I think Agent / Subject / Catalyst are the three categories [CAT 1-3] in the case numbers.

Bear with me.

So aside from the dates, the case numbers are split in 3 parts, right:

CAT 1-3 (rarely combination of 2 numbers) -> category

*R (-> rank) A/B/C (sometimes combination of 2 letters from ABC)

DPHW (4 digit number)

* the case numbers for episodes #3 and #4 don't have the R for some reason

This is very much taking into account/based on the stuff from the ARG klaus.xls document btw, which has these exact 3 columns & features some of the episodes' cases where these match up exactly with the case numbers. [if you're interested, it's #2 line 80; #3 line 64; #5 line 75; #7 line 77]

Both category and rank are divided into 3 options, with some exceptions of cases having 2 applied at the same time. So now episode 9 gave us another nice group of three. And I thought, hm, maybe those ideas, Agent, Subject, and Catalyst, could match up with one these as a classification of the cases. And I think it does.

Based on the cases we had so far, I think category 1 is Agent, category 2 Subject, and category 3 Catalyst.

In my tmagp paranoia document with all my notes, I made a table sorting the cases according to the categories for a better overview and to be able to maybe spot similarities:

Let me explain what I think the classifications mean.

1 - Agent.

That's the most self-explanatory one I think. I'm not the first to make the comparison between avatar and agent, and not the first to point out that Needles acts like a TMA avatar.

Agent then is an active purveyor of fear/terror. someone deliberatly acting in such a way to spread it, to scare people. It is the person themself directly and possibly willingly causing the 'unsettling experiences' and spreading fear. Needles is the prime example.

It doesn't work quite so well with #1A, but I'd say the "he" that she interacts with acts as an agent, with him luring her to the cemetary and the unsettling way he is described there, but more importantly, with the laughter that follows, that he seems to enjoy what's happening, her fear. Her fear that's caused by him.

2. Subject.

Subject I would describe with "being subjected to something" or that "something just happens". A subject to fear. Maybe as a victim of sorts, but that's not quite it. Anyway, I think the cases in category 2 group together easily:

What's interesting is that all of the cases feature in some way a person entering a space and being affected by it/by something in a certain space. Or at least it is centred on a certain space. they are subject(ed) to the space.

In #1B it's the TMI ruins, in #3 the garden, in #5 the cinema, in #7 the charity store, and in #8 the service station. The person in #8 himself blames it explicitly on the place, the architecture, on the space he entered.

3. Catalyst.

Catalyst, I would argue, means a moveable object that works to spread fear. That is, a person with a certain object--or artifact, if you will--working together: it's a person with the object as a catalyst, it's the object through a person spreading fear.

To put it more concisely, it's cases of a person carrying an artifact and through them, allowing the artifact to affect other people.

We have the violin and the dice in episodes #4 and #9. In both cases the people who pick them up spread harm/misfortune by using them. In both cases the person first harms themself before learning they can/how they can instead spread it to others.

In episode #1B, which was in both category 2 and 3, RedCanary takes that wooden box/old wooden thing home with them. And it's that box, taking that box, that's linked to what's happening to them. Or what they do afterwards. Because we don't actually know what happens to RedCanary or what RedCanary goes on to do afterwards. We've kinda assumed that they just die, but maybe not? Anyway, my point is, old wooden box thing = artefact/catalyst.

Episode #2 is the biggest hole in this theory I think. Without knowing I probably would've put it as category 1, agent, with Ink5oul as the agent. But instead it's rather that the tattoo acts as a catalyst, through the artist. So far it rather has seemed to affect the artist herself rather than other people through her, except for the confrontation with her roommate. But, as @amelie-isnt-french pointed out, we don't know what she moved on to do afterwards. Maybe it would go on to affect other people. Maybe she just hasn't learned how to do so yet.

Or maybe affecting other people is not even a criteria at all. Maybe it's enough that the artifact comes into contact with a person and affecting them.

I'm aware that this theory isn't without flaws; both cases in episode #1, and esp. #2 don't fit into this as well as the others. But I think it still works.

That being said, I can go even more crazy.

You know that other ARG document, the chdb.xlsx, with the list of the gifted children tested at the Magnus Institute, the one that features Sam and Gerry, the one that's possibly the one Sam mentions in episode #8 through which he found Gerry.

Now my question on looking at this document, or you know, one of my questions, was what does the chdb stand for. I figured db might probably be database. the c could be children, because that's who were tested and listed. but the h? I had the stray thought at some point that it might be host. which I found very unsettling, but also didn't really work as a whole, like "Children Host Data Base"? nah.

But what if the C is not for Children. What if it's for Catalyst. Because Catalyst Host Data Base suddenly makes a lot of sense. We know that the TMAGP Magnus Institute is interested in "supernaturally active items" as the episode 9 statement giver tells us. They have been collecting artefacts/catalysts. Cf. also that old wooden box RedCanary found in its ruins. So they might have in the children been looking for potential hosts for them.

