“The only thing that we're not doing is we're not shooting [immigrants] who come across the border, because of course, the Biden administration would charge us with murder.” -Greg Abbott, Texas governor
Hey, so in case y'all aren't aware, the governor of Texas is defying the Supreme Court's order to take out razor wire on the border that severely endangers the lives of people trying to cross, under the grounds that Texas is protecting itself from invasion. Abbott is threatening to pit the Texas national guard against Federal troops. It's probably a bluff, but praying for Republicans to be rational rarely works. Extremists are literally calling for succession from the United States.
I don't think it'll come to fighting, but the fact Abbott is so openly defying federal orders and blatantly threatening militant action is pretty terrifying. Especially if he's just allowed to do this, which would set a very dangerous precedent for what states can get away with.

new canon Star Wars writers continuing to underminine George Lucas's continual emphasis on Anakin's tragedy being about his choices and not about any sort of pre-determined destiny he was fated to endure....I hate it here

Shin remembering his feelings but not his actual memories is heartbreaking and just so pointless and it's not adding anything to the show except breaking Minato's heart.
But also adding this moment still not having Shin remember is a punishment I didn't need.
I mean, sure, Minato is finally taking action but if it does nothing than what's the point? Why are we doing this whole amnesia thing (that doesn't fit in the universe and doesn't make any sense and doesn't mean anything then... why?
What does this add to the plot or characters? Sure, Minato is pursuing Shin but he's pursuing a Shin who doesn't remember a thing and that it doesn't mean anything to and that just removes all the purpose.
Shn reaching out to him this time and it just... there's no meaning because Shin doesn't remember and Minato does and there's so much pain between them now instead of love and Minato's just desperate but also alone and lonely and this is what he always thought would happen to him, this is how he was sure this would always end, wasn't he?
Minato always knew he would end up alone. He spent the whole show waiting for Shin to choose someone else and now Shin has a whole world without him in it and Minato can do absolutely nothing about it. He is trapped in a place where he loves someone that doesn't remember him and so can't love him.
And the return of who Minato was always sure he would be... the man alone, the man who loves and will not be loved in return and so will have nothing in the end, no love and no companion and no partner and he is alone on the beach without anyone at his side, no one to love him or care for him or make him smile.
This is always how Minato pictured his life and now it's all he has.
Is this really what the season was building up to? To Shin forgetting Minato and Minato having to make the choice to give up their love because the Shin he loves doesn't exist only for him to come back at the miraculous last moment next episode!? Why!? Why is this the plot!? We really couldn't come up with anything better?
But also, fuck, how is Minato going to recover from this? This was Minato's darkest fear and most certain future for all his life, that he would be alone because he couldn't love or be loved and now the one person who disproved that theory forgot him and came back a different person who might remember an echo of that love but does not possess the whole of it and why was this the end plot!?
