y/nmusic lewis carl davidson hamilton, where do i begin? at the start, when we first met? or just last week when you pampered me after a rough day? you never fail to make me smile. your work ethic is truly inspiring, i am low-key jealous of it. you push me to do my best and be my most authentic self, i thank you greatly for that, my love. i am so immensely lucky to wake up next to you every morning, to come home to you every day, and to call you mine. you have no idea how happy i was when you asked me that important question, that was and will forever be the best day of my life. you were the one at the end of my invisible string and i would not have wanted it ANY other way 💘 i cannot wait to grow old and wrinkly with you even though i know you will look the same you do now at 70 😅 you are my everything, i love you so much ❤️

lewishamilton Happy 6 year anniversary to you, my heart. On this day last year, I asked you to be my forever, and you said yes. You are the kindest, most creative person I know and will ever meet. Your hardwork and dedication to your art is admirable. Sometimes I have to take a step back and ask myself "How am I so lucky?" You are the sun to my moon, the sky to my earth. You are a breath of fresh air on a hot day. A calming rain on a stressful one. You never fail to melt my worries away. Overall, you are a ray of sunshine. You are my lifeline, my support system, and my world 💞 There are so many more things I have to say about you, but I don't think that Instagram will let me 😅 You make my heart melt, I love you so much, my love 🖤

Inception
Ateez Ot8 x Reader
Chapter 30
There's still a bit of time left in the poll, but I'm not sure the result will change that drastically in that amount of time 😅. If it does... 🤷‍♀️ guess I'll just make another post.
Tumblr media
I’ve been avoiding them.
Err, well, some of them. Mostly Yunho and Seonghwa, but Hongjoong’s made the list too considering I haven’t quite forgiven him since the last time we spoke. It felt like I was in a constant war with my own feelings. Torn between just giving into them and seeing where they got me and tamping them down so I could at least pretend these men didn’t have as much hold over me as they truly did. Of course, the eight of them lived to make sure that was damn near impossible.
San’s been set on fetching me for every meal, making sure I at least had dinner with them if I hadn’t seen them at some point throughout the day. Wooyoung had a tendency to sniff me out. Whether for his own entertainment or to pull me out of the misery that’s been my thoughts, remained to be seen, but it was never boring with him. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen together. There’s even been a couple of times I’d wandered the halls and seen Yunho and Mingi outside in the courtyard, sparring with one another.
My mother had pretty much taken over Yunho’s recovery. Only a couple of days after that night in the library where two of the last three bonds had been confirmed, Yunho was back on his feet. Much steadier and ready to get back to training. Mingi indulged him of course. Wooyoung told me it was in an attempt to distract him. Thinking it would allow me to have a few more days of space before Yunho would come to find me.
“And have no doubt. He will come find you. Eventually.” Wooyoung chuckled, scraping the vegetables into the stew we had made for dinner one evening.
Hence, my avoiding Yunho. But even I knew how much of a coward I was being. I couldn’t avoid the topic of what had happened between us forever. But I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. What would happen if I let things progress between him and I? What does that mean for our bond? Or the bonds I shared with the others? Exactly what would I be getting myself into? I was still very much ignorant to not only them as royals, but also the entire world their dragon halves thrived in.
I was caught in limbo between my bonds and what to do about them, but also what I should do about the only one who had refused to find out. I was a fool to think Seonghwa and I were getting closer. He didn’t seem the type. Especially not with someone he’s only known a handful of weeks and has shared a couple of late-night snacks with. But at least when I didn’t know any better, I could act normal around him. Now, I wasn’t sure what I should say or how I should treat him. Ignorance is bliss as they say. And it truly was.
I hardly ever saw hide or hair of Hongjoong and Yeosang. But according to Wooyoung and San, the two of them typically locked themselves away in the library with work or reviewing war strategies. Lately, I’ve been told they’ve been keeping themselves occupied with the hunters we had run into back in Tregeron. Mingi had said it wasn’t anything to worry about for now, but they were on the move. Some had settled in Kriton, just beyond the walls of the castle. So, for now, my mother and I were informed we shouldn’t be outside unattended just to be safe.
But outside in the fresh air was where I could think the clearest. The way the air felt charged right before a storm was about to blow in, the scent of rain lingering in the atmosphere. I both loved and hated it. The scent was intoxicating, but I couldn’t definitively say if it’s because I hadn’t ever seen much rain in Tregeron, or Nirian while I lived there, or if it’s because the smell reminded me of Hongjoong. In a way, I was thankful we were told to have company outside. It served as a good distraction from those thoughts. And Jongho was an excellent distraction.
He had taken it upon himself to attend me in my daily walks. Most of the time it was spent in silence, but every once in a while I was able to get him to engage in conversation. I learned that it wasn’t that he didn’t want to talk, but rather he struggled on what to say sometimes. But any time the conversation veered towards Serith, it was like his struggles disappeared and he couldn’t sing the praises of his kingdom enough. He was proud of his kingdom. That much was obvious, and I loved hearing about it.
Having never traveled further than Tregeron apart from Nirian, the other kingdoms always fascinated me. As a little girl I always looked forward to hearing about my dad’s travels across the country. But when I wasn’t outside with Jongho, I spent as much time as I could with my mother. When she wasn’t with Yunho that is.
“Alright, let’s hear it.” She sighed, fluffing out one of my skirts I had given her to mend.
“What?” I asked confused, looking up from the book Yeosang had given me on the history of the kingdoms.
“I’m not oblivious, Y/N. Something happened between you and the kings. Now, are you going to talk to me about it, or keep pretending as if everything’s fine?”
Now it was my turn to trade sighs as I looked out the window next to the chair I was in. It overlooked the courtyard, the entire grounds bathed in an orange glow as the sun began to sink over the horizon. Below, Mingi and Yunho were sparring again. The two were trading blows, big smiles splitting their features as they parried cheap shots against one another in an attempt to get an upper hand over the other. Every once in a while, Mingi’s bellowing laughter could be heard echoing through the yard.
“I’m just… confused.” I murmured, watching the two.
“About?”
“What to do.” I grumbled, finally tearing my eyes away from Mingi and Yunho to look at my mom. “I’m bonded to seven of them. How am I supposed to navigate a relationship under these circumstances? How am I supposed to pick one of them when I struggle with just the thought of doing so?”
“Then why are you forcing yourself to choose?”
“Are you telling me to not choose any of them at all?”
She shook her head, small smile lifting the corner of her mouth as she snipped the piece of thread she’d been working with.
“I’m telling you that you shouldn’t worry about choosing right now. Worry about that if it comes to it, for now, enjoy your time with all of them. Let your feelings grow, maybe that’ll make it easier for you down the road.”
“But isn’t that wrong? To keep dragging them along?”
“Mmm.” She hummed, double checking her work and dropping it once she was satisfied to look at me. “The way I see it, is that they’re all aware they’re bonded to you. Yet, still choose to pursue you. They want to be close to you and if you keep pushing them away, you won’t be any closer to finding more about what you want. They’re big boys, Y/N. They can make their own decisions and face the risks and handle the consequences. Don’t take away their choice in this matter when it involves them just as much as it does you.”
She stood from her seat, carrying my skirt with her before placing it on the table in front of me. Her hand lifted to rest on top of my shoulder, fussing with the errant strands of hair around my face.
“Your father and I wanted you to find someone you loved. Someone you could spend the rest of your life with.” She said softly, lifting my face so I could meet her eyes. “I was worried you wouldn’t find it with them, but I was wrong. I can tell by the way they look at you how much they care just like I can tell how much you care about them. So, don’t turn away from that because of fear. Let them in and let your feelings grow. Love them.”
Although I knew it didn’t solve all my problems, my mother’s words eased the burden on my heart significantly. Before I could stop myself, I wrapped my arms around her tightly. I could feel the familiar sting of unshed tears gathering behind my eyes and I closed them hoping to keep them at bay. I didn’t know if I could let everything go, but I wanted to try. My heart hurt trying to stay away from them and ached every time I tried to force down the feelings that were developing. I was tired of trying to fight the inevitable.
“Thank you.” I murmured. “I needed the reassurance.”
“Of course. You’re my daughter. All I want is to see you happy. And your father would want the same.” She whispered, returning my hug.
A quiet knock at the parlor door separated us. Together, we looked towards the door just as it opened to show Yeosang peeking his head around it.
“Am I interrupting?”
“Not at all.” My mom grinned at him brightly, motioning for him to enter. “We were just talking.”
Yeosang opened the door enough for him to fill the doorway but made no move to enter as he acknowledged my mother’s words.
“I won’t stay long. I came to let you know that Wooyoung, Yunho, Jongho, and I were leaving this evening. There’s been word of uprisings along the borders of Merene and Lodor, so we’re going to contain the situation before it could get much worse.”
“Uprisings?” I asked worriedly, setting my book down on the table.
“Factions of the organizations dealing with hunters. Every once in a while they’ll stir up trouble. Nothing to be too concerned about.”
“When will you be leaving?” Mother asked, worry clouding her eyes just as much as I’m sure it did my own.
“Now. I just wished to say goodbye before I left.” He smiled softly, eyes drifting over to me.
The look behind his gaze was longing. Almost as if he wished he didn’t have to go, but his responsibilities dictated that he must.
“I should probably see them off then.”
I looked to my mom in surprise. Wondering exactly why she would feel the need to do so, until I noted the quick pat she left on Yeosang’s arm as she walked past him. She was giving us privacy. Yeosang watched her leave, waiting until she was a good distance down the hall before stepping further into the room.
“How long will you be gone?”
“I’m not sure. There’s a good possibility that the revolt is planned and being used as a distraction for something else. That’s why half of us are staying here.”
He didn’t say it directly, but he didn’t have to. They were splitting up because of me. Of course, it wasn’t as if mother and I would be totally vulnerable if they all decided to go, but I was sure they wouldn’t risk it.
“Mingi said it wasn’t something to be worried about.” I said softly, feeling the worry begin to build.
“For Mingi, it really isn’t.” Yeosang chuckled, attempting to joke. “The man’s monstrous. I’m not sure anything could stop him.”
Partial anxiety of what was to come and the rest stemming from the knowledge that I was to be separated from some of them again. Only this time, I was bonded to more than just two or three.
“Last time we split up…” One of you got injured…
I trailed off feeling myself about to choke on the words. Yeosang crossed the room in a handful of strides, his hands finding purchase on my arms as he rubbed his thumbs into them to soothe me.
“Hey, we’ll be fine. I’ll keep an extra eye on Yunho this time.”
“It’s not only him and you know it.” I whispered, dropping my gaze.
“You’re right.” He sighed, finger hooking under my chin to lift my eyes to his again. “But I didn’t want to assume your feelings when it comes to the rest of us. I know you’re overwhelmed-“
“I care for you. All of you. I can’t deny that anymore.” My words were soft, but the conviction was firm. I wrapped my fingers around his wrist as if I were trying to prove to him how solid my resolve was now. “And I won’t. I don’t want to hold back my feelings any longer.”
I could have pat myself on the back with the way Yeosang lit up at my words. The happiness infectious as I returned his smile, but I quickly became shy when he leaned forward to kiss my forehead.
“I’m happy to hear it. But I hate that I must leave right as you’ve made your decision.” His smile turned self-deprecating as he pulled away. “Will you say goodbye to the others as well?”
“I’d like to.”
“Then I’d be glad to escort you.”
And in true royalty fashion, Yeosang held out his arm for me to link mine with. If it were anyone other than Yeosang offering, I probably would have laughed simply because this was something I would read in fairy tales as a little girl, not an act meant for someone like me to experience in real life. But he did it so naturally that it didn’t feel surreal. Although even as I wrapped my hands around him, I couldn’t keep the smile off my face.
“Thank you.” I grinned, leaning into him ever so slightly.
“Don’t thank me yet. I’m just using every excuse to touch you seeing as I’ll be gone for who knows how long.”
“So you have ulterior motives in your kindness?” I lifted an eyebrow teasingly.
“That makes me sound devious and I promise you that my intentions are innocent.” He chuckled, pausing right before emerging from the hall to turn to me.
He dropped his arm that I had ahold of, wrapping it around my waist to pull me against his chest. I stumbled into him, the action catching me by surprise. He dipped his head, nose touching mine as he hummed lowly.
“Mostly.” He murmured.
Raucous laughter that I immediately recognized as Mingi’s broke Yeosang’s hold over me. My cheeks bursting into flames almost as fast as I was backpedaling from him. I cupped them, willing the redness away while Yeosang looked down at me fondly. He turned his attention towards the front entrance where the noises were coming from.
“Shall we?”
Around the corner, half of them had gathered to see the four leaving off. Hongjoong and Seonghwa were missing, although it didn’t appear to put a damper on anyone’s spirits. Mingi was having fun teasing Wooyoung while San was deep in conversation with Jongho. The only one to immediately notice my presence was Yunho. He straightened as I approached, looking much steadier on his two legs than the last time I had seen him. I gave him a small smile, the worry of whether he was healthy enough to be stopping an uprising flashing through my mind before Yeosang’s hand on my back thwarted that train of thought.
“Y/N came to say goodbye.”
“Don’t we feel special.” Wooyoung grinned. “Both ladies in the house have come to see us off.”
So my mother saying she wanted to say her goodbyes wasn’t just as excuse then.
“Well I couldn’t let you all leave without wishing you luck.”
“No matter your reason, I’ll take it.” He winked. “But I only accept one means of goodbye.”
“What’s that?”
The Cheshire smile that spread on his face, lifting his cheeks and crinkling his eyes would have been breathtaking if it didn’t contain the underlying sneakiness.
“A kiss. Normally it’s a heftier toll, but for you, kitten, I’ll take one here.” He tapped his cheek invitingly.
“Is that so?” San teased, throwing an arm around Wooyoung’s shoulders. “In that case, you better come here.”
His lips puckered, leaning down to plant a kiss on Wooyoung who’s face morphed into panic as he tried shoving San away.
“Yah! Not from you!” He shouted, ducking under San’s arm to escape.
My laugh blended with San’s and Mingi’s, the latter deciding the opportunity was too good to pass up as he tried grabbing Wooyoung to keep him still so San could steal his kiss. Wooyoung’s screeching wasn’t allowed to go on for long as Yeosang decided to interfere before it could get too much worse.
“Alright you three. Break it up.”
As if his absence from my side was the opening he’d been waiting for, Yunho approached me. The awkwardness lingering between us not going unnoticed as he was hesitant to move any closer. Keeping a good few feet between him and I.
“I’d like to talk when I get back. About us.”
I nodded. “I’d like that. I haven’t exactly been fair to you and I’m sorry I’ve been avoiding you lately.”
“After what I did?” One corner of his mouth quirked up, barely. “I let myself get carried away and I shouldn’t have.”
I reached out to him, my fingers gripping one of his sleeves. “We can talk about it later. Just, be careful. Okay?”
“I will.”
His large hand wrapped around my own, lifting it at the same time he ducked to meet it halfway. His lips barely brushed against the back of palm before pulling away. A shrill sound of disgust caught my attention. Wooyoung rubbing his cheek furiously, obviously disgruntled as he ripped himself away from San, nearly knocking into Yunho.
“Can we just leave already?” He grumbled, easy going attitude from earlier having disappeared.
I couldn’t keep from snickering at his discontent. His physical affection erred on side of giving rather than receiving apparently. Hoping to restore his mood a little, I crossed the couple of feet towards him. He was still trying to scrub away the remnants of San’s kiss as I cupped his chin and lifted myself onto my toes to place a kiss of my own on his opposite cheek. He looked surprised, quiet snickers leaving Mingi and San as Wooyoung struggled to rebound. Even Yunho letting out a soft snort as he headed for the doors.
“The sooner we leave, the sooner we can get back.” Yeosang reminded everyone, approaching me once more. “I’ll try to wrap things up quickly.” He promised.
I started to nod and wish him luck, my actions cut off as his arm came around me again. And much like he had in the hall earlier, he pulled me into him, head ducking in the next second. But instead of rubbing noses, his lips found mine. Pressing a gentle kiss to my own that lasted only a handful of seconds before he retreated. It was my turn to reciprocate shock. My eyes darting to the others in the room, cheeks aflame once again before looking at Yeosang.
“No holding back, remember?” He whispered, releasing me. “Let’s go.”
The command pulled everyone else out of their stupor. Jongho and Yunho heading outside while Wooyoung blinked several times. He frowned.
“Now wait a minute. I didn’t know we could do that. Y/N-“
“No time. Let’s go.” Yeosang chirped, grabbing ahold of a pouting Wooyoung and steering him away from me.
Wooyoung whined the whole way. Attempting to get Yeosang to allow him just a few extra seconds with me.
“There’s no such thing as “just a few extra seconds” with you. You’ll just ask for more.” Yeosang grunted, shoving Wooyoung out the door.
San shut it behind them before I could hear Wooyoung’s reply. His eyes meeting Mingi’s as a wide smile revealed two perfect rows of teeth.
“It’s so much quieter with him gone.”
“You’re one to talk.” Mingi jabbed, ducking from San as he tried to pull him into a headlock.
“Neither of you should be making passes at the other. You’re both loud.” I laughed. “How about dinner? I’ll cook since Wooyoung is gone.”
San jumped on the offer, feet carrying him behind me quickly as we made our way to the kitchens.
“Can I help?” He asked excitedly.
“Can you cook?”
Mingi snickered behind us. Just as I made to look over my shoulder, San stepped in my line of sight.
“I made that stew at the campsite! Remember?”
He was right. He did make the stew under the supervision of my mom. And technically, I’d be there to supervise this time around too.
“Okay. You can help.”
He was even more excited once I accepted. His hand grasping mine to tug me along faster. I could hear Mingi’s heavy footsteps following us, his hand grabbing my other one.
“If he’s helping, I am too.”

Aita for telling my partner they smell bad and that I won’t have sex with them?
😅 to identify this later. Also, this is gonna feature talk about pubic hygiene and sex
Okay so, to set the stage, both me (M) and my partner (NB) are in our mid twenties with a small age gap. Both of us have had partners before but I think that I may have a lot more sexual experience than them
We met at work three years ago and became best friends, only recently falling in love and starting a relationship. I’d do anything for my partner and I love them to death. I’ve been treated really badly by previous partners so it was very nice to start dating someone who is as kind and considerate as my current partner
Unfortunately, the two of us have different ideas of hygiene down there 👇. I’m transgender, I haven’t had bottom surgery, and I have a vagina. I keep it clean and I keep my bush trimmed because I’ve discovered that hair really holds in unwanted smells. Honestly, I keep my downstairs ready to rumble at any time (a product of being treated terribly by exes and having an outrageously low libido)
My partner is… the exact opposite
They’re AMAB and have a penis. They don’t shave down there and have told me they only wash down there once a week or whenever they know they’re gonna be spending a lot of time with me. It doesn’t help that they naturally sweat a lot. I know they can’t control the sweat, but I’ve been with enough AMAB people to know how hygiene down there is supposed to work
Recently, we took a huge step in our relationship and had sex for the first time with each other, which is how I know most of the info above. They took off their clothes and what I first thought was a natural musk quickly became unpleasant. I hesitated and they asked if I wanted to stop what we were doing. I said no, but that I didn’t think I was ready for oral or penetration. I really didn’t want them to feel bad about the smell, nor did I want to ruin the moment, so we continued. Honestly, we still had a good experience and I’m excited to do it again with them.
Afterwards, they checked in on me and asked if they’d crossed any of my boundaries, referencing back to my hesitation and switch up. I didn’t want to lie to them, but I also didn’t want to hurt their feelings, so I said that I was fine while making the 😬 face, hoping to make the situation lighter and to make them laugh. They asked me if it was because of the smell, I nodded smally, and they started laughing while covering their face, mentioning how they’d specifically washed beforehand
I laughed with them and made self deprecating jokes about myself and how I could’ve performed better (also some searching for the clit jokes because they, uh, couldn’t find it like four different times and had to be instructed on what to do with it 😭), and we ended the night on a light note, but it’s been eating me up inside that I’ve made them insecure. All this happened last night and we haven’t talked yet. I don’t think they’ll bring it up, but I don’t want this to ruin our sexual relationship. It’s been a long time since I’ve been with someone who treats me so well that I’ve also had so much fun with
I’d completely understand if my instincts are right and that I’m the asshole for telling them that they smelled, but my friends say that I’m fine. So, tumblr, Aita?
TL;DR, my partner and I do the horizontal tango together, but I have to stop and change it up because of how they smell down there. Aita for telling them about it afterwards?
What are these acronyms?