Serizawa. I hc that people with psychic powers can see the Death Note's bad jujus or whatever, so he wouldn't have to test it to know it would work, but I still think he'd use it. If he found it while he was still with Claw, he'd use it because it was easier to kill someone that way than with his psychic powers. Even if it he found it after Claw, it'd be the same reasoning. He's definitely killed people in the past and if someone hurt his friends or his mother he'd very much take the easy out of simply writing down a name rather than going for a fight. He'd still feel really bad about it though, so it'd probably only happen once.

Minori. She uses it to see if it's real, finds that it very much is, and then locks it away in her room. She won't use it, but it'll be a constant thought in her mind. A very real temptation.

Emi. She uses it once out of curiosity to see if it's real, then buries it in the woods where no one will ever find it...but she can go back for it if she ever needs it.

Hanazawa. He's reformed but his temper is still something to behold. He's only this far down the list because he's got that "I could kill you with my powers why would I need a book to do it for me" swag ✨

Im learning japanese rn and one thing I've noticed is that my voice when I speak japanese is A LOT quieter than when Im speaking English because if i speak loud I notice the words dont sound as clear- This language is forcing me to be quitter- which is honestly a good thing I talk way to loud😭

For me, learning how to pronounce certain words was pretty big, and the best way I did that was plenty of research combined with just casually listening. Whispering is a start, but you might develop habits that aren't so correct (just noting down what I saw in myself - particularly in pronouncing my "r/l's").

For starters, I used Buusu to begin learning pronunciation (before it was put behind a paywall :⁠-⁠\), but there are plenty other things available!

One of the biggest ones is japanesepod101, as they have many YouTube videos going over basically everything you need to know:

Alongside videos like these, you can also develop good pronunciation habits just by listening to anime (although not always the best example sometimes) and music! That's how babies learn to speak anyway, just by listening and piecing things together (๑>ᴗ<๑)

Other examples include podcasts, radio, Japanese YouTube channels (many have subtitles!), advertisements with VPN, and more (๑ˊ͈ ꇴ ˋ͈)

I think it's very important to note that pronunciation is very important in Japanese. Depending on the word, you can change the whole meaning of something just by giving it the wrong pitch.

Example: In English, you can change the message of a sentence by stressing a word like so,

This isn't my cat.

Turns into:

This isn't my cat.

Insinuating that the cat isn't yours, but is someone else's.

Japanese is sort of like that. Words can change meaning based on where you put your high and low pitches, so that's why speaking clearly when practicing is best to start off with.

LJS Important Canon events: Train Accident and the aftermath: Jigens Timeline

It should come as no surprise to anyone at this point that I am absolutely in love with the Koike Films and The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.As someone who enjoys a more "adult" tone to certain media's once in a while, the Koike films and TV show just hit a little different to me when it comes to the Lupin series, edging towards the more dark tone of the manga, without ever actually pushing completely into territory that made the first editions of the Manga so infamous.

As a result of my love for the series as a whole, it should also come as no surprise that me being me would find some way to combine certain Lupin media into my own "timeline" to work off.

Enter my favorite and most greatest achievement in the fandom thus far:

me somehow merging the Lupin Zero's timeline with the TWCFM's timeline.

Now granted it wasn't easy. But one of the things I truly appreciate about this fandom, besides the fun characters, is that it helps with it being nearly 60 years old at this point, with it having a lot of focal points to jump off at.

For me the timeline starts not with Lupin Zero itself, but what comes after. But instead basing it off of what came before Zero.

The Train accident is one of the most “legendary” albeit-not-really-explained-or-even-mentioned-much-if-not-at-all-idea, to come out of the Lupin fandom next to the Is Lupin even human idea. This incident is the one that famously yet “supposedly” scarred up Lupin’s face and ultimately killed his dad.

We often get "hints" of this incident but never fully do we ever get concrete evidence of it. Not even the infamous "Mask Scene" of Pt5 seems to directly hint to it.

In my AU however, this is actually a really important event. Basically the highlight of the entire AU so to speak. With this incident, a lot of important events transpire that open up to other media forms canon to the AU. The most important one being TWCFM, as well as the Tomoe Arc.

How? Well, you see, despite Lupin’s attempts at acting like everything is OK shortly after the train accident, both Issei, but now also Jigen as this idea incorporates Lupin Zero, begin to notice that the boy isn’t as “ok” as he lets on.

A while after he heals, he begins to show the classic symptoms of severe depression: he’s often times lethargic, sleeping all day, he’s losing weight to a point where it becomes noticeable, is often times irritable, but one of the major things that entails the possibility of something being severely wrong is that he begins to lose interest or at least the pleasure in engaging in certain activities.

He no longer comes up with wild hair brain schemes, he no longer builds fancy gadgets, he no longer does anything that he is known for. And while Jigen likes the slow pace in the beginning, as it goes on for longer then he anticipates, he ends up bringing up his concerns with Lupin’s grandpa who also notes the same changes in his grandson that Jigen has noticed as well.

