#I have so many thoughts about this
The first real conversation Katniss has with Peeta is when he tells her that he wants to die as himself, that he doesn't want the games to change him into something he's not, and that he wants to keep his identity and prove he's more than just a piece in their games because that's the only thing he has left to care about.
The first time we see Lucy Gray she sings a song that basically says that nothing they could take from her was worth keeping. "Can't take my past. Can't take my history... You can't take my charm. You can't take my health."
The capitol has taken everything from them both, but at the same time, they could never take away who they are.
They are both likeable charismatic and funny, with the kindest hearts, and incredibly loyal to the people they care about.
At the same time, everything they do before the games, and during is calculated. Lucy Gray singing a love song and winning the hearts of the capitol. Peeta confesses he's in love with his district partner, therefore cementing her identity as desirable. Both of them know how to sway people with words, how to charm people, and how to manipulate crowds. Neither of them has any problem doing so to keep themselves, and the people they love safe.
Lucy Gray's song The Old Therebefore, about learning how to love and live her life to the fullest before death, a final and calculated stroke in a last-ditch effort to save herself from the arena. This evokes enough emotion in the watchers to get them to rise to their feet and plead for her life alongside Snow.
Snow, watching the 74th and preparing for the 75th Hunger Games sees Lucy Gray in Katniss. A young girl, from the 12th district. Unafraid at the reaping. Selling a false love story, manipulating a boy who loves her in order to get out and supporting the revolution with the mockingjay as her symbol.
He threatens her family to get her to sell that she and Peeta are in love, to prevent the revolution, because obviously, she's pretending. He's had experience with a girl just like her before. He has no doubt that she has the acting ability to sell this story because clearly, she manipulated the first Hunger Games in her favor, the same way Lucy Gray manipulated him.
Watching the interviews for the 75th Hunger Games he realizes-
Katniss is just an impulsive girl, in a Mockingjay dress she didn't know about, made by someone who supports the revolution.
Peeta is a boy who has the ability to move people with just his words. He made Katniss desirable, he was the one who sold the love story, and he was the one to make their romance seem real. Katniss only started the revolution because she would rather risk dying with him than live without him. A concept President Snow was completely unfamiliar with. And it is with all these realizations crashing around him Peeta drops the baby bomb. He knows the baby's not real, and so does Snow. But it evokes enough emotion in the watchers to get them to rise to their feet and plead for the lives of the tributes.
Is it Lucy Gray or Peeta?
By the time Snow realizes he's made a mistake, it's too late.
Peeta is still charming and manipulating the capitol. Katniss is in love.
He goes up against a kindhearted boy expecting to beat Sejanus again, only to find out that it's Lucy Gray he's fighting; knowing he will never be able to escape their ghosts.
-from a conversation i had with @grandtyphoonpoetry breaking down every character in the hunger games.

watching fantasy/sci-fi shows from the 80's and 90's is so healing for your brain actually..........
i see people trying to hype them up too by showing off really impressive practical effects for the time, and sure, that's nice. but I unironically love seeing very obvious foam boulders bounce off people, and wooden swords clash, and bright flashes of light from "laser guns"... and it is so much better than 90% of shit today, and you know why?
key fucking difference: they inhabit it. everyone on screen is putting their entire soul into it. and I think people forget that tv is at its very essence theater, you tune in and suspend your disbelief, and you are always aware you are watching a story. if you go to a play and see someone stabbed with a very obvious fake knife, it doesn't fucking matter, does it?
because everyone's forgot that you're not there to see how good of a real-looking fake knife somebody can make, you're there to see people who can make you believe in the emotional truth of a story.
xena warrior princess is superior to every single marvel movie that has ever been made for the key fact that i can watch two actors struggling in "quicksand" which is very obviously just dirt that they were buried in up to their chests, but they are SCREAMING, wailing, crying: they are selling it and I am there for them ---
no marvel movie will ever achieve emotional truth as long as their direction goes: "Alright. So you're trapped in [redacted] next to [redacted], and you feel very [redacted]. And, action!"

reminder: if you are making a point to write a character as disabled, you have to actually write about that disability
disability isn’t just an accessory you can give a character to make them more “interesting”. you can’t just give them an aid and have it mentioned twice and move on with your day. if you are going out of your way to make your readers aware that a character is disabled, you have to at least attempt to accurately portray that disability
do your research. find people willing to answer your questions. put in the work. or just don’t write about disability

I love!!! his fucking expression!!!
Like, the only part of it that's actually angry is the one eyebrow. He's angry, but that anger is deeply rooted in fear or is a poor attempt to hide it. It's so good!
Tumblr media
I love his stance too!!! It looks more like a flinch than a proper defensive stance. The way his hands are clenched makes me think that his hands are trembling and he's trying to hide it. He looks like he's going to pull some of his hair out. Sir! You're going to hurt yourself!

DC x DP Prompt Where it's like Twilight Princess-esque
Midna-esque Danny who needs to get back to the Ghost Zone and get rid of Pariah before he invades the world with an army of the undead. But he's stuck in small almost baby-man esque form or possessing a shadow.
Enter batfamily member (or maybe all of them) who can see him, but have also gotten turned into an animal. Kind of hard to do things in Gotham or wherever they are when you don't have fingers nor can you ask for assistance. But well, invasion by the undead? Banished prince? Who only they can see thanks to being partially dead??? Breakdowns later, stopping the end of the world now.
Time to find a way to the Lazarus pits to try and cleanse the guardians there, which apparently is a thing?? The batfam didn't know that but apparently it's been corrupted for a while- and hopefully they don't slip into like, an in-between state of existence or something. Now if only there weren't several people and ghosts trying to stop them- and they have to avoid the government too?? Some sort of anti-ecto acts?? That's something they'll have to deal with later, after the whole, freeing the lil ghost-prince's siblings and dad and taking down the ghost king...

Thinking About how wukong believes he has done more harm to the world than good and sees mk as his chance to Leave The World Better Than He Found It (with someone who can clean up all his messes and Be Better Than He Was), but wukong does this without addressing any of the issues that caused him to make those mistakes in the first place and so passes down those problems to his successor in a fun little cycle of guilt complexes and insecurities

The whole issue of Joke and Zo was so well done written. Because Zo's anger and disappointment in Pat and Joke can be understood with no discuss, but at the end of the episode it is shown that Zo outgrew his experience. Like he didn't even think to part ways with Joke. He only waited for Joke to speak the truth like he promised an episode ago, an honest discussion. Yes, he was hurt and dissapointed with their behavior because that was not how friendship and relationship works but there were no thoughts about sudden breakup or dramatic hysteric. From the beginning Zo only wanted the truth and he patiently waited for Joke to admit his lie and not try to hush it with gifts and flowers. He literally said that he gave Joke a multiple chances which shows that he, in fact, really loves Joke and believes that his feelings were real (unlike issue with Puen) but he needs to understand that it can't always be like this, that relationship can't work like this. And Zo forgave Joke out loud only when Joke honestly confessed to him about everything. And also this is the proof that Zo worked through the traumatic expirience with Puen and learned to trust someone again. It's amazing actually