The following morning Alcina calls on one of her maids to have a carriage prepared.
"Daughters!" She calls from the foyer of the castle. Bela, Daniela and Cassandra appear in front of her.
"I have some things to take care of outside the castle. Bela, I am placing you in charge until I return."
"But mom!" Daniela cries.
"No fair she always gets to be in charge!" Cassandra argues.
"My decision is final." She says, quieting the arguments of the two girls. "Bela, please keep an eye on things, I shall be back before dinner tonight."
"Yes mother." Bela replies.
"Where are you going?" Daniela asks, looking up at her mother.
"I have a few matters I must discuss with Lady Beneviento."
"Aunt Donna!" Daniela says with excitement.
"Can we come? I want to see Angie!" Cassandra says, making Alcina chuckle.
It's always trouble when the three girls, well, Daniela and Cassandra mostly, get together with Angie.
"Not this time girls." Her response is met with a chorus of disappointment. "I must be off. Please try and behave yourselves while I'm out."
The three girls hug Alcina and she gives each of them a kiss on the top of their heads, wrapping her arms around them. Alcina exits the castle as the three girls swarm away.
You're awoken by a knock on the door, you turn towards the sound and roll back over, pretending to be asleep; desperately hoping whoever is at the door leaves. Much to your dismay, the door opens and the room fills with the smell of breakfast. The maid puts the tray on the table and you wait for her to leave. To your dismay once again, you see the maid walk around your bed, shutting your eyes before you can see who it is you pretend to stay asleep, avoiding any kind of interaction.
The maid walks over to the windows and pulls open the thick curtains, allowing the sunlight to spill into the room for the first time in nearly a week. Even with your eyes closed the light is blinding, your eyebrows knit together and you groan.
"Y/n." You hear a familiar voice.
Opening your eyes, squinting as you look up, you see Zina standing next to the bed.
"I have been very patient, but I can not watch you lay here another day. It's been almost a week."
There's a part of you that knows she's right, but there's a bigger part of you that doesn't want to move and is content with staying in bed until you die. A lump begins to form in your throat and your eyes begin to gloss over.
"I can't." You say softly.
"You can, and you will. When was the last time you showered?"
"A few days ago." Embarrassed, you avoid her gaze and stare at your pillow.
"What on earth has gotten into you? This is all very unlike you."
Pausing for a moment, you take a deep breath.
"You were right. About everything." You say as tears fall onto your pillow and your voice grows thick.
"You became too attached, didn't you?"
Nodding your head in response, Zina exhales deeply.
"Did you listen to a word I said-"
"I did," you say, cutting her off as your voice cracks. "I did, and for a while it was fine, but then I started feeling like I was special to her, and then I got scared because I didn't want to end up like the rest of them. I told Alcina how I was feeling and she told me I was special," Zina's face changes from looking like she was about to scold you to a look of curiosity. "She told me I was different from the others. And I was stupid enough to believe her. I was dumb enough to believe her lies-"
"Lady Dimitrescu is a lot of things," Zina cuts in. "but I can tell you for certain that a liar is not one of them. She is most likely the only person I've ever met that refuses to speak a single lie."
"Then why would she tell me that? Why would she say that I was special and then throw me aside like I was nothing? Why would she do everything she did for me and then act like I didn't even exist and then go and fuck another maid?!" You sob, tightly holding onto your pillow.
Realizing the situation in front of her was not what she expected it to be, Zina sits on the edge of the bed and gently stokes your hair.
"I cannot speak for the Lady and her actions, but what I can tell you is that she has not been herself this last week either. I know I said I did not want to get involved in your affairs with the Lady, which is still the truth, but I will offer you some advice."
Turning your face towards her, you look into her eyes, eager to hear her next words.
"Have you tried speaking with her?" Zina asks.
"I did, right when she started ignoring me. And she looked right through me, like I didn't exist and just walked away, like I wasn't even there."
"Did this all start after your second encounter with Stefana?"
"Yeah, and Mother Miranda."
Zina's pupils dilate, a look of concern crossing her face.
"Mother Miranda?" She quietly asks.
"Yeah, when she came to work in the lab or whatever. She found me in Alcina's bed after I got my stitches. She said she wanted to use me for a Cadou experiment and Alcina freaked out. I mean she didn't scream or anything, but her eyes, she looked terrified."
"You are very lucky to still be alive y/n." She says, visibly shaken.
"Well I told Mother Miranda that Alcina bought me from my uncle so I was her property, not just an employee. Finally she agreed to not take me to the lab but Alcina was so freaked out and I don't know why. I don't even know what a Cadou is or anything that they were talking about."
"In time you will learn, but it's not my place to explain the horrors of Mother Miranda. That was quick thinking, telling Mother Miranda about your purchase, it's probably the only reason you weren't taken into the dungeon, whether or not the Lady wanted you to go."
"After all of that, it was like I stopped existing to her. I don't know what I did." You say, defeatedly.
"As I said earlier, I won't speak on behalf of the Lady, but something tells me it's less of what you did and more of Mother Miranda's interest in you. You should try and speak with her again."
"What do I even say? 'Fuck you, you broke my heart?' that won't go over well."
"No, that certainly won't."
"What do I do? Let her tell me why she did what she did? And then what? I just magically forget about what happened and everything is sunshine and rainbows? How could I forgive her?"
"Whether or not you forgive her is something you must figure out on your own, no one can help you make that decision or make that decision for you. My advice is this: speak to her. She's out this morning and will be returning before dinner. She brought you your dinner last night, correct?"
"Yeah."
"Although I don't participate in the maidens gossip, I've heard that one young maid found her sitting outside your room in tears."
"Good." You grumble.
"Y/n." She scolds you.
"What? She does all of this awful shit to me and I'm supposed to feel bad when she cries?"
"I am not saying you aren't allowed to be angry, you are certainly entitled to every feeling you have towards her at the moment. That does not mean however, it's acceptable to lack all empathy. You can be both empathetic and angry towards her, they are not mutually exclusive feelings."
You go to retort her statement and pause, letting her words sink in before you respond.
"I guess." You say.
"Speak to her. Tell her everything you just told me, tell her how her actions made you feel. I've worked alongside the Lady for many years, it's not often she cares for maidens, but on the rare occasion she does, she listens."
"I'll think about it."
"Very well. Now, get up." She says, pulling the duvet off of you, you groan in protest. "Go on, go get a shower and for the love of the Black God please eat something. I didn't think it was possible for someone to survive on eating three bites of toast for a week."
Looking over at Zina you want to protest, but the look on her face is similar to one a mother would give their child when they won't listen. Knowing it was no use fighting her, you take a deep breath and muster the energy to finally get out of bed.
Making your way into the bathroom, you turn towards Zina before shutting the door.
"Thank you."
She gives you a nod and walks out of your room. Neither of you notice, but a little fly quickly buzzes out the door right before Zina closes it behind her.
The carriage pulls up to Lady Beneviento's estate. After she exits, Alcina is greeted by the familiar figure dressed in black, a matching black veil covering her face.
"Donna." Alcina says with a smile.
"Welcome." Donna says, although Alcina can't see her face, she can tell it was said with a smile.
Donna leads Alcina into the house and Donna's doll, Angie, runs into the foyer.
"Who the fuck let a tree in the house?!" She says with a screeching laugh.
Alcina lets out a low growl as Donna softly scolds the doll.
"Would you like some tea? I was just making myself some." Donna asks.
"Yes, that would be lovely, thank you."
Alcina takes a seat in one of the larger chairs in Donna's living room, Donna had it brought to her house for Alcina years ago so she could be comfortable when she visits.
"You better not break that chair!" Angie squeals as she runs around the house.
Alcina rolls her eyes, trying to ignore the doll.
"Angie, be nice." Donna quietly says as she walks in with a tray holding a teapot and two cups.
Donna takes a seat across from Alcina and pours tea into both cups. The teacup looks dwarfed in Alcina's large hands, making Angie cackle. After removing her veil, Donna fixes her hair and Alcina smiles at her sister.
"What brings you all the way to the estate sister?" Donna asks.
Alcina looks down into her cup. Donna was the only one of her siblings she would be able to speak to about what's been going on. Truthfully, Donna was the only person she knew that she could speak to about any of this; but Alcina never thought about how she would explain the situation without sounding weak or pathetic.
"What's wrong Alcina?" Donna asks.
"I came seeking your advice." Alcina admits.
Donna's face lights up, it's not often that Alcina asks her for her help. In the rare occasion she does, Donna is both grateful and excited to help where she can.
After taking another sip from the tiny cup in her hand Alcina puts it down and lights a cigarette and takes a drag.
"I- I'm not good at these things. I have a very, very difficult time with being, open. Talking about my feelings." She says, rolling her eyes, bringing the cigarette up to her lips once more.
"I know, take your time." Donna says with an encouraging smile.
Alcina deeply inhales and slowly blows the smoke out of her nose.
"There is," she begins, carefully choosing her words. "Someone, a woman, I've grown to," she pauses "care for." She says with an exhale. "But, I've done something unforgiveable."
"Did ya kill her?!" Angie pipes in.
With her eyes narrowing at the doll, Alcina replies "no, you detestable plaything, I did not kill her."
"Well sorry for asking!" Angie says sarcastically. "You literally drink blood wine, I'm sorry if my question pissed you off you-"
"Angie that is enough." Donna snaps.
Alcina glares at the doll as she runs away before looking back towards Donna, taking another drag from the cigarette.
"Please, Alcina, continue." Donna says softly.
"I, I don't know how to fix it. Donna, I don't know what to do." Alcina says as her eyes gloss over, she snuffs out the cigarette in the ashtray on the table. Another thing Donna keeps around for Alcina when she visits.
Donna can count on one hand the amount of times she's seen Alcina cry in all of the years she's known her. Her heart melts a little as her older sister lets some of her walls down.
"I would love you help you Alci, but I need to know what happened."
Alcina gives Donna a brief overview of how you ended up at the castle, how you quickly became her handmaiden, she tells Donna about Stefana and how she's tried to kill you twice now, and tells her that Mother Miranda was infatuated with you.
"After Mother came I was terrified, Donna. It's the most terrified I've been since that clumsy maid broke the window in the library and almost killed Daniela all of those winters ago." Donna nods her head, remembering when Alcina told her about the incident. It made her want to vomit when Alcina described in great detail how she tortured the woman before sticking her in a wine barrel.
"So I abandoned her. I acted like she didn't exist. My plan was successful for the first few days, but then, she was all I could think about. There was nothing I could do to get her out of my head, I it was driving me absolutely mad. I was angry, unsatisfied, really." Donna nods her head as she follows along while Alcina pulls out another cigarette and lights it, taking a long drag, exhaling the smoke as she speaks. "I couldn't bring her to my chambers, Black God no, so I invited one of my newer maids in. I was satisfied enough but I still only thought of her." She pauses and take another drag, slowly exhaling the plume of smoke, reliving the moment. "When I opened my chamber door to let the maid out, there she was, walking back to her room. And the look on her face when she saw," Alcina looks up, blinking away tears. "The look on her face, Donna, it almost broke me."
A few tears roll down Alcina's cheeks, Donna hands her a handkerchief and she puts out her cigarette, carefully blotting the tears as she pulls herself together. She adjusts her posture, sitting up straight once more, reclaiming her poise.
"I thought maybe it would take a few days for her to move past it, but after that, she stopped showing up to meals, she hasn't gotten out of bed in almost a week-"
Angie runs into the room and sees Alcina wipe away a stray tear.
"Holy shit! You cry?! Who knew there was a heart under all of that cold, icy-"
"I will snap you in half you little twig!" Alcina roars, standing up to her full height, rage beginning to blind her.
"Alcina!" Donna yells.
Alcina looks at Donna and recognizes the look of fear in her eyes. Looking down, Alcina didn't even realize her claws have come out. The only time Donna had seen Alcina's claws in action was during a brutal attack when huntsmen stormed the castle while she was visiting. It took Donna weeks to be able to cope with what she saw. Staring at her claws in shock, Alcina retracts them and looks at her sister.
"Donna- I'm-" she goes to reach for her sister but pulls away and puts her face in her hands. The elegance that radiated off of her moments ago completely vanished. "I'm sorry." She says softly, sitting back down as she tries to hold back her cries.
Donna stands up and looks at Angie, pointing out of the room, silently telling her to leave. Walking up to Alcina she wraps her arms around her the best she can.
"It's okay." Donna softly says. "I know it was an accident."
"Oh Donna," Alcina cries. "what do I do? Gods if I were her I'd never speak to me again."
"This may sound silly, but, have you tried talking to her?" Donna asks.
Trying to gather herself once more, Alcina wipes her tears and lights another cigarette, taking a long drag from it. Her tone is stoic yet her voice shakes as she speaks.
"I brought dinner up to her chambers last night and she didn't even look at me. Her back was turned but I knew she was awake, I heard her heartbeat race as soon as I entered. I wanted to say something, to do something, but I didn't know what to say, I didn't know what to do. So I left, without saying a single word. Right before I shut the door I heard her sobs and it shattered my heart," She brings the cigarette to her lips and deeply inhales and releases the smoke from the corner of her mouth. "I just sat on the floor, in the middle of the corridor and cried."
"You should talk to her."
Alcina looks away as she blots away the tears once more, desperately trying to steady her trembling lip by bringing the cigarette to them.
"Sister, I mean this in the most loving way possible, but if you truly care for this girl, you will put your pride aside and apologize to her. Even if she doesn't forgive you, it's something you must do."
"I have been incredibly selfish." She says in defeat, taking another drag from the cigarette before crushing it into the ashtray.
"Yes, it certainly seems that way."
Alcina removes her hat and rakes her hands through her hair.
"What would say? 'I apologize for throwing you away like you meant nothing but really you mean everything to me please forgive me?' If someone said that to me after doing what I did to her I would laugh in their face."
"You and I both know you would do more than laugh in their face." Donna says, giving Alcina a knowing look. Alcina lets out a light chuckle. "Tell her why you did what you did, your reasonings behind them. Not to justify your actions, but so at least she understands why."
"What if she doesn't forgive me?" Alcina says quietly.
"Would you forgive you?" Donna asks.
"No, I don't think I could."
"Do you love her?"
"Yes." Alcina whispers as tears roll down her cheeks.
"Then you must try to speak with her, you won't know what will happen for sure until you do."
Alcina shakes her head.
"What am I going to do if Mother decides to use her to punish me? If she tries to hurt her, just to teach me a lesson?"
"Then my dear sister, you have a difficult choice to make. You either protect the one you love and stand up against Mother, or, you be the obedient daughter and let Mother do as she pleases. There will come a time where you will not be able to do both."
Looking into her sisters eyes, Alcina smiles.
"Thank you, Donna."
"Of course Alcina, you can always speak to me, about anything."
Alcina smiles and grabs her sisters hand, gently squeezing it.
"Come, lets take a stroll through the gardens, they're especially lovely this time of year." Donna says, standing up.
Daniela and Cassandra run to Bela's room and bang loudly on the door.
"WHAT?" Bela yells from the other side.
"Bela open up!! It's important!" Cassandra says.
Bela opens her door to see her sisters standing in front of her.
"What? What happened?" She asks, worried.
The two girls push their way into Bela's room and close the door.
"Hey! Get out!" Bela says, trying to push the girls back.
"We figured out why mom has been so weird and why y/n hasn't left her room!" Cassandra says.
"Wait, really?" Bela asks, surprised. "Wait a minute, how? Do I even want to know?"
"A little fly told us." Daniela says, giggling at Cassandra.
"Did you spy on them?!" Bela says.
"No, well, not on mom, gods no. She would know immediately, and she would kill us. But a little fly may have overheard y/n talking to Zina." Daniela says.
Bela crosses her arms, disapproving of her sisters antics.
"Well do you want to know or not?!" Cassandra says, annoyed.
"It's some real juicy stuff!" Daniela says.
Bela rolls her eyes.
"Well, I guess what's done is done. What did they say?"
Daniela and Cassandra recall the conversation Daniela's fly overhead, how you thinking you were special to their mother was just you falling into her usual trap and how their mother said that she was in fact special. They talk about what happened with Mother Miranda after they left their mother's chambers and how their mother completely ignored your existence. They also tell Bela that the night she didn't walk you to your room was when you saw another maiden leave their mother's chambers and that's why you've been locked in your room for the last week.
"Wait, so, mother-"
"She cheated on y/n and broke her heart!" Daniela exclaims.
Cassandra elbows her hard in the side
"Ow!"
"Shut your trap Dani, we can't let anyone hear us!"
"Mother has to feel guilty, I mean, how could she hurt y/n and be okay with it?" Bela says with disbelief on her face.
"Because mom can be a huge bitch." Cassandra says, folding her arms.
"Cassandra!" Bela scolds her. "Don't talk about our mother like that!"
Daniela turns to Bela.
"Bela, she hurt y/n, she loved mom and mom went and cheated on her."
"There has to be an explanation for this, I need to hear mother's side! It's unfair to judge based off of only one side!" Bela says, defending her mother.
"Bela you're such a suck up." Cassandra snaps.
"I am not! Plus Cass you're the one who said they weren't 'really together anyway' a few days ago! What happened to that?!"
"That was before I knew they were in love you idiot!"
"I still want to hear mother's side of the story."
"Mother would never talk to us about that, she's far too private." Cassandra says.
"Then what are we going to do?" Daniela asks.
"We have to get them in the same room somehow." Bela says, deep in thought.
"Oh! That's a good idea!"
"What good would that do? They're just gonna fight, or say nothing to each other." Cassandra says.
"They've avoided each other for so long, they need to talk." Bela says.
"Oh! Why don't we trick them into going into the same room?" Daniela suggests.
"That's actually not a bad idea." Cassandra says.
"How are we gonna do that though?" Daniela asks.
"I think I have an idea!" Bela says.
As you're walking back to your room from the kitchen with Zina, a lunch tray in your hands, you spot Daniela down the hall.
"You're alive!!!" She yells as she runs up to you and wraps her arms around you.
"Yes, I am very much alive." You say, trying to hug her back and balance the tray. "I'm sorry for how awful I was to you kiddo, you didn't deserve it."
"It's okay, I would have acted the same way if that happened to me too." She says, her eyes going wide as you look at her confused. "I mean, you know, if I really wanted to be left alone like you did."
Her choice of words confuses you a little but you don't think too much into as Zina gives Daniela a knowing look.
"Well, anyway, I gotta run." She says, avoiding Zina's look. "But y/n, I have a surprise for you later, now that you've finally come out of your room!"
"Okay," you say with a laugh. "Come get me when you need me."
Daniela swarms off and Zina shakes her head.
"Those girls are always up to something."
"They certainly are."
The girls are gathered in the library going over their plan when they hear the doors open, the familiar sound of their mothers footsteps echoing through the castle.
"Mom's home!" Bela says.
"Okay, Dani, go take care of y/n, we'll take care of mom."
The girls go their separate ways, Daniela making her way upstairs through the back halls and Bela and Cassandra going to greet their mother in the foyer.
"Mom!" Bela says.
"Good afternoon girls," Alcina says, immediately realizing Daniela is missing. "Where is Daniela?"
"Probably doing something stupid." Cassandra says.
Alcina laughs and pulls the girls into a hug.
You're about to leave your room and you hear a knock on the door, you see Daniela standing there when you open it.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Surprise time!"
"Can we do it in a few minutes, I was just about to-"
"NO!" Daniela says, trying to collect herself. "Nope, sorry, can't do, we gotta do it now."
"Okay..?" You say, having no idea what she's about to do.
Daniela pulls out a blindfold.
"Here! Put this on!"
"Do I really need a-"
"Yes! Yes you do! Now come on!" She says, pulling it over your eyes.
"Alright, alright. Now what?" You say as you position it over your eyes.
"Can you see anything?" Daniela asks, waving her hand in front of your face.
"Nope, just black."
"Good."
Daniela grabs you by the arm and pushes you to sit on your bed.
"Okay, now wait here for a minute."
"Okay-"
"And no talking!" She says.
You chuckle and Daniela shushes you.
Downstairs, Bela and Cassandra look up at their mother after she lets go of them. Alcina notices a mischievous look on their faces and raises an eyebrow at them.
"What are you girls up to?"
"We have a surprise for you!" Bela says.
"Oh, you do?" Alcina says as she gives them a look.
"Yup, you gotta put this on though." Cassandra says, pulling out a blindfold big enough for Alcina.
"Girls, is this really necessary?"
"Yes!" Cassandra says.
"Please mom?" Bela says, looking up at her mother.
Rolling her eyes, Alcina hands her hat to Bela and takes the blindfold and ties it around her head. She motions for her hat and places is back on her head.
"Now what?" She asks.
The girls each grab one of her hands and begin to lead her up the stairs.
"We're going upstairs?" Alcina says.
"Yes!"
"We'll tell you when to duck!" Cassandra says.
"Thanks." Alcina says, unamused but with a smirk on her face.
"And no more talking!" Cassandra says, Alcina grumbling in response.
Since Alcina knows the castle like the back of her hand, the girls walk their mother around for a minute before finally reaching your chambers; hoping she doesn't know where they're taking her.
The three of them stand outside the open door and Daniela gives them a thumbs up, Bela puts her mothers hand on the doorframe so she knows to duck and gently pushes her into the room.
You hear footsteps approach as you sit blindfolded on the bed, your room is suddenly filled with the scent of Alcina's perfume and you stiffen, your muscles in your body tensing.
Alcina ducks into the room and takes a few steps, Daniela sneaks around her and stands with her sisters outside of the door. She recognizes the familiar drum of your heartbeat and her posture stiffens, slowly turning towards the sound. The girls nod to each other and Daniela grabs the door handle.
"Okay, take them off!" Cassandra says as they quickly close the door and run away.
The two of you slowly remove the blindfolds, your eyes meet for the first time as they adjust to the light. You look into her eyes, desperately wanting to move your gaze, but you can't, your eyes are stuck staring into hers like magnets.
Alcina is the first to break eye contact when she closes her eyes and gently shakes her head. Her eyes meet yours once more, you try to gauge her inscrutable look but you're met with a stone wall. You feel your heart leap into your throat while you simultaneously feel a lump forming over your vocal chords. Alcina opens her mouth to speak but quickly closes her mouth and looks away. You try and speak but no words leave your lips. She takes one final look at you and turns to leave.
Watching her walk towards the door you feel your heart shatter again, but you also feel anger, frustration. As she reaches for the doorknob you break through the lump restraining your vocal chords and speak.
"So that's it? You're not going to even say anything to me?" Your voice cracks.
"Would it make a difference?" She says, her voice is cold but you notice a slight shake to it.
Looking down at your hands in your lap you quietly say "I don't know."
After a second you look up and see her standing in place, her hand resting on the doorknob. Your eyes focus on her hand, anticipating her wrist to turn and for her to open the door to leave.
An internal war rages on inside Alcina; she can almost taste the release of walking out of the room, but her heart is screaming at her to stay. Donna's voice pops into her head.
"if you truly care for this girl, you will put your pride aside and apologize to her."
With a shaking breath, she drops her hand from the doorknob and hangs her head.