As the days go on and Lupin gets worse and worse to the point he’s practically a shell of his former self, Issei ultimately makes a choice. Something has to be done before he loses his grandson to his spiraling.

But what?

In the end we all know what happens. 

With no other options that have worked including therapy and worried deeply for the safety of his grandson’s mental and physical health, Issei brings little Lupin to meet a lady who teaches not far from where they live in Japan, who has agreed halfheartedly to help bring the boy some peace.

This woman is named Tomoe. 

Well. . .we all know what happened with that.

Following Lupin's disappearance and supposed death, Jigen and him are separated for many years.

Which opens up to Jigens TWCFM Arc.

While I don't know what precisely goes on with Lupin during the time-frame of their separation, Jigens timeline merges both manga and show elements as well as Koike Elements.

Some time after returning home following the loss of his friend, as he is unable to cope without him, Jigen returns to the old bump-grind life he had before he met Lupin. He goes back to work for the mafia and his father as a mercenary once again, rising up in the ranks as a remarkable hitman. But it’s a large tragic occurrence, with every bad thing that can happen to him happening to him, his life falling apart without Lupin to be by his side.

Some of the major turning points include:

The kidnapping of his youngest sister, and the death of his brother in the same event when he was in his late teens. Following the death of Joey Dunn, Jigen is pushed harder by his father to "carry on the family business. However this is a tumultuous event as it leads him to proceed with an attempt at a full mercenary career. Because of his background, he becomes a mercenary who went to South America and befriended Gallanco, whom he admired. They both went to Dolminea to fight in a war; the image of Gallanco becoming a hero left a deep impression on Jigen. At some point, he returned home, but due to events unknown to outsiders, he ends up relocating to Europe and joined the Italian mob; although the reason is unknown, it is thought to be at the behest of his father, who still attempts at using his only living son as a way to carry on with the name and all that, thoroughly abandoning the thought of his youngest being at any means useful thus casting her aside.

The Death of his Father can't come quickly enough. But when it does, it throws Jigen for a loop. He fully expects with his fathers death to leave the mafia for good and go home. But with the life now embedded deep in his bones no thanks to his old man, he finds himself unable to do so. Believing himself to be no good at anything else other than mafia/mercenary life, he lives in self-exile from the family, cutting off contact with his mother and sister for a few years.

However, this turns out to be a terrible idea, as while in the Italian mob, he grows close to his boss's wife Cicciolina. His boss eventually catches wind of this, and tries to kill Jigen, but is accidentally killed by Cicciolina instead when she tries to stop him. Following a series of event's later, including his first interaction with one, Fujiko Mine, Jigen becomes a unwilling participant of Cicciolina assisted suicide. Fed up with everything, he decides once more to become a thief for all times sake.

Which leads to the most important part of Jigens TWCFM arc: The Reunion between him and Lupin.

The reunion between Jigen and Lupin happens in Episode 05 of The Woman Called Fujiko Mine: Blood-Soaked Triangle. Following the same premise of the original episode: Fujiko and Lupin, and later Jigen, go in search of a jewel peacock at the bottom of a booby-trapped pyramid in Egypt. In LJS, Jigen, with his life going absolutely nowhere fast, decides to attempt a life once again of thieving, desperate to find some direction or traction in his life. Halfway through traversing this gruesome pit of horrors, he comes across a familiar sight.

Now up until this point, Lupin spent much of his time actually trying to track Jigen down. But because of his change in lifestyle, Jigen basically dropped off the grid. So when Lupin is discovered to still be alive some many years later, Issei sadly had no way of telling him about the potential whereabouts of his childhood friend. It would only be by chance that he would run into his old friend nearly a hundred plus more feet underground.

After playing a few Lupin tricks on his buddy, as he’s always gotta play some game with people Especially when he notices it’s his best friend who he hasn’t seen in a long while:

Lupin eventually reveals himself to Jigen However, Jigen, whose sanity up until this point had been holding on by a measly thread, assumed that Lupin was an illusion, more so a ghost. And because Jigen is scared of Ghosts, his first instinct when scared was shoot. However in typical Lupin fashion, Jigen missed and Lupin is more insulted then appalled.

"Why'd you shoot at me?!" "Cos' you scared the shit outta me! I thought you were a friggin' ghost, man!" "YOU CAN'T EVEN SHOOT GHOSTS!! The bullets would go right through!!" "Oh, yeah."

Upon realizing just who exactly he is talking too, the pair embrace like old friends. And in typical Lupin Media fashion, there is nothing like a classic, ridiculous, goofy-ass tomb-robbing scenario to jump start reigniting your relationship.

Especially when you guys nearly kill each other the first time.

Following the events in the Pyramid, Jigen attempts not to leave his old friends' side, fully intent on figuring out just Where in the hell Lupin had been this whole damn time. It's around this point however, that Jigen begins to notice that despite his wacky goofy nature still going strong, that Lupin does not appear to be himself anymore. He's more tight, serious, an odd personality he doesn't remember his old friend ever having.

