like to acknowledge the forgotten stars of Hollywood) Vikki was an unknown actress during the 1950s who used to crash Hollywood parties, when I first saw pictures of her I just had to post them, she's so unknown and under the radar and yet her fashion sense inspired one of our most loved cartoon characters- Jessica Rabbit. Those gorgeous backless dresses are just mindblowlingly fantastic and pretty daring considering they were worn during the 1950s (!) It's been some great debate as to which actress inspired Jessica Rabbit the most, with some people refusing to acknowledge Vikki as she never "hit the big time" or "made any popular movies" never the less she was a party girl and gained many column inches during her time, she was a style icon who I believe should be celebrated as the woman who influenced Jessica Rabbit's body con backless dress.

I have many more pictures I'd love to post on this blog but unfortunately Tumblr won't let me post anymore... apparently the number is ten and I've hit my limit (!) ... Sorry people but then again... NOT sorry cause it ain't my fault!... All that's left to say now is Jessica Rabbit is a cultural icon and who knows? maybe if we are really lucky she might appear again in another film. Until then I will start working on my tribute to her. The next time someone asks you who inspired Jessica Rabbit, you won't reply back with "Veronica Lake" but with "Rita, Veronica, Lauren, Ingrid and Vikki" cause they all have features that have made up the greatest cartoon of all time. xoxo 💋

BABY

1 INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - DAY

MAX (24) sits in front of a white desk. He is the client, and it is obvious in his youthful look. He's fidgeting with a pamphlet in his hands, much to ASPEN's dismay.

Aspen (24) sits next to Max, and is the polar opposite. She's calmly watching DR. ROWANDA ZELF, and has an aura of professionalism around her. Aspen has lilac skin and white hair, with small white diamond-like markings on her forehead where her hairline is.

Rowanda (46) sits behind the desk. She is wearing an all white suit and looks every bit like a real estate agent- she knows how to cater to her clients. She is holding a sheet of paper in front of her, occasionally humming and 'ah'ing. She tucks her blonde hair behind her ear, revealing it to be pointed and elf-like.

ROWANDA Okay. So, you're completely sure

this is your final decision on the baby's personality? You're sure you want her to be this introverted? Seventy five percent is a lot...

MAX Yes. We know that.

ROWANDA

Aspen?

ASPEN Yes. We do actually agree on some

things.

The group all chuckle quietly, an awkward tension mulling over them. Rowanda then pushes away from the desk and leaves through a back door, and Aspen and Max examine the room.

MAX I'm so excited, I can't wait to get

my hands on our baby.

Max takes Aspen's hand, running his thumb over her knuckles. Aspen smiles tightly and hums in insincere

agreement. Rowanda emerges from the door and smiles brightly at the two who are still sat in the chairs. She walks over to a door behind them and opens it.

ROWANDA This way, please.

2 INT. CUSTOMISATION GALLERY - DAY

The two follow Rowanda into a spacious white room. Across the left wall are three dimly lit tubes that contain 'pre- made' babies in them. Another one is empty. Aspen looks at them with some distaste, and Max like a kid in a candy shop, as Rowanda leads the couple across to the first tube, waving her hand out as she presents it.

ROWANDA We offer bespoke packages for pre-

made models, starting at five thousand onward. This is MODEL KROY: features include translucent wings, pointed ears and these beautiful markings.

Rowanda points to the baby, Max leans in for a closer look, nodding as they squint to see through the dark tube.

ROWANDA (CONT'D) It's known to most people as the

'Fairy'. Then, moving on, we have the 'MERMAID.'

Rowanda leads Max to the next tube on the left.

ROWANDA (CONT'D) Features include tail, gills, and more beautiful markings. The tail

only appears when submerged in water, so it can walk on land. Colourings vary from each model- where the fairy is more natural and earthy, people with the mermaid tend to have brighter, more vibrant colours.

MAX What do you think, babe?

Aspen spins around from where she had been looking at the fairy baby inside the tube.

ASPEN I'm sorry, what? Oh. I think we're

fine with the package we're on now.

Rowanda nods and leads them to the tube at the end of the room, where a tablet is attached to it. She presses it so it lights up and the customisation page appears.

ROWANDA Okay, so the customisation part is

quite easy. First you need to select the sex; there are over two hundred, so take your pick. Then, with the package that you have chosen by default, you can chose the hair colour, eye colour and skin colour.

As she speaks, her hand glides across the tablet, as if turning pages.

ROWANDA (CONT'D) But, since you're not having any

other packages, you are still able to add magnificent features such as wings...

Aspen walks over to the tablet, peering over Max's and Rowanda's shoulders.

ROWANDA (CONT'D) ...markings or a tail. These do

cost more than what would be offered in the packages, but I trust you understand that. Prices will show up as you choose each option. Okay? Shout me when you're done and we'll advance to the next stage.

Max nods enthusiastically. Rowanda smiles politely and leaves the room without another word. Max immediately dives to the tablet.