I wish you would write a fic where....reader is going to get a pedicure but her normal nail tech is out, and the owner's cute son (you pick the member) who's back in town volunteers to do reader's appointment. (hehehe)
Jess!!! I did it 🤣 I didn’t think I could but I actually had a lot of fun with this! Thank you for this ask. I hope I did it justice 💜

Self-Care Sunday | JJK
Tumblr media
Pairing: NailTech!Jungkook x Fem!Reader
Rating: 18+
Genre: Meet cute; fluff
Warnings: Some naughty thoughts but nothing explicit; slight references to gender stereotypes and occupations
Word count: 3k+words
Summary: You arrive at your mani-pedi appointment to find out that your usual technician is unexpectedly out. Instead, the salon owner’s son offers to do your nails instead.
A/N: Just for fun! Also, I was too impatient and wanted to actually post on a Sunday, which is why I didn’t have time to find a proper banner image for this. I’ll fix that tomorrow 😅 Thank you @midnightagust for your eyes 🥰 hope you all enjoy this!
Tumblr media
Every weekend, you make a point to treat yourself to some form of pampering. Whether you went out to get your hair done or simply curled up on your couch to enjoy a book, ‘Self-Care Sunday’ was a big deal for you. It was a way to reset and prepare for the week ahead.
This weekend, you’re going for a mani-pedi. You walk into the nail salon about five minutes before your appointment time.
The small reception booth in front is empty, but the rest of the ladies who are busy with customers pause to greet you since you’re a regular. You begin to scan the room for your usual manicurist, hoping to check in and get set up.
Oddly, she’s nowhere in sight so you ask one of the ladies closest to you, who was giving a pedicure to another client.
“Annie just left. She said she was feeling sick,” she says to you.
“Oh no.” You look around again to see that everyone else is tending to their own clients. There’s no way any of these ladies would be able to take you on this morning. You’re disappointed but it’s not the end of the world. “I guess I could just reschedule my appointment–”
“No, hun, you don’t have to! It’s why she didn’t call to cancel. Our manager will take care of you.”
The salon’s manager, Lily, wasn’t afraid to jump in to help out whenever it was busy. It was a small comfort to know that the day wasn’t going to be a complete waste and you knew that you were in good hands.
The nail technician points to the vacant spa chair next to her and you help yourself. She pauses her work to fill the basin with warm water so you can soak your feet in while waiting for the manager.
“He’ll be right out, okay?” She says with a smile before turning back to her client.
Your eyebrows scrunch in curiosity. You could have sworn she said 'he,' but maybe you were hearing things. You dismiss the thought and activate the massage function on your chair, then start scrolling through your phone while waiting.
A few minutes later, you notice movement in your peripheral vision. As the figure settles on the low stool in front of you, you raise your head to greet them. Your voice gets caught in your throat when you realize that it isn't Lily.
"Hi!"
You’re stunned at the sight of a man sitting in front of you. He looks young and devastatingly hot. You would never expect to see someone who looked like him at a nail salon, let alone working at one. His big, round, beautiful eyes make you want to melt into the water your feet were soaking in.
“Uhm…h-hi,” you choke out once your brain lurches back to life. “I thought the manager was going to do my mani-pedi.”
He grins proudly, spreading a towel on the footrest of the spa chair. "Yep! You're looking at him!"
You feel confused. Did Lily quit or hire someone new? It’s been three weeks since your last appointment. In the background, you hear the other nail technicians giggling amongst themselves.
Seeing the worried look on your face, he explains, "My mom is taking a break, so I'm filling in for her."
You vaguely remember Lily mentioning her children in passing. Since she looks relatively young for her age, she’s always said that people are shocked to hear when she tells them that she has a grown son.
Well, consider yourself shaken to the core.
"I'm Jungkook, by the way," he extends his hand towards you. You're both baffled and overwhelmed by how handsome he looks. The massage chair's tapping setting propels you forward, snapping you out of your daze.
You reach forward to shake his hand and introduce yourself. Although he has a firm grip, his hands are surprisingly soft, sending a chill down your spine.
“When Annie said that she wasn’t feeling well, I offered to take the rest of her appointments for the day,” he divulges.
You look at him skeptically. You’ve never received a manicure and pedicure from a male technician before—especially not from one who was this cute.
He chuckles. "I know, I know. You're probably thinking, 'Does this guy even know what the hell he's doing?' Well, let me assure you that my mom personally trained me. If she's ever worked on you, you can expect the same level of quality from me. But I understand if you feel uneasy. The last thing I want is for a client to feel that way.”
You’re still apprehensive but he sounds confident. You get a grip and nod, giving him consent to continue with the appointment.
“Thanks,” he says softly and with a look of relief. “You booked a deluxe pedicure and manicure, right?”
The deluxe mani-pedi comes with a longer-than-usual massage on your hands and feet. Thinking about this man's hands kneading your tired muscles makes you sweat.
“Y-yes, I did,” you nervously confirm.
He nods in acknowledgment, and you gulp as he begins to dip the pumice sponge into the basin to scrub your heels. He’s careful and gentle with each pass, totally unlike what you’ve been used to. It’s a stark contrast to these ladies, who have manhandled you in surprising ways—especially the petite, older techs. They’re still sweet, though, and they do a great job, but you admit that this is a nice change of pace.
The rest of your pedicure prep goes smoothly until it was time for the massage.
He drains the water from the basin then he props your feet on the footrest. The stool is too low for his frame but he doesn’t complain. He’d rather make the adjustment so you wouldn’t have to bend awkwardly from your seat.
After drying your feet with a towel, he squeezes some lotion into his hands and starts massaging it into your calf muscles. Typically, some ladies prefer to keep their gloves on for sanitary purposes, but Jungkook has taken off his gloves just before the massage. You figured he was the manager on duty, so he could do whatever he wanted. And not that you had any objections, as the skin-on-skin contact feels nice. Better, actually.
You don't know why, but your gaze is drawn to his thighs, which are spread widely in front of you. It's incredibly distracting and you struggle to look away. You wonder if the awkward positioning of his knees against the spa chair is causing him to sit like that, or if there is something else between his legs that he's trying to adjust for.
“Is the pressure okay?” His question pulls you back into reality.
"What? Oh, yeah. It's good. It's fine," you manage to cobble together. His touch is firm, yet gentle enough to be relaxing. Silently, you think, if he was this good with your legs, how would his hands feel on the rest of your body?
"Are you sure? I could apply more, if you prefer. I always try to start off slow, but I can go deeper, depending on how you like it."
You grip the chair's armrests in response as your mouth goes dry. "N-no, you don’t need to go deeper. What you're doing is...great.” Your voice comes out breathy, but in an effort to distract yourself, you dig your phone out of your purse and start randomly scrolling through your social media feed. Now was not the time to be getting horny over your nail technician.
He suppresses a smile at your response. "Okay then.”
******
You manage to survive the rest of the pedicure without any additional incidents, much to your relief. He slips your sandals back onto your feet with ease, without smudging your freshly painted toes, and helps you over to the manicure table.
Once you settle in your seat, you rest your hands on the cushion and dip them into a cuticle-softening solution while he sets up the rest of his tools. While waiting for your fingers to soak up the solution, he checks in with you.
“Can I get you anything while you wait?”
“I’m good right now, thanks.”
"Okay.” Then, he leans in, lowers his voice, and asks, “How do you think I’m doing so far?"
You smile warmly at him. "I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised." Your toes didn't look streaky, nor did he get polish on your skin. You were impressed!
Your response makes him smile from ear to ear, his nose crinkling in amusement.
"Thanks. I know most women think it's weird to get a mani-pedi from a dude."
You sigh and decide to fess up. He seemed self-aware and appreciated honesty. "Well, I have to be honest—I was definitely apprehensive at first," you admit then follow it with a shrug. "But then I thought, hey, it's a job. If you can do it and have the skills for it? Why not? It shouldn't be restricted by gender."
His brow arches at your remark. "My thoughts exactly!" He agrees emphatically.
You feel another spark of electricity surge through you as he lifts your hand. You watch as he examines your fingers under the light.
“Mm…nice, long, nail beds.” His compliment followed but his thumb brushing over your fingers makes your belly flutter.
“But I bet you probably get that a lot,” he adds with a laugh.
“Not as often as you think,” you say. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think he was coming onto you.
“Just a regular manicure, right? Not gel?”
“Yeah. I thought, if I got the gel, I can’t get the usual hand massage—”
“I can still give you the massage,” he interjects.
“Oh. But what about the oils? I thought it’s not good for the gel base?” You hesitate.
He shrugs as if it's a non-factor. "I can do the massage after I cure your nails under the light. That way, the polish adheres nicely and it’ll be all set. But if you still prefer a regular manicure, that's fine—we’ll do that. I just want you to know that you have the option," he assures you.
You purse your lips to think for a few seconds. “Well, if you’re sure the massage won’t mess with the gel—”
“It won’t, I promise!” He says confidently. “My mom’s old school and she’d never do it that way but I think that you can still make it work.” After he says it out loud, one of the female technicians next to him scoffs. Seems like she prefers the standard method, too.
Jungkook rolls his eyes subtly at her reaction and turns his attention back to you. “If you don’t like it, I’ll give you your money back.”
That sounded fair to you.
“Alright. I trust you.”
After you decide on gel polish colors, he begins to trim your cuticles and file your nails. But just when you thought you could easily survive the pedicure, him being this close, and at eye-level, was going to be an uphill battle. He looks so focused and precise in his movements; it’s relaxing to watch. Even the little pout he does while maneuvering your finger to apply the polish with the utmost precision to cover every surface of your nail is cute.
You make small talk while he works. Not the usual gossip that you’re used to with the female technicians. You feel comfortable around him but not enough to spill all of your secrets.
“So, are you doing this full-time?”
“No,” he answers before he guides your hand into the curing lamp. “I have a day job but I mostly work from home. My mom said that needed help and I didn’t hesitate to step up. She works very hard.”
Oh no…he’s not only cute but he also loves his mom. You can’t help but feel endeared. You also note that he doesn’t have a ring on his finger. Lily hasn’t mentioned any daughters-in-law, that you recall.
You decide to sound casual to break the tension a bit. “This job must be a great way to pick up women, too, huh?”
He pauses before meeting your gaze. The corner of his mouth curves into a cocky smirk. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
Your cheeks heat up. You immediately realize that your comment may have crossed a line, thinking you were at that level of comfort with him just because he touched your bare feet. You kick yourself internally for being presumptuous.
“S-sorry,” you shyly tear your eyes away from him. “I was just trying to make conversation.”
He brushes off the exchange. “It’s cool. Honestly, there aren’t many women falling over themselves to go out with a male nail technician,” he says in jest. “Some people have specific perceptions. They’re usually wrong but I don’t bother to correct them.”
“Oh,” you suddenly feel bad as you’d made assumptions about him too. “I mean, I think you have a lot of patience to be working on nails. Not to mention that you’re a handsome guy who gives great foot massages. I don’t see why any woman wouldn’t want to get more of that.” You catch yourself too late when you realize what you’ve just said.
He snorts your comment but doesn’t pile on it. “You’d think, right?”
You clear your throat and attempt to recover. “Well, you’re also easy to talk to. You keep the conversation flowing.” Your voice is still tight, embarrassed from your ‘cute guy who gives great foot massages’ comment.
“I appreciate that,” he smiles. He examines your nails, one last time, running the pads of his fingers over the polish to make sure that it has set properly. When he’s satisfied, he says, “Looks good. I’ll be right back, okay? Then we can get to your hand massage.” He excuses himself and gathers his tools to soak them in a cleaning solution.
When he walks away and disappears into the back room, you release a breath you seemed to be holding in for far too long. You’d never been this wound up during a mani-pedi.
A few minutes later, he returns and sets a warm towel down. He then moves the magnifying lamp out of the way, giving you a complete and unobstructed view of him. Unfortunately, this doesn't bode well for you.
“So, do you have any plans after this?” He asks casually while massaging circles into your forearms.
You’re all flustered again. “Not much. Maybe I’ll grab some mid-day coffee or something then head home.”
“Nice. Where do you grab coffee?” The feel of him dragging the pads of his fingers on your slicked skin, couple with his piercing gaze are causing your breathing to go ragged again. Suddenly, your brain blanks out on where your favorite coffee spot is.
“Just, uhm—” you struggle to pull the name out of your memory at first but manage to blurt it out when he squeezes your fingers. “It’s not far from here.”
“Oh. I don’t live in this neighborhood so I’m not familiar.” His thumb and forefinger knead your muscles in a way that should normally not feel arousing to you, but it does. And you can’t help when your thoughts slide back into wondering what else those magic fingers can do.
“I figured, if I was going to be helping out here more, maybe I should get to know the area– especially places to eat. You think you can you give me directions to the cafe?”
You shift in your seat. “Well, it’s sort of a hole-in-the-wall place. The GPS is kind of spotty on it. You have to be a local to really know where it’s at.”
“Well, my break’s coming up after this. Maybe we can drive together?”
It takes a couple of seconds for you to realize it. He's not stupid, and you were right – he's definitely self-aware. He knows that you're affected by him. Smiling to yourself, you’re happy to let him know that the feeling is mutual.
Your eyebrows twitch at how forward he’s being. “A break? But it’s only 11:30?” You laugh.
“What can I say? I think I worked you really hard–”
His response makes your eyes bulge and causes your jaw to drop.
“Oh, sorry–I meant to say, you worked me really hard.”
You throw your head back in laughter, and it makes him laugh out loud, too. He was a cocky little shit but you’re not mad at it.
When your laughs die down, he says, “I think we can both agree that we did our best to fight this–” he gestures at the space between you two.
“Oh, is that right?” You ask playfully.
"Yeah. I think we deserve a little treat. Maybe grab some lunch, wherever you want." You’re mildly aware that the massage is over but his fingers are still lingering on your hands while he patiently waits for your answer.
This is one of the most unusual ways you've been asked out, but there's a first time for everything. After thinking it over, you decide to give it a chance. "Okay. But if I agree to go to lunch with you, do I still need to tip you for the mani-pedi?”
He purses his lips in thought for a few seconds before countering. "Tell you what—if you let me take you to dinner tomorrow night, the service is on the house. We can call it even then.”
His playful proposition catches you off guard but it also intrigues you. Again, you find yourself unable to resist his charm.
“Alright.”
Your response makes him smile full-on and it’s infectious, so you can’t help but smile back. He starts to clean up his station, then turns to the older nail technician next to him who saw the whole situation unfold.
“Auntie, please don’t tell my mom,” he whispers mischievously, causing her to laugh after she agrees not to rat him out.
You giggle at his request and tell him, “I guess I’ll meet you out front whenever you’re ready?”
“Sounds good. We’ll take my car so we don’t ruin my masterpiece there,” he points at your hands.
You laugh at his retort and shake your head. Never in a million years did you ever think that you’d find a date a the nail salon. It’s one of the better things to come out of your Self-Care Sundays.

Thank you so much for doing my angst request! It was so good!Can I request a new one? I’m in a mood for angst lately, but with smutty ending lol
Reader and Rhea have broke up a while ago, but Rhea is taking it harder than she thought she would. She hears that reader is going on dates (which is actually just to kill time and as an effort to move on, but Rhea doesn’t know that). She feels angry and jealous that she’s replaced so fast and confronts reader about it. During the argument things are getting heated and “somehow” they resolve the misunderstanding horizontally 😅
i’m so glad you liked it! I’m hoping it was the one with the prompt bc that one was fun to write. thank you for making another request!
after writing: it’s a bit more sad than angry bc i lowkey went thru this a while ago lmaooo so sorry bout that but i hope you like it hahahahahaoops and they’re not really horizontal but it’s still hot lmaoo