As the day's go on, Jigen begins to also realize that while life doesn’t go back to the way it was when the boys were younger, and that it never would probably.

It does get somewhat better

In the beginning, things do end up being weird between the both of them because it had been so long and both of them don’t know how to talk or interact with each other cause both still don’t know how this could be happening after so many years.

However after small heists together, things begin to fall into place. Before the dramatic climax of TWCFM's final episodes, Lupin attempts to ease Jigen back into the partnership with small heists. The most important being when Lupin asks for Jigens help on a project, because it’s a big big job and he’s still hard of seeing because he has no sight in his one eye, which by now he basically gotten rid of and replaced with a glass eye, and his other eye is only as good as his contact lens. He needs Jigens help and it ends up being their first true series of heists the pair do together.

Jigen soon finds out that this project is a new, functioning prosthetic eye, that Lupin has built with the tools and items Jigen has helped him pilfer over the last few weeks. It’s top notch, highly sophisticated and it fits perfectly in Lupin’s eye socket.

Following the end of TWCFM's storyline, the pair are not far from each others side.

Then Gravestone happens. Gravestone is canon in my Ljs series because it's premise is suppose to stick as the final trust exercise between Jigen and Lupin after their reunion in the Pyramid to cement their partnership to the highest form it could be. The final nail in the coffin so to speak, solidifying their old and new partnership so to speak. Putting each others life and trust in one another where uncertainty grows.

Hi there! There are several things you can do:

Reading tarot for yourself

🌟 Make sure you do your reading when you are calm.

As in, free from any strong emotion, whether it's positive or negative. Some readers take a shower before they do a reading, some clean their space and light a candle and so on.

🌟 Take note of your intuitive pulls.

Take note of your intuitive impression of the cards. I'm not sure how other people experience it but in my case, it's the conclusion that I make when I first see the cards, it's usually instant.

Besides the quick conclusion, intuitive messages can come later as I focus more on the cards. How to know; from my experience, intuitive pull doesn't feel like anything, it doesn't make me feel negative, it doesn't make me feel positive. It just is. "This person is lying" but without me feeling the fear or anxiety.

🌟 Have valid reasonings.

As in, you need to have proof or reason to justify the interpretation you make. So when you read, explain to yourself why you make a certain interpretation, so you are clear about it and so that your interpretation is rooted in reason instead of in feelings like fear and insecurities.

Example: The Tower, The Empress, 10 of Cups. The Tower often represents something abrupt or surprising, so it could mean a sudden event, an event that can completely shift what I've already known. The Empress represents creation and abundance, 10 of Cups represents emotional fulfillment; so this could be a good surprise, something that will unfold in a way I don't expect it will, shocking maybe, but it will turn out good and beneficial for me. Both The Tower and The Empress are major arcana, in this case they have similar strength and influence, one is usually more negative and one is usually more positive. But because 10 of Cups is there, the reading is more likely to be talking about something positive, because 10 of Cups' positivity adds to The Empress' positivity; in combination, these two influence the meaning of The Tower. 🌟 Pretend you are doing a reading for someone else

It may not work for some people but you can try. Imagine you are interpreting it for someone else, what would you say to the querent, how would you explain the cards to the querent? You can record yourself or write your interpretation in a way that sounds like you are reading for another person.

Also, to further commemorate this anniversary, I wanted to share some additional thoughts.

I am not good at social media, I just lack the skills and conscious determination of content creators, I mostly post randomly and I put little to no effort into growing my follower base. I've never really tried to become "famous" here (ngl, when I was younger I envied the popular blogs a little), but generally speaking, I just really like to draw and I want to share it with people, maybe getting to know some new people, making new friends even. For me, Tumblr's main purpose is being a platform for fandom interactions. I love how Tumblr operates with a different logic than other social media sites, how you have actual control over your own experience as it is not run by algorithms.

That's why it makes me a little sad how "Tumblr Etiquette" is not respected nowdays. I've been here for 12 years, and I am very extroverted, I have no problem with new people using this website, really, the more the merrier. As I said above, I don't really care about notes and follower counts, and I am not easily discouraged by having only a few notes on the stuff that I post. If I would be, then I will definitely put more effort into what I draw and create only what received more notes. (E.g. the Lily red carpet look pic has 14 notes as of today, while the domestic wolfstar pic is over 300, yet I am sure that I will not exclusively draw wolfstar from now on.)

Case in point, what I wanted to actually talk about is the poor reblog-like ratio. It makes me sad because I desperately crave the interaction and a like goes completely unseen here. (I know that you can make your likes visible, but most people, me included, check their dashboards only, and will check likes of certain people only if they are specifically looking for something.) My main driver is not the exposure or recognition or whatever in itself I get on my drawings (it is certainly a nice bonus tho). I want to interact with people, and I can only do that if the stuff I post is seen by them, aka reblogged. On my main blog I almost only post my artwork (I've reblogged 158 posts only in the past 12 years), but I have a sideblog especially for reblogging purposes (which comes with the nice bonus of making my "likes" searchable, because the tagging system is truly a wonder).

