It absolutely sucks the Hadestown crew felt Chant Reprise had to be shortened because they REALLY struck poetic gold with the broadway Persephone lines: “When I was a young girl like you, this old world was younger too. We set it spinning hand in hand, me and a young man” and “It was love that spun the world when I was a young girl!” The lost love between these two ancient deities being what caused the cycle of the seasons and thus the spinning of the earth is just SUCH a cool image and while I do understand cutting bits out to make the story tighter, it’s a bummer it had to lose some of the best lines because of it.