Tumblr media
It’s been two months since you and Rhea have broken up. The first month was hard on you but the second month you wanted to get your mind off of it so you decided to download all the dating apps you could think of. You’ve been on a few first dates and a few second dates but none have lived up to your expectations.
It has been really hard on the wrestler though. She claimed that she did it because she was getting so busy that she felt it wasn’t fair to you that she wasn’t able to be around as much as she wanted. So she decided to end things, unfortunately for her, she didn’t realize how much she relied on you to get away from all the buzz.
You haven’t spoken or texted Rhea for three weeks and it was hurting you, but she was the one to end things so why should I try? you thought. You and her had mutual friends that you would hang out with sometimes and they would try to tell you updates on her but you didn’t want to hear them.
“She really misses you,” they would say.
“Then she shouldn’t have left me,” said the anger stage of grief.
Part of you knew that the friends were telling her that you were going on dates and how you were doing but you didn’t care. You wanted to seem like the ‘bigger person’ and make it seem like you moved on.
One night, you had been chatting with a girl on one of the many dating apps and things were going suspiciously well so you set up a date for the next day, just to see. It was at a local coffee shop because you wanted it to be in public in case something went wrong.
You wore a long maroon, but sort of tight dress that showed off your curves just right, some light makeup, and your hair natural; you didn’t want to try too hard. The time came and you headed to the shop, ordered coffee and sat down at a small table in the corner.
People came and went and you were there for about twenty minutes, checking your phone and scrolling through social media. Because you were waiting for quite a while, you didn’t want to come off as someone who got stood up, so you decided to text her.
“You still coming?”
“Sorry, something came up, maybe another day?”
Of course. This wasn’t the first time this happened and it sure wouldn’t be the last.
“All good,” was the only thing you said. You didn’t like putting effort into something that wasn’t going to go anywhere. If they wasted your time, then they don’t care about you, your friend would say, but something seemed off.
You brushed it off, drank your coffee and enjoyed your time alone, it was nice. You rarely went out by yourself, so it was good for a change.
You finally finished your latte, so you head back home. To your surprise, there was a familiar black truck in your driveway.
“No fucking way,” you growl as you park the car. You sit for a few minutes contemplating going somewhere else in town, maybe a movie or something long enough to where she would leave on her own, but you decided against it. “If she wants to talk then let’s talk.”
You slammed the car door and stomped inside to her helping herself to a glass of water.
“Sorry to show up out of the blue,” the australian admitted.
“No you’re not,” you threw your keys down on the counter.
“Excuse me?”
“Obviously you have something to say that you couldn’t call or text about so…” you crossed your arms keeping your distance.
She was silent but you could tell she was trying not to go off.
“So?” you push.
“You’ve been going on dates,” she finally said.
“Yeah and? Why does it matter? You broke up with me,” the lump in your throat began to form, you were never good with confrontation but you swallowed it down.
“It’s only been two months!” she barked as she threw her hands up.
“People grieve differently!”
“You’re not grieving, you’re trying to get back at me.”
“I’m not. I’m trying to move on,” you glare.
“Moving on means seeing other people after two months?” She walked to the kitchen table and leaned on the back of one of the chairs, gripping it tightly.
“Yes, it does because I’m tired of throwing myself a pity party every night.”
“As if I haven’t done that?” she gestured to herself.
“You broke up with me,” you reiterate.
“Doesn’t mean I can’t miss you!” She walked to the bar area of the kitchen counter.
You let the words hang in the air, you genuinely didn’t have a response to that.
“It’s like you didn’t even care to reach out,” she sighed under her breath.
“The phone works both ways,” you rebutted.
“Doesn’t mean I didn’t want to talk to you.”
“I didn’t think you wanted to!”
“Of course I did! I wanted to remain friends,” her cheeks were flush.
You try to calm your breathing and think hard about what you’re going to say because you didn’t want to get her feelings anymore than you did, apparently. “It’s hard to remain friends with someone you had fallen in love with and been with for a year.”
“As if I don’t know that?!” She crossed her arm and held her forehead with the other, “I had hope that we could work our way back.”
“Well…”
She took a long deep breath, before looking back up at you, “so you don’t want to try?”
“Literally when did I say that?”
“You didn’t have to say anything! I can tell with the way this is going that you don’t want to,” she was trying to calm herself down but you could tell she was struggling.
“No, no, no, back to the main question, why do you care that I’ve been seeing other people? We broke up!” you uncrossed your arms and got yourself some water too, your hands needed to do something.
“Because!” she huffed, “Because I still care for you and I don’t want you to get hurt,” she sighed once more, “and I miss you.”
You stop in your tracks and set the glass down gently before your impulse took over to throw it. You glare at her, “then why did you leave?”
“Because it wasn’t fair to you! We barely saw each other and when we did we would fight! I loved you too much to do that to you,” tears began to form in her eyes but she didn’t dare let them fall.
“I was perfectly fine letting you do what you love and was willing to work it out, you never talked to me about how you felt! You just up and left!” you threw back.
“Are you serious?! I had a flight that morning I had to leave, it was nothing to do with you.”
“You could’ve waited,” you growled.
“And make you feel more miserable?”
“I wasn’t!! That’s what I’m saying! I loved you, hell I still do, but that was bad the way you did it and you know it,” you pointed at her, hoping that she didn’t catch that one part.
“You what?”
Damn it, “you heard me.”
She sat at the bar and hung her head in her hands, sniffling.
“Rhea…” you start, and the lump in your throat was getting bigger, “I was distracting myself so that I could stop thinking about you. You consume my life, I think about you all the time,” a tear fell and you wiped it away before she could see. “I couldn’t do anything that first month, I was miserable, I had to do something.”
She lifted her head, her face was red and covered in tears. “I never stopped loving you,” she admitted.
“That makes two of us,” you said under your breath. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because I didn’t want to hurt you again,” she wiped her nose with a paper towel.
You couldn’t think of anything to say. You sat there staring at her, thinking of everything you’ve ever done together and where it went wrong, but it never came up. “What do you want me to say?” you sigh.
“I don’t know,” she caught your eyes. Those icy blue perfect eyes staring back into you.
“Then what do you want from me?”
She sat for a minute racking her brain, trying to think of an answer that was different from what she wanted to say, but what’s the use, she thought and decided to shoot her shot anyway, “Another chance?”
You contemplate for a few short seconds, “You have to promise me-”
“I’ll do anything please, baby,” she didn’t mean to call you that, but you let it slide.
“You have to promise me that you’ll keep me informed on your schedule no matter what. We will make it work. Take me with you, I’ll pay for the extra bed, I’ll pay for the tickets, just…” you take a deep breath, “don’t give up again.” You didn’t think you would fold so quickly, but here you were.
“I promise, I’ll send it right now, the whole month. And when the next one comes I’ll send you that too,” as she took out her phone and sent it, “we can download a shared calendar app.”
“Thank you,” you took a sip of your water and set it back down. “Now are you going to admit that you were supposed to meet me at the coffee shop or what?”
“I had to get to you somehow,” she smiled nervously.
“You didn’t think that Leah Shipley wouldn’t raise an eyebrow?”
“Hey, what can you do?” she shrugged.
The two of you sat in silence for a good minute smiling at the thought of her trying to trick you.
“So are you going to kiss me or what?” you said a little too confidentally.
She basically ran around the counter and slammed her mouth against yours, holding your jaw. Your hands grabbed her waist and pulled her in tightly.
“God, I missed you,” she breathed.
“Shut up,” as you kiss her again.
She carefully walked you backwards towards the counter as your lips danced against hers. Your hands found themselves roaming her body naturally, like it was never gone.
She picked you up onto the counter, carefully moving things away. Her hips shoved their way in between your thighs pushing your dress up as she went, as you wrapped your legs around her, pulling her in as close as possible.
A hand found its way into your hair and yanked it to the side letting a whimper spill out of you. She kissed down your neck, biting delicately sending shockwaves down to your core. She kissed her way down your chest until she couldn’t find anymore bare skin. Suddenly, her arms pulled you forward to where you almost fell off the counter, yanking your dress farther up. She planted soft kisses on your inner thighs which made you crazy.
“Can I-” she whispered before you cut her off.
“Do it. I don’t care just fuck me, please baby,” you had missed her touch so badly. No one had ever made you feel the way she did, it was insane. She knew how to work you out just right.
With a devilish smirk she bit harder on your thighs spreading them as far as they would go. Your hand tangled itself in her hair as you used the other one to lean back. She grabbed at the waistband of your underwear and slid them off of you. A shiver hit your body as the cool air hit your hot center.
Her eyes widened at the sight of you basically dripping onto the counter, “Damn, baby, you missed me that much?”
“Shut up,” you said once more and shoved her head into you.
She immediately began lapping at your juices. You moan loudly with your head slamming on the cabinets behind you. A small “fuck,” fell from your lips followed by another moan. Her hand grazed up your thigh, lightly scratching its way up. It reached around to the small of your back and pushed you more forward into her. Riding her face, your hand gripped hair tighter. The hand sneaked its way back around and prodded at your entrance.
“Please, yes,” you whine.
And so she did, gently plunging her two fingers into you. “God,” you groan as your eyes rolled back.
She kissed the inside of your thighs before returning to your neck and kissing her way up to your lips. You grab her face, kissing her intensely, as she’s now pounding into you. Her other hand returns to your now swollen clit and adds to the knot growing inside of you.
“You missed me, baby?” she coos.
“So… fucking… bad,” you breathe.
“Then show me,” she growled.
Only a few seconds pass and you released all over her hand with a loud moan, squeezing your legs closed but was stopped by her hips blocking your way. Your back arching into the woman in front of you, “ffffffucccckk,” you whine as she kisses your neck. Your nails are digging into her shoulder blades as she continues to pump in and out of you letting you enjoy the high.
As you came down, catching your breath, you release your grip on her shoulders. Your head lolled forward leaning onto the wrestlers forehead for a few breaths before leaning back onto the cabinet. She gently pulled her fingers out of you and brought them to her mouth, cleaning them off.
“I forgot how good you taste, princess,” her accent was so thick you almost came undone again.
“It’s been too long,” you sigh.
“I guess we have some catching up to do, then huh?” she smirked. She picked you up with a giggle coming from both of you and began to carry you to your bedroom.

Birthday Surprise
Tumblr media
Fred Weasley x fem!reader
Fred Weasley was not one for subtlety. It was go big or go home. So, when Y/N's birthday rolled around, he decided to go all out and fill two needs with one deed.
"So, what do you think?" Fred asked George.
"I think," George began. "That Y/N will either agree to be your girlfriend because she'll be too stunned to realize what she's saying, or she'll punch you in the face for damn near killing her."
Fred crossed his arms. "Ok then, what grand idea would you suggest?"
George leveled his eyes at his twin. "Well, for starters, something a little less deadly than hiding full-blown fireworks in her cake."
~•~
"Ok, close your eyes!" Fred told her. "And no peeking!"
"No peeking! Promise!" Y/N covered her eyes and bounced in place. Fred had been hinting at a BIG gift all week, and his presents, whether big or small, were always amazing.
"Alright, open them!" Fred announced moments later. Y/N did, and her jaw dropped at the beautiful, if a little lopsided birthday cake.
"Baked it myself," he said proudly. "Without magic."
"Aw, Fred, you didn't have - " she began but was interrupted by a rumbling sound coming from the cake. Y/N took an instinctive step back. She'd been best friends with Fred long enough to know her fellow prankster wasn't above pranking her, especially on her birthday.
A tentative smile appeared on her face as the cake began to vibrate, and then suddenly, little rockets shot out of the dessert in a spray of sparkles that whirled around in colorful spirals before coming together to spell out,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Y/N! WOULD YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND??
Y/N reread the question three times before she looked up at Fred, who was watching her with an expectant smile.
"Are you pranking me?" She asked.
"No!" Fred's eyes widened. "No pranks! I really do want you to be... my girlfriend."
The last bit came out a little hesitant as Fred fidgeted with the hem of his shirt, his eyes darting away suddenly. Y/N had never seen him so uncertain of himself. It really was quite adorable, and her heart beat a little faster than it normally did whenever he was around.
Stepping toward him, she placed her hands over his. "I thought you'd never ask," she smiled.
Fred's head snapped up, and a brilliant grin spread across his face. "So that means - "
She giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck. Then she kissed him.
"What do you think?" She asked after they pulled apart.
"I think I want to kiss you again," Fred grinned wide.
Y/N laughed, her eyes sparkling bright. "Anytime, my love. Anytime."

loki masterlist ★ prince & the warrior masterlist ★ part 1
It's been days and close to weeks since you were framed by Sigrid. You had no idea how long you've been imprisoned for. Your body ached, blood from all of the torture you went through seeped through your clothing. You have been tortured for hours, the guards used this method in order for you to admit to your "wrongdoings". Even if the guards weren't torturing you, Sigrid would be the one torturing you until you broke.
However, you weren't going to let them break you, despite how bad your injuries were, you stood your ground...
"F-For the last t-time..." you began, a cough threatening to escape from your lips as you coldly stared at the two guards standing in front of you. "I-I am not...unfaithful to...the prince. I w-would never be."
"She hasn't cracked a single word about her crimes once since she was brought in here," the first guard recalled. "What should we do?"
The second guard shrugged his shoulders. "The Allfather ordered for her execution if she refuses to speak, considering that there's no evidence to prove of her innocence."
"I...I never did it. I love...the prince more than my own life..." you croaked weakly.
The guards took their leave, leaving you alone inside of your cell again. Once the guards were finally out of sight, Sigrid used her seidr to enter your cell.
"It's been days now and Loki still hasn't found evidence to prove your innocence," Sigrid reminds you as she circles around your body. "Once you are dead, I will have Loki all to myself since there's no proven evidence of your innocence."
You stared back at Sigrid, your eyes void of any light. "Y-You...can transform into me all y-you want to keep a-accusing me however many times you wish. B-But...you'll never break me. S-Someday, the truth will unveil my innocence."
"Not if you're dead," she responded, an evil smirk painting her face as she conjured a wooden staff with magic.
"C-Continue t-to...do your worst..." you croaked, not flinching one bit as soon as Sigrid raises the staff above her head.