About my translations

This post is meant to give you an idea of my skills and approach to translating, so you can go in informed of how it impacts the final result of what I post. I may add to this if it becomes worthwhile to do so in the future.

What I am

I have learned Japanese basically entirely through immersion as an exchange student and self-study.

I passed the JLPT at the N3 level during the July 2022 exam, and I plan to sit for the N2 in 2025. (There is too much going on in my life to do it in 2024.)

I began translating for fun in the spring of 2022 as a supplement to my JLPT studies, and I've been doing it ever since. I am only beginning to share these with others in spring 2024.

My husband is a native speaker, who I check with when I am unsure about my translation of something.

What I'm not

I have never taken Japanese as a second language, i.e. in the traditional school setting. In my experience, the result of this is that my skill is unusually high in some places and unusually weak in others, compared with people who learned it in a class made for foreign students.

I am not certified in any way as a translator - everything I do is based on the results that I personally feel give the best translation with the lowest amount of loss. I will be the first to tell you that there may be ways to do it better, but I only have myself as a teacher at this point. (Someday, I hope to change this.)

How I translate: I use a combination of tools to answer questions about words or phrases I don't know. These include Google Translate, Japanese forums for learning English, and Japanese dictionaries. I have an app called KanjiLookup for kanji I don't know. I want to note that I do not use machine translation (like Google translate) for entire sentences at all; if I can't grasp what's written without it, I double check with my husband to ensure accuracy.

Intent of text vs. direct-as-possible translation: I have tried both ways and translating intent into more natural language that captures as much meaning as possible produces better results imo. Especially in Japanese, direct translations are often stilted and I feel actually diminish what you take away from it sometimes if you don't speak both languages.

Translator's notes: I recently realized I could shove my opining and bonus fun facts into these. I try to use them if I think knowing what the direct translation was is useful or insightful, or to capture additional cultural context a reader may or may not know.

As a final note: while I am doing the best I possibly can to provide a quality translation, I am fallible and certain I will make mistakes sometimes. If you spot these, please DM me or send me an ask explaining what I did wrong, and how you would have done it differently instead. I'll review, and if I make a correction, will credit you in the edited post.

Hi! Would you like to explain how my portrayal of vsynths contrasts with Heron? I personally can’t figure out what makes it so interesting, since when I make Heron interact with other vsynths I rarely have a good idea of how they’ll work in mind, and just wing it.

hihi! i'd been meaning to get to this, so sure thing! for now i'll only focus on a few main ones that came to mind (i don't have a lot of brainpower atm 😔✌️) but i hope this is alright

mild disclaimer that some of this is based off information in older posts so i am aware that those prior details contained in them may no longer be canon. also again this just how i thought of/interpreted certain things, i'm obv not the og creator (you) so ultimately feel free to take this w/ a grain of salt since this might've not been the og intention.

also this is all under this cut here b/c it ended up being rly fckin long, sorry in advance if my explanations aren't very good 😭

so lets start w/ fukase; some of his character traits in your portrayal of him do seem to line up with some popular interpretations of him: silly guy/wisecracker who makes a lot of jokes, sometimes at the expense of others. also a he's a bit overdramatic ahdksjg. despite his sorta skewed goals, though, and behind that sassy attitude, he does really seem to care about people important to him. they're both very expressive characters (well in general everyone is depicted as very expressive in your art but thats an aside) but i think the way that is conveyed makes for an interesting contrast. fukase seems to show a lot more of his personality through his speech, while heron's personality is shown more through some of his actions. that's not to say heron is completely silent, but he does seem to save his words for more important occasions (or if he just really really feels like speaking his mind); whether that's because he's still a bit shy and/or just a quiet person in general, i'm not sure, but a lot more things with him seem to be conveyed through thoughts or external third-person commentary rather than him outright saying it. its definitely the opposite of fukase, who seems way more chatty and social. visually too there's a pretty neat contrast between them: aside from the height difference that sets them apart, both have limited color palettes that combine some neutral colors (fukase's off-white, black, and brown, heron's greys, muted teal, and tans) with a brighter color to pop out (fukase's bright red, heron's aqua seen on his collar + headphones).

flower and heron's relationship has previously been described as somewhat sibling-like, and it does definitely come off that way: there might be disagreements and rivalry but there's some calm nice/silly moments and genuine care & concern. they share a lot of similarities, but one could note how their relationship parallels that of heron & makarov's - flower occasionally takes on the more cheery and bubbly role in comparison to heron sometimes being the more serious and quiet one, which is seen reversed with the brothers. in spite of quarreling over small, petty little things sometimes, heron and flower seem to make up much easier and not hold any long-lasting resentment towards each other. i ofc know the heron & makarov situation is more complicated and it would make sense for it to be more strained given all that's happened, even in spite of heron forgiving his brother. but i do also wonder if it's been difficult for flower to try and calm heron down on certain occasions, seeing how he's also prone to spirals of his own thoughts that are hard to pull him out of, in a way very similar to his own brother. something sorta ironic there maybe