MAX Angel wings! A dragons tail, Aspen!

Look at all these features! How many eyes do you think are too many? Three? Four? What colour skin? Lilac like yours?

ASPEN (shouting)

Max, stop that! You're making it ugly!

Aspen, disgusted by Max's choices, pushes him out of the way so she can have a go.

ASPEN Porcelain skin, two eyes, no tails

or wings. Two arms and two legs. Oh, look at the variation of eye colours! Forest green or pine?

MAX Whats the difference?

Max peers over her shoulder and groans loudly.

MAX(CONT'D) Oh, loosen up a little! We can make

whatever we want and you're making it boring!

ASPEN It's not boring it's beautiful!

Max squeezes in and the two begin rapidly scrolling back and forth through the options at the same time, changing the designs. The tube lights up with a different colour every time there has been a change in design. The screen soon freezes, not allowing any changes to happen and a warning sign pops up. A warning light above the tube starts flashing red. Aspen gasps and takes a step back, scared.

MAX (shouting)

Look what you did! Max hits the tablet, trying to get it to work again.

3 INT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - DAY

Rowanda hears the shouting and presses her ear against the door, a crafty smile on her lips. She takes a sip from her mug.

ASPEN(V.O) (loudly)

What I did? You broke the machine! 4 INT. CUSTOMISATION GALLERY - DAY

ASPEN(CONT'D) Your stupid excitement did this!

Why can't you just want a normal baby?

MAX Normal? What is normal in this

world, Aspen? Aspen sighs and covers her face with her hands.

ASPEN Like you, Max. I wanted the baby to

be like you.

MAX But I wanted the baby to be like

you! You and your beautiful, different self. Why would you want one like me?

ASPEN You just want our baby to be

different. Our baby looking natural like you would be different - to me. You don't realise how you look through my eyes. Why do you think I chose you out of everyone out there

(MORE)

ASPEN (CONT'D) - all those others with wings and

tails and third eyes? Because you're beautiful.

MAX Really?

ASPEN Yes, really. I can't think of

anything better than having a child that looks like you.

Max crosses the room to Aspen, hugging her tightly.

MAX I'm sorry I got over excited. I

should've listened to you and what you want. I'm a bad husband. I love you. We can have what you want.

The door opens, and Rowanda pops her head in with a sly smile.

ROWANDA I have a solution. For an extra two

thousand...

5 INT. CORRIDOR - DAY

Max and Aspen walk down a bland corridor, out of Rowanda's office with a baby in each arm. Both are happy, holding hands with their spare. Max raises his baby to his chest.

MAX Look, he matches my shirt!

Aspen pulls up a small, receipt-like piece of paper from her baby.

CUT TO

ASPEN Gauranteed to be walking in nine

months or a fifty percent off voucher for our next...

CUT TO BLACK.

idk if unis do this in nz, but i'm doing my a levels (year 13) in the uk and we're nearly at the end of a 5 month project, and I hate how every single drawing I do has to be in response to an artist, i can't just do smth because I think it'd look cool/I wanted to, it Has to have an artist, and then you have to do loads of experiments from them, and I find that so hard to keep going at a good level, and not how i work at all. Do you ever find this? Do you have any suggestions?

Hi! I don’t think we do the exact same thing here - in high school, at the start of your project you choose artist models and then your whole portfolio grows from there, and at uni our projects are only ever 6 weeks long (in my degree so far, anyway) but we still do need to use artist models A Lot. I personally have gotten away with being pretty vague on artist models if I am still producing good stuff, so idk if it’s stricter for you guys?

But what I’ve found since I’ve been at uni is that the best thing to do is look for cool art all the time, not just when it comes to a time when you have to pick artist models. I have a random art reblogging tumblr (@watercolourfey) which I just. reblog any art/design onto if it looks cool. (a lot of it tends to be pretty mermaid art that’s unlikely to be any help with uni stuff but...whatever). If you have a bunch of artists in mind before you even start, it helps a lot. (I realise you’ve said you’re almost finished your project, so this might not be too helpful, sorry...)

I also find pinterest is really great, especially for design examples (which are really hard to find, for me) because basically every pin you click on will show a whole lot of similar pins and sometimes you can go down tangents and find heaps of great stuff - and I have a board where I pin anything that interests me design-wise in case I might need it later.

My tutors in the illustration courses keep talking about doing master studies, too, which sounds like part of what you do - copying master artists’ works to figure out how they work, which will make your own art better. I keep telling myself to do this more often, because I can tell that it is really helpful, but I really don’t do it enough. Maybe what would help you is to choose something completely different from what you’re doing for your project and do a similar thing, just for fun? If you have time, obviously.

Wow, okay this is long. I think basically what I’m saying is if you try to get in the habit of doing this stuff for your personal art and improvement, without thinking of it just within ‘it’s something the teachers are making us do for school’, that can help motivate you to enjoy it/see the benefit in it. That’s what I found has worked for me (sometimes. I’m still working on it). I hope this helps????? maybe??