At the dead of night once again, Loki, Thor, Sif, Heimdall and the Warriors Three met up inside of the empty tavern. News of your potential execution spread like wildfire and it didn't take long for the group to find out about it. Piggybacking off of that, Loki's courtship with you was on standby due to the alleged crimes against you, this stressed Loki beyond relief, he was desperate to try and prove your innocence.
Despite all of the plans they've had previously, they were still back at square one with the only piece of evidence in the beginning: Sigrid's knife that she attempted to attack you with.
"We're running out of time," Heimdall announced with a forlorn look on his face. "The Allfather is planning to execute Lady Y/N if there's no evidence of her innocence. Sigrid still has some kind of spell that's not allowing me to see or find her, including Lady Y/N."
"There's only one piece of evidence and that's Sigrid's knife and my eye-witness testimony of her attacking Lady Y/N with it," Sif replied. "Even the women we asked about Sigrid are staying silent."
"If those women are silent, they must know something and they're hiding it because they have some kind of connection to Sigrid," Fandral suggested. "I could possibly charm them to speak and we can use them as eye-witnesses."
"Good idea," Volstagg agreed. "Fandral shall gather those women and coax them to speak again."
"I think I know a few women who can speak without being coaxed," Loki recalls, his eyes lighting up.
"And who are these women?" Hogun asked him.
"Y/N's four maids and her other tutor," Loki answered him. "We need to find her tutor, Runa. Along with her four maids, Estelle, Luta, Katla and Æsa. Surely, these women won't hide anything as they are loyal to Y/N."
"I'll speak with her tutor and her maids," Thor offered. "Heimdall still can't detect where Sigrid and Y/N is located. Considering that she can use magic, there needs to be a way to stop her so Heimdall could find Sigrid and Y/N's location."
"If any of us finds her," Loki says, pulling out seven bracelets from his pocket. "Mother gave me these magic-suppressing cuffs earlier today, so if any of us finds her, quickly cuff one of her wrists with these, she won't be able to use any sort of magic and her spells will be disabled."
Loki kept one of the bracelets to himself while the rest were given one of each of the remaining bracelets.
"Now," Thor spoke up. "I will find Lady Y/N's tutor and maids, Sif and Fandral find the women that are remaining silent and coax them to talk, Hogun, Volstagg and Heimdall shall continue searching around the city for Sigrid, and Loki shall search in the palace. Anything else we need to discuss?"
Shaking their heads, Thor nodded as a response. "All right, now let's get back to work. If anyone finds Sigrid, cuff her immediately with the magic-suppressing cuff and bring her to the tavern. Heimdall shall return to the tavern once she can't use her magic."
"Understood," Heimdall voiced. "Once her magic is cut off, I am able to get the location of Lady Y/N."
Exiting the tavern as quietly as possible without making a ruckus, Thor, Loki, Sif and Fandral sauntered their way back into the palace while Heimdall, Hogun and Volstagg split up to search within the city. Once Thor, Loki, Sif and Fandral reached the palace, Sif and Fandral sauntered off together to search for Sigrid's accomplices, Thor went off to search for your four maids and tutor and Loki began to search around the palace for Sigrid.
As Loki searched the hallways and corridors of the palace, Loki turned into one corridor and sensed that something was off immediately. Reaching into his pocket for the bracelet, he swiftly made his move, grabbing the person who was behind him by the forearm and cuffed their wrist with the bracelet.
"Found you," Loki declared as he harshly pushed Sigrid against the walls of the corridor.
"Are you alright, Prince Loki?" Sigrid asked as she looks up at Loki shyly, a sly smirk gracing her lips, which Loki took notice to.
Loki scoffed. "Am I alright? No, not after you accused my betrothed of crimes that she's never done! Where are you hiding her?!"
Sigrid's pursed her lips as she glared at the prince. "I knew you much longer than her, I even admired you! Why would you want to court a commoner whose father was a criminal?! Her father was a criminal, he manipulated his way up in the military ranks!"
Loki slammed her against the walls again, this time, much harder than the first time, causing Sigrid to flinch. "Do not speak about my betrothed and her father in that tone in front of me! Now I demand you to tell me where you're hiding my betrothed!"
"I always loved you ever since we were children," she continued, her eyes beginning to shed tears. "She took you away from me! She's going to pay for what she's done to me! If I can't have you, then no one can!"
Having enough of her words and feeling anger beginning to take over him, Loki used his seidr to conjure chains, He wrapped the chains around both of Sigrid's wrists, using the chains to drag Sigrid out of the palace to the empty tavern. To his luck, Heimdall was already waiting for him at the tavern.
"Leave this cruel woman to me," Heimdall began, grabbing the chains from Loki to drag Sigrid inside.
"Where's Y/N? Do you have a location on her now?" Loki asked Heimdall.
Heimdall nodded. "Yes. However, you must hurry. Lady Y/N is in the dungeons, you must take her to the healing room immediately."
Panic surged inside of Loki as he rushed out of the tavern to the dungeons. In the dungeons, Loki searched for you. It didn't take him long to find you in your cell, lying down almost lifelessly on the floor inside of the cell. Loki's eyes widened, fearing for the worst as he noticed that you were laying down in a small pool of your own blood.
"Little dove!" Loki called out to you as he used his seidr to let himself inside of your cell.
You weren't sure if you heard things correctly, your body was close to shutting down after all of the torture methods the guards and Sigrid used on you. Loki's voice sounded like it was miles away to you as he called your name, until Loki knelt down next to you, carefully pulling you into his arms carefully, trying not to hurt you.
"My love, it's me," Loki repeats, tears welling up in his eyes as he cups your cheek with one hand, his thumb softly brushing your cheek.
Feeling his thumb brushing your cheek, you slowly opened your eyes to gaze up at him. Your vision was slightly blurry, but you could still see him despite the blur, recognize his touch and hear him clearly now since he was holding you.
"I-Is this... a dre—" you wanted to speak, until your throat started to burn, causing you to cough rather violently, blood threatening to burst out from your mouth.
You covered your mouth, the burning sensation inside of your throat threatening to make you cough out more blood if you dared to speak. You attempted to push him away to prevent any blood from getting on him, however, Loki couldn't care less and didn't waste time as he scooped you up in his arms and used his seidr again to get out of your cell. Weakly lifting your head up to look at him as he carried you to the healing room, he felt your eyes on him as he gazed down to look at your lifeless E/C eyes.
"I got you, my little dove," Loki whispered his assuring words to you as he pressed his lips gently onto your forehead. "Everything's going to be alright."
Your body then suddenly went limp and you also lost consciousness, causing Loki to have a surge of panic. He sprinted out of the dungeons to the healing room with you in his arms. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Loki kicked the doors to the healing room open, not even bothering to knock or using his hands to open them (his hands are already full). The healers that were inside of the healing room flinched at Loki's administrations to the doors, which was now wide open as Loki entered the room with you unconscious in his arms.
"My prince, your betrothed—" a healer began to speak.
"Tend to her wounds now!" Loki demanded, cutting the healer's remaining words off.
The healers nodded at him as they motioned him to bring you to a bed. He laid you down on the bed as the healers gathered to care for your injuries.
"Your Highness, you should leave," another healer spoke up. "It's not proper—"
"I am staying by her side!" Loki insisted, his anger now suddenly taking a hold of him. "I refuse to leave her by herself, regardless of what the rules of courtship! If any of you speak about this, I will have you punished severely!"
Loki's words instantly made the healers shut their mouths, now shifting their focus to care for you. Loki then let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding as he leaned against the wall. His fingers pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling as if his head was going to explode from all of the events that happened and the agonizing days where he couldn't find you.
Loki was angry, upset, sad, even helpless. All he could feel were his strong emotions and he was trying to keep it all together, for you...
'How are you able to keep your emotions all together during turbulent times?' Loki thought to himself as he watched the healers tend to your injuries. Although he saw through you on several occasions, it still shocked Loki that you had the ability to put a front despite the difficult things you just went through...
After several hours of standing inside of the healing room, deep in thought and praying to the Norns. The healers approached him with relieved looks on their faces.
"How is she?" Loki asked the group of female healers.
"She's stable now," one female healer answered him. "She's no longer knocking on death's door, but she will be in a deep sleep for a few days."
"Will she wake soon?"
Another female healer nodded at him. "Yes. It will take a couple of days for her to awaken from her sleep since her body is still weak. Give her a few days for her body to regain back its strength and she will be awake by then."
Loki let out a relieved sigh, feeling a few tears escape from his eyes as he announced: "Alright. Everyone may be excused, I wish to be with my betrothed."
The healers curtsied as they scurried out of the healing room, closing the doors behind them. Loki proceeded to grab a chair and placed it next to your bed, he took a seat on the chair as he reached for your hand. He held your hand firmly, bringing your hand up to gently kiss the back of your hand.
"I'm so sorry, my little dove," Loki choked out, tears beginning to cloud his vision. "You didn't deserve to go through any of this..."
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.・✭・.・✫
Every passing day while you were still in a deep sleep, Loki took any open opportunity he had during his day to visit you. He sat by your bedside, reading one of the favorite novels you two would read together.
Finishing the chapter, Loki placed a bookmark at the next chapter and closed the book gently in his hands as he placed his gaze on your sleeping form. Loki placed the book on the nightstand by your bed as he reached over to grab a hold of your hand and ran his other hand through your strands of hair.
"Please wake soon, my little dove," Loki whispered. "I have to return to my duties now, however, I'll come and visit you again."
With that, Loki leaned down to press a gentle and loving kiss on your cheek before he let go of your hand. He got up from the chair, opened the wooden doors of the healing room and closed it behind him once he was out of the healing room. Sighing, Loki sauntered back into his study room to continue on with his duties for the day.
Hours had passed as Loki continued on with his work, he heard a soft knock resonating on his door.
"Come in," Loki called out, continuing to look over documents.
His study room doors opened and a male messenger was present at the entrance to his study. Loki put his documents down and gave his attention to the messenger. "The Allfather wishes for you to be present at the trial of Sigrid Anlafdottir," the messenger explains to the prince. "All of the eye-witnesses and jury have been gathered, so the trial will begin tonight."
Loki nods. "Alright, I'll be there. You are excused."
Before the messenger could take his leave, a guard came up to him and whispered something in his ear. The messenger's face lit up once he heard the guard's words and he bowed to Loki once again.
"Oh, another word, my prince," the messenger continued, a smile curling up his lips. "Your betrothed has awakened from her deep slumber, if you have extra time before the trial, she wishes to see you."
Loki widened his eyes in shock, you have been asleep for weeks. He felt tears well up in his eyes before he nodded at the messenger. "A-Alright, please pass the word that I'm on my way to see her."
The messenger nodded before bowing and closing the door to Loki's study. Taking a look out of the window in his study, the sun was beginning to set. Loki's eyebrows raised up slightly, realization hitting him.
'Norns, I've been working longer than I thought,' Loki thought to himself as he continued staring out the window. 'Before I head to the trial, perhaps I should visit my little dove for a few minutes now that she's awake...'
Standing up from his chair, Loki stepped out of his study as he quickly sauntered back over to the healing room. Placing his hand on the handle of the door, he quietly opens the door and he was met with you sitting up on the bed with a healer checking on your wounds. You turned your head toward the door when you heard it open, you gave Loki a soft smile as he rushed over to your bedside and engulfed you in his arms. The healer luckily finished tending to your wounds before Loki came in and excused herself quietly.
"Oh, my little dove," Loki sobbed as he tightened his hold on you. "I was so worried..."
You leaned into his touch, your head resting on his shoulder as you carefully wrapped your arms around him. "I'm okay, my love," you assured him before pulling away from him to wipe his tears with your thumbs and giving him a weak smile. "You know that I'm a lot stronger than you think, right?"
Loki couldn't help but chuckle softly before holding your hands in his. "I know that, darling. But I was worried that I was going to lose you, forever. How are you feeling? Are you feeling any pain at all?"
Softly smiling at him, you cupped his cheek with one hand. "I'm okay, this wasn't the worst thing I've been through, my prince," you assured him once again. "I'm utterly exhausted though...my body aches and hurts so much."
The healers recently gave you some medication to relieve the pain a little while ago, so the medication didn't kick in for you yet. Loki then gently pushed you back down on the bed and adjusted the blanket for you before grabbing a hold of one of your hands again.
"You should continue to rest, my darling," Loki spoke, changing the subject as carefully brought your hand to his lips, gently kissing the back of your hand tenderly. "You need to continue resting so you can recover faster. I have to get going now, father is holding a trial for that vile woman for her crimes. I swear that I'll bring justice for you, my love."
"Alright," you replied, squeezing his hand firmly and you gave him a weak, yet confident stare. "Teach that wrench a lesson for me while you're at it."
Loki chuckled at your remarks before he leaned down to press his lips against your forehead. "With pleasure, my darling. But now, your main focus is to rest. My brother, the Warriors Three, Sif and I will prove your innocence to everyone and put that vile woman in her place."
You nodded at the prince, he pressed one last kiss on the back of your hand before he left the room. Quietly shutting the door of the healing room, Loki straightened out his tunic before heading over to the throne room where the the trial would be held. As Loki reached the grand doors of the throne room, the doors opened and he enters the throne room that's filled with the eye-witnesses for both sides and the council for the trial, his brother was present for the trial, including Heimdall, Sif, and the Warriors Three. The Allfather stood at the throne while the Allmother stood next to Thor, so Loki sauntered over to his mother and his brother.
Clearing his throat to silence the overlapping voices inside of the throne room, the Allfather commands: "Bring the prisoner in!"
The grand doors of the throne room swung open once again with Sigrid's wrists cuffed in magic-suppressing cuffs and chains. Two guards were walking besides her while there were several guards right behind her. She turned to Loki and Loki coldly glared at her, his blue eyes piercing through her. Sigrid smirked at him before Odin cleared his throat again.
"Sigrid Anlafdottir, you stand accused of impersonating a future member of the royal family, attempted murder, improper use of seidr, stalking, kidnapping, and spreading lies about a future member of the royal family, and attempting to end a courtship process, how do you plead to your crimes?" Odin inquired her, his voice echoing throughout the throne room.
Sigrid scoffed at the Allfather as she set her gaze upon Loki once again. "Not guilty."
"Look at me when I'm speaking to you!" Odin roared, slamming his staff on the ground. "You truly wish to continue dragging this matter on?! I do not have the time to have you drag this matter!"
"I want that wrench in here in the trial," Sigrid spoke to Odin.
Odin rolled his remaining eye in frustration. "She will not be present for this trial, you've been told many times that she won't be present due to her wounds. Her maidservants and her tutor will do the speaking for her side. Now, let's continue on with the trial."
Hours of several eye-witnesses from your side and Sigrid's side speaking from their point of view. Your loyal maidservants and tutor defended your name, declaring your innocence and shutting down any false allegations against you from Sigrid's witnesses.
"Lady Sigrid has always been cruel to Princess Y/N!" your tutor, Runa declares. "The day Sigrid and I were assigned to tutor her, she would always use the most ruthless words to correct her wrongdoings or criticize her for the smallest mistakes."
"I also witnessed Lady Sigrid out and about in the palace when she's supposed to be tutoring the princess," your head maidservant, Estelle adds. "Every time I pay the princess a visit in her study, Lady Runa is the only one present inside Princess Y/N's study."
"And she's never spoken ill of the prince, ever," Katla continued, crossing her arms. "Princess Y/N has always spoken of Prince Loki positively, she never dared to speak ill of her betrothed and never had a lingering thought of being unfaithful to him."
Odin silently nodded at the three of your maidservants separate testimonies to defend you, then he cleared his throat again before speaking. "Sigrid Anlafdottir, this is the opportunity to now defend yourself from these allegations."
Sigrid chuckled. "Thank you, Allfather. For this opportunity for me to defend myself."
"Do you deny any of the allegations that are against you, Lady Sigrid?" an elderly councilman inquired.
She smirked. "Why should I deny them? I'm actually proud of the things I've done for the prince I loved and admired since I was a child. Sooner or later, he'll come to me and love me."
"Then you should've pleaded guilty instead of not guilty," Frigga spoke, her brows knitting together after hearing Sigrid's response. "You didn't need to drag this trial out for this long."
Sigrid scoffed at the Allmother's words before turning her attention to Loki. "No matter how long I have to wait, you will be mine, my dear prince. Like I mentioned, if I can't have you, then no one can. Not even your precious little dove."
Loki rolled his eyes at her before sneering. "You'll never lay your hands on me or my little dove, you vile woman. You disgust me and you have no right to use the name I give to my betrothed."
"Remove the prisoner," Odin orders, cutting the interaction between Loki and Sigrid short. "The council and I will now discuss the prisoner's punishment."
The guards get Sigrid to her feet and drag her out of the throne room, she continued to stare at Loki, only for Loki to give her the cold shoulder. The council stood up from their seats and gathered themselves to the throne to discuss amongst themselves of Sigrid's punishment.
Loki let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding almost the entire time during the trial. His mother and brother turned their attention to him and Frigga put her arms around him to calm him.
"What's wrong, my son?" she asked him, her voice below a whisper.
"N-Nothing mother," Loki answered her. "I don't want anything to happen to my beloved again, especially after this event..."
"We'll make sure of it," Thor assured him. "Father requested you and I to hire bodyguards for Lady Y/N to make sure nothing like this happens ever again. There will be proper protection for Lady Y/N, even though I'm well aware that she can fend for herself."
After some time, the council gathered back in their seats after the Allfather and the council came to an agreement on Sigrid's punishment. Once the council seated themselves, Odin then addresses the room: "Bring in the prisoner."
The sound of the chains resonated inside of the throne room once again as the guards brought Sigrid back. The guards bring Sigrid in front of Odin, but she doesn't kneel in front of him.
"Sigrid Anlafdottir, after the discussion between myself and the high council, we found you guilty of all of of the accusations," Odin announced. "The high council came to the decision that you spend the remainder of your days inside of the dungeons. You will be separated from the rest of the prisoners and you will be placed in a heavily guarded part of the dungeons, where you shall no longer cause harm to a single soul for as long as you shall live. No matter how long or short."
Once the Allfather finished announcing Sigrid's punishment, the doors to the throne room slowly swings open as the mixture of guards from the palace and the dungeons swarm in. The guards from the dungeons place extra bindings on Sigrid and removed her from the throne room. The women that were also involved with Sigrid were also being taken away from the throne room as well. As she walks past Loki, she gave Loki a smirk and Loki rolled his eyes at her.
As soon as the guards exit with the prisoner, everyone within the throne room returns their attention to the Allfather.
"This matter can now come to a close," Odin declared. "Lady Y/N is innocent of all of Sigrid's accusations against her. The courtship between Lady Y/N and my son may continue."
Everyone nods silently to the Allfather, the Odin excuses everyone from the throne room. As Loki sauntered out of the throne room, he let out a deep, relieved sigh as he leaned his back against the wall. Thor stood in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you alright, brother?" he asked.
Loki nodded, wiping the stray tears escaping from his eyes. "Better now since Y/N's name is now clear from that vile woman's accusations."
"Are you going to tell her about the results of the trial?"
"Not right now. It's late and I want her to recover from her wounds and everything that's happened. Tomorrow, will you help me search for new bodyguards for her?"
"Of course."
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。..・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.・✭・.・✫
Another couple of days passed since the trial, Loki and Thor were searching for bodyguards while you continued recovering in the healing room. News of the results of the trial spread quickly and it didn't take long for you to figure out that you were declared innocent by the Allfather and the high members of the court (although you were already innocent from the beginning). Now that you were declared innocent, your maidservants were finally back to serving you.
"We're so glad you're alright, princess," Æsa, your youngest maidservant sobbed as she wipes her tears with the sleeves of her dress.
You softly chuckled as you assured her. "I'm doing better now. I should thank the four of you for helping me clearing my name during the trial."
"Our princess didn't do anything wrong," Katla replied as she adjusted your pillows while Estelle assisted you to sit up on the bed. "I can't believe how cruel Sigrid is, doing anything in her power to accuse you of crimes you never committed just to try and have a chance with the prince?"
"It's madness," Estelle finished Katla's sentence. "Pure madness, I couldn't believe that she would go that far and low just to try and have a chance with Prince Loki when he's already courting our princess."
"As long as the truth came out, then that's all that matters," you told your maidservants. "Also, as long as I'm still alive is all that matters as well."
Before any of your maidservants could reply to you, a soft knock resonated at the door. Luta sauntered over to the door and opened it, greeting whoever was at the door.
"My princess, Prince Loki and Prince Thor has arrived," Luta announced, moving aside to allow Loki, Thor, one female warrior and one male warrior enter the healing room.
Your remaing maidservants moved aside from your bed to give you and Loki some space. Loki, Thor, the female and male warrior saunter over to your bedside, Loki took a seat on the edge of you bed while Thor and the two warriors stood by your bedside.
"How are you feeling, my little dove?" Loki asked you.
"I'm feeling a lot better, my prince," you answered. "I'm still exhausted here and there, but overall, I'm doing and feeling better."
Loki's lips curled up into a soft smile, taking one of your hands in his and kissing the back of your hand. Then, your attention landed on Thor and the two warriors standing by your bed.
"Hello Thor," you greeted him and he nodded. "These two warriors are...?"
"Father requested Loki and I to find bodyguards for you," Thor explains, then he turns to the warriors as a cue to allow them to introduce themselves.
"I'm Haldor," the male warrior introduced himself first.
"And I'm Hilda" the female warrior replied. "Haldor and I are twin siblings, and we're assigned to be your bodyguards."
You nodded. "Pleased to meet the both of you."
After you greeted them, you turned to Loki. "Why do I need bodyguards? I'm capable of defending myself."
"I understand, my love," Loki spoke up. "But the last thing I want is for the same incident to happen again. I was afraid that I was going to lose you forever, even if the truth came out. I'm aware of your skills as a warrior, but I still want you to be safe with Hilda and Haldor. I can trust the twins with your safety. I cannot allow anything similar to this incident to occur to you again."
You sighed as you wiggled your hands out of his to engulf him in a hug, no longer having the energy to argue with him. "Thank you for getting the truth out to your father and the high council. I thought I wasn't going to see you ever again after this..."
Loki wrapped his arms around you, returning your hug as he nuzzled his face into your hair. "There's no need to thank me, my sweet little dove. I love you and I promise you that this won't happen ever again. No one shall lay a finger or a hand on you, or falsely accuse you of any atrocities as long as I'm here to protect you."

Modern (Fenton) Ghost Hunting Part 1
Ties to: Post from under 'It started with a Ouija Board' found in the Masterpost
A/N: I got a little stuck with this and there is another bigger fanfic project I started working on that has me distracted. But I wanted to post at least part of this before I might end up in radio silence for three weeks cause I am visiting family out of country and have no idea about internet access there yet 😅
Danny was in a good mood as he slurped the ecto-shake his mom had made upon his return from the Zone. It was one of the more harmless and ghost helping food inventions his parents had come up with, once the truth was out of the bag when he was more or less forced to take on his kingly duties. Though his mom's ecto-fudge special (that was also one of the few ectoplasm infused foods not coming back to life) made for only him and Ellie was even better than the shakes. It wasn't better than their special family recipes their Dad loved so much but it came a close second.
He sipped on it more as he fell back into the couch as he flicked through some TV channels. His last trip to Gotham had been a month ago and he mused that he probably would need to visit soon to update Lady Gotham on the status of the Garbage Disposal Leaks. It was a pain to deal with but hey at least he, for once, got to be the mean guy to yell at the observants how they could have left these alone for over a hundred of years.
Seriously? If he could, he would stick Sam and one of her righteous rants onto them too.
So yea Danny was in a good mood he had gotten rid of another leak which only left a couple more to take care of and then put the observants into their place with another petty with hidden insults filled and Sam inspired as well as co-authored lecture.
He would give Lady Gotham a present for giving him such a great opportunity with this problem, even if that wasn't her intention. There was also a rumor in the GZ that Box Ghost and Walker had gotten beat up by Lady Gotham several times while he was busy, he would like to hear what that was about.
In all this Danny completely forgot about his encounter with the vigilantes and that his parents told him about a new business partner that was interested in their Fenton Ghost Tech that wasn't weaponry but focused on co-existence, like the Fenton (blob-)ghost feeder.
So when the doorbell rang and Danny went to open the door, thinking it might be one of his friends. He nearly choked on his ecto-shake as he came face to face with a person he only knew from paparazzi shots or Tucker's endless rants about their technology.
"Hello, I am Tim Drake-Wayne! I believe I have an appointment with the Drs Fentons? I am not too early am I?"
-------
Red Robin was on his wits end. After the first success he had used various more 'modern' summonings in hopes of getting their ghost to show up again. But most of them ended with the same white ghost or only one other ghost claiming their name as Box Ghost to appear. Strangely when they did appear, after about a minute after their appearance an invisible force started to attack them to which these ghosts instantly turned tail and 'unsummoned' themselves. They didn't even give Red Robin the chance to ask anything.
In the end after the third time of summoning that white ghost called Walker, the ghost peeked out from that portal once and the moment they spotted him sunk back into it. Not even bothering to tell him about any rules RR might have broken. Since then none of his summons appeared to work anymore.
Though the vigilante at least concluded that whatever had attacked their teenage ghost most likely was also the driving force behind Walker or any other ghost refusing to answer his summonings. He had suspicions that might have something to do with Lady Gotham, the teenage ghost mentioned and had been unable to summon at all.
Of course Red Robin couldn't leave it like that so he dug deeper into the whole ghost cult thing and came across published research papers. Apparently the ghost cult wasn't just an occult but also a science, that he highly doubted was real. The deeper he dug the more concerned he became, for one that ectoplasm they mentioned looked awfully a lot like Lazarus Water, and second the research from the Drs Fenton he found was awfully a lot biased until a year or so ago when they suddenly invalidated all their previous research and published a nearly completely different thesis.
Though the teenage vigilante had to admit everything they offered on their website looked a whole lot more modern and right out of a SyFy movie than any of the tools he had already purchased, from a ghost Wikipedia (which surprisingly included information about Walker and that Box Ghost), to protective gear, to feeders and ectoplasm infusers.
So after a small recon with his siblings and listening to their disagreement and another rant from their youngest about Pit Demons, Red Robin made the decision to check these Drs Fenton out undercover. And who better to do that than Tim Drake-Wayne, CoCEO of Wayne Enterprise who got interested in their ectoplasm-powered gadgets designed for co-existing. After all Gotham might just be as hunted if not more with the crime rate they had.
His siblings were not happy, he knew that but he took the earliest chance he had, to take a private plane to Amity Park and made an appointment with the Fentons on a saturday afternoon.
He made sure to smile pleasantly as the son of the Drs Fentons opened the door and took his time staring. Before finally inviting him in after a shout from the Drs. resounded somewhere behind him in the house. Tim of course eyed the glowing green shake the other teenager was drinking, already forming plans on getting a sample of it the first chance he got.
"Mr. Drake! Such a pleasure to have you here! You have already met my little boy Danny, my husband will join us later he got hold up by my daughters. But we do have a couple of inventions prepared for showcasing, we could also go over some of the theories first if you prefer until my husband can join us.." A woman came up shaking his hand and the teenager, Danny, stepped away from them retreating further away but staying in earshot, Tim noted.
"Dr. Fenton, thank you for having me. I am looking forward to learning about this ecto-energy and your Fenton-inventions, I believe one was called an Ecto-Infuser?" Did he imagine it or did that boy cringe? Also the boy was clearly watching him, he tried to appear nonchalant but the way the other teen's eyes followed Tims every move as well as the guarded look in his eyes was making it obvious.
"The Ecto-Dejecto, originally designed to weaken ghosts but is now one of the many medical tools that can help a ghost survive if they do not have a steady supply of ectoplasm." Dr. Fenton easily explained while leading him over to the seating area.
"Danny be a dear and bring our guest something to drink. Coffee or Tea?"
"Coffee would be fine." Not like he would actually drink it. As much as he and his siblings made fun of Bruce's paranoia, he was not about to drink coffee offered by people who research ghosts. Besides, looking around, he wasn't sure how well they followed OSHA and he wasn't about to potentially drink a coffee infused with Lazarus Water. If that ectoplasm was Lazarus water. But he would take it with him as one of many samples.
"Sure things mom. Should I bring out the fudge too?"
Tim's ear twitched and he turned ever so slightly in the direction of the son. No it couldn't be, could it?
"Oh please be so kind."
"Will be right back."
Now Tim wished he had forced at least one of his siblings along. Because if his ears didn't betray him then this teenager had the same voice like the ghost kid. Though his memory could be slightly impaired because of the time frame since he had last heard it. He would need to get a voice recording now too and play it to his siblings.

I just had an idea for a request! What if MC is asked to cook the meals for each dorm when there's a special occasion? And everyone believes that she can't do it but, lo and behold, she manages to cook up a whole feast. I hope this is okay!
Caterer
A/N: Fun fact, it takes me a long ass time to get to requests...so I hope you're still around anon 😅
CW:Fem! Reader
"Alright, you said you need food on Thursday for Sebek's birthday, right?"
"Yes, preferably by three."
"Okay, and you guys need food for the basketball club on Saturday?"
"Yeah. And Floyd wants to remind you he wants shrimp on the menu."
"Duly noted."
How did you get here? How did you become NRC's most popular caterer? Well…
Three months  prior
You had stopped by the Heartslaybul Dorm to visit Trey, who was still recovering from his broken leg. It appeared you had stepped into a warzone.
"Sevens! What are we supposed to do?"
Riddle was pacing back and forth, while an exhausted Trey looked on.
"We can ask Octavinelle. I'm certain Azul will have dishes worthy of an unbirthday party."
"And be indebted to Housewarden Ashengrotto for the rest of my life? Absolutely not."
"Wait, you need food for an unbirthday party?" You finally piped in, startling both the boys.
"Yes, but as you can see, Trey is still incapacitated. And the freshmen he has been trying to train are not ready to take on the project."
"I can do it," you offered.
Again, both boys just stared at you.
"You do know the unbirthday party is…tomorrow, right?" Trey asked. "It's not that I don't believe in you, it's just a lot of food to take care of at the last second."
"Well, I don't believe in you," Riddle said dryly. "There's only one person I believe can pull off something like this alone, and he's laying in that bed."
"Thank you?" Trey questioned.
"Well, just for that, I'm gonna do it! Just to prove you wrong!"
"Y/N…"
"What time do you need the food by, housewarden?"
"1:30 tomorrow. Think you can handle that? Cause if not-"
"I know, I know. It's off with my head or whatever," and then you stormed off to the kitchen.
"Please don't be too hard on her…"
"It'll be her own fault for promising the impossible. That will be all on her."
….
Ace had wandered down for a late night snack. The closer he got, the more it sounded like someone was in the kitchen. Which didn't make sense, because Trey was still injured, so who could possibly…
"Sorry, no entrance if you aren't on the list."
He looked down to see Grim standing in front of the door like a bouncer.
"The fuck is that supposed to mean, rat?"
"It means you aren't allowed entrance. Cause you aren't on the list."
Ace knelt down to Grim's level with a smug grin.
"Oh yeah? And what are ya gonna do about it?"
Then the door opened, revealing you in an apron, covered in flour.
"Grim, please remove the distraction from the premises."
"I'm on it, oh great food master. He was just leaving," Grim responded, shoving Ace for good measure.
"Hey, wait, wait, wait! Whatcha cookin, I'm hungry!" Ace began attempting to push past Grim into the kitchen.
"Back off Ace. I'm not playing this game with you tonight. This is for the unbirthday party."
"Wait what? Dude, Trey starts like a week ahead of time, isn't that tomorrow? There's no way you're gonna finish anyway, just let me have a bite!"
You glared for a moment, before looking at your kitty companion.
"Grim, remove the trash please."
"Yes, my lady," he began kicking Ace's shins as you returned to the kitchen.
….
Ace returned the next morning, with an entourage of Jack, Epel, Sebek, Deuce, and, of all people, Jamil.
Before Ace could say something snide to you or your kitty bouncer, Jamil called into the kitchen,
"Hey, it's Jamil. I was wondering how things are going, or if you need any help?"
"Nah I'm good, but thanks for the offer," came your reply through the kitchen door.
"Ace and Sebek have 30 madol on you not finishing in time," Epel said with a snicker.
"Grim, tell Ace to fuck off."
"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave," Grim said, kicking Ace's shins again.
Jack took the opportunity to speak to the door, "Y/N there's no shame in asking for help, it's a lot of food…"
"And Heartslaybul has the highest retention rate of all the dorms, so it's more food than any other dorm," Deuce added.
"It just can't be done, human! Allow the canine one to help you!" Sebek called.
"Look, Mr Doubter, I'm almost done. In fact, you be here at 1:30 to join the unbirthday party, so you can eat my food, and your words!"
There was a crashing sound from within, and all the boys almost burst through the door, if not for you peeking out from it yourself.
"Not to worry, I just hit an empty tray with my elbow, everything is okay. Now go away!"
The six boys, confused and concerned as ever, made their departure.
….
As the clock struck one, a crowd had set up outside the kitchen door. Students from nearly every dorm had huddled outside to see what the end result would be.
Then they heard a shout.
"Finito!"
And Grim hushed the crowd.
You emerged dramatically from the kitchen, and looked around at your audience, calm and collected as ever.
"I need some volunteers to set the table."
Immediately, some students joined you in the kitchen, and then they were parading out tray after tray, stacked high with shimmering desserts of all kinds; tarts, cookies, macarons, and a three tiered cake, decorated in red and white hearts. Then came the teas. It appeared you had brewed at least five varieties of teas.
The crowd outside stared in wonder. Silent murmurs of awe passed through the crowd, before Rook Hunt pushed his way to your side, kneeling at your feet.
"My Lady, Pomefiore would like to request your skills for a ball next weekend."
Before you could respond, Azul had elbowed his way forward, and placed an arm around your shoulders.
"Prefect, have you ever considered working for the Mostro Lounge?"
Leona somehow made his way over.
"Shove off, tako, the herbivore is going to be cooking for us!"
And thus, the Ramshackle Prefect became NRC's caterer. And no, you obviously are not getting paid for it. Who the fuck are you kidding?