piko's interesting, pretty much the wild card here. his characterization does seem to vary quite a bit: he can be very playful and cutesy but also kind of a downer, as well as an angry little guy and a bit more ominous/spooky at times. there was a noteworthy point mentioned in this post though regarding how piko sees heron: heron reminds him of his younger self and wants to spare him of the pain that comes with getting your naive dreams of fame and popularity crushed. they're both very similar to each other, from the moodiness to being drawn—sometimes together—in a lot of pieces w/ similar subject matter (both have a fair share of lighthearted doodles as well as darker ones, more so in specific comparison with other characters), and taking the previously mentioned piko thoughts on heron, makes things a little bit sadder... maybe piko's current passive-aggressive and somewhat angry attitude is a mask he's developed over the years to protect himself from getting hurt more, though you can get to his nicer side if he trusts you enough. heron sometimes seems like a slight, cruel opposite of this: being nice and trusting others a bit too easily, but then breaking down emotionally in realizing his choices and impulsive actions, which might scare some people away. i want them to be happy kajhskj but i do wonder if, in spite of how much heron might look up to him, piko really feels the same way. i'm sure he does care about him, but... feelings is complicated. also i wasn't gonna touch on too much of this since i'm aware its not canon, but there's also the whole tall piko thing and how that version of piko specifically interacts with heron. that relationship in particular seems to represent an idealization: some sort of true happiness that'll come once there's an acceptance of the self, and a real willingness to accept help and be vulnerable to allow oneself to be healed... but again that's not canon and might not ever happen so, rip

and of course... there's len. i touched upon this in that original headcanon post but i did still wanna bring it up a little here. something i thought was interesting in looking back at a lot of your art was that most times, len is depicted in group settings; he's rarely seen alone and almost always interacting with someone else in some way. and generally he seems quite concerned, even more so in his interactions w/ heron. aside from the obvious fear of getting mauled to death probably lmao, he also seems to genuinely care about heron and worries about him. i think its worth noting that len is the first person heron sees after "waking up" here, and how he's the only one actually putting a hand on heron there in second-to-last panel. but again, even if len does have good intentions it is clear heron doesn't seem to be on the best terms with him. this piece has always been particularly intriguing to me, pairing what we see happening with the title. makes me think heron's blaming len for what happened to him, that it's len's fault somehow he ended up like this. a big thing also that's part of the len getting mauled thing is... len getting dismembered and eaten. i'm not gonna say too too much b/c i'm sure nobody wants to hear my cannibalism rambling but symbolically... "you are what you eat" yk? as mentioned with piko, heron seems to look up to a lot of the well-known vsynths and wants to achieve a status like them. and ofc len's arguably one of the most popular vocaloids with lot of fame and recognition. heron's design itself is said to take some inspo from len's outfit, and in general (like i mentioned in the original hc post), just wanting to be so much like someone, wanting what they have but not getting it, that might understandably drive someone to rage, and the mauling/dismembering/eating is the violent culmination of those feelings of envy. one last bonus point in terms of visuals too: yellow is the complimentary color to blue (ok ik heron's blues lean more towards blue-grey or aqua but shhhh), the literal opposite of it on the color wheel.

overall i feel heron honestly fits right in with the memesquad; everyone's personalities sort of compliment and mesh well with each other, which creates a fun dynamic that's really sweet to see. i think its really cool how you managed to make him fit in so well and how a lot of his interactions with the others make a lot of sense and are interesting to see, in happy moments as well as more serious/sad ones. sometimes i do really forget he's not a vsynth [yet?] so its surreal. ur doing a really good job tho, keep heronposting we love to see it

I don’t know what your entire relationship with your mother is like, I’m only going based on that post about compliments at a young age and how it impacted you mentally. I’d really recommend not holding that against her. I know it fucked you up, but kids are not an exact science, and there’s so many strange contradictory ways they can get fucked up. Parents learn if they’re too harsh on their kids it will fuck them up, if they’re too nice to their kids it will fuck them up, and if they’re neutral and hands off with their kids it will fuck them up. In the end you have to parent in some fashion, and you just hope you’re doing the right thing

I understand that parenting is hard, and impossible to do perfectly. It's why I never want to be one.

To be clear, I don't blame it all on her. Both of my parents were unintentionally neglectful. Worn down by work and their own personal struggles. Also my Dad ended up getting addicted to drugs and alcohol when I was young (11, so not even a teen) and that increased his neglectfulness too. Made me scared of him because he'd raise his voice a lot.

But back to my mother.

She also told me to suppress my emotions. Even straight up to the point of telling me that I wasn't allowed to feel certain emotions, if it was something she didn't want to see. Showing sadness or even happiness at the wrong moments would cause her to snap at me. She decided I wasn't allowed to be happy when she wasn't. That it was my job to cater to her wants and emotions at all times.