Three days later, Emerie had the adoption process in full swing. Elain wouldn’t lie, having a multi-millionaire husband made people work fast. What should’ve taken weeks (or months to be honest) to get through, only took two days. They would be taking Kaden home that night for the first time so he could get settled, and would remain with them throughout the adoption process.
The hospital approved him to stay in the ICU in the meantime to avoid having to place him in a temporary foster home, a perk of her job, and having the chief of surgery vouch for her. Elain had been worried that with an unfamiliar place, his now-healing arm in a cast, and his fear of people, would negatively impact him. The hospital board agreed—though Elain assuring them that she and Azriel would pay for the board in full probably did something to help sway their decision. She understood why hospitals had boards for making decisions, but sometimes she thought they cared more about the money than their patients.
Azriel had taken the last two days off of work to prepare the spare bedroom for their newest addition—Elain helping to the best of her ability when she got off. Due to Kaden’s small size, he also needed a booster seat that was meant for somebody younger than him. She hoped that it wouldn’t be long before they got him to a healthier weight and could put him in something more appropriate for his age.
They still hadn’t told their family, wanting to wait till after they got the approval from social services when they completed their adoption interviews the following month, but they did let the Moonbeam twins know, seeing as they would be carting him and her to work most days. Kaden was going to temporarily join the daycare group at the hospital until they got him into school. Unfortunately, the year had already started, and they were elbow-deep in research for the best ones in the area to enroll him in as soon as possible.
With the twins expected in four months, and now Kaden, it also meant they had to move—the penthouse no longer serving them and their growing family. Azriel had been in touch with his realtor to get the process started, and she hoped they had a new place and time to settle before the twins were born.
Her husband had some very specific requests for their new home security-wise, and she couldn’t disagree with any of his suggestions. They were going to lose the safety the penthouse provided with combo locks and front lobby staff twenty-four-seven. The first thing Az had requested was something gated, preferably away from others, and large enough to host their entire family in spare bedrooms. He would be able to add in the additional security, but this was the foundation of what they were searching for.
To put it lightly, they were running around like crazy trying to get things in order.
Elain was eternally grateful for her husband who could drop everything to take care of things. Perks of being the CEO, she chuckled to herself. He was going to meet her here later on that evening to pick her and Kaden up, wanting to be the one to bring him to the penthouse for the first time.
Finding that Kaden loved being read to, they had already put together a full bookshelf in his bedroom filled with books of various sizes and reading levels, along with too many stuffed animals, a boatload of other toys, and, of course, clothing. They had stocked up on items for him to last through the next year, even with the possibility of him growing.
Elain was sitting next to his hospital bed, reading him a story about giving a mouse a cookie. She was nowhere near the level of enthusiasm that Azriel had provided when he read “The Three Little Pigs” the other day, but Kaden was enamored by her nonetheless.
A commotion at the children’s ICU front desk caught her attention and she glanced up to find a man in a suit shouting at the nurses, looking agitated, furious, and threatening.
She knew who it was immediately, snatching her phone from the front pocket of her scrubs and shooting a text to the Moonbeam twins.
SOS. Children’s ICU level 3. Now.
Her fingers stroked Kaden’s plump cheek. “I’ll be right back,” she whispered, setting the book down on her chair and striding from the room. Elain closed the curtains, shielding Kaden from view before sliding the glass door shut.
But it was too late. He had seen her and the boy and was stalking his way over to them.
Elain’s back straightened as she lifted her chin, meeting him head-on just outside the room.
“Give me my son,” he snarled.
“You mean the boy that has been here for three days and you’re just now coming to claim?”
He flicked his hand, far too close to her face for comfort but she refused to flinch. “I’m here to collect him.”
Elain’s anger flared, but she reined it in, not wanting to give him more of a reason to react violently. “If you want him, you will have to go through child protective services. Because I am not releasing him to you.”
His tanned skin flushed at her comment, his rage rising to meet her challenge. “He is my son—”
“Blood doesn’t make you a father,” she snapped.
Those green eyes took her in, narrowing to slits. “You’re the bitch trying to steal him from me.”
The breath rushed from her lungs. How did he know they were trying to adopt him?
Lorenzo’s mouth curled up in the corner with a cruel smile. “Move, the fuck, out of my way.”
He shifted to his left and she countered, stepping to her right. “No.”
His gaze snatched down her body, taking in her swollen stomach before returning to her face. “If you don’t move, I’ll make you regret it.”
Elain’s heart pounded in her chest, but like hell was she letting him anywhere near her son. Kaden was hers and Azriel’s and this pathetic excuse of a man wasn’t ever getting near him again. “Touch me and I can guarantee you’ll be in a body bag by the end of the week,” she breathed. In her peripheral, she saw Fenrys and Connall jog from the elevator, spotting her across the room. Elain swung her eyes back on Lorenzo’s face. “You’re nothing but an abusive monster and if you want to try and take him, you’ll have to go through me.”
The man swung, palm open to crack across her face.
But a golden-tanned hand snatched it around his wrist, halting him just inches from her cheek, the breeze fluttering the loose hairs over her ear.
“I wouldn’t do that,” Fenrys deep voice purred. “Her husband wouldn’t like it.” Though he sounded amused and wore a slight smirk on his face, Elain saw the darkening of his eyes. A cold look of a predator waiting to pounce.
Connall wore a similar mask, standing so close to Lorenzo’s other side that any large breath would have his chest brushing against his shoulder.
Both males had become not just good friends of hers, but rather protective too. Even more so since they found out she was pregnant. She knew that with them there, Kaden’s father couldn’t touch her.
Lorenzo glanced down at her name badge, pinned to the front pocket of her scrub top at her waist. His eyes widened in surprise as he took in that hyphenated last name.
Archeron-Knight.
Only a fool wouldn’t recognize that name, and if she was correct in her assumptions about who this man was or whom he worked for, then she knew he’d know immediately who her husband was.
She saw the recognition flash across his face; the hint of fear too before he quickly tried to cover it up with a sneer.
Elain wanted to slap the scorn off his face, but she settled on using her words instead. “Unless you get clearance from social services, you are hereby banned from entering this hospital and trying to reach Kaden. If you step foot in that lobby, I’ll be sure to have you thrown out.”
His nostrils flared furiously, but before he could respond, she looked at Fenrys and nodded toward the exit behind them. “Get him out of here.”
Connall gripped his other arm as they lugged him away, curse words falling from his lips faster than she could hear them.
Her heart raced beneath her ribcage at how close it came. He would’ve hit her to get to her boy had the twins not interfered. But Elain would’ve taken it if it meant protecting the little one behind her. Taking a few steadying breaths to slow her heart rate, she turned and slipped back into Kaden’s hospital room.
He was still awake, green and hazel eyes wide with fear. It was obvious that despite the closed door, he had heard his father’s voice.
“He’s gone,” she murmured, slowly approaching his side. “You’re safe with me.”
As soon as she sat on the edge of the bed, he curled into her side, little hands gripping her scrubs. “You stay wiff me?” he asked her in such a soft voice, she almost missed it.
Elain’s chest tightened at him finally speaking. At being comfortable enough to open up to her. She carded her fingers through his soft, inky hair. “Yes, sweetheart. I’ll stay with you.”
And she did, notifying Thesan to remove her from the rotation for the rest of the day while they waited for her husband to arrive that evening.
~~~~~
Blood sprayed, showering his torso in tiny, red droplets. He felt his knuckles split at last as he threw another punch into Elias’s jaw, tooth cracking.
Azriel withdrew into the darkest corner of his mind, the place he firmly kept buried deep and only brought to the surface when his fury needed a bloody and brutal outlet. It was the tainted part of his soul that was bred and honed into him as a child. Brought upon by fists and fire.
His father made sure of it.
So did his brothers.
When he delved into the monster, he felt nothing. Became nothing. He had to in order to inflict the pain, the torture, on those who crossed him. Az didn’t let himself think about her, about their growing family. He couldn’t taint their image with the cruel, twisted version of himself that he turned into.
No matter that the man deserved every single ounce of brutalized agony he delivered. Azriel had always used violence as a method for managing his anger. Some may have called it an “unhealthy coping mechanism,” but was truly the only outlet for his fury. It was the reason why he and Cassian would spar as teens, his elder brother the only one of the two who could really throw down with him when he needed to release his pent-up rage.
As an adult, he didn’t let himself cross that bridge too often—at least not anymore—but it was even less so since she had reentered his life. For her, he tried to be a better man, wanted to be, and typically let Ruhn handle the dirty side of things.
But not for this. Not after what he did to his wife. Tried to do to his unborn children. Those acts were unforgivable and Elias would pay for it with his life.
Eventually.
The man spat it on the floor, grinning savagely up at him, despite the fact that he was tied to a chair in an abandoned warehouse and hours from death. “Is this how we end things, Azriel? You kill me to satisfy some sick fantasy?”
It had taken Ruhn a while to finally track down Elias’s hiding spot. Some secluded cabin way out of the city. But once he finally caught the trail, he tailed him like a rabid dog until he captured him for good.
He readjusted the sleeve of his right arm, pushing it back up to his elbow. His scarred fingers stained red. “Oh, Elias, how blindly imprudent you are,” he taunted, throwing another punch and nailing him square in the nose.
To Elias’s credit, he didn’t yell or shout, simply hissed, spitting more blood onto the tarped ground.
“This isn’t some fantasy. This is revenge for what you did to my wife. You signed up for this the first time you put your filthy hands on her.” Az grabbed a knife off a nearby crate, flipping it once between his thick fingers. “You will beg for death before I grant it to you,” he snarled, embedding the blade into the top of his thigh.
This time, Elias did scream, fight it as he might, the pain, the surge of blood were too much for him to hold back. His head tilted back in agony as Azriel yanked the dagger out and plunged it into his other leg.
Elias’s body tensed, fighting the restraints that would never give, as he sucked in heavy, rasping breaths. “We were supposed to have been partners,” he wheezed between clenched teeth.
“No. I was forced into a partnership with your uncle. Not you. I gave you a way out and you chose to throw my generosity in my face.” His lips curled up slightly at the corner in a sinful smirk. “Your downfall is on you, Elias. You have nobody to blame but yourself.”
The dimmed fire reignited in those dark eyes at his words. “Your slut is to blame,” he spat with a renewed vengeance.
Quick as a flash, Azriel had his large hand wrapped around the man’s throat, squeezing until Elias’s face turned an ungodly shade of red. His body twitched under the force, but Az didn’t give in an inch as he struggled and fought to breathe. Leaning forward until his lips were nearly touching his ear, he whispered, “If I were you, I would choose your words very carefully. Nobody refers to my wife in such a manner without consequence.” The smirk turned sinister as he watched Elias turn from red to purple. “It’s not so fun being on the other side of this, is it?” he mocked, knowing how Elias put his soiled hands on his wife’s neck, bruising her pale flesh for almost two weeks.
He tightened his hold, squeezing the thrashing man with a sick vengeance. He could’ve easily snapped his hyoid. Literally choke him to death. But that wouldn’t have been satisfying enough and only released his throat when he was on the verge of passing out.
Elias choked on his air, coughing with the might of his lungs. “Your fucking bitch,” he wheezed with as much venom as he could muster.
Ripping the dagger still protruding from his thigh, Azriel gripped his hand and twisted the index sideways until a distinctive snapping sound echoed in the warehouse. Pressing the blade into the joint, he began to cut, severing skin, tendon, and bone.
Hands flexing beneath his grip, screams tore from Elias’s mouth, loud enough that Az was surprised his voice hadn’t given out. Maybe he should’ve shattered that when he crushed his windpipe; at least then he could’ve had some peace and quiet. But he didn’t stop until he dropped the amputated digit onto the floor in the pooling blood that stained the bottom of his dress shoes red.
He moved to Elias’s other side, intending to even out his hands when the ringing of a phone cut through the air. His eyes flashed to Ruhn, leaning on the wall while letting him exact his revenge.
Ruhn pulled Az’s phone that he’d been holding onto out of his pocket. “It’s Connall.”
He stuffed a gag into Elias’s mouth, effectively silencing him before wiping his hands on a rag and taking the phone from Ruhn’s outstretched hand. “Connall,” he said in lieu of a greeting.
“Azriel,” he started. “I’m glad I caught you. There’s been a situation.”
His heart plummeted into his stomach. “Is Elain okay? Is she hurt? What about Kaden?”
“Everyone is fine and safe. We had an unexpected visitor today.”
His eyes flashed to Ruhn, though he knew the other man couldn’t hear the conversation. “Who?” he gritted out.
“Kaden’s biological father, Lorenzo, showed up and caused a scene. We’ve removed him from the premises, but I thought you ought to know.”
Another name to add to his list. Azriel swore if one more person went after his wife or family, he was going to lose his shit and rain hellfire on this fucking world. “Did he lay a hand on either of them?”
The very distinct pause had another blood-thirsty sense of fury washing over him. “No,” Connall finally admitted. “He attempted to strike her, but Fenrys caught his arm before it connected. They are both physically unharmed, though by the way she’s comforting Kaden, it appears he may not be emotionally or mentally.”
He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I’ll be in this afternoon to pick them up—Kaden is coming home with us today. Until I get there, I want at least one of you stationed outside of his room and the other monitoring Elain.”
“Already done. Elain informed us that she has requested the rest of the day off and is sticking by his side. We’re posted on either side of his door. Nobody in or out that’s not approved by her.”
The twins deserved a raise, he realized, noting that detail for later. “Thank you, Connall. For the update and keeping them safe. I’ll see you in a few hours.”
“Always, Azriel.”
The line went dead and he had to take a breath to settle himself. Too many emotions had risen to the surface and he needed to separate himself again to finish what he started. But as he turned to face Elias once more, his overwhelming need to make him suffer hours—if not days—of torture vanished.
He didn’t need to torture the man. Az just needed him dead. “It’s your lucky day, Elias,” he said, striding over to rip the gag from his mouth. “My desire to torture just took on a new face.”
Some sick satisfaction swept over him at the hope that lit Elias’s dark eyes. Because he knew the man thought Azriel was going to let him go, and he was about to rip that dream of freedom right out from underneath him. “Which means, your life has served its purpose.”
True terror blanketed Elias’s face and before he could even voice a shout, Azriel snatched the dagger from the crate where he left it and slashed it across his throat.
Elias choked on his blood, drowning in it as it poured from his lips.
Dropping the knife on the ground, he turned his back on the dying man and told Ruhn, “Bury him on top of his uncle. So, the beginning and the end of their regime can meet in death.”
He left the warehouse without another word, letting Ruhn handle the cleanup and dealing with the body.
As the sunlight warmed his skin on his walk to his car, Azriel released the mask of his inner demon and summoned his true self back into its place. The man who loved his wife and their growing family. He let out a heavy breath, breathing out all of the darkness from his soul. Climbing into the car, he drove away from the warehouse and did not look back.
Azriel had done his research in the short time since deciding to proceed with the adoption, needing to know what they would face by taking in Kaden. Lorenzo was, in fact, a part of the Illyrian Mob, though he wasn’t ranked high. He had about three superiors before he reached Nick, let alone Frankie. His death wouldn’t even cause a stir in their pyramid of power.
A kernel of knowledge he kept in the back of his mind because that’s what he signed up for when he went after Elain and Kaden. His death by Az’s hands. Another stain on his blackened soul, but he would taint it for her. For them. He’d carry the weight of the world if it kept his wife and family safe.
But that would come at another time. Right now, he had to focus on the boy they would be bringing home that night. He pulled into a parking spot outside the hospital and climbed out of the car. He and Elain spent the morning installing the booster seat in the back for Kaden before she left for work, and he did a last-minute glance over to make sure everything was ready. Snatching the small backpack filled with proper clothing inside, Azriel strolled into the front lobby of the hospital.
He took the elevator up to the third floor, nodding at the Moonbeam brothers who stood guard outside of Kaden’s room and knocked on the door.
Elain waved him in with a smile on her face as she got up off the stool to greet him. “Hello, Az.” She swooped in for a sweet kiss, his hand automatically settling onto her rounded stomach.
“Hello, my love,” he grinned, leaning forward for another small peck of her lips.
Her eyes glanced down at the hand cradling her belly. Her fingers grazed the fresh wounds that littered across his knuckles. “What happened?”
Azriel twisted his wrist to grip her palm, bringing it up to plant a soft kiss there. “Just work stuff.”
She frowned but didn’t ask him to elaborate. Elain was intelligent and could easily guess how he split his knuckles. But she knew better than to bring it up in front of their little boy, who was watching them closely.
Knowing that he came from a rough home, they made sure to show their affection to each other in his presence, wanting him to know that he was joining a loving home.
Azriel looked around her shoulder, smiling at Kaden sitting on the bed. “Hello, Kaden. I brought you something to wear.” He stepped forward, unzipping the backpack and pulling out a pair of pants, a long-sleeve shirt, socks, and sneakers, that he hoped fit him.
Elain moved to shut the curtain, offering them some privacy as they helped change him from his hospital gown to street clothes. “I’m going to put your bear in your backpack to take him home, okay?” she said, showing him the stuffed toy being placed in the dinosaur backpack.
Kaden’s dark hair rumpled when he tugged the shirt over his head and Az couldn’t help but chuckle as it fell into his eyes. He’d need a haircut soon.
His little hand rose to push it back, but a shy smile tugged on his lips.
Azriel felt his heart soar from that smile. He hadn’t been offered one yet, but spending the last few days here with him had helped tremendously. Kneeling, he helped put his shoes on, tying the laces, and then carefully lifted him off the bed and onto his feet. “Shall we go home now?” he asked.
Kaden immediately took Elain’s offered hand, but he was surprised when he felt small fingers wrap around his pinky. Azriel looked down to find the boy staring up at him.
Every single worry he had about this kid not accepting him as his father vanished from that moment on. He was his, no matter his blood, and Az would do anything to keep it that way. Nobody was ever going to take his son away from him and Elain.
He pushed the curtain aside and opened the sliding glass door, tugging his little family into motion. The Moonbeam brothers fell into step behind them, always guarding their backs but now with even more reason and focus. Azriel had seen the way they stepped up in their protection detail since Elain had gotten pregnant, and he knew that their dedication would extend to Kaden tenfold.
They rode down the elevator in comfortable silence, a pleasant hum running through his body. Viviane looked up at them when they made it to the nurses’ station, a smile pulling on her lips and she clapped Elain on the shoulder as they passed.
At the car, he kissed his wife’s cheek, murmuring for her to get in as he lifted Kaden and strapped him into the booster seat. He ruffled his hair with a large, scarred palm, catching that green-flecked gaze.
Closing the door, Az dismissed Fenrys and Connall for the weekend before climbing into the driver’s seat.
“What’s for dinner tonight?” Elain asked, turning to look at the boy in the back.
Azriel glanced in the rearview mirror, watching as he took in the sights around him. “Steak with mac and cheese,” he said out loud, pulling out of his parking spot.
She rubbed a hand over the swell of her stomach. “One baby agrees with that decision very much.” Her light laughs echoed in the car, and he reached over to feel the hard kick from one of the twins.
A little fighter, that one was.
Elain’s cravings had varied throughout the pregnancy. In the beginning, she wanted nothing but carbs. Then she was into Mexican, and Az spent a lot of time making bean and cheese burritos at two in the morning when she woke up hungry. But right now it was barbeque. Steak was his go-to, but last week, she was dipping chicken breast into frosting because, apparently, it was sweet and savory. He had to hide his disgust over the last one, but the image of her utter happiness while eating it brought a smile to his lips.
When they made it to the penthouse, Azriel immediately went to light the barbeque and put the mac and cheese in the oven while Elain gave Kaden a tour of the downstairs living area. Once finished, they walked him up the stairs to her old bedroom where he would temporarily be staying until they bought a new place. “This is your room, Kaden,” he said, opening the door and allowing him to slowly shuffle his way in.
Green and gold eyes went wide at the outrageous display. To be fair, he and Elain might have gone a bit overboard on things to buy, but they wanted to make sure Kaden felt at home and well-loved.
Az had put together two bookshelves against the far wall that were nearly overflowing. A rocking chair sat with them so that they could read together in the evenings before bed. A basket full of stuffed toys sat in the corner, and a large shelving unit was placed next to the dresser and contained everything from a dinosaur set to blocks to racecars.
They had decided to keep the queen-sized bed in there for now, not having had the time to replace it, nor wanting to. So, they purchased kid sheets instead, with a cartoon character on them that he couldn’t remember at the moment.
Truthfully, the bedroom looked like it belonged on the cover of a home décor magazine, but their only concern was comfort.
Kaden glanced up at them, waiting for permission.
“Go on,” Az encouraged him with a gentle nudge on his back.
The little boy ran for the boxes on the shelves, opening the tubs they had organized before sliding them back. He then took off for the plush toys, digging around until he found a stuffed dog.
The squeal he let out had warmth flooding his body and Az turned to share a look with his wife, whom he could tell was experiencing the same kind of utter joy.
Kaden stopped at the bookshelves, roaming the selection before he carefully placed his dog on the rocker and then ran back to them. He threw his arms first around Elain’s legs, making her choke out a sob, and then carefully around his, almost as if nervous to show affection towards him.
Az’s throat grew thick with unshed tears and he crouched to put himself at eye level, holding out his arms to see if he would embrace him.
The little one hesitated for a second before he slowly stepped into his chest and wrapped his arms around his neck. Azriel held him tightly to his body. Felt the heaviness of his worries that this boy wouldn’t accept him disappeared within that embrace.
“We’re happy to have you home with us, buddy,” Azriel whispered, pressing his lips to the side of his son’s head.
His son.
The words hadn’t hit him until that very moment. But as he clutched that little body to his torso, he realized how right it felt to think it. To say it.
Elain sniffed, carding her fingers through Kaden’s soft hair. “Go play, sweetheart. We’ll come to get you when dinner is ready.”
Azriel released him, letting him toddle off back for the assorted containers. He stood back up and wrapped an arm around her waist as they watched him a moment longer explore his new bedroom. “Come on, let’s get you changed.”
Though it was obvious that both of them wanted to stay, they also agreed to give Kaden some space to settle in, so it didn’t feel like they were hovering over him.
Elain padded to their bedroom to swap into some comfier clothes while he went back downstairs to throw the steaks onto the barbeque. They busied themselves in the kitchen, listening to Kaden’s imagination run wild up the stairs. Though not loud, it was something they both kept sharing shy smiles over.
“He seems to love it,” she breathed.
He looked over at her. “You did well in picking out stuff for him. I don’t think I would’ve had any of the right toys.”
Elain laughed softly, brushing a soft kiss to his cheek. “You’ll get better at it as you grow into your role as a father.”
They harmoniously worked together to finish prepping dinner, basking in their contented silence—it wouldn’t be long until the silence became a rarity for them—and it wasn’t until a distinct crashing sound had him racing up the stairs, two at a time.
Az threw open the bedroom door.
Kaden whipped around, looking guilty and nervous at the blocks knocked onto the floor. It was clear he had accidentally dropped the container as he pulled it off the shelf.
His son slowly took a step back, like he thought he was in trouble. The evident fear made his stomach clench, sorrow and range dancing through him at the mere thought of somebody harming this child for making any sort of sound.
Elain gripped his shoulder and he glanced at her, seeing that same worry on her face.
He turned back toward the little boy, hoping to calm him. “Are you all right?” Az asked carefully.
A minute passed, then another until finally, they received a silent nod in confirmation.
“We thought maybe you got hurt,” he tried explaining. “You’re not in trouble.”
Those shoulders relaxed slightly.
How often did he get hit or shoved or yelled at, simply for being a kid? It made his heart ache and his blood boil for vengeance on Kaden’s biological father. That man had a limited number of days before Az sought him out.
“Dinner will be ready soon, sweetheart,” Elain cooed, offering him a sweet smile that seemed to provide him some semblance of ease. She gently closed the door and they both paused, holding their breath to see if he would continue playing. After a moment’s hesitation, they heard a car being rolled across the hardwood floor.
She gripped his hand, tugging him down the stairs. “It’ll take some time to adjust to his every sound, but I think we can hold off on running up the stairs whenever he makes a peep,” she teased, shooting him a grin over her shoulder that didn’t touch her eyes. Because she knew as well as him the horrors their little boy faced in his short lifetime already.
Az sighed more to himself than anyone else. “After everything he’s been through, I can’t help but want to make sure he’s okay, one hundred percent of the time.”
“That’s fatherhood calling you, Azriel. Our kids are going to get scrapes and bumps and bruises. That’s just a part of childhood. The best we can do is just make sure we’re there to bandage them up and kiss away the hurt.”
He stopped her, turning her around to kiss her softly. She melted into it. “You are my rock, El.”
Her breath teased his lips as she looped her arms around his neck, securing him to her. “And you’re mine.”
Azriel felt those words settle into his heart and spread all over his body. Warmth and love and the undying faith that he knew to be true. Together, they could take on the world.
~~~~~
The next few weeks had been a blur. Kaden blossomed under their care, speaking to them in a quiet voice, though they could tell he was a bit behind in his speech. They hired a speech therapist who worked with him three days a week after school. Kaden loved school, even if he was shy with the other kids, and they did find out he’d never attended one before, which also explained his developmental delays. He mostly kept close to his teacher, who had been informed of his past and fears, but a few of the kids in his class kept trying to engage with him and only the day before were they informed that he accepted an invite to play with one of the other children.