She also openly admitted to using me as an emotional punching bag because she knew I wouldn't fight back ("I hurt you because you were there and I knew you wouldn't do anything" - something she actually said to me), as well as re-enacting her own emotional abuse that she experienced from her own parents on to me in order to validate that her reactions were normal and that she was supposed to become upset.

So her being not giving me enough positive attention is ultimately among the lesser evils of her attempts at parenting (if you can even call it parenting...), all things considered.

Miscellaneous neglect: I also was hardly ever taken to the doctor or to the dentist as a child (before you say bills, we have universal healthcare here so there's no excuse), and I was never taught how to take care of myself or even how to tie my shoes. The house was always filled with actual garbage on the floor as well, some almost as tall or taller than child me, so neither of my parents took proper responsibility for cleaning either. Dirty dishes would be left in the sink, filling with mold and bugs, etc. It was disgusting. Overall, I didn't have a good childhood.

I don't understand why my parents chose to have kids when they clearly couldn't even take care of themselves. But I guess that will just always be a mystery to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All of the neglect and abuse combined is likely why I'm so mentally ill. I've also experienced trauma because of other people, both inside and outside the family. But this ask was about my mother specifically so I'll stop there.

It's true that in the particular post referenced, I very largely oversimplified what happened to me. But it's better for getting more notes if you keep things simple and condensed, rather than a full explaination.

Anyway... I'm not mad anon; I know you mean well. But, in the future, I would say it's better not to comment on other people's feelings about their parents/family, especially when you don't know the full story.

Lots of people on the vent side of Tumblr have experienced a lot of neglect and abuse from their parents, and what's written in one post usually just barely scratches the surface of the pain they experienced.

He seems very excited to get the gang back together.

"Are you ready for this Vigilance-laden hellscape?" Oh god, not this one. Okay, what region are we going with? "Galar!" Oh, fuck off.

General Overview Galar is the absolute worst region to do extreme battles for. There is exactly one (1) F2P pair that isn't a general pool 5*, and it's Hop. Who, news flash, sucks on this fight. He's not atrocious, he can boost defenses a bit and has his Potion and First Aid. But Galar is slow as dirt, and Hop does not help that one bit, so Sonia is a fairly significant requirement. More on that later. The point is, Galar is terrible, because you're constantly at the mercy of the gacha, and usually, the mercy of limited pairs.

To make matters worse, how about a fight that blanks critical hits, cutting your damage really sharply, and which also has Sentry Entry x2 to just neuter physical damage? How about that? Are you having fun yet, region that is entirely physical? I will be stunned if the next two are somehow worse than this one. The choice of stage and region combines into such an unbelievable shitfest.

The Lone Special Attacker Even if you extend your definition of F2P to include the general pool, there is one (1) damage dealer with special. Allister. Who, to be honest, I think kinda sucks. Now, you may notice something weird here. Allister landed a crit. I'm going to keep it real with you. I don't know how he did that. I think, though I am admittedly not certain, that status negates the crit removal effect. I couldn't find any skill activating that explained this. I'm still confused. But assuming status matters. This also compounds issues, because of Resilience, and the team removing status on sync. This fight sucks, bro.

Anyway, the structure is fairly simple. Sonia is requires for defense boosts so you don't die, and for speed boosts so you can attack. Melony's Sing is the early game disruption to stall out extra turns. Allister's damage is fine, he can definitely get the job done. My Allister is not EX, but my Sonia and Melony are, and they both took sync. This might matter. Or it might not. I never know.

The Unbeatablest Being Fire-weak has one merit, and that is that Leon stocks are high. His ability to burn should allow him to bypass the crit blocking, but I think the Supereffective tag shows over the crit tag, so I can't be too certain. The point is, Leon eviscerates this stage. Inferno is bonkers damage, and his Max Move really seals the deal, as the combination with Gordie allows for both Tar Shot stacking and another Fire-type Max Move to set Sun. This fight is also worth noting Melony as the tank. She can survive at least long enough for Leon to finish the job, but please understand, they are too physically frail to take sync, and the gauges are an atrocity. On the plus side, this is 1/5 uninvested Leon, so like...he can do it.

DeNA's Least Favorite Rerun Bede always, always gets rerun around major anniversary events, and thus has never once caught a break. He's never even been made available on paid scouts as far as I'm aware. But if you have him, this is where Bede shines. The coverage of massive debuffing, three on-type damage options with major Max Moves, reflection of status; Bede handles a lot of tricks that Extreme Battles like to throw around, and this one is no different. As you can probably tell from that number. Bede is nuts, and I keep Gordie around because he also contributes the Sun with his own Fire rebuff. Sonia, despite not doing much for Bede's offenses, gets you physical defense to not die from, and can, if RNG permits, inflict paralysis with Spark.

Piercing Blows, but Watch Out To really seal the deal on how wretched this action was, consider that BT Leon is the only Piercing Blows pair available in this region...and he's physical, so Sentry Entry messes him up anyway. The Buddy move debuffing attack is the only saving grace on this comp. I brought Nessa to reference the AoE Def Debuffing if you're desperate, but under no circumstance was she optimal. Leon's also worth noting for the Will-o-Wisp, but I'm legitimately unsure of who I'd even partner him with. Galar just gets so few general pool options to work with. If only Kabu were here...

Final Thoughts There are others. Any of the Galar Neo Champions can likely handle this fight; Bede's defensive enough, Hop I believe bypasses Vigilance on Buddy move, Marnie's special and thus ridiculous. Dojo Gloria's more than capable, especially with her Max Move bypassing that Vigilance check. Challenger Gloria is likely just as capable, given the Fire type thing. There's probably a good method to clear with Anni Raihan too, but I admittedly don't like using him as the damage dealer.

This one is rough, guys. The general pool for Galar is in shambles, and DeNA continues to refuse BP pairs. Maybe one day we will know justice, but (1) I doubt it, and (2) we're just going to have the same problem but worse with Paldea in like six months.

I know you don't really plan too much, but I gotta ask, partly out of curiosity and partly because I'm totally down for tips: how do you keep track of all the details concerning all your OCs? How do you build each of their storylines and flesh them out so well? (Also, do you keep notes in docs just for OCs, or do you just sort of keep details about them spread across posts? Like, in general, how does your track-keeping work?)

Feel free to ignore this one if you prefer keeping your original fic and fanfic separately, but you mentioned Power Rangers fic?? 8) Which seasons and what about? (Miiiiight secretly be trash for specific seasons myself, haha.)

question 1: I have a few methods and they all work together in a chaotic way.

first of all, I have a really good visual memory. when I combine visual and kinesthetic together by typing down information, I can keep it in my brain pretty easily. I also combine the rubber duck method and explain my character facts and arcs to my purple walls and whatever actor has been in whatever thing I've most recently watched. sometimes my mom, but she can't remember whatever I told her last time, so it's not super helpful. I also tell writeblr friends, like you, or Dreamy when she's like "Sleepy don't you have any new tidbits for me about Jet pretty please" and I'm like "I guess I can come up with something" and then I remember even more.

second, I use scrivener, and whatever info I come up with either during ask games or randomly, I just stick it in the folder for that. youth story, anxiety story and rain story have their own docs. summon, magick and city are all in another doc (but this hnnnng...might change soon) and there are folders inside folders. here is the current state of affairs:

I don't always label everything the same, but I could, if I took the time.

third, I sometimes write up character stats by hand to help with memory, too, and sometimes write down ideas or snatches of scenes or sketch maps and stuff. writing and typing have there own spaces in the brain, apparently, so they sit different. in my current writing journal, I have a whole bunch of summon story notes, meta-portal character stats, scenes from youth story, poetry that I was writing from memory, and random sentences.

fourth, I have character tags, and if I've put any kind of details about a certain character in a post, I'll tag it accordingly. we all know tumblr's searching function is bunk, but if I click the tag c: zan, then I will see all the posts that relate specifically to him. I just detailed a bunch of stuff about Moss for Dreamy, and tagged the ask so I can find it again when I'm trying to remember if I ever told anyone that Moss likes to do crossword puzzles.

fifth, there is no fifth. my main method is the first one. I just retain information the best if I repeat it to myself out loud and then also write it down. so that's what I do. same as at work. if I want to remember something, I repeat it out loud several times and then also sometimes write it down on my hand for later.

you gotta find what your learning type is and allow yourself to find methods that utilize and benefit from it. I'll never be able to glean information from audiobooks or podcasts, but I can watch video essays and learn a lot. because I'm visual, and secondarily kinesthetic, so I work with that. do what works for you!

question 2:

I had planned on writing for all the episodes that were most beloved to me in a whole bunch of series, but ultimately, the only fic I've written to vague conclusion (it's still unfinished at 7K) is for Power Rangers Samurai. I wrote it out of frustration and spite because I was so underwhelmed with the writing of that season/set of seasons. also I don't think Mike was anyone's favorite character but he was mine, so I did my usual "insert oc to make canon characters confront their feelings" thing but I don't think I'll ever finish this one. I'd like to get around to writing stuff for the other series like Ninja Storm, RPM, Wild Force, Dino Charge and Time Force. nothing can make me write fix-it fic for Mystic Force, though. even the franchise refuses. we've done dinosaurs FOUR TIMES NOW and we still can't get a magic power ranger do-over.

my favorite series is RPM, if you're curious. wait, not only do I have to write the mercenary wip for you, but I have to write power rangers fic for you??

I'd do it, though. you know I would. do you know? I'm am externally motivated. if I want to be internally motivated, I have to create external stimuli. that could be you.

oof, why do I have so many stories? the people who can write one thing at a time are champions of this sport.

I can't really say anything about Gil Galad apparently having authority to send people to Valinor that hasn't already been said. It makes no sense to anyone who understands how this works. But in context it's a brutally incisive political move against Galadriel.

Hitting Galadriel's refusal to go West so hard is not a bad theme to give a lot of weight to, all things considered