After dinner, they’d each take turns reading to him and with him, hoping to help catch him up to his classmates. Both Kaden’s teacher and speech therapist had recommended it, and she and Azriel would do everything in their power to help their boy succeed. And though he was calling them by their given names now, they were working toward momma and daddy.
It was progress, Elain had said one night. “Every day, I see a little bit more of the boy he’s supposed to be.”
There were a few rough challenges they had to handle. About a week and a half into living with them, Kaden woke up late evening with a nightmare. Elain didn’t think she would ever forget it…
Azriel was on his side, head propped on his fist as he spoke to her belly. It was something he did every night, wanting the babies to hear his voice as much as possible. Sometimes he read them stories, sometimes he sang, and other times he just told them about his day and how much he couldn’t wait to meet them. Whatever it was, Elain always had to choke back tears at the love and joy that shone on his face when he talked with their children.
It was nearing eleven o’clock when they heard Kaden’s desperate scream.
Her husband launched out of bed, tearing down the hallway to reach their son’s bedroom. Elain hurried behind him, though her waddling—yes, she was fucking waddling now—slowed her down a bit. When she reached his room, Az already had Kaden’s crying form tucked into his chest.
“You’re okay, Kaden. You’re safe. Nobody will ever hurt you again,” he murmured, pressing kisses to the top of his head. His golden eyes met hers, blazing with a fury she only saw when his family was threatened. “Love, can you get some clean sheets out?”
Her brows raised in surprise, but with the hallway light on, she could see the dark stain on the bed where their son had wet himself from fear. Elain’s heart ached, but she nodded, slipping to the cupboard just outside the door and pulling out new linens.
She set the bedding on the dresser and then headed into the bathroom to start the water in the tub. “I’ll trade you,” Elain said, indicating for the child.
With one last kiss on his head, Azriel placed Kaden into her arms and began stripping the bed of its soiled sheets.
“Come on, sweetheart. Let’s get you cleaned up.” She rubbed his back in comfort, hoping it would slow the tears still rolling down his red cheeks. Once he calmed down enough, Elain helped him out of his pajamas and got him into the bathtub.
As she was gathering his clothes from the floor, he asked her, “Is Azweel going to punish me?”
Her head snapped up, catching Azriel in the mirror whirling around in shock at the question. She could read the devastation on his face. The hurt of being associated with that monster. Knowing she had to carefully address this, Elain knelt by Kaden at the edge of the tub. “No, sweetie,” she murmured, running a hand through his soft hair. “Azriel isn’t going to punish you, sweetheart. It was an accident.”
It became clear that this wasn’t the first time Kaden had an accident and received corporal punishment for it. A level of anger she’d never felt before kindled in her gut as Kaden’s bottom lip quivered.
Gathering his clothes, she stepped out of the bathroom, finding the bed already remade, and Azriel standing there looking as if he’d been slapped.
“He thinks I’m going to punish him?” he asked in disbelief.
But that wasn’t quite right. “No, he believes that he will be punished for an accident because he likely has been before. You are stepping into the role of his father, Az. It’s going to take some time for him to see the difference in how you respond to things versus the man who sired him. He will see it, though. I promise you that he will.”
Az chewed on his bottom lip, a habit he did when he was anxious about something. “Should I go in there?” he worried.
“I think it’s important that you do.”
He nodded, picking up the clean sleepwear for his son, and stepped into the bathroom.
Elain tossed the soiled pajamas into the hamper before leaning against the wall, just outside the bathroom to listen to her husband.
“Hey, buddy. You ready to get out now?” Azriel kept his voice whisper-soft, not wanting to give Kaden anything to worry about.
Water sloshed and she heard the distinct sound of the drain popping.
“I heard you ask momma if I was going to punish you…” there was a pregnant pause and she held her breath for the rest of that sentence. “No matter what, Kaden, I will never punish you like that. Whatever happens, I promise you that you won’t ever have to fear me, okay? I love you so much, Kaden. And I will always, always protect you.”
A wave of tears washed over her, rolling down her cheeks. Damn hormones. She glanced into the bathroom, catching Kaden as he slipped his arms around Az’s neck, hugging him tightly.
Her husband rose to his feet, still clutching their son in his arms. He turned, catching her watching them, and shot her a pleading look.
Elain knew what he was asking her for. Could read his desire to continue holding his son. So, she reached out a hand for him. “Come on. Let’s go to bed.”
They walked back down to their bedroom, Az lying down on his back so Kaden could sleep on his chest. Elain snuggled in next to him, her hand rubbing up and down their son’s spine until he drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep.
“You’re good with him,” she whispered.
“We’re good with him,” he amended. “I don’t think I could let him go, now.” He left the rest unspoken. How, if social services didn’t approve of the adoption, they would fight until their dying breath to change their minds. Because like hell were they letting anyone take their boy away.
But she didn’t doubt that they would be seen as the best thing for Kaden. And she would use that confidence to power through their interview which could change their lives forever.
Much like the little boy sleeping on her husband already had.
Elain blinked, drawing herself from her memory. They were on their way to the adoption interview, and though she had confidence that this would go their way, it didn’t stop the butterflies from erupting in her stomach from her nerves.
Almost as if he could sense it, a large, scarred hand reached across the console to squeeze her knee. Az glanced at her once before returning his eyes to the road. His touch instantly soothed the anxiety running through her.
“Ewain,” Kaden called from the backseat.
She twisted her head to look at him over her shoulder. “Yes, sweetheart?”
“Can we get ice cweam?”
Azriel let out a chuckle as she smiled at the little boy. “I think we can do that after the interview.”
“Yay!” he cheered, throwing his arms into the air and kicking his feet wildly in his booster seat. Despite fall having rolled in a few weeks earlier, summer had yet to lessen it’s hold on the city and a cold bowl of ice cream did sound appetizing.
At that, her husband laughed, deeply and so full of love as they pulled into the parking lot of the social services office. Azriel collected Kaden from the back who grabbed both of their hands, nearly swinging between them as they walked into the building.
“Mr. and Mrs. Archeron-Knight. Welcome,” a woman said from behind the front desk. “Please follow me.” She escorted them to the back into a private room. Half of it was set up with a couch, desk, and two chairs, while the other half was clearly designed for children, including a small table with coloring utensils and a cubby holding various toys. “The interviewer will be in shortly. Please make yourself comfortable.”
They moved to sit on the couch together, Az gripping her elbow to ease her down. The joys of being pregnant with twins.
“Can I go pway?” Kaden asked, shooting them those puppy-dog eyes that neither could resist. They were definitely in for trouble with that face.
“Of course,” she told him, brushing a curl behind his ear.
He went straight to the table, grabbing a coloring book and some crayons to occupy himself, humming lowly while his feet swung beneath his chair. Kaden had a love of art; something his Aunt Feyre would go nuts for.
“We’ll have to get him more coloring supplies,” Azriel murmured, pressing his lips to the side of her head.
A knock sounded from the door before it was opened, revealing a young woman with dark hair braided back, and a beautifully tanned complexion that could only be from her heritage.
She smiled brightly at them. “Hello Azriel and Elain. My name is Nesryn. It’s lovely to meet you both.”
At the sound of a new voice, Kaden’s head whipped up and he quickly made his way back over to them, wiggling to place himself between their bodies.
Her brows raised in response to his shyness.
“Kaden is still a bit uncomfortable with strangers,” Elain said, running her hand along his back as he buried his face into her torso. “We’re taking it slow in introducing him to people so he doesn’t feel overwhelmed.”
Nesryn’s lips turned up at the corner. “I can’t say that’s entirely a bad thing, or surprising for that matter given his history.” She took a seat opposite of them, using the table as a buffer between her and their son. “I took a look through his file and, frankly, the number of past injuries is highly concerning. I know that Emerie was originally on his case, and she will be conducting his interview because I believe she may have a better chance at working with him but given her close relationship with you, Elain, she’s asked me to conduct your interviews to prevent any biases.”
She nodded. “I think that’s fair.”
Flipping open the file in front of her, Nesryn leaned back in her seat and asked, “So, why do you want to adopt Kaden?”
They shared a look before Azriel responded. “To put it point blank, he’s our son, without a doubt.”
“When Kaden was first brought into the hospital, I connected with him instantly,” Elain added. “He seemed timid with the nurses and other doctors, but with me, he relaxed. I knew from that initial meeting that he was brought into our lives for a reason. Even with his nervousness around men, he opened up to Azriel fairly quickly too. Almost as if he knew he could trust us to love him.”
Nesryn nodded, noting something down in her file. “And how has he progressed with you since he’s been living with you?”
“He’s communicating with us, will tell us what he wants to eat, and asks if he can do something. His food intake is good and I can see he’s beginning to put on some healthy weight,” Az explained. “He’ll sit with us as we read bedtime stories and let us kiss him goodnight.”
She smiled. “It sounds like you have a solid routine for him, would you agree?”
Elain tucked her foot behind her ankle. “Yes. We try to keep a set schedule with him as much as possible. Dinner time, bedtime, when we wake him up to get ready for the day.”
“How’s he sleeping?”
Azriel glanced at her, a question in his eyes and she nodded. “There was an incident the first week. He woke up one evening with a nightmare so terrifying for him that he wet the bed.” Nesryn’s brow cocked, but she didn’t interrupt. “We comforted him, cleaned him up, and put new sheets on his bed, but it was a question he asked that concerned us…”
“What was the question?”
He sighed, lips parting. He hated having to admit this, but it was important to be honest with the social worker. They had discussed whether or not to talk about that night earlier and decided if it was brought up, then they would. “He asked Elain if I was going to punish him.”
Nesryn noted that down and he fought the hackles that rose as a result. “Did you punish him?”
The question caught him off guard. “No! Of course not. He didn’t do anything wrong and I would never punish him in the way he was asking.”
“What way is that?”
“We believe corporal punishment was used on him in instances like this,” Elain spoke up, seeing how the question twisted at Az’s insides. “After he asked me that, Azriel went to speak with him and reassured him that he would never punish him like that. That he would always protect him.”
The woman smiled. “That was probably the best thing you could’ve offered him at that moment.” She turned her dark eyes onto her husband. “I don’t ask these questions to pry or to insinuate anything, Azriel, but just to get a feeling of how well you two respond to it. I could see that you were upset by that question and I wanted to make myself clear. You both have shown me that you would make excellent guardians for Kaden already.”
She flipped through her file, checking off a few boxes. “Now, I do need to address the obvious.” Her eyes flashed to Elain’s rounded stomach before returning to meet their gaze. “You’re expecting in a few months. That’s a hefty change for you both. How do plan to balance having newborns with a newly adopted child at the same time, along with the additional financial obligations that come with it?”
“You don’t need to worry about the financial aspect. We are more than capable of handling whatever expenses come our way,” Az told her.
Nesryn huffed a knowing laugh. “True, but I’m still required to ask it.” It was no secret to her how wealthy they were.
“As for balance, I think it’s important to note that even though Kaden will not be our biological son, at no point will he ever feel like there’s a difference in the love we show him in comparison to the twins. He will always be our son, no matter what. And we will do everything we can to ensure that he’s settled, included, and as much a part of our family as anyone else. There is no limit to the love we can give him.” Elain said each and every word with her whole heart, feeling Azriel take her hand as they huddled closer to the little boy still sitting between them.
“While Elain will be taking a generous maternity leave, I will also be taking two months off from work to be at home after the twins are born. And then will work from home for a good portion of the few months after while we establish a rhythm, to settle with our three children, and to make sure that Kaden is as comfortable as possible.”
Her whole face lit up with a smile. “I’m happy to hear that. Many fathers aren’t able to take time off like that and adjust their schedule to help out, so knowing you plan to, I believe will make all the difference in adjusting to your new life.” She skimmed through her notes and then closed the file. “Well, I must admit that you two would make wonderful parents to Kaden. I don’t have any concerns with approving your adoption of him.”
The air whooshed from Elain’s lungs in one giant breath. Relief and happiness and so many other emotions rushed through her until her eyes grew misty. “Thank you, Nesryn. That means a lot to us. Truly.”
“Always a pleasure.” She stood from her seat. “I’ll send Emerie in for Kaden’s interview now. You two will need to step out of the room for it, so we can try and get unbiased answers from him.” She indicated to the mirror on the side of the room. “You’ll be able to watch through there. His interview won’t be as extensive as yours was.”
“And if he doesn’t answer her questions?” Az asked, nervous for the same reason she was. Would that affect their ability to adopt him if he refused to speak?
“His questioning is just to get an idea of how he’s feeling. If he doesn’t respond, then we will notate that and go with just your interview.”
She breathed out a sigh of relief.
A moment after she bid them farewell, the door opened and Emerie walked in. “Good morning,” she beamed, stepping up to the coffee table. “I was hoping that perhaps Kaden and I could chat over there,” she pointed towards the area where he’d been coloring earlier.
Elain glanced at the boy, still tucked against her side. “Do you want to go color again?” she asked him softly, brushing his hair back.
Kaden peeked up at her, his green-speckled eyes wide. He dipped his chin in confirmation.
They got him set up at the table to continue his drawing from earlier when Az knelt next to him. “All right, buddy. Emerie here wants to talk with you for a minute by yourself. Momma and I will be right outside the door if you need us. Okay?”
Elain kissed the top of his head on her way out the door. They made their way to the side room where the one-way glass was, watching as Emerie made attempts to communicate with their son.
“Do you like living with Elain and Azriel?” she asked him as she worked on her own drawing. Nesryn explained that it helped reduce the anxiety of feeling interrogated.
Kaden nodded, not looking up from his drawing.
Silent communication was better than no communication, she thought, relieved to see that he did like being with them.
Azriel gripped her hand in his large, warm one.
“What do you like about living with them?” she encouraged, picking up a new color.
He was quiet for a moment, then told her, “They’re nice.”
“He’s talking to her,” she breathed, throat constricting with emotion. They had done that. They had broken through his barriers to help him speak.
“Nice, huh? Was your dad not nice?”
Az shot a look at her, puzzled by the question.
Kaden shook his head, grabbing a yellow crayon, but didn’t elaborate. Not that she expected him to. Elain realized early on that Kaden didn’t like to talk about his biological father, even with them. She hoped that in time, he would open up about it, but they weren’t going to push the subject with him.
“Did he hit you?” Emerie asked quietly.
His coloring slowed, eyes never straying from the paper in front of him.
She reached out to touch his hand, but he snatched it away from her. “You can tell me, sweetie. He can’t hurt you anymore.”
“I don’t fucking like this,” Az growled, tensing as she pushed their son into speaking.
“Did he hit you, Kaden?”
His head snapped up, crocodile tears rolling down his cheeks. “Where’s Azweel? I want Azweel!” he shouted, voice cracking in desperation.
Elain felt that pain in the pit of her stomach; her husband already moving.
“Fuck this shit,” he snarled, throwing open the door to the interview room and hurrying to collect his son.
“Azriel!” Emerie started.
“This interview is over,” he snapped, cradling Kaden’s crying form to his chest.
Elain reached his side, her palm running along Kaden’s arm in comfort as he clung to his father’s neck
Emerie rose from her chair, arms crossing. “I know that it’s hard to watch, but if we can get a verbal statement from him, admitting to his father’s abuse, we have a stronger case against him!”
“Do not raise your voice in his presence,” he said forcefully. “What you’re doing isn’t helping him. He’s not ready to talk about what he went through and I will not stand by and watch him have to relive his abuse when he is not ready for it.” Azriel was a force to be reckoned with when it came to his family. “I don’t think you understand the trauma a child goes through after living in an abusive household. We have worked so hard to get him to open up to us, to progress forward, and if you push him, we’re going to lose all the growth we’ve made.”
“If and when he’s ready to talk, we will be there for him, but we’re not going to continue like this,” Elain added, standing with her husband on this.
Footsteps sounded behind them and Nesryn walked in, skin turned a ghastly pale color. She held her phone in her hand as she looked at them all. “We don’t need to worry about building a case against him…”
Emerie frowned. “Why?”
“Because they just found Lorenzo’s body.”
~~~
They were silent in the car, the last hour replaying over and over in her mind. After hearing the news about Kaden’s biological father, chaos broke out. Phones were ringing and both Emerie and Nesryn were arguing with their superiors about how nothing changed their minds.
Elain, for a brief second, thought she was going to lose her son in the madness. Only Azriel’s strong presence at her side kept her from breaking down completely. But when the dust settled, they received the stamp of approval for Kaden’s adoption.
She had wept with joy, kissing her husband, still holding their son to his chest, before she descended upon Kaden’s head until he giggled at her.
But now, as they were headed home, having stopped to grab an ice cream to go, she couldn’t stop the question from passing her lips. “Did you do it?” Elain asked, glancing at Azriel behind the wheel.
His eyes shot to hers for a brief second before returning to the road. “No,” he told her honestly. “No matter that he deserved it and I should’ve.” Azriel’s words held a dark and dangerous tone and she knew that he would’ve ended that man if the opportunity had presented itself to him. Not just for their son, but for the time Lorenzo nearly attacked her too.
She breathed out a sigh of relief. Elain couldn’t exactly blame him for wanting Lorenzo dead. The man had tortured the sweet boy in the back seat for years. Left hurt, scared, and to fend for himself. She saw a lot of her husband in him and she knew Az saw himself too—saw the trauma of his childhood in those green and golden eyes.
“Should we be worried?” If he didn’t end Lorenzo’s life, somebody else did. And the timing was just too coincidental for her not to have concerns.
Azriel let out a heavy breath. “I don’t know,” he admitted.
Elain looked over her shoulder at the boy humming while he ate his ice cream, most of it smeared on his lips. His feet kicked happily over the edge of his booster seat.
“No matter who did it, nothing will ever happen to him, El. I promise you that.”
She looked back at her husband. “I never doubted that. I’m just worried at why it was done.”
He grabbed her hand, kissing her knuckles. “Let’s not think about it right now and focus on our growing family.” Az ran his thumb over the back of her palm. “We need to let our siblings know.”
Elain pulled her phone from her purse. “I know. I was thinking of dinner. What about tomorrow night? You could barbeque again—ooh, barbeque…” Her mind wandered to Az’s grilled specialties, which he made for her three times a week to curb her cravings.
His chuckle pulled her mind back from thoughts of food and the growl in her stomach. “I can barbeque, my sweet.”
“You spoil me.”
Az’s head tipped back in a laugh. “You’re the one growing two babies inside of you. I think making your food is the least I could do.”
Her grin split her face as she typed out a message to her sisters. HerH
“Momma, I’m all done!” Kaden shouted from the backseat.
Elain whipped her head around at the name, sucking in a sharp breath. For a moment, she just stared at the little boy, replaying the sound of him calling her momma. Tears welled in her eyes and it took her a minute to realize he was holding out his empty paper bowl and spoon for her to take. With a shaking hand, she reached out and collected the carton, heart hammering in her chest.
“Tank you!”
“You’re very welcome, sweetie,” she managed to spit out, still in shock.
Azriel pulled into their parking spot in the penthouse garage, turning off the ignition to smile broadly at her.
He called me momma, she mouthed at him.
Leaning across the console, he kissed her, cupping her jaw and letting his thumb swoop over her cheek. “You’re his momma,” he whispered only to her.
Her phone dinged twice and she lifted it to read the text from her sisters. “Dinner for tomorrow is a go,” she told him.
They glanced back at their son, oblivious to the shared moment. Tomorrow, their siblings would find out they had a new nephew. And she couldn’t wait to share the news with them.
~~~~~
Azriel was on the balcony, checking on the two chickens he had on the grill. His wife’s obsession with anything barbeque still made him smile. He did his best to mix up the way he prepped it so he and Kaden didn’t grow tired of it, but Az didn’t dare to tell his wife no when it came to whatever she was craving.
It was a quarter till six when he heard the elevator ping and made his way back inside to greet his siblings. “How do you all manage to show up at the exact same time?” he asked, sliding the glass door closed behind him.
“Impeccable timing?” Cassian supplied with his signature shit-eating grin.
Az simply rolled his eyes, calling for his wife. “Elain! Everyone is here!”
“Be right down!” she hollered back.
They had decided to have Elain bring Kaden down to meet everyone at once, hoping it would be less intimidating for him. He wasn’t sure how their family would react to the adoption, but he didn’t believe they had anything to worry about.
“We brought wine,” Feyre announced, heading towards the kitchen in search of glasses.
There was nothing he could do but let her further into the dining area, watching as she paused at the table, brow furrowing. “Az, do we have somebody else joining us? The table is set for seven.”
Before he could answer, absolute silence descended upon the room as Elain appeared at the top of the stairs, carrying what looked like a sleeping Kaden in her arms. She managed to take only three steps down before Az reached her, taking the little boy from her arms. “Come here, bud. Momma shouldn’t be carrying you right now.”
Even in his sleepy state, Kaden willingly went into Azriel’s embrace, arms sliding around his neck.
“He was asleep on the floor when I went into his room,” Elain told him, taking his elbow as they made their way down the stairs to where their gaping family awaited.
“Question,” Cassian started, looking utterly bewildered. “Did you two have a previous child that we don’t know about?”
Elain laughed softly, running her fingers through their son’s dark locks. “Everyone, we’d like for you to meet our newly adopted son, Kaden.”
Azriel turned so he could see his aunts and uncles. “Kaden,” he murmured quietly, running a hand down his back. “Kaden, this is your Uncle Rhys and Aunt Feyre,” he said, then turned towards their other siblings. “And your Aunt Nesta and Uncle Cassian.”
Those green eyes peeked out from his chest, glancing at the four new adults before he turned his face and buried it into his neck.
He chuckled, hoisting him up higher in his arms. “He’s a little shy.”
Their siblings remained frozen like statues. Much to his surprise, it was Nesta who managed to snap out of her reverie first, stepping forward and presenting her daughter propped on her hip. “Hello, Kaden. It’s nice to meet you. This is Sutton,” she told him, angling the almost one-year-old so he could see her better. “She’s your cousin.”
That had him turning to look at the little girl in his aunt’s arms. “Baby,” he whispered, fingers grappling with the collar of Az’s shirt.
He kissed the top of Kaden’s hair. “That’s right, buddy. She’s a baby, like what your brother and sister will be.”
“Does anybody want to explain what is going on?” Rhys demanded, startling the boy in his arms.
“Lower your voice,” Az said fiercely, taking a step back from the group to murmur words of comfort into his ear. “Would you like to go color before dinner?” he asked, already moving towards the coffee table where Kaden had left out coloring books from earlier.
He gently set his son on the floor, kneeling to kiss the side of his head before rising and ushering the adults further into the dining area to give Kaden some space.
“Kaden was brought into the hospital a while ago with a fracture to his arm that required surgery,” Elain explained. The cast had come off the previous week and his surgical site was healing well. “X-rays showed that it wasn’t his first fracture.”
“Or his second, or his third,” Az practically growled, still furious at how much the boy had suffered at the hands of his biological father.
“Four fractures?” Cassian breathed in horror.
Elain touched the back of her head. “He had one on his skull, here. Likely the result of being pushed into the corner of a low-lying table.”
“Oh, my god.”
“Because of the obvious abuse he suffered, he’s very timid around adults, particularly males. Despite that, he connected with me in the hospital. Clung to me,” his wife told them, looking at their son with such love that he had to wrap his arm around her waist and tug her close to him, wanting to bask in the warmth she radiated.
“We were approved for the adoption yesterday, and go to court in a few weeks,” Azriel announced.
Silence descended one more before Cassian cleared his throat in obvious discomfort over what he was about to say. “Not that we aren’t truly happy for you both, you do remember you’re having twins in just a short while, right?”
Elain’s eyes snapped to her brother-in-law, going impossibly dark. “Well, fuck me, Cash. I’m pregnant? Who would’ve thought?”
Azriel snorted in amusement at the hostility.
Cassian’s tanned face went pale. “I didn’t mean it like that, Elain—”
“Then how did you mean?” she snapped, not even letting him finish his sentence.
It surprised him that Cash, of all the siblings, made a comment. He had always been the more accepting of the group to changes and surprises.
His brother scratched the back of his head, knowing he’d dug himself into a hole. “I just meant that newborns are a lot and you have two on the way. Taking on another child could be more than you anticipate.”
Jesus Christ his brother was burying himself in a grave.
Elain stepped out of his grasp, shooting daggers at Cassian. “Azriel and I are well aware of the responsibilities that will come with adopting a child and having newborns. We’ve discussed things endlessly to ensure that Kaden feels welcomed and loved even with the twins’ birth.” She crossed her arms as she stared him down. “But I’m curious, would we not see the level of support that we have shown you since Sutton’s birth?”
At that, Cash blanched. “Of course you would.” He sighed, shaking his head. “Forgive me, Elain. It was not my intention to question your ability to parent and raise three children. I know you’re more than capable of it.”
She turned her attention on the rest of the group. “Does anybody else have any opinions they’d like to address?”
A chorus of declines sounded from the rest, making him chuckle.
“Good.” Elain turned to face him. “How are we doing on the chickens?”
Azriel glanced down at his watch. “They should be done. We can start bringing stuff to the table and I’ll carve.”
His family went to scatter, Nesta slowly approaching Kaden with Sutton in her arms and asking to join him on the floor. Nesta laid her daughter on her stomach, sitting back against the couch with some toys. He watched as his son cautiously stepped toward his niece. A smile touched his lips, already seeing a life-long bond between the two children.
Feyre and Rhys followed Elain to the kitchen, helping her pull dishes from the fridge and finish setting the table.
Cash took a half-step toward his wife when Azriel reached out and snagged him by the crook of his elbow, forcing him to look back at him. He lowered his voice to ensure the others couldn’t overhear him. “Don’t you ever speak to my wife like that again,” he warned.
Regret flashed in those hazel eyes so much like his own. “It won’t happen again.”
He nodded, releasing Cash’s arm. “Good. Now help me with the chicken.”
Gathered around the table, the family welcomed their newest addition, growing more and more excited for all the new changes coming their way.

You were grateful to have a job that was flexible. Before you had Remi, you were in the office probably 3-4 days a week and could work from home the rest of the time which allowed you to travel to away games and support Justin as much as possible, while still having a career of your own. Now that you had a daughter to think about, things were different. You were different. But that doesn’t mean that the work doesn’t stop. So when you had to leave town for a weekend work conference in Chicago, you thanked your lucky stars that it was the offseason.
“Do you need help packing? You know I have a little experience with it.” Justin smiles, looking down at your suitcase. He really was an expert, packing all three of your bags whenever you went on vacation. It was the most efficient folding job you’d ever seen. The man grabbed all of your essentials, easily placing them in their rightful places and zipping it up without breaking a sweat. His tidiness and attention to detail had become even more attractive since you became parents, it really came in handy.
“Are you sure the two of you are gonna be okay? I mean I can call—”
He waves you off. “We’re gonna be fine! She already has a plan for everything we’re gonna do. I just need to follow it. She did say I could come up with stuff to do on Monday though so I have some fun things planned.”
“Trust me, I’ve heard all about these plans,” you sigh, looking at your suitcase. “Remi barely said goodbye to me this morning. She was so busy telling me about how fun this weekend is going to be. Giving me FOMO.”
He grabs your bags and heads downstairs with you to put them in the car. “Please, you’re going to work for a couple hours and sightsee the rest of the time. But seriously, go enjoy yourself. You deserve a little break, she’s cute but I’m convinced she’s got a battery pack attached to her. She’s never tired.”
“I know,” you pat him on the back and give him a kiss. “And hasn’t taken a nap in weeks, so good luck with that. I’ll see you on Monday afternoon. Love you.”
“Love you too baby. See you on Monday but we’ll probably call you tonight before bed, I’m sure she’ll be missing you already.” He closes your car door and gives you one last peck before heading inside.
“Daddy, can I have some choclate milk?” Remi asks, sitting in her chair at the kitchen counter.
“What’s the magic word?” He says, waiting for her to understand what he was getting at.
“Oh…please!”
He nods and grabs her pink sippy cup, filling it up and handing it to her after she says “thank you.”
The duo sits on the couch in the living room to watch Cars, the first thing on Remi’s list. He figured she was tired after preschool because she not only skipped her nap when she got home but she also barely ate dinner. Usually she’d be up and running around while the movie played in the background but tonight she was focused, cuddled into his side with her eyes glued to the screen. Nova was sitting at her feet, fast asleep. After the movie was over, it was time for their bedtime routine. Remi took a bath, got to pick out her favorite pajamas and read three books. Before he could turn off the lights and sing the bedtime song, Remi asked him why he calls her “mini.”
He tells her to wait a second and that he’ll be right back. Justin comes back into her room with a mirror in his hands. Holding it up to her, he says, “look at us, you look just like me. You’re my mini me. My mini.” She grabs the mirror out of his hands and looks at the two of them side by side. “See? We have the same eyes, same nose and—smile? That little hole in your cheek? It’s called a dimple. I have one too. And when I was little my hair was blonde just like yours.”
“We match daddy. We’re the same!”
“We are the same,” he tucks her in, grabbing her favorite stuffed animal, a gray bear named ‘Muffin’ so she can hold onto him while she sleeps. He turns on the white noise machine and the night light before turning off the main lights and walking back towards the bed. Justin kisses his daughter on the forehead and both of her cheeks and she wraps her arms around his neck for a hug. “Nighty night mini, sleep tight. Don’t let the bed bugs bite. I love you.”
“No bugs can come in here silly. Nighty night daddy,” she yawns. “Love you.”
He had just barely closed his eyes when he heard her on the monitor and he rushed into her room to check on her. “What’s wrong baby?”
“I miss mama.” The tremble in her voice makes his chest hurt.
“Come here,” he sighs as she crawls into his lap. “How about you sleep in mama’s spot tonight? Would that make you feel better?”
She nods slowly, sleep still laced all over her features. He carries her into the room and places her in your usual spot and he can hear her giggle a bit.
“What’s so funny?”
“This pillow smells like mama. Like she’s right here.” She whispers in shock and he shakes his head in amusement, both of them drifting off to sleep with smiles on their faces.
The next day, Remi wanted to get into her costume. She’d been watching a lot of Spidey and his Amazing Friends and was convinced that she was Gwen Stacey aka Ghost Spider. So when her grandparents bought her a costume, she wore it pretty much daily. And her dad had to be Thor…for obvious reasons. The superheroes saved the city from the green goblin’s plan to turn everyone into hamsters and then they had to save Muffin from Doctor Octopus’ evil lair.
“We make a pretty good team, Spider Gwen.” Justin says, putting the Thor hammer on the couch.
“It’s Ghost Spider daddy.” She corrects him.
“Oh I'm sorry Ghost Spider. How about you take your costume off and we take a little snack break? Superheroes need food to keep up their energy.”
After enjoying her apple slices with peanut butter, Remi headed off to her playroom to draw while Justin cleaned up the kitchen so he wouldn’t have to scramble to find things while making dinner.
He finds her sitting at the table, peacefully scribbling on a piece of paper until she gestures for him to sit down in the tiny chair. Taking a look at the chair, Justin is about to tell her he won’t fit before she cuts in like she was reading his mind.
“You can fit daddy. You not too big for it.” The chair is surprisingly a lot stronger than he thought, but he doesn’t want to push it so he settles down on the floor next to her chair, giving her his undivided attention. He’d spent so many days growing up looking up to his dad and trying to put into place the lessons that he learned from him but never in his wildest dreams did he think about how rewarding it would be to have his own child. This little blonde perfect being was his and the love he had for her was out of this world. It really felt like a piece of his heart was just living outside of his body, sitting there mindlessly drawing pictures that would inevitably end up in his locker as a reminder of what really mattered.
For dinner he made her some salmon, sweet potato fries, broccoli and some mangoes. As he was cooking, he played some music and Remi suggested they have a dance party.
“What do you wanna listen to mini?” He asks, holding the phone.
She stands next to him with a serious look on her face, furrowing her eyebrows in deep thought. “The Cars song please!”
Remi starts jumping up and down as “Life is a Highway” plays on the speakers. She grabs his hand pulling him away from putting food on her plate so he can dance with her. Justin watches intently as she wiggles her arms and shakes her little body as she pleases and joins in, imitating her moves and singing along. If he could bottle up these tiny moments he would and he’d savor them just to be able to look back on them in the future because his mini was already growing up too fast.
His point was proven on Sunday afternoon when Remi suggested they make slime or “swime” because she learned how to do it in preschool last week and made you stop at the store to get all the necessary supplies. Although he was secretly looking forward to this little science project with her, it was just another reminder that she was much closer to kindergarten than she was to the newborn stage. He followed the detailed directions that Remi got from school and added glue and food coloring to a bowl and let her stir.
“Do you wanna add in the baking soda?” He hands her the spoon and she dumps it into the bowl.
“Uh oh daddy I spilled. I need a tissue.”
“It's okay, we can clean it up when we’re done. You can keep mixing, you’re doing so well.” Justin runs a hand down her ponytail, proud of himself for successfully getting it all, even if it took him three tries. In his defense, Remi had a lot of hair to work with. “Next, we need to add some of this saline solution and mix it with our hands. Are you ready?”
Remi rolls up her sleeves with her dad’s help and digs into the bowl, kneading the slime with so much joy in her face. The orange slime came out gooey and perfect and they played with it for a while, cleaning everything up together when they were done.
By the time they reached Monday, he was exhausted. But he was in charge of their big activity today and he really wanted to close out this daddy-daughter weekend on a good note. They got in the car and drove to a local marsh about 20 minutes away from the house. He helped her out of the car and they walked towards the hiking trail. “Okay mini, mama’s gonna be home in a few hours so I thought we could do a scavenger hunt. Do you know what a scavenger hunt is?”
She shakes her head no but looks very intrigued.
“I have this egg carton that you helped me paint the other day and we’re going to find things that match the color. So in the pink part we need to look around and find something pink. Think we can do that?”
Remi puts her fist up in the air and it really reminds him of himself, “yeah, let’s go!”
As they worked on completing the rainbow scavenger hunt, Justin went down memory lane for a bit. “A long long time ago, I used to go outside with uncle Mitch and uncle Patrick and we used to collect things. Sometimes we would even bring home little animals like tiny frogs and lizards.”
“Ew daddy! Those are swimey.” She exclaims, gasping when she spots a bright red flower to add to her collection. “I like this game.” Remi hugs one of his legs, holding out her hand so they could keep exploring. Along the path he would look up the flowers based on colors and tell her the names so she could try to repeat them to her best ability. He told her about how someday soon they’d have to go fishing together so he could show her how it’s done. She was just excited to be on the boat again.
Before he knew it, you were texting him to let him know you were picking up dinner on your way home and the two of them found their last items as fast as they could and walked back to the car. You were already in the house when they got home and Remi ran into your arms immediately, not wanting to let go.
“Oh hi sweet cookie, did you have fun with daddy?”
“Uh huh, daddy is the best! I love him,” she mumbles into your shoulder.
“I love him too, he’s pretty great isn’t he. You’re so lucky sugar, you have the best daddy in the whole world.” Justin walks up to you and wraps his arms around both of you, sandwiching Remi in the middle. He gives you a kiss on the cheek and kisses the top of the toddler’s head. “So…tell me everything. What did you and daddy do?”
She takes a deep breath and you know you’re in for a long story. You catch your husband’s eyes and he shoots you a tight lipped smile as he goes back outside to your car to get your bags inside. Remi doesn’t let you go as you walk her to the couch.
“It was sooooo fun…” she begins, telling you every single detail without missing a beat.
